do it coward
Ok- here is my rambling.
Bfau is a fantasy au indpired mostly by @hopepetal and @applestruda and their boatem knights au, but i put a spin on it and changed a lot. (sorry for tagging you two if you see this lol)
Rambling is under the cut :]
Basically- Grian the avian fire sorcerer is tasked by the king to assemble a small team of warriors to defend an ancient village called Boatem, which has an open rift to a dangerous void-like realm inside of it. It's dangerous as they will live there full time and will be the first (and only major) line of defence against anything that emerges from the rift. Grian agrees, and sends out letters to those he sees worthy.
The first was a ranger called Scar, his former party member and travel buddy. They used to adventure with Grian's adopted older brother Jimmy, and Jimmy's boyfriend of the time BigB, but due to a tragic event BigB passed, and Jimmy left adventuring for good to mourn, leaving Grian with a now unpredictable teammate. Scar died too in that event, but a stolen artifact they had brought his soul back to his body. The problem? Souls that are angry when they die become vexes, which are wild and violent. So when Scar came back to life, he gained otherworldly abilities which he couldn't control. They tried to continue travelling, but eventually Scar couldn't keep risking Grian's safety and they parted ways so that Scar could understand his new life and powers. He had to have control by now, after years of minimal contact, right?
The second invite went to his twin sister Pearl, who he hadn't seen for many years. She had left their home town in response to strange dreams and visions calling her somewhere. Grian hadn't heard from her for a long time until recently, when Tim got word from a traveller that she was alive and well, and strong too. She was some sort of paladin now, and neither of her brothers had any more information than that. Grian knew that his new life would be tough and he would be lying if he didn't admit that he really wanted his twin's support.
The third person to contact was another close friend, a vampire called Mumbo. Grian met him when he was weak and starving, having offered his blood in exchange for temporary shelter. They became fast friends, and talked often. Grian wasn't sure how he was in combat, but the guy was hella smart! He had so many ideas for traps and weapons, and knew hoe to make them. Grian felt that having a more technical teammate would be valuable, so Mumbo was a no brainer really.
The fourth and final invite was tough, as he had ran out of connections. Well- he had his older brother, but Timmy had been left flightless by the same event that took his lover. While he and Grian occasionally talked via messages, Tim was never a fighter, and what magic he did have wasn't suited for combat. Even then, even if Tim somehow said yes, Grian could never put him through all that pain again.
He settled on talking around, and found out about a veteran adventurer called Impulse.
Impulse was a bit of a wild card, and it also showed in his personality. He was noticeably older than everyone else, but his portfolio was nothing to sneer at. He had been a part of an adventure party like Grian, and had gotten pretty well known and respected. Impulse was a knight apparently, the brawn to a pair of brains. But when Grian first met him, he was instantly a little strange. He would frequently refer to himself as a 'we' or 'us', and Grian was convinced he'd caught him talking to himself once as if there was a response. Grian didn't know this yet, but Impulse wasn't just a knight. He was a human sharing his body with a (kind of stupid and annoying) demon, and had been for many years. By now it was almost second mature for him to include Skizz into conversations, even if no one else could see or hear him.
These five indeviduals were the only ones to guard and interact with Boatem, and just kinda have to deal with each other. Not much happens at Boatem, but at least the down time lets them get to adjust to each other and their quirks.
So yeah. Grian gets his sister, two besties and a random dude together to do nothing but bicker and train unless shit goes down, featuring LOTS of background characters with their own stories and development that don't matter as they aren't the pov. I will talk about them though. Just not now.
I hope you enjoyed my midnight ranting :]

DS9 Characters as their DnD Equivalents
Sisko: Sisko imo would be a human Abberant Mind Sorcerer.
Abberant Mind Sorcerer: An alien influence has wrapped its tendrils around your mind, giving you psionic power. You can now touch other minds with that power and alter the world around you by using it to control the magical energy of the multiverse. Will this power shine from you as a hopeful beacon to others? Or will you be a source of terror to those who feel the stab of your mind and witness the strange manifestations of your might?
Kira: I think Kira would be a Tiefling or Deep Gnome Oath of the Watcher Paladin (Cardassians are technically alien invaders on her planet), maybe multiclassed with a Light Cleric. (Not the most optimal but this is just for fun)
Oath of the Watcher: The Oath of the Watchers binds paladins to protect mortal realms from the predations of extraplanar creatures, many of which can lay waste to mortal soldiers. Thus, the Watchers hone their minds, spirits, and bodies to be the ultimate weapons against such threats. Paladins who follow the Watchers' oath are ever vigilant in spotting the influence of extraplanar forces, often establishing a network of spies and informants to gather information on suspected cults. To a Watcher, keeping a healthy suspicion and awareness about one's surroundings is as natural as wearing armor in battle.
Light Domain Cleric: Gods of light – including Helm, Lathander, Pholtus, Branchala, the Silver Flame, Belenus, Apollo, and Re-Horakhty – promote the ideals of rebirth and renewal, truth, vigilance, and beauty, often using the symbol of the sun. Some of these gods are portrayed as the sun itself or as a charioteer who guides the sun across the sky. Others are tireless sentinels whose eyes pierce every shadow and see through every deception. Some are deities of beauty and artistry, who teach that art is a vehicle for the soul's improvement. Clerics of a god of light are enlightened souls infused with radiance and the power of their gods' discerning vision, charged with chasing away lies and burning away darkness.
Jadzia Dax: I think she would be a Fey Wanderer Ranger or a Hexblade Warlock. (If the weapon fully possessed her lol) I think her being a Githzerai could be cool (Mostly because spots XD) but Aasimar or any type of elf would make sense too!
Fey Wanderer Ranger: A fey mystique surrounds you, thanks to the boon of an archfey, the shining fruit you ate from a talking tree, the magic spring you swam in, or some other auspicious event. However you acquired your fey magic, you are now a Fey Wanderer, a ranger who represents both the mortal and the fey realms. As you wander the multiverse, your joyful laughter brightens the hearts of the downtrodden, and your martial prowess strikes terror in your foes, for great is the mirth of the fey and dreadful is their fury.
Hexblade Warlock:
You have made your pact with a mysterious entity from the Shadowfell – a force that manifests in sentient magic weapons carved from the stuff of shadow. The mighty sword Blackrazor is the most notable of these weapons, which have been spread across the multiverse over the ages. The shadowy force behind these weapons can offer power to warlocks who form pacts with it. Many hexblade warlocks create weapons that emulate those formed in the Shadowfell. Others forgo such arms, content to weave the dark magic of that plane into their spellcasting.
O'Brien: O'Brien would be a human artificer, Artillerist subclass.
An Artillerist specializes in using magic to hurl energy, projectiles, and explosions on a battlefield. This destructive power is valued by armies in the wars on many different worlds. And when war passes, some members of this specialization seek to build a more peaceful world by using their powers to fight the resurgence of strife. The world-hopping gnome artificer Vi has been especially vocal about making things right: "It's about time we fixed things instead of blowing them all to hell."
Bashir: I think Bashir would be a human Celestial Warlock. It's healing focused and his power not being original to him (but from a pact) kind of echoes his genetic modification in my opinion. (If this were a real campaign, his patron could be something he doesn't like telling people about)
Your patron is a powerful being of the Upper Planes. You have bound yourself to an ancient empyrean, solar, ki-rin, unicorn, or other entity that resides in the planes of everlasting bliss. Your pact with that being allows you to experience the barest touch of the holy light that illuminates the multiverse.
Worf: I think he screams paladin. I would make him either a Githyanki (for obvious reasons) or a Half Orc (I think it'd be similar to his being torn between the human and Klingon worlds due to his uprbinging) His devotion to honor and idealistic Klingon values is very important to him, even when compared to other Klingons. I think Oath of Glory would make a lot of sense. I don't think he'd be a perfect paladin by any means but I think he'd strive to be. (Also possibly a multiclass with war cleric?)
Oath of Glory: Paladins who take the Oath of Glory believe they and their companions are destined to achieve glory through deeds of heroism. They train diligently and encourage their companions so they're all ready when destiny calls. The tenets of the Oath of Glory drive a paladin to attempt heroics that might one day shine in legend. Actions over Words. Strive to be known by glorious deeds, not words. Challenges Are but Tests. Face hardships with courage, and encourage your allies to face them with you. Hone the Body. Like raw stone, your body must be worked so its potential can be realized. Discipline the Soul. You must marshal the discipline to overcome failings within yourself that threaten to dim the glory of you and your friends.
Odo: 100% a changeling also 100% an Order Domain Cleric
The Order Domain represents discipline, as well as devotion to the laws that govern a society, an institution, or a philosophy. Clerics of Order meditate on logic and justice as they serve their gods, examples of which appear in the Order Deities table. Clerics of Order believe that well-crafted laws establish legitimate hierarchies, and those selected by law to lead must be obeyed. Those who obey must do so to the best of their ability, and if those who lead fail to protect the law, they must be replaced. In this manner, law weaves a web of obligations that create order and security in a chaotic multiverse.
