Btw in my au after Ahsoka left the Order and Rex joined her to start their small rebellion against the separatists they definitely sat together and cried while listening to Good Luck, Babe! and thinking about Barriss and Cody respectively ✌️🙃

Ahhh! Help, I’m back on my shit again!
No O66 AUs where Ahsoka wants to return to the Jedi but is still working through all of the feelings of betrayal, hurt, abandonment.
They love to focus on Ahsoka lashing out, blaming, being angry. Which is fair. I think to say she wouldn’t is disingenuous to her character, especially during this time period. She is flawed (this is another gripe about all fanon characterization - leave your favs flawed, they are better this way).
But what they never do is have someone from the order (who isn’t Anakin) say they understand why she feels this way.
They never tell her they understand why she hurts and doesn’t trust and is angry. It’s always “it’s because she’s young”.
And yeah, that contributes, but whether they had an option or not (they did not - fucking senate, fucking Tarkin, fucking insidious bastard), her family kicks her out and she is almost executed. That is justifiable trauma, and I would argue it would be traumatic for anyone, regardless of age.
I understand Plo apologies on behalf of the council before she leaves, but there is a difference between “we are sorry” and “we see you and your emotions are valid.”
Anyways, this is my way of saying I love when Ahsoka is messy about the Jedi and has to work through those issues, but some of you treat her being upset about her expulsion and near execution the same as my five-year-old throwing a tantrum when I take away a toy.
Attributing it to age and Anakin’s influence is too simple. There are actual issues here, and you can be pro Jedi and pro council and pro Obi-wan and still admit she has a reason to be upset.

Every time I play with the idea of writing a Star Wars fic (and it's not something I'm opposed to, it's what happens when you get an OTP), I have to ask myself how would I maintain its identity if it isn't Jedi-centric or involves the Mandalorian Empire or...pretty much any part of the SW universe that doesn't heavy focus on the Light Side and the Dark Side that's come part and parcel with the Skywalker drama bullshit that Disney will probably never move on from because Nostalgia Means Big Bucks! that's so prevalent in all three trilogies. And for me it feels like: if I were to write a fic that doesn't include any of that, then would the setting still feel like Star Wars and not Another Cookie Cutter Sci-Fi Story?
I know it's kind of possible to not put a big focus on the Force and everything that ties into it (I believe Andor is more down to earth than, say, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett), but at the same time I feel like the mysticism has so much weight in the series that taking it out of the picture (or at least not making it the big central thing in a story) just makes any story that wants to be more grounded would be like ripping its soul out.

RWBY: Jaune Arc Mandalorian AU: Jaune’s Starfighter
**During the last Two Years at Beacon, Jaune and his friends all got along he managed to have a very loving relationship with Yang and the two Teams became power houses after their first year, but on one night they played Truth or Dare Jaune Revealed in a Truth he has a Starfighter to help him go earn some cash from bounties in space given to him by his Bounty Hunter Mentor; Boba Fett.**
(Night of the ToD game night)
Ruby: BULLSHIT! I call BULL!! SHIT!!
Yang: Ruby! Language! I’m sure Jaune is just joking
Jaune: who said I was?
Yang:…huh?!….
Teams RWBY & (J)NPR: ………EEEEHHHH!?!?!……
They all yelled in shock and saw that he wasn’t joking at all.
**The very next morning he took Team RWBY and his own team down to Ozpin private landing bay for Beacon where bullhead ships were kept, they all soon saw a ship that was covered in a large grey tarp and once they walked over to it Jaune grabbed the tarp and revealed his Starfighter.**
Tumblr media
Ruby:…oh wow…(eyes shine and she begins to drool)…
Weiss: mhm this is quite a spectacle~
Blake: I mean I’ve read these in science fiction books but never thought I’d see one in person
Yang: that’s fucking hot babe~💕
Pyrrha: Jaune you always continue to surprise us
Nora: I WANNA RIDE IT! I WANNA RIDE IT! I WANNA RIDE IT! AND I WANNA BLOW STUFF UP WITH IT!!!
Ren: Nora No! (He said trying to hold her back)
Nora: NORA YES!!
Jaune: I’ll think about it Nora, anyway this is my Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, years ago it was originally made for a old warrior race of people known as Jedi but they all went extinct and are only a few left in the Galaxy, as from what my mentor told me when he got this for me
Blake: your mentor got you this?
Jaune: yeah it was a gift after I completed my training, but despite it all I wear his family crest on it to show my thanks to him and to honor my mentor
**Suddenly Weiss interrupted**
Weiss: if that’s so, what’s this art piece supposed to indicate mhm~
**she said in a teasing tone as they all looked at the side of Jaune’s Starfighter wing and saw a pin up spray paint art piece of Yang**
Tumblr media
youtube
**everyone looked at the pin up with blushes, some covered their mouths and some looked at Jaune with a cheeky smirk, but Yang mostly was looking at it in embarrassment but also a little bit happy on the inside seeing Jaune still thinking of her when he’s away**
Yang: J-Jaune WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?!
Jaune: now Yang come on I can explain
Nora: so fearless leader got a sexy mascot to show off to the galaxy huh
Jaune: NORA!
Pyrrha: my goodness Jaune I didn’t think you’d do that and by yangs reaction you didn’t even get her permission, how deviant of you
Jaune: Pyrrha it’s not what y-
Yang: how could you Jaune! (She said blushing harder)
Jaune: Yang please it is just a pi
Yang: how could you get my Signature Wrong!!
RWB(Y) & JNPR:…….Huh???
**they all said in confusion**
Yang: if you wanted me to be your pin up you should have had me sign it!
Jaune:…..umm…ok I’m sorry?….I guess?
Yang: good but I’ll forgive you under one condition
Jaune: what?
Yang: if you take me for a ride in it first before everyone else
**she said tapping her fingers together and making a pouty face along while doing it**
Jaune: (Giggles) sure thing babe
**he said as he pulls her in for a kiss and her soon accepted his apology from the kiss and his promise**
Nora: can I blow up a Cabbage Stand with it now!
Ren: why a Cabbage Stand?!
Blake: you really wanna ask her that question Ren?
Nora: Well my beautiful Ren Ren, it’s because in every universe there is a Cabbage man who yells “No! My Cabbages!!” It’s a universal thing Ren Ren~💕
Ren: What?
Nora: I WANNA BLOW SHIT UP!!
Ruby: ME TOO!! I WANNA BLOW SHIT UP!!
Ren: NORA NO!!!
Yang: RUBY LANGUAGE!!

