is it just me that belives natsu mental health is secretly horrific. he out of the blue lost igneel, and then was sent into a brand new scenery, the guild, where he had to attempt to make friends to people. baring in mind natsu had never been around other people before that, only igneel. he was then teased by everyone for not knowing how to properly read and write, hes constantly called an idiot and dumb, and the way that i see it natsu does EVERYTHING for everyone in that guild, but only a few number of people have done that for him.
i feel like one of the main reasons he liked lucy straight off the bat, was because she didnt tease him, or make fun of him. instead she bought him dinner, thanked him, and spoke to him like he was an equal immediately after meeting him.
i love fairy tail, but…dont u think sometimes they were abit dicky towards some of their members💀 lets not forget the time lucy literally caught them all talking shit about her behind her back insinuating she was a pretty princess because of her past and she has an incredibly bad temper. yetnot long before that they were like whatttt ur rich? pfft who cares we love you!
anyway back to natsu, he’s spent his entire life believing he was in control of his own life to then find out that actually no he wasnt, he was given to igneel, he was sent to the future and he was brought back to life purely to be used as a weapon to kill zeref when the time was right. i cant be the only one that think natsu 100% has identity issues and just mental health problems period. we just dont think he does because hes bad at communicating his feelings and doesnt enjoy being vulnerable with people when it comes to taking about himself.
he’s constantly told your human, your a dragon, your a demon, your a monster etc etc that has to affect him in someway surely.
anyway i love doing posts like these i want to do lucy next lowkey🙈

What makes Natsu and Lucy work as a romantic pairing is their solid friendship, and Hiro Mashima does a good job displaying that from the start of the series when their bond begins. Something as simple as the handshakes that those two used to make makes me happy to see that they have a solid foundation for their friendship, which develops throughout the series (eventually into a romantic relationship). Sometimes, the best pairings are where the two characters can become friends and build trust and respect for each other.
I don't talk about this subject much, but I appreciate Natsu and Lucy's friendship and how Hiro Mashima developed it.

Fairy tail headcannon a nobody wanted at all😊
- most of the dragon slayers+erza eat bugs regularly and it's gross AF to everyone
-Natsu because he grew up in the woods and they were like the number one abundant source of food, same for Wendy but she stopped for a while because Carla told her it was nasty (as soon as she joined the fairy tail guild she reverted so incredibly fast)
-gajeel pretends to thinks it's gross but secretly he really likes the taste he just doesn't wanna have that in common with natsu
- erza and Erik because in the evil slave tower where everyone was starving if you found a bug you ate it before anyone else could grab it from you.
- sting did not do that growing up but started when natsu told him it was good, he does not agree but does it anyway so natsu thinks he's cool
- rogue only tried it a couple times because frosch wanted to try it to be more like a frog and rogue is nothing if not supportive
- laxus grew up normal and thinks all of them are disgusting
- Lucy has the WORST financial skills. Legit they are awful. Everyone thinks she's always broke cuz of the tpd (team property damage) constantly making them lose their reward to repair bills but (while that is a factor) when Lucy sees smth cute that would look great in her apartment she just cannot help herself. Lucy will be so careful trying to save her money then she'll see a new set of stationary and goes "haha rent what rent"
- the hand me down game at fairy tail was fucking insane when they where kids. For levy and lisanna basically everything they owned had been passed down like 6 times already
- that red shirt natsu wore in the flashbacks? Before him it was erza's, and before her it was canas, and before her it was laxus.
- gray wears almost exclusively white jackets because jackets are expensive and if he loses them he would rather they be easy to spot so he can find them again rather then have to buy a new one
- sometimes people will invite erza places for the scary dog privilege when they dont want to be bothered by strangers. Erza has no idea thats the reason she just thought people really liked walking with her through rough parts of town in the middle of the night.
- Carla and lilly have insane beef, for no damn reason. Like both of them are fairly polite so neither will say it openly but every conversation between the two is the most passive aggressive petty insult battle you could imagine
- freed, levy, Lucy and later jellal have a book club where they all meet up and talk about whatever they're reading and play Scrabble and talk a lot of shit about their annoying ass friends.
- happy sometimes comes but he is under no circumstances allowed to bring natsu(he knows what he did)
- when erza met seigrain/jellal in the magic counsel she first tried to attack him, when that proved to be a bad idea she later started specifically destroying stuff under his jurisdiction to make sure he had to deal with as much paperwork as possible
- for her modelling, Mira used to use a very light spray of holy water to remove body hair because it burns it off💀
- wendy romeo and chelia are actually best friends like they are constantly hanging out together just to go do stuff
- erza and Erik hate each other for no reason at all. Like over that year that she worked with crime sorciere they where ALWAYS BEEFING. Every time they were near each other erza was thinking insults she knew he could hear and Erik was fighting for his life not to strangle her to death.
When erza became sclass she used to sit on the 5th step of the stairs because Mira wasn't allowed on those stairs yet and it really pissed her off. She was like, just barely out of reach, so Mira would stand at the bottom the stairs yelling death threats at her and erza would be like "whattt I'm not doing anything I don't even know what your talking about in literally just sitting what are you so mad about"
- when Warren invented cellphones, despite all of them looking like modern smartphones, freed somehow managed to get one that looked exactly like a Blackberry and refuses to get a different one
- Mira used to cut her siblings hair and because she didn't know any good haircuts yet her 2 options where 1- bald or 2- bowl cut. Hence lisannas horrifying cut as a child

Atp I need ANYTHING with Laxus. I feel like I’m in love with him. His tattoos are so cool. Idk if you read the 100 year quest show yet, so maybe smth with him after the new members joined? If you didn’t maybe smth at the tourment? I’m happy with everything
The way I am in love with this man as well, I get you. He looks so fine and in the new season he looks scrumptious. So, I want to understand the 100 Year Quest a bit more before I write about it. I guess, I'll write a part 2 of this.
