the hate for any non-canon ships, even if they don’t “break” canon ones in TOH fandom is absolutely ridiculous
even ships like gustholomule, with characters who have no canonical love interests, is hated on, simply bc “it’ll never happen”
shipping is almost NEVER abt what will and won’t be canon, it’s abt character dynamics, exploring relationships, seeing (a) character/s you adore be happy and hold hands with someone who also adores them
and even tho huntric began as a crackship/pipe dream, as both their characters and personalities were developed more, we just have more evidence that they would be good together (which tbh I need to make a post on)
BUT even if we never got that, and there wasn’t any ‘real’ connection between them, that still wouldn’t matter and people would still be 100% entitled to shipping them
Something that really bothers me that a lot of the TOH fandom doesn't seem to understand is that Goldric/Huntric, as a ship, did NOT originate from Edric and Hunter briefly interacting. Goldric/Huntric is one of the oldest if not the "original" Hunter ship. In fact, that's why it's called Goldric!
It was a ship before we even knew Hunter's name, and before Hunter even showed up in the show! We knew that both Hunter and Edric were 16 year olds, and everyone was really hopeful for TOH having an actual M/M romance that wasn't just the gay dads trope (unfortunately, TOH falls short in its representation for MLM).
The ship is a crackship, absolutely, but by no means is it a ship because the two of them interacted for a few moments. It is a ship born out of the hope for an main M/M pairing and a ship born out of the acknowledgement of how these two characters have (unintentional) parallels and foils within their stories.
By no means does anyone have to ship it, but it's frustrating to see people think that it's just a ship because they "stood next to each other" or that it originated that late into the show. (But, to be clear, even if that was the case, there's nothing wrong with it!) The TOH fandom is the first time I've seen in a fandom where people genuinely bash on others for non-canon or crack ships, so I just wanted to clear up the origin of Goldric and explain that it is one of the "original" Hunter ships.

Lumity: wasted potential of the show
Lumity isn't as bad as Huntlow. They were planned since the beginning, they had time for development, even if it was a bit rushed. But they still have writing problems that we should address:
1. Amity's character almost dissapeared. During first season she was the most interesting character out of all, despite the fact that her arc was rushed and involved retcone. But after her redemption, she turned into sweet awkward nerdy girl. It's not realistic in any way to become completely different person in a couple of months, and it also made her boring. She's the second of three ex-villians who got the same new characterisation, which is bad by itself, but she also lost her special chemistry with Luz which we saw in Grom episode. This episode was Lumity's peak you can't deny it
2. Amity is just Luz's gf and nothing more. She has nothing to wish except being with Luz and seeing her being happy. No ambitions, no goals, no new friends. Just Luz. She thinks only about her, she talks only about her, she does everything only when it's about Luz. Only exception is Reaching Out, but it was also turned into Luz's thing. As much as I hate Huntlow, Hunter at least had something except love for Willow. It's bad not only because it makes Lumity a copy of awful mlw couple trope, it also doesn't show hurmful tendency (dependence on a partner and being obsessed with them) as something bad.
3. Lumity made Luz look bad. You know, dating your first friend's ex bestie and ex main bully is kinda messed up. It wouldn't be that problematic if Willow and Amity had already become friends again, but it's not what we've got.
4. Mistrust between Luz and Amity. I agree that the reason is that Luz is a bully victim and Amity reacted hurshly several times when Luz did something wrong. But it doesn't change the fact that it shows another hurmful idea that good partner has to forgive every bad thing and in the wrong for being offended. This moment of Amity would be cute if it appeared ones and clearly showed that she has changed and now she's much more patient with Luz. But in canon, Amity just allows Luz to treat herself like shit bu lying to her (and not only her) over and over again. And Luz lying three times (even if lie about Belos is justified) about things that are important for their shared future and for Amity's safety don't paint her in a good light. There's a line between not being too hursh to partner when they did something wrong and being a doormat for a partner because you were wrong in the past.
5. Imbalance in the effort invested in the relationship. As it is clear from my points that I made earlier, Luz is everything to Amity, while Amity for Luz is just a girlfriend. Amity's doing everything for Luz (which is not good), while Luz isn't even prioritize saving Amity over just being with Eda. In season three they barely interact at all. And now it isn't about Luz being the wrong one: it wasn't the right time for cute couple stuff. Actually, if you think about it, Luz's attitude towards Amity is much healthier. It's just too miserable to see Amity being Luz's loyal puppy who buried all her goals and ambitions, while Luz treating Amity like she treats other friends.
In conclusion, I don't say that they had to be like catr*dora or stol*z, no way. Healthy relationship should be portrayed in media, especially for kids. But there's the difference between being called healthy and being actually healthy. Lumity isn't abusive, isn't even toxic, it's just not a relationship goal. In the ideal world, their flaws should've been addressed and resolved in the show, so they can actually become healthy couple.

For TOH:
Which is your fav character?
What do you think of Belos as a villain?
How does TOH compare to Amphibia and Gravity Falls in how it handles it themes and character arcs?
What are some things TOH could have done better?
Which is your fav character?
Gus! Closely followed by Willow and then Hunter. Honestly, there's very few characters I don't like in this show.
What do you think of Belos as a villain?
He was a great villain, A+ villain design--he was powerful enough to prove a threat, intimidating in design, he had a sense-making motive, but not one that absolves his actions in any way. His defeat could have been done better (couldn't Hunter have been there, instead of Raine--as lovable as Raine is, they had zero thematic reason to be one of the very few characters at the final defeat scene), but Belos is a great villain for the themes.
How does TOH compare to Amphibia and Gravity Falls in how it handles it themes and character arcs?
TOH is a good show, but it is nowhere near as good as the other two shows with handling its characters. It's written as though Dana Terrace was afraid of ambiguity or giving good characters flaws/bad characters strengths. This isn't to say that all the good characters have no flaws, but the show seems scared of actually acknowledging those flaws.
