Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony

soap's whole deal being sniper and demolitions gets me going bc on the surface they sound so different but when you get into it, you realise it's bc soap's smart

sniping is all math; calculating distances and wind interference and bullet drop. something i think people overlook is he was listed as a sniper first so it can be implied that he's better at it than demolitions. he does more sniping in both campaigns than demolitions work; in capture or kill, ghost specifically calls on him to take down the aq snipers

and demolitions is math with a hit of chemistry; knowing what mixes with what, knowing how much to use, recognising environmental factors and adjusting accordingly. it's not just about the boom; so much work goes into contained/ planned explosions. especially when having enough power for a breacher charge and not bringing down the whole building is the difference between mission success and failure

the chemical bombs he makes in alone can't just be any old cleaners, they have to have the correct reaction to each other; he just knew off the top of his head what would mix with what to create what reaction. he would also potentially have to recognise them by sight/smell bc they would’ve been written in spanish

soap would also have to know architecture; recognising structural integrity and weak points so he knows exactly where to plant a charge to bring it down and how it'll come down

he has an incredible soldier's mind people just forget that bc he's sociable which itself is a skill

we know he tends to buck against orders he doesn't agree with like when he pushes back against ghost in capture or kill and shepherd when he tells them to release hassan

he gets closer to people and sees if he can trust them and that's when he follows them without question. really think about how he talks to alejandro and rudy; he asks about their home and alejandro's family and rudy's relationship with him. those aren't questions you ask a stranger after a few hours of knowing them. that's not even touching on his relationship with ghost

he also deliberately brings people of higher ranks down to his level; talking informally with ghost and giving him a shoulder punch, addressing alejandro (a colonel!!) by his first name and rudy by his nickname despite literally just meeting them. he personalises all of them and it’s in direct opposition to the reason most characters do that; it’s not due to insubordination or lack of respect, the more he respects and trusts someone, the more casual he is with them

he digs into people; he wants to know what makes them tick and that determines if he can one, trust them and two, follow their orders. once he decides that, he's the ultimate soldier; he bleeds loyalty which makes him vicious when that loyalty is taken for granted

he isn't naive or bubbly or insecure; he's an incredibly smart and aware soldier. he's aggressive and bloodthirsty and loyal and intuitive and i love him so much

It's so interesting how submissive House is to Wilson. In basically every scene where Wilson gives his 2 cents about a case, House without fail (for the most part) follows his opinion. Wilson gives him unsolicited advice and half the time he listens without saying anything, and the other half he argues but ends up listening to him anyway. House starts psychoanalysing Wilson and Wilson does it right back to him and House shuts the fuck up or gives a one line quip back at him (to have the last line) but knows deep down Wilson is right.

For a man of House's stature and how he interacts with Literally Everyone Else, the writers really hammer it into your soul that House only really listens to Wilson and no one else

hi hello i decided that my courier will now own a horse! i think her name will be Perch because its a fish and in polish its okoń and it means "o! horse!!" and i think its just really fucking funny

the horse is a sleipnir, they are created by @owligator, truly beautiful creatures

roughly written backstory under the cut

Vels found the horse as a young foal when he was still a raider, who escaped ncr farms so she was already cropped. He fed it etc disney princess stuff and ended up doing a lot of raiding on this horse, they closed a quick, close bond, so the horse followed him to the followers when vels decided he no longer could be a raider. She was kind of a menace but was actually well liked by the followers, usually just hanging around, being a pest, and ocasionally when needed worked to aid the followers. When Vels took the job as a courier he was quite good at it due to the better transport, and that's why he was hired by mr House. Unfortunately when he was doing that delivery he was caught because Perch was shot, he fell of her and lost conciousness. Perch was shot fatally but managed to escape some distance untill she collaped into nearby toxic waste, which acutally turned her into a glowing ghoul horse. That turned her partially feral then but because of the connection, and she still through the fog recognized Vels as herd (family?), so she went to find him and almost bit off his fingers. Because still she feral, she no longer is his full time steed, more like a stray dog that always hangs around, and she still lets herself be ridden but its more likely she will keep a distance from settlements and larger groups (and eat any meat she stumbles upon, attack and be hostile towards most living things)

Due to choking on radioactive goo before death she now leaks it, out of mouth, nose and through her ribs, it seems almost neverending, they are also accumulated in her tissue, the eyes, mouth is all glowing, in some places even glowing though her skin. She is highly radioactive, but as long as you carry tons of rad-X and radaway you SHOULD be safe enaugh