Lightning Sparks and Dew Light
summary: ever since you joined Fairy Tail, you've had a strange relationship with Laxus, at first you were best friends but then, things changed and somewhere along the line of growing up, everything waa gone.
c.w. : angst, fluff, GMG, best friends to enemies to rivals to lovers trope, hurt feelings, confessions, slight banter

Reader is called "Saram" meaning "Human/Person"
Tumblr media
"Wendy, have you seen my jacket?" Saram asked as she looked around Fairy Tail Team A's room. Despite not being a member of the GMG teams, Saram had roomed with them - it was the insistence of Lucy and Wendy - and had been staying there throughout the event. Currently, she was looking for her jacket as they were all going to head out to the arena for the D-3 of the games.
"I'm not sure, maybe you left it in Team B's room?" Wendy suggested as she sat on the carpet in front of the bed, Carla helping the girl tie her hair up. Saram pondered over her words for a moment, she remembered going to Team B's room with Mira, Juvia and Cana last night after dinner to drop the girls there. She had stayed in the room for awhile longer with them, talking and laughing - Gajeel and Laxus were not supposed to return until later so she made herself comfortable - and perhaps, somewhere between her stay there she must've taken off her jacket.
"I think you're right, you guys go ahead, I'll join you all at the Arena later." Saram smiled and left, hearing Erza kick awake Natsu and Gray behind her as she closed the door, and walked towards Fairy Tail B's room. The rooms were on completely different floors so it took her a bit time to get there but eventually Saram found herself standing in front of their room.
Two knocks later, Cana opened the door, a grin blooming on the brunette's face upon seeing Saram. Immediately, the card user enveloped the girl in a hug.
"Saram!"
"Cana, we just saw each other last night." Saram pats the girls head, ruffling her hair, Cana grumbled about messing up her hair, her hands coming up to fix her hair. Saram was pretty close with Cana - well she was close with everyone. except the one person - and so she knew that Cana was just kidding when she was grumbling.
"Did you need something?" Cana asked, hands on her hips. Saram nods, "I think I left my jacket here last night."
Cana hums, thinking, "Well, I was heading out, Mira and Juvia are waiting downstairs, you can go in and check. Do you want me to wait?"
Saram shook her head, "It's fine, you go on ahead, I'll close the door behind me when I leave."
Cana nods and walks out as Saram walks in. She doesn't notice Cana stopping to say something as the door closed behind. Nor does she notice the shoes that were still by the doors of the room as she walked into the room in search of her jacket. Cana shrugged in the hallway and walked away, thinking that Saram heard her words.
The woman looks through the room, not noticing the large jacket - not her own - in a corner on a single sofa. Her bare feet brushed against the carpets as she walked over to where she sat with Mira, Cana and Juvia the night before - she knew it was Mira's bed because Juvia had pointed out the picture of the Strauss siblings beside the pillow last night - talking and spending time.
"Ah, there it is." She found her jacket neatly folded on the low, small chair that was beside Mira's bed. She bent down slightly and reached her hand towards the jacket –
— when the bathroom door swung open
Tumblr media
"Where's Saram?" MiraJane asked as she sipped the coffee.
"Oh, Saram is in our room, she left her jacket there, said she'll join us once she finds." Cana shrugged as she chugged her beer.
"Where's the lightning bastard?" Gajeel chewed on a piece of iron.
"Ah, Laxus-san was taking a bath, he said that he will meet us later." Juvia said as she bit down on the piece of cake.
MiraJane and Cana paused, before they glanced at each other.
"Should we do something?" Cana asked.
"Let them fight, rather than Saram ignoring him constantly, that's better." MiraJane chuckles and the others shivered.
Tumblr media
Saram froze like a deer caught in headlights - her entire figure stilled, eyes slightly widening - as the door opened and her eyes met those of Laxus'. Steam drifting pass the bathroom door as he closed it behind him – his eyes steadfast upon her, gaze heavy – his own silhouette was frozen. They stood in silence – Saram wondered what was more hurtful, the silence or the fact that she no longer held anything to tell him – eyes on each other.
As if regaining her senses, Saram swallowed her feelings and walked towards the door, silently and Laxus watched her – considering that the bathroom had to be crossed to reach the door – as she walked closer towards him. His heavy gaze, it used to be soft and gentle once, felt like a weight upon her frame. And just as she was about to cross him, he moved. His large frame blocked her passage, she cursed how tall and bigger he was than her that he so easily blocked the path, her eyes immense darted up to meet his eyes.
"Move." She said in low voice.
"Saram, talk to me."
"Move." She emphasized.
"How long will you not talk to me?" Laxus spoke, his voice firm and tense - holding a sense of wear - but Saram didn't care. She wanted to leave. She would have used her magic but considering that he was on the B Team, she didn't want him to use his magic or injure – she isn't doing this because of him, he can go to hell – and if Fairy Tail lost because of that, she would not be able to forgive herself.
"Dreyar, get out of my way."
Laxus felt a crawl in his skin at the name. He despised it. Hated the way she called him.
"Saram, I know I have done a lot of wrong things in my life and I haven't even repented half of it yet but I really am sorry. The guild, Gramps – I will apologise for as many times needed, but, you have to talk to me." His voice was almost pleading – a stark contrast from the strong and firm Laxus – and Saram hated the way her heart faltered at the tone.
"I have nothing to say to you." Her voice was cold and unrelenting.
"Then tell me. Tell me how I can ask for forgiveness. How I can make it up to you, even a little, for everything I have done? Yell at me, fight me, curse me out – but please, talk to me, Saram."
Saram clenched her jaw and proceeded to push pass him but he grabbed onto her wrist causing her to stop. If she felt goosebumps from his touch, she doesn't acknowledge it - the way his touch was firm yet gentle – and keeps her eyes down.
"Saram–"
"You were my first friend in this guild. The first person I went on a mission with." At her sudden words, his own gaze fell upon her figure, "You were my best friend. And then you changed completely. You became colder, more violent, uncaring. Until you eventually began considering everyone beneath you when you became a S-Class Wizard."
She looked up at him, "Even that, I could have forgiven. I was willing to forgive everything. Just so I could have my best friend back. And then, you started the Battle of Fairy Tail."