Does it bothers you when people are like "Leia is so Anakin coded" or "Leia is so alike both Ani and Padme" while completely reducing Luke to "Padme in a boy's body". I have seen a few edits of the twins on tik tok lately and always when the video is about the parallels between Anakin and Luke the comments go "No. That is wrong. Luke is like Padme and Leia is like Anakin", or "you get the twins right, anakin-Leia, luke-padme".
And I have tbh, that pisses me off a bit, mostly on Luke's behalf since he is my fave, cause while I totally agree Luke has a lot of similarities with Padme, he also is alike Anakin in so many ways. And it upsets me a little people just trying to erase everything they have in common just to support this narrative. (Main reason why I don't like the reverse AU, or Senator Luke fics. The ones I have read just straigh up pushed this narrative, putting his love to fly, his passion, and many things that makes Luke be Luke to the side only to make him be a version of Padme)
It is also upsetting for Leia, since she is far away from being 100% like Anakin. They are both passionate and determined people, yes, but this doesn't make her be "Ani 2.0". And this narrative also completely dismiss the existence of Bail and Breha on her upbringing.
Both twins share a lot of similarities with both of their parents in different and intricated ways, with a lot of their own personality on the mix, what makes them unique. It baffles me see them being reduced to charicatures of their parents.
I agree with you, I understand fandom wants to have fun with memes but sometimes they go too far, Leia and Luke ultimately are their own persons and tbh those takes also do a big disservice to Anakin and Padme characters´reducing their arc and personality terribly and ignoring Owen, Beru, Bail and Breha influence on the twins emotional development.
But I will focus on Luke and his relationship to Anakin here.
Luke is a strong force sensitive with a good aptitude towards mechanical work, he is passionate, short tempered, idealist, has big dreams for the future, excellent pilot and soldier who cares more than anything for friends and family and causes he considers just, he is also kind and compassionate even if this doesn´t come easily to him, just like Anakin was at his age.
That said, he is also down to earth, pragmatic and has a no non-sense actitude when it comes to other people, see his reaction to Han trying to scam them on their travel to Alderaan, he doesn´t suffer people trying to make him feel inferior because he knows his own personal value, those are characteristics he got for being raised by his uncle and aunt, sure they lived on a desert planet full of Hutts, slavers, criminals and bounty hunters but they lived an honest way of life and didn´t believe they owned either group an ounce of their honest work, they only ever owned it to their family.
Anakin´s experiences shaped him differently on this matter, given his life as slave his mother teached him the art of bend, dont break by keeping his identity intact, this made him more susceptible to be ordered around by the Chancellor, the Jedi Council, the Republic sometimes even Padme even if this meant sacrificing his original hopes of freeing his mother, the slaves of tatooine and having a family.
Anakin developed low self esteem issues when he got separated from his mother because he no longer had her unconditional support and knew the reason why he was trained by the Jedi was contingent to his habilities and what he could do for the Order, not because he as a person, was important or would have been chosen for himself as a Jedi if he wasn´t so strong in the force but he learned to keep his real self buried and protected from outside forces while using the systems controlling him to his advantage. Palpatine managed to break him but even Vader was able to keep part of his real self alive despite the Emperor´s many efforts to turn him completely to the darkside ,which Luke noticed thanks to his bond to his father.
Those characteristics Luke got from his Uncle and Aunt served Luke well when he confronted the Emperor, Obi-Wan and Yoda, he already was interested in being a Jedi because of his father but this didn´t mean he was going to blindly follow whatever order Yoda and Obi-Wan gave him as much as he personaly appreciated and loved them as people and masters in the force and he certainly wasn´t going to act as if the Emperor wasn´t trying to destroy his familiar bond to his father when he didn´t even know the guy, took his father from him before he was born and was the rebellion´s main adversary, all Palpatine was for Luke was an objetive to kill on sight and Palpatine knew this, that´s why he temped him to the darkside by giving him the oportunity to kill him. Luke is also of the mind that if he doesn´t agree with something and that something is the source of great pain for others he is 100% justified in destroying it, see Jabba´s palace, the death star, the Empire. Anakin´s style is more "I know the system doesn´t work, it sucks but I will be damned if I don´t try to fix it or work around it" because he often feel as if he had no other choice.
Many fans take for granted the fact Luke forgave his father as his main personality trait when the opposite is the truth, Luke wasn´t a stranger to violence because he lived on a planet in which if you didn´t learn to take care of yourself you could die and as part of the rebellion he wasn´t a stranger to killing imperials and losing loved ones to the cause, the interesting thing about Luke´s CHOICE of saving his father isn´t that it was part of his nature all along, it´s the fact that´s pretty much agaisn´t his natural temperament, saving Vader went agaisn´t his natural care for family, Vader may be his father but he hurt his friends and Leia, saving Vader was the least pragmatic choice acording to his identity as a rebel and Jedi, saving Vader went agaisn´t his own feelings of abandoment and yearning for a father feeling betrayed by Anakin´s turn to the darkside.
Still Luke made this choice because he felt how utterly isolated and broken Vader was and he cared enough for the image of the father he never knew, a father he knew could still be there, to show him some uncomplicated, familiar love once again, the kind his aunt and uncle showed him, if only for Luke´s own peace of mind that he truly tried everything to make his father feel better, while his pragmatic side took care of things by letting Leia know about his mission and telling her they had to attack the DSII anyway even if he was there because the cause of freeing the galaxy from the Empire was still more important than his personal feelings and issues with his father.
The narrative gives Luke the victory, saving his father from the darkside which lead to the destruction of the Emperor and the Empire, for being loving and compassionate despite this not coming natural to him but as part of his personal grow and maybe, as the legacy of the two women who shaped his family without him meeting them, Shmi and Padme and the person his father used to be.
Luke and the Skywalker family in general are waaay more than some fans give them credit.
Thanks for the question anon

ok look i need to elaborate on the Satine Accidentally Creates A Mandalorian Empire (also adopts people) AU because once i start talking i can't stop.
This all starts because Satine isn't searched thoroughly enough when she's captured by Death Watch. Because a pacifist Duchess wouldn't carry any weapons, right?
Wrong! Just because she's a pacifist doesn't mean she won't defend herself, remember? It just so happens that she carries a deactivator pistol, which shoots energy blasts capable of taking out droids, and it also just so happens that Death Watch's new leader is part droid.
Satine disables Maul's legs moments before she would have been impaled.
Bo-Katan tries not to cackle as she informs Satine that she is technically the new owner of the Darksaber. In any other situation, Bo would be furious, but the irony of it is just too much.
Anyway, time skip ahead. Satine is trying to maintain Mandalore's neutrality in the war while also keeping the Nite Owls on a metaphorical backpack leash and negotiating with the remaining Mauldalorians. She refuses to carry the Darksaber, so Bo puts it in storage with Satine's old armor. (The Ahsoka-on-Mandalore arc doesn't happen, FYI.) Then, they get news of the whole Empire deal. The Death Watch Mandalorians try to throw a party at the news of Order 66.
Then Obi-Wan shows up on their doorstep with a heavily pregnant senator and a little girl.
Padme is brought to a medcenter for treatment, and with better care, she survives the birth of her children.
But more important than that is Reva Sevander.
Because in this universe, Obi-Wan sensed one single light in the darkness of the temple, and lifted the trembling girl from the pile of bodies she'd hidden herself in. Obi-Wan takes her to Mandalore along with Padme. A Mandalorian doctor treats her wounds as she breaks down, sobbing out the truth of what happened.
Soon enough, rumors are flying from Mandalorian to Mandalorian, murmuring that the Jedi children were slaughtered too.
Some warrior Mandalorians hate Jedi more than they love children. Most of them love children more than they hate Jedi.
They nearly start another civil war over which one of the clans should be allowed to adopt the jet'ika girl. Finally, Satine steps in, proclaiming that this fighting is only hurting Initiate Sevander, and that the child will be Satine's personal ward.
Word gets out.
Vader sends his first Inquisitor on a mission to kill the Initiate and any Mandalorians who dare to defy the Empire's orders.
Bo-Katan sends the Inquisitor back in several pieces.
(The Empire decides to hold off on attacking Mandalore just yet.)
Anyway, Vader isn't the only one to hear about Satine adopting a Jedi girl. Word spreads to others.
Ahsoka comes first, dragging a tied-up clone Captain and demanding the use of a medcenter immediately. A few weeks later, Kelleran Beq and Grogu arrive. Caleb Dume follows, too weary to be afraid of what could happen to him.
Mandalore--which is nearly next door to Dathomir--picks up a distress signal that nobody else could have. Bo-Katan and squad of Nite Owls (including their newest recruit, Ahsoka) investigate, and they bring home a ragged Jedi and a little girl. Satine, who will never regret helping the Jedi but has been getting severe stress headaches at the number of floating objects in her life, nearly breaks down in tears when she hears the Dathomirian child excitedly discussing the undead with their newest Jedi rescue, a redhead boy who won't explain why he refuses to take off his gloves. She didn't sign up for this she didn't sign up for this she didn't sign up for this--
It doesn't stop her from taking in each new Jet'ika they find. The Sundari palace is full of younglings, and while Bo-Katan complains about it frequently, she's having so much fun as the wine aunt to two dozen miniature Jedi (and she even encourages her Nite Owls to listen for rumors of surviving Jedi and rescue them).
(Ahsoka becomes the unofficial go-to babysitter for Sabine and Tristan, and while I'm not a fan of Force-sensitive Sabine in canon, the hilarity of it in this AU is too much to pass up because imagine Ursa's face when Ahsoka breaks it to her that so um just FYI your daughter has space magic.)
Okay, enough about the Jedi (for now.) On to the war against the Empire!
So, Satine has been facing a lot of moral dilemmas, including what do you do when your enemies are evil and they're attacking your borders and they really can't be reasoned with? and she's solved most of them by giving Bo-Katan begrudging permission to "handle it." She's made it very clear that civilian casualties are absolutely unacceptable, and Bo-Katan huffs and says fiiiiine.
But then a nearby planet besieged by the Empire sends a plea for help. What can Satine do? Refusing goes against everything she stands for, but this would be a counterattack by Mandalore, not just self-defense!
In the end, there's no other answer. She sends the Nite Owls (and a Jedi who volunteered) to help the people and hopes that will be the end of it. She has her hands full already just trying to protect Mandalore!
But it happens again. And again. Satine still refuses to start a war against the Empire.
That changes when Sundari itself is full-on attacked.
Now, here's the thing about Satine.
She wasn't always peaceful.
It was the aftermath of the civil war--the destruction, the death, the needless suffering without a purpose, the fighting that she had been a part of--that made her a pacifist.
But when she runs to the palace window to look out at the city, listens to the bombs falling and the frantic comms from Bo-Katan's forces about the losing battle and the dying civilians, sees the Jedi rushing to shelter their children because one reason the Empire is here is to kill them, Satine remembers why she fought.
She spent fifteen years rebuilding Mandalore to be a peaceful, thriving society that no longer destroyed itself, and now someone else has come to burn it to the ground.
"Bring me my armor," she commands in a low, cold voice. "And the Darksaber."
The Empire is about to find out what happens when a pacifist goes to war.

