#which is a big part of the problem with hero society

My personal feeling is that orignally Quirk counseling wasn't meant to be a big deal.
The chapters in which it comes up are: Chap 22 (a random line), chap 165 (not directly mentioned as they merely talk of counseling not of Quirk counseling), chap 226 (2 lines which are cut in the anime), chap 370 (a mention), chap 392 (it's not directly mentioned, we can only speculate the woman is there to give it), chap 430 (where all of sudden it seems the solution to all the problems) and chap 431 (where we're vaguely explained how the program works).
All this to say... Quirk counseling in the story wasn't a big deal until they decided it was the solution to all the problems, and during the Remedial Course Arc it wasn't even directly mentioned.
I think the remedial course arc was set up to help Shouto to deal with his own Villain.
Midoriya and Uraraka took part to the Shie Hassaikai arc. In it Midoriya deals with Eri (who's a child who can't control her powers and is exploited by an adult) and this could have helped him to deal with Tomura, while Uraraka deals with Nighteye's death and this helps her to move from the mindsetting "I want to be a Hero to help my parents" to the "I want to be a Hero to save people as I don't want to see anyone die" which might have helped her to deal with Himiko (who, after Jin's death, will be afraid Heroes are out to kill her).
Shouto wasn't in this arc so he couldn't learn anything to help him to deal with his Villain, so the Remedial Course arc, who comes immediately after the Shie Hassaikai arc seems there exactly for this reason.
I loved this speech from Gang Orca.
It remarks on the importance of creating a connection and it would have been important if Touya and Shouto could connect.
In the past Shouto already had a similiar discussion with Midoriya (in the arc that will see him meeting with Touya for the first time).
Kouta, who hates Hero society, can be viewed as a stand in for Tomura but also for Touya. In this exchange Shouto in the end told Midoriya he shouldn't butt in, as the situation is delicate.
One might see the Remedial course arc as an evolution of all this, the kids in it too have problems with society but Shouto this time is told he has to engage, that he can't just say, it's a delicate topic, I won't butt in because he has to 'save' those kids.
It would stand in parallel with how Shouto understood that Rei snapped and attacked him because she was driven to a corner and ultimately decided to engage with her.
The story seems to want to build up an arc for Shouto in which he'll understand if his brother turned into aVillain was because he snapped because he couldn't take it anymore, and that if he wants to stop him he has to engage and connect his heart with him, not bare his fangs at him and fight him like any other Hero would have done.
And then instead what we have when Shouto faces Touya?
A fight, Shouto being miserable but not connecting with Touya at all...
And why is that? Because the story needed so (I've discussed about it more in details here).
However, since Horikoshi decides Tomura, Touya and Himiko can't be saved, in order for the story to have a positive ending he needed to prove the FUTURE Tomura, Touya and Himiko would be now saved so enter Quirk counseling again, who only needed to be polished a bit by Uraraka and be joined by well meaning people without the slightest preparation to deal with kids with problems to work like a charm and stop what? half of the kids with Quirk problems to turn into Villains? The way they present it as the most essential initiative seems to imply they could be even more than a half.
Awesome how Uraraka could turn a flawed program into a perfect one and save the day. Too bad they hadn't thought at it sooner, isn't it?
Overall, I do get Horikoshi's idea but I this it's a bad one.
If Quirk counseling had to be the secret weapon to save the world... well, it needed to be a more integrant part in the story and a part of Uraraka's story.
So I don't think it's so much that Shouto was cut from it due to Horikoshi needing something for Uraraka to do... but that Shouto ended up cut from it when Horikoshi decided that no, Shouto wouldn't manage to connect his heart with his brother during the battle and Uraraka wouldn't manage to avoid having another person dying in front of her while she's helpless (actually let's give her a bigger trauma and make Himiko die to save her).
But with the Villains dying Horikoshi needed someone to save so what about saving the new generation of future Villains none of his readers cared about because they didn't exist yet?
But Shouto couldn't be involved because he now have enough to deal with due to the fallout of his family drama and Midoriya also has enough to deal with due to losing OFA so let's toss the burden on Uraraka who only lost Himiko.
Really, to me it feels more like Horikoshi went by exclusion than by logic.
Of course it's also possible I'm just being bitter. I don't like the idea to murder the Villains and I don't like the idea to entrust with a pollyannaish optimism the Quirk counseling to people who are well meaning but not trained at all into spotting and helping kids with problems.
People's opinion might differ from mine and love it but well, we can't all feel the same.
âRemedial courseâ arc Vs Uraraka's quirk counseling program in chap 431
So, in my Quirk counseling post Iâve already mentioned how Uraraka's quirk counseling program seemed to recycle the idea of the âRemedial courseâ arc⌠which is not so great because the whole thing didnât mention as involved in the program the people who had been involved in the âRemedial courseâ arc, especially Shouto who was directly touched by Quirk problems in the family and troublesome Quirk related family situations (so he should/could also be invested in helping kids who have such problems) and the story didnât even create a scene in which information about what happened in the âRemedial courseâ arc could be passed to Uraraka as we never see Bakugou and Shouto talk about their lessons. The result is it either happened offscreen (possible but bad because it doesnât acknowledge their contribute) or Uraraka somehow had the same idea that the guys in the âRemedial courseâ arc had (possible but not great because it feels unoriginal).
But, okay, letâs put this aside for now.
What I really wanted to do now was a more in deep comparison between the two so letâs start with sum up some things about them, starting withâŚ
THE STORY
âRemedial courseâ arc (RAC for short)
In order to get their Hero license a group of teenagers (Bakugou, Shouto, Inasa and Utsushimi) is taking part to a remedial course. During one of the lessons theyâre asked out of the blue to take care of a class of kids from the Masegaki elementary school. The class is apparently composed SOLELY of troublesome kids which their teacher doesnât know how to handle. The teenagers are expected to âtransform the classâ by the end of the day, working together to win the class over. After various failed attempts they manage to use their Quirks and the kids Quirks to create a wonderful slide and have all the kids play with it. This impresses and tames the kids who become absolutely obedient and feel understood by them.
Uraraka's quirk counseling program in chap 431 (UQC for short)
A group of Heroes (Togata, Amajiki and HadĹ) has volunteered to take part to Urarakaâs Quirk counseling program and, after reading the documents about the kids, theyâre about to join them with Uraraka. Uraraka explains them that the most important thing is communication, that kids might seem to be fine but actually have troubles often related to their home environment and are wary of opening up but as theyâll have a time or longer to work with them, theyâll surely notice signs and that they just have to focus on making friends. The result is one of them (Togata) decides to challenge the kids to a game in which they should use their Quirk to hit his âpeachesâ. Uraraka helps with her Quirk a shy kid to do so. All the kids are impressed by his feat and things seem to go on smoothly.
Now that weâve refreshed everyoneâs mind letâs start comparingâŚ
THE STRUCTURE OF THE TWO PROJECTS MORE IN DEEP
Who is aimed at: a class who apparently has only troublesome kids all of whom in need to be helped (RAC), a class of kids which might or might not have kids with Quirk related problems (UQC)
Who is supposed to help: 4 teenagers whoâre studying to become Heroes (RAC), 3 adults who are Heroes [actually 5 adults if we count Uraraka and Asui but itâs unclear if theyâll stay to work with the other 3 or are just accompanying them and then will move to another school] (UQC)
How much preparation they have: none (RAC), they were given to read some documents about the kids and, as they walk there, theyâre also given an EXTREMELY quick and vague explanation about how the program works [Uraraka and Asui might have more preparation but we donât really know if theyâll stay] (UQC)
How much practical experience they have: none (RAC), none [again, Uraraka and Asui have experience but we donât know if theyâll remain to help or move to another school] (UQC)
How much willing they were to help the kids: they had no idea they would have to help the kids and were given it as an assignment to get their Hero license (the fact in this particular case the teenagers involved also decided they wanted to help the kids for the sake of the kids wasnât factored when their involvement was decided) (RAC), they volunteered (UQC)
How much time they have: a school day (RAC), a month which can be extended if thereâs need for it (UQC)
Now⌠from this quick overview itâs clear while the UQCâs structure isnât great⌠well, the structure of the RAC is a mess. Teenagers, in order to get their Hero license, are forced to deal with a class FULL of kid a professional teacher doesnât know how to handle and are expected to solve their problems IN A DAY without having THE SLIGHTEST PREPARATION to do so. Having willing adults with a minimal preparation deal for a month with a class in which some kids might have problems is definitely a much better plan⌠at least on papers.
Well⌠technically even the story wants to claim the UQC is better, as the RAC shows the teenagers making various attempts (and failing more than once) before managing to connect with the kids, while the UQC shows Togata making a single attempt that works like a charm right from the start.
The problem is⌠Togataâs attempt is quite bad and shouldnât have worked while the teenagersâ final attempt was good and could have worked, not to magically fix all the kidsâ problems but to create a connection and help them.
Now, Iâll give the UQC a pass in the sense I wonât blame it specifically for how Togataâs attempt at making friends is, itâs clear that what Togata does suits his own personal brand of humor and idea on how to make friends (remember when he creeped Midoriya out by showing only his face all of sudden? And how he used the peach joke against Tomura?) and he wasnât instructed by Uraraka or the Quirk counseling rules to do what he did.
At the same time, this is the UQC MAIN problem, it doesnât instruct the people involved in how to approach with the kids, same as the RAC, but the RAC is a surprise test thatâs more focused on seeing if the teenagers can do it than on helping the kids (I mean, the teenagers could fail, there was no guaranty they would succeed) while the UQC is focused on HELPING THE KIDS. The adults shouldnât fail, they should be given all the means to succeed, they shouldnât improvise, they should go there with a plan that should have chances to be effective.
Now⌠why Togataâs attempt shouldnât have worked? (or, at least, he had serious chances to fail?)
Number 1 reason:
Togata challenges the kids and even mocks their failed attempts adopting a Villain persona. To him itâs a joke. Practically he would have increased the kidsâ frustration or scared them or make them more aggressive or disappointed them because the Number 1 Hero is being so mean. Heâs not yet friends with the kids so they wouldnât know his way to act and how heâs only playing around and theyâre young. They arenât meant to be able to decode his behavior and figure out itâs a joke.
By the way we see Bakugou challenging the kids in the RAC and, guess what, it doesnât work! Bakugou acting all aggressive doesnât get him close to the kids, it increases the distance between them! In the end Bakugou will get close by acting mature and giving honest counsel from his own experience, not by acting like a scary and overly competitive guy, so who saw the RAC appreciates even less Togataâs act.
Number 2 reason:
The game Togata proposes is a competitive one, one means to have winners and losers. In short itâll split the kids in two groups, where the winner group will likely be smaller than the loser group. His game doesnât promote cooperation or equality. Think if among the kids there had been little Midoriya and little Bakugou. Midoriya would be out of the game where Bakugou would have more likely won. This would have boosted further Bakugouâs ego and made Midoriya feel even less⌠but no, Uraraka would step in and help Midoriya to win⌠which would have caused Bakugou to react angrily to the frustration or losing and complain that Midoriya won only because he was helped out⌠and likely the other kids would feel the same. Now you might argue this would help Togata to see the kids with problems but⌠this would also give the kids with problems ADDITIONAL problems. And what if no one had won and all the kids were to feel frustrated because they couldnât win? Or what if that frustration had pushed them to go overboard with the use of their Quirk? Yes, there are Pro Heroes there so if something wrong happens they could theoretically handle it, but itâs only theoretically. A distraction can cause them to act too late. Now, okay, I can give Togata a pass on how his game apparently ignores how some kids could not have a Quirk thatâs suitable for this (or be Quirkless), because he had read documents about the kids so he might know all the kids have Quirks that can help them. I canât give him a pass for how he overlooked the fact that a competition can still make matters worse and doesnât necessarily promotes troubled kids to open up or make friends with Togata exactly because it can make matters worse.
Compare with the RAC. The teenagers in the end realized they shouldnât compete with the kids because this makes matter worse, as they arenât other teenagers who can get friends by competing with them, theyâre kids. So they set up a game in which each kid can take part as equal and have fun, a game with no winners and losers, a game that put value in the kidsâ Quirks without putting a rank to the kids or their Quirks. All the kids get to have fun and all the kids get to be helped by the teenagers to have fun, all the kids are praised and feel appreciated and understood. This creates a good atmosphere between the kids and the teens. Realistically no, it wouldnât magically solve the kidsâ problems but it could help them to open up, to trust the teens.
Number 3 reason:
Togataâs game doesnât really encourages Quirk positivity. Yes, the kids are allowed to use their Quirks but none of their Quirk would have allowed them to win (Ooshima did win only because he was helped by Uraraka) so all their kids would have turned out to be useless and not being praised. While yes, the goal here is clearly just to make friends, since this little segment was meant to show us how UQC works, it could have also shows us a game which implemented Quirk positivity but thatâs not the case, where the RAC did show Quirk positivity (the material produced by the kids is praised and used to create the slides and Quirks which didnât produce anything are praised for how helpful they could be in cleaning operations).
Number 4 reason:
After weâve one winner, Ooshima, the timid, shy kid, is suddenly tossed in the spotlight and involved in Togataâs style of humor. For start this cements the idea weâve one single winner and the rest are losers, instead than giving to the other kids the chance to win as well and became âall equalâ to him⌠but, whatâs more, this is a risky move to use in real life if you donât know well the kids as the other kids might react badly and, if something were to go wrong, this can also cause harm to Ooshimaâs self esteem.
Thereâs no such risk in the RAC where as there are no winners and losers all the kids are equal and none of them is put under the spotlight.
Conclusion:
All of the above prove no one told Togata which are the best tactics to use to interact with those kids and make friends without risking to make things worse.
Being well meaning isnât enough.
This should be a program that aims at helping kids so it should prepare people to do so, not just tell them âwith time youâll surely notice signs of problems so donât focus on the papers but on making friendsâ. Signs of problems can escape PROFESSIONALS. Mistakes can be done by PROFESSIONALS. Yet here weâre expecting well meaning amateurs to fix things just by having them trying their best⌠when âtrying their bestâ wasnât enough to save Tomura, Touya or Himiko.
Credits when itâs due, in Japan thereâs the belief that with just effort you can surpass people with innate talent, that if you fail is because you hadnât tried hard enough and that if you try hard you should succeed and thereâs also a strong stigma against psychological help⌠so this should have influenced Horikoshi in creating the UQC, denying people preparation because a psychological approach is âbadâ and focusing on effort because itâs the key to do everything.
Plus, although this bit is meant to explain Quirk counseling, it seems Horikoshi planned it merely as a short moment more aimed at lightening the mood of the story than at really showing a good way to help the kids. Things go way too easy at the first try, with no one showing big signs of needing help. Ooshima might as well be just shy and this might not be due to Quirk related problems. Or he has problems but itâs hard to tell in such a short scene because thereâs no real focus on the kids and their problems and how hard it could be to help them because the author here wants positivity and smiles and pass the belief that of course the children will be helped and everything will be all right.
In the end this bit is just an infodump, with light moments and focus on how Uraraka is doing such an important job thatâs so time consuming but she claims itâs all âme timeâ because she likes it.
So yeah, what we see is definitely inferior to the RAC which showed a concrete way in which teens and kids could connect and be of some help to kids.
Iâll conclude with something Iâve already said but that I still find worth repeating: itâs annoying the teens involved in the RAC were never said to have inspired or have been involved in the UQC. The teensâ experiences in the RAC ultimately werenât used at all, when HERE they could have been put to good use. At the same time while itâs possible Uraraka figured the old Quirk counseling program harmed Himiko instead than helping her, Horikoshi gave the whole thing a too weak connection. I mean, the first time it was mentioned Midnight thought Tomura was like that because he didnât receive Quirk counseling (meaning among Heroes thereâs the belief Quirk counseling is good) and now Uraraka thinks Himiko is like that because the Quirk counseling she received wasnât good enough and needed to be improved? Without Himiko ever mentioning it? It feels random, as if Horikoshi changed his plans all of sudden.
But okay, I guess with this Iâve finished talking about the topic.
All in all itâs a pity things went like that but this is what we have. Thank you for reading so far and sorry if it felt boring to you.

