like even if it wasn't explicitly the devs' intent (which i personally would prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt, but i will acknowledge we shouldn't assume the authorial intent in one way or another), isn't that boring?? just ignoring literally everything that is in the text rather than engaging in ANY form of conversation with it??? if you're just gonna toss out everything about a character wholesale because "bad writing!!!" instead of think about any implications of their behavior then were you even a fan of the character in the first place????

I've gotta say going from watching the legend of ruby sunday and seeing the doctor going crazy about the idea of possibly having a granddaughter (having not seen the rest of the series and just watching it bc my boyfriend was)

to then going and watching the original 1960s run and seeing a character who literally calls him grandfather (made even more confusing because BBC iplayer doesn't have the first episode and jumps straight to the daleks so I missed all the set up) is quite the experience

au where my girlboss female lead trips back in time and wakes up at age 16 and accidentally gets the interest of her villain fiance because her 10 extra years of life experience made her wayyyy less hostile and wayyy less likely to start a fight with him. it confuses him so much. what's jiang mingxi without constant anger and the desire to punch someone in the face. he doesn't know what to do with this. they have a sparring match for class that DOESN'T devolve into insults and clawing at each other and it throws him into shellshock.

Au where sqq was a popular/famous vr graphic designer specialising in avatars and animations and 3d modelling, and sqh worked on the side/before pidw as a grey hat hacker, and together they take the system apart and add all sorts of mods and features. Cat ears. Sci fi effects. Playing games on the system. Sqq manages to screw with something important and gets access to vr chat style dream realm, where poor mm is extremely surprised to have sections blocked off without an invite.
