Replaying Dark Revival for the first time in months for the Halloween overlay and I forgot how creepy the elevator scene is. Like WILSON if you don’t stop your YAPPING I’m going to backhand you to the shadow realm. You’re making my girl uncomfortable! >:(

So... I have a theory about Bendy. It is useless for the lore but can be interesting for understanding the world of ink (?).

I think Bendy doesn't really talk like we do but instead communicates telepathically and can only do that with the ink monsters.

Why do I think this?

I noticed that when Bendy talks to Audrey at the end of Dark Revival, he doesn't open his mouth to speak. Ok, maybe he's just a ventriloquist idk. But he can communicate remotely as we can see when Audrey is with Wilson at the start of chapter five. Besides, Wilson could not hear the demon's voice because he is not initially ink. Another fact that supports this theory is Henry. In Ink Machine, we don't hear Bendy talking to us. Maybe because Henry isn't ink either. Then yes maybe it was just a simple change without really having a purpose behind it but it's still strange. Maybe this could be confirmed if Henry and Bendy have contact in The Cage ?

InkDemonth 2024: Day 16- Erase

When I saw this word, I thought about it very carefully, honestly. I didn't want to do the obvious so I watched many times the gameplay where I could get an idea to do this day until I saw Wilson's machines.

Those machines repress Ink Demon, from there I got this idea represented erase. Erasing the imperfections.

BENDY AND ALL THOSE GOD DAMN MEMORIES

In "Bendy and the Dark Revival", there's collectibles. Can be recordings, can be papers...

... And can be this peculiar things called "Memories" in our Menu.

They're seemingly random objects, strewn across the Cycle.

Considering that they're in our inventory and they're called Memories, we might think that they are, in fact Audrey's memories. The Memory of Joey Drew, after all, said that we "chose to forget".

Wouldn't it make sense that we're simply collecting our memories then?

... But then, we run across a few that, don't make sense for Audrey. Run into a few that, don't quite line up with what we know about Joey. These in particular are our later Memory Objects.

So let's start at the end, and work backwards.

THE HOTDOG

Our last possible memory, because it can only be retrieved after we've crossed into the Endgame (no going back for quests or anything).

And its just a hotdog, after all, nothing too special besides the fact that Audrey won't eat it...

If it wasn't for the message nearby.

This the start of where I started to really question what was going on with these memories..

THE CRACKED MUG

Found only after you Complete Betty's quest. She doesn't know what it is, its just sorta in the fountain.

The Cracked Mug says it was a repurposed toy. If it were Audrey's, it would make sense for Joey to not have many toys for a ink-child, and thus, simply repurposed apartment items...

... except...

Except this very mug, cracked with a face and everything, references the Mug character of this very book found in Audrey's assign room, who explicitly carries Cheese in his mugginess.

( I should also point out, that this particular book was brought into the machine, and not made in it. It has an author. )

And there is a lot about Cheese here.

While Betty has said something about liking Books, she doesn't know a thing about the Cracked Cup or where it came from (or who it might be referencing).

And there are an awful lot of readable books in Wilson's retreat...

THE FASHIONABLE HAT

Found city-side in the Train area, which is only accessible AFTER you're capable of leaving the Retreat.

Explicitly a Man's fashionable Hat used in summer strolls.

While we could assume that its Joey's then...

... Bear in mind that we already have a message here, that talks about a man going on a stroll to enjoy the Sun.

Nathan Arch. And he is a very bald man, according to his picture.

I would want to protect my head from the sun too, if I had such a glorious and noble dome like that.

THE MILKCARTON

Found in the Pit.

While on assumption, we can assume that Milk was a shared commodity between Joey and his daughter... The fact that its found in the Pit, which would only be frequented by our "Machine Must Endure" faction, suggests that no, this does not deal with Joey or Audrey.

But it does imply that there is something similar with these memories. Perhaps, another parental-child relationship?

