super low stakes. typically i Always tip for these kinds of services but i went to this new techs house for the first time and it was just like, kind of a weird experience nothing crazy though. when i walked in her apt smelled really strongly of cat which on one hand totally understand like Its Your House but also like it wasnt like, regular part and parcel cat smell of just having an animal it was pretty noticeably strong.

First of all, the mystery was just bad. I'm sorry. An owl? Swooping in at night for dead animals and leaving perfect scores in the dirt? It felt like a real "running out of ideas" type plot.

Brightheart was NOT fun to follow. She was uncomfortable for most of the story and secondhand embarassment is an emotion I really don't enjoy. Even moments that were supposed to be thought-provoking (like the Brambleclaw name confrontation) just felt like cringe because they were written so poorly.

Like, seriously? "Firestar why did you name Bramble after his father who disfigured me?" "Oh its because i uhhhh wanted to remind ppl of it so they would stop being reminded of it eventually" WHAT? That was a brainless enough choice when it was FIRST made, you can't fucking tell me any cat with a brain cell would go "wao... really makes you think... hngsociety"

I disliked the fact they decided to give Brightheart serious suspicion towards people like Longtail and Brambleclaw, I strongly disagree she would be like that. She feels so much to me like someone who would feel awful for doubting people she logically knows are innocent, and express to Cloudtail that it makes her feel like a bad person, but she CANT help it. She is such a kind, loving, and self doubting sort of cat... or, was, I guess? Or maybe it was never there at all and I'm the fool.

On that note? Her character arc was a mess. As much as I hate Shadow in RiverClan, I can say that Feathertail's arc was a competent *story*. Brightheart is having nightmares, suspects Bramble and Long of treason, is trying to figure out this mystery, trying to help train Rainpaw, the fact she resents not being his mentor is mentioned and dropped, she is pregnant... so much shit is going on and it feels absolutely unfocused.

And even worse, because it's overlapping with the beginning of Firestar's Quest, we end up having to Show Off The Continuity instead of telling a cohesive story. Oop Willowpelt died and Rainpaw is kind of sad about it! But wait we have to say bye to Firestar, make sure to squeeze in the Brambleclaw name confrontation before he goes! GO BACK Longtail has been blinded!! ALSO THE OWL! HERES WHY THE OWL WASNT MENTIONED IN FQ!!

And DUDE if there's anything that's a SERIOUS problem, it's Brightheart's stupid ass cutesy "look who's being USEFUL in here!" When blinded Longtail is helping out in the medcat den

First of all fuck you for the wording of that line! Second of all, GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD that disabled people shouldn't have to find a way to be "useful" to belong to their society.

The fact we're getting a book from Bright's perspective as a disabled person and the whole thing is chock full of "useful" language as she struggles with PTSD makes the fact this is COMMON in WC sting so much more.

Anyway back to just, normal critique and not frustration with ableism in wc.

I feel like they really wasted Brightheart's family. I enjoyed finally getting Cinder and Bright hanging out as sisters, but we got a MENTION of Frostfur, and barely anything with her brothers. It's already a mess so why not go the whole way?

Ashfur also has his post-TBC personality retcon which absolutely kills me. Why do we need this shitty "foreshadowing"? Why do we need him to have been so obviously controlling and argumentative? Why are these writers fucking allergic to having a villain that people thought was nice and normal once?

NITPICK: if i have to see another cat gently picked up by a large bird of prey without at LEAST getting a cracked rib I will shapeshift into 10,000 crows and fly away forever

Uhhh this is a bit of a backhanded compliment but I liked how she was upset at not getting one of Whitestorm's children to mentor? I don't like how it bodes for the wider narrative though, because we know this ends in her getting shafted FOR YEARS and unable to get an apprentice. But I liked the plot setup of her having resentment for Cloudtail because of this. I thought that would make a really good plot point for putting a wedge between them to work through. Like, stop being cowards, LEAN INTO Firestar making some very serious, insulting, short-sighted mistakes, and it interfering with Brightheart's ability to heal. Kill your darling.

There were some nice lines. I do remember Ashfur's lame "greedyclaw" insult, which was funny.

I enjoyed the cute moments between the cats in ThunderClan. Ferncloud chasing after her kids, Brightheart convincing people to help her investigate, the Willowkin being upset about their mom. It's a mess but there's some nice stuff in that mess, y'know?

