i do have one patron crush but it's a beautiful sixty year old woman with the world's most chic silver hair she's like five foot tall weighs like forty pounds less than me i could pick her up and she would laugh so beautifully . i taught her how to do peyote stitch at one of the bead workshops and she started coming to our crochet club but ive MISSED EVERY ONE SHE'S ATTENDED. she knows my mom's best friend now because they do food pantry together. she's married . her name is cindy winter . cindy winter i would leave it all for you
#she's like an elf to me. an elegant little elf who always dresses like a cool old lady on tv only she's a cool old lady in my life#sometimes i like to daydream about what it'd be like if instead of a straight married woman with kids she was a single lesbian#and i charmed her with my quarter life crisis and interest in hiking and fiber arts. and in a need to impress her i finally got my life tog#cleaned my house finished my book . and we would garden together and she would wear the neatest straw hat. and#honestly i have not thought what the sex would be like but she's built like a very small ballerina like come on dude#cindy i hope you never find this#dont know why you WOULD but.#what they dont tell you about being older than 25 is that your idea of a dateable person goes anywhere from your own age to like sixty#at least in my experience. how many of those age difference hand wringers are only freaked out abt the concept#bc they havent yet reached their own threshold for acceptable older crushes#like mine doesn't go as far as seventy. yet. but by the time i'm forty it probably will

Where I grew up in Ohio, the women had to raise the kids, maintain the house, work overnight shifts at the hospital or the grocery store, clean out the gutters, and keep all the animals fed. They drank beer and watched football and never talked about their emotions all that much. They smoked out back behind their workplace, shot the shit with their co-workers, told their children to toughen up, and held a hard, complicated life together as practically as they could. They were the rocks of their families and their communities, both nurturing and no-nonsense, with little taste for sensitivity, frivolity, or extravagance. I was none of those things. As a child I was physically inept and passive, too terrified of other people and slow in my reaction times to play sports or fix things. Absolutely anything could make me cry, from a sad passage in a fantasy book to a broken refrigerator lightbulb. I pranced around the home on my tippy toes and waggled my arms in a flighty, fanciful way, and dreamed of becoming a fairy or elf. I was silly and too soft and downright effeminate, and though I’d been viewed as a “girl” since the moment I was born, none of these traits were particularly desirable or considered all that gender-conforming. Most people talk about “female socialization” as a kind of enforced femininity that’s imposed on anybody assigned female at birth. But I wasn’t a masculine girl who was punished for being insufficiently girlish. I was a feminine child who was made an outsider because of my foppish, impractical femininity. I wasn’t strong enough, tough enough, or masculine enough to be the ideal, low-maintenance kind of woman that my culture had prescribed. My upbringing was therefore far closer to what many gender non-conforming boys undergo than it was the stereotypical experience of the “female socialized.” And from speaking to other gay trans men and femme lesbian people, I’ve learned that my case is hardly unique. “Female socialization,” to the extent that it exists, is hardly a monolith. Femininity is not expected of every girl.

Remember when the dragon prince gave us canonically gay married elves, an interspecies interrracial lesbian couple involving a disabled character, non-binary characters of colour, martyred lesbain queens and mothers, a transmasc elf in a happy relationship whose transness isn't at the center of his relationship, and a trans woman who literally saves the world; all while never depicting queerness as something other than completely normal and accepted within that universe and still constructing relevant and important arcs for each of these queer characters that are essential in furthering the story. Because I do.
#the dragon prince#tdp#me talking#just finished season 7 after honestly kind of forgetting about this show for a few years#like who was going to remind me that this is a good queer show#was very tempted to put soren and corvus in here too but didn't want to detract from the actual canon storylines#but let it be known that I absolutely adore them too