Quark: Kobold I think would make a ton of sense (loving shiny things XD) I also think he'd be a Rogue Inquisitive/ Lore Bard multiclass.
Rogue Inquisitive: As an archetypal Inquisitive, you excel at rooting out secrets and unraveling mysteries. You rely on your sharp eye for detail, but also on your finely honed ability to read the words and deeds of other creatures to determine their true intent. You excel at defeating creatures that hide among and prey upon ordinary folk, and your mastery of lore and your sharp eye make you well equipped to expose and end hidden evils.
Lore Bard: Bards of the College of Lore know something about most things, collecting bits of knowledge from sources as diverse as scholarly tomes and peasant tales. Whether singing folk ballads in taverns or elaborate compositions in royal courts, these bards use their gifts to hold audiences spellbound. When the applause dies down, the audience members might find themselves questioning everything they held to be true, from their faith in the priesthood of the local temple to their loyalty to the king.
Garak: I think Garak would be a Drow 100%, I also think he'd be a Mastermind Rogue.
Mastermind Rogue: Your focus is on people and on the influence and secrets they have. Many spies, courtiers, and schemers follow this archetype, leading lives of intrigue. Words are your weapons as often as knives or poison, and secrets and favors are some of your favorite treasures.

AO3 tag game :3
shout-out to @ragecndybars for the tag! <3 I got to think a lot about some older fics and also the deep, eternal impact CC has has on my soul, so I'm emotional rn lol.
How many works do you have on AO3?
21! Which is, a lot more than I thought tbh. I've been writing these long, long fics for so many years now that I've sort of forgotten about all the little ones I've managed in between. And even the long ones add up after a while. Though, I did only import a small selection of my fics from ff.net, so the back catalogue of stuff I've actually written is way longer. ... That's fine, some of that stuff can stay buried lol.
Even at 21 though... *Looks at my shoebox of story ideas and outlines* Its... its still not enough. Its, its just no where close to even making a dent in everything I want to write eventually.
What’s your total AO3 word count?
650,444. I'm pretty sure at least half of that is entirely in CC, and another quarter is in can i bleed. Which, tbh I'm not sure how I feel about that lol. Deeply introspective fics, my passion, my talent, my beloathed. Some part of me does miss simply writting 5k chapters and calling it done for a week. Not all of me though.
How many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Only 10! That number probably isn't going to grow much either. I tend to gravitate towards bigger projects these days rather than simple oneshots or even like, 5 chapter long stuff, so I tend to go all in on a small number of fandoms instead of spreading my attention around, even though I want to.
Cardcaptor Sakura
Digimon
Dragon Age Inquisition
Percy Jackson
Persona 3
Power Rangers RPM
RWBY
Teen Wolf
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
BNHA
Top five fics by kudos:
A Most Precious Thing (Tsubasa): tbh this being number one is an absolute surprise, though I'm very happy about it. According to AO3, this was published almost 10 years ago, will be 10 years exactly in just a few weeks, but people still regularly give it kudos and comments. It was a complete experiment, style wise; I'd never written anything like it before, I've written one thing like it since, and I'm just so thankful that people loved it so much despite the inexperience behind it.
Of the Woods (Teen Wolf/CCS): This being so high up is not a surprise, and I'm annoyed about it. Mostly bc I know its only so high up bc its for such a big fandom, written during said fandom's height. I think its probably one of the fic I've soured the most on since I wrote it; its just not that great.
Crests Corrupted (Digimon) : Oh, here it is. My masterpiece. Maybe its weird to say that of the fic that's only 3rd, but it truly is, and to see a fic I have put so much of myself into being even this high and this appreciated means so much to me.
can i bleed within your love (Persona 3) : Hi! I don't have much to say about this one, only that I'm so happy with the sheer outpouring of love this has gotten, and I can't wait to finish it.
True Feelings Chocolate (Digimon) : Oh, um, I sort of forgot about you. What are you doing here? ...This is awkward, I really didn't expect this to do so well. Its just a silly little fic I wrote for valentine's one year. I'm glad it did well?
Do you respond to comments?
I try! I don't succeed a lot of the time; generally I'm very tired after posting a chapter and then its been like two weeks and responding feels awkward. Also I tend to ramble, if you haven't noticed yet, some sometimes I'll just close out of responding to avoid any chance of me accidentally spoiling or saying something I shouldn't. I'm... working on it.
What’s the fic with the angstiest ending you’ve ever written?
Oh that's easy. Its the RWBY one, Your Love on Your Sleeve and Your Pain Buried Deep. I don't tend to write angsty fics, I like happy endings, I think this is the only one I've ever written and I'm glad to keep it that way.
Do you write crossovers?
I've written one before, the TW one that's up there. I generally tend to prefer fusions over straight up crossovers; I've gotten several P3 fusions planned, a PJ fusion, the bnha fic I wrote is a fusion. I just, I love fusions. I greatly prefer writing them over cross-overs generally.
Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
Once or twice, but that was ages ago and I've mostly blocked it from my memory. The fandoms I'm in now have been full of such lovely people, I've been really lucky.
Do you write smut?
Smut, as in the fic happens to have a sex scene? Not typically, but I'm not against doing so when the need calls. Smut, as in the entire point of the fic in the sex scene? No. I'm actually very bad at it. I'll do it if I must but I find even writing kiss scenes awkward, let alone everything else. I will gladly leave it to people much better at their craft them I am.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
To the best of my knowledge? No I don't think so.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've had people offer? I don't know if they ever did or even if, in my general ineptitude when it comes to responding to people, I actually agreed they could.
Hey, if anyone wants to translate my works, feel free!
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
... Hey, thats not fair.
Hmmm, well, after much thinking I'm gonna go with Kurogane/Fai from TRC. Other ships may currently have their hooks in my brain, but kurofai is a big comfort to me still, I really love them. And lets be honest. Ain't no one doing it like those two.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?
I have, its not posted anywhere, and technically I've barely started writing it, its almost entirely outline rn, but I do have a p3 fantasy au thats just... fucking massive. Its a huge project just from the outline i have, long even in comparison to CC, so long that I doubt I'd ever finish it to the point where I've barely started it.
What are your writing strengths?
Combat. I write a damn good fight scene and I know it. I take a lot of pride in that. I also tend to have a pretty solid grasp of pacing on an overall level for longer fics. Per chapter pacing gets a bit more eh, but the overall pacing of arcs and stuff for my longer fics, I generally know what I'm doing.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I never know when to shut the fuck up! This is a problem I've known I've had for years. I just let characters go on these long, internal monologues, which is only acceptable because I also write deeply introspective fics. However, it tends to slow chapters down a lot and after a bit, characters repeat themselves and its a problem.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?
I'm incapable bc I'm monolingual but I've always loved fics that use other languages! Maybe I can do that some day lol.
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Yknow, if I dug far far far back in my ff.net account it would probably be Naruto? I think. My memory is fuzzy and I'm not actually going to go look. However, thats the first one I posted.
The *very* first fic i ever wrote, I have a very clear memory of for some reason. It was a FFX2/Series of Unfortunate Events crossover, I was in the fourth grade, I thought it was the coolest thing. Hm, memories.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?
I actually have two answers for this, which, I know is against the spirit and rule of the question BUT. Too bad.
One is A Most Precious Thing, bc it was such an experience to write. Despite being 10 years old I still love it. It was, as I said above, an utter experiment. It is written entirely in 2nd person, which is not actually a choice? I made? Um, I tried, very hard in the beginning, to write in in my standard 3rd, and it didn't work. The story actively refused to be written as such and I kept ending up back in 2nd. And at some point I just gave up and wrote the rest of it as such. And it taught me, so much, about point of view and how that relates to emotional distance, and really, but trusting myself with my writing, that even if I can't say why this is happening, somewhere deep down there is a reason to it and I should trust that. As a writer who takes my craft very seriously, this one has a soft spot in my heart bc of all of that.
However, Crests Corrupted owns a piece of my soul that I will never get back. It is my thesis, my masterpiece, It has defined years of my life, I have poured hundreds of thousands of words into it, I have given it so much of my heart and my pain. It has redefined how I approach writing, it has shaped, totally, the style in which I write today. Even years from now, even years after I finally finish it whenever that is, I don't think I will ever be truly free of it. It is my favorite. How can't it be?

People you'd like to know better tag game
Tagged by @oblivions-dawn to do this a few days ago, and lmao I've been massively overthinking my answers and pfft you can absolutely tell.