Overall, my memory hasn't been kind to it. I think I was giving it a 6/10 when I first saw it, but it's dropped down to a low 5/10. Not (very) offensive but too messy and pointless to revisit.

SINS REDESIGN WIP

THIS IS ALL A WIP SO NONE OF THIS IS SET IN STONE, PLEASE BE KIND.

since in my rewrites Lucifer created them, they'd each have another half. So for Sloth its her sister Envy, for Wrath its Gluttony and Greed, and for Pride [Lucifer] it will be Lust.

Sloth- i made her a Goat Snake and twins with another Sin. Sloth smokes nonstop through her gas mask, she doesnt move much and she's fine with that. her outfit is like a spiderweb, hinting to how when something doesnt move it begins to have cobwebs surround them. i imagine Sloth will be quite dusty all the time and never really get the spiders off her. I think she'd be a rather impatient person, which would be quite the opposite to her

Envy- Where Sloth is impatient, Envy is very patient. She is a snake goat, having more goat like features than her sister. She is more of a corporate type, like Greed, she doesnt take nonsense from no one and is quite self assured. Her main flaws are her sin and relationship with Sloth, she gets quite jealous and petty towards others, especially when Sloth isn't doing anything, which is often.

Envy believes they have a shot into Heaven, if she pull the right strings and look for the loopholes. [i loosely based her off a lawyer]

Greed- A Cyclops Lion, [my favorite of my redesigns honestly] They are a Genderfluid Sin, Greed is very wishy-washy about their emotions. One minute they are chill counting coins the next they're mane is fire, hearing their quota wasnt met.

Greed is honestly the more level headed of the bunch, They are the one in charge of setting up meetings, keeping track of finances, and such, in Hell. If something needs to be filed or recorded, it goes through Greed. Greed is in charge of most businesses in Hell.

Wrath- Is a spry young Bull Lion with more demon features than animal. I wanted Wrath to look more like a demon than the rest for story reasons. Wrath constantly bugs Sloth, as a lil bother should. Wrath sees Sloth as his real sister rather than Gluttony and Greed. He gets along better with her. Wrath is a punkish kid, likes to get into trouble and have fun, often getting trouble due to his temper.

Gluttony- the one i worked the least on. Gluttony likes to over indulge..in everything, media, clothes, knickknacks, food and ofc gambling. Poor Glut has a gambling problem, he is constantly trying to buy more things to hoard. He wants everything. Even if it means taking other peoples money or even sneak some from Greed's stash, Gluttony doesnt see an issue with his actions, he is constantly getting his siblings gifts, so who is it really hurting right?

PLANS:

So i still need to draw Lucifer and Lust. My idea is having Lust be Lucifer's mistress. Something or Someone Lucifer created when he was lonely as an Angel. Something that was found and cast out when he was.

So, I've seen an equal number of posts praising and critiquing the Minster High finale, and I wanted to toss my two cents in.

I think some things didn't make sense, but I did have fun watching it, so overall, it was alright.

I thinks it's fine that the shape-shifter has to do community service and detention, it was a nice gesture that Clawdeen gave away the Moonclaw, and with Wiskerene saving the kids, it makes sense she became were-ruler. No teen should be the wereruler and the Whiskerwomen had the most screen time out of the other adult candidates. These things are fine.

However, I think they're were too many werewolves as candidates. Romulous' reasoning for entering was for werewolves to be on top, but Clawdeen's mom was in the race and so his reasoning didnt make sense. He should have joined the race after her mom dropped out, and her mom should have dropped out sooner.

Whiskerene and Whiskerbeth should have been animals other than wolves, or make one a wolf and one a cat. With the twist the shape-shifter is a were-creature, they should have expanded on what animals are were-creatures and the whisker-women would have been a great opportunity to do that. Their names done even have to change! They could have been seals, walruses, cats, badgers, otters, chinchillas, or squirrels to name a few! Hell! If they were a prey species it would make sense why they were never able to become wereruler before! They were never able to outright a wolf or a cat! And it would be far more interesting it a species other than a werecat or a werewolf won the election!