I'm overthinking something and going to throw it here to hear what everyone else thinks. The whole Todoroki eye imagery stuff has been well discussed, I have a meta or two on it somewhere, but I'm just rethinking what Dabi told Hawks. You know the spiel of, "More than Twice, more than anyone else, you should have kept both eyes on me." right?
So, initially we thought that was Dabi saying Hawks should have recognized him as a threat. Then as we kind of got into the Touya storyline, the wording seemed to hit on Touya's insecurities about Endeavor, too, because his father never saw him, after all.
So, on one level, we can say this was definitely a projection that Hawks is another top hero who didn't pay attention to Touya like he should have.
Except -
The thing is Dabi doesn't know that Hawks was ordered to kill Twice. He doesn't know that the HPSC had a simultaneous raid on Redestro's "body" in the hospital, and that no matter what, Hawks had to eliminate Twice to either ensure the Redestro in the basement or hospital was gone, even if they assumed the hospital one was the real one. No one expected Redestro's supports to fail that badly, actually. So, as far as what Dabi knew is that Hawks was targeting Jin, but specifically targeting Jin in other ways. Remember his sentiment line?
It's clear Dabi might have heard or realized Hawks had been trying to convince Jin to leave the League. That he was offering him mercy. Heck, he knew Hawks would put himself in harm's way to save him, he was very assured Hawks was that type of hero (he was wrong). So, while we can definitely take that statement as Dabi saying that Hawks should have realized Dabi was a threat, what if there was hidden meaning to it too?
Notice how Dabi asks Tokoyami who really deserves to be saved?
I think, perhaps, there might have been (and mind you Dabi was hysterical/manic in that whole episode) some part of Touya asking why Hawks saw something to "save" in Jin and not in him? Is this me over-thinking it? He's always had a weird thing about heroes not saving others. Touya's opinion of himself is also absolutely heart-breaking, as we can see in how willing he is to burn himself to a crisp.
So there might have been an anger that, again, a hero overlooked his potential as a threat, sure, but maybe a part of Touya was asking why he wasn't worthy of that hand Hawks had 'extended' to Jin, too.
#as an aside the choice Hawks gave Twice was no choice at all#but it's also a big thing about how hawks pick and chose who was worthy according to his own beliefs#which is a big part of the problem with hero society#dabi#hawks#just some thoughts