Three Ships:
Elyse and Balgruuf I'm slowly starting to refer to it as Elgruuf lol
Hrongar and Irileth (through the power of my own fanfiction I've started shipping them, oops-) not oops.
and........ hm. I'm torn between the other two which are both not related to Skyrim and currently bouncing around in my head. Might cheat and do them both. There's my BG3 Tav, Elisaryn, with Gale... and my character from Stardew Valley and Elliott. I'm torn and can't decide between them both.
First Ship: Uhhhhhhhhh. All I know is that it is definitely Pokemon-related, my life was basically just Pokemon until I was like 13/14. It's either one of Red Eyes and Summer from Pokemon Ranger Guardian Signs, or Hilda and N from Pokemon White (like this has to specifically be Pokemon White. Mostly because that's the version I played.)
Last Song: Piano Solo (Elliott's Theme) from Stardew Valley! It's only like thirty seconds long but I've been listening to it on loop on Spotify because oh I love it-!
Last Film: It has admittedly been a while since I've gone out of my way to watch a film..... Might've been Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 though?
Currently Reading: *sweats in pile of AO3 emails of subscriptions that I need to get to reading* Otherwise, nothing really - I find it so hard to find books which capture my attention. Have been contemplating reading The Witcher books though.
Currently Craving: Cadbury's fingers. Ohhhhh they're my go-to snacky thing right now other than mini cheddars.
I do think that anyone who I would've tagged has done this already over the past few days (and if I'm forgetting anyone here I'm so so so sorry-!!!!!!) so uhhhh.... if anyone wants to do this and say that I tagged then go ahead, I guess??

You had me hooked at Godzilla
Are there robots? Cus I remember reading robots somehwere
And these guys give me superhero vibes, do they have superpowers? Or are they like, power rangers but high tech
Fun fact! The original head of the company that makes Ultraman, Mr. Eiji Tsuburaya (may he rest in peace), was the special effects director for the original Godzilla, before he split off to create his own production company! (Yeah, Ultraman's been going a while... Off and on since 1966!) So there's a good reason Godzilla is an easy comparison to make, and it's not just because of all the kaiju!
There are robots sometimes! The big focus is on the titular Ultramen -- aliens made of light from a distant galaxy, (usually,) capable of being large or small, generally do-gooders and capable of fusing their life with a human host for mutual survival -- but there have been both robot antagonists and robot friends throughout the years. The current season, Blazar, is very new-viewer friendly and has a giant mecha-godzilla-esque mecha that our heroes pilot (starting from episode 3)! His name is Earth Garon and we all love him.
As for superhero vibes... Kinda! As I mentioned, Ultramen can fuse with humans for mutual survival - Ultras need intense solar radiation to survive more than a few minutes, which Earth's atmosphere unfortunately blocks, so fusing lets them hide in the human's body on Earth to survive long-term when waiting for kaiju to show up, and lets the human hide in the Ultra's body for combat! (Well, there's other situations too, because not all "Ultramen" are from the same place, and others find other solutions... but that's the most common way.) So the protagonist is usually very superhero-like, with a "secret identity" of sorts! (EDIT: ... And yes, Ultramen themselves typically have superpowers. The most basic is beam attacks, but there's been everything from healing powers to energy weapon summoning to CRAB MINIATURIZING BEAM to summoning black holes! They're a bit magical like that.)
But then there's usually a government Defense Team, or other human allies, who are trying to solve mysteries and save Earth themselves, with human technology! So that part's often more got Star Trek vibes than Power Rangers, I'd say, but they'll often have combining jet fighters or mecha and such, so a bit similar after all, lol. A big theme is humanity trying to find its own place in the universe and grow to protect themselves!
... Though, that's mostly in proper seasons. Zero's a bunch of movies, usually set out in space with very few humans (or human-looking characters) at all, so it's very much a larger-scale sci-fi superhero romp there. A bit more Star Wars than Star Trek, but still it's own thing and very fun!
... Ah, I talked too much again. Well, if you need any more rambling about my favorite series, I'll be around, lmao

Tagged by @batrachised. Thank you!
1-How many works do you have on AO3?
102. We will not discuss the number of fics posted on the ff.net account I maintained in high school.
2-What's your total AO3 word count?
298,956. Lower than I would have expected, actually. My longfic days were primarily, again, in high school, so on AO3 it's mostly shorter one-shots.
3-What fandoms do you write for?
Currently on a Blue Castle kick. Previously my main fandom was Les Mis, mostly bookverse, and prior to that I spent a decade or so as a Harry Potter girl. I have dabbled in other things, but none of them deeply enough for me to consider them actual fandoms that I am in.
4-What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
In the darkest time of year -- Hadestown, post-canon. I believe this is also the fic with the most notes on tumblr.
The Black Sheep and the Mad Muggleborn: a love story -- HP, post-canon. I really liked writing this one and, like all my HP work, now have deeply conflicted feelings about it.
And I could be enough -- Power Rangers 2017, character study. I only wrote 2 fics for this movie and I adore them both so much.
Stormforged -- ASOIAF, alternate ending. This was written for Femslash February and represents the sum total amount of time I have spent thinking about ASOIAF since reading the first four books in a week during standardized testing week back in high school.
We rose with voices ringing -- HP, alternate post-canon. Can you tell I default to song lyric titles a lot and also enjoy musicals?
5-Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I am trying to be better about this! For a long time I didn't because I hated everything I wrote the moment I published it and the only way I could publish at all was to throw a fic out the door and never think of it again.
6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
You know, I'm not sure. I haven't done full on angst in a long time. Probably either Waiting for sunrise (LM) or With nothing to remember (also LM). Honorable mention goes to Real in its consequences (still LM) which exists solely to take a ridiculous premise seriously.
7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It's new and still my beautiful child, so this one goes to Ties That Bind, Bonds That Strengthen (TBC).
Oh! Honorable mention to The title of citizen (LM Animates-verse). It's... it just has to be read to be understood, tbh.
8-Do you get hate on fics?
Not since the old aforementioned high school era ffn account, where I once got flamed for writing het. Ah, the good old days. (It wasn't even endgame het, lol.)
9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Nope. I've played with some fade to black and a couple, like, sensuous bed scenes, but I find it boring to read so I don't write it.
10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I have come to love crossovers, honestly. I like putting characters into Situations. Can't think of any particularly crazy ones though.
11-Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I've ever found or been told about, although realistically with how much I've written and how long I've been doing it I'm sure there are some out there.
12-Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, but I can't off the top of my head remember which ones, unfortunately.
13-Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No. I am a dreadful co-writer. I will, however, build a world with you at the drop of a hat. Shout out to @steelplatedhearts for the PoTC mermaid worldbuilding we did years and years ago that I still think about fondly.
14-What's your all-time favourite ship?
It varies. Right now unfortunately it's the two leads from the Forbidden Hugs story, which is unfinished original fiction. Fandom wise, I still like me some Logic and Philosophy.
15-What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Anything started earlier than this year, unfortunately.
16-What are your writing strengths?
I like to think I have gotten decent at having an entertaining narrative voice without it being too distracting.
17-What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot? What plot? Plot is when people sit in rooms and have conversations about their feelings, right? What do you mean Events must occur? I'm calling my manager, this doesn't sound right at all.
18-Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Mostly feels needlessly pretentious, honestly. I don't know if I've ever really even considered it.
19-First fandom you wrote for?
HP, starting at age, oh, 14 or so.
20-Favorite fic you've ever written?
Again, Ties That Bind is still my beloved child, but I have a huge soft spot for both Power Rangers (2017) fics. Oh, and underdog fav status to Never go anywhere, never see anyone, the nichest of niche crossovers where Mary Bolkonskaya befriends doesn't-even-get-a-canonical-first-name Aunt Gillenormand.

Blythe I have many questions istg because I love this fic, it’s one of my favourites and we’re only two chapters in 😭
1. Is El a Mage?
2. Do the rest of the party members (I mean Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Max) have the attributes of their DnD positions; for example, Lucas is a ranger which I believe has a skill for archery, and the house Sinclair are full of great archers!
3. Now this is one I don’t see often, but is there gonna be Will and Holly meetings because whenever I read a fic where Will looks after Holly with Mike or something, it’s always so funny and sweet!
4. What are the actual ages of the characters? I might have missed it but I don’t remember Mike having an age before he said “ten years later” when he went back within his memories
5. How do you PLAN your stories? Because they are all so good and I just wonder how it works behind the screens!
6. Will we see Max in the next few chapters?
7. Is being a scholar something Mike still wants to accomplish? Will that be apart of his internal conflict?
8. THIS IS THE LAST ONE (I think, I’m sorry I’m just so invested 😭) with the visions you describe in the story, how are they, like, done? Is it like, glazed eyes or is it a little seizure (hope that isn’t an offensive term to call it 😅) and do they only come across certain people such as Clerics, kings, heirs etc?
i had to pull out my laptop to answer this one, and believe me, i am SO excited to do so.