Laxus' mind goes back to the events of the Harvest Festival. He, to this day, regretted that day. The day he ruined everything, ruined every bond he had and yet he was welcomed back into the guild.
Tumblr media
Saram was confused when she was suddenly not in the guild – Cardia Cathedral was recognizable immediately to her – and found herself facing Laxus. Her lips pressed into a line as she instinctively took a step back, goosebumps on her skin.
"Laxus?"
"Saram, so nice of you join me." He mocked as he sat there.
"What's the meaning of this? Stop this mess, Laxus, you can still fix this." Saram tried to reason but flinched when lightning struck right on her side.
"Fix what? This is the redemption of Fairy Tail, Saram!" Laxus laughed as he stood up, walking closer to her.
"Why don't we also fight and see who is stronger?" He sneered. Saram dodged to the side as lightning strike where she once stood. She shook her head at Laxus, a look of desperation in her eyes, "I don't want to fight you, Laxus. There has to be a more reasonable method to talk."
"I do. I've been itching to fight you!" He laughed and sent lightning towards, Saram's eyes widened as she put her arms in front of her in fear.
"Laxus!"
Tumblr media
"I was wrong, back then, I was an idiot. I hurt Gramps, the guild members," He clenched this jaw as he stared into Sarah's eyes, "I hurt you."
"You forced me to fight you." Saram glared, "You used your damn lightning to teleport me to you just so you could fight me." She yanked her wrist out of his grip as she took a step closer to him.
"And I regret every bit of it."
"You hurt me, you didn't hesitate one bit."
Laxus clenched his fists as he couldn't move his gaze away from Saram, "How can I make it up to you, Saram?"
"I don't know, can you? I have too much anger, hurt, pain in my heart to forgive you like the others have." She truthfully concised.
"Then," This time his gesture was soft as he placed his hand on her head, her body voluntarily looking up at him, "Can I hope that there is a chance of forgiveness as well?"
She paused, there was a moment of silence before she scratched her cheek, "......I won't say for sure but I'll think about it..."
Laxus' lips twitched into a small smile, barely visible as he nods, "That's enough for me now."
"I didn't forgive you."
At her rebuttal, Laxus could not help the grin that came to his face, "I know."
"Don't smile."
"I'm not."
Tumblr media
Saram didn't know how it happened. One moment she was beside Asuka in the Fairy Tail cheer area and the next she found herself kicked harshly in the stomach, depriving her of air. She couldn't even decipher what was happening, mind disoriented, as she found herself held up in the air by red locks of hair on her hands and legs. Gaining her steadiness, she found her eyes meeting those of Laxus'.
His eyes were furious and wide in rage. Bolts of lightning sparked around him as his eyes were dark.
"Let go of her." He glared.
"Lax- mmph!" Saram struggled as Flare wrapped hair around her mouth, muffling her words. A muffled scream left Saram as she felt her skin burn where Flare's hair was holding her, her body convulsing inwards.
"What a pretty girl." Flare gave a cold smile as she tightened the grip.
Laxus felt his blood boil as he watched Saram struggle. Ivan laughed and when a muffled shrill scream left Saram as magic hit her, hot and head on, Laxus felt his restraint snap.
Saram was barely awake, she couldn't use her magic. Something was stopping her from using it. Her body felt drained and she felt like ants were crawling up her skin as her body convulsed in pain. She was barely aware of Laxus fighting Raven Tail as she fought to keep her consciousness. Her ears were ringing, her vision felt tunnel-like.
What she did register, was that someone held her limp body in strong arms, her head against their chest as they held her close to them. She knew that scent. The scent that she was aware of her entire teenage years and adulthood. And as her eyes closed, she found herself clutching onto that person for dear life.
Laxus clenched his jaw as he held her, running to the infirmary with her body, ignoring the yells and shouts of shock and surprise when the true arena was revealed. He found Wendy ready to heal Saram as he laid her onto the infirmary bed. He didn't leave. Laxus stayed by her side, eyes trained upon her, watching how she breathes slowly, the slight stirring and the way her face frowns at times.
And when she gained consciousness, Laxus practically engulfed her as he hugged her, his large stature easily dwarfing her own. Saram stayed quiet but he felt her hands grasp onto his turtleneck as he felt his shirt dampen. He placed a hand over her hair, a softness that he never he could relay came through as he held her.
"Sorry, I dragged you into something against your wish again."
"Shut up."
"I'm quiet."
"Stop smiling."
"I'm not."
"You are." She leaned back and looked up at him, face scrunched into a frown yet it didn't hide her tear streaks. Laxus smiled, it was more of a smirk, as he cupped her face with his large, calloused, rough hands.
"I'm not."
"You drag me into weird situations."
"Sorry."
"Shut up."
"Sorry."
"Laxus!"
She hits his chest in annoyance as Laxus chuckled, deep and rich, it didn't hurt him, but he knew that he deserved at least this much.
"Sorry, Saram." He sighed, leaning his forehead against her own, his eyes closed. Saram grumbled but the way her hands clenched onto his turtleneck betrayed her words. The way she didn't push him away or yell, contradicted everything she knew of her own feelings.
"You're forgiven this time."
"About the harve-"
"Don't push it."
"Sorry."

You guys I'm actually crying over chapter 204.5 (which is technically an ad for a certain company we're all boycotting btw) but ignoring the actual ad THE STORYLINE WAS SO??? GOOD???? the Natsu characterization in this was INCREDIBLE (be prepared for intense 100yq hatred) and it portrayed exactly why I fell in love with nalu in the first place....
Summary and analysis below (doesn't incl all the pages btw!!)
Tumblr media
We start off with Lucy finding Natsu and Happy at her place, as always.
Tumblr media
this is followed by him being like "do you think we'll peek or something" which... 100yq natsu would have... that IMPOSTER...
Anyways while she's taking a bath, Natsu and Happy are browsing around Lucy's room and find a book that stands out. (Btw right next to this book is her diary, 100yq natsu would've gone straight for that). However they end up accidentally destroying it and start panicking. They ask Lucy if they can "borrow it" and Lucy panics at first, saying it's precious and not to touch it, but relents when they say they found it "interesting".