No onto the shapeshifter. Why was he a whale? And why did he turn into a bear? And when he got his shifting powers, wouldn't he have gotten his own human form? Cause it seems like that's how that works for other were-species. I was hoping his humanoid form would still be like a teal whale. This part makes no sense.

Last thing, Lagoon wasn't filming a documentary, she was live streaming! Steaming would make sense for her as a sea monster, cause water pun. But also, if she wasnt live streaming, how did everyone see Whiskerene save the kids??? Her documentary shouldn't have influenced the vote because making a documentary takes time and requires editing, which Lagoona seemed to do none of! If they had said she was live streaming the election, I wouldn't have a problem with this.

So yeah, those are my thoughts on Monster High.

The systematic oppression of the undercity under topside rule. That shit should not have fucking vanished bc Jayce and Hextech and Silco never happened. Vi and Powder's parents still got fucking murdered by Piltover police when the undercity staged their riot. Heimer's alt self only arrived 3 years ago, and we know that the undercity was in a similar same state in canon 10 years ago.

You're telling me that if the undercity - without anyone agitating for change, if they just sat quietly and patiently, then topside would have actually done their due diligence and improved their living conditions without any prodding from the undercity. That the uninhabitable environment of the undercity was not in fact routine negligence or outright contempt, but just an accident - that topside just somehow couldnt make their lives better from the jump - there were vague reasons the people in the undercity were so miserable.

There was truly nothing he could do or was doing to IMPROVE THEIR LIVES. Which Vi got pissed off about. THATS WHY THEY WENT ON THE JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! Bc Vi thought that Vander was an ineffective cuck - as in literally watching topside screw them over and all he could do was keep the worst of the oppression at bay

And hey. Vander offered comfort and stability which the undercity desperately needed. But you know, the undercity wouldnt have needed Vander in the first place if *checks notes* topside wasnt constantly using them like a dumpster, exploiting them for cheap labor, and ignoring their very obvious and very palpable problems.

ALL OF THAT PREDATES SILCO, JAYCE, AND HEXTECH

And Act 2 Ep 7 tells me that actually if those three were just not causing trouble, the undercity would MAGICALLY become better, without anyone kicking up a fuss and protesting to topside

Yeah we dont really have the full picture of this timeline. And maybe someone else stood up for undercity rights and it simply just wasnt the MAIN FUCKING CAST. And yeah okay, evidence of absence is not the absence of evidence. Sure.

Counter-counterpoint: there wasnt even a hint of a fight - everything was Too Good to have been the product of ONLY TEN YEARS unless everyone in topside got really cool about a lot of stuff REALLY FUCKING FAST

Act 2 Ep 7 reeks of topside fantasy - that they can just magically make everything better at the drop of a hat. Like all the bad theyve done, they can easily make better. As if they can be forgiven, as if their guilt and complicity in suffering could be so easily removed. And case in point: Viktor will still die from his disease in this world. Hextech was never made so he just straight up dies. HES NOT MUCH OLDER THAN JINX OR EKKO. Hes not even in Vander's generation. HOW MANY YOUNG ADULTS DIED FROM DISEASE IN THE PRESENT TIME OF THIS ALTERNATE UNIVERSE?? WHY WERE THEY NOT ON SCREEN??? WHY WAS THIS HAPPY WORLD SO UNCOMPLICATED BY THE ENTIRE PREMISE OF SYSTEMATIC OPPRESSION ESTABLISHED IN S1??

It's not even that its "not realistic". And let me be very clear:

This is entirely about how the show starts off with a thorough and deep introduction of all the ways topside oppresses the undercity for various bullshit reasons and perceived prejudices. And all that work of building that system of oppression done by Act 1, Act 2 Ep 7 dismisses almost in its entirety. WHY WOULD YOU GIVE SUCH A THOROUGH SET UP IF YOU WERENT GOING TO USE IT AS A WAY TO COMPLICATE ANY PROGRESS MOVING FORWARD???

Its like you showed the creation of this complicated formula and then slapped the answer without showing your work. HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE CATHARTIC?!?

And yes, okay, the show essentially needed the undercity to be That Good because they needed to give Ekko his hero arc - they needed to truly emphasize the depth of this guy's nobility. Ffffffine. But they sacrificed crucial parts of their premise for a character arc, which is. Yeah. That is definitely a choice. (It also works as an intermission piece wherein you give the audience time to be happy before you hit them with the sads. BUT WE DID THAT LAST ARC TOO, STOP RECYCLING YOUR STORY PHASES)

SUPER LONG ITAPAN RAMBLE INCOMING!!!!