1.el is a mage!! getting a bit deep into lore bits here, el wound up on hopper's doorstep when she was around five, and was already showing signs of magic posession (in this world, magic is an inherited trait; some are born with it, some aren't, some families have higher potential of magic passing on while others almost never see it). hopper, interestingly enough, comes from a noble family sworn to house henderson. his family has a strong history of becoming learned healers and dabbling in that sort of magic, and growing up in this environment allowed him to pass on his knowledge to el, and, as we will see in will chapters to come, will as well. so yeah, the wonder twins have cool powers!!
2. yeah, they do! while lucas is a knight and can swing a sword pretty well, he always carries around a bow with him, too. the sinclairs are a house known for their wisdom in battle strategy and they often end up training the best soldiers in the kingdom, so lucas is a great example of these house sinclair traits. he can handle pretty much anything that comes his way with a clear head, unlike dustin, as we will see in chapter two when they encounter the cursecaster. dustin definitely has bard like traits; he would be the one to tell stories and sing songs on a long expedition like the one they are on now. max, on the other hand, may have some traits of her dnd character (i don't even know if zoomer is a real class but whatever). max is the commander of the king's guard, basically the big boss of all of the knights of hawks nest, and she is known as 'the sun's knight.' i guess she is pretty fast on horseback, so... i suppose she can be considered similar to her dnd counterpart!
3. will and holly will certainly have a meeting when he is still disguised. mike eventually grows smitten with the cleric, and introduces him formally to his family, so there will be a will and holly meeting at one point!
4. in the current timeline, the characters are all 20. when mike was in his flashback sequence, they were was 10; will has been missing for 10 years. nancy is 13 in the flashbacks, and 23 now, same with jonathan. mike became a knight when he was 15, and has been a knight for 5 years when the story picks up!
5. when it comes to planning, i'm not the best actually?? i kind of just think up the ideas in my head and ... remember them. like, this is my first time truly writing any of this down, because honestly it mostly just exists in my brain lol. that's all there is to it.
6. yes!! max makes an appearance at the very end of the upcoming chapter 2 when our cast finally returns to king's crest. she has a very important and vital role in the story.
7. YES!!! mike's dream since he was little was to be a scholar, and we saw that get tragically ripped away from him in chapter one, and in chapter two, we see an event happen that truly seals the deal. he had no desire to be a lord, and he certainly had no desire to be a knight; however, being from house wheeler, when he has become loyal to someone, it is difficult for him to turn away from those oaths/vows, a main issue for his character coming up in the future chapters.
8. visions are a tricky thing to describe when you are outside of the pov of the character experiencing them. in the prologue, with wilmot the wise, we see him get visited by ienta herself to provide him with the prophecy we see later on. i'd imagine that to the outside viewer, wilmot would simply be staring off into space with glazed eyes, and any sort of interruption or shaking would not be enough to wake him. will experiences visions the same way.
this was SOOOOO much fun. as you know, i love answering questions, so this really made my day. sorry if i wrote to much lol. thank you for taking the time to do this. :3

@venndaai, I hope it's okay to answer your reply in a separate post! This is likely to be long (since I'm incapable of not rambling when it comes to GW, lol), so I wanted to be able to put in a cut.
Ah, thanks for this response! I was feeling a little worried my ask had been annoying so I’m glad it wasn’t!
Oh, not at all! I was so thrilled to get a GW2 ask that it took awhile to organize my thoughts, lol, and also was just busy with some RL things (including crafting my first legendary for my mother's birthday present when I only had the resources for a staff and no Artificer character >_>). And then it happened again sans legendary, but! I've been looking forwards to being able to reply properly :)
Honestly, thinking about it, I think I abandoned my human character because playing them felt like I’d skipped a lot of homework and I just didn’t know the lore that would have made the story and the locations feel meaningful? The Sylvari and Asura characters feel the most accommodating of my ignorance- everything about the Sylvari is new, and the Asura don’t care about anything outside their personal projects.
That makes a lot of sense! Even though human characters aren't (IMO) allowed to "lean in" to their culture in the way of the other playable species, so it's not quite as bad as it could be, there are a ton of references to a lot of things. Part of my undying Ascalonian rage is that it's continually fed by references that aren't necessary to understand to play, but like ... for instance, in the Ascalonian Catacombs dungeon, Rytlock goes on about how Master Ranger Nente killed his (Rytlock's) ancestors like a coward by hiding behind his beasts and shooting ye olde Charr full of arrows. In GW1, before the Searing, Nente is one of the first teachers for Rangers and the one you have to talk to in order to get a pet. (The context of him shooting the Charr full of arrows is pretty clearly their invasion of his home, since he's stationed in a zone with zero Charr until the Searing.)
You don't need to know that to play the dungeons and it's not hard to guess that Rytlock's version of history is slanted, but yeah, it is a richer experience that way.
(Additionally, I tend to prefer fantasy human characters in general, especially magical ones, and since GW2 humans get the kind of spirituality, familiarity with magic, and weight of ancient history that often goes to Elves or whomever, while still being very recognizably human, it triggers a similar affection to what I have for Númenóreans and such—they're special and weird but their culture and history are nevertheless essentially human and shaped by being human. Even my aasimar D&D character was basically the same type in that respect: sure, she has lots of cool powers and is very tall and lives to be 160, but her sense of identity and culture has been profoundly shaped by her ostensible humanity and the aasimar arc resolves with her accepting her celestial and human sides as both essential to who she is.)
Totally agree on Trahearne and Mordremoth being well integrated into the Sylvari storyline. But I think the Crystal Desert and Cantha probably work better with human characters? Not to mention the Bloodstone stuff and all the Mists and gods content. My reaction to Balthazar was very “well I never voted for you, whoever you are”
Oh, true! I have terrible altitis and mostly play in Central Tyria with the various characters I've accumulated over ten years, lol, so I didn't think of that. But yeah, essentially part of the promise of the expansions was that we'd get to go to GW1 places that didn't originally show up in GW2 (the maps are a bit strange because GW2 is much bigger and more expansive to experience, but covered less actual territory than even the first GW1 game (which included the Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire islands, etc). But since the GW1 places and cultures were largely human-dominated and humans were the only playable species back then, a lot of the lore for those regions is human-oriented and much more rewarding if you play as human, even without necessarily playing GW1.
(Like, Kasmeer's angst over Balthazar makes perfect sense if you play as a GW2 human and are constantly encountering human spirituality, hearing "Balthazar bless you with courage" etc etc all the time and you yourself refer respectfully to the gods often enough. I like this despite being agnostic IRL because it's one of the ways in which human PCs do get to embrace a widespread aspect of human culture despite being railroaded into being more "reasonable" than many humans in other respects, so—yeah, I do agree here, though I do low-grade resent GW2 retconning human lore yet again.
I have a post in my drafts about it that I probably won't bother posting, but one of the kind of fun though ultimately pretty inconsequential aspects of choosing human in GW2 (which you may already know) is that the abilities you get from your species all come from the human gods. That's a cool concept IMO, even if most of the abilities kind of suck—and until you get well into the game, the best one is pretty indisputably the fiery hounds that Balthazar gives you (esp if you're a squishy spellcaster who could really use a couple of elite meat shields). So this god who had been comfortably established in the franchise for well over 10 years and always seemed cool and helpful being turned into the main antagonist is kind of /sigh, here we go again.
I would love to hear rants about Gwen! Whenever she’s appeared in GW2 I go “oh it’s blorbo from Elizabeth’s game!” but don’t know what to think of her otherwise.
Awesome. She is very definitely Peak Blorbo for me, so I'll talk about her in a separate post where I can give her full attention, haha. But thanks <3
(I had just over 700 gems left over from something I bought recently and suddenly realized that would just cover Gwen's outfit in the gem store and Althea could dress up as her hero for Halloween. It's 100% going to happen, lol.)
Haha, I did get my map completion, but I also realized the real reason I hadn’t finished Ascalon, which is that the Charr heart quest givers are so deeply unpleasant to deal with if you’re not playing a Charr and have no real reason to want to help them.
Yes. Like, the responses seem to either assume you are a Charr or at least are going to be totally chill about destroying historical artifacts of humans driven from their homes by the Charr reconquista, and there are a couple I simply refused to do the "short" way and instead just completed by killing enemies within the range of the heart. Or, even aside of human stuff, the one where you're supposed to like ... whip prisoners who are the real labor force fueling the Charr war machine is just mind-boggling, or "kill the dredge who are just singing happy communist work songs to steal their resources" are just like ... jfc, why should my character feel the slightest desire to do any of these things whether I'm human or any other non-Charr species??
I really really want to get Crystal Bloom armor but I’ve gotten distracted trying to unlock my roller beetle. After that I’m going to be grinding on Dragonfall which seems like a really really fun map.
