Ended up down the rabbit hole of how many Jedi there were before Order 66. According to my research, there were about 10,000 Jedi knights. I don't think that number includes any of the younglings, padawans, or elders (I'm including the masters with the Jedi knight number since ultimately, they're still knights but just with a padawan who has passed the trials). It doesn't include the service corps of the Jedi order either. So, just to be super generous, let's just say there were 40,000 members and affiliates of the Jedi order.
As for the entirety of the galaxy Star Wars is in, there was no clear number for the population but the roughest estimate I could find was somewhere between 96 trillion (96,000,000,000) at the lowest to 400 quadrillion (400,000,000,000,000,000) at the highest.
If we were being super duper generous, the Jedi order made up approximately 4.16666667 × 10e-08% or 0.0000000416666667% of the GFFA population.
That number is just so ridiculously tiny. So to get a clearer understanding of how small that is, let's use Earth's population: 8.05 billion. 0.0000000416666667% of Earth's population is 3.35. The Jedi order would be made up of 3 people (4 if we're rounding up) in our world.

@dreaming-in-seams and her new ✨husbando✨ went to Disney World for the week and they had to leave their custom droid with me. So I set up a Droid Daycare!
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, purple BB has a personality chip of pure, concentrated rage. Tensions have risen.
Tumblr media
Things have further escalated.
Tumblr media
But BB-8 and BD have risen to the challenge.
Tumblr media
Okay no more droid daycare for a while.

wish i knew what to do with this helpless frustration i feel every time i see people vilify the jedi for their way of life when the person doing the vilification doesn't even understand them properly. it's one thing to criticize and dislike them if you have an accurate picture of who they were and what they're trying to do vs. hating them because you straight up don't understand them at all 😭
#personal#this isn't vagueposting i'm just tired of seeing it every time i go in the tags or on youtube or on ao3#literally if you boil the jedi down to the essentials it's just#''these are psychic empath space wizards wandering around the galaxy trying to establish a higher quality of life for everyone''#a bunch of aragorns except anduril is a beaming blade of plasma#or gandalf with the ability to do backflips#the only hard rule they have is ''thou shalt not add misery to the world where you can remove it''#everything else is just interpretations on that theme#''they're cold and unfeeling and they HATED ANAKIN and BAN LOVE''#like WHERE in the WORLD are you getting this information#WHEREEEEE#SHOW ME YOUR SOURCESSSS#and don't say ''they ban attachments'' without understanding what that MEANS#ATTACHMENTS =/= LOVE#ATTACHMENTS ARE CHAINS THAT YOU USE TO DRAG OTHERS DOWN WITH YOU#YOU KNOW THE SAYING IF YOU LOVE SOMETHING YOU WILL LET IT GO? THAT'S IT. THAT'S ALL IT IS.#and where are u getting that they hated anakin do you think he'd be so torn up about betraying them all in ep 3#if he was surrounded by people who hated him for over a decade like mans was IN TEARS#HE LOVED AND WAS LOVED BY THEM IN TURN#IT JUST WASN'T ENOUGH TO SAVE THEM IN THE END BECAUSE#CRUCIALLY#HIS ATTACHMENT TO PADME DRAGGED HER AND THEM AND EVERYONE ELSE DOWN WITH HIM#stop stripping anakin of his agency he made a CHOICE#star wars is ALL ABOUT CHOICE. THE CHOICE TO FALL IN EP 3. AND THE CHOICE TO RISE AGAIN IN EP 6.#like cmon fellas..... fellas cmon........

