I don't know if any of you gyns care, but in case you do, I'm sharing the free routine I've been doing on top of my modified workout (since my legendary -and sadly not recorded- asphalt-diving injuries) :
youtube
It's in French, but I think it's perfectly doable by just looking at her moves. The main things she insists on anyways are to keep your stomach/abs hard, hips static when moving upper body and back flat. You can also add weights. And if your cervicals/neck hurt, you can support it with your hands as long as you engage your abs and not neck while raising your upper body for the floor workout part.
It's just standing for most part, so it keeps my knees, arm and ankle safe. It's beginner level. If it's too intense, you can pause. There are more intense free workouts on this YT channel with different coaches if you wanna check, it's just that this one hasn't wrecked my injuries afterwards yet and helps me to gain/maintain muscles while still recovering.
And if you do this and/or other routines multiple days a week and have the proper food intake, you should definitely gain muscles. I shit you not, I'm on this YT channel in the first place because I saw an elderly woman like, a month ago, who had a literal six packs and she told me was just doing 3 videos like that per week for 2y when I asked her about this sorcery. Eldery women have some Lore™ to share!

I don't think people realize how limited AI is, at least for now. It's a bit cringy. They keep tagging that explanation bot on twitter as if it's actually going to help😭. Unless you have actual reading comprehension issues and need a fucking 280 characters long tweet rephrased, it won't

Hybrid Calisthenics on youtube is such a good fitness resource. I watched his "You CAN do push ups, my friend!" video recently and I feel like I'm making progress with my wall push ups. They're getting easier and I feel like I might be able to do push ups in the nearby future! Maybe in a couple months.. Idk, I've never felt so hopeful (confident even, maybe?) about this kind of thing before!

All good advice, just wanted to add a movement resource I’ve found lately that has been REALLY helpful with getting my highly fatigued disabled ass moving.
Justin Augustin on TikTok. https://www.tiktok.com/@justin_agustin?_t=8mWP0bn9nVm&_r=1
He does all kinds of work out videos, but the ones I’m interested in are specifically the ones he made for chair exercises (not just stretches) and exercises you can do while sitting in bed and while laying down in bed. That last was a GAME CHANGER because some days I literally cannot get out of bed or only for extremely short times to pee and let the dog pee. But I’m still able to do some movements in bed. And they really help make me feel better! He also has done some for people with various pain I think too. And all of them are presented in a cheerful nonjudgmental manner. He looks like a gym bro but doesn’t act like he expects everyone to get on his level, and I appreciate that.
Anyway. Yea. Great resource.
A lot of younger people have no idea what aging actually looks and feels like, and the reasons behind it. That ignorance is so dangerous. If you don’t want to “be old,” you aren’t talking about a number of years. I have patients in their late 80s who could still handily beat me in a race—one couple still runs marathons together, in their late 80s—and I lost someone who was in her early 60s to COPD last year. What you want is not youth, it is health.
If you want to still be able to enjoy doing things in your 60s and 70s and 80s and even 90s, what you want to do, right now, is quit smoking, get some activity on a regular basis (a couple of walks a week is WAY better for you than nothing; increasing from 1 hour a day of cardio to 1.5 will buy you very little), and eat some plants. That’s it. No magic to it. No secret weird tricks. Don’t poison yourself, move around so your body doesn’t forget how, and eat plants.
If you have trouble moving around now because of mobility limitations, bad news: you still need to move around, not because it’s immoral not to, but because that’s still the best advice we have. I highly recommend looking up the Sit and Be Fit series; it is freely available and has exercises that can be done in a chair, which are suitable for people with limited mobility or poor balance. POTS sufferers, I’m looking at you.
If you have trouble eating plants because of dietary issues (they cause gas, etc.) or just because they’re bitter (super taster with texture issues here!), bad news. You still want to find a way to get some plants into your body on a regular basis. I know. It sucks. The only way I can do it is restaurants—they can make salads taste like food. I can also tolerate some bagged salads. On bad weeks, the OCD with contamination focus gets so bad I just can’t. However, canned beans always seem “safe,” and they taste a bit like candy, so they’re a good fallback.
If you smoke and you have tried quitting a million times and you’re just not ready to, bad news. You still need to quit. Your body needs you to try and keep trying. Your brain needs it, too. Damaging small blood vessels racks up cumulative damage over time that your body can start trying to reverse as soon as you quit. I know it’s insanely, absurdly addictive. You still need to.
You cannot rules lawyer your way past your body’s basic needs. It needs food, sleep, activity, and the absence of poison. Those are both small things and big asks. You cannot sustain a routine based on punishment, so don’t punish your body. Find ways to include these things that are enjoyable and rewarding instead. Experiment. There is no reason not to experiment—you don’t have to know instantly what’s going to work for you and what won’t, you just need to be willing to try things and make changes when things aren’t working for you.
You will still age. Your body will stop making collagen and elastin. Tissues you can see and tissues you can’t see will both sag. Cushioning tissues under your skin will get thinner. You’ll bruise more easily. Skin will tear more easily. Accumulated sun damage will start to show more and more. Joints will begin to show arthritis. Tendons and ligaments will get weaker and get injured more easily, as will muscles. Bones will lose mass and get easier to break. You’ll get tired more easily.
But you know what makes the difference between being dead, or as good as, in your 60s vs your 90s? Activity, plants, and quitting smoking. And don’t do meth. Saw a 58-year-old guy this week who is going to have a heart attack if he doesn’t quit whatever stimulant he’s on. I pretended to believe it was just the cigarettes, and maybe it is, but meth and cocaine will kill you quicker. Stop poisoning yourself.
Baby steps; take it one step at a time; you don’t need to have everything figured out right now. But you do need to be working on figuring things out.

