Unsorted WOF thoughts part 160:

A list of reasons why The Dangerous Gift is probably my favorite book in the mainline series and definitely my favorite book in arc 3:

We finally get to check up on Pyrrhia and see the aftermath of arc 2.

The reveal that Tundra was really just a repressed weirdo, even by IceWing standards.

Glacier's death wasn't meaningless or for shock value.

Snowfall's PTSD isn't ignored.

Snowfall gets to be dramatic as hell in ways that are as hilarious as they are sad.

Snowfall and Lynx spend literally like 80% of the book by each others' sides.

The reveal that Winter wasn't actually banished by Snowfall, and Snowfall subsequently calling him a drama queen (she's one to talk.).

The reveal that Crystal wasn't plotting anything, and was literally just hanging out in Sanctuary. (IceWing royalty just LOVES to assume the worst in their family.)

More Qinter.

It introduces Wren.

Snowfall becomes the most informed character in the series, making her pov worth reading through.

We finally get an explanation and justification for the disappearance of animus magic in a way that makes sense.

Mink.

"It was inside you all along." Played completely straight finally. I'm tired of novels that hate tropes.

The book ends with Snowfall literally smashing racism and classism to pieces with her fists.

RANT TIME:

Celsius is a female 6 y/o IceWing dragonet, and Gypsum is her 8 y/o abusive brother. (If u ain't a WoF fan, that's like 16 and 19 in human years) They were raised by their temperamental, physically violent grandfather, Whitecap, until their much more compassionate mother, Verglas, got out of prison last year and took custody. While Celsius became jumpy, obedient, and quiet due 2 their grandfather's abuse, Gypsum took after him and ended up almost as bad 2 stay on Whitecap's good side.

Gypsum forces Celsius 2 act as superior and mean as him in public, but she mostly just stands beside him nodding along with her best glare. Gypsum believes she's 2 soft. Half of him thinks he's making her stronger, the other half knows he's just taking out his anger on her and wishes he had the self control 2 stop himself. He doesn't think she'll ever be brave enough 2 find a way 2 escape, and thinks she'll always unconditionally love him, so he takes her 4 granted.

Celsius keeps her floof over one side of her face cuz it makes her feel a bit safer.

Verglas made them go 2 JMA. Gypsum is in the Opal Winglet, and Celsius is in the Amethyst Winglet.

Ik Celsius' name makes no sense, I want like 10 when I named her lol. Looking 4 something that sounds similar 2 name her.