Tumblr media
fast forward, we see them worn out after trying and failing to find a replacement copy. ONCE AGAIN, they're doing this because it's something precious to LUCY. Not because they care about reading, or because the book has any value to them, but because they understand it's important to HER. Natsu (and Happy) going the extra mile for things that are important to Lucy is SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART of their entire dynamic.
continuing, Lucy walks into the guild and asks how they're finding the book, they say it's interesting. Lucy gets SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THIS and starts talking non stop ab the book. Happy asks her why this book is so important to her and...
Tumblr media
Y I K E S.
So yeah, they ultimately decide that lying isn't it and they should apologize upfront.
Tumblr media
this is so beautiful to me, idk like the imagery of them bowing so sincerely is so.... and like wow MASHIMA seems like natsu IS capable of acknowledging his own wrongdoings and offering genuine apologies. I'm not even talking ab the whole post tartaros situation no, I'm talking about fucking 100yq, where natsu actually physically hurts Lucy and doesn't apologize for it (AND IN FACT ITS PLAYED FOR A GAG)(IMPOSTER!!! NOT MY NATSU!!!)
Soooo Lucy doesn't take it well and runs away.
Tumblr media
the fact that they didn't stop their search here. the fact that they EXPANDED it to other towns to try and find her the book THIS IS JUST <3333
Anyways, Lucy returns and reveals dozens of copies of the book...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My heart actually broke for her here because as someone who ig creates stuff as well, it really can be painful to have no audience interaction. And to have a book you wrote bomb like that...ouch... and of course she would've been excited, her best friends told her they found it interesting!!! my HEART. OUCH. and the sheer guilt on Natsu and Happy's faces here 😭 Once again, 100yq would've played this off for a gag...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And they all start bawling (and the ad comes in so I will stop there) but YEAH. THIS WAS SO BEAUTIFUL??? The way she's regretful too, the way they're still trying to apologize and make her feel better I'm :(. This is what makes nalu work and it feels like mashima is forgetting that ab his own work... they're both genuinely good and kind to each other... like not to get sidetracked but there has always been goofy fanservice moments but there were also so many wonderful, emotional, complex scenes with them with depth and maturity and I just feel like that's lacking now. So reading this was like getting punched in the face srsly because wow... THIS is the natsu I know and love ugh .....

Insecure ~ Natsu Dragneel x Male Reader
Natsu is insecure about you having past partners - SHORT smut -> Hurt/comfort Top!Natsu x Bottom!Reader word count: 750 - Short fic in general lol Nsfw / MDNI ~ amab m!reader / FDNI
Tumblr media
When you and Natsu started dating, he'd never been with anyone before
Both romantically and sexually
He's known you for a while so he knew that you'd been with a few guys before, and it never bothered him
But when the two of you had sex for the first time, you said something that made him start to feel a little insecure...
"Fuck... you feel amazing (y/n)!" Natsu grunts, his dick plowing into your ass like a madman
You moan loudly, Natsu's name bouncing off of the walls of his home
Your face was flushed and your body was sweating, you back against his bed, legs on your boyfriend's muscular shoulders
"Unnngh Natsu..." you moan, your ass clenching around the dragon slayer as kisses at your neck
His sweaty body against yours as you get closer and closer to cumming
"Fuuuuck are you sure you're a virgin, Natsu?" You moan, your dick twitching in need of release
"A-Ah... Yeah of c-course, baby Haaaaa~" Natsu moans, his face a mix of confusion from your comment and pleasure
"Holy shit - Ahhh~- you're better than anyone else I've had before FUCK!" You moan loudly
The thin string you were hanging onto snaps as you shoot ropes of white onto your chest and face
Natsu cums as well, biting your shoulder to ground himself as he finishes inside of you
His cum steaming hot, as expected of the fire dragon slayer
After the two of you clean up, you lay your head on your boyfriend's bare, muscular chest, his arm around your shoulders
You're talking about your day and a small mission you went on
But you were mainly talking at Natsu, not to him...
The pink-haired man was stuck in his thoughts
Natsu was having an argument with himself
He felt insecure that you were his first, but you had been with other men, who were probably more experienced and better than him
The other side of his internal argument was angry at himself, Natsu felt guilty as if he was slut-shaming you
It was fully within your right to have sex with as many men as you wanted before you two started dating, you were SINGLE for gods sake
But he felt icky knowing that other man had felt your touch the way he did...
"And then I ran into Lucy who-" you were mid sentence when Natsu interrupted you
"Sorry baby but... can I ask you something?" The pink haired man says meekly, avoiding eye contact
You chuckle "Yeah go ahead, I could tell you were stuck in your own thoughts anyway" you say with a smile
"Were... We're your past lovers better than me?.... like in bed" he mumbles
Natsu's question catches you off guard, to the point where you're speechless
Which Natsu takes as an answer
"Yeah I thought as much but...-"
"No! No they weren't! Sorry Salamander your question just caught me off guard" you explain, sitting up to look Natsu in the eye
"Oh... are ya sure? You don't have to lie to me, (n/n)" Natsu says as he brings a hand up to your head and plays with your hair
"I'm sure babe. You're better than any other dickhead I've been with in the past! Besides, I've only ever been with two other guys, and not one of them made me cum on their own haha" you laugh, your comments making Natsu blush
As the Dragon slayer keeps twirling your hair around his fingers, he looks into your eyes lovingly
"I'm glad I can make you feel good... cause your rock my world, (n/n)" Natsu chuckles
You laugh at his comment and after a little while, slap Natsu's shoulder gently and go to get up
"C'mon salamander, let's go start our da-" you were saying, however Natsu's tug on your arm interrupted you
"Wah!" You wail, Natsu's muscular arm immediately overpowering you, situating you onto his wide, muscular hips
"Let's go for a second round" Natsu says with a grin as the eager (no longer virgin) man grinds his hips upwards into your ass
"Noooo... I'm so tired already Natsu - bottoming is much harder than topping ya know!" You whine, but as Natsu grinds up, you too grind down
"Pleaseeee, you're hard too, (n/n)" Natsu chuckles, his rough palms rubbing up your side, his eyes focusing on your waist...
