why does hindi not have more than one word for magic!? Do you know how unintimidating someone sounds when they are a jadoogar? And the freaking movie won't leave my head. He was an Alien why was he called Jadoo? That means magic. ugh!.

I'm at Mantrik now but I will likely change it to Witch / Wizard / Magician or something. Mantrik doesn't feel like anything. Thought that could be a good thing and allow me to define them however I want.

Happy WIP Wednesday, y'all! I actually remembered before like 5pm today!

Anyway, here's a discussion about names from autumn flower, the wlw t4t wangxian fic. Wei Ying makes decisions for very serious, very well-thought-out reasons.

"You changed your name? Legally?" Wei Ying nods, cheek chipmunk-full of boba. Lan Wangji presses her lips together. "How did you decide?" Wei Ying bites her lower lip, blushing adorably. "Well, lots of people pick names from their family, or that they like the meaning of, or they're lucky enough to have a parent say what they'd have been named if they were born the 'other gender'—" Wei Ying does exaggerated air quotes— "but I picked mine because me and my jiejie have a running joke where I pretend to be three years old and she calls me a baby." Lan Wangji blinks and does the translation. "Your name is Ying as in baby?" Wei Ying nods, laughing helplessly. "That's me! I'm baby! No one puts me in the corner!"

I sketched it out first on the ipad, printed out on water soluble interfacing and did the outlines first. Then i dissolved it and filled everything in.

I'm pleased most of all with the decision to make the headband clouds in tiny french knots for texture, and by the fact that I managed to capture the emotion in his eye 💖
