What If? Limits Pushed…

Despite Y/N Cookie’s best attempts to defend themselves against Choco Drizzle Cookie, Pudding a à la Mode Cookie and Green Tea Mousse Cookie during the Elimination Round, they end up being overwhelmed by their combined attacks and get pushed to the very end of the stage.

Faced with no other choice, Y/N Cookie reluctantly allows Burning Spice Cookie to take the wheel. But, only for a little bit.

Rushing forwards, Choco Drizzle Cookie prepares to deliver the finishing blow. Only to have it blocked by Y/N Cookie’s blade.

At first, she believed that her opponent had a fast reaction time. But, as soon as she saw their face, she could feel her own jam run slightly cold…

They were…smiling at her. Sharpened teeth that shined a bright gold, eyes burning with the eager feeling of battle and roaring flames.

Then…They spoke…

“What’s the matter, Cookie? I thought you wanted a good fight!”

“I tire of watching you squirm! How long are you going to entertain these worms!?"

“I don't want your advice, Burning Spice. I will find a way!"

You were too busy deflecting Choco Drizzle's blade strikes, she was fast with her movements and had to take up your attention more then the others.

"Overwhelm them. Do not give them any breathing room.”

"Copy that. Hey, you don't mind if we bother you a little bit, right sweetie?"

"I've got them in my sights, sis!"

Yet, the other two would not make that easy.

Green Tea Mousse would charge at you with her shields, with a force stronge enough to send you back a few feet. Pudding A La Mode Cookie provided support with blasts from her cannon arms, leaving you little openings to deal with your main adversary, leading back to Choco Drizzle.

But they were simply nothing compared to your biggest problem, these damn Beasts in your head...

It had been a while since you've tended yourself with Golden Osmanthus Cookie's incense and the intensity of the combined assault from the three cookies did not help your mind relax at all.

It's making your jam boil, the fighting, it’s bringing him forth....

"It was a little amusing watching you fight all of them at once, but this is getting dull! You're always on the defensive, why should you hold back if they're not willing to?!"

"I’m not gonna take advice from a cookie that nearly crumbled my friends! A cookie that left me with such terrible pain on my dough...you Beasts are merciless, why should I trust you with anything you say or do..."

"Your friends are stuck under rubble, it is either you crush these wretches or you all will suffer a defeat!"

You hated it when he was right, PALM Cookie's attacks beforehand had led your team to be corner and eventually stuck under rubble....

You had to do something…

“What will it be, Y/N Cookie…?”

No, you couldn’t…

“Can you really afford to be distracted right now?”

“What the?!”

Choco Drizzle had zipped right up close, thrusting her blade rapidly at you. You had a tough time keeping up, especially when it’s intercut with a shield bash from Green Tea and a blast from PALM. Their combined attacks proving too much as you felt yourself teetering at the edge!

“Target is cornered, sis!”

“Moving in.”

“Last chance, Y/N Cookie! Your defeat or theirs!”

“……Crumbs.”

Choco Drizzle dashed forward, ready to use her blade to finish this fight as she raised it up in the air. Just as a blast from PALM left a blind spot open for her.

…..

She swings it down on you.

…..

…..

…..

…..

…..

…..

…..

*CLANG!*

Her blade was met with yours.

“What? How did you-“

“Finally…”

You deliver a punch to Choco Drizzle, knocking the wind out of her as you kicked her back, making her skid her feet on the ground. She looked on at you with brief shock in her eyes as her sisters join her, but she narrowed them shortly after.

“A minor setback. This changes nothing.”

“That was a pretty tough hit, what if they’re done playing, sis?”

“No way! We still got this! We can’t let them win!”

“Should we try Plan F, sis-“

She was cut off when a kick to her shield suddenly sends her backwards.

“Enough talk!”

“Sis!”

PALM Cookie flies up and shoots at you with multiple blasts, yet is unable to land any of her hits as you keep dodging out of the way.

“Is that really all that you’ve got for me!”

“Hold still! You’re moving so fast, it’s not fair!”

The continuous blasts at the ground started to plume up smoke as the cookies are observed within the fog. Green Tea and Choco Drizzle stick together as sounds of blasts continued to go around them.

“LET ME SHOOT YOU!”

“Sister, stop attacking! Fall back to us!”