Luz does have an external arc of going from 'naive girl who wants to learn magic' to 'less starry-eyed girl who is very good at magic', but her internal arc doesn't make as much sense--the show seems like it's deconstructing escapist fantasy at the beginning and Luz needing to have an arc about seperating reality for fantasy, but that kind of gets lost along the way, in favour of a 'you're perfect just the way you are and people just need to understand you' arc, and giving her quirks, instead of flaws. Similarly, Odalia is made into a cartoonishly evil character, so that Amity is absolved of all blame for the way she treated Willow, which I think does all three characters--Amity, Willow and Odalia--a disservice. Compare this to Amphibia, which pulls absolutely no punches when it comes to the main characters being horribly flawed and accountable for their actions, or Gravity Falls where the characters flaws very much drive the action, in a way that they don't in TOH.
The other way I think that GF and Amphibia write their characters and themes better than TOH is by making key character moments tie in with their themes. The best example to talk about this through is by comparing Anne's fake-out death to Luz's. Anne's entire arc has been about one main thing--learning to do the right thing instead of what is easiest--and her main character flaw from the beginning is that she prioritises her own comfort over doing the right thing for herself and for others. Anne sacrifices herself for Amphibia--doing something incredibly hard, but for other people, which is the perfect culmination of everything she's been learning. Luz's fake-out death results in her becoming the Titan's Chosen One, which contradicts the arc shaping up in S1 where Luz had to learn that there are no Chosen Ones and that the Boiling Isles aren't a fantasy world. To be totally clear, this does make sense as part of her arc--harnessing the power of the Titan is the final piece in Luz truly becoming a witch, but her entire arc is external. Her internal character doesn't significantly change over the course of the show, because it can't because her flaws are all written off as 'quirks' and the show's big thesis is that weird people should be able to be weird. (This is coming across as really complainy, I'm sorry. I promise that I genuinely really enjoyed the show.)
What are some things TOH could have done better?
Write the Blights better. Escaping Expulsion was the best episode for the Blight family dynamic, with Odalia being awful, but not cartoonishly evil; Alador having a conscience but also being a pretty checked-out and neglectful parent, and Amity seeming actually influenced by her mother's influence
On that note--let Amity take at least some accountability for the way she treated Willow
Put finding Phillip Wittebane's diary, Amity's hair-dyeing, and the first Lumity kiss in any episode other than one of the only Gus-centric episodes in the whole show
Allow characters to be more morally grey and let redemption arcs take some time
Reduce King's-ego-trip subplots by AT LEAST 50%. I didn't actually enjoy him all that much until Echoes From The Past because I found his whole trying-to-take-over-the-world shtick a little annoying
I think that's all
Once more, I actually really, really enjoyed the show and had a great time watching it, I just have lots of feedback

I don't know if you've watched Gravity Falls or been deep in the fandom but I just realized how similar Luz and Mabel kinda are. They're both young quirky girls whose selfish actions helped the main villain achieve their goal (supposedly, in Luz's case) and learn the lesson of facing reality instead of being stuck in a fantasy world where they get everything they want (although Luz doesn't really learn this even though it was kinda set-up for her in s1) (they also have a girl rival with shit parents that the fandom ships them with but anyway-)
I'm not saying this to shit on Luz though, I like Luz. But it mind boggles me how Mabel gets shitted on way more than her does despite being younger, actually learning her lesson, and apologizing for it. It might because they're different shows but I know a lot of TOH fans were/are GF fans because of the creators' relationship so the fandoms aren't that different from one another. It MIGHT be because Mabel trusted Blendin so easily despite the situation being shady as hell (while Luz just thought Philip was a normal human in the demon realm) but to be fair, Mabel was cornered in a moment of vulnerability and she literally didn't even know what she was giving him. Abandoning her friends and family for her own fantasy land while an apocalypse going on was really horrible, I won't deny that, but Luz also pretty much did the same when she chose the demon realm (place she doesn't know anything about with STRANGERS) over her own world in the first episode. Sure there wasn't anything horrific going on in the human realm so her ignorance of it wasn't as bad as Mabel's– BUT THEN in TTT she thinks of leaving everyone behind by staying in the human realm while the Collector was doing who knows what???
I don't know, this might be kinda petty, I haven't rewatched GF in ages, but I just think it's unfair Mabel gets more hate than Luz. I feel she's had more character progression compared to the latter and at least she always got called out when she did something wrong and learned from it.
So take all of this with a grain of salt because while I've heard a little of this discourse, I haven't watched a lot of Gravity Falls (recently tried again and found myself not loving the first episode if I'm honest) and have never been a part of its fandom. However, this is a chance to talk about why Luz is so liked and 'relatable' to so many because it is not hard to figure out why people like Luz. Why? Well... A lot of it comes down to framing and how the two shows see the two girls.
Gravity Falls sees Mabel as a tweenage girl.
The Owl House sees Luz as the embodiment of what a teenage nerd wishes they were/could be.
Those are VERY different goals and framing.
One, Mabel, is going to be INCREDIBLY fallible. Neither her or Dipper are anywhere close to perfect people because... Well, they're teenagers. They get way too into certain things. They're awkward when it comes to those obsessions. They're awkward about how to deal with change, consequences, etc. like that because that's just the age they are. They're figuring out the world and are going to run face first into it and that will be awkward, clumsy and often destructive without any sort of excuse besides they didn't think the consequences through. That's kids for you.
The other is... More idealistic. Luz doesn't face real consequences for testing her boundaries and is always bailed out. When she fucks up, she always does it with the best intentions and/or no one actually gets hurt. People coddle her and always make concessions to her desires with minimal push back and always end up on her side unless they're just a REALLY big meanie head. She always makes peoples' lives better, she never gets real criticism or ridicule for her interests and is always accepted by the right people for those interests. Always given more and more for being her quirky self!
