So, I was about to write some more Spider, but then I saw this art and now I'm thinking about Shadow finding Sonic again. Or rather, Sonic finding Shadow.

Every time Sonic dies, Shadow feels loss. It's painful, just like it always is whenever anyone he cares about dies.

But, unlike the others, Sonic dying is bittersweet. Because, just as the seasons change and the wind blows, the windy season always returns.

He's started noticing the tells after several reincarnations.

A breeze will bring his favorite smells to him, even if they're farther away than he thought they would be.

A warm front brings rain for the local gardens.

Cool air blows around his quills on hot summer days, curling, as though embracing him.

And then, the wind stops.

Within seven days, he stumbles upon, one way or another, a mute little blue hedgehog with black eyes that glimmer with near immediate recognition.

Sonic, having once again returned to a mortal form, jumps into his arms with a big smile on his face. And Shadow, feeling his little heart beating, feeling his solid body producing warmth, thrumming with Chaos energy, sheds a tear or two into his quills.

"Welcome back, hedgehog."

Shadow is functionally immortal. Sonic is, too, in his own way. After all, the wind ebbs and flows, but it never fully stops.

As long as there is wind, there is Sonic.

Adding to the kitsune idea: Kitsune Tails but he’s evil (controlled by another) and sends Rangi and Wind God Sonic to an alternate dimension, right when everyone is still alive. Rangi has to go through the pain of seeing those she once knew while searching for a dangerous foe, all in her hedgehog form because being in echidna form would be too dangerous. Wind God Sonic accompanies her in the form of an artic fox (“No, you cannot take your old form. What would they think if they saw two Sonics?”), finding out what his friend truly thought of him and what he could change to be a better god. Meanwhile, in Tails’s head, he is unconscious and someone else is fighting for his freedom. Someone he has never met, and never will.

Wind and Water God Sonic (mostly done)

I mean it was either you guys wait another day or you get a 95% done drawing. I mostly say 95% because I'm highly considering giving him an actual pair of wings that look like fins cause I think it'd look cool. That other smaller percentage is cause I have to leave soon for a thing.

Anyways here's the gist of his main design!! :D

I decided not to do the other arm because already doing one was a pain. And by one I mean that one wing. Feathers are a pain to draw, okay?

OKAY. OKAY. SO. @punk-junkie69 hi its me again. i figured id visualize what the hell i was talking abt for u bc its really hard to get across in tags so BEHOLD. STELLAR SKETCHBOOK PAGE I DID.

i unfortunately didnt have time to do much more but this is my preliminary exploration of your oc and her identity in relation to skating and maria. i was trying a bunch of stuff at once in a very short amount of time, a lot of which i didnt end up liking, seeing how the faces differed and what elements could be combined or changed, etc.

and some of it didnt even make it past the highlighter phase. highlighter is actually a relatively new technique to me, i last did it several months ago with watercolor cats, so for someone who actually Does this regularly, id recommend checking out ginjaninjaowos recent videos and especially sketchbook tours, its fascinating stuff.

i was having a really good time playing with ponytail vs scarf vs tail for the flowy silhouette, so i took a different pose i tried and liked:

i felt like with the shapes i was going for, this post highlighted what i could do with them and left room for testing out the flow of different elements, so THIS is the one i took to digital, even though the pose itself doesnt scream "ice skater" like the actual referenced sketch from the previous page.

i stuck to 4 simple ones: a couple extra long ponytails, a big scarf, and one with the original trifecta of design elements. you can see how each of them has a different feeling, and even the consistent silhouette brings its own feeling which modifies the final product, so again theres a lot of iterating that could be done.

and there are. a lot of things. very fundamental things. that i would personally change about stellar if i designed her. but thats not relevant. you know why? because YOU can do whatever you want forever.

my biggest criticism of the crit you received off reddit is that they kind of. tell you where to go with the design? "lose this, emphasize that, do it This Way and think abt the Lore". i dont like that! i think art is at its best when its wildly self indulgent. if you want to give her a bonkers complicated sword bc it sounds awesome, do it!! if you want to give her hair instead of quills bc it looks better, then give her hair!! its Your Art!! make it worse on purpose to see what sticks! throw spaghetti at that wall! thats the primary reason why i made her fat in my version; because i would have fun drawing it, and therefore be happier with both the process and result. it making sense for the character is how i propaganda other people into doing it (this is a bit).

i actually really liked your initial sketch of her bc regardless of anything that could be improved, theres a lot of heart in it! theres whimsy in that pose and smile! theres fun in those patterns and complexities! the most recent iteration is Nice, but for as much as shes been "improved", she feels like she lost something. so go back!! make her worse and more fun on purposed!! for your soul!!!

Crack Theory Time!!!

The Sonic universe seems to have elemental gods; Fire - Solaris, Water - Chaos, and Earth - Gaia. But there isn't an Air based god. Or is there?

Sonic himself has a lot of association with air, attacks like Sonic Wind in Adventure 2, Being the Knight of the Wind, and even his speed in general can be read as an association with the air element.

He also has a unique connection to the Chaos Emeralds. The only other characters with a similar connection to them are Shadow and Silver.

Shadow is easy to explain, we know that it's heavily implied that Professor Gerald based Shadow off of the prophetic mural on Angel Island, so Shadow's connection to the Emeralds could be explained as being derivative of Sonic's abilities. And as a fan of the theory that Silver is descended from either Sonic or Shadow, that also explains his abilities.

But even Shadow and Silver's Chaos powers don't quite match up to Sonic's. They have only shown to be capable of using the Chaos Emeralds, whereas Sonic has successfully Chaos Controlled with a fake Emerald, when he had never even done it with a real emerald.

Shadow even says in the Final Hazard fight that Sonic may be the True Ultimate Lifeform. With Shadow being created for that exact role, based in Sonic's image, Shadow could be argued as being a false god.

Also I think I've accidentally just positioned Shadow as the equivalent of the antichrist, but thanks to power of Amy Rose, he didn't actually follow through on the whole destroying the world thing so let's just ignore that part

Also the only character who has successfully killed Sonic is Mephiles, who is literally half of a god. Nobody else has ever really hurt Sonic in a way that matters, even when in Forces he was supposedly tortured for literal months, the second he's on screen he's completely fine.

Combining that with the fact that every Mobian god that's been taken down has involved him in the fight, perhaps a god is needed to kill a god. No, needing help to stop Solaris doesn't break this, we just established that Shadow is basically a man-made god and Silver is probably a demigod.

So uh, Sonic is the Mobian god of Air in mortal form.