âYou know what youâre doing, right?â
You shoot him a look, âI know you did not just ask me that.â Miguel stuttered, not realizing that his words mightâve offended you.
âNo, shock, sorry, I was just-â
âMiguel, chill.â You playfully punched his arm. âI got this.â
âYou do. I didnât mean to doubt you.â
You knew he didnât mean that, but you wouldnât tell him you were a little nervous. It would be your first time working the Go Home machine alone without help from Margo, who was planning to go on more missions for Miguel. You knew your way around regarding technologyâmaking your position at Spider Society a very helpful one.
For someone who didnât have any superpowers.
âJust donât press the âblow up HQâ button and youâll be straight.â Margo added in, making sure you were all set by putting the last of her console commands.
âWhy would I even want to press that button?â
âJust in case you get bored. Like I do.â
Miguel pinched the bridge of his nose, âDo you think it was a good idea to say that in front of your boss?â
âYes.â Margo winked, making him shake his head at her antics.
âJust call one of us if you do need help.â Miguel assured you with a hand on your shoulder. You tried not to focus on how huge his hand was on you. How close he was to you. How good he smelled at that moment. Like sandalwood. Good thing you had the best poker face in the world, otherwise your crush on him was going to show.
âI will, donât worry.â
You had a system for sending anomalies back through the Go Home machine. You tried to get the ones brought in order so they wouldnât spend much time inside the building. Some were antsy, primarily the villains, so you always did your best to get them out immediately. Otherwise, they'd cause problems.
Your stomach growled when you glanced at the time. It was almost lunch. Miguel was still on a mission, so you figured having lunch with him was off the table. You tried to ignore the disappointment in your stomach when you thought about being unable to eat with him. Especially since you brought him a sandwich you made this morning. He said he liked your food.
A portal emerges, and there you see Miguel and Jess with two anomalies in tow. One was webbed up and unconscious, while the other was happily following them, taking in the sights.
It was a Deadpool and Wolverine, anomalies you've never seen before. The most you've gotten were villains, other spider people who weren't a part of the Society, and random citizens. You knew there were other heroes within the universes, but you'd never thought you see them.
âOooh it's so shiny!â Deadpool admired the other cages filled with anomalies. The one he was looking at contained a gigantic Vulture. âHow did you bring this son of a gun in here?â
âHey.â Jess called, âWe agreed to let you look in exchange for voluntarily locking you up.â
âI know, I know.â Deadpool held out his arms to carry Wolverine, who was across Miguelâs shoulder. Miguel sighed before handing one of the X-Men over, like a bride in Wade's arms.
âUh, what happened to him?â You asked as you locked the two heroes up.
âKnocked him out with my bike.â Jess informed you, âKitty cat was getting a little crazy, so I had to calm him down.â
âHe didn't have his morning coffee, that's why.â Deadpool started stroking his friend's hair. âBig guy needs his caffeine mixed with two shots of bourbon.â
Miguel sighed, âJust what I needed, a Deadpool and Wolverine. You know they usually come in pairs?â
You didnât know that.
âBetter than dealing with a Green Goblin.â
âAnything's better than dealing with goblin.â Deadpool said, âIt's like witnessing therapy 101 when talking to that guy.â You bit your lip to hide your amusement while Jess and Miguel didnât indulge in him. âTough crowd. I thought all Spidey's are supposed to be funny.â
âNot him.â You pointed at Miguel, âHardly a funny bone in his body.â Jess chuckled at that while he rolled his eyes.
âSomeone has to be serious around here.â
While putting the two heroes on the list for the Go Home machine, your stomach growled once more. Now that Miguel was back, hopefully you two would get lunch and eat together in his lab like usual. It's almost as if he read your mind when pulling you aside.
âHey, I'm not eating lunch now. I have a pile of reports I need to sign off on and it will take me a while.â
âOh.â You ignored the disappointment in your chest. âIt's okay. Work comes first.â
Miguel smiled, a gentle hand on your shoulder. âThanks for being understanding.â
Once taking his leave, you sat in a chair by the Go Home machine, eating your sandwich. You only had forty-five minutes, but with Miguel, it was usually close to an hourâperks of being a leader of Spider Society.
âWhere the fuck are we?â You heard from one of the enclosures. Wolverine was finally awake.
âThe future.â Deadpool said, âIt's not all that. I didn't see a Taco Bell in here.â
âThe closest thing to that are the tacos in the cafeteria.â You stood, tossing the wrapper from your sandwich away.
âOooh, what about Mexican pizza? We don't even have those in our dimension because they keep taking it off the menu. Capitalism.â
âCan you not focus on food right now?â You see Wolverine shredded the neon webbing to pieces, understandably pissed off. âWe need to get out of here.â
âOh, I wouldn't do that.â You advise, âNot unless you wanna deal with hundreds of spider people as soon as you escape.â
âYeah, we should sit this out, peanut.â Deadpool patted Wolverine's head, âUnless you wanna embarrass yourself again like when you fight Magneto.â
He growled, kicking the neon webbing away as if he had a personal vendetta with it. âWell, how long are we going to be stuck here?â
âNot long!â You look through your anomaly list, âAfter two Rhinos and one Mysterio.â
Wolverine sighed, his stomach growling, âThen is it possible to get some food? I'm fucking starving.â
âAre Mexican pizzas still on the table?â Deadpool rubbed his stomach.
âSorry, I can't let you guys out.â You then look at your lunchbox, remembering the extra sandwich. Miguel wasnât going to be able to eat it today. âWould a sandwich work?â
âI'd eat anything.â
âI believe him.â Deadpool added.
You slipped the duo the extra sandwich by partially opening up the cage. You told them to enjoy before going back to work. At least briefly before Deadpool started talking to past the time before you eventually had to send them home. You realized the man would keep going and going and going. Funny enough, it didn't bother you, considering working the Go Home machine tended to have a lot of quiet moments.
âI will say, despite being locked up in another dimension that's not my own, I would do it again if I had that hunk come get me every time.â
You lit up at the mention of Miguel. " Are you talking about the guy in the blue and red suit? Strong muscles? Arms you can get lost in?â
âYes, him. Dude has an insane build. I'd like to have a party with him and two other guys. But you know what they say, four's a crowd.â
ââŚI thought the phrase was âthree's a crowdâ?â
âNot in this story it isn't.â
Wolverine roughly pushed Deadpool to the side, âIgnore him.â
âIt's hard to when his voice resonates across the room.â You said with a hint of amusement.
âNow you see what I deal with every day.â
âI know, poor Wolverine.â You playfully pout, earning a sharp chuckle from him.
âBy the way, thanks for the sandwich. It was good.â
You weren't expecting a thank you from the rugged hero, but you appreciated it.
âYou're welcome.â
After meeting the infamous Deadpool and Wolverine, you were sure you wouldn't see them again. You couldn't help, but be disappointed by it. Working the Go Home machine all by yourself tended to get lonely. You got occasional visitors like Margo, Jess, Ben, Miles, etc. Miguel was busy as usual.
So it was nice to have some company besides the usual anomalies who were either too dangerous or too confused to speak to.
Maybe it was pure luck when Miguel came in one day with a sigh, carrying the same Wolverine through the portalâno Deadpool, though. Once again, Wolverine was unconscious due to Jess when they put him in the cage, covered with webs.
âLooks like we got a repeater.â You put down the hero's name on the list.
âI'd rather take him over Deadpool.â Miguel stretched and you tried not to focus on his v-line, burying your face in the tablet.
âI don't know, he's pretty funny.â
âReplace that with annoying.â
Once Miguel lowered his mask, you noticed his exhausted eyes. The red was not as bright as it usually was. âGo take a break.â
âI can't.â He ran his hands through his hair. âSo many mission reports, new dimensions, new anomalies.â He motioned over to the still knocked-out Wolverine. âIt doesn't make sense to take one right now.â
You glared at him, âGo take a damn break, or else I'm blocking you from my watch.â
âYou can't do that without administrative controls.â
âI'll ask Lyla to give them to me.â
On cue, Lyla appeared above your shoulder. âI'll do it, Mig. You know I'm always down for a little fun.â
Not wanting to deal with that, Miguel stands down, following your advice to take a break.
âI'll see you?â
You motioned around you to prove a point. âI'm not going anywhere.â
Miguelâs lips curled up briefly, shooting you through the heart. You etched his small attempt at a smile in your mind, wishing you had Lyla quickly take a picture to send it to you. This crush was so stupid. Why couldn't you get yourself together? You would never be with him anyway, considering that Spider Society was firstâno one else.
âNot this againâŚâ Wolverine woke again in the same predicament as before, just without his friend.
âSorry. At least you know what to expect now.â
âAnd you think that makes me feel better?â
ââŚyes? You saying you didn't miss me?â
Wolverine shook his head, not wanting to show you his slightly amused face. âI didn't say that, princess.â
The nickname makes you pause, blood rushing to your cheeks. It was nice to hear.
âWeâre already on a nickname basis?â
âI can take it back.â
âOh no, no need, Wolverine.â
âLogan. Rather have you call me by my name if I'm gonna keep coming back here.â
âWho's to say this won't be your last time here?â You asked while getting ready to put the next anomaly to the machine. âAlso, I knew your actual name, by the way.â You wiggle the tablet in front of him.
Once again, you were under the impression that Logan wouldn't come back. Except he did the next day. Willingly, as well. Not knocked out or tied up with webs. He just walked through the portal with the other spiders and plopped down in the cage, pouting.
You thought the situation was odd, so you asked Margo to come down for a minute to see if this happened before with other anomalies.
âOh yeah, all the time.â She said while observing Logan. âHad this Black Cat that kept showing up for a whole month once. There was no glitch, no secret dimensions collapsing. It was weird.â
âYeah, that'sâŚvery weird.â
âYou telling me I'm gonna keep showing up here for a month?â Logan asked, obviously not happy about that.
Margo shrugged, âMaybe? It could be much shorter, but we'll have to see.â
She showed you the statistics of Logan's original dimension, and you noticed how everything looked normal. The numbers weren't off, and the citizens were okay. It was nothing to bring up to Miguel that would cause concern.
âLet me out of here then.â
You and Margo glanced at each other, âWe canât. It's against the rules since you're classified as an anomaly.â
Logan huffed, âDidnât think you were such a rule stickler.â
You werenât. You didnât want to upset Miguel. If Logan kept returning, you might as well skip all the rules. At least make him more comfortable until the system got itself together.
You messed with the tablet to let him out. Logan and Margo were shocked at your actions, and the latter quickly pulled you to the side.
âSo, you're gonna take the heat, right? If Miguel gets mad at you?â
âHeâs not going to get mad.â You paused momentarily, âI don't think.â
âY'all might be tight, but he won't let this slide.â She looked over your shoulder to watch Logan, who stood by the opened cage, tapping his foot while waiting.
âI got it.â
Your plan was simple: have Logan keep you company until it was time for him to go home. You weren't going to admit to anyone else that it was a task trying to get some of the bigger anomalies in the machine. The spider mechanical legs were hitting their limit, and you didn't want to put them through maintenance, somehow still proving to Miguel that you couldn't handle it.
Margo let you do your thing when you gave Logan his day pass to stop him from glitching until he went home.
âNo fancy watch?â
âNo, sorry. Keep in mind this is only temporary.â
Logan nodded before searching the premises, âAny booze around here?â
âThereâs the spider bar, but it's not open now.â
He let out a short laugh, âReally? A âspiderâ bar? Youâre shitting me, right?â
âUh, this is coming from the person who rides in a X-Jet.â
You hold back in grinning when he blinked, âAlright, you got me there.â
Logan was a big help in helping you take the anomalies back to their respective dimensions. He hardly complained once you told him you'd grab him a couple of beers from the bar. And he kept you company, which you never thought you needed in this line of work. Working with technology tended to be a solo job. You just got lucky when Miguel noticed you and saw your potential. He helped you grow into the position you are in now. So, in a way, you wanted to prove he didn't put you there for nothing.
However, you felt all that crashing down when Miguel stormed into the room, seeing Logan was out of the enclosure.
âCare to explain why we have an anomaly out and about?â
You held the tablet close to your chest as you tried to devise a good excuse. Despite his rushed actions, you knew Miguel wasnât upset as his brows weren't creased.
âHeâs not out and about. Logan is under my supervision.â
Logan grunted in agreement, downing a beer you rewarded him.
âYou know that's not part of protocol.â Miguel said, hands on his hips. The typical leader pose.
âRelax, bub. She's just doing me a solid.â Logan cut in, and you tried to hold in your surprise of how quickly he downed that beer. âBy the way, you need to get better beer. This is shit.â
âWe've hardly had any complaints from other spiders.â
âFor a bunch of guys that can't get drunk, it's really easy to not give a fuck. â
Miguelâs face twisted in mild annoyance, and you quickly stepped in front of Logan to save him.
âLook, I know I'm breaking some rules here, but this is just until we figure out why he keeps popping up in other dimensions. I'll be careful.â
You strained your neck to look up at him, his eyes searching yours. He was so close to you. His breath brushing along your head, raising your heartbeat. Miguel suddenly backed off, his face a little annoyed, but he'll get over it.
âI trust you.â You relaxed your shoulders, glad he didn't demote you. He then focused his attention on Logan. âWatch yourself.â
Logan scoffed, âWhat, you think I'm going to steal her from you?â
âYou did not just say that.â Your head shot back at him and you could see the amusement on his face.
âBig guy's acting like I'm hogging all the attention.â
Miguel pinched his nose, âJust make sure he gets home.â
You watch him storm off, unsure how you made him upset once again. Actually, it was Logan's fault this time. Yet Miguel didnât say anything about his comment. It could've been a one-off. He's big on avoiding questions he didn't want to answer.
You decided not to dwell on it.
You jotted down every time Logan came through as an anomaly. It was like a game. You mark the day he comes through that portal, his face in his usual scowl. That quickly fades away once he sees you. You give him a few beers and he continues to complain about how terrible they are. Or how they're not as bad once you give it to him.
Whenever a villain anomaly needs to go back, Logan acts like your bodyguardâstanding behind you to assert dominance. To not mess with you. They always intimidated you since you're among the few people in the building without superpowers. And you didn't want to bring that up to Miguel either. Luckily, Logan being there relaxed you.
In fact, despite his aura of not wanting to be messed with, he was delightful to talk to. Easily being engaged in the conversations you two have. There, he knew about your civilian life and how you decided to work at Spider Society to help make a difference. You didnât expect to be in your current position, but you were grateful for it.
And you knew more about him. Every time an anomaly comes through, you get a dossier. Standard knowledge on whoever needed to get back home. But it never ran any deeper than that. Never gave you additional information about who they were as a person. Logan allowed you to see his other side when he told you about his dark past.
Somehow, you felt closer to him.
Miguel started acting strange whenever Logan was keeping you company. Before, you could count on one hand all the times Miguel came to see you when you started working the Go Home machine. Now, he was there a lot more than usual.
Saying he was checking up on how you're doing. If Logan was giving you any trouble, which the man didn't like that one bit. Making sure you were keeping to the daily quota of sending anomalies away. Playing into his boss role.
âDonât forget to send me the system checkups before you leave for the day.â You gave him a thumbs up at Miguelâs reminder and said goodbye as he left for what seemed like the hundredth time today.
âI swear to god if he shows up here one more time...â
Logan unleashed one of his claws for emphasis and you got the point.
âHeâs just doing his job. He can't have Spider Society start to slack. Otherwise-â
âThe multiverse would start collapsing blah, blah, blah.â He grabs another beer, popping off the top with a slice of his claws. âI got it, sweetheart. I can still fucking complain about it though.â
You ignored your heart fluttering whenever Logan gave you nicknames like princess or sweetheart despite his relaxed tone. You found yourself eying his physique while he kept you companyâespecially those bulging arms. You weren't immune to how a man displayed his strength.
Your stomach churned when you tore your eyes away. You couldnât be developing a crush on Logan too. You liked Miguel! And what was with you pining over men you never even had a chance with?
Speaking of pining for men you probably couldnât be with, Miguel was finally free. After saying goodbye to Logan, he sent you a message asking if you were available. This was good; it was an excellent chance to see if your crush on Miguel remained since you two had been apart for a while.
Or maybe it wasn't good because once you walked inside, his face lit up at the sight of you. You hoped he hadn't heard your increased heartbeat.
âYou wanted to see me?â You asked while trying to remain calm.
âYeah. I wanted to see if you could keep me company.â Miguel said, âI've got to sign off on paperwork and you know how much I despise it.â
âOh yeah.â
You got comfortable on the platform as he raised it, your legs dangling below. Miguel sniffed the air and grimaced at you.
âYou smell like him.â
You purse your lips. âSmell like who? Logan?â Miguel grunted and you tried to hold in a laugh. âWell, he has been hanging around me almost every day.â
âI know.â His muscles tense up at the conversation. âI don't like you hanging around with him.â
You tilted your head, âWhy?â
âBecause.â
âBecause what?â
Miguel remained silent, signing off on some more paperwork. You wish you had enough strength to knock him upside the head and quit the mysterious act. You'd be very successful, considering the lack of spider sense.
âMig, how am I supposed to know what's bothering you if you don't tell me?â
You notice his shoulders tensed up more.
âHeâs a drunk, too relaxed in his line of work, not serious when it comes to helping you with the machine.â
âHe's been fine to me. And you know he can only get drunk, but for so long.â
Miguel sucked his teeth, brows furrowed. âHe flirts with you.â
You wave him away, âIt's harmless.â
âNot to me.â He's looking at you now. Serious. âHe may have some underlying intentions.â
âWhat?â You start laughing, desperate to make this conversation feel like a joke. âLike he wants to get in my pants?â Miguel nodded to solidify it. âYou know I'm a grown adult, right?â
âI'm only saying this as-â He paused as if heâs trying to figure out the right words, âas your friend. I know how men are.â
âSo do I. I'm trying to understand what you gain in telling me this.â
âI don't gain anything. I'm looking out for you.â
âBullshit.â
You wanted to leave his lab now. Miguel saying that too only made your crush on Logan even worse. Your mind now realizing that there's a possibility Logan likes you, but you were frustrated since you were so close to saying to Miguel that you like him. Just to see what he would say.
You grab his remote to the platform, lowering it to his surprise. You had to walk away and calm yourself down.
âWait, what are you doing?â
âIt's getting late and I should go home.â
You try to step off, but Miguelâs in front of you, panic in his eyes. âDonât leave.â
âYou were trying to convince me that another guy I've been around only wants to get with me. For what reason? Because youâre my friend? Don't play with me, Miguel.â
You try to go past him, but he's quick, taking your hand and spinning you around. You almost fall against his chest, but he keeps you upright, looking up at him with confused eyes.
âI'm sorry. I wasn't trying to make you angry at me. I just-â Miguel bit the inside of his cheek, words at the tip of his tongue. You don't say anything, waiting for him to say what he wanted to say. âI'm only saying this because IâŚI have feelings for-â
âMiggy!â Lyla called from above his shoulder, âWe just got information back on-oh.â She noticed the two of you. âOh no, was I interrupting something?â
âYes.â
âNo!â You quickly pull your hand away from Miguelâs. âHe was just seeing me off. I'll head out now.â
Miguel called your name, âDon't go yet.â
âIt's alright! I don't want to take you away from work.â You say goodnight to the two of them, booking it out of his lab.
Was he about to confess?
Confess what? That he liked you? It was absurd. Impossible. Miguel didnât want you that way. At least you thought. Yet, when you came in the following day, he barely looked at you. He only said a simple good morning before continuing his leadership duties.
If he liked you, then why was he avoiding you? None of it made sense and you were trying to figure it out.
âYou alright?â Logan asked, taking you out of your thoughts. Youâve been staring at the list of anomalies to send home for the day.
âYeah, yeah Iâm okay.â
You proceeded to get rid of your confusion about the man that was Miguel OâHara by bringing up the next anomaly. Logan doesnât accept your words when he placed a warm hand on your shoulder.
âDonât know about that. The big guy didnât stop by today to annoy the hell out of me, so somethingâs up.â
You grimace, thinking about the conversation last night. Would it be okay to tell Logan what Miguel told you? As youâre aware, your crush for the hero with the metal claws was blooming too. You thought you were handling it relatively well compared to your one with Miguel. Maybe itâs because deep down inside, he might be right about Logan when it came to you.
âItâs stupid now that Iâm thinking about everything.â
âWell?â He folded his arms, waiting for you to continue.
âWe got into a disagreement last night. Miguel thinks that youâre being so flirty to me because you want to have sex with me.â
Logan sharply laughed. You tried not to let his apparent amusement sting your heart.
âSomebodyâs jealous.â
You shake your head, âThatâs not jealousy. He said it was out of concern.â
âAnd you believed him?â Your silence told everything Logan needed to know, making him chuckle once more. âI get it. Youâve seen yourself, princess?â
âI-huh?â
âYou heard me. Youâre not bad to look at. Iâm surprised heâs taking so long to confess to you.â Logan struts over to you, your back against the console. Heâs not trapping you, but the distance was closer than what you two have had before. âIâve seen the way he looks at you.â
âAnd how does he look at me?â
Loganâs eyes were filled with want as he traced your body. You didn't want to admit how much it was turning you on.
âHe looks at you the way I am now.â
You bit your lip, holding in a rising smile. You just received an indirect confession from a hero from another dimension. And an unspoken one from another hero in your universe. You canât believe it.
âHe doesnât look at me that way.â You try to shut it down and not get ecstatic at the idea of two men pining over you.
âWanna bet?â Logan gets closer to you now. You allow him, taking in hints of the whiskey you were able to swing him from the bar. âKiss me. See how he acts then.â
You let out a surprise snort. âLike heâs watching us right now.â
âYou think he isnât?â
You purse your lips, knowing itâs not uncommon for Miguel not to watch over areas of Spider Society to make sure everything runs smoothly, including your space. Logan lets you make the move, your hands moving along his yellow suit, feeling his pectorals. His dark eyes watch you intensely when you slide up to his neck, draping your arms around it. His gloved hands rest on your sides and it unironically makes you shiver. It's the most interaction youâve gotten in a while.
âGo for it, sweetheart.â
So you kiss him. The taste of alcohol on his lips incites you further. Your body pressed along his to feel more of his body. Loganâs hands map out your sides as if he doesnât want to touch you further than he is already.
Thatâs when a rush of air goes by you. Logan is gone, his body against the wall, cracks forming around where he landed. Miguelâs imposing frame towers over him, arm tight on his neck, keeping him there.
âGuess I was right.â Logan strained, a smirk plastered on his face.
âOh yeah? And I was right about you. Wanting to fuck her.â
âBefore you could?â
Miguel growled, his hold on Logan getting tighter. âYou really want to do this?â
âBuddy, Iâve been wanting to kick your sorry ass since the day weâve met.â Loganâs claws unsheathed and panic started to set in. You did not want them to fight right here.
âHold on, can we just take a minute to-â
They werenât listening to you when Miguel was flown back, slamming into a console. The electricity slightly glitched his suit as he gathered his bearings, eyes on Logan the entire time. The Wolverine crouched, arms out wide in his battle stance. Miguelâs mask was up, waiting for him to make the next move.
âGuys, please don't do this. I don't wanna see you two get hurt-â
You took cover behind a console as they started to fight. Bits and pieces of technology flown everywhere. Strands of Miguelâs webs on the side. Marks from Loganâs claws all over. Bits of blood staining the floor and you weren't sure who it belonged to.
To say you were scared was the wrong word to use. Because you weren't, despite your head filled with your fast-paced heartbeat. Oddly, you were flattered.
After all this time of thinking you weren't the person Miguel wanted, the person Logan was into changed in a moment. They were fighting over you. You.
You liked it but didnât want them to kill each other over it.
âLyla?â You called the AI, who showed up in an instant.
âHang on, I'm getting several system failures from the Go Home machine-oh my god.â
âYeah. Can I get some help in here, please?â
Not long after, the men were separated. Some spiders held Miguel back while Logan had to be locked up once again to calm down. All of your coworkers were shocked at the destruction those two caused.
âUhh what happened?â Jess asked Miguel, who didnât say anything. He brushed by her to cool off. So she asked you, and you tried to come up with an answer that didn't sound weird.
âMiguel and Logan just had a misunderstanding.â
She pointed to the torn-up console that was currently being repaired, âHow is that a result of a misunderstanding?â
You shrugged, struggling to say something cohesive. âI don't know. It's like I blinked and they started trying to tear each otherâs throats out.â Because of you, but you didnât add that part.
Jess rubbed her temples, âAlright. I'll talk to Miguel later. Are you okay, though? They didn't get you, right?â
âI'm fine.â You show her that there wasnât a scratch on you. âIs it okay if I leave early though?â
âYeah, go for it.â
You decided to stay home after that dayâmore out of embarrassment than anything. No one at Spider Society probably knew about the reason Miguel and Logan were fighting yesterday. Well, Jess might, but not anyone else. It felt embarrassing because you secretly liked it. Two incredible men in their respective fields want you, a random citizen.
You didnât say a word to them when you left, so you couldnât leave them high and dry.
Thatâs why you called Lyla, giving her instructions to have Logan stay until the end of the day if he showed up again and to call Miguel back to the Go Home machine around the same time. You needed to get yourself ready for what you wanted to say.
Time went by so fast for you.
It did not give you enough time to properly rehearse or to calm the anxiety stuck in your throat. Your shower went on forever, and you were sure you sat in your room for almost an hour trying to figure out the clothes you would wear as if you needed to woo them more than youâd already had.
You steeled yourself when walking into Spider Society, settling on a simple hoodie and jeans. You could barely hear yourself think as a few spiders greeted you, some asking why you werenât here today. You didnât have much time to talk, so you used an example of taking a mental health day. Because you absolutely needed it.
Thatâs when you walked to the machine room and saw Logan there, just as you expected. Margo was there too, and she was showing him how to play one of her favorite mobile games, which involved slashing fruit.
âHey.â
Miguel appeared beside you, almost scaring you. âOh geez, hey.â
âAre youâŚdid you want to-?â
âHey, hey!â Margo interrupted, greeting you with a wave. âI heard you were sick.â
âI took a mental health day.â You explained, âSorry, I shouldâve told you.â
âItâs alright.â She waved it off, âI was playing games with this guy all day.â Margo motioned to Logan, who didnât say anything, folding his arms.
âGo home. Iâll take Logan back for you.â
You can see Margo wanting to question it despite hearing you needed a mental break. But there was an unknown tenseness in the air, and she was a smart girl.
âUh, okay. See ya, Logan. Bye bye, boss.â Her avatar dissipated, leaving you three alone.
âYou alright?â Logan asked to cut the silence.
âI'm fine.â You reassured.
âAre you sure?â Miguel stepped closer to you, âA lot happened that day, and part of it was my fault.â
âDonât hog all of the blame.â Logan grunted, âIt was my fault too.â
âYou're both okay.â You reached over and took one of their hands, squeezing them affectionately. âI just didn't want you two to kill each other.â
âLike he would've tried.â
Miguel side-eyed Logan momentarily, âI could've given different circumstances.â
âSure, bub.â
âOkay!â You focus their attention on you, not wanting to cause another fight. âI wanted you two here to address the giant elephant in the room.â Their intense eyes on you make you a little nervous, sweat clinging to the nape of your neck. You weren't sure what their reactions were going to be. If, after all of this, you needed to find a new job.
âI like you, " you say to Miguel. A light flickers in his crimson eyes, and you notice him trying to hold back a smile.
âI like you too.â
That confirmation boosts your confidence a little.
You then turn to Logan, âI like you too.â
âYou're not too bad yourself.â He casually said. âDonât know how the big guy is gonna take it.â
âI'm right here.â Miguel scowled at him before focusing on you. âWhat are you trying to say?â
âWhat I'm saying isâŚI want you both.â
It was a big risk saying something like that to both of them. None of them appeared to want to share their partner with another. Unless it's under specific guidelines. You didn't have any, but you knew how you felt. And if they didn't agree, maybe you were better off not being with anyone.
Miguel appeared to be hesitant, while Logan was hardly phased. âNot the first time I've had this offer.â
âIt's different, but I know what I feel for you two is real. And I'm open to trying.â
The gears are turning in Miguelâs mind as heâs thinking it over, his hand never leaving yours.
âOkay. I'll try for you.â
You shimmied with joy, pulling both of them in for a hug. You felt their hard bodies and tried not to focus on how different they were from your own. There were many rules you probably needed to set, but for now, you wanted to take it as is.
When pulling back, you stopped short between the two of them. Miguel captured your attention by turning your head towards him with his index finger.
âCan I kiss you?â
You darted down to his lips before nodding. Miguel quickly captured your lips with his. You thought your kiss with him would be gentle and light. Instead, you felt the desperation of finally being able to taste you after all this time. His groans resonated across your ears, letting you know how much he wanted you.
Miguel kissed you so much that you felt dizzy when parting, but Logan's chuckle brought you back to reality.
âWas he better than me?â
Miguel sucked his teeth when you pretended to ponder, âI think I need another reminder.â
Logan kissed you, parting your lips to slip his tongue inside. He also groans in your mouth, a steady hand on your hip. You had to grip Miguelâs shoulder to keep balance when you parted again, also dazed.
âWell?â
âIt's about the same.â
The two men groaned simultaneously, hoping you would say which one was better.
âYou look pretty like this.â
âFor once, I agree with him.â
That's when they began their journey of your body. Logan latched on to your neck, kissing and sucking on it while Miguel peppered your face with kisses, managing to capture your lips a few more times. They lingered on their respective sides, caressing your breasts, fingers tracing down your back, groping your ass.
Logan took over momentarily, your back against his chest while he sucked on your neck again. Miguelâs kisses on your lips silenced whatever escaped from your own. Their movement were picking up in speed, and you faltered trying to keep up with them.
âFuck.â Logan paused, sniffing the air. âYou smell delicious.â
You started getting flustered, âWhat? Don't tell me you canâŚâ You squeezed your thighs together.
âI can smell you too.â Miguel sniffed, his being a bit more discreet.
This was about to be a problem. If you didn't say anything, you were sure clothes would be thrown all over the consoles. You didnât need yet another scandal in the Go Home machine.
âLetâs go somewhere more private.â
That's how you managed two superheroes in your apartment. Two horny ones at that. Some part of you wanted to pinch yourself to wake up from a dream. The way their eyes stared you down, blown from lust, standing so close to you that you could feel their body heat. But this was real.
âIf any of you guys are uncomfortable-â
âIf we were uncomfortable,â Miguel started, unzipping your hoodie and tossing it to the side. " We would've said it, right?â
Logan grunted, coming around from behind and raising your arms. He pulled your shirt off in one motion, leaving you in your bra.
âYou okay with this, princess?
His whispering made goosebumps form on your skin. âObviously, since I started all of this.â
âJust checking.â
Logan picked you up, angling you in a way that allowed Miguel to remove your shoes and jeans. When he settled you down, Miguel wanted to admire more of your exposed skin. His fingers circled along your plush thighs. Logan's centered along your breasts, pushing them up against your bra and making you sigh in relief.
You didn't want to get too caught up in your pleasure, noticing the guys still had on their suits. You reach over to Miguel, feeling his chest to see how to remove the suit, but he stopped you with his hand on top of yours.
âI got it.â
With his watch, his suit is gone. Only leaving him in his boxers.
Logan grumbled, âShow off.â
You turn around, your back against Miguelâs chest. You felt his lips on your neck as you went to help Logan with his suit. Having a little difficulty with the multiple kisses he gave you on your lips, forehead, and cheeks. He helped you by guiding your hands to his zipper. As you pull it down, Logan pressed against you, practically sandwiched between two half-naked, bulky guys. Who couldn't stop kissing and touching you.
Your hands brushed along their hairy chests, noting how Miguelâs was softer than Logan's coarse strands. Suddenly, you were being picked up and laid flat on your comforter.
Both men were on each side of you, the bed slightly creaking from the extra weight.
âWhoever breaks my bed is gonna pay for it.â
Logan tsked, âSay that to money bags over there.â
âI'll take responsibility and get you a better one if it happens.â Miguel reassured you.
As they spoke, your bra was removed with one hand by Logan. Your panties were pulled down and thrown away by Miguel. Cold air hitting your cunt told you exactly how wet you were, aching for more.
âI'm eating her out. Since you stole my kiss.â
Miguel told Logan, who scowled, clearly not happy about it. But got over it once his lips trailed down to your breast, taking your nipple in his mouth. Miguel matched him, latching on to your other breast. His hands trailed down your stomach and to your aching cunt. You felt him falter when his middle finger went in your soaked hole.
Logan wrapped his arm around your thigh, spreading you wider for Miguel to continue pumping into you. You were having a hard time keeping quiet between Miguel lazily pumping two fingers into you while Logan was determined to create marks on your skin. Hands tangled into their hair, tugging on it occasionally to replace your moans. The action spurs them on even further.
Miguel trailed his lips down, across your stomach, appreciating the fat you have and running his tongue along your naval. So slow. So agonizingly slow. He gives you mercy by continuing his journey down, kissing on your inner thighs. Logan maneuvered so he was behind you again, your head resting comfortably along his chest while you were spread wide for Miguel. Heâs hovered above your aching cunt, eyes glazed over at the sight of you.
âLet me know how she tastes.â Logan said while nudging into your head. His large hands cupped your breasts.
Miguel groaned against your sex when he dived in. His tongue parted your folds, his lips closing in to suck on your clit. There was no point in being quiet anymore, you moaning loudly as Miguel ate you out. One hand slid down his curls, creating a solid grip that could pull his hair out. Logan wasnât missing out as he continued to massage your breasts, his beard scratching along your face. You grip the nape of his neck, pulling him into a messy kiss. Tongues dancing amongst each other.
You were getting double the attention. Your body heating up at the pleasure. Miguel groaned against your drenched cunt, not stopping once to take a breather. He made sure your legs remained spread with his hands holding you down.
Even Logan didnât let you try and move to escape your impending climax. Your breaths picked up, your lips wavering against his, your eyes rolling back. Miguel kept going as your body exploded with immense ecstasy. Your cries being a work of art and an indication of how good both of them made you feel.
You felt like you were floating as they kept prolonging your orgasm. Miguel lapping at your sex and Logan pinching your nipples.
âThat means I can fuck her, right?â
It was Miguelâs turn to scowl at Logan. âNo. Iâm already in this position anyway.â
âBut you got to taste her. Now, I get to fuck her.â Logan proceeded to move you around, but Miguel stopped him with a hand on your ankle.
âNo way.â
âGuysâŚâ You mumble, slowly gathering your bearings. You feel eyes on you when you roll over to the nightstand, pulling out your box of condoms. You toss them to Logan before giving Miguel a sympathetic look.
âNext time, okay?â
Before he could express his opinion, you crawl over to him, tracing your fingers around the lining of his boxers. You wiggle your ass and glance back at Logan, permitting him to pounce on you. You notice the apparent tent in Miguelâs boxers before pulling them down. His cock was huge with a slight curve, pre cum leaking from his tip. You make kitten licks around his lip as Logan gripped your hips, his cock rubbing against your ass cheeks.
He sunk into you, causing you to shiver in ecstasy. You moan against Miguelâs shaft, licking up and down. His hand had a gentle grip on your nape as he watched you.
âTan bonita, nena (So pretty, baby)âŚâ
You whimper when Logan slid out of you before thrusting back inside. The thrusts strong enough to have you jolt against Miguelâs cock.
âFuck meâŚâ Logan grunted, creating a delicate rhythm with his hips. âYou feelâŚoh fuckâŚâ
You moan while taking Miguel in your mouth. You try to take as much as you could while stroking the rest, matching the rhythm Logan created. His grip on your hips get stronger as well as Miguelâs on your neck.
A symphony was conducted in the bedroom. Your moans blended in with Miguel and Loganâs, who were the main stars. Their grunts and groans as they filled you up on both ends played well with each other. All you could do was take it, drool seeping down Miguelâs cock, creating more lubrication for you to stroke.
Loganâs grunts change pitch, getting deeper. His thrusts were getting disorganized, desperate to reach his peak. Miguel was on the same end. His hips push forward in your mouth, not enough to make you choke. Both of his hands are on your neck now, creating a faster rhythm to finish.
You wondered who was going to finish first.
âIâm about toâŚâ Miguel warned you, ready to pull out, only for you to keep him there, still sucking his soul out.
âS-So am I-â Loganâs grunts turn to outright whines when he comes, latching on to your hips. Miguel isnât too far behind when after a few more thrusts, his cum coat your throat. You swallow it all, not missing a single drop.
As Logan pulled out of you, Miguel moved you to rest your head, his bicep under it. Your hand grazing Loganâs chest when he lies beside you, capturing your breaths, allowing the space to reach a comfortable silence.
You tried not to let your thoughts wander to what would happen next. If all of this would be a one-time thing and everything would go back to normal tomorrow, you didnât want to ruin the moment.
âIâŚâ Miguel spoke against your head, âI thought weâd go on a few dates before this happened.â
You snickered, âWe can still go on dates. Since this is going to be serious, right?â
âRight.â He kissed your forehead.
âIâve always wanted to go to the aquarium.â You then smack Loganâs chest to capture his attention. He was on the verge of falling asleep. âHey, you wanna go to the aquarium one day?â
âAnything you wanna do, Iâll do too.â He said with a short shrug. âJust give me a heads-up first.â
âGot it.â
Getting an overwhelming sense of gratitude, you gently kiss Miguelâs lips before leaning over to do the same to Logan. Your heart was whole and ready for this new chapter in your life.

