Theory
In the new Link Click arc, Xia Fei and Vein are key pieces of a larger conflict that reveals a new level of complexity in time travel. Xia Fei could be a victim caught in a series of events brought about by Vein, who not only understands Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang's abilities, but could also be attempting to control or replicate them.
Vein could have been behind a tragic event in the past, involving the death of someone close to Xia Fei, which would explain his emotional connection to the case. His influence in Chinatown could be used to manipulate fate, making any attempt to correct the past end up causing greater damage.
The relationship between Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang could falter if their methods and moralities clash as they try to stop Vein. On one hand, Cheng Xiaoshi might want to save Xia Fei at all costs, while the more analytical Lu Guang might fear the consequences of breaking the rules of time.
This arc could also reveal the origin of their powers – perhaps an accident or experiment Vein was involved in, making it the catalyst for the entire story. The climax could be a confrontation where the protagonists must decide whether saving Xia Fei and facing Vein is worth the risk of altering time irreversibly.

I really like how power transfer works in Link Click.
Some people simplify it as “you gain a person’s power by holding them as they die,” but it goes much deeper than that. It feels more like a dying will—an intentional desire of the person to pass on their power to someone they trust (or at least I hope that’s how it works; imagine if one of the antagonists figures out that powers can be transferred just by touching the dying person). I personally like to believe that’s It’s also a demonstration love (not only romantic), as if the power—the most valuable gift the person possesses—can only be given to someone they deem worthy, someone they really care about. I see it as a kind of dying wish, especially in Cheng Xiaoshi’s case.
Li Tianxi’s situation with Qiao Ling is a bit trickier. I think it was more trust and gratitude, unless Li Tianxi specifically intended for Qiao Ling to use it for a good purpose. In that case it was more desperation)?
Either way, I find it beautiful how power transfer becomes such a meaningful link, a demonstration of trust from the one who dies, knowing that the person receiving their power will carry forward a part of their essence and their wishes.