An earnest question in regards to D&D not being queer (side note, I agree): short of having queer mascots/main characters or being called something outright queer with its title, what would an example of a queer TTRPG look like? Like, your characters being queer has a mechanical impact? The themes of the game being more in line with a queer experience? Something else I'm missing? All of that and more?
All of that and more. It's better I explain through examples:
Monsterhearts is an RPG written by trans woman with an explicitly queer perspective. The genre of Monsterhearts is urban fantasy, specifically young adult urban fantasy featuring teenage monsters in school settings. Its themes are growing up, adolescence, and queerness, and it uses monsters to explore this theme. It is thematically thus openly queer, but the queerness is also present in the mechanics, in both the Skins (the game's playable classes and archetypes) and in the core mechanics.
Dungeon Bitches (by site user @cavegirlpoems) is less coded and more explicit and it is explicitly a game inspired by D&D's genre of dungeon-crawling fantasy: it starts by accepting D&D's premise of dungeon crawling as an occupation in a medieval fantasy world and then asks who actually would end up doing that sort of thing. And the answer it comes up with is marginalized people, especially queer women, and Dungeon Bitches is about playing disaster lesbians in dungeons. The queerness is front and center and the game gives mechanical weight to the fact that the characters are outcast women living outside of polite society, and the mechanics support the bitches getting fucked up, falling in love, and other such cool dungeon activities.
Thirsty Sword Lesbians is probably the biggest name queer RPG on the market and I feel it deserves mention despite my own personal issues with it. It operates in the nebulous genre space of She-Ra and Revolutionary Girl Utena and is very much about lesbians crossing swords and flirting while doing swashbuckling adventures. It gives mechanical weight to flirting and romance as well as combat, and while I think it's quite simplistic in how it touches on queer themes, it is still engaging with queerness on some level.
And like, those three games bring the queerness to the table explicitly as part of the game text, the rules, and the buy-in. Unlike in D&D, where sometimes there's a gay elf, there really is no way to play any of the above games without a queer lens, because at that point you would be playing a fundamentally different game. In D&D the queer lens is optional and has to be brought by the players

can you pleeeeease post your dm sexuality/gender hcs on here.... 🥺 i don't have a twitter but i wanna know. it's like a pandora's box to me now i'm like scratching at the door. let me in
heres the link 2 the thread (mild spoilers btw) ill post a transcript under the cut for ppl who dont have twitter
first off i think laios relationship to sex is super removed for like 50 reasons without even getting into his actual sexuality
he grew up in a place with very repressed ideas about sex and has a lot of fear about asserting his presence in situations
his special interest takes precedent over any social interactions he has and the level of closeness he feels towards people
he has a hard time figuring out his feelings towards other people both bc hes autistic and bc he has freaky deviantart fetishes that make sex in his mind a very abstract concept <- this one is me projecting mostly
that aside, i feel like gender-wise hes attracted to ppl so infrequently it may as well be entirely case-by-case
the idea of him being gay appeals to me from the 'raised with traditional values he Does Not fit into/hasnt begun to question it yet' perspective, i lauve characters who put a lot of stock into performing a role thats expected of them and fail miserably for unknown (gay) reasons
from his perspective tho i dont think he would ever really label himself anything. hes going to pride parades in the shirt+shorts Ally Fit to clap for his friends
hes also 'cis by indifference' imo... i love tmasc laios hcs it just doesnt mesh w his personal history to me. i do think hes got some kind of therian gender thing going on (not trans or nb but a secret third thing) but i cant see him changing anything abt his appearance/pronouns to accommodate that post-canon. hes just doin his thang
falin is in a similar boat for gender. i LOOVE tfem falin but the village repression thing has been bugging at me so i dont think i subscribe to it anymore (canon purist sorry) BUT if u hold that hc i am clapping and cheering regardless
instead i was propagandised to a while back and i LOVEEE the idea that being fused w a male dragon and the residual traits she has after being revived have given her a type of gender euphoria she didnt realise she was missing. a little boygirl swagger if u will
sexuality-wise i also dont think she would care to label herself, shes a lesbian by virtue of only being interested in One woman and zero other people. without marcille i do think shes still exclusively attracted to women, and i like to imagine she might experiment around a bit during her travels post-canon (pre-relationship). hearing abt it might put marcille on the news though
marcille is very simple That is a transfem lesbian. she cant get pregnant, shes obsessed w being femme and all that combined w her half-tallman struggles to be seen as 'properly feminine' by elf standards reads very transfeminine to Me. also her bookboy crush REEKS of comphet its not subtle
i think a more comfortable marcy might have the space to experiment w being elf butch like her manga boys but thats mainly self indulgence for me. utena could have saved her
senshi is gay his whole thing is abt not being able to perform dwarven masculinity to a proper standard (soft hearted, not as strong or rugged as his peers) which is like gaycoding 101. also hes a bear. homosexuality be damned by boy can work a grill
adding onto this i rly think senshi got some type of euphoria from being an elf in the changeling chapters. he was feeling himself so much i think he was using it as an outlet to have fun being a little fem and fruity without needing to justify it. do u understand
i dont have any particular opinions abt him gender-wise beyond that. his bulge is an essential part of his character design but i also saw a transmasc senshi a couple days ago that made me nod my head thoughtfully so i could go either way
chilchuck is cis and bisexual this is just canon. not even just his old man crush on senshi altho i do think thats very funny but they put his ass on a cover themed like hes in a dating sim with all the men and women in the cast and then slapped it in front of a chapter called "bicorn". i simply cant pass up that kind of overt signaling. its so fucking funny what else is there to say truly
izu to ME is a transmasc aroace lesbian (this one has the least basis in canon i just know it to be true) shes a little genderfluid with it nd uses he/she i think. i like to imagine she consistently uses masculine personal pronouns to refer to herself either way tho (boku, ore)
i think izutsumis gender/sexuality is entirely secondary in priorities to her body dysphoria. she has a lot of learning and acceptance 2 do before that kind of self discovery is on the docket and in my mind eschewing gender on some level is part of that. get sillay
shuro is cishet but at least he feels bad about it. next listen listen to me i dont think he would ever actually examine this but i need u to put on ur tin foil hat with me for one second. i think estrogen could have saved her. i have more thoughts on this but im not gonna propagandise too much on this post just know that im right
kabru is a transmasc bisexual this is also practically text. his whole thing of being treated like a doll by milsiril to put in pretty dresses, plus i think it would be pretty easy for him to stealth in the west since tallmen are seen as inherently more masculine than elves
(i also think changing genders is just more common for elves. theyre androgynous enough that it wouldnt be hard and like who in their right miiiiind would be the same gender for 500 years. dwarves too)
i think he started presenting as male socially in the west but didnt need to consider medical transition until he moved to a more mixed culture where other races might see him as a woman
i dont have to explain the bisexual part. have u seen him
namari is a butch bisexual this is just canon straight up. shes not transmasc but i think the default settings for dwarven women is like 4 years of T regardless. shes a hit at all the local cruising spots despite her renfaire nerdisms i know this
and just bc im thinking abt em kiki and kaka are identical and kiki is tfem :} theyre both attracted to women but kaka is a sub so i forgive him
THATS ALL 4 NOW theres a lot of characters so i cant have thoughts abt all of them at once but i hope this was good. im right about everything forever as per usual