Hi, do you have any fic recs for Clone War fics where Ahsoka (and possibly Rex?) recognize that Anakin is a bad general/Jedi? I recently started rewatching TCW after my last time watching it, back when I was still a preteen, and I'm just shook at how much of an asshole and horrible general Anakin is?? I am quite literally on episode 6 of season!
Most of these are taken straight from my previous fic rec list specifically for anti-Anakin fics (there's others in there where other characters like Obi-Wan, Padme, and Fives figure out Anakin's a piece of shit too if that's up your alley).
and the tide rises, the tide falls series by blackkat: This one probably is going to fit your request the most since there is a LARGE focus on Rex and Ahsoka coming to terms with the Tusken massacre and what this means about who Anakin truly is and their relationships with him.
Wasted Training by TheSecondBatgirl: This one has Ahsoka getting some revelations about that training Anakin gave her in TOTJ being perhaps not so great.
The Burden of Secrets by Peppermint_Shamrock: This might be more Anakin-positive than you were looking for, but it deals with Ahsoka finding out about the Tusken massacre and how she deals with that. It also is set just after the Rako Hardeen arc, so there's some mentions of how Anakin isn't managing his feelings about that in a healthy way, too.
"... if you remain his student" by peppermint_shamrock: This one fits within the "Clone Wars" timeline by a hair since it is set DURING Order 66 in an AU where the Wrong Jedi arc doesn't happen (or Ahsoka just didn't leave, I can't remember) and so she's at the Temple when Anakin marches on it with the 501st. Ahsoka has to come to some VERY quick realizations about her master and doesn't get long to really dwell on it.
The next two are not TECHNICALLY set "during the Clone Wars" because one is set post-Order 66 and one is a happy fix-it AU set post-war. I am including them because they do definitely have storylines about Rex and/or Ahsoka having to come to some realizations about Anakin, but they don't technically fit your request.
Slices of Happiness series by kj_feybarn: This one is focused more on Obi-Wan, but there's some stuff in here about Rex coming to some realizations about Anakin, too.
The Greater Crime by kj_feybarn: This is set post-Order 66 in an AU where Rex and Ahsoka meet up with Obi-Wan and Padme and they all go on the run together, so obviously Rex and Ahsoka find out the truth about what Anakin's done pretty quickly and struggle with that revelation. It also has a follow-up fic Cruel by TheStageManager that's more Ahsoka focused.

hmmm, what are you in the mood for?
running with the wolves to get to you, 10k, rated G
Jango and Obi-Wan have been keeping an important secret as their relationship develops, which is that they’re both werewolves. Besides that minor detail, things are going great – at least until their car breaks down on a road trip and the only place they have to stay is an abandoned hotel. The day before Halloween. Which is on a full moon. No way this could go wrong, right?
who you are makes me who i am, 10k, rated G
Boba isn’t the kind of person who forms connections with people. ‘Friends’ are a foreign concept, and the idea of love is even more confusing. Then he saves a woman’s life, and she saves his, and he starts to wonder if it’s all as strange to him as he thinks.
the arms of the ocean delivered me, 11k, rated G
Two years ago, Echo was badly injured by humans, and taken to the Skako Minor aquarium. It's only after he's lost all hope that he finally has a chance to get home, thanks to meeting the Batch - the only other merpeople he's seen since losing his family. When the Batch drops everything to protect him and get him home, is it really any surprise that he wants them to stay?
ghosts have voices, 16k, rated T
Still reeling from Order 66, Obi-Wan finds an even bigger problem on Mustafar: a powerful Dark Side entity that feeds on the life force of Jedi. He’s lucky to escape with baby Luke and Leia, but his regret at their parents’ deaths isn’t the only thing that follows him from the lava moon. The entity is on the hunt. Stranded on a poisonous planet, the odds of surviving aren’t in Obi-Wan’s favour. At least he has an ally in Cody – but even if they manage to escape, Obi-Wan doesn’t know how to ask the man he secretly loves to stay.
if i don't make it back from where i've gone, just know i loved you all along, 23k, rated T
A movie AU where Leonardo travels back in time with Casey. Because even though Leonardo doesn’t want to live any more, Casey doesn’t want to give up on him, and maybe, just maybe, Casey has enough hope for both of them. Or, from my rambling while planning this fic: “future Leo is just so much fun because he's spent the past 22 years demonising his past self for starting the apocalypse but then when he travels back in time to the day it happened so he can stop it, he realises his past self was just a dumb naive kid who had no idea of the potential consequences, so future Leo decides to be gentle with him and it's the only self-love he's ever had because he's always hated himself a little”. As well as “Leonardo trying to break the cycle by being kind to his past self (while still hating his current self) makes me want to put him in therapy and I think makes Dr Delicate Touch want to use him as a piñata”.
this family can bear any weather, 30k, rated G
When Donnie gets his hands on the Arc Capacitor after the events of Out of the Shadows, he decides to repurpose the tech for his own use. Unfortunately the first test run doesn't go well, and he's accidentally transported to a different dimension. His first thought is to find the new reality's version of Donnie, so they can work together to find him a way back home, but while trying to find their lair, he finds a much different version of his brothers instead. At eight, nine, and ten years old, the young turtles are hopelessly lost in the sewers beneath the city, and their only chance at getting home is Donnie. Between finding a way to get four lost turtle kids back to their dad, and finding a way to get himself back to his own reality, he's got a lot to do. AKA the Rise/Bayverse crossover that exactly nobody asked for but I'm writing all the same. Updating Fridays.
Clever Girl, 50k, rated T
A year after defeating Commander Krang, the turtles discover that the Foot Clan intends to bring Shredder back to life. Hoping to stop this plan before it begins, they travel to a secret base, looking for the intended project head, Baxter Stockman. They find the base, they don't find Stockman, and more important than either of those things, they find dinosaurs. Four turtles, four Utahraptors - what could go wrong?
or if you really want a long read, one of my favourites:
two's company, three's a crowd, four's a love story, 91k, rated T
post-BOBF canon Din Djarin/Omera/Cobb Vanth/Paz Vizsla
There’s some BOBF spoilers/references in here, and it's set post-show, but tbh you probably won’t be able to tell canon from headcanon unless you’ve seen the show and know the difference already. Boba, Fennec, the Armorer, and Luke Skywalker make brief appearances in a few scenes. Anyway this is just me in denial of Paz’s BOBF characterization and the fact that Cobb and Omera have only existed for like 15 minutes total in live action. Welcome to my immense amount of headcanons! The majority of this fic is from Din's POV, but there's also a few chapters each from Paz's, Omera's, and Cobb's POV.

So I was watching the Wrong Jedi arc (yes I cried, yes i hate myself, yes I hate Dave Filoni) and I got an idea.
What if the Jedi trusted Ahsoka? Bc despite what some people seem to think, they weren't evil monsters. The Jedi were just trying their best.
Anyway, I think that it would change the story a lot. One of the main reasons Anakin Skywalker, mister main character, fell, is because he had lost both his padawan and his faith in the Jedi council. So if Ahsoka not only stays around, but the Jedi trust and support them, maybe Anakin doesn't loose faith. Maybe Palpatine dies in a tragic elevator accident that definitely didn't have anything to do with Fox.
I have so many ideas for this AU, but the main one is just how Ahsoka can grow without Order 66 completely wrecking her life.. How she can turn from an annoying youngling to the one of the wisest and most powerful Knights. But most importantly, she gets her brothers, she gets her masters, she gets her family, and she gets to be Auntie Ahsoka.
This is all just an excuse to give Ahsoka a happy ending :)