THE CRAYONS

This one can actually soft-lock you out of your achievements, because you cannot go back for it. Its explicitly in the MEMORY of the Studio--particularly, Chapter 1 of Bendy and the Ink Machine.

And it should be simple! Joey was an artist, of course lil'Audrey would want to be an artist too. Not a hard arguement...

... But I'm gonna give you a fun, real world fact.

Crayons were invented in 1903. They're over a hundred years old.

Let's keep this one in mind, since we have an implication in momentum going.

THE ALARM CLOCK

( Afraid I don't have the area spotted on this one. Clicked on it before i was thinking. )

Found near the Elevator Shaft, that dropped you into the Widow's Nest.

This one does make sense, as Joey in writing, did mention that there wasn't a lot of time, he knew he was dying, to spend with his daughter.

... But there was another, who said that his father never seemed to have time to spend with him. And with such an alarm clock, one could time when one could possibly catch, that missing parent...

THE ENGINE OIL

Found at the Artist's Rest.

You might not think much, and I didn't either, because in our part of time, Oil Changes aren't necessarily that frequent or required.

But for far older cars, early century 20th, you had to do it all the time. A far cry from even the 1970s' "change every 3,000 miles".

So this was, Early Early century.

... plus, what makes anyone think that Joey's rundown apartment building would even have a garage? And if it did, wouldn't it make better, more secure sense to place your oil can in the car, not where any of the other tenants could grab it.

Which means, this isn't Joey's.

THE RUBBER DUCK

Found going into Animation Alley, the dangerous bit where we run into the Ink Demon for the first time.

Not much can really be said here, except the hilarity that someone actually full on had a Rubber Duck, cartoon style, in their bath.

But there are a set of enemies that are associated with the Water... And wasn't Shipahoy Dudley a sailor?

THE AIRPLANE

Found in Heavenly Toy's, near the Toymaker's Secret Robot Toy.

Again, not very much said here. We've entered the parts of the memories that are indistinct.

THE BASEBALL

The very first memory...

Bud Louis is here, is actually a reference to "Buddy Lewis", a real world Baseball Player.

He played from 1935 to 1949.

And that's our final memory, we've earned the achievement...

... Hold on. That eye....

That looks like...

Audrey (Drew) was created after Bendy and the Ink Machine, which occurred in the early 60s--we know this, because the "failed Audrey" at the end of that game, called Joey "Uncle", meaning that the Cycle run we ran through as Henry ended up in a failure anyway.

We don't know exactly how old Audrey actually is, but she would've had to be "grown up" into her Adult self, about the time of Joey's death. She's definitely younger than the 13 years since BATIM...

So these aren't her Memories.

... They're Wilson's. Wilson, with his father. These show that he did, in fact, have a good relationship with his dad... at least once upon a time.

But why are they here? What does this have to do with Audrey "having Self-Discovery"? And could their manifestation have something to do with Wilson's terrible souring between him and his father?

Because according to this message...

... They're on enough good speaking terms, that Nathan either asked or allowed advice from, Wilson, in regards to what to do with his money.

You don't go asking that from someone who's embittered to you, and frankly, if you're embittered, why would you be suggesting anything to someone you hate?

Something happened here, that destroyed Wilson's concept of his father.

I have a theory.

Joey did want the perfect child, and the perfect child has a rich childhood. He couldn't obviously give that to Audrey, not with his death.

... But there is a Memory of Joey who loved Audrey very much...

... And would want her to "remember" a life.

And the Machine spoke to Wilson, didn't it, to tell him how to work it.

... Perhaps, all he needed do, was...

What was it that Wally Franks said?

"Donate something to appease the gods". Donate something, that would activate the Machine.

And in this case, was Memories, ripe for Audrey to find.

Me personally? I'd say... I'm Outta Here.

[ Personal Note: Joey Drew being a Bastard to his old war buddy by his using his friend's son is pretty inline with how we know he acts. ]
