As someone that cares about Movie!Team Sonic like they are my own children-

Notice that the trio were let in by Agent Stone into Robotnik's giant mech crab to ask for his help against Shadow? And that it leads to Eggman having a whole transformation montage before getting into action??

That means that Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were likely still in the room when.... when it happens, because why would they leave the place before Robotnik is ready and roaring to go, bald and all.