“I don’t think she’ll listen at this rate, sis.”

The sounds of blaster fire suddenly stops.

The arena is quiet now….

“What plan do you suggest now?”

“I can’t think of one, but stick together. We still outnumber them.”

“That’s a first.”

The two continue to look around in the fog, searching for any kind of activity to get ready for.

They spot a glow from within the fog….

“Is that…sis?”

The glow gets brighter…as Green Tea makes her way to it.

“Sis, come back to us.”

“Wait a minute…SISTER, MOVE!”

Choco Drizzle moved Green Tea out of the way just in time as a beam shoots at where Green Tea was standing originally.

Green Tea barely had time to get up when an unconscious PALM is suddenly thrown at her, knocking both of them down.

Choco Drizzle looked around rapidly, turning around just in time to block a blade strike.

Your face, your eyes…they roared with a fire she’s not seen before. A grin that she didn’t see you with at all. It admittedly brought a chill to her dough.

“What utter disappointment! Where’s that strength you had?! Will you fall apart like they did?! Entertain me or CRUMBLE!”

another thing that article about C3 coupled with like, general considering the concept of fandom made me think about is parasociality because the thing is, parasociality has become a word that brings the conversation about actual play to a halt and it really shouldn't be because a parasocial relationship is inevitable. I'd even argue that it's something many AP shows (absolutely not just Critical Role) are banking on. TAZ's audience initially came from My Brother My Brother and Me, an ostensible advice show with a strong "hang out with us" element. D20's cast were CollegeHumor alums, many of whom had recognition and their own parasocial fandom through that; and that's not even getting into the fact that the go-to bonus content for actual play is a talkback or interview show that allows you to get insight into the player as a person, not just as a vessel for their character.

The issues, I think, are when the parasociality goes beyond "oh hey, it's a guy who makes characters I like" and it bleeds into the following:

Overfamiliarity. My personal bar for overfamiliarity is set quite low, much like my personal bar for spoilers, and this is related. Suffice it to say, this is when you do share that the relationship you have with this person in your head is way more serious than the one they have with you in theirs, if you have one at all. This is how you get people asking Liam O'Brien whether he has PTSD in front of a large crowd of people.

Conspiratorial thinking. Look to C2 shipping wars. Cataloguing someone's every blink and imagining it's indicative of a romantic intention; getting super weird about table placement. It can also overlap with overfamiliarity, in assuming all character choices or preferences are undeniably autobiographical (think people forcing YA authors to out themselves).

Acting like Annie Wilkes in Misery. Directly attacking creators based on their creative choices and demanding something else from them. Note: this is direct attacks; it is not criticism. See below.

The flip side: White Knighting: "It's THEIR SHOW and you CAN'T CRITICIZE IT" and statements of that ilk. Not always parasocial; sometimes this is motivated entirely by personal self-centeredness ("how dare you not like the things I like", though to be fair that's an unhealthily parasocial response as well, just towards other fans or strangers on the internet rather than a performer)

It's really that parasociality on its own is relatively harmless; the second it crosses into entitlement, either towards the creators themselves or towards the fandom, you have a problem.

Do you know what exactly this "ジジ" means?

When Pudding says goodbye to Sanji, she calls him that.

It supposedly means "Old Man" but it's weird that she calls him that. So I wanted to know if maybe it means something else.

i have been like, puzzling intermittently over this for months, but what seems most likely to me is that it’s a sound effect, not dialogue from pudding? jijiji is a sound effect used to convey a sort of buzzing noise, like gathering power, so i could see this being the sound of pudding preparing to use her devil fruit power. it’s a little unclear, because it’s put in the same boxes as her dialogue here, which is why i wasn’t entirely satisfied with that as the answer, but it seems to be what the official concluded as well (it’s translated as ‘fzzt’ in the official translation).

jiji as a word does mean old man, but that doesn’t really make sense in this context at all. (i was trying to figure out if it’s ever used by wives for their husbands in an affectionate way, but i couldn’t find anything to indicate that it is.) it cooould also plausibly be a nickname for sanji? but if that was the case i feel like it would be really odd to have here be the first and only time we saw it used. so ultimately i think it’s most likely to be a sound effect.

“Alright alright, you’ve earned it, here.”

“Has anyone seen Prune Juice Cookie? Did he come back from outside yet?”