OKAY. OKAY. its been a while since ive rambled on this account so today im going to clear up how i see itapan so that no one gets confused when i say “i dont think they would ever date” and then proceed to draw them making out or whatever.

when you hear “one sided itapan” you might think italy has the stronger feelings (because he’s the one approaching and hugging and kissing japan or whatever) but i feel that it’s actually japan with the stronger feelings.

when italy’s affectionate towards japan, its not because he’s necessarily attracted to him, but that’s just how he behaves. i think that he’s kind of trying to lead him on so japan is nicer to him. italy has been coddled his entire life like he’s been taken care of by austria and hungary and spain and france and germany and literally everyone loves him. and he KNOWS that everyone loves him so he purposefully babies himself to others so he can get even more special treatment. hes an annoying little asshole who uses his good looks and weakness to get out of trouble and i love it!!!

throughout the series (both in anime, manga, and a little in hetamyu), japan actually grows a bit of a soft spot for italy because of how weak and pathetic he makes himself seem. at first he’s polite and awkward because he idolized italy to be strong and capable, but once his expectations are SHATTERED he gradually begins to want to take care of him in a way. he doesn’t get mad at him as often and sometimes even defends him when germany is upset or lecturing him (like in hetalia fantasia). he tucks him in bed and lets him sleep on his chest and share a bed and bathe together and do the gayest shit ever. i probably would’ve thought “well thats because he’s too polite to refuse” but he ACTIVELY wants to do this stuff with him. he puts a hand on his back to keep him in place when he rests on his chest. he visits italy often and loves to cook with/for him. he wants to learn how to hug and kiss him back even after italy says its fine. he writes him letters and a SONG where he asks italy to visit him and gives him a pressed flower bookmark. japan goes out of his way to return italy’s affection and spend time with him while italy just does it because he’s italy.

i dont really think it’s a “sad” one-sided crush because in the end they’re still friends! they still both care about each other and confide in one another and hang out. italy isnt just affectionate to japan because he wants to lead him on and get more special treatment, but because they’re friends and he does still like him platonically! they can act like a couple without actually BEING one and thats insane!!! i love that shit!!!!!

ive mentioned how itager/gerita was my first hetalia ship and it still stands as one of my favorites. the problem is that im PICKY with it because i dont like a lot of the fandoms’ interpretations of them. i guess i wasnt as picky with itapan and liked it simultaneously with (although much more than) itager. but when i rewatched all of hetalia over the spring i realized how much MORE i liked itapan in the context of itager, which kind of blew my mind. like i remember mentioning to some itapan friends how i think they would never date and i still stand with that today. like italy and germany are too busy trying to win eachother over and they would just get together instead. japan actually likes his friends though and wants them to be happy so he would just go “ok” and move on while still doing all that gay shit with them. i guess jt makes itapan more of a brotp but it doesnt make it any less enjoyable for me. i LIKE to see them hanging out and being friends and dont really mind fanart where they’re dating or whatever because i can just pretend that they’re not!

i definitely dont have a problem with poolverine puppy play but i do think it walks a fine line that needs to be really carefully accounted for, and ive yet to find The Perfect Fic that fully gets it and fully character studies them about it. partially i think they need to be fully switches about it, but also they both have HUGE problems with authority and being used as weapons and mindless beasts by people who wanted to train them. so i think while there's a layer of dehumanization and degredation that'll always go hand in hand with puppy play, which is part of the eroticism, i think it needs layers of eroticizing the horrors and reclaiming them from those that used it to hurt, an emphasis on "only for you, only you get this power over me because i give it to you," and a lot of positive reinforcement instead of using it as an axis for play punishments. ownership as an expression of love and caring because they never got to own anything that mattered to them or be handled by someone who cared enough to be gentle. and "gentle" here doesnt mean just cooing and staring into each others eyes, there's still leash tugging and rough hip slapping, but "gentle" in a more emotional sense. "gentle" meaning every tug is filled with love and doesnt cross any boundaries.