Ooh, cool! I hope you either are enjoying or did enjoy doing that. I've been scouring the Silverwastes for crafting resources, which somehow I hadn't done before, and it's actually been really fun to do RIBA runs and rake in the rewards. (I think I've gotten 4-5 mastery points out of it? It's very satisfying.)

5, 7, 9 apex. 13 for engineer tf2. 10 and 24 for ur little uhhh gay men fighting kaijus shows
meme
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
LOL yes. sorry to everybody but waaay back around apex season 1 the mir*gehound fandom was so annoying that I stopped shipping them cold turkey. nobody would ship miragetane with me after that, but they still hold some place in my cold dead apex heart
I'm pretty sure there's been other ships like this, but this is definitely the most recent example.
7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
The above, but also ummm just. multiplayer first person shooters in generalJKLFDJKLDFSKLDSLKDSLK y'all's fandoms suck dick n balls. uhhh. h*mestuck. comic book fandoms. can't think of much else
[apex] 9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Sorry I just do not like Wattson. As an autistic person I love getting representation but she is not what I'm looking for. Her writing is bad and the ship is forced. If she was a lesbian she would have massive character growth, I think. At this point, I don't think there's a single redeemable trait in her for me.
Who else. Caustic. I don't have a reason I'm just bad-hairline-phobic I guess and I'm sore about his gameplay. Oh right Valkyrie. She's like a lesbian written by a straight man. I could write a dissertation about that.
Everybody else has some sort of charming point, I guess, so I'm not ranking those. also I feel like saying more is gonna get me burned LMFAO
13. Unpopular opinion about Engineer?
I'm gonna be real with you. The TF2 fandom is the most chill fandom I've ever been in. There literally aren't any popular opinions about Engineer that I disagree with. Except maybe that I don't actually like the beard look on him, but I feel like you're well within your right to decide that for yourself when you're 40+ years old. I treat him like he's a real person because he is my friend and I respect him so much.
[KAMEN RIDER ASKS WOO WOO WOO]
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
I can't really point out specific arcs within seasons because everything is so intertwined and so chaotic I can't really make heads or tails out of it tbh. I do have to say some seasons have absolutely godawful pacing in some episodes and the ~50 episode ~24min runtime limit is really harming the storytelling. I get that it's supposed to be digestible for kids and it depends on the director, and sometimes I actually like this type of thing! but they really do rapid-fire stuff at you in the newer seasons lmao 😭 this show is so adhd about their characters
24. Would you recommend Kamen Rider to a friend? Why or why not?
yes yes yes a hundred times yes. If you liked Power Rangers, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure or superheroes at any point (or anything that's like this, for that matter), you will ESPECIALLY like Kamen Rider. Because it has a SHITTON of (mostly disconnected) seasons however, I recommend starting with any heisei-era shows that catch your interest in its general theme (although if you pick Decade or Ex-Aid as your first show, god help you). I've watched Den-O, OOO and Wizard, which are all extremely good, and I'm planning to watch more of W, Build and Ghost. The suits are excellent, the themes really hit home and it's overall a fun time. If you want to start with the most recent shows though (not sure why you would want to but ok), Revice is REALLY good for the gay ass dynamic, and if you want to see a fundamental misunderstanding of Apex Legends, watch Geats.
Also Momotaros is in Den-O. You agree. You will watch it.

The RotBTD+ Gang Plays DnD! (Feat. my ships, sorry not sorry XD)
So highkey I’ve actually been wanting to do a “The Gang Plays DnD” type post for AGES now, but then I saw @hobie-brown and @ohlooksheswriting-wips do DnD AU posts for RotBTD, and then I was like “Ah shit, I really should finish mine, eh?” So thank you to both of you for inspiring me to get off my ass and actually write the post!!!
Hiccup DMs. He comes up with this super complex plot revolving around dragons (because of course) where the party has to dismantle this society ruled by evil knights who want to genocide all of the dragons. Imagine his chagrin when the party wants to do nothing but fuck around in towns and aggravate NPCs 90% of the time.
They usually end up playing at Jack’s apartment, mainly because Hiccup’s dad doesn’t really want a bunch of loud nerds yelling about 20-sided dice in his household while he’s trying to work, if he can at all help it. Jack’s sister regularly barges into their living room and roasts the fuck out of Jack and his friends for being such damn nerds and eats all of their DnD snacks they’ve set out. If they’re in the middle of a combat session, she always gleefully proclaims that they’re all going to die. While Jack is annoyed by this, the rest of the party finds it deeply hilarious.
Jack Overland plays the absolute mayhem warlock Jack Frost, who got his powers through making a deal with the archfey Prince of Frost and has absolutely no qualms about being an evil god’s mortal Sower of Chaos. He spends the vast majority of the campaign doing such useful things as creating ice slicks under annoying NPCs and freezing people’s drinks. He also plays a Tiefling because absolutely no one can talk this boy out of playing the creepy demon race.
Rapunzel plays a woodland nymph druid who is also the party healer (because of course she is). Her name is probably Sunlily or something else suitably hippie-esque. Whenever there’s downtime (or whenever the rest of the party is also dicking around, and she can get away with it), Rapunzel likes to go into the nearest forest and pick the best berries and nuts for the rest of the party. She also loves baking fruit pies and cooking the best nymph food for her companions when given the chance. Definitely the party Cinnamon Roll (every party has one!). She often will turn into cute animals to distract the guards while the party infiltrates a building.
Merida’s character is the party archer and general ranged weapon master, as well as a raging lesbian. Hiccup learns very quickly that any male NPC who tries to flirt with her will very quickly get impaled with an arrow. She can’t ever decide if she wants to be a ranger or a rogue, so she multiclasses in both for flare. She also plays a Tiefling, and continually insists that her character is both scarier and sexier than Jack’s. In combat, she either Leeroy Jenkins her way in with a sword and just starts slashing every which way, or just shoots 90% of the enemies with arrows before the fight even starts. There’s really no in between. She can get away with this because she’s highkey one of the party tanks, and consistently deals a shitton of damage.
Anna plays a human bard, basically having read over the class options and going “Wait, in this one I get to make stylish medieval music??? And wear dramatic and garish outfits and a dumb hat??? And cast wacky illusion spells??? And do silly little magic tricks??? And INSPIRE EVERYONE??? Hell yeah, I’m in!!!” She mostly uses magic attacks in combat (definitely favors Tasha’s Hideous Laughter), but occasionally when she’s out of spell slots she’ll just take to slamming enemies in the face with her lute. She also has WAY too much fun with Vicious Mockery, let’s be real.
Elsa, upon hearing Jack’s character concept, rolls her eyes so far up in her head she can see her damn brain, and vows to play his concept, but serious–solely out of spite. She rolls up a super OP elf Chaos Sorcerer, filled with lots of brooding angst about how uncontrollable her winter powers can get if she isn’t careful. She combines it a bit with Storm Sorcerer so she can create literal blizzards, and Hiccup ends up allowing it just because he thinks it’s cool. Although Elsa’s character is undoubtedly aggravated by the rest of the party’s antics, she starts becoming grudgingly protective of these idiots and can deal some pretty crazy damage when her companions are threatened. She also contains one of the party’s only brain cells.
Eugene of course plays dashing rogue master thief Flynn Rider. Although his high deception and lockpicking skills certainly come in handy, he’s the most chaotic neutral fucker you’ve ever met and will take any excuse to rob NPCs blind or cheat them out of every cent they have in a tavern card game. It’s nigh impossible to get him to cooperate with the rest of the party much of the time, and often Elsa’s character has to either bribe him with some of her family’s gold or threaten to freeze him to stop him backstabbing one or more party members. Eugene’s character forces Hiccup to add in many more heist plotlines than he originally intended. This delights Eugene immensely, and sometimes he goes a bit crazy planning elaborate heists.
Moana plays a sorcerer water genasi. She can control any body of water, but she has a special affinity for controlling saltwater (i.e. the ocean lol). She also requests an animal handling bonus, but only with marine animals, solely because she thought it would be funny. She’s also an ex-pirate who robbed a lot of wealthy merchant ships and freed their slaves back in the day, which Merida thinks is incredibly badass. Moana tends to get bored and unengaged when there are no bodies of water to play around with, so Hiccup ends up having to add a lot more lakes, rivers, and oceans to the campaign than he originally planned on. Moana also takes a sailing skill, and thus the party often ends up traveling by boat. Typically Eugene and Rapunzel will infiltrate and hijack it, and Moana will sail it. Moana probably contains the party’s only other brain cell.
Astrid plays a gigantic berserker orc barbarian who is never without his trusty axe. Astrid is hands down the party’s top tank, and unquestionably deals the most damage every combat session. Much like Merida’s character, Astrid’s character is absolutely a shameless power fantasy. Hiccup pretty easily picks up on this, but is too polite to say anything about it. Jack also picks up on this, but is hardly as courteous as their DM, and teases Astrid mercilessly. Astrid is not amused.