I keep seeing artwork of Falin and Marcille where Falin is super oblivious to Marcille's affections or the concept of lesbianism itself and you guys could not have it more backwards. Falin's the one who initiated the handholding while they were bathing together, Falin's the one who wanted to introduce Marcille to her family cause she's just so amazing. Falin's autistic but she isn't in anyway ignorant of romance.
Marcille is a super conservative woman who probably hasn't fully internalised the fact that she can be attracted to other women, she looks at Falin and thinks "Yeah i love her as a friend! I treat her like a little sister cause she's so young compared to me!" and then her breath hitches in expectation when they get too close in the bath and she starts freaking out when she sees Falin expose her breasts and she just doesn't think about it.
If either of them were unaware it would be Marcille out of that conservative comphet mindset of "it's normal to be find women attractive, everyone does, it doesn't mean you're gay or anything" while Falin was treated as an outsider in her village and magic school from day one for being abnormal and would completely roll with her feelings of wanting to rail her girltwink elf friend.

Dungeon meshi manga spoilers:
I love how subversive the story is with its characters. Like, Marcille seems like the generic softcore healer elf love interest for the blank slate main character, but nope, shes a frontline lesbian dark mage whose favorite spell seems to be Explode Cranium and her hobby is reading banned books about necromancy. Laios, the guy that initially looks like the typical human knight self insert? Well he learns magic and gets contacted by a demon which he later swore an oath to (and ate), so hes more like a negative karma autistic Paladin who eats monsters. Chilchuck? The rogue character traditionally associated with being an aloof conman womanizer? Oh yeah, bicorns want to eat him because hes a great husband of three and a union man. Senshi, the dwarf thats supposed to be all about mead, meat, metal, and masculinity? He noticed you were hungry so hes been in the corner making quinoa salad out of plants he grew in his garden(golem) this entire time. Dont ask how he got the dressing you dont wanna know.