One of my mutuals opinions is the "bro code" thing, that Curly is one of those guys who wouldn't care about the victim because the perpetrator is his friend and I'm really banging my head on the wall like that other anon. I've only played through the game once but Curly's behaviour/reactions etc read completely different from the "bro code" thing and I have to wonder if my mutual and I even played the same game.. like the constant digs at him from Jimmy, his body language in his face reveal and so on like you mentioned in your post. While this game is a little different obviously, it kind of reminded of a point in Alice Madness Returns that makes it very clear that Alice's pain blinded her to the abuse of the other children and her failure to act earlier because of it. Curly is guilty of a similar inaction but it doesn't change the fact he was a victim of Jimmy too. I don't think I can look at it any other way because both of these games have really stuck with me.

I genuinely think it really is the idea that people want a simple easy to blame problem and the idea that the only relatable victims of abuse are those that "surpass" it or do a lot to help others. When it comes to victims, especially those that don't fit the typical demographics, who either accidently perpetuate it, enable it or aren't ideal in some way shape or form, people jump to ignore what they went through as it's easier than dealing with those conflicting sentiments.

The bro-code conversation in Mouthwashing stems from a concept I generally dislike that there had to be something about Curly that made him meet or keep being friends with someone like Jimmy. I think people genuinely underestimate how many like decent and good people just know an asshole or are friends with someone who is really bad outside of their view/established dynamics. The game makes it clear none of the inaction against Jimmy is because of a lack of care, it is a lack of understanding from the privaleged postions they have as men to not have to worry about what Anya does/went through and the type of extremes men like Jimmy will go through to cover it up. They are all too preoccupied in their own strifes.

Another thing I see being oversaturated the idea that you have to be a freak, misanthrope or have a disorder to do the thing Jimmy does. The game is an escalation, it's a spiral that I don't see people comment on that Jimmy was not likely having the mood swings and episodes of rage/frustration we were seeing in the game. This is after they all start experiencing the worst moments in their lives that he got THAT openly bad. Of course, this is just my interpretation but much like in real life, people that go to extremes like that usually live mundane lives. It's a pressure cooker affect to where the stress made them pop. It's self inflicted but still the case.

I really think people need to be more willing to acknowledge that not everything needs to be an extreme or in black and white or easy to understand. It doesn't need to be happy or have an answer or solution, especially in the cases where the abused sadly helps perpetuate what they experience. It's not he should've known better from experience or shouldn't he have known what could've happened because victims tend to not like to think in matters of the worst. Not to mention, especially in cases of abuse where it feels so personally directed that you don't expect to happen to someone else.

What's funnier is there is a 3rd au I barely talk about because it was when my Zelda hyper fixation was waning a bit, which links up with Branching Timelines called Fractured Timelines and THAT Sky is the same Sky as Branching Timelines SORT OF

It's complicated but the fracturing aspect does play a part in how that's the case. Idk it FT will ever see the light of day past the designs I made BUT we'll never know

Howdy! The name's Leif. Welcome to the little master post for what I'll be sharing for the UtY Anniversary!

First off: What I'm doing. Well, it's really simple. The mod I've been making for the past half a year. What's its name? It… doesn't actually have on yet lol. Suggestions would be appreciated, the only idea I have is along the lines of "Monstrous Yellow" Anyways, what are the changes? Well time for the mod overview!

Overview: 5 humans have travelled to Mt. Ebott and gone missing, and now a sixth is on their way. However, unlike the humans before them, they… do not make it past the first room of the Ruins. Luckily (or unluckily depending on your actions), a monster by the name of Clover came by shortly after the human kicked the bucket and absorbed their SOUL! So now, you play as Clover as you… basically do the plot of UtY but as a monster now. That's it. Credit to @howolonomy for this silly little goober who has invaded my mind and will likely never leave. You have cursed me, friend. I do not mind this curse.

Mechanics: Pretty much the same as vanilla. You can FIGHT, ACT, use ITEMs, use MERCY, use MAGIC-wait, what? That's right, as a monster you can use magic (available in the ACT menu) depending on what soul you're using (more on that later)! Over the course of your journey you'll learn many new spells, some offensive and some defensive depending on how you cleared the area boss (Steamworks not included for this ending difference). You will start with one (technically two) spell in your repertoire, but quickly learn more. Another new mechanic is the SOUL SYSTEM, in which you can swap between human and monster to change a few things up. But if you can't use magic as a human, what's stopping you from just using the monster soul the whole time? Well, we're playing by Deltarune logic here: Only humans can ACT (though I may have one exception for… reasons), meaning you'll honestly be using the human soul most of the time. Don't worry though, swapping which soul you're using doesn't count as an action and go into the monster attacking phase. So swap as much as you want, there is literally no downside to it.