A lot of this for Luz is because she's an audience surrogate and TOH wants the audience to feel good about themselves. It knows that a lot of nerds will be the ones watching it and leans in. This is actually contrasted by the fact that, well, Mabel isn't the audience surrogate or the absolute primary character of Gravity Falls. Her role is more complicated versus Dipper who IS the nerdy one who's closer to being the audience surrogate.
Just to really drive this home: People on my Discord have talked about this and one of the biggest 'crimes' as seen by a lot of the fandom is that Mabel causes Dipper to lose out on his dream of researching with Ford and staying in Gravity Falls. I could even see some arguments of things like "He's planning a future!" or "He's making the world better!"
But... Let's shift the framing for a moment from "Mabel caused Dipper to give up on his dream" to "Mabel made sure Dipper chose reality over fantasy." After all, his desire was to throw away his friends, his family, EVERYTHING to just continue hanging out with this one old dude and studying the weird phenomenon of the world, an inherently isolating job. He gets to go on this big adventure and follow his intellectual drive... At the cost of reality and everything he has known.
So why don't people get upset at Dipper for trying to do this? Well, there's a lot of potential reasons that I can't really narrow down without watching the show. It may have just been framed as a positive while Mabel's is framed as negative. It could be that while Mabel's is just a generic, girly fantasy that not much of the core audience actually wants, Dipper's is the cool, smart fantasy that is totally not just a fantasy, but a CAREER. Or it could go back to the root problem: Because Dipper is closer to the audience surrogate, closer to the main character, there is a bias to inherently see his actions as good. We could literally watch two characters do the same thing and we will root for the main character simply because that is who we are trained to root for.
A great example of this from TOH is how Luz is allowed to get mad at people for lying to her but not the other way around. She literally attacks Eda and gets the two captured in Titan, Where Art Thou? because Eda lied to her and she is supposed to feel justified in this anger to make the tragedy angle work. Meanwhile, there is ONE time when anyone gets mad at Luz for lying and honestly, the framing and reactions cause it to end up feeling much more like it was just for a prettier scene change during Reaching Out. After all, Amity still wants to fix Luz's pain before Luz even apologizes for breaking her word by lying. So why doesn't anyone call out the hypocrisy here? Why is NO ONE allowed to get upset with Luz about this?
Because she's the main character. Because we are trained to root for her and, well, Luz also is the one we are told to want to be. She is the every nerd. She is meant to connect to a very wide net of outcasts who feel like they don't belong and wish things were different. Wishes people weren't mean to them or didn't get mad at them when they made mistakes. That just let them be the hero of their own story.
So of course, they don't want Luz to be yelled at, even when that is the actually human and reasonable thing for someone to do. They don't want to question what she does so when the show gives them an excuse, or they have to go to reality if the show itself doesn't give an excuse (This is why people emphasize Luz's age and nuerodivergence to excuse her while bluntly ignoring Mabel's age when it comes to her actions), so that they don't have to recognize that Luz does some REALLY shitty things, especially in the back half of the show. It is simply more convenient for the narrative they want out of the show for Luz to be this way.
And that is okay from a casual standpoint. A lot of fiction is escapist. There's nothing wrong with wanting to jump into a world where you're never actually wrong and never in trouble. Where your angst is always met with hugs and understanding rather than actual human emotion. That's how media works. Most mass appeal products are escapist. It's part of why the Isekai genre is SO prevalent right now because it is one of the purest forms of escapist fiction out there, especially due to modern isekai tropes.
But if you're going to talk critically about something, escapism is very rarely a good jumping off point for it. It will make you ignore a LOT about the work because it's uncomfortable for you to ask questions about it. I'm not talking about "Why does this world have magic" sort of things mind you. I'm talking about, say, "Why does this character get so many power ups, so easily, and with little effort in earning them?" When you want escapism, the pacing won't bother you. If you're actually looking at themes and payoffs, it will bother you a LOT. And yes, this does tie into TOH because if you want to be Luz, getting the glyphs feels great! If you actually interrogate the story, you go "Wait, they hadn't actually done like... ANYTHING with her not having magic in a magical world and she already gets a spell? And two of these spells she does literally nothing for. Arguably three since she is put into timeout as a punishment and gets the glyph I guess for being a bad person." That TOTALLY is good storytelling and makes sense with positive themes and proper explorations of its own ideas.
*sigh*
It's a rough push and pull and it can make it so people, even if they like the show, who disagree with the popular opinion, the one that usually lifts up the audience flattering elements the most, are just in a rough position where they hear the same opinions over and over again. All while knowing that if they speak up, they'll be stomped on.
Just like Mabel was while Dipper was raised into the spotlight. At least by the fandom.

The Ultimate Character Design Tournament
Please remember to vote for characters solely based on their design, rather than which character you are more familiar with or like more!
Characters and propaganda under the cut!
Inosuke Hashibira | Demon Slayer
Tumblr media
While I don’t vibe with all Demon Slayer designs, I think the design of Inosuke and specifically his /mask/ is absolutely peak. The way it’s beady, jutting eyes are places and the way it makes you doubt for a second if that’s actually his real head- it lends itself to looking either goofy or downright manic and menacing depending on what the scene calls for. It’s so cool! MAN I love Inosuke
Death | A Matter of Life and Death
Tumblr media
Rosalina | Super Mario Galaxy
Tumblr media
Space motif. Color palette pretty. Emo bangs. Heck yeah.
Kamado Tanjiro | Demon Slayer
Tumblr media
His basic demon slayer core design is so incredibly iconic. Each character in the main cast of Demon slayer has specific associations with colors, and green just really fits this character. The design takes who he was before joining the core (the green representing his relatively slow farm life) and who he's become after (The black being the same color as his blade). Another plus is a lot of the red relates back to his family and the reason he's fighting at all.