TBB Reverse!AU
Chapter one is finished!!! Still haven't figured out a name for this series, so I'll take any suggestions yall have!!
Summary: Crosshair and Echo watch the rest of their team succumb to the chip's control.
Warnings: Character death, canon character death, violence, canon divergence, alternate universe
WC: 2591
---------------
Crosshair didn’t know what to think when he turned to see the regs firing at their Jedi General. Over the sound of blaster fire, he could hear her voice screaming at her padawan to run. Her terror-filled voice sent shivers down the sniper's spine. The Padawan was running in their direction but skidded to a stop when he noticed them in front of him. The Padawan looked at the Bad Batch in fear, taking a shaky step back before turning and disappearing into the snowy woods.
Crosshair looked between the regs running toward the batch and the woods where the kid disappeared, trying to figure out what had caused the regs’ sudden turn.
The realization that Tech was reading something off his datapad had Crosshair snapping his attention back to his brother. Tech explained that General Grievous had been defeated, marking the end of the war. “The com channels are repeating one directive.” Tech’s demeanor changed as he read the next line, “Execute Order 66.”
The moment the words left Tech’s mouth, Crosshair knew something was wrong. He watched as everyone but Echo stiffened. Hunter’s sharp eyes growing eerily distant.
“We need to go after the kid,” Echo broke the strange silence, pointing to where the padawan had disappeared, “He’s gonna get himself killed out there alone!”
Hunter glared at Echo, causing the Corporal to take a step back. “The kid is a jedi. The order includes him,”
“The order??” Echo’s eyes were wide with shock, “Hunter! He’s a kid! We don’t even know what the ‘order’ is!”
“Good soldiers follow orders.”
A pause. Echo’s confused and pleading eyes stared back at Hunter’s distant ones before the Sergeant turned towards where the kid had vanished. “...what?”
Following the trail of small footsteps through the snow, Hunter ignored the ARC. Not another word was uttered as Tech and Wrecker followed behind him, holding their weapons at ready. Echo watched them go, turning towards Crosshair, who hesitantly followed the others.
Before Crosshair could go any further, Echo grabbed his arm desperately. “Crosshair, I know you guys don’t work with the Jedi almost ever, but come on! It’s a kid!!”
Crosshair nodded. “Believe me, I know. Something’s… off. Hunter would never-“
Blaster fire echoed through the mountain range. Crosshair whipped his head around, looking down towards the woods before back up at Echo. Not a word was exchanged as both immediately took off down the snowy slope after their brothers.
The blaster fire stopped as they got closer. Crosshair’s breath caught in his throat as they spotted the rest of the batch. At Hunter’s feet lay the motionless body of the padawan, four blaster burns decorating the young boy’s chest. His eyes were open, but their light was long gone. His round, childish features were frozen in an expression of permanent fear.
The Padawan’s lightsaber was clenched in Hunter’s fist, helmet concealing all emotions on his face. Crosshair could see in the Sergeant’s body language, there was not an ounce of guilt or regret.
Everything about his brothers was wrong. Wrecker was silent, not a single joke or quip escaping his lips. Through the clear visor of Tech’s helmet, Crosshair could see how distant his eyes were, fixed on his datapad, not sparing a glance at the small body at his feet.
The regs were getting closer. Crosshair could hear their boots crunching in the snow behind him, but his eyes refused to leave the boy, smoke still rising from his wounds. His brothers had just murdered a child and the only one who seemed to care at all was Echo.
“We’ve been ordered back to Kamino.”
Crosshair tore his eyes away from the child to glare at Tech. There was no emotion behind his words, no Tech explanation, just orders. Hunter barely acknowledged Tech before walking back up the slope, ignoring Crosshair and Echo all together as he passed. Tech and Wrecker were quick to follow, their steps oddly in sync as they followed their Sergeant.
Crosshair spared a glance back at the young padawan, now being moved by the regs, before nodding at Echo to follow him. Staying further back from the other three, Crosshair and Echo fell into step beside each other.
“Something is seriously wrong with them, Cross,” Echo whispered harshly.
Crosshair studied his brothers as they walked, their movements seemingly not their own. “I know. It’s all wrong,” Very, very wrong.
They continued to follow Hunter at a distance throughout the trek back to the Marauder. Crosshair could feel the uneasy feeling radiating from the ARC that was still in step with the sniper.
When they reached the Marauder, Crosshair climbed the ramp behind Echo, his feet barely hitting the top step before Tech started to raise them. On any other day, Crosshair would have made some snarky comment about waiting for him to be inside before shutting the ramp, or even just an annoyed huff and a glare. Today? Crosshair didn’t even bother to look in Tech’s direction, making his way directly to his bunk. He sat down, keeping his Firepuncher in his hands and ignoring the helmet still on his head. He didn’t want his brothers to see the concern that he was sure was all over his face. He knew his brothers; he knew them better than they knew themselves. Whoever was sitting in the cockpit, were not his brothers.
Not even two weeks ago, Crosshair had watched Hunter almost get himself killed trying to protect a kid. He refused to believe that he had just witnessed that same brother murder a child for treason of all things.
That kid couldn’t have been older than thirteen. Why was he even on a battlefield to begin with?
Crosshair could understand a few Jedi committing treason. They had heard of the massacre on Umbara, a Jedi General who pulled just the right strings to trick two battalions to fire upon each other. Hundreds of regs had been murdered for no other reason than Krell finding power hungry satisfaction in their deaths. Apparently Captain Rex had asked the ex-general why he did it and his answer had simply been ‘because I can’.
Crosshair never cared for the regs, but reading that report had his stomach churning. They weren’t even supposed to have access to those reports, but Tech had gotten curious, hacking in and retrieving the reports in a matter of minutes. They had made sure to delete them when Echo had joined, not needing the ARC knowing the horror his late twin had gone through without him.
Crosshair honestly wouldn’t have batted an eye if they had just gone after the Jedi Council. He could count on one hand how many times they had worked with a Jedi, Skywalker being the only one that Crosshair tolerated, but for them to be ordered to murder the padawans? Something extremely screwed up was happening and whatever it was, was coming directly from the top of command.
Crosshair felt as the ship dropped out of hyperspace, leaving him to assume they had arrived back on Kamino. He sighed, forcing himself to stand before making his way to the cockpit. The room was eerily silent as Tech piloted the Marauder towards Tipoca City, his normal fast maneuvers nowhere to be seen. Crosshair hated the way the ship barely rocked as they landed, all Tech’s movements almost droid like.
Echo sat in the co-pilot’s seat, his helmet still secure on his head. Hunter and Wrecker also still wore their helmets, and for once, Crosshair missed the ruckus that was supposed to be their normal.
Hunter exited the Marauder, Wrecker and Tech falling in step as they made their way down the ramp. Crosshair stopped beside the door, waiting for Echo to exit before he followed. Crosshair was the first to notice the hover gurney, a sheet pulled over what was clearly a body being guided across the hanger. He watched as a lightsaber rolled off the gurney, clanging against the metal floor, rolling to a stop at the feet of a reg.
The colors of the surrounding armor caught the sniper’s attention, confusion overtaking him as he spotted the scarlet red of the Corrie Guard. The other companies made sense being here, but seeing the Guard on Kamino made the pit in Crosshair’s stomach sink deeper.
Wordlessly, he continued to follow his brothers through the white halls of Tipoca city; the corridors filled with more troopers than Crosshair had ever seen on Kamino at once.
The batch came to an abrupt stop as Hunter held up his fist. “We’ve got company,” he stated almost coldly. He turned around, the rest of the batch doing the same, quickly spotting their tail.
A small girl stood behind them, waving at the batch, a smile decorating her face. “Hi! I’m Omega!”
Crosshair glanced at Hunter, gauging his reaction as the child introduced herself, his face giving nothing but annoyance. The Sergeant didn’t bother replying to the child, signaling the batch to follow as he began to walk away. The look that came over the girl’s face as Hunter turned away from her had the sniper sneering at the Sergeant.
Echo looked at her with a look of sympathy, offering her a forced smile, “Sorry, kid. We’ve had a rough day. Just… don’t take it personally,”
The girl returned his smile. The look of betrayal on her face stabbed the sniper. He didn’t know who this kid was, but it was evident this child had been excited to meet them, and Hunter barely gave the poor girl a glance.
Echo turned and began to follow the rest, but Crosshair couldn’t help but stare at the girl a little longer. She met his gaze, something in her eyes sending a wave of calm over him. He couldn’t bring himself to return her smile, but he nodded to her, “Stay out of trouble, kid,”
That seemed enough for her, her smile growing just a bit brighter. She waved to him as he turned to catch up with the rest of his brothers.
Something about her was familiar, like he knew, but he couldn’t place it. Her smile burned into his mind, her look of innocence as she introduced herself, the look of betrayal as his brothers cast her off as nothing. He couldn’t get her out of his head, he knew he would likely run into her again, and for a reason Crosshair couldn’t place, he looked forward to it.
—-----------
The Empire. That’s what the republic had now become. A galaxy wide empire with one man sitting at the top, in charge of it all. The thought of a single man being the voice of reason and law didn’t sit well with the sniper. The war was finally finished, yet somehow, Crosshair knew the fight was far from over.
Crosshair began to notice the difference in the regs’ behavior as well, seeming almost as though their minds weren’t their own. Regs never got along with the batch. Insults being thrown their way was just the way of life with the batch when they were on Kamino, but the regs acted as though the batch didn’t exist.
Crosshair eventually found himself in the mess hall, his brothers silently eating around him. He absently stared at the food on his tray, his appetite practically nonexistent. The sniper hadn’t expected much to happen during their meal, seeing as the regs had been weirdly ignoring, but the last thing he expected was a small body sitting to his right. Crosshair looked to see the girl again, smiling up at him as she set her tray beside his. She looked around at the rest of the batch waving, her bright smile still plastered on her face. The only one who paid her any mind was Echo, offering the girls a small smile, and a slightly confused sounding ‘hello’. She looked back at the sniper, her smile now slightly saddened.
“You are aware, sitting with us might attract some unwanted attention?”
The girl’s smile didn’t waver. “But I want to sit with you so I don’t care what they think,” she stated matter-of-factly.
Crosshair tried and failed to hide the small smile that flashed across his lips. “What are you doing on Kamino, anyway?”
The girl shrugged, “I’ve been here all my life,”
Crosshair looked at her in confusion, “All your-?” The voice of a reg behind him had him stopping mid sentence.
“Oh look. The defect squad got themselves a new recruit!”
Crosshair turned to see a small group of regs walking by, a smug look on every one of their faces. Omega shrunk slightly in the seat next to him, which just pissed the sniper off more. Crosshair wasn’t one to start fights with other regs, especially when they were on Kamino, but it was taking everything in him not to launch himself at the smug bastard.
Another reg laughed, “One more member for the sad batch,”
The only thing stopping the sniper now was a small hand that came to rest on his arm, the girl’s face offering him a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry, Crosshair. They’re not worth it,”
The regs walked away, laughing and throwing insults over their shoulder. Omega turned back to the table, offering the sniper a reassuring smile, before starting to eat. Crosshair watched the young girl in fascination, wondering why the child had grown up on Tipoca, of all places. Across the table, Echo was watching her as well, glancing at Crosshair with a look of confusion.
“You said you grew up here on Kamino?” Echo questioned, leaning forward and resting his scomp on the table.
Omega nodded, “I work with Nala Se as her medical assistant.”
Crosshair’s confusion continued to grow as the girl smiled at Echo. “...You’re just a kid? Why would they bring you to Kamino-“
“Crosshair,” Hunter’s voice cut him off. The sniper turned to the Sergeant, meeting his gaze, “Tell the girl to get lost. We are about to leave.”
Crosshair just stared at him as he stood up, quickly followed by Wrecker and Tech. Crosshair turned back to Echo and then to Omega, who looked as though she was holding back tears. He looked back at Echo, holding down the anger that was starting to boil. “If he snaps at me one time, I’m gonna hit him.”
Echo rolled his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Yeah, because assaulting your superior officer is a great idea when he’s acting insane.”
“...it’s not his fault.” Omega cut in, her voice barely above a whisper, “He doesn’t have a choice.”
“Doesn’t have-...? The hell does that mean?” Crosshair questioned, a bit more harshly than he wanted, “We’re not droids, kid.”
Omega seemed to shrink into herself, but still looked up to meet the sniper’s eyes. “It’s their inhibitor chip. It’s making them act this way. It’s not their fault!”
“Inhibitor- what?” Echo stared at the kid, as she seemed to shrink even farther.
Before Omega could respond, a voice was calling his name from across the mess hall. He turned to see Hunter standing by the door, his bucket on his head. “Admiral Tarkin has requested for us to run a battle simulation. Let’s go. Both of you.” He barked before turning and disappearing through the door.
Crosshair turned back to Echo, clearly pissed. “...I’m gonna hit him.”