The human: As this is in the world of Undertale, a human soul is pretty important. So making Clover a monster requires some human to fill the void. And that's where this one comes in! What's their name? You don't get to know! They do have one, but the closest you'll get is the first letter. (If you are one of my few friends who knows their name, do not tell. For the bit.) (Wait, I can be a pronouns lawyer since this is technically my own character. The human uses they/them and they/them ONLY, no he's, no she's, none of that please. If you do not respect this, I will blow you up with my mind. One million billion times. I've already had someone use he/him for them. Do not be like that person.) If you're curious about their design, here it is:

This design was made by @hollowgears, I was perfectly fine with keeping them like vanilla Clover but just look at them. Adorable. This little fucker can and will violate the Geneva Conventions if given the chance. Love that for them. And if you want, here's the sprite.

All colors (except for the mask thing for Genocide, the outline, and the vest) were taken from the original drawing to keep it accurate. Ignore the patch on the vest in the first one, I was given a sketch and first and assumed colors and other choices. It shouldn't be there in the final product... I think. I gotta double check

Other changes: A few silly little gags due to the existence of another character to do narration, an entire new area accessable in a route it normally isn't, and an entirely new ending for Pacifist!

The actual showcase: I'll be showing off a new thing each day via prerecorded videos (obviously), and they will all be linked here. Ruins Snowdin Dunes Steamworks Neutral Genocide Hotland/New Home In addition to the videos, I'll also be answering the main prompt for the day there as well as giving a fun fact for the area if I have one (I will, in fact, have one for each day).

Questions: If you have any questions, then be warned that some stuff won't be answered. I'll answer clarifying questions like "Why did x say y?" or "How did x know y?" or "What happened during x?" as well as any Behind The Scenes stuff you may want to know and a few other stuff like how I personally view a few cutscenes (as in, how I imagine them going in-universe) or things about the human minus their name, of course (Please ask about them, I wanna talk about them. You can use whatever name for them you want, just make shit up. Only names off the table are Ut(Y)Dr Characters because that might get confusing). But other than that, keep it to yourselves and have theories. I wanna see how crazy they can be. I may also allow questions to the characters (I feel mostly Clover or the human will be asked to, but the others are up) if I'm feeling up to it. It'll be a roll of the die on if I answer it or not tbh. Just be sure to provide context on the route you want just so I can answer properly, I will be assuming New Pacifist if no context is given.

This was not planned. I did not think I would actually write anything for RGBFverse and idk if I'll ever do something like this again, but something said in the demon core was driving me Insane (/pos) and I needed to get it out. And the only way to properly get it out was writing, so enjoy. :)

A gentle, yet heavy, weight wrapped around a smaller body, holding the other. Holding him. It made the smaller feel soft; warmed his heart– though he still wouldn’t admit that.

Beef didn’t notice how he shook, lightly but still noticeable, more focused on his relief that Yourself was there at all. God, he was so happy the other was there. Had he a more sober mind, he probably would have realized YS brought him to his couch because he thought something was wrong; that it was an attempt to comfort him.

Maybe he was right, that something was wrong. His nightmare (Had it been a nightmare? Even now, it felt so real…) still fresh in his mind. But that wasn't why he came here. He wasn’t really looking for comfort– though still soaked up the attention regardless.

In truth, his worries had been dissuaded when his text was responded to. He didn't need to have come here; didn't need this hug. Sure, he was shaking, but he had been wound up by a bad dream while high. It was inevitable he’d take a bit longer to fully calm down.

What he really wanted was to just be there with YS. To appreciate his presence after being presented with a reality without it. He wanted Yourself to know he appreciated him, even if it required him being vulnerable; soft. He wasn't the one receiving a hug, at least in his mind– he was giving it.

A song wormed its way into Beef’s inebriated mind. Something he had only found recently. And really, it was a miracle he had found it at all. It was something on the slower side, something Beef didn't tend to seek out often, but it had slid itself into his recommendations the other night and the title piqued his interest. Something about ghosts, he vaguely remembered.

