"Stop pretending to be all perfect" - Omitting the "you hypocrite" part, it's as if Wreck is begging Nice to stop losing himself to his "perfect" hero image. he just wants his friend back 😭😭

And this? "I'll protect every perfect smile/including yours"

Honestly I really hope we get so see more of Wreck, because so far he is the ONLY person who cares that Nice committed suicide. Like I love Moon she's great, but she knew this man for three years and didn't give two shits that he was dead and offed himself willingly.

I think it would be a waste to discard Wreck when he's the only person so far who seemed to give a shit about Nice as a person. Especially, because I think it would be a great narrative reminder to not only Lin Ling but the audience that, no he isn't just living out his hero fantasy. He's literally stolen someone else's life. Nice wasn't just a corporate brand that everyone wants to insist he was, but an actual person with loved ones who are going to be distraught when they find out he's gone.

Like I don't blame Lin since he's had no time to process any of this, but I would enjoy a slow-burn of him realizing just how insidious what he's being forced to participate in really is.

but also. the fact that even villains are manufactured to drive ratings and views shifts my entire thought process. of course tbhx's perspective on heroes is incredibly reminiscent of idol culture and drama but the fact nice and wreck came from the same company is horrific. we don't even know how the structural damage done by them is paid for (though i guess they have enough money to fix it?? they did god knows how many advertisements and promos, surely its enough to pay for property damage), but they are quite literally destroying homes and damaging the lives of everyday citizens because of marketing and publicity.

AAAAAA what a tragedy, Wreck didn't deserve that :(((. The fact that Nice's entire hero career kinda is fake, from his nemesis to his gf, really just makes it so much worse for Lin Ling.

But what I really noticed was that Wreck's 'style' was so incredibly similar to Lin Ling's, not Nice's. I wonder if it symbolizes both Lin Ling's and Wreck's dreams of becoming a hero, but neither of them getting to truly experience it in the right way.

at least one of them got a happy ending. it was pretty sweet of Lin Ling to make everyone wish for Moon to get her freedom. (also her fight sequence with the other two SICK, and the application of her power is SO COOL and it was beautifully animated)

also, the ending, with the Enlightener becoming 'God Eye'? Sick name change, but both vaguely religious, which is a nice reference.

I think its super interesting how fear is a kind of trust in TBHX. it is the trust that someone will hurt you. trusting in a bad outcome to occur. Fear is just trusting in something negative happening. It seems that the implication is that the only reason fear creates more "evil" powers is because the powers given are based on the expectations of the people's trust (like with Moon's abilities) so when you expect someone to do something bad, they gain the power to do so. very cool and im a big fan of it :3

to be hero x spoilers for episode 2 because I gotta ramble for just a sec-

can I just say the whole thing with nice's "nemesis" is so fucking tragic and I'm kind of disappointed that it wasn't lingered on for more time.

He and Nice were best friends. since before they joined the company. they wanted to become heroes together but settled for being hero and nemesis so long as they still get to be close. Nice strived for perfection in everything, even in his 'domestic' life with moon to the point where even she never saw him not trying to be perfect. with joining this company, he signed up for this "perfect hero" life. a fake life. so the time he spends with his best friend is probably one of the few remnants he has of his past life, before he became a hero. being with him was the one place where nice doesn't have to be perfect.

but then, they started to be in contact less and less (likely because of the company not making more work for the nemesis role as we see from the miss J phone scene). this is also coincidentally not too long before nice's suicide. it's been stated that nice had already not been doing well too. while it may be a combination of things, it could also be tied to him losing touch with his best friend, responding less and less to his texts. he was thrown headfirst into the hero life completely and eventually, he just couldn't take it anymore.

plus, think about it from the "nemesis"s perspective. you and your best friend got to be in the limelight together, fighting against each other. you've finally achieved your dream together. but then, you start to lose touch. the role of a 'hero' you wanted so bad is now tearing you apart, the company you work for doesn't need you anymore and your best friend is left to be by himself in this role with a lot of pressure. then, you don't hear back from him in months. complete silence. you wonder how he's doing without you, basking in the spotlight. then you find out. he's dead. he killed himself. and you didn't get a chance to be there for him.

and now worse. another guy replaced him. because that's all he is to this company, a company that you probably worked so hard for in hopes of being a hero. a company that represented your dream. that company sees your best friend as a brand and when he killed himself, they moved onto the next guy.

just... what the fuck.

there's so much here about this society where heroes are treated as celebrities and brands and the dehumanization that comes with it. I would have loved for this show to have explored that more. but alas. what a shame.

also, I fucking love moon. literally, her characterization this episode is SO refreshing compared to the 'goddess' view of her last episode. honestly, I was a little disappointed when moon's 'death' cliffhanger was a fake out but I like this more a lot more. because it's her persona as a hero that ends up "dying." and as a result, she gets the freedom she's always wanted. plus, this episode marked the end of this idolized version of her that lin ling had. in episode 2, he actually gets to see the real her, the messy, strong-willed, stubborn, not so nice her.

in his mind, the "goddess" moon died and the human her was born. I like the symbolization. even if the cliffhanger ending has been kinda cheapened now.

there's def a lot that could be said here about how female heros are treated considering how moon was portrayed as an accessory to nice for so much of her career but this post is getting too long. love the RP and can't wait to watch what the rest of the season has in store~