Naraya Vash is from the grassy plains of Dantooine, where she and her twin sister Notah grew up on a quiet family farm. Naraya had sky-blue skin, while Notah’s was soft pink; an unusual but natural occurrence among Twi’lek siblings. The twins were inseparable, known for their curiosity and wild imaginations. Near their farm stood a crumbling stone structure that they often dared each other to explore, unaware of its true history.
When they were twelve, everything changed. While playing near the ruins, they noticed ships landing and people moving carefully around the site. The girls snuck closer and met a gruff human Jedi Knight named Ket Daf and his small, kindhearted Padawan—a Seaphid girl named Psohi Psongs. Ket explained that the structure was an old Jedi temple, and they were here to begin restoration efforts. After sensing something unusual in the girls, he offered to speak with their parents about their potential Force sensitivity.
Intrigued by the idea that they might be able to learn to have abilities like Psohi, the twins excitedly began the walk back home to speak with their parents. They never made it.
A pack of kath hounds—agitated by the Force disturbance—ambushed them on the trail. Sensing danger, Ket and Psohi rushed to intervene, but the attack had already begun. The kath hounds killed Notah before help could arrive. Notah had pushed Naraya into a gap between two rocks. Naraya’s left leg was torn badly from a kath hound paw that reached after her. Just then the Jedi arrived. Ket slashed that hound saving Naraya, but was then assailed from the side by another hound. He was viciously scarred on his face, side and back in the struggle. Sadly little Psohi lost an arm in the battle before they finally repelled the beasts.
Naraya mourned her sister deeply. As she healed and eventually began training at the restored Dantooine Jedi temple, she carried Notah’s memory with her. Eventually dying her lekku with permanent pink stripes to symbolize their bond.
In Twi’lek culture, family history is recorded through kalikori—ornamental totems passed from parent to child. Naraya’s pink stripes became her living kalikori. She later added subtle tattoos, hidden within the stripes, depicting her and Notah’s favorite childhood memories.
Naraya’s path as a Jedi is one shaped by love, loss, and resilience. Through loss, she found her calling: to become a protector, in memory of the sister who once protected her.

I desperately need the Thrawn stans (specifically novel Thrawn Stans) to remember that Thrawns whole deal is rebuilding the Empire and fighting the New Republic.
#I see so many people saying Thrawn wouldn't attack the New Republic when that's literally his whole deal.#He's the guy who rebuilds the Empire and attacks the Republic.#The famous story he's in that influenced the rest of Star Wars is about him trying to rebuild the Empire and destroy the Republic.#Also Thrawns evil.#I need you to remember that Thrawns an evil imperialist. His justifications for the Empire are the same as the British Empire used in Afric#Also Thrawns a crap choice to protect the Galaxy from a larger threat.#In Legends he would've lost brutally to the Yuuzhan Vong who were defeated by the Jedi and only ever could've been defeated by the Jedi.#Thrawn is playing military sci-fi in a Faerie Tale world and keeps making the shocked Pikachu expression when the Faerie Tale stuff shows u#The only difference between Thrawns Empire and the Emperors is that Thrawn would build fleets instead of Planet Killers.#In new Canon I think the Jedi would grind the Grysk into the ground before they even captured 3 worlds outside the Unknown Regions.#star wars ahsoka#star wars#grand admiral thrawn#thrawn#ahsoka tano#star wars thrawn#Ahsoka series#The Yuuzhan Vong lost because of a mix of internal revolution and being spread thin militarily#Thrawn would have successfully contained the Yuuzhan Vong invasion for a while but ultimately his forces would've become distracted.#Also the YV would've allied with Rebel Cells providing them their technology and weapons.#Thrawns control of the Empire would further collapse because of all the corrupt officials who would be embezzling funds or resources.#Thrawns fleets would fall into disarray and he'd be assassinated by a YV pretending to be a low ranking Stormtrooper or a slave or somethin#The YV wars were won because the Jedi inspired a religious reformation.#YV versus the Imperials would've led to YV victory.

luke does have his own office space on chandrila, and an apartment, both courtesy of the new republic, but he's rarely in either. he might be more often found in his office than his apartment, and whether or not he is in there, it's almost always filled with datapads with requests and incident reports from various planets and systems. between searching the galaxy for information on the jedi and answering requests for the jedi's ( his ) help, however, he spends more time in his ship than either of his dwellings. once he settles on yavin-4 for his academy, he spends more time there and turns the office back over to the senate, but keeps the apartment for when he visits his sister and her family