Rapunzel requests that her weapon of choice be a frying pan, her justification being that her character found a discarded one at the edge of a human village outside her woods and mistaked it for a highly-dangerous human weapon. Hiccup is like “…you know what? Fuck it” and rolls up stats for a goddamn frying pan. Jack has nigh-endless admiration for Rapunzel for choosing such a goddamn memey, absurd, yet oddly effective weapon and it definitely makes the poor boy even more smitten with her than he already is.
Eugene and Merida have a bet going on who can sleep with more sexy barmaids. Merida is currently winning, much to Eugene’s chagrin. She’s not even inherently better at seducing NPCs, she and Eugene have the same charisma stat–she just consistently rolls better than Eugene. Eugene is incredibly salty about this.
Anna and Elsa want to be sisters in-game as well, but neither want to change their race–so Anna decides her character was adopted. Hiccup and the rest of the party go along with it, mainly because there’s something deeply hilarious about a regular human bard being adopted and raised by a family of high-powered elf ice mages.
Astrid is absolutely the sort of player who tends to get bored and restless outside of fights, and tends to fidget and twiddle her thumbs waiting for the next combat session. Jack picks up on this, and purposely does more roleplay for longer just to piss her off. He’s also just a very dramatic fucker and highkey loves roleplay.
When she’s not causing mayhem around the town or sleeping with hot women, Merida tries to entertain Astrid between combat sessions by offering to spar with her. Unfortunately, this does not usually end well for poor Merida, as even the most hardcore and badass of tieflings is prone to getting dumpstered by an 8-foot-tall barbarian orc with an axe. Astrid is, nonetheless, grateful to have someone to fight.
Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana will humor Hiccup and attempt to actually play the main plot. Meanwhile, Jack, Merida, and Eugene are a DM’s worst nightmare. They constantly derail the damn campaign to fuck around, cause mayhem, and do inane shenanigans in every. Damn. Town. They go to. Anna is kind of a wildcard–she’ll typically go with whatever group looks like they’re going to be doing something more interesting. Astrid will go along with whichever group is more likely to get into a fight–which, often as not, is Jack and his posse of terrible Chaotic Neutrals (who have definitely pissed off a number of NPCs into attacking them).
As the campaign goes on, Elsa and Eugene become the beleaguered Party Mom and Dad. Both are quite aggravated by this–especially poor Eugene, who just wanted to play a morally-gray charming rogue who stole everything and got away with it and then accidentally ended up caring about these idiots he got stuck with.
Anna initially joins the campaign because she has a planet-size crush on Hiccup, and inevitably is the one who dragged Elsa into it too. Being the hopeless romantic that she is, Anna writes a love interest into her backstory. Hiccup eventually has the party run into said love interest, and Anna is overjoyed. He starts flirting with her as the love interest, and it’s easily the best 30 minutes of Anna’s life.
Moana and Elsa also give Hiccup pretty detailed backstories, and he works in little subplots for them. Moana gets to bring water back to a dying part of the jungle in the middle of a draught, while Elsa gets to go on a whole sidequest to explore her family history and how they came to be sorcerers.
Jack, Merida, and Eugene also give Hiccup fairly elaborate backstories, but Jack’s and Merida’s are like 99% memes and Dumb Shit. Hiccup tries to give all of them backstory-related plot hooks, but inevitably any hooks he provides are either stabbed, robbed, or frozen. Honestly any plot hook offered to these 3 will be all but spat in the face of and tossed off a cliff.
The one relevant part of Eugene’s backstory is that he and Rapunzel decide they used to be partners in crime before the campaign started. Rapunzel would infiltrate and scout out places he wanted to rob as small, unobtrusive animals (her preferred Wild Shape is a chameleon) and later distract the guards as a bunny or kitten while he went in and took every gold coin in sight. In return, Flynn Rider would bribe builders to not develop into Sunlily’s forest. Rapunzel and Eugene partly came up with this For Funsies, but also it was Rapunzel’s sneaky way of tricking Eugene into having prior connections in the party so he’d be less likely to betray them. It works pretty well–although the entire party is protective of Cinnamon Roll Sunlily, Flynn is certainly especially protective of her.
Astrid does the absolute bare minimum as far as backstories go. She is literally just here to smash stuff, slice people, and beat some fuckers up.
Rapunzel has a backstory, but she’s typically so invested in the main plot and the other party members that Hiccup rarely needs to bring it in to keep her engaged. She’s highkey the party emotional rock, and probably the only one keeping them all together.
On that note, Rapunzel’s character is the ONLY one who can get Jack’s character to take the plot even REMOTELY seriously. Like he’ll be dicking around in the nearest tavern challenging the nearest orc to a drinking game, and Rapunzel will come in and ask him to help them on a Main Plot Quest. And he’ll be like “come onnnnn I’m having funnn” and she’ll be like “Jack pleeeeeease?” and you just. Can’t resist Sunlily’s puppy dog eyes. At all. Also, whenever Sunlily is genuinely threatened, any silliness immediately goes out the window and Jack Frost is OUT FOR BLOOD.
For better or for worse, Rapunzel is not immune to being looped into Jack’s shenanigans. Occasionally if either Merida or Eugene have a particularly hare-brained scheme she’ll go along with it, but by and large Jack is the most successful in convincing her to temporarily abandon the plot and cause mild mischief with him. They once wasted half a session creating an elaborate “ice theme park” for some squirrels in the forest.
Hiccup tries to get Merida to play the main plot by eventually having there be no more sexy female NPCs to seduce in the towns they go to. Unfortunately, this backfires–Merida just hooks up with Moana’s character instead. When asked to roll for how good the lay is, Merida gets a nat 20–and thus her character and Moana’s character end up hooking up regularly throughout the rest of the campaign.
Hiccup introduces a few Wise Old Mentor-type NPCs to guide the party throughout the campaign. While Rapunzel, Elsa, Moana, and Anna actually try to listen to them and take their advice, Merida, Jack, and Eugene absolutely refuse to take them seriously and mercilessly play pranks on them.
At one point, Hiccup gives the party the option to attempt to tame a group of wild dragons and use them as mounts. They all have to make animal handling checks. Anna, Rapunzel, Elsa, and Moana pass. The rest of the party fails, with Jack and Eugene crit-failing. Hilarity ensues.
Hiccup ends up bringing back Anna’s backstory love interest as an NPC regular. Anna thinks he’s just being a good friend and a good DM and trying to incorporate her backstory as much as he can, but really, he just wants an excuse to regularly flirt with her. He hardly has the balls to out-of-game.
Merida comes out as gay toward the end of the campaign. Everyone in the group is extremely supportive, of course, but everyone is also like “Merida…with the amount of barmaids you’ve banged…and the amount of times you and Moana’s character hooked up…this isn’t exactly surprising.”
Hiccup actually finds a way to use Jack and Elsa’s same-concept-opposite-execution characters to the plot’s advantage. He decides one of the main villains will have a prophecy saying he’ll be taken down by a powerful ice mage. The party manages to fool this guy into thinking this ice mage is Jack, and sends Jack to fight him. As soon as the villain sees Jack, he’s like “WHAT??? THIS clown???” (word has absolutely spread throughout the land of Jack not using his ice powers for anything besides mildly annoying trolling). Naturally, the bad guy lets his guard down after thinking he’s going to fight this literal joke, and then Elsa crashes in from the side and absolutely dumpsters him.
Jack tries to defeat the final boss by just annoying him so much that he leaves. Unfortunately, he just annoys him so much that he attacks Rapunzel’s character. Jack’s just like “oh HELL no” and attacks with absolutely nothing held back. Turns out he’s pretty terrifying when he’s not using his magic for Dumb Antics.
During the final boss of the campaign, the Big Bad tries to one-shot Moana’s character, and Merida’s character super theatrically jumps in front of her to take the blow instead. Rapunzel just barely manages to heal Merida’s character, but it’s a really close call. During all this, Merida is like “ah shit...maybe I’m NOT just in this to get fantasy-laid.” After the fight’s over, her and Moana’s characters have a big dramatic love confession and share a Big Damn Kiss in front of everyone. It’s pretty epic.
After the final session of the campaign, Merida drags Moana outside Jack’s apartment and sputters and trips over her words for a solid minute before she finally gets out that through all this nonsense...well...maybe it’s not just in the game that she thinks Moana is hot. Moana just gets this HUGE grin on her face and says “c’mere, Leeroy Jenkins” and just pulls Merida in and kisses her. Cue the rest of the party barging in on them. Merida and Moana freeze, and there’s a moment of terrified silence...and then the entire party starts cheering them on like “took you long enough!”
The entire rest of the party could detect the sexual tension. Literally all of them.
But Eugene is like “HA, THIS MEANS IF WE DO A SEQUEL CAMPAIGN I’M WINNING THAT BET! BECAUSE YOU’RE GONNA BE DATING MO’S CHAR AND THUS NOT ABLE TO SLEEP WITH ANY MORE BARMAIDS!”
