Damian: "Grayson, what are you staring at?"
Dick: "Sh!"
Tim: "Leave him be, D. He's emotional."
Damian: "Over what?"
Dick, staring at the two quiet figures in front of them: "Would you believe that? Jason and Bruce existing in the same space and not throwing a tantrum, but actually behaving like two adults? They're even working together at the same desk. Unbelievable."
Damian: "Wait, has father just ruffled Todd's hair?"
Dick: "And he didnā€™t even punched him back! I'm so proud of how far they both have come. *sniff* Now we could all be one happy family."
Damiam: *looking absolutely bewildered, gazing up at Tim who just shrugs*
Tim: "Give them 15 minutes."
Damian: "12."
---
Jason: "Bruce. Bruce WHERE IS MY PEN?"
Bruce: "Y-your pen, Jason?"
Jason: "Oh my god. You don't even remember it. My pen, Bruce. My personalized red and golden Montblanc you gifted me for my 14th birthday. I left it here, where is it? You threw it away, didn't you? LIKE YOU DID WITH ANY REGARD YOU EVER HAD FOR ME AND MY FEELINGS? DID YOU FORGET I WAS YOUR SON TOO? WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR YOU TO LOVE ME?"
Dick: "Damn! We got so close."
Tim: "And that'd be 10 minutes and 35 seconds."
Damian: "-TT- Pay up, Drake."

i vote that next year instead of reading Dracula we do a Jeeves & Wooster Book Club. those two never got the rabid tumblr shipping fandom they deserved (disqualified for the sheer technicality of being published a century too soon). we must correct this injustice

I know a lot of people don't like that Merlin is the one who helped Arthur pull the sword from the stone but I honestly feel it worked so perfectly in this universe. The fact that Arthur could not have pulled the sword from the stone without magic is so thematically in tune with how Merlin is behind him every step of the way, helping him build this new Camelot together. The fact that they work best as one ā€” Merlin making up this story and using his magic to make the story come to life, and Arthur being the figurehead who the people want to follow and believe in, the one who cares and is willing to fight for the citizens of Camelot.
This isn't the story of Albion. It's Merlin and Arthur's story, about how THEY came together. They are two sides of the same coin, they are each other's destinies and one does not work without the other. It needed to be BOTH of them pulling the sword from the stone

I feel like something that should have been explored more in Arcane is that despite the dangers and pretty much horrific conditions, Zaun children seemingly grow up a lot more caring and have a larger understanding of family in comparison to Piltover children. And if such a reflection of the real world in a sense.
The kids of Zaun seemingly grow up with a lot more adult support. Ekko is easily welcomed under Benzoā€™s wings. Vander adopts 4 kids (two of which we learn he knew of before their parents death, two of which we canā€™t be sure of). Silco, despite all what happened, and his ulterior motives, shows no problem adopting Powder/Jinx. In the alternate universe it seems as though heā€™s still played a part in the kids lives. Jinx adopts Isha easily and Sevika cares for her as well. Hell, even Mr. War Crimes Against Humanity does well with little Viktor (until ya know, the animal abuse).
Hell, up until Vander dies (the first time) there seems to be a large understanding of if thereā€™s an orphan or a kid in need of guidance, take them in! (And certainly donā€™t inform them of your plans to turn a giant pink salamander into drugs and be confused when a nine year old doesnā€™t understand). If a kid wants to be your apprentice, let them! For the most part, until things all went wrong in the end of act 1 of season 1, the worst parts of Zaun seem pretty typical for any city in poverty.
Match that with what we see with how Caitlyn and Jayce grow up. Caitlyn is given adult support, yes, and itā€™s clearly a good adult mentor, but itā€™s not entirely by her choice. Itā€™s been chosen for her. Sheā€™s safe, but thereā€™s a lack of freedom of choice. Meanwhile, when Jayce gets older, and that same accident in Act 1 happens, the family that supported him and his mom turns their backs. His own mom doesnā€™t support him either, because sheā€™s afraid of what heā€™s talking about, but also because heā€™s damming them to being outcasts.
Conversely, Vander is more than willing to take the fall for what Claggor, Milo, Vi and Powder did. Heā€™s willing to go to prison for a long time, in order for them to have a better future. Despite Viā€™s best efforts, heā€™s not going to listen to her (she is just a kid) and heā€™s not letting his family go down and get hurt.
Meanwhile, a man who grew up in this mentality, where thereā€™s a wide sense of family support from people who arenā€™t your biological family, is the one to go to Jayce, a stranger, and tells him he believes in him. Itā€™s why itā€™s such a shock to Jayce; his own family and family friends denied him. They didnā€™t support him.
I think thatā€™s what makes all the difference. Piltover and Zaun have wildly different understandings of family and forgiveness. For Piltover, it shuns and damns the lives of those who upset the balance. For Zaun, it provides safety and never ending understanding.
Just. Iā€™m thinking.

The thing is I don't believe Miles Edgeworth would ever say "I love you" to Nick, and I don't think he would reach out to hold him. But I do think the moment he hears about what's going on with Trucy he would show up at Nick's door with a stack of documentation on adoption and sit down with him for hours as they wade through the legal process to gain custody. One step at a time, you are not alone in this, we'll figure this out together. Acts of service my beloved... Let me ease your burden by taking it on. I love you and want you to be well.