Fuck he loved your waist
"Ha.... Fuck it alright" you chuckle and bend down to kiss your boyfriend with a passionate, looooong kiss, that turned into a make-out

Natsu Dragneel Is A Real Character
Sometimes it will randomly hit me that Natsu Dragneel is a real character and not some fanfic writer's OC. Think about it, the guy is:
The brother of the most famous/infamous mage ever
Beat said brother in a one-on-one fight where his brother had INFINITE POWER and Natsu managed to BURN THE CONCEPT OF TIME/DEATH
Was reborn as the most powerful demon of all time
Was raised and trained by The Dragon King
Uses a 'Lost Magic' as his primary form of combat
Stole the power of a God Slayer
Is able to learn complex magic with only a brief, casual lesson (See him learning Level 2 Transformation Magic)
Has a pet/adopted son that is an interdimensional species of talking cat viewed as an angel
At least two beautiful women are heavily implied to want to get in his pants (Lucy and Lissana)
He canonically has a giant dick
When faced with two people who ALSO use super powerful 'Lost Magic', at a technically higher level than him I might add, he was able to beat BOTH of their super forms without using his own power boosting transformations
He one-shotted a literal god of war by punching it in the face
He is the technical prince of an empire WAY bigger and more powerful than the kingdom he lives in
... That's all I can think of right now, but that is MORE than enough to prove my point. Don't get me wrong, I really like Fairy Tail and Natsu in general, but still.

Nalu Writing Practice-Bets & Loops
I'm so out of practice with writing, please let me know what y'all think
Lucy rubbed at her temples, her eyes squeezing shut as if that could drown out the sound of arguing next to her.  She just wanted to read her book and instead she had a front row seat to a soap opera.
"You let him call you Ever?”  Bickslow’s incredulous voice demanded, ruining her fifth attempt to read the same line. “Honestly, just because the idea of romance is lost on you does no–” “I am very romantic–stop laughing, Fried–” “See, even Fried,--”
“I’d like to stay out of this,” The green haired mage piped up, wincing when both of his friends whirled towards him instead.
Lucy had changed her usual seat in hopes of a more peaceful spot to read, and usually, this area would’ve been fine. Of course, Evergreen had decided to tell Laxus that her date with Elfman had gone well, which led to Bickslow spitting his drink out and the following argument. “It’s not like I’m Natsu or some shit,” Bickslow argued and Lucy blinked, slowly tuning into their argument again.  “Careful,” Laxus drawled, eyes flickering over to Lucy’s as he smirked. “Blondie’s right there,”
“What is that supposed to mean?” She demanded, sliding her bookmark into place before snapping the book shut. “Talking about Natsu’s romantic failures, white right in front of his biggest–only–failure, isn’t wise or kind,” Fried supplied in a tone that she supposed was meant to be helpful.  She distantly heard the sound of chairs scooting over but was distracted by her own heartbeat in her ears and the warmth rising to her cheeks. “I–Natsu–me?”  She spluttered, eyes widening to saucers. “See,” she overheard Bickslow grumble to Evergreen. “I’m not that–” “Hey!” “What he means,” Evergreen cut in, a smirk worming its way onto her face. “Natsu obviously is in love with you, everyone knows it, except you. And maybe him.” “We’re friends,” she answered with a roll of her eyes that was heavily counteracted with her deep blush. “He doesn’t feel that way about me and neither do–” Her weak rebuttal was canceled out by a loud whoop, followed by a crash and– “Gray did it!”
“Natsu did it!” Lucy groaned, sliding her book into her bag and accepting defeat as she stood up. “You know,” Evergreen began, something similar to mischief flickering in her eyes. “If you really don’t like him, why don’t you try dating around? I have some friends I could set you up with,” she offered, her tone far too sweet for her. “Just check with him first, make sure there’s no set jobs or anything.” Lucy narrowed her eyes, sensing a trap but unsure of where it was. She huffed, turning on her heel. “Fine,” she succeeded with a shake of her head. “Just so you all–”  She gave a pointed look to the rest of her friends who were listening in, “Leave it alone.” She started to walk off towards Natsu and Gray, or rather, the tumbling mess of limbs that was Natsu and Gray when she was cut off by Levy.
“Are you actually going to tell him?” Her best friend asked, cocking her head.  Lucy sighed, running her fingers through her hair. “I might as well,” she admitted, looking down at the bluenette. “It’ll get the guild off my back and stop giving me–” She cut herself off, checking to make sure nobody else heard her near admission. Luckily, only Levy smiled at her with a knowing, sad, look in her eyes. “I think you should just ask him,” she suggested with a bright smile. “He may surprise you and jealous dragons are never the best thing to deal with, trust–” “Levy, I love you and appreciate your help but it’s just–” She frowned, shaking her head. “We’re just friends and he hates change, I don’t want to ruin that.” She offered a weak grin that didn’t quite reach her eyes as she shrugged. “Don’t worry about the jealousy, Natsu doesn’t have a romantic bone in his body.” With that, she continued her trek over to Natsu and Gray, swallowing her unnecessary nerves. “Luce!” Natsu’s excited voice called otu to her over the noise, the pink hair boy bouncing up with a grin. “What are ya doing here? I thought you were finishing that dumb lovey-dovey book today?” Lucy frowned, crossing her arms. “It’s not dumb, it’s romantic,” she corrected with a sigh. “And I–” She cut herself off, grimacing at the memory. “Changed my mind,” she settled on with a shrug.  He only grinned at her, glancing over to Gray with a laugh.