Alma | Gokurakugai
Tumblr media
Eufimia Montefiori | OC
Tumblr media
Eufimia is my own OC, and the design was made by my partner (adapted from an old design) !! It has a lot of story significance which I will shorten as much as possible Eufimia comes from a very poor home and works as a ghost hunter along with her sister, who is an exorcist. Eufimia was the one to start the business, and she runs it with the intention of getting lots of money from rich people so she can move herself and her sister out. ANYWAYS!! Her design is intended to display exactly how deceitful she is, if you know her lore. She dresses up in extremely fancy clothes and adorns herself with anything that looks expensive to come across as if she's trustworthy to the upper class. In reality, she's very shady but for a good reason (in her opinion). To emphasise the aspects of herself she hides, she hides her right eye due to an injury she sustained heavily damaging it. She's hidden this fact from everyone including her sister, due to the injury coming from someone who was willing to expose her shady business. Anyway erm. pretty vampirecore gf design
Snowball | Neko Atsume
Tumblr media
Luz Noceda | The Owl House
Tumblr media
Duo | Duolingo
Tumblr media
This one speaks for itself.
Wen Kexing | Faraway Wanderers/World of Honor
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
look he has some fantastic outfits with such a wide variety and yet they all so perfectly encompass his character? like he's got outfits for pretending to be a spoiled young master and he's got outfits for being an unhinged mass murderer and they all suit him so well. like he just has so many different outfits for so many different occasions and they're all such good outfits. he's got outfits for his housewife era and outfits for skinning someone alive and they're all good and fit his character well

You LOVE do give her affection, be it physical or words, your always cheering her on!!
Willow always gets hugs and kisses from you everyday, and she can't complain! She loves affection and words of affirmation!
Since Boscha and her friends usually pick on Willow, affirming her with kind words and cuddles always makes her feel so much better about herself!
You both are perfect for each other, so much Gus made a competition for "Who is the best 'ship'!" Let's just say it was Gus said that you were all the best, but the competition nearly ended in flames if it weren't for Luz and Y/N stopping all the fighting- (Amity and Willow were basically angry cats hissing and batting at each other-)
You even meet her dad's, Gilbert and Harvey Park! They were tough but very welcoming after they knew you were alright with their daughter :D
But a time skip to Kings tide, you managed to get to Willow bc gfs stick together and you went through the portal with her, and during your stay in the human realm, you still smothered her with cuddles, words, gifts and kisses but it felt like she wasn't as happy, like she was faking it, even with you, Luz, Amity, Gus or even hunter is was just different!!
Even when it was shown the Belos was in the human realm, Hunter being a grimwalker, Flap-Jack dying to protect Hunter, and facing the puppets when you got back to the human realm, and it finally all broke Willow when Boscha used sleeping nettles on all of you guys, when you and Hunter woke up, you saw vines on everything!! Willows magic was getting out of control... And when you heard her throw insults at herself, you gf instincts kicked in-
You raced to her and hugged her, as well as Hunter, you both comforted her and had her let it all out (Y/N and Hunter comfort duo-)

Halloween OC WIP
Tumblr media
Here’s a WIP of my main OCs in Halloween costumes
Hoping to get the coloring done by Halloween tomorrow but idk if that’s possible
Explanations of their outfits under the cut
Cassandra “Cass” Covey. Genderbent book-innacurate Frankenstein. Because 1) she doesn’t care for reading long novels and 2) her twin sister Grace does and she’s all about ticking off her nerdy sister. Plus, she’s a theatre kid and a cosplayer, and making green skin look gorgeous is the perfect challenge to rival her brilliant mind.
Andrea Anyakapor-Wright (it’s the teal ok but there’s no teal option on Tumblr). She’s more of a makeup girl than a costume one. I saw some Inspo on Pinterest (lmk if anyone wants me to link it) and miss girl is characterized by her colorful eyeshadow and different earrings every day. This glamorous look is so up her alley.
Lisa Rose Garcia. Luz Noceda, because 1) they’re both Colombian queer girls with a lovey lesbian gf, and 2) I really wanted to see Lisa cosplay as Luz. (Lisa’s a lesbian btw and so is her gf, Primrose. Here’s a bonus of Prim as Amity!)
Tumblr media
Sayaka Miyahira. She’s the tallest in the group, 15 and almost 6’, and I am in love with her nose shape. So I decided to have her cosplay as one of my favorite characters with a similar nose structure— Poison Ivy. Bc I’m pretty sure our plant queen is bisexual too, and I hc Poison Ivy to be one of Sayaka’s personal heroes. Now, she is autistic and creates tech out of her energy force fields (DON’T ASSUME OK I’M AUDHD SHE IS MORE FLESHED OUT THAN JUST TECH SMARTS) and I was thinking about having her cosplay as Donnie from RotTMNT (one of my if not my favorite autistic character out there) but purple is more Grace’s thing.
Grace Covey. Cass’s twin, sure she’s the more “nerdy” sister but she’s also the one ready to f*king deck you if you think a bad thought about her family. I wanted to have her cosplay as one of her hyperfixations, a book series called The Fair Mage Blue (a human girl named Bkur awakens trapped on the island chain Hera, which has been tormented by the giant Sildensnake for a hundred years. Only the Sildensnake’s poison can create portals between realms, so Blue teams up with Adaline, an old ex-Golden Islian who originally helped create the Sildensnake but then defected once she saw it’s dangers, and Emery, a Silver Isles prince who she detests at first who wants to learn more about Hera’s history.) Basically Grace would cosplay as Blue, and Hunter as Emery, but I didn’t have time to design their looks too. So Grace is Red Riding Hood.
