šŸ—£ļø This is for all new internet connected cars
Tumblr media
A new study has found that your car likely knows more about you than your mom. That is disconcerting, but whatā€™s even more so is what is being done with your information. Itā€™s all about the Benjamins. Our private information is being collected and sold.
The Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit that studies internet and privacy issues, studied 25 car manufacturers. And it found every manufacturer sold in America poses a greater risk to your privacy than any device, app or social media platform.
Our cars are rolling computers, many of which are connected to the internet collecting information about how you drive and where. New cars also have microphones and sensors that give you safety features like automatic braking and drowsy driver detection. Those systems are also providing information. Got GPS or satellite radio? Then your car likely knows your habits, musical and political preferences.
Did you download your carā€™s app which gives you access to even more features? Well that also gives your car access to your phone and all the information on it.
The study found that of the 25 car brands, 84% say they sell your personal data.
And what they collect is astounding.
One example the study sites is KIAā€™s privacy policy. It indicates the company collects information about your sexual activity. I initially didnā€™t believe it until I pulled KIAā€™s privacy policy and read it. And itā€™s right there in black and white. It says it collects information about your ā€œethnicity, religious, philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, sex life, or political opinions.
Tumblr media
And it says it can keep your info for ā€œas long as is necessary for the legitimate business purpose set out in this privacy notice.ā€
Translation: Nissan can keep your information as long as they want to. And more than half of the manufacturers (56%) say they will share your information with law enforcement if asked.

Something I miss from earlier eras of the creative side of the internet was things just being unabashedly low-budget. Just all unashamedly amateur, unprofessional, ā€˜I donā€™t own a good camera but I have a story to tell youā€™, ā€˜I canā€™t afford a good mic but I have a song to sing for you,ā€™ ā€˜I donā€™t have any kind of background in editing or lighting and I only just picked up this guitar last Tuesday but hereā€™s an entire musical me and my friends wrote about our favourite book, we filmed it on a potato and put it up on YouTube in ten minute segments because we thought it was pretty funny.ā€™

I think a really fun idea to explore with Tim would be the idea of him having Hyperthymesia.
Hyperthymesia is an ability that allows people to recall almost every event of their life in great detail. It's extremely rare and honestly doesn't have that much research done on it, but recent studies have suggested that people with this ability are limited to autobiographical memories, people with HSAM sometime tend to show symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and may demonstrate obsessive tendencies.
I think it would be an interesting way to explain why Tim was able to recall his first meeting with Dick Grayson and connect the dots to seeing Robin. Tim does display a lot of obsessive behaviours, and while he doesn't really physically display compulsion (like someone with OCD would typically display) there certainly is a strong case to be made for him potentially having it.
But also, can you imagine how fucking horrible it would be for Tim to remember each and every traumatic thing that ever happens to him as a hero and those memories just never fading. Yes, it would make him a better detective and allow him to be arguably smarter than your average joe, but at what cost?

there's something to be said about how zhu sees both ouyang and ma xiuying as alternative bodies for herself. ouyang as her missing hand, her dog on a leash, who can enact violence for her in a way she personally can't; ma xiuying as someone who can feel emotions for her so she doesn't have to, especially things like compassion that zhu thinks will weigh her down, and then later becoming the body that conceives zhu's heir. ouyang gets all the parts of masculinity zhu doesn't like and ma xiuying gets all the parts of femininity zhu doesn't like. how she outsources these gendered things onto other people who she also views as part of her....

im gone cus im working on this very long last rejoice mini comic but i have an IDEA (ambitious)
what if i make my comic into a visual novel esque game instead.... i have this belief that it will actually take less time than a 400 page comic (or at least less drawing, but definitely more writing for me)... will that not be more fun and engaging!!
and get this.... you, the player, will be essentially writing your own fairytale based on choices you make! i'll make a fairytale retelling play out for every possible outcome that will get played by the end of it...!
i can do anything...(questionable)

Of course it's fucking THESEUS
okay. i havent shut up about the greek myth aspects of Simon's story and i wont stop now. At first it was a statue of Persephone in the garden, with it's head replaced to be Betty, giving the implication that Betty is the Persephone to Simon's Hades, and it was Simon's status as an antiquarian. and now we've gotten Simon being a huge nerd and bringing up Theseus completely unprompted (so real)
a bit of context in case you need it, Theseus was one of those greek "legendary Heroes" (Achilles, Heracles, etc.), and previously King of Athens, but had managed to dodge most bad things that happen to Greek heroes. he was just stupid and i guess they took pity on him.
The Ship of Theseus or "Theseus' Paradox", which I'd imagine all of tumblr knows by now, but if you don't, is the question on whether if a ship, specifically Theseus', is still the same ship after having all of its parts replaced exactly. To me this makes for such an obvious connection to Simon. Simon's story factors around identity, first and foremost. (yknow. "I Remember You" and all that?) The concept of not knowing what you are fundamentally was originally Ice King's thing, as his previous life as Simon was essentially history. But now that's being brought to Simon. and Simon has the lucidity to process what that means for him.

I feel like a lot of the parahumans arenā€™t going to be smart enough to understand that their powers are meant to remind them of their trigger event, exspcially when the reminder is metaphorical.

Obsessed with Jay fully knowing he has lightning powers, but tucking that shit so far back down it's right next to where he keeps all his insecurities. By which I mean I know damn well he is SO bad at hiding his element. The toaster in the break room is on the fritz and he goes over to fix it and winds up sparking it back to life on accident. Someone bursts into his office when he's playing video games and he startles so bad he sends an electrical shock through the controller and blows a fuse. He's out on a mission in the middle of a storm and whenever anyone touches him they keep getting zapped with weirdly powerful static.
He insists no one knows. The truth is that most people don't know because the Administration would have to do too much paperwork if Jay actually had powers so they live in blissful ignorance. The few that do know keep their mouths shut and decide it's just a quirk of their weird manager. Jay's humming the mission impossible theme under his breath every other day, which is probably why he never even bothered to get to the "huh, I wonder why I have these weird powers" stage. And he will continue to not think about it until he dies. Or Nya finally finds him and has a meltdown over her greatest fear coming true. One of the two

Hc that whenever Mr. Puzzles tries to be romantic. He specifically uses what heā€™s seen on tv. So it almost always ends up being either over the top or hilariously cheesy.
HAEHAH DAMN RIGHT!!!!
When your whole life has revolved around movies and tv shows I think you get some unrealistic views on real situations (like falling in love and making romantic acts). So of course he gets inspiration from like. Mama Mia or whatever popular romcom there is HFDKJSA
One day he's throwing his vest jacket over a relatively small puddle on the road that could've been easily avoided and when asked why waste a perfectly good vest he goes "isn't that what you're supposed to do?", and the other he purposely puts you two in a dangerous situation so you "can grow closer over (y)our shared trauma and have a heartfelt moment later on to advance the plot."