Not his usual style, but it captivated him.

Captivated him, and reminded him of someone– someone he clung to right now. Slow, and maybe a bit eerie, but still upbeat. Hopeful. He'd have to play it for him sometime, though he didn't want to break up their embrace to share it right now.

Without thinking, he started to hum its melody out loud. It took him a few moments to even realize what he was doing, that the sound was actually coming from him. He just assumed he was imagining it vividly again. While he'd normally be embarrassed doing something like that– he was getting more comfortable, but not yet that comfortable –he was still high enough to not really care.

It seemed the other party didn't mind, either; Beef feeling Yourself droop on top of him.

Just as he hadn't intended on humming, he wasn't meaning to make YS doze off– but that didn't mean it wasn't a good thing. They were all at least somewhat aware by now that he hardly got sleep, so him resting around any of them was a net positive.

Besides, his dozing meant Beef could keep hugging him without worrying about it getting awkward. Maybe he was a bit greedy for wanting so much time with him out of nowhere, but fuck it. YS’s consequence for pulling him into his family of selves. Should have thought about that before reaching out to other selves who had the capacity to be clingy little shits.

Beef hummed the tune more consciously now that he was aware it was relaxing Yourself; nuzzling in further himself as he did.

Slowly, YS drifted more and more, leaning further onto Beef in the process; which the smaller didn't mind at all. Maybe he couldn't quite relate to Yourself’s craving for warmth, but he could relate to how pressure soothed him. Especially the pressure of a loved one. Maybe he was still scared of admitting it, but that’s what YS was.

He really just wanted to sit there with appreciative thoughts, starting to drift off himself as both the embrace and the weed still in his system lulled him.

Unfortunately, his ADHD wasn’t going to let things be that easy– his mind wandering almost immediately. The more he thought about YS, of how much he appreciated the other being in his life, the more he was brought back to his dream.

A reality without YS. Not just without him, but one where he was dead.

In his dream, he had intended to go see YS– for what reason, he could no longer recall (though that implied he usually had a reason to visit) –but… something went wrong. The mirror-walking must have messed up, because everything felt off. It was YS’s apartment, but nothing looked right. And there was someone there, but it wasn’t YS, and then… they told him. It freaked him out so much, the next thing he remembered was waking up on his couch. Clearly a nightmare, but… it had felt so real, he-

He was glad it was just a dream. The knowledge of YS’s plan was still fresh in his mind, so his subconscious must've just warped it into a dream. That’s how that kind of thing usually happened. He was bothered by how clear everything remained in his mind, even while intoxicated, but it would fade.

That's just how bad dreams were, right? vivid for a little bit after, before being shaken off.

In his moment of derailment, Beef had stopped humming– though the limp body around him didn't seem to notice. That was good, that he had managed to drift off. He deserved rest.

The way his own eyes started to droop told him he wasn't far from it himself, but he wasn't paying much attention to himself. Not only was it hard for him to pay attention to that kind of thing while high, a ghostly glow drew his eyes.

Wings. Or at least, the ghost of them. He had seen them before, though he had ignored the sight back then. Forced it out, really, as he felt guilty for seeing them.

Right now though… he stared. Took note of how they seemed to wrap around him, like one pair of arms wasn't enough to hold him. Like he needed to be shielded in the other's grasp.

It was weird, how they were gone yet still remained in some form– outside of the scarred bumps on his back. Weirder probably for the one who lost them.

Beef wondered if Yourself was aware his wings still appeared, though he had doubts. Both times he had seen them now, YS hadn't been fully conscious– first lost in a trauma response, and now lost in peaceful sleep. It seemed they were something that showed when out of his control. How many others had seen them?

He briefly thought about asking, but even while high he could tell that probably wasn't a good idea. Beef had done enough prodding already. No, his curiosity could take a backseat and instead he'd just enjoy it as a quirk to the other. The way their presence now implied YS’s care for him (that still felt strange, and not because they were the same person), so it couldn't be a bad sign.

Eyes finally feeling too heavy, Beef shifted to bury his face in YS’s chest. A nap wouldn’t hurt.

Part of him worried about having another bad dream, but other thoughts drowned that out as his breathing slowed. He'd be fine, because his big brother was there, in his arms (he didn't think about how it was him being wrapped around). If the dream repeated, he would wake and see he was fine.

Hopefully he would be sober by the time he woke up too. Fuck, he was not going to test his limits like that again.