For all their screaming and crying about how Solas deserves compassion I feel like a lot of S/lavellens lose their credibility when they bend over backwards to defend Solas's every flaw but do not extend any of that grace or sympathy to characters like, Vivienne, Blackwall, Dorian or Sera, whom they tend to boil down to being arrogant, a liar, pro-slavery and racist. It's really telling that it's about their romance and nothing else. Like, girlies, your man has all 4 of those qualities going on at once and is, if anything, less justified because given any opportunity to grow or change he says "no". I do not want to see you in the Blackwall critical tags after you wrote a 1000 word essay on why Solas should be redeemed.
Yep. I think sera is a particularly good example of this (though they’re all fair examples), because their actions are so similar (though with wildly different reasons) and the reaction so different. Sera expresses her disconnect from elven culture due to being raised by humans and only really having it acknowledged she’s an elf when someone is being racist to her or bothering her about why she’s not elfy enough, and gets almost no sympathy. She’s called racist even though, if you take five minutes to actually listen to what she’s saying, it becomes clear that it’s internalised due to how she grew up. She is also literally like 20.
Solas, meanwhile, belittles and demeans modern elves literally just because he’s an asshole. There’s no childhood trauma here. There’s no internalised racism. He just doesn’t think modern elves are people and thinks the culture they lovingly cultivated and insisted on keeping, despite constant efforts to wipe it out, is stupid. But he’s not called racist, no he’s oh so wise and insightful, please solas bless us with your wisdom while we kiss your feet.
Solas committed a genocide, created the blight, treated his victims with contempt for continuing to exist, killed multiple people, used people as tools, killed trusted allies for so much as questioning him, arranged major attacks killing swathes of people, denied those people personhood to justify it, lied, manipulated, gaslit and betrayed everyone in more ways than you can count, and it is less acceptable in some areas of this fandom to criticise him at all than it is to act like the 20 something lesbian dealing with internalised racism is an evil racist witch with no redeeming qualities, or to act like the black woman who is trying to work within a system to protect her people as much as she can is an evil oppressive witch with no redeeming qualities (they’re comparing Vivienne to Mythal now. I wish I was joking. Apparently having a flawed but well intentioned approach to protecting innocents who are discriminated against is comparable to running an empire fueled by slavery).
Like lots of these characters have flaws, but none of them are approaching Mr Genocide, yet they’re attacked and given no grace while if you say one critical thing about mass murdering pookie bear you get called a slur.

Once again I am so completely in my Janaya feelings because they're just so well done as a ship and so refreshing as a canon queer ship in particular??
Like they're rival generals who are uniquely matched in skill! We see how good of a fighter Amaya is in S1 (she's the top General of the Standing Battalion for crying out loud) so having someone who has her even somewhat on the run in S2 immediately catches our notice, as well as just how striking Janai is, even before we know she's the Golden Knight of Lux Aurea and sister to the queen.
Then we get some fun games of cat and mouse with the two circling and outsmarting each other; Janai luring Amaya's troops into an ambush and then having Amaya outsmart her way through anyway, and Janai ruining Amaya's plan to sever the Breach as a connective point between their lands (at least temporarily). It's small, but it shows that they're not just physically matched in battle, but intellectually too, and it makes their connection / rivalry feel more personal.
But of course this starts to shift when Amaya is stranded on Janai's side of the Breach, and spares her life because there's been enough unnecessary violence, having to literally Drop her shield to do so (mm, the symbolism).
We then get a new stage of their dynamic, as Amaya is very good bad at being interrogated ("She may have told you a rather unusual way in which your body might accommodate your sword") even if Kazi tries to minimize the ruder signs along the way as an interpreter. And even when Amaya could just look at Kazi for translation, her gaze continually strays to Janai. Then, Janai vouches for Amaya to her sister and Amaya has to trust Janai in the Light trial, which is also why she asks Janai to trust her when Viren shows up and starts causing trouble.
What follows is a fire forged friendship (literally) where Janai experiences Amaya's greatest grief -- the loss of a sister -- and they support each other through the battle to come, especially now that they have a common enemy. There's even blushing, battle gazing smiles, being protective, and paralleled hand holds.
Then, when we pick up after the two year timeskip, it's quickly apparent they're in a relationship — "But there are some things you shouldn't keep secret, especially from me" — and hints at exactly what kind of traditional ceremony this is, as Janai proposes and the two embrace and kiss.
And the show always, consistently, constantly, discusses their love for each other frankly and in terms no one can mistake.
"I know [she's a fearsome fighter], that is what I love about her," "The only message is that I've chosen this amazing woman to be my wife," "I love you and I'm ready to marry you," "I only really know one thing: Amaya, I want a life with you, I want to marry you," "Our queen and her bride to be just left on a romantic picnic in broad daylight!" "I just need a distraction—that's right, wedding planning." "Is someone getting married?" "Now I know how wrong I was about elves: I'm in love with one [...] Meeting Janai, falling in love" etc etc. Even down to the little details like Amaya's sign name for Janai being a J over her heart.
I also really appreciate that they're able to be so physically affectionate, particularly Amaya towards Janai in her tenderness as well.
At the same time, they don't always entirely see eye to eye. Amaya is adjusting to a culture that's not her own; Janai is still finding her footing and more importantly her confidence in being queen, even without internal usurpation coups going on and an evil blood drinking lesbian Moonshadow elf on the loose.
They trade and gift each other's another swords so they can be by one another's side in spirit when they do have to part. They're happily planning their wedding and giving each other hope throughout the encroaching madness of their lives. They get cute little callbacks to things like "She thinks I'm cute but won't admit it yet," exchange loving looks when their tribulations are done, and love each other with their whole hearts, allowing them to provide allegorical commentary on some of the societal pushback LBGTQ+ couples receive while also never having it dominate their shared plotline(s) or arcs with one another.
I just love them a lot, and these are some of the reasons why! I can't wait for more of their relationship development in S6 and S7!
#janaya#lesbian#happy pride 🌈#pride#tdp#the dragon prince#long post#appreciation#wlw#i love them So Much