i think if you make a direct parallel to stryker, well, for one expect that to make everything immediately way heavier and more difficult to handle, and also maybe acknowledge that it's possible for puppy play to just be off the table for a little while. like sometimes the real source of trauma comes barreling into town and says "you'll always be an animal" and maybe the sexified treating your partner like an animal play has to go away for a while! idk. personally i think stryker would make the wound too fresh to be played with, because even an eroticized fantasy where he sees logan in a collar and then gets killed in revenge still has him dying thinking "this man was an animal someone managed to control, its just that it wasnt me who did it," and not "logan is a fully conscious human who is making the choice to submit in specific contexts to a specific person, and im dying for my crimes"

though, i guess if you could somehow force him to recognize the second thing it could make for a fun murder fantasy. take that, villain, you just got your worldview dissected and your head decapitated

Right so where do i begin? Where all things start i suppose. The premise.

To cut a long symopsis short two weasels travel to china to gain magical relics and po must stop them. Along with a knight from England whos agender relies heavily on revenge.

Simple plot. Nothing special. I can deal with it. Fine.

But things get complicated along the way as things do. While season 1 and 2 are flawed its fun. Like paws of destiny. Just a pinch of salt. Fun.

But i still have issues and one such is the nonsensical chaos that is implied in shipping. I was quite happy with the subtle chemistry and bonding po and blade had. Subtle being the key word.

ive a degree in snimation and excelled in character design, lore and characteristic signifiers. The subtlety here is how po would look at her during the moon festival. Its not platonic. Why you ask? He looked her over up and down in a way that signfied a hint just a hint of developing affection.

Now fast forward to when blade was angry with him saying po took advantage of her anxieties so she could let her gaurd down and unwind a little.

So lets look at how po spoke suring his response. The cues as it were dictate

"I just wanted you to see what you'd miss about china - and...what you'd miss about me"

The last part wasnt as strong at the opening statement. Their was a pause. That pause shows sadness and the rest of it was said in a gentle vulnerable way. Perspective? One of two things po is an innocent guy so it could be construed as him just wishing to be missed but due to the cues again can be caught as something else.

Blade throughout season one and two actually likes po for him. They've bonded through thick and thin.

So now we come to the simp himself Collin. So here we had emphasis on had a bad ass tracker who was tracking down blade because she was a wanted criminal. Po was collateral or at the very least he saw as an accomplice. Now this comes to an important analysis. Towards the end of season 1 blade and collin are fighting on top of the mountain. Collin is very vehement on doing his job. Fair enough. But lets for a moment fast forward to season 3 where he literally simps for blade because reasons? If he hesitated during that fight in season one just for a moment that the stones for s3 are set. But nope.

Also lets look at some signifiers that suggest romantic scenes. Or at the very least implied. Back to season 1 end. Po and blade share a very long hug. Po even leans into it nose to neck. Intimate. But we also see the romantic view of the mountain scape. Its drawn out to say the least. Ooookay subtle doesnt need to have any emphasis on it really.

If po hugged tigress like this then people would be frothing and loving it and i digress the scene sets itself. You do not hug fruends in this manner as its considered affectionate or intimate.

Bored yet? Annoyed that theirs analyse? Well its not over yet and it only gets worse.

So season 2 is littered with what we can call growth between our band of heroes. Po and blade holding hands all the time. The bit that comes later worth note is when blade is at her most vulnerable and po writes in a book about the rules of being a dragon knight. He doodles master masterdon giving po a piggyback. When blade mentions it po gets all embarrassed which again is subtle like he doesnt want to look like a dork in front of his friend. He later grabs blades hand and fistbumps the air. Staying like that for a bit. Now while this is sweet and hes very much riding out the high.

"You can let go now"

"Not yet"

But again it shows chemistry and banter of growth. A huge contrast in season 1. Growth.

Season 3 is such a mess. Pacing of story issues. Character cringe. Twists that actually made no sense and at one point they could of very well summoned captain planet.

So collin still wants to bring blade in but hes not subtle about showing he very well has a crush on blade. Now this gets rather intrusive as the episodes continue. Collin doesn't really add anything to the group. Akna has her ingenuity though is socially awkward. Ruhkmini is the literal voice of reality but brings the group together with hiw resourceful she is. Collin just stumbles along. Which again is a shame considering what he brought in season 1. Weiman was also wasted potential.

