Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.
For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.
And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.
I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.

keep switching between joyous whimsy and going catatonic over jason in the boy wonder. like on one hand he is so wet cat in this. like i need to pick him up by the scruff of his neck and put him in direct sunlight. he's adorable i love him. on the other hand... he looks like he's fucking drowning in that helmet, it looks like the world is baring down on him, he looks so so tired, this man is the physical embodiment of depression idk how to describe it.
the boy wonder #2 (2024)
i feel like his helmet is going to literally tip him over. like it looks like it's too big and heavy for him, like it doesn't fit, like it's a weight on his shoulders (both physically and metaphorically. most normal well adjusted man in the world decides to name his vigilante identity after the bitch who killed him)
the boy wonder #2 (2024)
he just looks really sad and scared and tired, his body language is not confident at all (he's often leaning forward and his hands are frequently in his pockets) compared to what we see in the imagined version of him from issue 1. i haven't read a lot of jason stuff, but just compared to the UTRH film and the lost days this is a very different jason even just in terms of body language. it almost reminds me of how he was before the pit in lost days
red hood: the lost days #1 (2010)
and not at all like he is in issue #1 of the boy wonder or from issue #2 and onward of the lost days or from the utrh film
the boy wonder #1 (2024), batman: under the red hood (2011), red hood: the lost days #2 (2010)
he does have instances where he looks confident such as the image below, but these all seem to occur when around damian, not when he's by himself.
the boy wonder #2 (2024)
last thing is that i think it's really interesting that his response to the joker is so different here than it was in utrh (if anyone has suggestions for a comic where jason faces off against the joker or otherwise interacts with him PLEASE let me know i would love to read it and see how it compares). in utrh he's kicking him around, and responds mostly with rage, whereas here he's completely paralyzed by fear at the sight of the hallucination, i love how the nature of comic franchises lets us see various different interpretations of characters.
the boy wonder #2 (2024)
i don't really have much else to say... as i mentioned i'm not really a jason guy so i have no grand conclusions, but i am interested to see where this goes (if he shows up again idk). this seems like a significantly more subdued version of jason, and i think thats a fascinating interpretation. usually when i see jason as hood he looks very confident in it and like it fits him, he's big and strong and the helmet is also big and strong, whereas here it feels like he's hiding behind it or like it's dragging him down.

As a Gévaudan Lycan, June’s design is supposed to give off an unknowable and melancholy energy.
Gévaudan Lycans are mimics, and their emotions alter their form, especially if they have little to no control of themselves when they shift.
The way June was changed into a lycan and her experience during first shift were extremely traumatic, and over time, her lycan form reflected her feelings of loss and self-loathing. She fronts as this charming and confident woman, while holding back her deeper emotions that eventually leached into the form that reflects her true self.
Fear, sadness, loss, and rage all mixed into this one entity she cannot control. Once a month, she's forced into facing all of those emotions, reliving that trauma again and again for nearly 30 years.

*E1-3 of Season 2*
Me: oh wow they're really giving Ed a dark villain arc! I love it! Of course, this means we will get a glorious redemption arc throughout the rest of the season where he does his best to make amends with Izzy and the crew, who he was explicitly shown to torture and traumatise <3
*After Ed's canonically-acknowledged-as-incredibly-shitty apology to the crew*
Me: Right, well that is obviously the moment where he changes and starts developing as a character! We're going to get a lot of growth this season; I can feel it. He's going to figure out that this isn't about him, it's about the people he hurt. He's going to actually improve as a person, in such a way that he starts to respect and care for his crew in a way he's never been shown to in the past! What an awesome arc! Yay!
*Season finale*
