Batfam time travel fic idea: Dick is sent back in time to his younger body, around his early Nightwing era. But the younger body he’s sent back into at that particular moment happens to be concussed or sick or poisoned or something, so Dick (who wasn’t expecting the time travel in any case) is completely disoriented. Ten-year-old Stalker Tim sees him shivering/throwing up and goes to help out – and Dick just sees his little brother.

Tim has to deal with a confused, rambling Nightwing who is calling him by name and trusting him to help him and saying all sorts of concerning things.

(Maybe this is in New York, and Tim manages to call the rest of the New Teen Titans, who turn up and have to deal with this kid Nightwing has latched on to and won’t let go of, who apparently knows their identities. At least he seems as confused as they are about why this is happening.)

*hits blunt* Joker has a long-standing one-sided beef with Nightingale in the Blood Blossom au because Nightingale clocked his shit almost immediately and began "sharks are smooth"ing at him. But because Nightingale only comes out in case of emergencies, Joker has to come up with increasingly convoluted schemes to trap the Batman in order to lure him out.

This has the opposite desired effect because this is the equivalent of using increasingly difficult locks to keep the raccoons out of your trash. All you're doing is teaching the raccoons how to pick locks. This also pisses off the other Rogues because Joker keeps making trapping the Batman exponentially harder all because he's beefing with his teenage son.

Doesn’t matter how much you fortify your house of cards, it can still all come crumbling down with a gust of wind. And what then? One king (queen) deposes another, Vapolis continues on. No one will mourn. Orla knows this. Orla is terrified by this.

If I were to write my own original superhero comic, I would use the 2:1 (and sometimes even worse) gender ratio but in reverse so that for every one male character, there’s two female characters. as reparations for all the male-majority superhero casts. There’s not even gonna be an explanation for it, they don’t have a matriarchy, it’s set in the modern U.S. My female-majority cast requires no explanation because no male-majority cast is asked if there’s an explanation behind them

can someone explain better than i can why a somewhat consistent canon matters? to me "fuck canon we do what we want" has its limits, to an extent its freeing and you can do alot with it ... but if theres no groundwork to build on? what does it matter? when canon doesnt matter why does anything? why spent time thinking about it?

this was about arcane at first but it also applies to totk, when the canon can just be erased and replaced, changed with no consistency or rules i cant invest time thinking about anything bc .... it can all be changed anyway, without any rules in fiction it all stops being interesting to me

having rules, or groundwork to work with and around is fun and interesting, but when its made clear that nothign of that actually matters? its boring and i feel cheated, just like how i felt so cheated by totk, it makign clear that everything botw established never actually mattered, it being downright erased ... that is why my love for zelda has faltered into indifference, the only thing making me hold on to it being the projects i have already invested so much time into ..

if you read a book and important details change or go missing after you read it, or with every time you read through it with no rule or system to it at all? its tiring and annoying, why care when they dont, how can i care about a character if i know they will just go and completely change who they are while acting like that was always how it was, idk, im bad at putting my feelings into thoughts :I

TBHX EP07 THOUGHTS (possibly incoherent)

Ok, so I need to rewatch the episode again, but I didn't have an immediate negative reaction to Yang Cheng's jealousy being the reason why he hesitated — as other people have said, it displays his humanity and how complicated and nuanced humans are.

HOWEVER, why it feels so out of place to me (along w/ the forced awkward romance-ish scenes between YC & XQ but that's separate), is because of how they have framed Yang Cheng & Shang Chao's relationship leading to this point.

Sure, he may have been jealous before, but we see them genuinely become friends; we see Yang Cheng's focus shift to his friendship w/ Shang Chao rather than his feelings for Xia Qing. We see him hold Shang Chao in such a high regard as the first person to truly believe in Yang Cheng completely, someone who believes in the person and the hero persona. Any thoughts of Shang Chao as a love rival have been absent from the narrative.

Thus, my brain has been mulling it over as to how this could've been framed in a way that aligns with what we've seen thus far and I think it would've worked better if Yang Cheng's hesitation came from his lack of self-esteem? Shang Chao is everything he's not, but he is also the person that is helping Yang Cheng become someone he likes being. So perhaps his hesitation stems from doubting if he can do things on his own? Is he capable of being E-Soul, of being this more confident, competent person without Shang Chao's faith and guidance? Then he sort of says to himself in the moment "screw that, even if I don't believe in myself, I need to save the person who believes in me" — Gurenn Lagann style you know?