“Lucy goes on all these adventures with us in her real life then reads about make believe ones,” he shook his head, his mess of pnik spikes following the moment. “Your life is better than a book, Luce.” “Well,” Gray began, in a voice that usually was followed by Natsu’s fists, “Lucy’s books have charming princes and Lucy’s life has,” he glanced down at Natsu. “Temperamental dragons.” “My temperature is fine, ya lousy–” “Temperamental doesn’t mean your literal temperature, Natsu,” Lucy corrected him with a fond smile. “It means you’re–” She paused, deciding she didn’t want to be included in Erza’s wrath that day. “Nevermind.”  “See,” He whirled over to Gray, a frown tugging on his lips once he realized the ice mage’s attention was elsewhere. “Why are you looking at Juvia like that? It’s weird.” Truly. Not a romantic bone to be found. “On the note of princes,” Lucy began, immediately regretting her decision when both of the men turned their gazes back onto her. Gray looked amused whilst Natsu just seemed an odd mix of confused and something else she couldn’t place. “Evergreen wants to set me up wirth one of her friends,” she started, eyes focusing on anywhere but them. “Do we have any set mission day—” “What?” Natsu demanded at the same time Gray burst into laughter. He was rewarded with a sharp elbow in the gut from the dragon slayer, but he only doubled over as he continued to laugh.  “Shut up, Gray,” he hissed, turning back to Lucy. “You and Evergreen aren’t even friends,” He protested, eyes narrowing. “She doesn’t know the kind of guys you should be around.” Lucy bristled, her own temper rising to the surface. “Oh, and you do?” She demanded, crossing her arms.  “Obviously,” he huffed out with a laugh.
A laugh.
She was going to kill him with his own scarf.
“I mean do you think any guy Evergreen picks for ya would know the books you read? Or how to make you hot cocoa, cause for some reason you want it just above lukewarm? Or the way ya wrinkle your nose when you lie, or–”  For a moment, Lucy’s thought paused and even Gray stopped laughing as Natsu rambled on, seeming to get more frustrated with every passing second. “And–are you even listening to me, Lucy?” He demanded, hands on his hips in an oddly similar manner to her own usual annoyed posture. “I–” She paused, feeling a wave of courage surge up in her. “So if I shouldn’t go on a date with anyone, who should I be with then?” “Me,”  Despite being the one who said it, Natsu looked as shocked as Lucy felt when the words fell from his lips. He recovered quickly, his trademark grin falling over his face as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Cause, yknow, we spend so much time together and I don’t want to deal with a new–” “Shut up,” Gray advised in a hiss, still seated next to them.  “Do you–” Her eyes flicked down to Gray, narrowing slightly at the realization that he may know something she didn’t. She’d deal with that later. “Do you like me, Natsu?” Perhaps she should’ve waited for a moment when the entir guild hall wasn’t listening to them because his response would be held over her head for far longer than she ever needed. “Really, Luce?” He asked, an expression of bemusement on his features. “Gee, I thought you were supposed to be the smart one, ya weirdo.”    She was going to punch him. Or kick him. At this point, he had earned a kick. “Like isn’t the right word, I think–” he paused, and she noticed Gray giving him an almost encouraging nod. “I think I love you?” His words trailed off at the end of the sentence, sounding unsure, nervous, and so un Natsu like that she completely reconsidered kicking him. The kick could wait, what she wanted to do in that moment couldn’t. Lucy walked closer to him, ignoring the way her hands trembled as she clutched his scarf, then promptly used it to pull him into a kiss.  She ignored the way the guild hall erupted into cheers and complaints of loss bets, focusing on Natsu’s hands sliding over her waist, both of their lips forming smiles against the others, the way they fit so perfectly. “Okay, okay, enough with the PDA,” Gray groaned and Lucy yelped, breaking away from Natsu. Her cheeks flared, promptly becoming far too aware of the guild hall. “Says the stripper,” “Yeah yeah, go take that energy out on–” “Finish that sentence, I dare you,” Natsu’s hand had somehow grabbed Lucy’s during their argument, lacing their fingers together. He turned back to face her, the bright grin on his face mirroring her own.
By the time the happy couple had gone home, the hall was still awake with murmurs of what had occurred. “You so cheated, Ever,” Elfman groaned, dropping his head in his hands. His girlfriend snorted, but still ran her fingers through his hair fondly as she glanced over at the rest of the thunder legion, currently going through their winnings.
They had bet on not only the month but the location of when the two would confess.  “There were no rules against offering one of them an out,” she said with a faux innocent smile. “Just interfering with their own relationship.”
“Loopholes,” Cana grumbled bitterly with a swig of her beer. Or vodka. Hopefully, just beer. "At least it finally fucking happened.”

Hey!! Your fairy tail fic was really good, i like how simple but cute it was (◍•ᴗ•◍) can you write headcannons of natsu and gray with a reader who is shy and quiet? gets really anxious when theres a lot of people around them? gn reader too :) Thank you if you accept! (≧▽≦)
natsu & gray with a quiet s/o
Tumblr media
thank you smm for your kind words, it means a lot <3 + i just casually remembered the time a spider was crawling down my arm and when i flung it away the mf did a back flip lmao
Tumblr media
natsu dragneel !
at first he doesnt understand
like, he wants everyone to know about his s/o and brag as much as he can
so he drags you over to where his friends are constantly, not aware of your shy nature
natsu does know you’ve always been quiet, and it took a while to get you out of your shell, but he thinks since you’re both dating you’ve become more comfortable suddenly
“hey guys! this is my amazing partner, y/n! they’re incredibly strong i bet they could kick your ass” – natsu
happy and lucy scold him about it
“you’ll only make others want to fight y/n! what if they don’t want to?”
natsu doesn’t have much social awareness, if you don’t say anything to him he’ll just think you’re okay with it
if you do speak up about how you feel and aren’t comfortable with being around so many people he’ll be confused
“you don’t like being around people? why?”
questions a lot– is confused but nods and tries not to do it so much
he’s fine with just having you for himself anyway, could be for training, missions, going out to eat, etc. natsu won’t complain
if you both are out somewhere and you get anxious, just hold on to him and natsu will reciprocate the gesture with no hesitation, its just on instinct, his arms wrap around you and he just has you held securely against his chest
doesn’t matter what he’s doing, as long as he isn’t in battle he will hold you until you feel better
will help you socialize more though if you are willing to do so, if it’s really serious he has no problem talking for you
it’s how he shows his care and love for you
Tumblr media
gray fullbuster !