“Uh, PALM. Did you happen to see him?”

“Hmm….”

“Nah, haven’t seen him.”

You were working on setting up the wreath on the door when you felt someone tap your shoulder!

“Hey, Y/N Cookie, do you have a minute?”

Yeah, give me a second.”

You thought the wreath looked pretty steady on the door and you turned around to see Green Tea Mousse Cookie literally face to face to you.

“Oh! Uh, hey there, Green Tea. What are you..up to?”

Green Tea kept her closeness, looking up above her as she nodded her head at you. You look up yourself to see that she was holding up a mistletoe above the both of you!

“Ah, I s-see!”

“Come on, are you going to deny me a kiss? Under the mistletoe?”

“What? No! That’s the rule, y’know. You gotta…kiss under the mistletoe.”

Green Tea went first, readying her lips and closed her eyes.

You did the same and were about to meet her in the middle…

“Hey, Y/N Cookie! You’ve gotta check out this snowman I made! It’s a little melted, but still looking pretty SPICY!”

You jumped at Capsaicin Cookie’s sudden appearance that it caused you to back up towards the door, hitting the wreath and making it fly up in the air! It would trap you three inside of it when it landed back down.

Green Tea yelped and let go of the mistletoe, going up in the air and landing on your head. She was surprised at first, but just shrugged and kissed your cheek, making you squeak as your face turned red.

“Woah, is that a mistletoe? Well, I ain’t turning down something like this! Are you ready to withstand my spice?!”

Capsaicin eagerly kissed your other cheek, only making the blush worse. Just how long would these two keep this up…?!

You were sampling a small cake slice to taste, figuring that the end product turned out pretty good.

“Y/N Cookie, Kouign-Amann Cookie needs your assistance for a moment! The Christmas tree needs the star placed at the top!”

“Coming!”

You leave the cake slice down and head off into the living room, allowing Prune Juice to slip right in and have a taste of the slice.

“Hmm, not bad, but it could use a little more to the texture. It’s a good enough I keep a particular potion for this occasion.”

Prune Juice Cookie pulled out a potion bottle, the contents of the liquid unknown but was that of a rosy pink color. A mischievous look to his face grew as he popped the cork off the tap.

“Just one drop is enough to make it even better…”

“What are you doing?”

Prune Juice jumped at the voice behind, turning around to see Choco Drizzle Cookie behind him, narrowing her eyes at the Cookie as she adjusts her glasses.

“I was just making sure the cake tasted just right for when the party starts.”

“And you chose to try it on that specific slice first? The same exact slice Y/N Cookie was eating?”

“I didn’t want it to ruin the cake if the potion ended up not working.”

“…You should leave.”

“And what about you? What are you doing? Are you just going to stand here in the kitchen all the time?”

“It’s so Cookies like you don’t try to take advantage. I’ll let this provocation slide for now, but know that I won’t be so lenient next time.”

“I think that you were just watching Y/N Cookie the whole time and I get it, they’re quite the sweet Cookie to look at~”

“I…don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Ah, so that’s what this was about all along.”

“I told you to leave. Now.”

“I’m back, Kouign was able to poke at the star with her sword until it fit into place…uh, what’s going on?”

The two stopped their back and forth to pay attention to you at the kitchen doorway. Prune quickly tossed the potion to Choco Drizzle!

“It was her idea!”

“You will pay for your transgression!”

"what is a woman" a person who says they are a woman next question. "what is a man" a person who says they are a man next question. "so you just believe anything people tell you?" well yeah I mean I assume most people are speaking in good faith in most circumstances don't you? obviously depending on the situation and tone in which the speaker is speaking I may re-evaluate my good-faith belief in the words coming out of their mouth, but outside of any genuine evidence that someone is fucking with me, if someone tells me what gender and pronouns they use I will simply believe them and move on with my life. if they were fucking with me that's their problem now, because I will use the pronouns they told me until they tell me to stop and change pronouns, and whether this is out of genuine self-discovery or out of walking back on a dumb fucking transphobic prank out of shame I will continue to use whatever pronouns and name they most recently told me they go by, because it's really not that hard, and first and foremost I want to be a good trans ally and secondly if I can embarrass a transphobe in front of other people by making them confront the fact that their joke isn't funny I enjoy that also. next question?
