I really enjoy their dynamic changing across the movies, the pipeline of "I won't miss you when you're gone" to "If I can't rule the world I might as well save it! For the one and only person who ever cared about me" is CRAZY work, 2 me

Good News, everyone! I've taken my gummy and have rented Sonic 3.

So, in the first movie we saw Robotnik and Stone have a... established dynamic. Stone's loyalty and pure devotion to Ivo Robotnik is unmatched. This man would do anything for Ivo, and not being what he needs when he wants, whether intentional or not... seems to be an insult to his very core. (Like the mushroom coffee)

And Robotnik doesn't see Stone as a friend, or even lover, he's a fixture. He's a constant that is and will always be there for him. Like your lung. It can't not be there. (But how often do you stop to appreciate your organs?)

But they're so comfortable with eachother, like in the first movie, their interactions make me believe Stone would absolutely do any sexual favours for Robotnik and probably has. (I still think he was baiting Robotnik with that 'They're real survivors' line.)

And Stone is so happy to do it. There's a need to be Robotnik's everything regardless if Ivo sees Stone... for Stone. Hell, Stone followed the Robotnik Manifesto to wait for Ivo's return.

Now we get to delve more into Ivo's family. I'm super excited and I hope you enjoy my ramblings... 😅

I love how these dialogues can be a good window into the characters and their minds in an interesting way (personally).

"Ditching Soto and his pack was the best decision I ever made, no contest. The stories I could tell about THOSE wastes of fur..." You go king, gossip on those bitches.

"Okay: PARTIAL credit to Soto, that last one did only happen once. Pretty sure that was only for lack of opportunity though."

I know they're simplifying Soto's characterization here but this is an intriguing piece of dialogue.

"Life with Manny, Sid, Ellie and everyone, by contrast? SO much healthier. And not just emotionally, either. For example..."

Aknowledgement on the abuse of Soto's pack and the healing Diego has had since then my beloved.

And that's literally the end of the dialogue, then you just send Diego to "Take it easy" and he just lays down and chills. Literally all missions with him are or "migration protocol" if I had to put a name to it, funny sliding ice scene reenactment, or therapy.

And I love that.

Taking a quick break from work to say that my fav hc is that Rob always used invasion of personal space as an intimidation tactic BUT it never worked on Stone. Overtime he finds himself actually liking that he could stand so close to someone who isn't afraid of him...

..until eventually he starts leaning down (or looking up!) to Stone's level, actually taking the time to explain his thought processes which he'd NEVER do to anyone else. Something about the unflinching way Stone received and matched him told Rob that he was a keeper. ☺️

And as a bonus, Stone is the first one in a long while Rob trusted to enter HIS personal space AND beyond it, because he finds out that Stone could be very unpredictable when he wants to be, but Rob secretly enjoys not knowing what Stone would do in his stead.

And so Rob lets Stone into his space not only because Stone's the only one capable of doing so (in Rob's eyes), but also because he's the only one worthy of it.

They're syco-friends, after all.