I'm an afab lesbian but if I could choose to be anything anywhere I'd love to be an elven femboy in a fantasy world who is dainty on the surface. But that front is just a ploy because 1. I love the idea of being a pretty boy 2. I love the idea of being a pretty boy who is actually just a relentless pervert for beasts.
I want a big tall strong wolf woman to think I'm easy prey and then paralyze her with spells. Hear her whine while I use her fat furry tits to milk elven jizz with~ Or pick up a sneaky goblin girl and give her a good anal jackhammering if she thinks this elf is that easy to steal. You think my clueless farce is real? Cute~ Or romance *and* breed an honest-to-god dragoness. Not the humanoid ones either I'm talking straight up dragon pussy goshhhh... Oh, would love to fingerblast some fairies too.
Sometimes I do wish I can get in some sort of a lewd fantasy world simulation as this character ;; I am not transmasc I swear (to be revised)

Things I know abt dungeon meshi solely by having mutuals who are into it
theres two lesbians one of which (falin) is like a feathered transgender woman who canonically has a massive dragon dick and the other (marcille) is an elf who is worlds biggest struggler
senshi aka the bear dwarf who gets pantyshots and exists as a tulpa in peoples brains that makes them eat better
namari the female dwarf that actually looks like a dwarf
laios (laois?) the Human Fighter whos actually balls to the wall insane and also a monsterfucker and also falin's brother
chilchuck the halfling whos married w kids and is in an union but everyone portrays him as divorced and probably kissing senshi
izutsumi the catgirl whose very name is a meme
very based and cool character design overall with genuine diversity amongst the fantasy species. think the antithesis of world of warcraft
themes of class and neurodivergence
mana = excuse for yuri
actually theres so much yuri
farcille fanartists regularly putting out yuri that would belong in the sistine chapel
the overtaking of its normally yuriful ao3 by yaoi </3
tasty and scrumptious meals i will never be able to consume because slimes and dungeon creatures arent real

Okay so Lesbian DabiDeku (this is @dark-elf-writes fault)
Lesbian DabiDeku is with UA university. Izumi is a very tired person who is going to school for analysis because her ‘boyfriend’ Bakugou thinks its a good thing for her to do before she ‘stays home with their kids’. Izumi lives analysis but she hates being forced into this. Her entire life she's felt like a puppet for her mother and the Bakugou family as they created this little story of an ‘underdog hero supported by his childhood sweetheart’.
Never mind Bakugou is rich, had a great Quirk and has never been told no. Never mind she has scars all over her from him. Some from his bullying and some to claim her.
Izumi is so tired. She can't pick her own clothes, can’t really make friends because Bakugou is Bakugou. Hell the only people who ignore him to stick around her are Uraraka and Iida who both know something is up but can't really get her to talk.
Her mom wants this. Her mom who has been crying for years over the loss of her husband, who dreams of being family with her best friend, her mom who tugs and pulls and wanted a perfect daughter but got a Quirkless girl.
Izumi is tired.
She ends up going to a bar one night. Just needs to take some time for herself. She’s wearing clothes she picked out herself for once. Soft sweater and a skirt. She has leggings and her hair is up instead of down.
Across the bar is a woman. She’s wearing a leather coat, a tight crop top. She's covered in scars and piercings.
The woman offers her a smoke after waltzing over in her big boots. Izumi, tired and frustrated, takes it. They begin talking.
It ends with Izumi’s leggings yanked down, skirt hiked up and fingers in deep.
She goes back to school with a number on a piece of paper. She does analysis. She smiles without showing she's shattered when Bakugou grabs her and drags her around.
She texts the number and slips off.
Its the start. She's tired.
Dabi brings out her rage through touches, kisses and whispers of ‘don’t you hate it?’
Izumi cuts her hair one day and Bakugou flips out in the middle of the university. He’s yelling and she stared at him and tells him, ‘you can beat the shit out of me later I have class’
And things change.