the leaks:
skimming through the entire chapter 431 with my rough translation skills.
Uraraka's Quirk Counseling expansion seems to be her (and Tsuyu) trying to single-handedly screen for problems and child abuse by spending one month at every single (elementary) school/school district? They're helped by volunteer heroes.
She's also helped by Hawks, who negotiating with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and other organizations to provide support to change quirk education.
She is the best hero. đđđ
My worries about quirk counseling have been slightly mollified by this. Slightly. It's geared towards very young children, and we don't see the actual counseling, just Heroes spending time with kids to make sure they're not showing signs of distress, but it's nice to see this tiny glimpse.
Uraraka has dreams about Toga, and wonders if Toga left her blood/quirk/will inside of Uraraka similar to how OFA functioned. Uraraka can't remember the content of the dreams, though, and wonders if Toga is trying to send her a message.
Deku says he's developed a policy to help students develop their quirks. He also goes around to elementary schools and facilities and give lectures, sharing his experiences with young girls and boys.
Shouto has taken up pottery-making classes, after thinking a lot about fate and inevitability and his path
The entire class mobilizes to capture a car thief who may or may not have used his quirk - alert said that if he does just his quirk, it might cause a big accident? idk about this part.
When Deku asks Uraraka out, Uraraka finally remembers her Toga dream, which is Toga telling her that just like how Toga lived as she liked, Uraraka should live as she likes. So Uraraka says yes to going out with Deku.
.â ď¸â ď¸â ď¸.
Laughing so hard because 'go live as you please!' is so Toga! It's Toga's ideal and guiding principle. She clung to being her quirk-influenced, bisexual-love, creepy-smile self, fighting to love and die as herself. She would be happy for Ochako following her heart! But did it have to be the most conventional hetero cutesy romcom shit.
The OFA-esque accumulation of will and power of Toga's quirk and love and ideals............... to encourage Ochako to date Deku.
I don't believe the League is mentioned at all by name except for Toga via Uraraka's dream, and one line from Shouto saying he was praying at Touya's altar (thus confirming that Touya is dead).
AFO is mentioned but in context of young heroes deriving their impressions of heroism from the AFO battle? idk about this part.
Two flashbacks to Shigaraki, from Deku.
First is Deku flashbacking to him inside Tenko's heart, holding Tenko's hands, as he talks about how even if he had OFA, he would still come to want to be a teacher.
(Feel like this is interesting because AFO has always been 'Sensei'/teacher to Shigaraki. In a way it feels like Deku is trying to be a Good Teacher to AFO's Bad Teacher, I guess?)
Second is Deku ruminating on Shouto's talk about 'inevitability' and how he's doing everything he wanted, and he's blessed. He flashes back to Shigaraki's "Really, do your best," which is when he also notices Uraraka laughing and get heart eyes.
So i'm laughing again that even without a dream ghost, Shigaraki's words about destruction also gets used and recontexted to fuel Deku/Ochako.
Did that extra panel of Shigaraki's almost-smile in Chapter 423 come about just to give us this ~*~parallel~*~???
It's pure gold. Villainous creeds (Destroy everything / Live as I please) ultimately used to not even prop up the Heroes doing heroic stuff related to the society that the Villains were rebelling against... but rather to get Deku and Uraraka on a date.