The fact that Jinx killed Silco, or that he was specifically killed at all, is so irrelevant to s2 (for everyone including Sevika) is so weird to me. If I never watched Arcane and randomly started from s2, or if some marathon came on and I made it to the start of s2, I wouldn't even remember that Jinx killed him.
To be fair, Jinx did straight up tell Smeech and they included Silco's death in that awkward black and white clip show recap of silco in s1, but it's just so completely inconsequential to the plot. Actually, it's also a bit confusing because despite knowing Silco's dead, Caitlyn still lists one of her objectives as neutralizing "agents still loyal to Silco". Do these supposed loyal "agents" even know he's dead? Do they know Jinx killed him? Why didn't Caitlyn mention any of this to the general public?
Tldr: In s2 it's easy to forget that Jinx killed Silco because it doesn't matter to anyone, not her allies or enemies. If I was a casual viewer, like I watched it s1 during the premiere and came back post-hiatus to watch s2 without a rewatch and you quizzed about how Silco died, I'd probably get that answer wrong.

I love how people are only ever interested in defending Arya's right to be weird-looking. It's never defending her intelligence from people who claim she's incapable of thinking for herself, highlighting her importance to the plot and refusing to see her as just a prop, acknowledging how much of her story gets stolen and given to other characters, talking about her trauma or how often it gets erased and overlooked, seeing her as more than just an attack dog/bodyguard, etc. Nope. It's just a "why can't people let Arya be ugly/unconventional looking? :(" post every other week because people are, for whatever reason, obsessed with how Arya is visually perceived. One of the most misinterpreted characters yet the issue is only ever with her being portrayed as "too pretty" or the wrong "type" of pretty. This fandom will entirely rewrite a character's motivations, values, and role in the story to the point that they consider references to canon "hate" but! The true injustice to canon is we acknowledge that she is described as pretty several times. Arya simply existing as her pretty, important, and non-conforming self is too complex and confusing for people to comprehend šŸ˜”.
#arya stark#asoiaf#fandom nonsense#how can Arya be considered pretty?! she's literally non-conforming?? being pretty belongs to /feminine/ female characters...right? šŸ˜±#I feel like these people tell on themselves with how much they value beauty because they make it /such/ a big deal#when her self-esteem issues regarding being a lady are infinitely more relevant to her story (and more interesting to discuss)#her being mocked for having the Stark look is a supporting story element that also reinforces her being an outcast considering#her mother + all of her trueborn siblings have a southern look and she was raised with southern standards#not to mention her non-conformity and often messy appearance heavily impacted how her looks were perceived#George writes Arya's non-conformity as parallel to traditional femininity so it makes sense that beauty is one of those aspects he subverts#(also why it makes sense that her future includes accepting her identity as a Lady while redefining the role but that's off topic)#this is why you need to look at the writing instead of judging based on the /type/ of character you think Arya is#and! it's truly not that serious šŸ˜ I'm sure it will be a plot point eventually but it's not 98% of her story like these people pretend#Arya is such an interesting + well-written character but we constantly get people rewriting her and nonsense discourse around her looks#such rich material and all you can say is that she's an /odd-looking feral gremlin/ and I'm supposed to take your opinion seriously#at this point the obsession with Arya being /weird/ looking has to be some projection of personal self-esteem issues#there's no way /this/ is the hill you're willing to die on with all the terrible takes about Arya from this fandom#wish people who didn't care about her would just stop bringing her up so we could have our discussions about her in peace

it's like, i really do enjoy most of the bats as characters and i really do like a lot of their comics. but also i am sooooo tired of them being hailed as better than literally everyone else. both in fanon but also in comics (modern ones are esp egregious imo, like WHAT was that shit about batman and the joker being the most dangerous men on the planet. hi. have you heard of lanterns? speedsters? supers? actually if i keep listing groups who could kick batman's ass we'd be here all day). they're like kudzu. that shit needs to stay in its native environment (funky little neo-noir detective stories) and stop being an invasive species (putting down everyone else to make them seem cooler). put bruce wayne back into a murder mystery setting that isn't about saving the world but is about saving one person or one family that no one else would've saved right now or so help me god. the whole invasive species cross contamination thing is unhealthy for both him And the other ecosystems he keeps getting transplanted into. please. it's so dark in here

You know, judging by how fast Wen Qing caved on Wen Ning's showing up in Yiling with wwx and jc, even though she was real mad about it, I bet he has been doing this to her for years.
Probably started by bringing her injured animals to doctor on as a kid. Later on, not necessarily a lot later, he started dragging in bullied disciples to patch up and hide from Wen Xu or somebody, and then probably he'd just kind of...fold a lot of them into his canonical personal retinue of loyal subordinates, however that worked exactly.
Wet kitten Wen Ning constantly dragging smaller wetter kittens back to his big sister to protect. She has tried all the arguments already. She knows there's no budging him.
Also lmaoooo hang on, Wen Ning had Wen Qing outnumbered a lot of the time, didn't he. She didn't have personal minions she could trust like that. These people just extracted a high-status prisoner from the custody of an erratic and violent superior pursuing a personal grudge without blinking, for their Wen-gongzi.
Wen Ning's ability to get up to shenanigans due to all the pathetic life-forms she'd allowed him to accumulate must have dawned on her with belated horror.