this one is more aware and understands more too lmao
he can tell how you feel just by taking a look at you, no questions asked
if he feels you’re anxious, gray will hold your hand. if it’s too stressful for you he’ll take you out of the place and go somewhere you two are alone
knows he isn’t too vocal about his love so he makes it up by expressing it through his actions
one being to comfort you whenever you need it
won’t pressure you to be around many people all the time, as he isn’t too social himself either
if you cling onto him when you get shy and don’t want to talk, gray feels pride in it but acts nonchalant about it lmao
like “?😳” on the inside and “😐” on the outside
despite that he doesn’t push you away though this guy is beaming with pride
his s/o trusts him that much??? it boosts his ego
finds your shy, quiet self adoring though
this way he proves how strong he is and can protect his partner from any danger coming their way
you’re too precious to him, gray treats you with such gentleness
whispers “i love you” and other sweet affirmations when you’re alone, when your anxiety is high
also praises you whenever you manage to be around people and don’t hide away
“you did a good job, im proud of you” with a small smile
might even pat your head (AUTOCORRECT CHANGED IT TO ‘pay’ 💀💀💀)

How can you say NaLu is even semi canon when Natsu doesn't even share his thoughts and fears and all with Lucy?
For contrast there is Juvia and Gray where Gray literally cried when Juvia admitted she was the one who killed the demon controlling his father. That was actual development. But Igneel died and Natsu left with a note and even after he comes back neither is Igneels death, nor is Aquarius being sacrificed nor Natsu leaving is ever addressed.
I love NaLu but I think it's being terribly handled. Natsu still hasn't opened up to Lucy and it's hindering their development. He cares about her no doubt but still keeps his heart close to him.
I think this is something that many of us want but it just won't happen.
NaLu is different from other ships, they don't do words, they do actions.
if you are hoping for a deep long talk out of this two, have a sit because you are gonna need it.
Natsu knew he fucked up after leaving, that's why he brought FT back. He wasn't going to, but after seeing how much it was affecting Lucy, he did.
I don't really know about Aquarius, it doesn't appear in the manga but it's implied that everyone knows. How? I don't know.
Natsu is someone who keeps his problems to himself, even from those closest to him. I kind of understand him because I do the exact same thing. Not because we don't care about them but because we don't want to burden them with our shit.
We are not getting a sensitive talk from this two any time soon, and to be honest, that's good, because that's not nalu.
Actions speak louder than words

Hike in Heels
Summary: Natsu takes Lucy on a surprise trip to Hargeon, where they relive their first encounter. Notes: (At the end) Ao3
***
“Please, please, PLEASE, let me take a break!” Lucy almost sobbed as she took another step. A two-day trip to Hargeon was not the best way to break in her new heels, and she honestly never would have picked those shoes if she knew that the “quick walk” Natsu had been talking about, was in fact a hike and not a leisure stroll.
“Come on, you already know that it’s only another 30 minutes, you can manage!” Natsu slowed down briefly at first but came to a complete halt when he looked down at Lucy’s foot, that she was now massaging tenderly. They had a scary amount of red, inflamed looking blisters, and he almost winced at the sight.
“Does it look like I’ll manage?” Lucy sneered back. Natsu frowned at her foot at first, for making Lucy suffer, and then at the shoes that were the very cause of her suffering.
“Hop on my back,” he said, crouching down in front of her. Lucy would normally decline offers like that, but she had already used up too much of time on Horologium’s schedule, so borrowing him for a ride wouldn’t be possible, and though she could walk barefoot the last bit, her feet could really need the relief from all the pressure. That, and the path they were walking on had surprisingly sharp pebbles – something she learned from another unfortunate pick of footwear.
“Thanks,” she mumbled, annoyed that her pride had even allowed her to get her feet this bad in the first place. Had she asked him for his help earlier, she would probably have only half the number of blisters that she currently was cursed with. If only Wendy or Shelia was nearby to relieve her from it.
After climbing onto Natsu’s broad back, they were once again on their way. The immediate relief from pressure helped Lucy truly relax, urging her to use Natsu’s left shoulder like a pillow. He could act really heroic when he wanted to. That’s of course until he starts complaining about her weight, which he usually would do as soon as she mounted him. Though, today he’s unusually quiet, leaving the air around them only filled with the sounds of his rhythmic steps against the gravel and the birds chirping.
“Why are we even going to Hargeon in the first place?” Lucy asked for the tenth time this day, knowing she probably wouldn’t get a proper answer, but still hoping that she was wearing that secretive shield down.
“I told ya’ it’s a secret,” Natsu answered, still not faltering. At this point Lucy didn’t know whether she should be excited or worried for this trip – for all she knew, a horribly embarrassing job with little to no pay could be waiting in the town they were heading towards. That, or Lucy had once again underestimated Natsu’s kindness, and some nice surprise was waiting for her. You never knew when it came to Natsu.
Perhaps that unpredictable nature was part of why Lucy still felt like their friendship was as fresh as it only could be in the beginning – in its honeymoon phase, one might say. They never tired of each other, not really, despite what it might seem like when Lucy kicked him and Happy out of her apartment for the hundredth time in a week, or when she scolded them twice that amount. When they first got to know each other, the small fights were actually based on real discomfort – who wouldn’t be shocked when a guy you practically just met used your bath with his winged blue cat without even locking the door? Though as the time went on, her crazy reactions felt more like acting, rather than something based on true discomfort. She would put on her loud voice, yell out something witty and then a ‘get out!’ and then watch as Natsu and Happy would giggle while scrambling to her hallway, and she’d watch them do this with a smile on her face. It was their running gag, something that reminded them of where they started and where they are now.
Well, unpredictable friendship or not, Lucy wasn’t sure if this little hiking trip Natsu had brought her along to was worth it. Those blisters already looked unreasonably red and angry, and they sure felt like they were angry too, stinging even at small winds.
“You know I won’t be able to fight properly like this, right?” Lucy told Natsu, kicking her feet in front of him.
“Well, you won’t have to fight.”
“Hah! I got a clue!” Lucy burst out, celebrating her success at wearing him down. “So, no fighting… Does that mean I’m just here for company for a job? Or maybe the job just requires one of my spirits… or! Maybe we’re just here for a retreat!”