I hope itâs ok if I rant a little about MHA because your post about Endeavor walking free reminded me of how detrimental some of the messages MHA can be. (Iâll try not to write much, feel free to delete this tho!)
It is so frustrating how the story doesnât linger enough on the weight killing people that have yet to commit a crime, people that are a threat to the status quo, holds.
Sometimes I legit feel insane because people will be saying things like, âHe could be a threat, so of course they should kill him.â And then talk about Deku and class 1A âchanging the world for the better,â when the series doesnât care to unpack its systematic issues past individual issues + the series essentially maintained the system that failed so manyâresorting to reforms and expanding programs doesnât actually solve the problem imo.
And itâs so hard nowadays to even try to have a conversation that entails criticism of the story, when so many fans fall for the condescending righteousness the story feeds as a response just because it came from heroes. Even though the story itself presents reasons why we shouldnât blindly trust heroes (Endeavor literally right there) đ¤Ś
Like, the story presents characters being oppressed and the ultimate response to their plight is constantly, âJust be a better victim.â The whole situation with Touya and Endeavor + what Deku says to Touya, is absolutely insane to me.
It made me sick to see people saying, âThis is what Touya always wanted.â This is what people are taking away from the story, when many people who grew up being abused and didnât fit the âperfect victimâ criteria will tell you how fucked up that ending was.
Anyway, sorry for ranting. Itâs so hard to find people who understands criticism in the MHA fandom đ The story has a lot of good points and potential, Hori just couldnât handle it properly.
I am ALWAYS happy to listen to bnha rants!! I devour the bnha critical tag like a wild beast lmaoo
As for your thoughts, 100% agree. I feel like a big part of the problem is that the story spends so much time setting up systematic issues and then just..drops them? Acts like they don't exist? And instead it redirects all blame and reason to indovidual problems, like Endeavor for example. Touya became a villain because of Endeavor..but the conditions under which he became a villain could have been massively prevented if the ranking system didn't exist and if so much value hadn't been placed on it. Or if the wealth and privilege that being a hero had brought to Endeavor hadn't let people turn a blind eye to his bullshit. Because are you really telling NO ONE had even an inclination that something was wrong in that household? Really?
This also applies to Tomura. In the beginning The Walk where he spent some amount of time on the streets without anyone helping him seemed very important to his backstory. He didn't become a villain just because his father was a pos, he becane a villain because the state of heroism led to a society that glorified heroes to such an extent that people didn't help a bloody kid on the street because a 'hero would'. But instead most of his memories Deku interferes w are about the Shimura household instead of the very important bystander syndrome. And THEN to top it all off, we learn the stupid 'AFO orchestrated Tomura's whole life' thing. I cannot find the right words to express just how much I loathe that.
Anyway, Touya and Tenko are just two examples. Overall, the story chooses to resolve individual problems (and how well even those are resolved is certainly debatable) and frame them as the leading causes of villainy when its mostly systemic issues that cause it and then act like there were no systemic issues in the first place. I mean, literally no one has a problem with the HPSC casually having private assassins to commit extrajudicial murder, so. Guess Nagant should have just been "optimistic" and waited for someone to, idk, topple the literal government.

I see that you're anti Bakugou blog, can I ask something because I'm really curious? Don't worry it's not hate ask (even if I'm Bakudeku shipper).
What I want to ask is the same in this post :
"I get preferring other ships, but if you hate them (BKDK), cannot stand them... you don't love the story. How could you? The narrative is built around their relationship. How they feel about each other at any given time is how you can tell the story is progressing. In both cases, they want to compete and surpass each other, which motivates them to train harder, to be better.
This is also why I don't get people who say they love one character but hate the other. Like, you cannot love Midoriya while hating Bakugou and vice versa.
They don't need to be your favorite characters, but you have to recognize their importance to your fav and their character arc. That is simply logical, in my opinion."
Thoughts, please?
First of all thank you for the question and not sending any hate comments that's very appreciated by me!
This is an interesting perspective and interpretation of the series, even if I don't see eye to eye with you or agree with this interpretation thank you for sharing it.
To begin this of I want to say that I don't particularly agree with the statement that you provided above. While the story in itself does revolve around izuku and bakugo to an extent its not exactly that big and I would argue that it shouldn't be that big of an involvement overall.
Izuku and bakugo's rivalry or the extended version which is the Canon one harms both the characters and the plot. This is because of how their rivalry naturally is which is toxic. @sapphic-agent goes into depth about how the wonder duo fails and of the toxicity of their supposed rivalry.
From the beginning izuku and bakugo's relationship was unhealthy whether that be from izukus non stop admiration even when bakugo abused him or bakugo who thought that izuku was a nuisance in his path. I think the best route for bakugos character was for him to ditch the rivalry route towards anyone. Bakugo as a character needed to accept that there are various people who will be weaker or stronger or different than him. He also needed to accept that society proping him up as this next big hero and ultimately feeding his ego was also wrong.
In the end I still have a lot of issues with bakugo's character individually that I did talk about previously and I think that overall he should of had an arc of breaking down his harmful thoughts, beliefs and behaviours. His arc needed more focus on his character and how he treats other people not just izuku.
I also want to argue that bakugo's arc isn't that well written at all. He doesn't really change and the change we do see from his underwhelming due to a number of reasons whether that be his horrible apology or his behaviour not really changing and being played off as a gag or the way we see bakugo still uphold his old behaviour heck it's all around his arc him being the only character to follow the idea of not saving someone or him just being hyperfixated on a rivalry that doesn't have equal footing.
I think the bakugo vs izuku fight part 2 showed a lot of bakugo and izukus problems within their relationship really well. I also think that was the arc where bakugo should of been separated from izuku having people acknowledge the toxicity of their relationship as bakugo thinks izuiu owes him an explanation when he doesn't or how izuku is supposed to overcome his admiration for bakugo and realise that what bakugo did to him was wrong. @delawaredetroit made a lot of analysis based on that fight which I think is worth checking out because they point out good bakugo critiques that horikoshi doesn't address and simply let's slide for bakugo while painting his and izukus relationship as perfectly fine and a healthy rivalry that moves the story.
In the end for bakugo he becomes a character attached to izuku ultimately having no real relevance outside of izuku and that sucks for him as he isn't even able to grow an we aren't able to see that change with the way he Interacts with the world.
Now moving onto izuku's character. Izuku due to horikoshis writing decisions also suffered a lot due this supposes rivalry. Izuku doesn't ever acknowledge the abuse that bakugo committed ultimately since he doesn't ever get to either introspect or freely express emotions about this issue his whole character starts to lack introspection and hinders him from forming valuable character relationships that can help push the narrative forward as he comes to understand heroes, civillians and villains alike. Izuku also never gets a say in the relationship he ultimately becomes more passive and a shell of his former self as the series goes on to the point that we don't see him react to losing his quirk (no the moment is focused on bakugo crying instead) and we don't see izukus response to the apology that bakugo offered.
It seems that throughout their relationship izuku who once had potential and so much going for him went through one of the worst cases of character regressions and assassinations that I have ever seen . At least before the rivalry started we saw izuku express fear, awe, anger and so many more emotions towards bakugo but now he is an empty shell a clean slate that cannot feel any negative emotions towards him at all.
Going back to my original point the narrative isn't fully built around their relationship and while they do have major themes such as win to save and save to win, their relationship in itself doesn't bring much to the narrative it actually just harms their characters and makes them lack depth even more.
Izuku already has a character who is supposed to be his rival, whose supposed to challenge his views, whose supposed to understand him and be understood by him and that character is shigaraki yet horikoshi doesn't build up on their relationship and only throws parallels around when it comes to those two making the final war arc a dissatisfactionary and disappointing rollercoster filled with mountains of wasted potential.
From the beginning the story to me had a clear path that bakugo wasn't supposed to be a primary character in the series he was supposed to be something that izuku overcame, he was supposed to be a challenge that showed the damage that society caused but that wasn't the case and the direction that hori took the story ended up harming every aspect of the story whether that be the unexplored plot point of quirkless discirmation (which many speculate is unexplored to make bakugo not look bad) or the final fight between shigaraki and izuku that lacked any build up whatsoever (toga and ochako had a better one because they had time to develop)
So to sum it up while the two characters relationship is present within the series its not a well written one at all and it isn't a primary relationship that develops both izuku and bakugo but more of a relationship that develops bakugos character and hinders izukus character.

đ Major SATSV Spoilers đ
I recently saw SpiderMan: Across the Spider-Verse, and it was amazing. I love all the hype the movie is getting, however, Iâve been seeing a lot of Gwiles (Gwen x Miles) slander for the dumbest reasons ever. So, I thought I would just debunk some of them because itâs clear you antis struggle with media literacy. Letâs go.
1. âGwen and Miles shouldâve just stayed friends; they were so much better platonicâ
Saying this just makes me think you watched the first movie with your eyes closed. In what world were they ever âjust friendsâ?
You canât say they were better platonic when they were never even platonic to begin with. Both Miles and Gwen had a mutual crush on one another in the first film, so they were never âjust friends.â The first film was literally building up their relationship.
2. âďżźGwen betrayed miles in SATSV; sheâs fakeâ
No, she didnât. Gwen didnât invent the laws of the multiverse, and she doesnât run the Spider Society. Itâs not Gwenâs fault that Spider-Man becoming an orphan, or half an orphan, is a multiversal constant. ďżź ďżź Thereâs nothing in her power she can do to change that. Miles being chased by the Spider Society wasnât Gwenâs fault eitherâthat was Miguelâsďżź. Saying things like, âshe should have told Miles about what was going to happen to his dad,â again just makes me think you watched the movie with your eyes closed. Gwen wasnât even allowed to interact with Miles. If she told Miles (a Spider-Man who isnât even part of the Spider Society) about what was going to happen to his dad, Miguel wouldâve kicked her out. She was almost kicked out in the first place just for talking to him; If that had happened, sheâd be homeless, becauseâjust in case you forgotâher dad disowned her after holding her at gun point. Gwen quite literally had no other choice but to comply with Miguelâs rules. She also states in the movie that she didnât know how to tell him, which makes sense given that she hasnât seen him in over a year. How would something that big and consequential even come up in a conversation? Not to mention, sheâs young and inexperienced as a hero. Sheâs gonna screw up and make mistakes. She was put in a completely unfair situation by the adults around her and had an enormous amount of pressure put on her shoulders. ďżźBlaming the teenage girl for a situation like this, instead of Miguel, Jessica, or Peter B. is absolutely wildďżź.
3. âThey have No chemistryâ
Now, this one is just completely biased. You know damn wellâŚ
these stills alone just prove you wrong. No way you watched the movie, saw the way they looked at each other and interacted, and actually said, âthey donât have chemistry.â đ
4. Interracial Relationship Backlash
Lastly, Iâve seen people hate on Gwiles solely based on the fact that itâs an interracial relationship. The fact that this is a problem in 2023 is absolutely mind-boggling. Some of you are just racist bigoted people who need to learn how to stfu.