Au where mortis happens after the wrong jedi arc and after padme gets pregnant
Anakin heads to mortis alone, and with most of his relationships broken off, he hesitantly decides to stay. Seventeen years pass in the outer world, the empire has risen, and anakin is constantly trying to communicate with his loved ones through their bond.. it's unsuccessful until one day he manages to reach ahsoka after a mission gone wrong where ahsoka was either left behind or hurt by another group of rebels in a mass confusion.
Anakin, royally pissed and only having dieties as companions for the past decade, immediately leaves mortis with the son & daughter by his side, go to make sure ahsoka is okay and then decimate the group of rebels that hurt ahsoka

Ok. I’m a bid Dogma fan myself. I’ve been following you for a couple weeks or so now. Something happened to Dogma at 79’s right? Did I miss something?
I take it you're talking about these two posts specifically [X] [X].
Back before the Forceful Intervention AU was a thing, I wrote one of my very first drabbles (atrocious writing really but it was a big starting point for the narrative I started developing for the FIAU Universe) that, funnily enough, was about Dogma but never featured his point of view.
Instead it was about post-Umbara from the point of view of one of my natborn OCs who had actually taken the time to befriend Dogma (and a few other troopers) prior to the Umbara Arc, and her witnessing the 501st denigrating his name while heavily drunk (to be fair to them, they'd just come out of a really rough situation and wanted to escape it through indulging at 79's, and things quickly got out of hand because angry and sad drunk men don't think before they speak, and pointing the finger at Dogma was easier to do than admit the system they all follow is heavily flawed and cares not for them).
Unbeknownst to them (but not to Mae, the OC in question, who was informed by Olly), Dogma has been interrogated and sentenced in a flash trial, and been turned into a huge cover-up's scapegoat by the Chancellor to "preserve the Jedi's flawless image so as to not shake up the civilians who need to believe in their heroes more than ever".
Long story short, in their attempt to ignore how badly Umbara has shaken them up, Jesse and Fives make some really cruel comments at Dogma's expense, not knowing that he's already a dead man walking who will be sent to Kamino to be either reconned or decommed depending on what the Kaminoans decide is best. And Tup who's sitting with them, doesn't do anything to defend his twin's name and just lets the rest of the troopers laugh and add their own comments and assumptions into the mix.
And this is both witnessed by Olly who followed Mae and her two companions (two 104th ARCs she helped rescue from Krell's battalion who were originally a part of the squad Tup and Dogma were assigned to on Kamino) to make sure they would be ok, Mae herself who bursts into genuine tears over how helpless she felt because she couldn't help her friend, and both Bully and Jawbreaker who were disgusted with the 501st's behavior and started a bar fight to defend Dogma's name. Olly already being there, helped a squad of fellow corries put an end to said bar fight and carted off everyone involved to the drunk tank.
That's the body cam footage Dogma is obsessing over. The derogative comments and Tup quietly sitting there saying nothing to put an end to them, like he would have during their cadet days.
It both hurts him deeply and fuels a deep-seethed anger towards himself and the 501st that only grows more confusing after the Coruscant Guard has no trouble accepting Dogma as he is.
What did he do wrong that he was so horrendously rejected by his first family battalion that he'd been so proud of being a part of, but not by the second who extended their understanding and patience to him without question or ridicule at his shortcomings?
Was he just not good enough to be a part of the 501st? Not crazy or flexible enough to meet their demands? Was he just too dogmatic and set in his ways to be welcomed? Too rigid to be a vod? A perpetual outsider?
These are the questions that bring him back to that footage. It's a cycle of self-consciousness, self-hatred and grief that one day he will overcome. But it's not an easy or clean process.
Because it never is.

Sorry, Wrong Comms! : Hunter x Medic!Reader [Chapter 10]
Tumblr media
Warnings and Information: Intended audience is 13+ (18 if you squint). Should know the drill on my use of Mando'a, italics and my headcanons by now if you've been following along with the AU series this far. Star Wars and real-world swearing. Mentions of blood and bloodstains. More! Domestic! Clones! More wholesome sibling stuff to go around! Expanding on Hunter and Crosshair's "little" convo together using instances of dialogue to reference what happened in the past. Medic!Reader had a bad day (like predicted) so there's some mild angst/sadness after a brief moment of panic - there’s a line that could be interpreted as an instance of police brutality, but it’s kept very vague - but Hunter's there to make it better without diminishing feelings much like earlier that morning. No one's feeling bad on his watch today [I feel like Hunter's the kind of person who becomes a lot happier when he's in love… so~ At least that's the vibe I'm going for for this AU!] if he can help it. So that means more domestic Clone stuff along with more flavors of hurt/comfort!! Who's up for a little home cooking and snuggles?