Hunter Wing. He was going to be Emery at first, but again, little time, so he’s the Wolf. Some delicious irony with Grace, isn’t it? Idk much to San about him, except “no Cass, I am not a furry.”
Thanks for reading, lol, hopefully I’ll get a colored update soon. If not by Halloween, maybe within the week (she said hopefully and not believing any of it).

One more list of "What if the Owl house character's were pokemon trainers" #3
Okay so The Owl house was the first ever cartoon I did pokemon teams for. Month's ago I made two post's on it: one for notable back ground characters, and one for our main 5. I thoght about doing one for adults... but the adult character, except for Eda and Lilith, did not get a lot of chances to be explored all the way through. I wasn't sure how to do full teams with them, and ended up did not do any for the adults. earlier this week I was board and looking back at my list for notable back ground characters; and I noticed that I hadn't included Viney. Okay she didn't get the screen time she deserved, but she is a great character and I feel she at least deserves a four pokemon team (Like I gave the Edric and Emira). All that being said I do not feel Viney and a four pokemon team are enough for a stand alone post. So I decided to add Jerbo and give him three. It still was not enough. Okay, So I will do Viney and Jerbo's smaller teams then the full teams I thought of for the Clawthorne sisters. I have also been working on smaller teams for notable (if underdeveloped) adult characters, and if I see this one still do pretty well I will post a fourth post
The Owl Lady a.k.a (Eda)lyn Clawthorne
Tumblr media
Hoothoot: Represent's Owlbert. I mentioned it on Luz's team, saying how it's technically Eda's pokemon, Hoothoot is also close with Luz, and frequently joins Luz's team in an effort to help Eda watch over her.
Noctowl: This represents Hooty. Since it is now cannon that Post final pre epilouge Hooty moves out of the Owl house and in with Lilith I will say the sisters made a trade and Lilith gave Eda her an Omastar.
Cubone: This is to represent King. Everybody who knows both King anf pokemon knows that Dana and the crew already based King's design off of Cubone. So How could I not give Eda a Cubone? (Fun coinsidence Stanley Pines also has a Cubone on my GF list)
Gasty, Haunter, and Gangar: Okay so obviously Eda would have to have a cubone and a couple owls (Owl lady), but the obvious aside you cannot tell me that "Ghost type" would not be her favorite type. As far as ghost types go these three are and will always be the Kings. Their designs rock, all three are super powerful, they are clever. If that's not enough they're all three mischievous pranksters. If Eda were ever to have pokemon minions, those minions would be a Gastly, Haunter, and a Ganger.
Eda's team: Hoothoot, Noctowl (traded for a Omastar during Time skip), Cubone, Gastly, Haunter, Gangar.
Lilith (Lilly) Clawthorne
Tumblr media
Phantump and Trevenant: As soon as I decided to do Lilith I decided she should have three ghosts, like Eda did. At first I was gonna give her the licklit line since its also a trilogy but well they really are not that impressive looking, especially when compared to her sisters. In the end I when with the Phantump line. They are pretty cool looking. Are scary at first, but it turns out they just want friends, Kinda like Lilith... also they have a move unique to them called "forest Curse" (The show wanted the fans to forget come season 2, but we all remembered). Trevenant requires a trade to evolve, so I gave Steve a pokemon that did too, and am just saying that her and Steve did a quick trade and trade back.
Bannette: Here's one Lilith had to have due to her... deep-seated unresolved/partially resolved family issues/sister complex. (Another fun coincidence Stanford Pines also has a bannett on my GF list)
Murrkrow: This one is to represent her palisman Mike Socks. I picked it over a more similar colored bird because Murrkrow steal something it is bad to do, but are doing so to placate a higher up Honchkrow. This can represent Lilith's relationship with Belos and how he was able to manipulate her to do bad things.
Omanyte and Omaster: Lilith is a historian who absolutely loves history so she would want fossil pokemon, and being a part of the Emperor's coven likely had access to the means to revive a pair. I picked these two, well because they look similar to barnicles which Lilith canonically likes to make into crowns and wear on her head. For real though while this pair are smaller and not as colorful or powerful looking as the big Dino fossil pokemon, I could easily see Lilith easily loving them. As mentioned above Eda eventually comes around to see the pair as pretty cool too, and the sisters make a trade: Omastar for Noctowl. (Lilith seems to like to trading in this universe)
Lilith's Team: Phantump, Trevenant, Banette, Murrkrow, Omanyte, Omaster.

We seem to share similar interests! What’s your favorite character from each?
TMC canon: Adam Murray. I don't think I need to eelaborate (characters who are either dopplegangers of sleeper agents or both who get identity crises appeal to me.) but!! depending on the AU I also really like Mark and Cesar!
Amphibia: Darcy, full stop. I stole their gender
IHNMAIMS: there are like,, six characters total to chose from lmao. byeah I love AM. what a goofy, fucked up 'puter
GF: Stanley Pines !! I need him as my gruncle YESTERDAY
TOH: call me basic for liking the main character but Luz Noceda 100% (Vee is probably a close second?? I also like Hunter and Eda)
TGS: Dr. Henry Jekyll. he's got so many issues going on you gotta love his awful coping mechanisms
WoF: Glory my beloved
CoS: I mean. there aren't really characters in that but my favorite creatures are probably Lures
Iron Lung doesn't have characters either the game is just cool af
The Actual, Literal Bible: tie between Adam and Lucifer. they're both screwed up in like opposite directions but they're very closely connected if that makes sense
as for my other stories, I love all of those characters :D #1 out of all of them is probably Krae.he's so messed up and it takes a whole book for anyone to actually realize how messed up he is

Well, I should say at first, I used to ship them before starting s2a. I watched s1 then I forgot about it and then my friend started sending me his edits with Hunter and his relationship with Luz. I immediately fall in love with their relationship, but here all things which make me love them even more and why I think it would be better as a canon couple:
1. They make amazing parallels with Caleb and Evelyn's story. Not even to mention multipe background's parallels, their whole sorry is exactly the same:
Luz, as a wild witch comes from another world and steals Hunter (Caleb) from Philip. Both Luz and Evelyn show Hunter and Caleb the Wild magic and give them Flapjack. And, again, there actually multipe background's parallels. If you want so, you can read some analysis of it
(https://www.tumblr.com/dreams-are-paper-thin/698385932398804992/its-pretty-obvious-but-hear-me-out-so-caleb

https://www.tumblr.com/theprinceandthewitch/723113536030720000/i-still-think-toh-is-insane-for-heavily-implying
https://www.tumblr.com/stanlunter/734576972813959168/you-asked-me-to-write-about-lunters-parallels)
2. Luz was literally the first person who was nice to Hunter and who have shown him what normal teens are. She saw him as a friend, not an enemy and it touched him so much that he didn't attack her to take the palismans back, but he let her go, knowing he will be punished for it.
