My ocs – I can never explain them as well as I'd like. My words betray my thoughts. I describe Erendriel as soft, gentle and kind. But that does not give way for the skulls I imagine him holding; the mocking laughter I imagine comes out of his mouth as he overpowers yet another stuck-up ruler.

Writing anything about Deulith in general is, too, most difficult. She is an oc who I pour a lot of my feelings into. I've never been great at describing myself. As a result, I'm not too great at describing her either.

A knight, I imagine her as. I feel her silver design reflects that. At least I hope so.

It's frustrating to see so many people be able to seemingly easily weave together stories with their characters. Though, it was more frustrating when people were actively urging me to make something. A comic. I'm free of that tear inducing frustration at least.

i can't with all these "the show is highlighting tommy's jealousy, they're planting seeds that it will cause problems" takes like bffr. he mentioned being envious over the 118's dynamic twice, sure, but in what world (literally how?) would that cause a relationship problem? do yall expect him to be in cahoots with gerrard behind their back and murder buck to take over his life or something?? like even with the hyperbole aside, i genuinely cannot see how they can turn this into relationship drama without going against everything they showed us with tommy so far

Because we're sure spending a lot of energy on it and I'm not sure what the purpose of this is when it's obvious that a) all kinds of trans people are pretty damn oppressed and b) transphobia definitely manifests in different ways towards different groups (as well as, at the same time, manifesting in similar ways towards different groups), and it's clearly useful to be able to talk about that, and therefore unhelpful for the vocabulary people might use for it to be rendered unusable by becoming a shibboleth for talking about Who Has It Worse

hey what are your thoughts on tko? personally i absolutely love the boy and think his story couldve been handled INFINITELY better. he deserves a hug so bad

Honestly the first time I watched the show I didn't like tko. Not only I didn't find him interesting, I also thought he was kinda unlikeable so I would often skip his scenes.

But after rewatching okko I realised I never actually paid attention to his character. I actually really related to him!! Tko being so emotional and misunderstood by his surrounding makes him such an interesting character to me. I love okko but I really wish the show had more serious moments so we could focus more on his feelings and development.

Flawed characters with anger-issues are so compelling to me, and i feel like Tko is such an important part of the show (bc of his connection to the main character) that it’s a shame he didn't have more focus.

He's not a real villain or even a bad person, he's just a kid with a lot of emotions who's kinda cocky and he deserved better than to be caged up :(((

Okay, accent/pronunciation post.

In Hereward the Wake, Tim pronounces “duty” with a /j/ (yod) which creates a pronunciation something like /ˈdjuː.ti/ in the IPA or “dyoo-tee” in English phonetic spelling. From what I can tell, this is one of two common pronunciations in English accents, the other being /ˈdʒuː.ti/ in the IPA or “djoo-tee” in English phonetic spelling. This second pronunciation features coalescence of the d and yod to create a dj sound. This can be contrasted by Rachel’s pronunciation of “duty” in Alice, which features yod dropping, and can be written as /ˈduː.ti/ in the IPA or “doo-tee” in English phonetic spelling. Although Tim is doing a very odd accent in Hereward, it doesn’t really matter in this case. In Riddle of the Sphinx he pronounces “introduced” with a coalescence of the d and yod (/ˌɪn. trə ˈdʒuːst/ or “in-truh-djoost”) and regardless of whether it is coalesced or not, as long as it’s not *dropped* it works for our purposes.

Okay, now we get into why this is funny to me. The yod-close back rounded vowel pair (/ju/ or “yoo”) comes to English from French. The French close front rounded vowel sound (/y/, I have no idea how I’d write this in English phonetic spelling, but make the inside of your mouth like you’re gonna say “ee” and your lips like your gonna say “oo” and that’s how you make it) came into English and was separated into /i/ and /u/ (or “ee” and “oo”) but then the /i/ was replaced with yod. This was not only applied to words that came from French, but also some pre-existing English words as well (and is now applied to foreign words once they’ve been in English long enough, like “Cuba”).

Now, when did the yod-close back rounded vowel pair enter English? Well, when was English heavily influenced by French? That’s right, when the Normans took over. And who fought the Normans? Hereward!

This lead me to the idea of an Anglish translation of Hereward the Wake. Has anyone done that yet?

Hello fandom. I understand that very few of you will care about my personal opinion, and that's fine, but I find it important enough to how I run my blog to share anyway.

In the future, all of my posts will simply be avoiding any mention of Wilbur wherever possible. His character is a major part of Tallulah's story, but I will be keeping him away from my blog as much as I can.

Typically, I would go with a "death of the author" approach and keep mentions of the character and cc more separate. However, the cc's alleged quest for money and fame changes that entirely. I will not be contributing to that. That's just my personal choice, so there should be no shame to anyone who chooses to separate the two, obviously.

I watched Shubble's video and I saw his response. In my opinion, it was terrible. The way he centralized his own "growth," minimized the pain he caused, and left the actual apology on the second page is revealing. His statement reminds me of some of the past emotional abuse I've experienced, so his content will no longer be welcome on my blog. I believe in the merit of archiving, so I will not be deleting any past posts, but he will no longer have any place in my death family related tags.