Good to hear. No such luck. Up to elbows in injuries and bacta and disinfectant. It's a kriffing madhouse today like I was worried about.
> Sorry to hear, sweetheart. I'll take Omega with me to make sure Spoon's settling in okay.
thanks Hunt
> Anytime, mesh'la.
"Was 'Hunt' a nickname? How cute." Echo teases once he's sent off the message, handing his brother the device after he's gotten his shoes laced up to set off with Omega. "Very funny, Ech."
Echo laughs in partial disbelief at the dismissive tone. "You think it's a typo?" C'mon, if she shortened the name of their explosive ordnance expert to Wreck as a nickname, it made plenty of sense to the ARC for Hunt to be a nickname too.
"Could be. Or she was in a rush." Hunter suggests with a shrug. "She's too busy to check on Crosshair's new best friend during lunch."
Echo shrugs in return, ignoring for a moment the sniper's laugh from another part of the house. "Good point. Just hope the kid's going to have a moment to eat something between patients." It wasn't exactly a regular thing for the medic to call her day at the clinic something beyond just a little hectic, but manageable to his memory.
"We'll be back!" Omega calls into the house as she and Hunter skip down the stoop together, cheerfully waving good-bye over her shoulder. It isn't long before she looks at him with an expression he knows means she's got questions or things she wants to say that she's refraining from saying. "Out with it," Hunter urges softly with a hand on his sister's shoulder, "What's on your mind, ad'ika?"
Omega glances at her shoes, kicking a pebble to the side as she walks alongside him, trying and struggling to match his stride. "What did… you and Crosshair talk about?" She smiles appreciatively when Hunter takes notice and makes an effort to slow down his walk and fall out of the habitual march.
"Oh, a lot…" Hunter replies simply, unsure what to say at first honestly. "Kaller, for sure. And the chips… spent a while wondering how that Jedi-kid… uh, Padawan… how the Padawan must be doing if he's survived this long after I let him escape." Hunter steals a glance at Omega, knowing she's heard him argue with Cross about it in the past. Those venomous arguments in the cockpit or cargo-hold of the Marauder while so deep in hyperspace it was often another standard cycle before they'd reach the next planet. Seen their bruises when things came to blows before Wrecker could strong-arm them apart.
Heard them both grumble that "Maybe it would be preferable to be eaten by some of the megafauna Tech's warning us about than see the other's face any time soon!" when they stalked down the gangplank upon landing on Kashyyyk. Hunter knew she'd stayed behind with Wrecker who'd promptly trotted back into the attack shuttle in dismay while Tech trailed after Crosshair, and Echo after Hunter, trying to talk sense into the respective brothers.
"The first thing Hunter does every time we get an excuse to come to Kashyyyk is take off his helmet a-and he gets this great big smile on his face! He didn't do that this time a-and Hunter loves Kashyyyk! They're still fighting all the time even though the chips are gone; and I'm sick of it! I don't understand what's going on, I thought they'd be better by now and… I-I-I just want my brothers back!!"
WHAM!
"Wr-Wrecker that's a critical panel! Please don't go punching holes in our medbay equipment! What if one of us gets sick?!"
Hunter takes a deep breath, reaching in his pocket for the keycard that would unlock [____]'s front door. "We… also did a lot of apologizing for not being better brothers in the past. For how much we fought. For how much I avoided trying to understand what was happening to my brother because of his inhibitor chip when he needed me… I- uh oh. That's not good." he stops mid-sentence when there's a greatly delayed response from the panel as he uses the keycard.
Her front door opens only part of the way before it gets stuck. Badly. It's open wide enough that Spoon could easily get out when there's no telling where she'll be in the house. Omega would probably have to slip through the gap and see if she can't close it from the inside. Or at least make sure the Tooka kitten doesn't scamper out the door while Hunter calls Tech.
Omega looks just as panicked as her little brother. "Wh-what do we do, Hunter?"
"See if you can get inside. We should make sure Spoon stays put. I'm going to message Tech." Omega shimmies through the gap quickly, and as he's trying to get Tech on the comms channel, the inner panel is making sounds that suggest the whole thing is royally kriffed. "It won't close!"
"Don't panic, Omega. Go see if you can't find Spo-"
"Yes, Hunter?" Tech sounds calmer than he was this morning, for now. Less irritable. That's a good sign. "What is it?"
"Tech, how do you feel about fixing [____]'s front door? This thing won't open or close all the way. Panel won't respond either." Calm is out the door now as Hunter can hear the crack of the mechanism before the door to Wrecker and Tech's room is thrown open once it's been unlocked. The other vode are either laughing as a way to cope with being startled, or Tech truly looks as delighted by the prospect of something to fix as he sounds when he shouts "I will be right there!" before mashing the disconnect.
"Aww, you're so cute! I found Spoon! She was pacing outside what must be [____]'s room!" Omega calls from inside, giggling. "And [____] put her pictures I drew for her birthday up in her room, too! Just like she said!" Hunter smiled, not surprised that his sister's curiosity had gotten the better of her for a moment and led to the discovery. So much for showing her himself. Oh well.
"Yeah, she sure did. That was quick, wasn't it? Tech's coming to get the door fixed for [____], so we might be here for a while." Through the gap, he could see Omega with the young female Tooka he'd met the other night carefully cradled in her arms, nodding to express her understanding. "That's okay! But… won't that mean we won't be able to-" Omega paused, glancing around for a time device somewhere in the home, "Are we going to make it to the place we need to get the paint from before it closes if it takes Tech a long time?"
The shop they needed to get the color from in the spaceport ran at odd hours of business. He was certainly excited to get his room dressed up at long last with the recent nudge, but some of his siblings were more outwardly excited than him.
Hunter just smiled reassuringly, watching as Spoon carefully climbs up Omega's shoulder and tries inspecting the girl's blonde hair. "There'll always be tomorrow if this does run long, Omega. [____]'s said the clinic is really busy today, so I'd rather not add one more thing for her to take care of once she's closed."
Omega nods once more to show she understands, slower this time. "Right… Makes sense."
"Hunter!" Tech was jogging up the street, carrying a case full of tools in the crook of his arm. "I'm here! … Where's Omega?"
"You got here fast," Hunter chuckles, taking the tools to allow Tech to double over and catch his breath, "and Omega's inside to make sure someone's got an eye on our friend's new little Loth-cat. Now, once you've caught your breath, would you like me to help, or just stay out of your way?" He, admittedly, still hasn't gotten to know Tech's tools quite like Echo did once he'd joined their squad, so oftentimes he wasn't sure what his brother meant by codes like "S-17 and a twist", but he was willing to try to assist if Tech would allow.
Tech only blinked at Hunter with surprise. It'd been a long time since Hunter had offered help after the last time Tech had waved him away. "You want to help me?" He now felt… almost a little guilty for continually waving Hunter off.
"Well, sure…! Only if you're okay with a little verbal hand-holding to make sure I understand what tools you're asking for." Hunter told him with an earnest smile.
Tech nods slowly, reaching to take the case of tools. "Of course. I'd be… happy to have you help me."
Tumblr media
"Hand me the second-smallest spanner, please. There's a blue paint smear on it."
"Here," Hunter pawns the tool off into the palm of Tech's outstretched hand through the gap in the doorway as they get the inside panel synced up with the outside panel, "trade you for the spanner you don't need."
"There. Just lay it in the toolbox for now. Might need it again." Tech passes back the other spanner, humming thoughtfully to something Omega says while she plays with the Tooka on the floor. "Hmm… perhaps. Not a bad idea."
Hunter peeks into the house. "What's not a bad idea?"
"Inviting [____] to dinner at our place." Omega repeats, giggling as Spoon playfully pounced after a toy she'd thrown down the hall.
"Mm, maybe. She might be pretty tired afterwar-"
Fwreep! Fwreep-reep-reep!
Speaking of [____]; she's sent Hunter several messages rather suddenly... No, not just Hunter, on second look. It's the wider group of siblings so they all see the same thing.
IMP AT CLINIC.
STAY AWAY.
STAY HOME.
STAY!! HOME!! DO NOT CONTACT ME!!
The message is chilling. Tech stares at the message, a slight tremor in his voice betraying the calm façade in the rest of his face. "That's not good..." Omega looks over at her brothers after reading the message herself, a panicked whine climbing out of her throat. He tries to ignore the roar of blood in his ears as his heart begins to race. Imperials at her clinic? Oh galaxy and all her stars…
"Let's get this panel set and get home, Tech. Omega, get your shoes on so we're ready to leave as soon as possible." [____] didn't live too far from her clinic, a modest little place not too far from the shipyards of the travel-hub either. Returning home would be the safest option for them.
Things would definitely have to wait now.
Omega's voice was choked as she hurriedly stuffed her feet into her footwear and exited the house. The panel was quickly finished before being closed up, set and locked before the three of them took the long way home, jogging up the side streets. "I-Is she… Hunter, do you think [____]'s in trouble?"
"I don't know, ad'ika. Kriff, I hope not." Hunter scooped Omega off the street so they could move faster, growing more nervous with every stumble his sister makes trying to keep up with the two war veteran brothers that she’s going to trip in her haste. He feels just as panicked as she looks and as Tech sounds while he’s reciting the various modifications he’s made to the Havoc Marauder under his breath. “I’m hoping she’ll find an excuse to send them away too.” he utters, returning the sniffled sentiment as Omega curls against his chest.