3. They understand each other better than anyone. Even tho they have completely different situations, they have the same issues with chosing their own futures what was shown in HP very well.
4. The HM lead to the fact that they literally could only trust each other. They were afraid of telling the truth to the ones they loved, but it only created the intimate situations between them where they can discuss such important things only with each other, not with their own partners. As someome for who trust in relationship is the main thing, to me this thing makes Lunter a much better a couple.
5. The thing is that around each other Luz and Hunter can act like kids with no issues, which means they can be themselves around each other without trying to look better, cooler or more serious or trying to impress each other, which Imo also makes all relationship better. Luz and Hunter aren't shy around each other, which means they aren't afraid of being rejected by each other and aren't nervous together and, like I said, they can be themselves with each other and act stupid without being afraid of being shamed. But that's basically about trust too.
6. The whole their arc just looks better in the plot. What I mean is that Amity and Lumity don't have any affect on the plot. Amity is just Luz's gf and that's all her role is being a cute gf. While with Hunter, for the plot is basically the second main character. He has everything to do with the story and he and Luz both have the strongest bond to the plot, the backstory and the whole story in general, which just makes this ship thousands times better.
7. They have a very cute and kinda untupical chemistry in general. The way they always tease each other just seems like they're trying to flirt with each other the whole time. As a fan of the ships like Talenny (Inspector gadget), Shadowclaw (Mlb), Caejose (Jojo), Jarose (DC) and a lot of others with the similar dynamics, there were no way for me not to enjoy Lunter as well lol
8. It's enemies to lovers. That's all. People love enemies to lovers, especially when they have dynamic like this.
9. Hunter is just potentiolly much more interesting than Amity. Amity's arc is like super typical and Amity doesn't have anything really interesting or original. While Hunter had a huge potential and was extremly interesting. So that's why I think he would be better as the mc's love interest. Bc, unlike Amity, he would be interesting not only as a love interest, but as a separated character too.
10. Luz and Hunter are actually equal what I mean is that, if in Huntlow and even Lumity there is a power imbalance, bc Amity and Willow are strong witches and Hunter with Luz are basically humans with little magic, which makes them weaker, than their canon partners. Actually, I don't have any problems with this with Lumity, but In Huntlow this issue is very highlighted, bc the screenwriters tries to make Hunter look as weak around Willow as they can (when Hunter is clearly a very Strong person, especially with the fact that he doesn't even have magic). Hunter is Willow's malewife and Willow is his girlboss. Which for me only spoils their relationship, but it's not about them anyways. While with Lunter... Hunter is Strong when he's with Luz and Luz is Strong when she's with Hunter. They don't cover each other. They make each other stronger. Hunter always saves Luz and Luz always saves Hunter. Hunter always supports Luz and Luz always supports Hunter. I like it.
Also, the whole "powerless witch" fits both Luz and Hunter much much better than it fits Hunter and Willow. Yeah, Willow just isn't a half each in any way bc she's strong af. Hunter is just literally a half witch with no powers. And Luz is someome who is technicaly a human, but she becomes a witch who has no power and still stand with it, which also can inspire Hunter.
So at this point they're very similar too and the, again, they really understand each other.
11. Hunter is canonicly Luz's type (the whole Nevarath's arc) and based on things Hunter have found in Willow, Luz would also fit Hunter's type.
That's probably all. If I remember smth else, Ill let you know.
The only thing I can add for now is that for me it's just very personal, bc I see my own perfect relationship in them and that's kinda what I dream of. As a Luz kinnue I have a person I love who's really similar to Hunter and even our whole relationship and extremly similar to me, but yeah, it's just my personal thing tho
Hey Lunter fans,
Talk to me... what made you ship Lunter? Was it a certain episode, or was it a post online? I wanna know your story.
Tumblr media
Special thanks to @darkcrowprincess and @thepinceandthewitch (whose account i think no longer exists?) for their posts, which helped me ship lunter :)

Wow.
Well.
A lot of that... was actually stuff we’d figured out before. Belos is Philip, Hunter’s a Grimwalker, Belos is still just a Puritan fuck-- but that doesn’t make it in the slightest less of a whammy of an episode. The way that all of it fell out was incredible, and the atmosphere was impeccable, ominous all the way through, steadily ramping up to absolute terror. The real impact was in watching these things be revealed to Luz and Hunter, both of whom were hit incredibly hard by it. Both of them, in one way or another, put their faith in someone who doesn’t deserve it-- and it was the same someone, just the past Philip or the present Belos. Both of them have been genuinely shaken.
Even though she knew he was an asshole, Luz was still exploring Philip’s diary as her main source of information on how to get home. He was her greatest hope for seeing her mother again, and he’s just a pack of Puritan, xenophobic, genocidal lies. She’s down to her last drops of Titan blood now, too, and knowing Luz she’s probably going to beat herself up over Hunter leaving, too.