So season three kills off the main villian which is somewhat derivative. Veruca was such a poignant character with a goal in mind to ravage England from those that rejected them to create something new. Fine this was fine and they should have kept it that way. But no.

So lets cue to season 3 where blade reunites with po. He runs to her picks her up, spins her around and they hug? This is very romantic coded. You would not pick up your sibling this way nor a friend. Later we find po is so depressed that blade does all she can to help him (the episode is one such pacing issue) so both are in a gorge po is paralysed by a plant and cant move and blade is literally high of a plants pollin. I wish i was joking. So po does everything in his power not to get up or attempt to rid the paraylse but to hold her hand. Again subtle.

So lets cue to the end if we can even call it that. Collin asks blade out finially asking her i suppose and she just shook her head. Keeping it open i guess as her response could be taken in a few ways. But theirs a but. Then we see blade returning to china to star gaze with po which is a stark contrast to season 1. They also share baobao buns. In a moonlit restorant outside in a seating area. Signifiers, the moon has such strong romantic connotations.

England has nothing for blade anymore. Shes a wanderer free to go as she pleases. Unhindered and in no ones shadow. So if she actually said yes to collin it would complicate a lot. She doesn't want to be a knight and being a debutante is something she voiced very clearly thats not what she wanted. Whats she going to do wait till hes fone with the dutys for the day and thats it? Collin would possibly like that. No actual chemistry between them. It'll be like zuko from the legend of Aang falling in love with after after chasing him all over the globe.

Blade is independent and from what we do see she comes back to po?

The whole bestie signifier just isnt convincing nor is this oh they act like siblings. Its as if they were queer coded. Like perish the thought po would be into another a bear.

This is long overdue and again i really wanted to get into alot. So much more about pacing issues and when the script contradicted what we actually saw.

Po and blade for the record never actually wanted to officially get together. I was quite happy for them to be hinted at, subtle and sweet.

End of shipping/character analysis. Now piss off im tired.

Magnus stood outside holding the duffel bag. He was frozen. Couldn't move. He wanted to run away from the problem.

He texted Raphael to meet him outside the Lightwood Manor.

"Have you seen Magnus?" Alec asked, its almost half 8, and dinner is getting ready. He looked at his phone and still no reply.

"He looked down earlier." Clary told him, which was not comforting. He took out his phone and ramg him again.

"Hiya its Magnus, Im probably avoiding you, so dont leave a voice message. Unless its Alec, then go right ahead."

"Magnus where are you? Im worried, just call me when you get this." Alec sat on the steps, waiting by the door.

A few minutes past by and the door opened, Magnus standing there, his jacket zipped up.

"Magnus!" Alec pulled him in for a hug.

"Sorry traffic was terriable." Magnus whispered, as he hugged Alec back.

"Im gonna go upstairs and get changed, and it looks like someone needs you." He said, as Tavvy was pulling at Alec's leg.

"Can you play with me. Max is to small and everyone here is no fun." Tavvy pouted, as Magnus walkes upstairs, Johnathan watched, as he followed him up, as Tavvy led Alec to the lounge.

Magnus opened his bedroom door, and unzipped his jacket, he still had a headache, but the neausa and dizziness has passed.

He looked at the faint bruises on his neck. Tracing his finger along the bruise. He went to the closet and grabbed a purple turtleneck and put it on, a knock on the door made him jump.

"Sorry didnt mean to scare you."

Magnus just shot Johnathan a glare, as he straighned his turtleneck and looked at the closet mirror.

No visible brusing.

"What now Johnathan?" He said, as he folded his shirt.

"Where's the duffel bag?"

"My appartment. God whats with the questions."

"Im sorry. I shouldnt have followed you, but you should have told me you were seeing your dad again."

"And what were you going to do? Arrest him? You made things worse you know that!" He wasnt angry at Johnathan, he was angry at himself. He was angry at the cops who were making the case against his dad.

"I know and im sorry, but I was looking out for you. If you dont want to tell me what you and your dad did. Thats fine, but please tell Alec the truth, he should know."

"I told him some parts..He just doesnt need to know yet." Magnus walked past Johnathan and headed downstairs.

Magnus headed to the lounge to see Alec reading Tavvy a book.