It’s a nice day outside, but each and every last window is shut and shuttered once the three of them make it inside.
And all goes quiet for an hour.
Tumblr media
Hunter remade his bed with the threadbare sheets for the time being, trying not to step into an anxiety spiral by keeping his hands busy along with his mind. The holofilm had been a nice distraction and killed a few hours of time as each member of Clone Force 99 waited out the clock.
I may need to come by and see everyone when I’m done. I can't promise I will. Please don't reply or drop by my clinic once I close. I don't know if this person with the Empire will insist on walking me home since I was given a lot of trouble. I'm closing early.
The vode found excuses to give themselves little opportunity for festering with worry. Ideas for some new, sturdy furniture that would fit in his room. There was some artwork that Tech had in mind. Crosshair called dibs on the old top sheet to use as new weapons cleaning rags. Wrecker was thinking about trying to replicate something from Kamino for dinner tonight. What Echo really wanted to do was go find out what ship that Imperial flew in on and kark up their controls; instead he's scouring the Holonet either for local news, or a decent strategy game. Omega really, really wants to message the medic with all the nervous questions she's teeming with, but they haven't been given an all-clear.
She's too antsy to touch any of the art supplies the brothers have scrounged up for her over the months, instead, she's using her nervous energy to quiz Tech for facts about the holofilm. From his room Hunter can hear something about the main lead having starred in five other films within the franchise and guest-starred in the pilot episode of the spin-off show.
And he just wants to make sure this Imperial personnel is not giving her trouble like the old pirates had been. He wants to make sure [____] feels okay and safe, but Hunter understands she's trying to keep him, them, safe by telling the vode they needed to stay away. She has a duty to the shattered cross to provide care to anyone seeking out the symbol of healers and healthcare.
Even those she disagreed with, hated even, when she did not wear the symbol.
"Where are you going Hunter?"
The bed's fixed back up. He doesn't have much more to do right now. "Just going to stretch my legs outside." He wants to wait outside for her. He knows that Echo knows that. There's no sense pretending the tracker means anything different.
"Don't… get your hopes up." Echo carefully suggests, his expression suggesting he's trying to do the same. They're all worried about their favorite medic, pretending otherwise is foolish. "I don't want you to be disappointed in case she's not coming by, brother."
"... I know."
The door shuts behind Hunter as he steps out, finding a comfortable step to sit on and kill some more time with his datapad in hand while keeping an eye out for the medic. As dusk envelopes the street, more pinpricks of light begin blinking in one by one in the darkening sky above as the sun begins to drop below the horizon.
He spends five minutes watching more and more stars "filling in" the sky above him as it darkens in half-interest before he hears the hydraulics signal that someone's coming out to join him. Faint notes of thin oil and sun-warmed cotton. It's not the smell of joint lubricant or machine oil, so it's not Echo or Tech, but the process of elimination temporarily makes him wonder if the ARC's kit of prosthetic care is sufficiently stocked. "Yeah, Cross?"
Right to it. No want for excuses. "Really going to sit out here for half an hour at the most waiting for [____]?"
At a leisurely pace, without the shortcut Wrecker made the day Hunter had been gravely injured by the bomb, it could take someone fifteen minutes to walk from their house to the medic's. "Want some company?"
"Not this time, vod. Thank you, though."
"... Hunter."
There was more the sharp-sighted brothers hadn't had the chance to discuss before Echo had made lunch for everyone. Shredded nerf steak meat between slices of bread toasted on one side using one of the hot plates. Echo did not cook as much due to the nature of his prosthetic appendage adding some challenges to meal prep, so the rare occasion he was set on the idea of cooking, the brothers knew it was going to be good.
As much as Hunter wanted to continue the conversation from this morning, much like Crosshair, there wasn't enough time. "Really," he insists, twisting sideways on the step to better look at his brother, "I don't plan on waiting out here much longer… I do appreciate your offer, but, sitting with me for the five more minutes would be-"
"Over before it started."
"Mhm."
Cross just nods, the action nearly lost when his head snaps in the same direction as Hunter's when notices the sound of [____]'s shoes coming up the street just before his brother turns back inside. "She got here quickly... I'll go inside so you two can kiss in private, lover boy. She'll be eager to see you." His brother's tone is teasing, but there's something… off, that prevents Hunter from joking back.
The air smells heavy and sour already, even so far away. But it's not just the nearly overbearing odor of the disinfectant or the trace of rubber gloves…
His heart jumps into his throat in a moment of panic. There's a heavy tang that follows her up the street. Blood. He stammers as he calls out her name, mind racing with a thousand different possibilities why her sleeves are stained in shades of red as he throws himself off that stoop. "A-are you hurt?!"
"N-no I'm… I’m not hurt." the medic murmurs, her voice impossibly soft.
It doesn't convince him. “You look hurt, [____], the blood-”
“None of it’s mine.” she insists as Hunter looks her over, his dark eyes searching every inch intently for signs of harm or injury to her person, “Someone was stupid and they antagonized an Imperial official in front of witnesses. It got nasty. Those who didn’t need critical care got sent to me. S-so that included the Imperial who was involved in the… fight.”
That final word and the tone of her voice sits like ice in his chest. “It wasn’t a fight, was it?” There's a chilling implication he's afraid of. Is it fear for himself, his brothers and sister? Is it fear for her?
She doesn’t want to answer that. “C-can I just come inside? I don’t want to go home right now.” [____] doesn't meet his eyes. She's hugging herself so tightly across the chest her knuckles are pale. The rustle of her coat sounds… slick and heavier, almost. Outside the halo of light from the front porch, he can't see just how extensive the stains must be.
“You can do more than that…” Hunter offers, ushering her inside by putting an arm around her shoulders comfortingly. “Wrecker hasn’t started on making dinner just yet, so let’s get you cleaned up.”
The mood shifts from being happy to see her to total worry and concern when the rest of the brothers see the dried blood on the sleeves of her coat, heaviest and densest at the wrist. Echo and Crosshair are trying to ask [____] questions, inadvertently talking over one another.
“Kid, are you okay?”
“Doc, what happened to you?”
Wrecker’s expressive, unmatching eyes just stay fixed on [____]’s coat sleeves even after Hunter helps her carefully take it off and check the rest of her clothing for stains. “That damn Imperial didn’t hurt you, did they?” He’s angry enough to knock the Imp’s head clean off. But he’s not going to do anything or make any effort (if any) to come up with a plan to deal with the filth responsible without hearing what his friend has to say. “No… just had a real mess to clean up.”
“Tha’s all that matters, then.” Wrecker says decidedly. If she wasn't hurt, she wouldn't want him stewing in that anger, so he shakes himself free of it as quickly as it had come. “I’ll, uh, find a clean towel you can borrow so you can use the ‘fresher to clean off…” he gestured simply to the sleeves of her med coat hung over Hunter's forearm. The less said about it right now the better. She looked like a gossamer thread away from simply falling apart in front of all of them; it had been a long time since the last Imperial that's shown up to her clinic like this… before she'd started… dating his brother.
Oh no wonder she was so much more scared than the last time. The last time she'd had one-of-them at the clinic she'd sent a much calmer warning message. It'd been humorous even.
"No one's allowed to break any bones to find an excuse to come see me until this Imperial leaves my clinic, okay? Stay home, friends."
It breaks his heart when the intonation of her voice remains the same. "Thanks, Wreck…" [____] murmurs. There's no smile. There's no frown. There's no light in those eyes. Wrecker recognizes that expression. He's seen it in too many battle-beaten brothers. He's seen it in the mirror since the end of the war when Clone Force 99 actually started losing missions.
Wrecker remembers the times Hunter has kept the ash-gray bell of his helmet on longer than necessary while sitting in the shadowy corners of the cargo hold of the Marauder. He knew what he'd see under his brother's helmet even when the face was obscured, and the tremble of his shoulders was almost entirely suppressed. The one and only time he had not been so careful to turn off the mic of his helmet, and had not shown as much restraint, had been three days after leaving Kashyyyk… when the marksman's furious, feverish whispering started. The first symptom of the parasite.
Sadly Wrecker knows that same haunted, hollow expression that becomes a stubborn mask to take off. No smiles. No frowns. But the heavy, choking silence. The building threat of trickling tears that patiently bide their time. He hopes that's not in store for [____]. (But if she really couldn't help it, he hopes she understands that they won't judge her.)
"We'll find some clothes you can change into after. Something that won't smell like antibac or cleaner. I'll show you how to get the water started." Hunter promises her, taking [____] by the elbow and following her to the 'fresher.