By the epilogue session, Jack and Rapunzel are dating. Merida and Moana are also dating. Hiccup and Anna STILL haven’t figured out why they’re so prone to spending half the session flirting when Anna’s love interest shows up, and Hiccup STILL hasn’t figured out why he likes to have Anna’s love interest show up so often. Bless their souls. Maybe they’ll figure it out next campaign...?
Damn I actually really like this...maybe if people like it I’ll do some incorrect quotes or a drabble or something??? Or maybe some HCs from next campaign???

for the ask meme! C, D, F, G, M, N, O, Q, R (oKAy i'm sorry that was a lot, you don't have to do all of those you can just choose if you want :') )
Buckle up, Rose, 'cause it's going to be a bumpy ride! C: A ship you have never liked and probably never will: Kreese/Johnny. No offense to anyone who likes it, but it's not something I can get behind. Probably never will. D: A pairing you wish you liked but just can't. Steve & Nancy, from Stranger Things. I like both characters, but I prefer them with other people than with each other. They just don't click, for me. F: What's the longest you've ever been in a fandom? 14+ years and still going (wrestling fandom) G: Do you remember your favorite OTP, if so who was in it? My first ever OTP was Tommy and Kimberly from the Power Rangers. M: Say something genuinely nice about a ship you don't ship (or its shippers, or anything related to you) I love the CK/TKK fandom. I have only been in the fandom a few months (but a fan of The Karate Kid movies since childhood), but everyone has been so kind and welcoming. I think it's because it's such a small fandom. Honestly, I like that it's small. Mega fandoms just aren't for me. And the creativity blows me away! There are so many AUs and fic tropes that I love reading about, and everyone puts their own unique twist on them. I don't feel like a weirdo or an outlier in this fandom, unlike with previous ones. And @camptriplepine, you share the same love for summer camp stories that I do, so that makes me happy. I love seeing your posts on my dash! N: Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or fandom of choice) Well, I'm not really an active member of the S*pernatural fandom anymore, and the reasons I'm going to list are a big part of why I'm not. Number one, I never saw a sense of community or family within the fandom. They liked to call themselves a "family", but I never felt more alienated when I was in that fandom than any other fandom I've been in. Number two, the infighting. The fandom was full of toxic behavior, from content policing to death threats, purity culture, harassment, and callouts. People just could not ship and let ship, OR allow people to enjoy the content and character headcanons they had. It was so negative, even when I filtered content and blocked, I still saw awful behavior. And number three, I wish I had seen more fun things. O: Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of? "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday reminds me of a teen Lawrusso AU where Daniel and Johnny are fooling around, and Daniel is falling head over heels for Johnny, but Johnny is afraid to admit that he's queer (mostly because of his mom, Sid, and Kreese), so he tells Daniel that they have to keep their relationship hidden. Wowwww, I made myself sad. Q: A ship you've abandoned and why Dean/Cas (aka D*stiel) from SPN. I don't want to get too much into it, because I don't want to get a ton of hate, but I will say that a big part of why I abandoned it was due to the hardcore shippers. If you'd like to know more about why, I'll tell you. Just message me :) R: A pairing you ship that you don't think anyone else ships Hmm. I'm not sure that I have any odd ships. I'm a pretty boring bitch, LOL. Thanks for these, Rose! I enjoyed answering them.

Reading Log for May/June
We are GETTING INTO THIS SHIT lmao I was behind in my goodreads goal and slacking on some of my reading goals so I tried to read more for May and June. Here is that effort, I think I did a fantastic job, and also I read a lot of books that I fOcking LOVED which was a nice change from the “mostly eh” pattern I’ve been stuck in.
I also bought a bunch of books (mostly starring queer and/or characters of color bc I realized my books feature way too many cishets) then inventoried all my books and redid my counts. And in June I ONLY read queer books as a “this is a gays only event go home!” power move on all the heterosexuals currently on my bookshelves. Can’t let those dudes get too cocky, they gotta know they’re on a Bisexual Bookshelf and they can’t be embarrassing me. So books 7 on are all queer in some way, and most of them were written by queer authors as well.
New Total Books Count: 184
New Unread Books Count: 94
Goodreads Goal: 49
This Place: 150 Years Retold Anthology - 3.5 stars. Eh. To be honest the summary was really misleading. I thought it would be more post apocalyptic takes on colonialism but instead it was mostly just straight history. Some of them did not have enough story for the pages they got and some of them had far too much story for the pages they got, or told them in a really awkward way. Still, seeing history centered from an Indigenous perspective was interesting and there’s some beautiful art here. Standouts include Red Clouds (read that one during daylight hours for my peace of mind if no one else’s lol), Rosie (BEST art by far), and Migwite’tmeg: We Remember It.
The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie - 5 stars. I know he’s a grade A creep but I bought this several years ago before I knew that and I wanted to at least read it once. I both understand why it’s considered a classic (the stories about Norma, Samuel Builds-the-Fire, and James Many Horses really stuck me with specifically) but I can also Really pick up on Alexie’s opinions of women lol.
Clockwork Prince by Cassie Clare - 4.5 Stars. So much better than the first one. Felt like there was more going on, the romantic scenes are SO beautifully romantic, the character arcs more well defined, and the writing really improved. Still too long, and idc what she says, Jem should have gotten a POV chapter and the fact that he didn’t bc ~plot reasons~ is just laziness, so I knocked half a star off. Also, the audiobook I listened to was AWESOME, the male voice did such a good job, and the female voice improved as well.
Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones - 5 stars. This was a solid, 4 star horror urban fantasy/coming of age story and then the last two chapters just punched me in the chest and took it into “absolute favorites” category. Told from the point of view of the nameless nephew who may or may not be a werewolf, raised by his werewolf aunt and uncle, who have been on the move since his grandfather died, it’s a fantastic horror book and a fresh take on werewolves and also just a great book.
Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee - 5 stars. Historical fiction about a Chinese aspiring acrobat who boards the titanic in the hopes of reconnecting with her twin brother. It’s SO GOOD, so engaging, with characters that feel so alive and painfully real. Loved it and loved being emotionally destroyed by the ending. The injustice of what happened to the lower class passengers really STUCK with me, I had to sit with my feelings after.
Among Others by Jo Walton - 5 stars. I don’t even know how to describe how much I loved it. I think The Book Thief might have a rival for my affections. It’s magic realism about a girl named Mor in, as she puts it, the Scouring of the Shire section of the story. Evil has been defeated, so what do you do next? It’s about grief, disability, abuse, and the power of connection and love and LIFE and I cried reading it. Everyone should read it.
Nature Poem by Tommy Pico - 4 stars. This was an audiobook listen and I loved hearing his narration. Very animated and fun. The poem itself is very interesting and there’s quite a few bits that really stuck with me about like Indigenous Experience and also about being gay and Indigenous. Excited to read more of his work.
Space Opera by Catherynne Valente - 5 stars. I would like to formally apologize to my friend Addi @monstersandheartache who recommended this to me like a year ago and I dragged my feet on reading it because I’m a dumbass holy shit. So funny, so witty, so zany, and yet so ripe with emotion. It’s Eurovision in Space and pays homage to sci-fi and glam rock, and the general overreaching theme reminds me a lot, of all things, Pacific Rim - it’s a humanist ballad of queer rockstars singing to (and often fucking and flirting with) aliens and it’s so damn good.
Beast by Brie Spangler - 3 stars. The writing was solid, I liked how Jamie as a trans girl was written to be very Aware of how others perceive her but just ignoring it bc she’s here to Have Fun, and the beginning was very good but the characters went from lovably dumb to plain annoying around the 70% mark. There comes a point when there has to be more to the plot than “I say something dumb, we argue, don’t talk, and then make up” ya know. Disappointing bc I was looking forward to this one.
Howl and Other Poems by Allen Ginsburg - 3 stars. I think every teenager should read howl because that’s when it’s most gonna resonate, when it’s the first time you’ve read something like this, because the Beat Generation WAS the first time they were doing this. Now though, there’s so many poems that say similar things that the moment of “I didn’t know other people felt like this” won’t ring as true. I did really like A Supermarket in California.
Fortitude Smashed by Taylor Brooke - 3 stars. This is one of those “clock runs out when you meet your soulmate” stories and it was really boring. There were also a lot of PoV switches, like multiple in one chapter and I found it distracting and annoying.
No Man of Woman Born by Ana Mardoll - 5 stars. It’s a short story compilation about trans characters subverting gendered prophecies. Really smart, interesting world building and it also juggled giving characters personalities with very little time to do it incredibly well. I liked the third story about Nociem (awesome world building) and the sweet wish dragon story at the ending.