Actually think he's got ALL the great points. I am LIVING for Sith-centric POVs. The Jedi aren't right and good simply by virtue of being Jedi. I wanna hear what the other side has to say about it.
It's about time we had a sympathetic glance at the Sith. What's gonna happen next? When and what's the shoe that's about to drop?? Will the Sith be JUSTIFIED or will things revert back to ye olde Jedi=Right?
This is what story time is supposed to be about !!
*eats popcorn.*
Tumblr media
He do be making some good points though.
#i hope the show rules in favor of the Sith actually#i want to see the perfect angels be problematic#i want things to be complicated and nuanced#i want right and wrong to be questioned#i want people to see the world from the POV of the 'bad guys' & know that they're people and choices made in the context of their existence#were understandable and right actually#also it's fun watching tumblr Jedi fans try to insist that the Jedi are so so so good and were right actually#and 'don't steal children'#when they sure AF interfered wrongly and unnecessarily against the wishes of an autonomous group not part of the republic#in order to persuade kids to join them#stealing by any other name lol !#'oh the parents don't want this? ok well lemme just put on a horse and pony show to appeal to the kids#. 😎😎😎#'because now it's about kids self-determination when it's more convenient for us. instead of an agreement with all involved.'#like I'm sure most of the kid-taking was something parents also wanted. i don't have any issue with this.#but this SPECIFIC case is clearly a Bad Practice. and i think it's fascinating#the Jedi literally walking around like heavyweights and abusing their power without the legal and moral authority to do so#just because they can and because that POLITICALLY INDEPENDENT GROUP which was OUTSIDE THEIR JURISDICTION was TOO AFRAID#to directly resist#says a LOT about the state of the Galaxy and also how the Jedi treat groups THEY exiled who believe and operate differently.#but not necessarily badly or wrongly#anyway I LOVE THIS A LOT#acolyte#commentary#Jedi

It's truly wild to me how many people out there don't understand that the Star Wars prequels are a tragedy or how tragedies work.
Posts like "these are the Jedi failed movies" truly just make me shake my head. They're actually the "fascism wears a smile until it strikes you down and then it's too late" movies. They're the "the senate became corrupt and clapped in the face of genocide" movies. They're the "make people scared enough of war until they accept authoritarianism" movies. They're the "fear and possessiveness will tear you up on the inside" movies. The Jedi were the heroes of lore, people loved and looked up to them, looked to them for safety, and then too much got put on their shoulders on purpose by Palpatine, and also by a senate that didn't want to act (not you Padme and Bail and Mon, you're perfect). They were drafted and used and scapegoated, which is, you know, a tenet of the vast majority of authoritarian governments (Hitler and Stalin, for instance, might be on different ends of the political spectrum, but they sure both did scapegoat specific groups and commit mass murder, just differently).
When some people say "these movies are about the fall of the Jedi" what they mean is "the Jedi failed" but that's not what "the fall of the Jedi means." It means they were wiped the fuck OUT. Like, Jesus, in Rogue One Tarkin is talking about burning out the final MEMORY of the Jedi by blowing up the holy city in Jedha. Palpatine had to get rid of the Jedi because to get rid of the Jedi was to get rid of the final people standing in his way after he had already worn them out. His intention was not only to kill them, but to alter the galaxy's entire perception of them. To rip away hope. People are always looking for the Jedi to be Bad or nitpick their mistakes (because while other people are allowed to make mistakes, the Jedi never are). Palpatine made himself look like a benevolent grandpa who would keep everyone safe. And that, more than anything, is what gave him SO much power. He stole the narrative.
It's just like. Of course WE know what was going to happen! We know from watching the OT that the PT can only end in tragedy. But the characters don't know that! They don't have all the info! That's how a tragic story structure works. We see it coming and they can't.
Anyway. The Jedi are laser-sword wielding monks with psychic powers who just wanted to do what they could to help. The world would be better if more folks remembered that.