"Tavvy come on we are heading home." Mark called out, as Tavvy groaned

"Go and grab your coat Tavvy." Alec tickled him, which made Tavvu laugh and run out of the lounge.

"Are you alright?" Alec said, as Magnus sat beside him.

"Ive been worse." He lied.

"How about tomorrow we go to a nice restaurant just the two of us." Alec said,

"That would be nice." Magnus smiled, resting his head against Alec's.

"Dinner is ready." Maryse called, as the doorbell went.

"Ill get it." Shouted Isabelle.

Max crawled into the lounge, as Alec picked him up.

"Mom fed him so I can put him to bed." Jace announced.

"Do you want to go to uncle Jace." Alec cooed, as Max giggled.

"Take him to bed, put his dino toy in his cot." Alec said handing him over to Jace.

Isabelle came in, followed by an older male.

"Hodge its been a while." Alec smiled, hugging the older man. He hasnt seen Hodge since he was seventeen.

"You gotten taller Alexander. And you must be Magnus Bane." He smiled at Magnus, who smiled back.

"Im going to be staying here fot a bit..so i need to speak to Maryse." Hodge said walking to the kitchen to see Jocelynn ans Maryse talking

Sebastian and Simon were talking about D&D, and Clary and Jace came downstairs, talking about her new job at a small animation studio.

Johnathan pulled Magnus aside.

"Hodge was one of the bosses that was working on your dad's case." Johnathan whispered.

"I thought you werent supposed to tell?"

"Im being a friend here. Take that info, because I find it odd that he turns up after your father." Johnathan whispered, as he went to the kitchen.

something i feel is unfortunate in abuse in media is how little diversity we often get. like we get a lot in bg3, which makes me appreciate it more.

but a lot of times when you're in an abusive situation, even if you have the forethought to constantly go "this isn't normal", your body adjusts. you get tired of fighting the current and go along with it just to conserve the energy you need to stay alive. for a lot of people they don't even fully realize how abusive a situation is until long after they get out

in a lot of media ive consumed when a character goes through abuse trauma like, the second they get out of it they break down crying and have catharsis and act like a frightened little animal. this isn't to say no one has ever done this, im sure a lot of people have had those moments where they finally escape and act just like that the days following.

but in my experience it just kinda. goes on? at least for a while. the abuse missing leaves a weird gap in your life you are kind of desperate to fill. or you try to jump back into how your life was 'before'. you compartmentalize it. wonder if you're handling it 'correctly'. you wake up weeks or months or years after the abuse and realize "oh. that was fucked up" and break down crying. sometimes you appear completely normal but you just cant eat or sleep right and youre cranky for no reason and everyone thinks you're a massive asshole to them for no reason. sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night feeling unsafe and sleep on the bathroom floor with the doors locked a weapon in hand and the next day feel stupid for it. sometimes you live your life like nothing is wrong for years until one day something triggers the trauma and you are sent spiraling down further and further to new lows you never thought possible and never even comprehended during the active abuse.

healing doesn't happen linearly where you get rescued, act vulnerable and innocent, recover, and then you're fine. most of the time it's just a mess all over the place. most of the time you never really just 'get over it', you just learn to cope with it better and seem more put together. it took me like, a year or two to even figure out i was abused pretty badly. i sure as shit hadn't been processing any of it in that time. was i just languishing in bed? no, i was, as far as i knew, going about my day to day life as normal.

it was like noticing a major structural problem in a house and being like "aw fuck. i have to tear all this down and start over before it collapses in on me" after trying to brush it aside and ignore it. and of course most people cant just move all of their shit out that day. i waited, trying to figure out how i was gonna do it. all the little problems in the house you can normally ignore just seemed to get worse by the day. but eventually i moved my shit out and tore it all down, ripped up the foundation, and started anew. and nothing about it was easy, because like. the house was my life and how i interacted with people around me? so for a while i just felt like i had nothing, until i got the foundation squared away. then i had some walls and a roof while proverbially living in a tent out back. then i had proper insulation and walls and plumbing and i could kinda move back in. the house still isnt done. sometimes something happens and it all seems to go to shit and i have to redo a bunch of stuff. but its getting better. the new house is a lot safer. many people will wonder how i didnt notice sooner or why the new house wasnt built faster but they can shove it.
