Since January 2021, all new cars and small vans that can run on liquid fuels have to be equipped with approved on-board fuel consumption monitoring (OBFCM) devices before they can be placed on the EU market. These devices record the vehicles’ fuel or energy consumption and the total distance driven.

The first data from a sample of 600 000 cars indicates that the real-world fuel consumption and CO2 emissions from diesel and petrol vehicles on the road are around 20% higher than indicated by the official values from the standardised WLTP type-approval test used for regulatory purposes. This discrepancy is in line with what the Commission had anticipated. For plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, the real-world CO2 emissions were on average 3.5 times higher than the laboratory values, which confirms that these vehicles are currently not realising their potential, largely because they are not being charged and driven fully electrically as frequently as assumed.

man that sucks. I would have assumed that especially in Europe PHEV would be really popular to charge at home since fuel costs are so high but if you're just using it as a conventional hybrid it's even worse because you're lugging around a bigger battery with a smaller engine. I wonder how much of that is poor understanding of how PHEV works and how much is difficulty accessing charging infrastructure. I guess if you're able to run on petrol you might just not change your normal habits as easily as with pure electrics.

The WLTP value being off by 20% for pure IC cars isn't that unusual, everyone knows that spec sheet fuel consumption is optimistic.

Created by Mercedes‑Benz most specialised customization and craftmanship team in the manufaktur in Sindelfingen, the vehicle exterior features the unique two-tone colour combination created for Project MAYBACH. While the upper part of the vehicle is lacquered in a glossy obsidian black, the lower part, side flanks and special forged rims are painted in a sand hue.

The highest levels of craftsmanship continue into the vehicle's interior with an identical two-tone colour scheme. The four-seat configuration, steering wheel, doors, lower dashboard and ceiling are lined in black and sand coloured nappa leather, complete with sand coloured décor trims and strips. The highpile floormats are black with a sand coloured leather border and embroidered Mercedes‑Maybach logo. To enhance its monolithic appearance, the window frames are painted, and a special Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo is inscribed on the piano black middle of the centre-console, rear cushions, head restraints and door sill panel.

All customers will be given a special custom-made wooden box covered in sand coloured nappa leather emblazoned with the Mercedes‑Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo. The gift box contains a 1/18 scale replica of the limited-edition car, the two car keys and a carabiner hook. In addition, a special car cover featuring the Mercedes‑Maybach and Virgil Abloh logo will be gifted to customers.

Laffite Atrax

The Atrax is a mashup of hypercar and SUV styling elements. A pure off-road suspension is standard equipment, while the Atrax Stradale is tuned more for on-road use. Laffite quotes 1,151 hp and 1,844 lb-ft of torque, which the startup claims will get the 4,850-pound Atrax from 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds and on to a 149-mph top speed.

According to the Laffite, the Atrax will also have a "2+1" seating arrangement, 273 miles of range (likely as measured on the more lenient European WLTP testing cycle), and 350-kw DC fast-charging capability that will enable a 10-80% charge in 22 minutes.

The low aerodynamic drag coefficient (0.263) reduces energy consumption and increases driving distance. For example, the EV3 with a WLTP-approved range of 605 km (the version with an 81.4 kWh battery) can cover as much as 773 km after a full charge in city driving only.

P.S. The KIA EV3 is significantly better suited for everyday practical traffic than the Tesla Model 3...!