On the Matter of Quirk Counseling
So one of the hot-button issues of the fan base is the subject of Quirk Counseling. That it's this horrific practice done to "deviants" like Himiko to make them normal, and it's what turned her into the person she is today. And with the ending, people thought that Uraraka working to spread it out over the country was a terrible thing and was only going to make more problems. Naturally, this is something I disagree with. At least, to the extent the fanbase takes it.
We're told that Quirk Counseling is a program that helps the youth understand and adjust to living in modern society. However, as we see with Himiko and her flashbacks, this kind of process can end up isolating people who don't fit in with that society. A pretty grim perspective on the world. However, I don't think it's the most reliable one. This is the kind of perspective we get from Chitose, who is someone who is radically opposed to how society handles Quirks and wants to destroy it, and Toga, someone who was hurt by this same process. So I think that paints a specific picture of the practice. One that may not be entirely true.
Because in spite of being such a big part of a major villain, we know very little about what Quirk Counseling entails. We're told by Midnight that every kid goes through Quirk Counseling during elementary school. So every character in the series must have undergone this same process at some point. During Tamaki's flashback, we see something like this going on in middle school. People being taught how to use their Quirks, at least in a basic way. This is later reinforced during the Remedial Course Arc, where the whole point is the heroes helping to teach kids about their powers. All in all, it doesn't seem that terrible, and it seems to work with a lot of people in the world.
This all paints a different picture of what exactly Quirk Counseling entails. Because when we see it in action, it's mostly just teaching people how to use their Quirks and helping them understand their own powers. Which isn't a bad thing. Quirks can be very dangerous and wild, even from a young age. It's important you know how it works, whether it be how it functions or how to use it. Better yet, how not to use it. Because, as we have seen, the unchecked usage of Quirks is going to be dangerous for everyone involved. Values like this need to be put into kids at a young age to keep any kind of peace or stability in the broader world. And it seems to work.
Himiko is an odd case within the world. Someone whose Quirk had a potent effect on their interests and personality, more so than any other person we've seen. She is an outlier. A deviant. Yet she was still a little girl that needed help. Maybe, if she had gotten the right help, she wouldn't be the person she is today. And that is part of the tragedy of Himiko. That the concept of normality has been so enforced that they can't even hope to properly help Himiko. The problem wasn't the system itself. The problem came in its inefficiency to handle cases like Himiko. Outliers that couldn't handle possibly fit within the brackets of "normal." And when all that pressure comes down on someone, they will eventually break under it.
It's why I don't think that Quirk Counseling growing is the problem everyone tries to make it out to be. Uraraka's helping to expand the system that is meant to help and teach kids about their powers. We've seen how that can help troubled kids. The Remedial Course is the prime example of that, where it's something that works with the kids rather than trying to strongarm them. And with that system growing, it will help to prevent cases like Himiko. It can help the kids learn about themselves and their powers. It can show kids not how to be "normal." But what they're going through isn't something they have to be afraid of and can live with. Just as Himiko could have. Expanding this isn't disrespecting her. It's keeping other kids to suffer like she did.

New leaks are out
Izuku loses One for All. The one thing he wanted in life was to be a hero, and we all know Horikoshi wouldnât let him be one without a Quirk. He got One for All for a year and change and then it just gets taken away from him.
Itâs so mean-spirited
*siiiiigh*
This shit. This shit is why I'm reluctant to catch up.
Worst thing is, this has been broadcasted as coming for awhile, because that MHA movie? Hero Rising, or whatever, the one where Izuku hands over OFA? If you believe (random shit I found on the internet) (which... admittedly, seems sus, I'm not sure of the validity) that was apparenlty supposed to be the original ending.
(Never mind that Bakugou only came into prominence after MHA got rolling, so unless he was forking it over to... I don't know, Shigaraki, or Uraraka, or Shoto (... my god, imagine the look on Endeavor's face if his anti-All Might child gained All Might's power and became his defacto heir, that'd be amazing) or something, that's already a different ending than the 'original' ending.)
That said, that rumor seems pretty damn validated now, doesn't it? I really don't get why Hori seems to hate his own character so damn much, because the first couple of chapters he seemed to like him well enough; the narrative respected him, he made sense, there was a steady build up of confidence and ability... and then he just... lost all interest, and just seemed to include him more and more grudgingly every time he showed up.
Considering how often the main character had to show up, it really feels like Hori built quite a grudge over the years. And between how damn hard Izuku has been side lined in every possible way, and how much Bakugou is being thrown into the spotlight, this really isn't surprising, all things considered.
A good deal of manga like to end with 'main character is brought down to normal', and honestly I've never liked it; I can only think of one where it was really done well, where I liked the ending (the main character never wanted it in the first place, he always wanted to be normal), and even in setting it only works because shonen manga in general love the 'secret world hidden from the rest of society' bit, so they can 'retire' gracefully to being a normal person without any issues (beyond probable PTSD), but in MHA they can't even do that, because there isn't a hidden world; Izuku is world famous, and without powers I'd honestly expect some random psycho to revenge kill him to get some fame, like that Ending guy.
(...I hate that that doesn't seem impossible still?)
Moreover, big part of that kind of build up is that the character has grown up, and doesn't need the super powers any more, to save the world from the world ending threat, to live the chunnibyo dream of being special instead of being part of society, but being a hero is a job, a career he can do for most of his life and make money in. The super police are still needed, because as far as I can tell, the overarching problems haven't been resolved at all. Just like how Naruto ended up, status quo is god, and the normal that was once terrible and to be fought against is good and just.
And, of course, he's just going to be happy about it, too, I know he is. That's how this kind of thing goes. He's going to be happy about losing everything he's always wanted, even though his friends (which he only got from being heroes) are still going to be heroes, even though Bakugou is almost certainly going to be number one at this point (speaking of which; whatever happened to the 'this is how I became the greatest hero' bit? Let me guess, he'll be referred to that somewhere, and that'll be it.)
He's going to be happy and content with what he was allowed to have (and even though he'll never be able to truly realize it, it is allowed, it's that Hori will allow him this much), and will never dream of wanting anything more. Just like an abused spouse in a truly fucked up marriage that has accepted that this is the 'best' they're going to ever get.

I legitimately hope that BNHA takes from American comics and allows for several people to work on the title. Vigilantes is proof that Horikoshi will allow for legitimate spin-offs and not just "oooo they're chibi" type spin-offs. I honestly think that Horikoshi would be okay with more spin-offs if they were good ideas. Here's some ideas that I would want to see get greenlit in order of what I want the most to least:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boku No Hero Career:
Basically just Deku trying to be an adult, while being a teacher, while being a hero. Basically, I'm asking for J. Michael Strazinski's run on Spider-Man. But I could specifically see somebody having a field day with how this new society works, and how hero-work is moving more towards helping the oppressed rather than fighting sludge monsters. There'd still be sludge monsters, I'm not trying to de-comicify My Hero, but it's a whole lot more of trying to fight the root of the problem. I think a strength of this potential story could be the use of non-violent conflict resolution. There'd obviously be action, but nothing bigger in scale than say the Overhaul fight. If you want to add inherent stakes, you can always have Deku's armor get damaged or something. Gun to my head, I could see the first long running arc about Deku and crew trying to end a prostitution ring. I also wouldn't mind an Izuocha subplot, but that's just my personal preference. I admit that part of this is just me missing JMS' Spider-Man run.
Skycrawler Adventures:
Okay I only had one cool title name; sue me. But I just want more of Koichi, man. Horikoshi has said he's a sucker for Spider-Man and at the very least one cover is literally a direct homage to Ultimate Spider-Man Vs. Venom. If BNHC is JMS' run on Spider-Man, this is Tom DeFalco and JM DeMatteis' runs on Spider-Man. It's that early 20's, post-college and in your first big kid job vibes. Maybe we start with Koichi starting up his own hero agency and struggling to maintain it. Maybe we finally make him canonically autistic? I admit I'm projecting with that one. But I think that Skycrawler Adventures could be like Chainsaw Man Part 2. Not exactly, but in terms of making this into an epic.
Boku No 52
This title requires some light explaining. Back in the day, DC had an event called 52. This came right after the event Infinite Crisis. After Infinite Crisis, the DC universe had a one year time-skip. However, 52 also released at the beginning of said time-skip. The premise of the book being that each issue would cover one week, and by the end of the series (which had 52 issues), you would know everything that happened during the time-skip. The only real caveat with this book being that Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman were practically off the table. So, you had to use more minor characters. The book had 4 all-star writers and it was an absolute smash hit. It's still beloved to this day. I think that BNHA could use something like this. It can even fit my prior two pitches in there. But you can also have chapters about the new class 1-A, Bakguo yelling at clouds, is Endeavor still trying to be a father, what is Momo up to, literally anything. You can have it showcase a bunch of new mangaka. I'm sure that Horikoshi had drawing assistants, let them have a shot at this. This one is definitely the least likely to get passed. But, I also think it has the highest potential.
I'm willing to bet that Jump DESPERATELY wants to have another Naruto or Bleach or One Piece. Specifically a manga line that lasts for a STUPIDLY long time that's extremely popular that they can ride into the sunset. I think that My Hero has that potential. I just think that they should keep Horikoshi as a consultant, and do brand new things.

Reading through the Heroes Ascension Book, and hereâs the stuff I found that seemed like set up for future, likely sidelined story content :/
But there are also hints for stuff that could show up in the main blame through interactions and some possible new characters.
Rebuilding Ruins: Symmetra/Lifeweaver Story
⢠â Lifeweaver is living at the Atlantic Arcology, which comes under attack by Null Sector, which could have been a major problem due to their âguestsâ.
⢠â Symmetra is working against negative influences inside Vishkar, but how far that will get her is up in the air and Lifeweaver invites her to join him at the Arcology as a member of the âCollectiveâ, an altruistic group of scientists and intellectuals.
Unity: Orisa/Efi Story
⢠â Numbani comes under assault by Null Sector, with Humans defending their Omnic neighbors much more openly than other places.
⢠â Efi creates a bunch of small drones to help defend Numbani, so that Orisa and her can leave Numbani to help people.
⢠â Story ends with the pair planning on setting out immediately, and takes place around the same time as the Rio Mission, Efi may be seeking out Overwatch.
Luck of the Draw: Ashe Story
⢠â Ashe and the Deadlocks were attempting to break into the Las Vegas criminal underground.
⢠â Ashe nearly died defending BOB, who in turn is almost taken captive by Null Sector.
⢠â It confirmed damaging or removing the âhelmetsâ on an Omnic causes them to have a âseizureâ and die. (What the fuck Rammatra?)
A Friendly Rivalry: Junkers Story.
⢠â Junker Queen almost had Roadhog and Junkrat executed.
⢠â Junkrat reveals his secret treasure: A giant airship stored within the last remnants of the Omnium beneath Junkertown. Queen and Hammond begin making plans to get it airborne again.
Thoughtless Gods: Hammond Story (And boy these is a lot of worldbuilding in this one)
⢠â Direct sequel to the previous story.
⢠â Reveals that Omnics remaining in the Outback are oddly feral and corrupted in some fashion, cannibalizing each other for parts and actively âhuntingâ Junkers. Hammond has no idea what caused this.
⢠â Hammond remembers his time being experimented on the Moon Colony, he is apparently âolderâ than Winston has he gained awareness before hand, and sort of became a âbig brotherâ to Winston.
⢠â The apes and Hammond were not the first experiments. There were failures, apparently some other kind of animals, that are still up on the Moonbase. Hammond calls them âwrongâ.
⢠â The apes have a whole society, are building weapons and armor and may be constructing a whole new building/device on the Colony.
⢠â Possible hints at the Mars Colony.
⢠â Two apes are named. Oscar, unknown, and Dyson, a large, cruel Orangutan - feels like a character set up.
Where Honor Lives: Hanzo/Kiriko Story
⢠â Shimada weaponry have âspecial energy techâ, throws more confusion on the âis this magicâ question surrounding the Japanese characters abilities. The Hashimoto are attempting to copy the designs but âthey canât manifest the proper powerâ. (This seems to be due to Kirikoâs father purposefully give them shoddy work but they donât know that).
⢠â The Hashimoto can work with impunity in Tokyo, and are causing trouble even with Null Sector literally on the horizon.
⢠â Hanzo and Kirikoâs interactions again confuse the whole age gap, because he treats her as if she was a tween when he was a teen.
⢠â Hanzo joins Kiriko in protecting Kanezaka from the invasion.
Lost Ghosts: Soldier/Ana Story
⢠â Ana splits from Jack after learning heâs been sitting on the list of Overwatch agent names using it to track Talon movements and not warning the targets. She isnât joining Overwatch but is going to be trying to protect remaining Agents who havenât answered the Recall but are not yet dead to Talon.
⢠â We meet another old Overwatch agent Mirembe, who is thinking about answering the Recall, I think sheâs the woman that was standing in the group photo from Anaâs trailer.
⢠â Another, Kimiko, is named.
Lucky Man: Soldier/Sombra Story
⢠â Sombra has been leaking info to Soldier, because she believes the cabal she is after is also to blame for that happened in Zurich.
⢠â Jack has been hunting Talon as a proxy because he never truly believed they took down the HQ. He also doesnât believe Reyes knew what was going to happen.
⢠â Sombra and Jack seem to be set up to continue working together, and Jack is headed to Oasis hunting for more clues on the Cabal.