[____] lays quietly with Hunter in his room, curled up on her side on his bed in a pair of borrowed clothes found in the back of someone's closet that hadn't fit him quite right in some way. The two of them can hear Wrecker humming aimlessly through the kitchen while making a "better version" of cafeteria food Clone Force 99 had eaten probably hundreds of times while living and training on Kamino.
Omega has wandered in and out of Hunter's room since the medic had gotten dressed and laid her head on his thigh, working as Wrecker's little assistant to get the opinions of the other brothers to nail down the seasoning used in soup.
Hunter, seated at the foot of his bed with his back propped up by the wall, takes a sip from the third sample-cup Omega's carefully carried in from the kitchen. "Hmm that's… close! What'd Wrecker add besides more Kaminoan sea salt?"
Omega shrugs softly, glancing at [____]. "I think he called it catabar. Crosshair thinks it needs more pepper."
"Mm, maybe only a little more." Hunter agrees with a second testing. He offers the last of it to [____] to see if she's curious and willing to give it a try, but she doesn't indicate any interest, instead staring ahead at the wall as she continues to utilize a calming breathing exercise. "Are we going with the version of the recipe the four of us are more used to, tonight? Didn't Echo say the version that he's used to apparently has a lot more pepper?"
"Yeah, I remember when the recipe changed!" Omega giggles brightly before dropping her voice into a whisper, leaning in towards Hunter dramatically. "Wrecker's making a little batch of soup the way Echo liked it, but it's supposed to be a secret!"
Hunter chuckles, playfully tousling his sister's hair with his free hand. "Ohhh, is he now?"
"That's nice of Wrecker…" [____] mutters, almost absently. The first thing she's said beyond no or not really when Hunter asked if she wanted him to grab some clothing from home for her or if she wanted anything she left behind in her hurry to get away from her health clinic, away from the watchful eyes of an individual on the Empire's payroll. A fistful of the bedding rumples in her hand as she pushes herself off the mattress to sit up, sighing sharply as she draws her knees up under her chin. "... can always count on him tryna cheer people up."
Brother and sister share a silent exchange of expressions before Hunter tentatively lays an arm around the medic's upper back, prepared for [____] to shrug him off. But as Omega hoped, she takes the comfort her brother offers her, curling into Hunter's chest instead of turning him away. "Wrecker's made it a little, uh, habit since the war ended to try to make at least one person laugh every day… O-or smile." Omega says while allowing Hunter try to comfort their friend, balling her own fists in the material of Hunter's bedding. She's trying to find some excuse to keep her talking, or to just keep talking to the medic so it keeps her mind off of what's making her so solemn.
"Wrecker's good at that, yeah…" [____] sniffled softly.
Think, think, think! "Uh… oh, I played with Spoon when we went to check on her! She's so cute!"
"Was she doing okay? How was Spoon?"
Omega nods, glancing at Hunter with an urging look to say something. "She was fine, mesh'la. Omega was a big help and kept an eye on her while Tech and I got your front door fixed. It wasn't opening all the way when I used the card you gave me. Hopefully, it shouldn't give you any more trouble. You've had enough of that for one day; dare I say the rest of the week." It was Hunter's turn to shake his head in a silent signal to Omega. They were not going to bring up that they weren't home when they got the warning. "Think you could be convinced to avoid your clinic tomorrow? Take the day off… not worry about anything. When was the last time you took a day off from your clinic?" he asks softly.
"Uhm, not that long ago… My birthday, remember?" she reminds him, strangely timid to the realization that was only… wow, three days ago. (Just three?) Hunter scoffs softly, deliberately keeping his smile gentle as Omega scampers from the room, realizing she was keeping Wrecker waiting. "Well… I would argue that you could really use it after today." he says honestly, thinking back to something he and Crosshair discussed.
"You may not need to twist my arm that hard…" [____] hums in the warm cradle of his arms and broad chest.
"Don't know if I should call it funny or fitting that my brother with a sacrificial streak ended up falling for a woman who's much the same way."
"A wha-"
"A sacrificial nature. C'mon: the bedsheets, Hunter. They're the thinnest in the house. That's only the tip of the wing."
"...oh?"
"Even when you were karking pissed with me, you weren't giving me less than my fair share of rations; you gave me extra. You took the smallest room in the house. Omega wanted to continue doing art after enjoying it so much at [____]'s clinic the time she watched Omega for us, you put off replacing things like your sheets and used the leftover credits we got from that job to get her basic art supplies instead… You've been going without since the end of the war and no one's been sure what to say to you about it. We just- Why have you been…?"
"I'm not always the best at it, I know, but… I'm only trying to look out for everyone, keep everyone safe. Happy."
"...That includes you too from now on, Hunter."
"...Can I hold you to that?"
"I'll twist your damn arm if I have to."
"That's the brother I know."
Something drops in the kitchen with a great clatter, something ceramic sounds involved. Omega's sharp, reflexive gasp has the medic on the offense in an instant, heart hammering against her chest. "Oh Maker-!" A mere heartbeat later, Wrecker disarms everyone's worry, laughing bashfully. "It's okay!! Just dropped the ladle in the sink; nothing's broke, no one's hurt! Just got excited issall…"
[____] yelps softly with surprise when without so much as a word of warning or a deep breath to brace himself, Hunter has her pulled into his lap. "Hear that?" Each of his arms are now circled around her, tucking her comfortably and perfectly against his chest where she can feel the steady waves of reverberations as he speaks. "They're fine. No one's hurt, and everyone's still safe; you were very kind to warn us. You did your job trying to take care of the people you care about, ad'ika. Now it's our turn."
Tumblr media
"Uh… why are there two soup pots?" Echo mumbles to himself as he finds a seat at the table. "Well, guess it's not that weird, actually. Kid hasn't grown up on Kamino like the rest'a us." he reasons after some additional thought, nodding towards the medic seated across the table from him, next to Hunter who sat in the middle with Omega at his other side. She regards the second pot with a second look, this time with the same degree of confusion as the ARC trooper.
"I don't believe this one's for [____]." Tech muses as he inspects the contents of the ladle. "This one has more- ah!" He's figured it out by visual inspection alone. Of course now that he's figured it out and gone quiet, it'll probably drive Echo crazy that for once his younger brother won't elaborate on his conclusions.
"What? What is it?" Echo urges him.
Omega glances over at Wrecker, both stifling laughter long enough for Wrecker to say "It's for you, Echo!" with a splitting grin.
"You… you made some for me the way I like?"
Wrecker confirms the question with another bright smile. "Yeah; the original recipe before it was changed!" Crosshair snickered softly from across the table when Echo's jaw went entirely slack, feeling bold and daring enough to try teasing him while Wrecker portions out soup to everyone. "Manners, Echo. What do you say?"
"Th-thank you, Wrecker…" he stammers, collecting one of the spoons being passed around. "...I hope it wasn't too much extra effort."
"Nawh! Don't worry 'bout it, wasn't any trouble at all! Ended up making too much stock for just one pot before I added the meat and vegetables and didn't want to put it to waste. Whaddya think of it, [____]?" To Wrecker's memory, it was probably her first taste of what had been served to the Clones growing up.
Swallowing slowly with the weight of everyone's eyes on her, [____]'s shoulders steadily crept higher. "It's, uh…" the medic hesitates to say more, swirling the spoon absently through the broth and chunked meats and veggies.
"It's okay if you don't like it." Wrecker promises, giving her a grin and nod. Clone-food wasn't to everyone's tastes; it's why they avoided pulling any inspiration from the cafeteria rota often when they had her over for dinner. "We had some real tasty sandwiches that Echo made for lunch if you want somethin' else."
"Oh no-no-no, it's fine!" [____] blurts out, pulling her shoulders back. "It's really good soup, Wrecker, I promise. I just uh, d-didn't really get a chance to eat anything beyond a few sips of a nutri-shake at lunch before… y'know."
"Kriff hit the fan." Crosshair finished matter-of-factly, fishing up the largest chunk of meat in his bowl of soup. "Pity you didn't get a chance to eat, doc." he added, voice softer this time with sympathy.
[____] shrugged, leaning into Hunter's side after he slung an arm around her shoulders to offer her a side-hug to snuggle into. "Yeah..." she hums quietly, stirring up another suitable spoonful of soup with a frown, "pity's a word for it." Before lifting the next spoonful, she pauses, feeling the comforting gesture of Hunter's thumb making little circles in the borrowed clothing. While the five brothers hadn't said who'd dug out what from his wardrobe for her to find something that would fit her for the time being as her blood stained coat (and the rest of her clothing for good measure) soaked in their laundry machines, there was something about the top that seemed a little like Crosshair's style.
Hmm.
Hunter notices the pause and leans in close to her, "Everything okay?" he asks in a low and honeyed hum before his lips graze the soft plane of her cheek. He wouldn't care too much if his vode were watching him be affectionate with her out in common spaces like this, but being considerate of [____]'s feelings after the day she ended up having, he was mindful of how far he took things. "What's on your mind, cyar'ika?"
She smiles softly, and he's not initially certain whether that's in response to the mispronounced Mando'an pet name, or the increasing tickle of the several day's worth of stubble he has yet to shave, but the small gesture is a step in the right direction.
"I'll tell you after dinner." [____] promises him gently. She had a few ideas to think over first. At least one thing was decided for certain; she was not going to her clinic tomorrow.

Note from Frost: If it was noticed, I know in one section it reads that Medic!Reader says it was sweet of Wrecker to make soup just for Echo and then another she’s just as confused as Echo. Pretend that it’s up to your interpretation that the confusion was either an act or genuine because Medic!Reader makes the comment while still mostly disassociating so I don’t have to edit it for the 8th time.... This chapter gave me the big feels.
If you would like to be added to the taglist that is currently just specific for Sorry, Wrong Comms!, (I may start a taglist for all Star Wars related fanfiction projects that will be marked accordingly with #frostfics in the near future if there is interest) don’t hesitate to shoot me an ask or a comment loves. 🩷