Selected Poems of Oscar Wilde by Oscar Wilde - 4 stars. I wasn’t like, exactly sure how to rate this because the prose is beautiful, Ballad of Reading Gaol is just amazing, and several other poems really spoke to me and then BAM anti-semitic reference to the merchant of Venice. It was a lot, but also, I liked it enough I might finally read his other stuff.
Cinnamon Blade by Shira Glassman - 3 stars. It’s sort of urban fantasy esque erotic short and tbh, I think if it had been a full length novel I might have liked it more. Just too much going on in the background, and Soledad didn’t really have a personality beyond “quirky.”
Girls Made of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan - 5 stars. This is a heavy book. It’s centered around a girl named Lei from the paper caste, the lowest caste, who is forced to be a concubine for the demon king. While there, she comes to grips with the oppression her people face and falls in love with another concubine, Wren. The love story is sweet and well developed but this is a difficult book. I was unsettled and panicked the whole time I read, just like Lei is forced to be. The rough, vivid, and fascinating world building makes this an awesome, but disturbing read. I’m so excited to be deeply unsettled when I read the sequel.
Marriage of Unconvenience by Chelsea M. Cameron - 3.5 stars. Sweet, cute, and funny but it reads more like fanfic than a novel in a bad way. Like, it really needed a round of edits and also the backgrounds characters change personalities a few times. But still a fun and cute story about a lesbian who marries her best friend for the money, only for the two women to fall in love.
Our Bloody Pearl by DN Bryn - 3 stars. The concept is great but the dialogue was weird and preachy and the narrative voice was sooooo boring. It’s cute but forgettable and a lot to get through.
The Cursebreaker Countess by Sasha L. Miller - 4 stars. Kas breaks a curse on a sleeping woman named Anika mostly because the curse freaks her out, only to get dragged into a political feud involving magic that she barely understands. This was slow moving, more adventure fantasy than high fantasy, but I liked the slow pace. It was like unraveling a knot. Also Kas and Anika are awesome characters separately and as a couple they’re adorable.
Heart and Hand by Rebel Carter - 4.5 stars. Julie answers an ad for a mail order bride, packing up from her high society life to move to the Montana terrifies - except she will be marrying not one man, but a pair of best friends. I thought this was MMF bc it was on a bunch of “Bi love interests” and MMF lists but it is in fact MFM, which was slightly annoying bc the relationship between Will and Forest was incredibly romantic and it felt like a waste of a great dynamic. So I knocked off half a star. Otherwise this was a really solid read. Incredibly well written with a town that is well developed as it’s own entity, and three characters that all have lovely arcs. It’s steamy, romantic, and sugar sweet and I loved it (also WoC in a historical AND a triad romance? Bro sign me UP).
Peter Darling by Austin Chant - 5 stars. Once again I should never doubt Addi ever because holy crap this was so good. Peter Pan goes back to Neverland only to find that since he’s grown up, Neverland doesn’t appeal like it used to, but neither can he go home, to where he would never be accepted as Peter, but forced to live as his assigned gender at birth. This is like. Immaculate. Beautifully written, fast paced, romantic, heartbreaking, but with an ending that feels so full of hope. Not wrapped up with a neat bow, but instead looking to the future.

I loved the question you asked me about Malati and her clothes. Same question for Clara. What does she usually wear, why does she wear it and how does her clothing choices change over her life?
Okay, im typing with acrylics for the first time, so bear with me lol.
Clara was born in the shire, and lived there for 33 years, so as a young child, she mostly wore the floral prints and skirts that are so common there. she wore no shoes, as none were ever offered, and while her feet definitely had more resistance to rough terrain than most other creatures of middle earth had, she was always confused as to why she always got injured stepping on thorns and rocks while the other children were just fine.
Of course, this changes when Dwalin takes charge of her. He's quite horrified that the lass had been without boots her whole life, especially when he found all the scars on her feet, so the first thing they did upon arriving at the blue mountains was going to the cobblers.
While in the blue mountains, Clara adopted the dwarven garb, consisting of heavy furs, wool, and leather. In fact, often times she would wear heavier clothing than her friends, due to her not being nearly completely cold-proof like a full dwarf.
After being kidnapped, Clara, along with Athenir, would mostly wear clothing that they were able to make from old tablecloths or curtains that were left out, because the man who bought them never offered them anything. It was especially difficult in the winter.
After being rescued by Rantin, Clara wore the clothes of a ranger, which was basically any dark clothing that was comfortable and practical. She had no set outfit, only getting new apparel if something became worn and tarnished.
On the quest to erebor, she has her ranger garb at the time, which consists of a leather (armored leather) vest type of outer layer (that eventually becomes burned in fire), a red linen tunic, leather pants (that she later swaps out for Ori's trousers, as her other ones catch fire), boots (one of which she'll loose along with a foot, and Elrond helps fashion her a new pair that she uses to help with walking), and her undergarments. I'm not entirely sure what i will do for that, defenitelly not a corset, but i think maybe more of a sports bra in build?? Idk, i'll work on it. Here's a picture of when she reunites with Kili for the first time, that's what i have in mind for her journey outfit.
Tumblr media
After the quest is complete she wears traditional erebor clothing, mostly short robes and fine tunics and such. Dresses aren't common in dwarrow culture, to much risk for mining/forging.
After Clara's lover Nika dies, Clara journeys back to Rivendell to clear her mind, and because Sauron is back, she rejoins the rangers out of necessity, so her wardrobe goes back to the way it was before, anything comfortable and practical.
For battle, Clara typically goes in with armor on the lighter side, since she doesn't like being weighed down. Her excuse is that she's a smaller target, so she's harder to hit and doesn't need a whole lot of armor. She also may have learnt it from Dwalin, who's practically a berserker, but he doesn't approve of it one bit and will do all in his power to make clara layer up. he unfortunately doesn't have a lot of power in that area. Luckily enough, Clara never went through the misfortune of being severly injured due to lack of armor.
Tumblr media
and the stress was caused by Clara not wearing armor as a child and adult.
Also, Clara loves skirts, despite them not being common with dwarves, simply for the twirling of it. She wears them often when traveling too, since it makes bathroom breaks much easier.
Thanks for asking about this, it's always fun to talk about my ocs, and hear about yours!

actor!au lol
anyway GOOMT actor!au
Harry starts dating Douglas before they even start casting for the role (neither are out, and both have dated women in the past, currently “single” after a rough (Harry) and a mutual (Douglas) breakup)
as was hilariously suggested by a friend, James is an actor known for his comedic roles (like Jim Carrey) and is doing his first Really Serious Role in GOOMT so this is something he’s being looked at really critically for
show him where he should give a shit lmfao
James is 25 to his role’s 27 and Harry’s 43 to his role’s 48 and he’s still not sure how he feels about it (to which James has said that it allows him to “grow into” his role’s age and really encompass the part since well, it’s going to be a 4 season show, he’s gonna age, you saw how the Stranger Things cast changed in just those few years, it’s genius to cast him younger and then let Harry get right into that actual sweet spot! Harry agrees, but fuck you, dude)
Harry had to gain weight for the role and he’s never been happier to
James was raised speaking English and Polish
it’ll be James’s first gig playing a gay role and Harry’s eh maybe sixth if he counts the TV parts - which includes GOOMT, as it’s going to be a 4 season TV show. probably for netflix or smth. Forbidden Netflix
James has called his role the “worst Stepford Wife”
they’re both fairly private people. Harry prefers doing live/taped interviews and going on talk shows to written, and James prefers the photoshoots and written interview. he works much better when he can do it with a co-star. luckily, his and Harry’s chemistry is great. they get so chatty that they end up clamoring to talk over each other and even themselves, so all the jokes an interviewer can make about “are you guys like your roles where you can be more quiet and you more chatty” is null and void
(esp since James, since he dislikes live/taped interviews; however, he isn’t quiet during them or anything, it’s about The Vibe he gives off)
there is a promotional/official instagram and twitter ofc, which is handed off to some cast members for a day
Harry almost lost his rights to the instagram account when he posted 22 mostly blurred photos of production, the ground/his feet, the trailers, makeup, etc, with little or no description or tags (and maybe they made sense). why? because he was in character, that’s why.
James has not been given the privilege to the accounts yet and his asking for it is just delaying it further because Sus
he’s also currently dating a merchandise collector who also does replicas and restorations that he met at a comicon (he was going there for funsies, not for any promotional thing). he bought a Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers black ranger helmet from her and got to talking. she crafted a legitimate motorcycle helmet to look like the black ranger helmet and then said yes to a date. she rode with him on his motorcycle wearing a MMPR yellow ranger helmet. they’ve been dating for two years
she’s very welcome on the set and everyone p much adores her. they have not yet cast Heather (or Douglas at this point, too early) but there are (totally not serious ahah) jokes about her auditioning for Heather. she finds it flattering, but everyone knows she’s not interested
:)