There's something I've noticed especially since chapter 431 came out and that is that I saw a lot of his stans criticism for making Bakugou centered on Izuku and not giving him his own independence as a character, and I think it's funny because Bakugou's character has the development he has because he's connected to Izuku, if he wasnât part of Izukuâs story he wouldn't have a narrative arc to develop. Some stans complain about it and even recognize that in the final arc of Bakugou contribution was minimal and he didn't really touch on important themes of the work, remaining only on the surface with the shiny but insignificant moments.
When I talk about his contribution being minimal is that Bakugou doesn't have a villain by himself, partly his development is just learning to play as a team but his final moment with Afo is even pathetic because the villain was already weakened and heâs the final blow (Tokoyami even had a quirk awakening much more powerful than Bakugou), his parallelism with the second user was random because each character at that moment wanted to fight to eliminate AFO, it was forced to bring that parallelism between the two when you have all the characters in the manga trying to do the same and considering that All Might had more power over AFO's emotional out of control than Bakugou himself. I can understand why someone would superficially watch the manga and say that Bakugou has the best ending (before chapter 431 according to his fans), but then you go to his final part and itâs so insignificant compared to the arcs of Shoto (who has his own narrative outside of Izuku), Ochako and her relationship with Toga and even Izuku and Tomura (as mistreated as their character treatment was), Bakugou doesnât represent any of the main message of the plot and his arc is a redemption, chapter 431 shows Bakugou stagnating because even if it isnât a big change, the society of heroes no longer needs heroes like him, that is why characters like Ochako, Shoto, Izuku and others have lives outside of heroism or seek to have it because at the end of the day the heroism of today's society is not fights with great threats but what would be more community work, preventing villains from forming because society has different tools than the expulsion of what they see differently (Ochako and her job) or even the initiative of the people around them who would see someone in trouble and try to act.I think there are many things I can criticize Horikoshi for in the entire manga, but I understand that the final message was that society, even slowly, is changing and that the role of heroes is also changing in some aspects (now children want to enter other fields, medicine, technology, etc.), in other words, it isnât All Mightâs era even though there is still a ranking, at least Iâm going to recognize that in Horikoshi's ending.
I mean yeah you're pretty spot-on with this.
It's only because of Izuku that Bakugou was given so much exposure in the first place. Not even because of Izuku's own development, just the fact that he's always been there to validate Bakugou's character. Always defending him, always there to shove his "good" traits in our faces, and always there to forgive him. Bakugou's redemption doesn't exist without being heavily reliant on Izuku because Horikoshi failed to take the time to separate him from Izuku.
Bakugou's redemption should have been an easy one. All it needed was him not consistently forcing his victim to be the one to deal with his shit. He constantly makes his problems Izuku's to fix, which just makes him look worse every time he does it. Because he couldn't make the change on his own, everyone- including his victim- did the work for him.
Keeping Bakugou and Izuku separate would have been the best thing for both characters. Bakugou stans are only realizing that now because this time it happened to be Bakugou that got "screwed over," not Izuku

Hey girl!!! I loved the Bayverse one!!! It was so accurate on how I have seizures!!! I loved it!!! I was thinking maybe that again but maybe the mha boys. I was thinking Shinsou, Bakugou, Deku, and Tokoyami. If thatâs to much then Iâm sorry!!!! I donât mean to make you uncomfortable!!!

Let's Learn Each Other (BNHA or Boku no Hero Academia)
Warning(s): Seizures (and again, it's in the ask, so...)
You worry you may be too much for your boy, but he's happy to assure you, you're worth it...
â¨â¨â¨â¨â¨â¨
Shinsou
Shinsou was so chill about everything, you felt comfortable enough to not mask your behaviors.
And he didnât pay them any mind until someone else pointed out that they werenât typical.
Which he didnât take very kindly.
They were offered a glare, âAre you saying [Name] has a problem?â
You had to hold back the laugh that wanted to escape from his protectiveness, âWell, itâs not a problem as much as aâumâcondition.â
âHuh?â
âTheyâre right, I donâtâI donât have normal behaviors, since Iâm autistic,â you explained.
âOh, I know you are,â he shrugged, âI just donât find any issue with it. Itâs a part of you and I like you, so it didnât make sense to make a big deal of it like itâs bad or something.â
He admitted that he noticed your tics and traits but quickly grew used to them and continued as normal.
He thought you were perfect for him, you were sensitive to touch, and he wasnât a touchy guy.
In the past, you would feel bad that you couldnât touch him like most couples did. Youâd force yourself to hold his hand despite the anxiety. Until he told you he wasnât a big fan, either.
You were direct, which was a trait he respected and valued.
And he honestly wasnât much of a conversationalist himself, so he didnât mind the communication issues you had.
And despite you not understanding many emotions, you easily flustered him.
âShinsou, your Quirk is so cool, you know that?â
âYou did a good job. Iâm proud of you.â
Cue a Shinsou with a flushed face avoiding eye contact.
Sometimes youâd think youâd embarrassed him until he tells you.
âNo, I justâŚstuff like that makes me a little shy sometimes, thatâs it.â
âYou donât like it?â
He shook his head, which he realized was probably confusing, âI donât mind when you do it.â
Since he was pretty aware of Autism before he met you, he could guess when you had a seizure for the first time on the couch...
Which was repetitive swallowing.
A focal seizure. It wasnât long, and it was subtle.
But he carefully watched you until it passed, âYou okay?â
You waited for a moment before you nodded.
âIâm okay now.â
âIf I didnât know any better, I wouldnât have thought anything of it.â
âPeople usually think of seizures as only being dramatic, obvious, and intenseâŚbut it isnât always that way. There just has to be more people out there to teach them.â
âYeah. Another thing this society has to change,â he picked up the remote to change the show.
âShinsou?â
âHm?â
âThank you.â
Midoriya (Deku)
âAutism?... I think I heard of it.â
A few minutes later Midoriya will have a clear notebook from who knows where, writing things down like a madman.
âOh! That explains why you do that head tilt thing a lot.â
In between the internet, he will ask you questions that are specific to you, outside of the general stuff.
He tries to ask questions sparingly so it doesnât get overwhelming.
âThey also mentioned seizures. Do you have those?â
âYes. Sometimes.â
Even though he now understands your behavior better, he will still misunderstand you for a few moments until he remembers.
Like when your bluntness can be offensive without intending to. But trust Midoriya wonât burst into tears, heâs had much worse things said to him.
Sometimes you will misread the mood, but heâll explain it to you.
You attempt to practice better communication skills, but heâll assure you.
âDonât practice too hard, [Name], you donât need to be perfect at it. Besides, IâŚdonât have the best communications skills, either.â
And sometimes, Midoriyaâs back and forth consistency throws you off.
But you both work to make the relationship good for the both of you.
And then he experiences a seizure experience with you for the first time.
Youâre in his room at home when your muscles suddenly go rigid.
Of course, youâre used to this happening, but you canât help the slight panic of sudden loss of control.
His first instinct is to panic, but he fights against it because he realizes you already are. He doesn't want to make it worse.
He quickly works on timing it while making sure to make youâre comfortable. He softly starts to tell you a story, his voice is calming and you start to freak out a little less.
Then, itâs finally over.
âHow are you feeling?â
âBetterâŚa little sore. But better.â
His brows furrowed as he thought, âThat was aâŚtonic seizure?â
âYes.â
âBefore I met you, I didnât realize there were so many different typesâHm, can I ask a few questions? So I can be better prepared, next time?â he quickly parted from you to find his spare [Name] notebook.
âYou didnât do too bad this time. But okay, go ahead.â
Bakugo
You would mask your behaviors around people. You were a hero in training, you didnât want anyone questioning your capabilities for something you couldnât change.
But Bakugoâs incredibly observant and picked up on a few things you let slip without realizing.
Once heâd watched you for a while, he approached you and got straight to the point. He wasn't one to beat around the bush.
âOi. Are you Autistic?â
âHuh? Yeah.â
âThought so.â
You were surprised Bakugo had approached you considering you actively avoided him.
You were sensitive to loud noises. Youâd learned to adjust to some sounds that couldnât be avoided as a hero, but his yelling still made you anxious as hell.
But right now, he was quiet. No yelling.
You thought that was the end of it, that he was just curious about your possible AutismâŚbut no, he kept talking to you. He kept asking you questions.
And you didnât mind answering them.
And along the way, you found yourselves in a relationship.
The class was wondering how in the world you tamed Bakugo, he wasnât yelling nearly as muchâŚwhen you were around, anyway.
But you didnât do anything. Behind closed doors, he was always relaxed, his speaking tone was even, and he was gentle.
You had to learn how to understand each other.
Bakugo was emotional and buried what he felt. He would keep to himself how he was feeling. And you werenât able to read his emotions sometimes.
So you learned to ask him.
âHey, Bakugo.â
âYeah?â
âHow are youâŚfeeling? You look tired, but you sound upset?â
And he learned to be more direct with his feelings, which helped you understand him better.
And sometimes, on accident, he would get a little loud, so you would ask for breaks, which he would give you.
Although Bakugo could be spontaneous, he was consistent with the things that mattered, so it made it a little easier for you to learn him.
Bakugo treated you like any other person, he didnât treat you like Autism was something strange or bad. He was protective of you, so if anyone talked about your behaviors or appearance, he would pull them aside to go off on them.
He showed interest in your interest. He loved when you would ramble about it and he would always remember what youâd say.
He had to compromise touch, since you craved it. He was surprised, but all you said was,
âItâs actually a myth that all people on the autistic spectrum are averse to touch. Some of us like it, depends on the person.â
But he found he liked it when you cuddled with him, so he didnât mind. It wasnât a bad compromise.
Bakugo likes knowing things, so heâll look stuff up and ask questions until he has a wide knowledge of Autism, your specific type, and everything about it. He learned about you outside of your Autism, your favorite foods, favorite color, any information he could get his hands on.
He paid special attention to information on your seizures.
Talked to you about them, watched videos, read books.
So when he witnessed it the first time, he was prepared.
You werenât, since it was in the common room and most of your class was there.
Everyone was panicking, this hadnât happened to you with them around before.
Kirishima rushed to get Bakugo from his room, let him know whatâs going on.
âShit. Is everyone panicking?â he rushed past his redheaded friend.
âIâWho wouldnât? It was just so sudden!â
Once he made it into the room, everyone was crowded around you.
And someone looked as if they were about to try and hold you down.
âBack up! All of you!â he barked out.
âBut Bakugoââ
âStop standing there like idiots and move!â he growled, pushing past them.
He started moving things away from you and carefully checked your breathing.
âHow long has it been like this?â
âN-Not longâHalf a minute, maybe?â
âOkay.â
He spoke quietly to you, apologizing that he wasnât there with you when it started, apologizing for the idiots making things worse.
âMaybe [Name] needs some waterââ
He turned to Kaminari, about ready to strangle him for the suggestion, âDoes it look like they can drink water right now? Does that make any sense to you?â
âRightâRight, sorry.â
âAnd all of you, back up some more or leave. I feel like youâre breathing down our necks,â he scoffed.
So they did, now it was just the two of you. Then you settled.
He waited for a minute, softly petting at your head until you could speak again.
âThank you, Bakugo.â
âHuh? For what?â
âHelping. They werenât being very helpful.â
âTheyâre the âpanic first, get into action laterâ types.â
âI noticed.â
âHow are you feeling?â
âI need water, I think. And cuddles, too. If youâre up for it.â
Tokoyami
He honestly hadnât noticed anything was unique about you until you told him you had Autism.
âOh? I hadnât noticed.â
He does ask you plenty of questions over the next few weeks whenever one comes to mind.
You find yourself fascinated by Dark Shadow, though you misunderstand some things he says to Tokoyami that make him flustered. It was always something about you.
You were also sensitive to bright lights, which made you perfect for Tokoyami. He wasnât a fan himself.
He showed devotion to listening to you about your interest, never seeming annoyed about the same thing.
He was very uncomplicated to you.
He spoke his mind, he was to the point. If he didnât tell you his emotions at first, he will tell you eventually.
Behind closed doors, he lets you gently pet his feathersâalthough they are sensitive, it relaxes you, so itâs the least he can do.
He also helps you find relaxation training, which you appreciate.
And one day, he experiences your seizure with you. He almost missed thatâs what it was, since you would stare off and get confused suddenly.
He kept the environment relaxed until the moment passed.
Which you were grateful for, but thenâŚ
âTokoyami. LetâsâLetâs take a nap.â
âThatâs a good idea, [Name].â
And a nap you took.

i want to know your opinion on something, do you think it's possible for Keigo to have a normal life, not just to want it? Because I had the cutest dream about him just holding his own kids, who are just asking him to play with him, in the countryside, far, far away from the city and I almost cried because he really deserves to have his own nice family and all the love in the world đđ
I really, really didn't want to write you some big long thing but I apologize in advance - I apparently don't know how to just.. write a couple sentences, lol.
So-
Tldr: yes and no.
with wings: no
no wings, as president: semi.
( i repeat a lot in this because i'm trying to get my point across, i'm just running on no sleep and feel like shit. )
Had it not been for the events of the Final War Arc, to be completely honest: no. i don't think it would be possible. As much as Hawks would want a normal life, I don't think.. he'd be able to fully walk away from being a hero as long as he had wings. It's basically all he's ever known at this point and walking away, becoming a part of normal society, none of it would be easy and I don't think he'd be able to do it. Not to mention, he'd have to go somewhere else - his image in the public eye probably wouldn't let him live normally. Anytime something happened, anytime someone saw him - it would immediately weigh on his shoulders to do something. Being Hawks would stop him from living a normal life. Because, let's take a step back and remember that he even had to use prosthetics in place of his wings because he couldn't just sit it out. Ofc, given the situation, he wouldn't have anyway - but my point is, he can't sit out on being a hero. He already thinks his wings are what make him a person to begin with, so.. the idea of him having a normal life while having wings or prosthetics, etc. It just.. doesn't work, as sad as that is.
However, being left quirkless entirely - I feel like he has no obligation to the life but as we can see in the end chapters - he still hasn't left everything behind. He assumed the role of president for the Commission. So, him moving off to have a normal life? Still.. sadly, not happening.
A semi normal life, still in the city, and being president? I think that's possible. Would it work out? He would need a really, really understanding partner to have that kind of life. Do you realize how busy he'd be as the president..? Not to mention, his s/o would have to put up with the fact he cannot and will not let go of being part of hero work one way or another. Whether he has a quirk or not - he is going to be on the scene. It's seen that he wants a normal life but I, personally, don't see him as capable of just having that.
Now.. if you want to remove the countryside part ( that we all picture for him---- ) and put him in either a nice apartment or a townhouse, with his kids and partner - sure. I could also see him having a smaller house maybe.. near the edge of the city, instead. The only problem I see and I know for a fact people are going to disagree with me: Hawks would have hell trying to balance this type of life and would most likely have trouble with kids.
Let me clarify: he'd most likely have trouble with the ideals of being a father, especially considering his own family life as a kid, he'd be paranoid he'd screw up but he'd also be over protective as living hell. but, there would also be the part of him struggling to make time.. being the president of the commission, being a father - he's never had to balance time that way.
I feel like I can't stress the struggle enough. I know everyone sees Hawks as being a very capable person, which he absolutely is, probably one of the most in the entire cast, but he would do his best. Like. the type to sit on the couch and cry at one in the morning because he feels like he's failing type of try his best.
+ He's going to need a lot of support, patience and understanding. He's going to need help.
He really does deserve it. He deserves the whole nine yards - house where he can't be bothered, kids running around, loving partner, etc.

