So, hey, I recently found out that King Candy was added to the game Disney Magic Kingdoms! Not only that, but he actually has an unlockable skin of his Turbo form too!

But what really gets me is that they actually created a plot related explanation for King Candy's return, revealing how he survived his fate at the end of the first movie!!

Basically, it's revealed that King Candy's code wasn't deleted when he died, but laid dormant. When Litwak installed the replacement steering wheel onto the Sugar Rush arcade cabinet (at the end of RBTI), it somehow booted up King Candy's code and restored him!

From there, after King Candy assesses his situation, he attempts to take revenge on Ralph and Vanellope. There's even a plot related reason for him going back to his old Turbo form later on, too! I won't go into all the details, but you can look it up on the Disney Magic Kingdoms wiki >>here.<<

So as I was reading all this, I just kept thinking "should any of this be considered canon??" I mean, maybe not events specific to this game, but the detail of King Candy being dormant in Sugar Rush's code and possibly being revived somehow.

I mean, it would actually make a lot of sense that King Candy didn't really die at the end of the first movie, given that RBTI revealed characters could get around the "dying outside your game" rule by being programmed into a different one. Like, that's LITERALLY what King Candy did! We saw his code box integrated into Sugar Rush!

So don't you tell me that he's not still alive, damn it! (seriously, it just tickles me to think that RBTI's sloppy writing and disregard for continuity indirectly retconned King Candy's demise. XD)

Which brings me to my next point: WHY THE HELL IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS?? lmao

Man, it is SO good to see official 3d models of these little bugaboos again. I don't think there's been any since... what, the PS1/N64 game? And as far as I know, those models were never (publicly) extracted, so no luck there. (If you REALLY want what I have extracted so far, let me know, but I will tell you that what I've got is super messy and disorganized. Still, sharing is caring. If all goes well, I'll see if I can toss these up on Models Resource or Sketchfab.) Actually no, here's a link to what I have right now. Still super messy, but if you just HAVE to have them (I know I'VE been waiting for fricken ever to have some), then why make you wait?

“Turbotastic” and “have some candy” are both four syllables. Coincidence? Probably not.

Anyway, he says it when he uses the Red Shells Sweet Seekers, so I choose to believe it’s a phrase he uses so he doesn’t accidentally say “turbotastic” while he’s decimating the other racers.

But now I think he’d use both of them, even if he respawned, somehow didn’t get cast back into the cola lava again — actually I think they’d probably throw him in a few extra times — and everyone knew he was Turbo. You don’t go fifteen years using a new catchphrase just to drop it when you don’t have to use it anymore, after all.

I got this ask a year ago too BUT YEAH it's such a small detail that I don't think even the writers themselves realized, just that they needed to have King Candy have a catchphrase, too. Which looking back at the movie, he does say 3 times. He had to cover his vocal stim, rip, 😔 He's stronger than me, I would of slipped so fast. Though he could probably just erased everyone's memory of it if he wanted to.

Adding also that even in Magical Kingdoms, when he gets revived/'reinstalled', he doesn't use Turbo-Tastic at all, even after going back into Turbo. He does resort back to candy phrases, which I can only imagine because he spend more time of his life AS King Candy instead of Turbo. It must have stuck more.

Man, really gave himself a whole new personality, went 'off his program' and did his own thing, which honestly, go off king ❤️‍🔥, don't let standards hold you back. Turbo really did become a rebel, we love to see it.