an angels guide: my perfect winter evening routine ⋆。˚୨୧˚。⋆
hi angels! i cant believe it’s almost christmas… im feeling so angelic and wintery! im very excited and i thought a good post would be a winter evening routine (especially as a few of you so kindly asked me for one)! my goals with my winter evening routine are primarily to be productive but also to get cozy and properly rest and recover for the next day. remember this is an ideal evening routine and not something ill achieve every evening! enjoy angels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
arrive home by 4:30 - 5:00.
spend a maximum of half an hour changing, putting clothes in the laundry, unpacking bag and getting books and supplies ready for work later. prep anything needed for cooking later.
make a cup of tea, warm matcha or hot chocolate. have a snack if needed!
refill bottle of water.
settle down and start work, focusing on most urgent work and doing what i can to make future tasks easier.
check what i need school wise for next day, pack bag and organise notes and resources needed. if possible read up on material for upcoming lesson to begin getting a grasp on the knowledge needed.
when finished with work do an evening workout for 30 minutes to an hour (on days when i have not worked out in the morning).
start cooking dinner and eat.
tidy up kitchen and prepare anything needed for lunches/breakfast the next day.
make a green tea to aid digestion!
prepare for a shower or bath.
dry brush prior to washing.
when in water exfoliate if shaving, i use either a dove sugar scrub, a lush one or a body shop one (normally in sweet, fruity or sugary scents).
regardless of whether i have exfoliated or not i then use a plain, unscented bar of soap to cleanse my body. i use a wash cloth to really cleanse my body and ensure all soap traces are removed.
if its a shaving day i massage shaving gel on the places im shaving, applying a light layer of baby oil to soften the skin and hair in particularly sensitive areas.
use a scented body wash and wash and clean everywhere thoroughly.
towel dry gently and apply a plain body lotion (the thicker the better during winter). when it has sunk in apply a body oil and scented lotion other the top.
put on my fave cozy pjs.
watch something or give myself some relaxing downtime. my favourites at the moment are anything christmassy (i love festive episodes from my fave shows and christmas films!), gilmore girls and some really interesting documentaries.
fill up bottle with water.
use mouthwash, clean teeth and floss.
pm skincare.
nightly yoga stretch.
get into bed and do a few minutes of journaling (or longer sometimes inspiration strikes late!).
read in bed until i am ready to rest, then go to sleep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank you for reading angels! i tried to include timings where possible but my schedule can vary massively - this is an example of a day where i had no activities etc. this isnt what every evening looks like for me, i try to find what works for me and be adjustable with a few daily non negotiables. happy christmas countdown to all who celebrate! feel free to tell me your evening routines or give me and others any tips - i love hearing from all of you angels.
love, m.

I guess this is a me problem but gosh it rubs me the wrong way when I’m looking for transition related resources and I have to read through slogs of people labeling fairly neutral (and occasionally somewhat feminine) things as being extremely feminine or womanly or whatever. Like I really do get that dsyphoria is hard but man I wish people would be more normal on posts that people are using to get help