The Problem with Leviathan
So I finally figured out the problem with season seven's Leviathan story. I always disliked the Leviathan as villains and could never quite put my finger on why. Part of it was the wasted potential--the end of season six promised Lovecraftian horrors (which I always thought was the perfect escalation in a literal post-Biblical Apocalypse) and then... didn't. But unfulfilled promises aside, I never understood why what we did end up with (Soylent Green by way of They Live) bothered me so much. But watching the opening of 07x22 (There Will Be Blood) it finally hit me.
See, in the scene, Dick Roman is doing an interview with a reporter discussing his company's move into corn syrup additives for food. As a viewer, we know this is Bad because we are aware of the Leviathans' plan to turn the entire of the human race into delicious dumb cattle for their consumption. But then it clicked that this has exactly zero impact on the main characters of the show. Let me explain:
The entire narrative of Supernatural up until this point is centered squarely on Sam and Dean. Even the end of the world was actually all about Sam and Dean's relationship. This is a fact, even if you don't bring in Chuck's zany meta-ness in the final season. Sam and Dean are the story. What the Leviathan's are up to, though? Nothing to do with Sam and Dean. It doesn't even have anything to do with their world. The boys live off the grid. They don't care about corporate scheming or government conspiracies. If it weren't specifically for the fact that they eat junk food, nothing the Leviathan's did would have affected them at all at this point. Hell, if the Big Mouths hadn't coincidentally attacked Jody at the beginning of the season, I'm not sure they ever would have found out anything about the Leviathan besides the fact they exist (since they witnessed Cas mpregging them before his "death"). In fact, in the latter half of the season, their investment almost solely hangs on the fact they're pissed Roman killed Bobby. Hell, if Roman hadn't dug up the Leviathan tablet (for reasons that are never explained to us, by the way) the Winchesters would have no way of stopping their plans. Almost everything that happens in this season is because of sheer coincidence.
It's not just that the Leviathan are lame and aren't scary (even though they are in fact lame and not scary), it's the fact that as a monster they don't work in the kind of world that Supernatural had built up in the previous six years. Oh no! And evil species of monsters have infiltrated all strata of society to turn us into hamburgers! How will our heroes deal with this? Uh, they bumble into the answer and solve it by stabbing things, like they always do. The horror in the show, even when it has broad-reaching implications, has always been very personal. Werewolves aren't scary because they eat people, it's because they can be normal people who otherwise live and love just like us. Demons aren't scary because they do shitty things, it's because they show the capacity of all people to become their worst selves. The Leviathan don't reflect the human condition in any way, and their commentary on corporate America doesn't work in a story where the protagonists don't work in regular society. The Leviathan are a warning of the dangers of blindly trusting corporations with our health and safety. But the Winchesters never did that. They're outcasts. They run credit card scams and sleep in abandoned warehouses and no-name hotels. They aren't the intended target, so they don't make good narrative foils.
But Dean eats cheeseburgers, so I guess we gotta stop these bastards before they take over the world!!

Zero Hour: Crisis in Time #4 (September 1994)
It's... CRISIS TIME! Listen, we're not in the habit of covering every issue of every crossover event Superman appears in, but we're making an exception for this one because: 1) Superman plays a prominent role (as do the characters in my other blog), 2) it's by two of the most iconic creators from this era, Dan Jurgens and Jerry Ordway, and 3) we just like this comic a whole lot. Still, we'll do our best to keep these posts shorter than usual so we don't spend forever in September 1994.
Fittingly for a series that begins at #4 and counts backwards, this issue starts at very end -- as in the literal end of time, when all that exists is the entropy crushing the universe (and Doomsday, but looks like he was too busy being crushed by entropy to appear in this comic). We see The Time Trapper, a hugely powerful villain with a control over time, being easily taken down by a mystery character who says he's going to "make things right."
(That's what you get for being an old villain in a comic where a new one needs to be established as a badass, TTT.)
Next, we see weird time-related things happening all over the DCU: Batgirl shows up in Gotham City with her spine intact, Dick Grayson is back to wearing green undies, Hawkman is now multiple Hawkmen, Flash is suddenly in the far future (historically, not a very good time for a Flash to be during a crisis), etc.
Superman's frenemies the Linear Men, the time police, notice that something is erasing time, starting at the end and moving backwards, as if God had said "screw it, let's start over" and was holding the backspace key on the universe. Linear Men Waverider and Hunter are sent to the 64th century to find out what's going on and, once there, they run into Flash -- and also a big wave of entropy eating the universe. Flash attempts to stop the wave of mutilation by just running really fast at it (which is how he solves most of his problems in his own comic), but the wave just eats him too.
A Flash died? Oh, now it's a real crisis.
The Linear Men's next stop is 58th century Star City, whose hero is a time-displaced younger version of Green Lantern Hal Jordan (we know he's younger because he doesn't have greying hair, and also he isn't homicidally insane). Before he and Young Hal are eaten up by the entropy wave, Hunter yells at Waverider to look up the word "crisis" in their archives. Back at Vanishing Point, the Linear Men's HQ outside of time, Waverider basically reads the Wikipedia article for Crisis on Infinite Earths and becomes one of the few people in the current DCU to learn the forbidden knowledge that there used to be a multiverse that got wiped out, leaving a single existing universe. The "existing" part might not last much longer, though...
While all this Linear Men stuff happens, we see a repeat of the scene from Man of Steel #37 when Metron of the New Gods comes to see Superman about the time crisis. Together they go off into Green Lantern #55 to ask for new Green Lantern Kyle Rayner's help in producing a hologram of Superman that Metron can forward to the DCU's other heroes. Green Hologram Superman gives everyone a little speech and asks them to come together to figure out what to do about the whole "time is literally ending" issue.
Metron personally visits The Spectre to ask for his help, since he's one of the most powerful beings in the DCU (and did come in pretty handy during the previous crisis), but Speccy is only interested in fighting evil, not "natural disasters" -- even universe-ending ones.
Meanwhile, Waverider learns that time is also being erased from the beginning, not just the end, and goes to warn the geezers at the Justice Society about it, I guess since they're so old and at risk of being erased any moment. Plus, they have a Flash in their team, so he's probably the most endangered being in the DCU right now.
As Waverider shows the old Flash what happened to his young namesake (he doesn't take it well), we see that someone has invaded Vanishing Point: this comic's villain, Hal... I mean, Hall, Hank! That is, Hank Hall, formerly Hawk of Hawk & Dove and Monarch of Armageddon 2001, and currently known as Extant.
And he's totally working alone, with no more dramatic revelations about heroes-turned-villains to come, nope. TO BE CONTINUED!
Poll-Watch:
The results for our Zero Hour Batmen art poll are just in (okay, they were in a few weeks ago, but we hadn't made a post since then), and the winner by a pretty decisive margin is: Neal Adams Batman! Don Sparrow will get working on that artwork -- which reminds me we have a winner for Don's original Maxima art giveaway, too: our old pal Chris "Ace" Hendrix! Congrats to Chris and whichever wall in his home is about to be blessed with a Maxima! To take part in future giveaways (including the Neal Adams bat-art), you can become a SUPporter via Patreon or our newsletter's "pay what you want" mode.
And speaking of Don, obviously he wasn't gonna miss the chance to gush about the art in this issue, so keep reading for that:
Art-Watch (by @donsparrow):
A short personal anecdote: With a September 1994 street date, the first issue came out on September 10th, and while I was reading the Superman books at this time, it was also summer, so I lost track a little bit of what was going on in comics. I knew from the in-house ads that Zero Hour would be big, and with the pedigree of Dan Jurgens and Jerry Ordwayâ1/2 of my personal Mount Rushmore of comics greatsâit was a series I wanted to pick up. So imagine my shock, after a busy summer, when I stopped in a comic shop (a new one that had just opened up, called Amazing Stories) to see Zero Hour #4 on the shelf! Sure, it was a busy summer, but how could I have missed three whole issues already?! I asked the store clerk if he had any copies of issues 1-3, and he said he didnât, and I certainly didnât want to pick up the fourth issue without the other three. So I went to the other comic shop in my town, 8th Street Books, which in those days was much more my regular store (I would later work at Amazing Stories, but thatâs a tale for another time) and they set me straightâI hadnât missed ANY issues, this series was numbered counting down, from 4 to zero, on a weekly basis. I wonder if any other kids were as thrown with the unique numbering system!
We start now with the cover, and itâs perhaps a strange one. Sure, the presence of some of DCs biggest heroes, namely Superman and Batman let the reader know itâs a big issue, but having an empty mask as the focal point for a first issue is not the most intuitive choice, even if itâs an arresting image.Â
Shining a spotlight on the art in this series is a difficult task, because honestly, top to bottom, itâs gorgeous. I could easily fill up pages admiring this team, which to me is about as good as superhero comics get. Jerry Ordway, as regular readers know, is my favourite comic artist of all time, but his observed, photorealistic finishes over Dan Jurgensâ tight and dynamic layouts is just such a treatâevery page looks like a poster. So in the interest of space, Iâll just focus on the absolute best images of all these amazing images. The first such amazing image is of the MIA Barbara Gordon Batgirl lassoing the Joker, in stunning rim lighting from the lightning in the skies. This version of Batgirl hadnât been seen in costume since March 1988âs Batgirl Special, which was hailed at the time as the last Batgirl story, being released one week ahead of the tragic events in the Killing Joke one shot where the Jokerâs actions left Barbara Gordon paraplegic. In the hands of this art team, the reader can really see what a great design this character is.
Ordwayâs texture rendering is stunning throughout but the Wally West Flashâs shimmering costume (and determined expression) on page 10 are certainly worth singling out. The various echoes of Hawkman is a nice bit of showing off, as Jurgens gets to draw several eras of the character as well as alternates unfamiliar to me.
The âgetting the band back togetherâ sequence of heroes reacting to Supermanâs holographic message has lots of great details, like the little glimpses and backgrounds (like Superboy being in Hawaii) and I love the subtle Justice League shield that makes up those panels.
The faces in this series are all so well drawn, they consistently look like real people, few more prominently than the world weary Green Arrow, who, with his pompadour and prominent forehead wrinkles, looks like Luke Perry in a van dyke. Just a page later, Jurgens and Ordway do a terrific job of keeping their own style, while blending the swirly, liney loose inks of Tom Mandrake, which defined the Spectre at this time. I love how throughout this series they draw the Spectre as though all his lines are hissed through clenched, angry teeth.
Lastly, the Pieta-like callback to Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 with Jay Garrick Flash holding the empty costume of Wally West is a great image, made all the more arresting by the minimalist colouring.Â
SPEEDING BULLETS:
Itâs only natural that this storyline be compared to the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, which had only taken place nine years previously, though thatâs a lifetime in comics time. But honestly, from the jump, it improves on some of the mistakes Crisis made, classic though it was. The original Crisis focused on new characters it introduced. So readers had to deal with familiar beloved characters play second fiddle to relatively new (and to me, far less interesting) characters like Lady Quark, Harbinger and the loathsome Pariah. Yes, eventually household names like Flash, Supergirl and Superman took to the fore, but in those early issues, there was a looooooot of world building, from people in whom we had no investment, and little interest. Zero Hour wisely jumps in with some of their most recognizable charactersâDarkseid, Batman & Robin, Joker etcâright off the bat. Even Waverider had already been established in the line-wide Armageddon 2001 storyline 3 years ago, so he was at least somewhat familiar to readers, and also had a much cooler name than The Monitor.Â
I dig the Joker revealing that he knew that Azrael Batman wasnât the real Batman.
However, there is something downright hilarious about the Worldâs Greatest Detective⢠deducing âhelicopter!â when he sees a helicopter.Â
The bewildered Flash on page 10 to my eye resembled another beloved redhead, a young Ron Howard!
But, why is the Flash running around in the 64th century? Was that something happening in the Flash books at the time? [Max: Yeah, Flash #94 is about Wally fighting Abra Kadabra, and it ends with both of them being transported to Kadabra's original time due to Zero Hour's time shenanigans. Kadabra is also suddenly wearing his old costume -- he did NOT look like this in the Flash comics at this time. He was even uglier, believe it or not. Anyway, off you go to read Mark Waid's Flash, Don!]
I know we already saw it in Man of Steel #37, but thereâs something satisfying about Batman and Superman acknowledging the "Knightfall" and "Doomsday" storylines.
I didnât get this whole scene with Green Lantern Hal Jordan until years later when I read some early Broome/Kane GL comics. For some reason, the people of Star City in the 58th century would periodically abduct and mindwipe Hal Jordan to serve as their superheroânamed Pol Manningâwhen crises would arise. When I first read it, I thought that the old guy was Pol Manning, being addressed by one of his council members. But no, he was referring to the title of Pol Manning, like James Bond or something. [Max: Whoa, I did not know that until know! I always assumed some future people randomly brought in Young Hal to fight the entropy wave. Side note: I like how Not-Pol Manning's facial hair continues the idea that the van dyke is a common look in Star City and that's why Green Arrow's secret identity isn't immediately obvious.]
Thereâs something a little amusing about all the different heroes speaking back to Supermanâs projection, when weâre given no indication he can hear them back.Â
Not exactly a GODWATCH segment, but itâs interesting that Godâs instrument of wrath, the Spectre appears to be hiding out in a Church. Thereâs also a part of me that likes that a âNew Godâ like Metron can be so summarily dismissed by someone as legitimately godlike as the Spectre.
Itâs a clever bit of writing that we donât see what Waverider sees as he plays back images from the Crisis on Infinite Earths, since itâs still a bit vague just what all happened in the present continuity, and what is remembered. By seeing only Waveriderâs reaction, they arenât nailed down with any details that might be contradicted by present-day continuity.
Some good misdirection by showing Extant at the end of the book, which makes the reader believe that was him at the beginning of the issue, dispatching the Time Trapper. [Max: What do you mean, "misdirection"? He's the villain of the book, right?]