And Hunter... poor kid. Discovering the Emperor you’ve been working for your whole life is... everything I described him as above? That you’ve been the right-hand-man of a tyrant? That would hurt enough already even without being told you’re a creation, disposable, that the uncle you owed your life to has destroyed copy upon copy of you for realizing the same things you’re realizing now. As bad of a decision for his personal health and safety as it is for him to run away from the Owl House, I entirely understand him running scared-- all I can really hope for at this point is that Raine, Darius, and Eber stuck around to watch the light flash to make sure the kids got out safe and Hunter will run straight into Darius’s arms.
He left the cape on Eda’s floor, so Luz does have the opportunity to recognize the crest of her hometown. Now that she knows Philip came from the Human realm, I guess it won’t be a massive shock he’s from Gravesfield specifically, but still. I’ve been expecting her to try and get into contact with her mum again, but she definitely doesn’t have the Titan’s Blood to spare on another window-door.
The Collector is... kind of exactly what I expected and kind of not? They’re delightfully creepy, perfect eerie child, just wants destruction to admire and to play with. I’m a sucker for characters that are stylized significantly differently from the rest of the show to emphasize that they’re out of continuity? I’m thinking of Bill from GF, or Luci from Disenchantment.
Raine trying to help without letting Eda know it was them... come on, bud. Raine. Sweetie. Your ex/beloved/futurewife wants to help. She is already involved.
Wow.
Just... wow.

I’ve been seeing a lot about the owl house season two on my dash and thought it could be fun to share what i think happened in the season as someone who has never seen it before.
Ok so there’s this blonde dude hunter who looks like he’s one of the main characters. He had a younger brother and for some reason in the past the little bro was all like “fuck you” and stabbed him. Somehow??? The little bro went all evil mastermind and repeatedly reincarnated hunter to be his guard thingy.
So hunter is like this witch hunter dude and he meets luz. I have no clue how we get there but they team up and luz is introduced to brother dearest.
idk the specifics but luz has a Big Regret Moment (i think someone died??) and now she’s like lowkey unstable. (Off topic but what happened to luz’s gf? The one with like pink/blue hair? I haven’t seen much of her recently and I’m kinda worried)
Well it’s not much and probably inaccurate but I hope you enjoy my cluelessness lmao

i’m actually like Very Upset that my excitement for new episodes is starting to get watered down by the anxiety of hunt/low becoming canon. it genuinely sucks so bad. i absolutely hate when shows try to force in (especially m/f) ships way too late into both the character’s development and the show’s actual lifespan. we literally DO NOT HAVE the time to do ship stuff between anyone other than luz/amity and raine/eda, because their stories have been intertwined for so much longer that it’s inherent to the actual plot!!! if they actually try to go through with it when they only have 5 episodes left, it’s going to be somehow Even Worse than if they dedicated entire episodes to a romantic relationship
hi you’re like the only other person i know who hates that ship as much as me LOL so just let me know if you want me to stop anonymously complaining but. god. wow i despise it.
NO NO NEVER STOP ANONYMOUSLY COMPLAINING ILY I ADORE UR ANONS.
But seriously same, it’s been happening to me the past few eps to the point of my gf telling me to like just completely block TOH tag for a bit bc i get so worked up anxious over it. It really REALLY fucking sucks because toh is big time special interest rn and very personal to me. So being distressed abt new episodes really fucking sucks. I feel the same way about forced in ships (especially het ones) and it’s very out of left field for the shows whole vibe. Especially when way back before lumity was even hunter as Dana said she wasn’t all the interested in writing romance in general. (Other than the main ones you mentioned.)
Tumblr media
(From Dana’s ama after season 1)
And yeah. When ppl get mad about lumity or whatever it’s just. Exactly what you said. It’s PART of the story & plot. It’s NECESSARY to properly tell the story of these characters. When we only have 5 actual episodes left and more story to crunch in it would be a disservice to toh itself to cram that in. It wouldn’t fit and it wouldn’t make sense. It also would do a disservice to Willow’s character arc imo too. We’ve seen her go from a shy, bullied kid in the wrong track at hexside to being totally confident and a badass who sticks up for herself and her friends. And she did it all for HERSELF. It would make it cheap to tie that off with a romantic relationship. Same for Hunter, i.e. his storyline being very much about self discovery in a very different way. Finding out your history, who you are, and having to come to terms with that. Along with coming to the realization that you’ve been abused your whole life and now you get to take control back for yourself and maybe help save the world from your abuser in the process. And not to mention the part of his storyline that is just learning how to be a person, opening up to people, and discovering what it feels like to have people there for you at all. I have a lot of strong feelings abt Hunter’s storyline and I’d just be really REALLY devastated if they threw romance in.

I think Luz's morality is an interesting topic. The more i think about it, the worse she seems.
She befriended Amity, after knowing the kind of things she did to people like Willow, which is fine. But, then she has the gall to try and FORCE Willow to become friends with Amity, even after she explicitly told her not too, and Luz should KNOW that. If your friend tried to make you befriend your biggest bully, youd be pretty pissed.
Luz is also rather selfish here, she treats looking into Willows memories as a theme park, for the 'bAcKsTORY'. The writers kind of have Amity call her out, but its framed as Amity being in the wrong. To be generous, maybe its solely good intention? but when you consider she gets with Amity, and how she uses Willow being bullied in wing it to essentially have her Azura sports fantasy, it... seems less so.
Also, youre right that Luz lies ALOT in the show. like JESUS. and its unforgiveable in FTF, your gf TOLD YOU TO STOP. It just makes Luz look self absorbed and apathetic to other peoples struggles and feelings, especially when shes having a pity party over 'hElPinG BeLoS' when there are people who arent sure if their FAMILIES ARE ALIVE WITH HER.
So... the short answer to this ask is that protagonist morality in general isn't nearly as 'pure good' as people like to make them out to be, they're usually more Lawful Neutral... But even compared to that, Luz is kind of a bad person and the longer the series has gone on, the worse that has gotten.
But let's first talk about protagonist morality in general. See, we all think "Main Protagonist and Paragon are the same thing!" No. Absolutely fucking not. I actually don't get where this opinion comes from, especially since even a cursory glance at most shows will have you going "Boy the main character is tempted to evil easily."
Because really, how many main characters don't fuck up all the time? Most plots in an episodic format either start with a fuck up by the main character or screwing up is used as a way to escalate things. This is often motivated by either trying to do the right thing, their own goals that can conflict with their morality or... Just being used for the morality play of the episode.
Now there is an easy saving grace to this: Main characters are meant to learn from these moments and they go fix the mistake. In theory, it shows their good heart and lets them grow as a character. There's a reason people get annoyed when a character has to go through the same lesson over and over again after all or do just ignore their mistakes and not suffer the consequences or put in the work to fix it and thus not deserve the consequences.
Which... Brings me to Luz. And her lying. NOW, I will actually admit that this is mostly a Season 2 B thing. I went back through the episodes and while her motivations are questionable (if you only ever work for forgiveness and never do random acts of kindness, your kindness comes into question) she actually isn't lying constantly or in a way that doesn't fit just being used in a minor way to help the episode... Minus the big one obviously.
Which is where I have to give credit to the show for making it so that her lie to a mother IS a white lie. It actually doesn't paint her as a bad person. Should she be lying? That's a philosophical debate for people but she was going to be gone regardless and so for her mother, the experience isn't that different. The only real problem is that when Luz is asked if she made friends, she has to say "Yes, but we aren't going to be able to keep in touch."
And then that lie gets complicated... And then devastating. And that's not the first lie in S2 that has hurt someone she supposedly cares about. It happened first with King. Her lying that he believed her was genuinely devastating for him. And her lying to her mother did the same thing.
So that's two already.
Then we get Falls and Follies where she straight up promises to STOP KEEPING SECRETS. Because her secrets, which classify as lies of omission, especially if asked directly about said thing, hurt Amity. Her girlfriend.
So she has now emotionally hurt and theoretically felt bad from hurting her found brother, her actual mom and her girlfriend. And now she has made a promise to stop.
Now, I actually want to address something here. One person tried to make a case "Oh, you can't actually keep that promise on Luz. What was she supposed to do? Tell every secret she's learned in her life, even other people's?" No. And don't pull that strawman shit with me. The point was going forward. That's what matters with promises.
Sorry means NOTHING without action. Because words are easy. Actions are what matters.
So... Then we get Reaching Out where she obliterates that promise... And suffers no consequences. In fact, the episode paints it as we should be sympathetic with her and forgive her for the lie she kept. You can feel bad for someone and still condemn what they did but the episode absolutely doesn't.
So that's FOUR EPISODES, within 15 episodes, so almost a third of that time, has been dedicated to "LUZ. STOP. LYING."
But we're not done yet. No... No we've got one more.
There is the multiple months long lie of omissions of A: I helped Belos and the Collector accidentally and B: I am not going back to the Isles. The first one is... Well it's dumb and it gets non-resolved because no one gives a shit which thank god because, again, it's dumb.
The second one though. This one is used... Because the writers know Luz is going back. So they never think about this one and still include a moment like Amity quoting Luz back at her. "I don't know what my future will hold, but I'm happy you'll be a part of it."
And Luz says nothing. That is one of the biggest moments of lying by omission you can make because by saying nothing... You're agreeing with her. You're letting her keep that belief despite knowing it's wrong.
Yes, she has her excuses but what happens to Luz, compared to what happens to others with this lie and action.
For Luz... At worst she has to live with the guilt and question of 'What happened to those I loved?" Despite, you know, reasonably being able to believe they're just going to die. Or that they're dead already. And she'll spend the rest of her days (generously) trying to forget that she ever went to Isles. This genuinely the kindest way I can put this.
Because for Amity... It means that she only gets to find out that the person she probably thinks is her soulmate dumped her when the portal closes. That she is entirely alone and was lied to and betrayed by the person she trusted most.
And the rest? Well, they had been planning on Luz being there. On being able to use her strength and her connections. Their plan is now compromised, they're weaker as a unit and they also have to deal with the betrayal now that they're in a land that seems like home but also not and is far more dangerous than they're theoretically used to.
Luz has condemned ALL OF THEM to death.
And what did she do before this? Oh... you know, go on dates, have fun with her friends, be willing to be by their side without saying a single. Fucking. Word. The pictures prove it. I mean... How do you do a milkshake date with your girlfriend, your supposed 'cotton candy haired goddess' while knowing your time is limited and you're going to do what in most romance stories is considered to be the literal worst thing you can to your partner? Except maybe cheat on them? MAYBE.
It is GENUINELY reprehensible. Especially since Luz DOES blame herself for this. She breaks protagonist morality here though by deciding "Nope. I don't know how to fix it and I might make it worse so fuck it. Let it all burn."
Because even if that's not what is said, even if that is not explicitly Luz's intention... It's what she does. Period. She doesn't say "Guys, I'll sit back, let you make the decisions because I don't trust myself anymore." No, instead she makes a HUGE decision, all by herself, with no input, despite her choices hurting people being what she is CLAIMING to be the problem (even though she hasn't even thought about her GIRLFRIEND'S feelings in this).
And there's a LOT of contradictions like this with Luz where what she says and what she does... Just doesn't match. At all.
But this has gone on long enough. I hope I made my point clear just hoe fucking awful these lies make Luz out to be. And how at some point it goes from being "A deep flaw the character needs to work on," to "they're just a bad person."