Natsu sighed and readjusted his hold of her. He had accidentally told her just a little too much – not enough for her to figure it out, but still enough for her to speculate. He was fine with her talking, but he was a little afraid she’d make him say too much again, maybe even make him spill everything, and then he’d let all his work to keep the secret go to waste.
“Not telling,” he just told her, trying to keep his ground. He made his mind up to only answer her if she talked about unrelated topics – otherwise he would definitely spill everything. Luckily for him they would reach the edge of the town in just 10 minutes as long as he kept a good walking speed.
“Don’t you think you owe me a proper clue? After all, you didn’t tell me that we were going to walk for hours! I would have changed shoes if I’d known, you know!” Lucy poked Natsu’s cheek repeatedly. Maybe she could annoy an answer out of him.
“I already gave ya’ one,” Natsu tried.
“Noooo, I decided that it was a clue, you didn’t give it to me out of free will!”
“So you want another clue?”
“Yes!”
“Well, my clue is that you won’t have to fight.” Lucy pouted.
“You already gave me that clue.”
“So you admit it was a clue?”
“Natsu!”
***
“I can’t believe you won’t tell me anything!” They had finally arrived, and Lucy was walking barefoot on the cobblestone paths that covered the coastal town. She had insisted on walking by herself when they started meeting people on the way, saying something about it being embarrassing to be carried when she was a mage with reputation. Natsu couldn’t understand how being carried would affect her rep, since she was in a team that destroyed everything in its path, but he complied.
“I just think you’re making it bigger than it is,” Natsu shrugged. His surprise wasn’t really that big, and this build up certainly wasn’t giving him any favours.
“I’m not making it bigger than you are. You’re the one that won’t tell me about this small surprise.” Natsu knew that Lucy was stubborn, but this was reaching new heights.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you!” he once again defended himself. “I just don’t want you to think it’s some amazing, cool thing and then be all disappointed.”
“I’d never be disappointed,” Lucy promised. She knew however that Natsu didn’t believe her – he had that peculiar look on his face that showed when he was doubting something. They continued this bickering for a few minutes, until Natsu finally came to a halt.
“We’re here.” Lucy looked around. The street was familiar – if she remembered correctly, this was the street where that wizard, Bora, had been scamming people. Which also, coincidentally, was the street where she and Natsu first met.
“Hey, I remember this,” Lucy said, not concealing the fondness in her voice. “This is where we met for the first time.” Lucy was smiling, and Natsu already felt like he had succeeded. For him, the hours of complaints were all worth it as long as she had this expression. But he knew Lucy would be annoyed if they had gone all this way just for a tiny peek into memory lane.
“Do you remember that there was this big crowd of girls just over there?” Natsu smiled.
“Yes, and I was in it.” A small grimace crossed Lucy’s face, until she started talking again. “I was completely charmed by Bora. Or, well, his ring at least.”
“The great salamander and his charms.”
“But hey, I did get to meet the real salamander! He was just naïve enough to think that Bora was a dragon in the middle of the town.”
“How was I supposed to know?” Natsu defended himself. Lucy raised her eyebrows.
“A dragon? A huge, fire breathing dragon, smack down in a town with crowded buildings and humans everywhere? It didn’t take a genius to figure out that things weren’t adding up.”
“Hey, me not being a genius led to us meeting. I wouldn’t change that, ya’ know.” Another soft expression graced Lucy’s face, and he had to hold back from giving her a big hug. “Anyways, I thought we could stay here for the weekend. I’ve booked a room, and just across the street there’s a place that’s got lots of cheap food!”
“You really thought this through, didn’t you?” Surprise didn’t begin to describe how Lucy currently felt. She didn’t think that Natsu would be so perceptive, though if she actually thought back she should have known. He had always been sentimental, if that wall of memorabilia had anything to show for. Hell, he even got himself a mannequin so he could display the maid outfit Lucy had dressed up in, way back for their first mission. Naturally he’d remember the date and location of their very first meeting.
“Since I prepared all this I’ll let you pay for the food,” Natsu said, snickering at her with a sinister grin. Right. There’s the catch.
Though since there wouldn’t be any crazy amounts of orders on raw fish, calculating the lack of exceeds in the company, maybe the bill wouldn’t be too severe. And with exceeds on the topic, Lucy sort of missed having the blue pal around. She could name a thousand annoying traits Happy possessed, but when it came down to it she wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world. He was her best friend, they bantered and had fights, sure, but the bond she shared with him was irreplaceable. Which is why she felt like there was a void present - they were missing a part of their team.
Lucy hadn’t gotten any explanations on why Happy wasn’t around today, but she knew that Natsu knew. Hadn’t he known, he would have complained the entire outing. Still, Lucy was curious about what kept Happy away today.
“Where did you say Happy was today by the way?” She had first asked him an hour into their impromptu hike, but had only gotten a vague mumble as an answer. This time she was ready to drill him – after all, she was paying for their food.
“Oh he had this… thing? With his parents and the rest of the exceeds. I don’t remember what exactly.” Lucy found his answer a tiny bit suspicious, but didn’t dig deeper. Surely there was a reason behind the vague answer – maybe Natsu had promised to keep a secret. Happy had recently gotten more serious about his feelings towards Carla, so maybe it was related to that.
“Right,” Lucy said, now feeling her stomach rumble. “So are we checking in at the Inn or eating first? I’m starving, but I think I’d like to freshen up a bit before we go eat.”
“Yeah sure, let’s make a stop at the room.” Natsu’s compliance was also a bit suspicious, Lucy thought. Though she didn’t mind it of course – maybe this was a part of the anniversary treatment.
She should have known something was up when Natsu had booked the room. The Inn was nice and clean, the staff was nice and she was delighted to hear that breakfast was included, but the first red flag was when there was only one room key. Lucy’s face had turned a light shade of pink at the thought of sharing a room – not because she wasn’t used to it at home, but because of the implied intimacy between her and Natsu. They were known to be “only friends” back in Magnolia, people barely batted an eye when they did almost-coupley-things (like walking home with arms linked, always sleeping at Lucy’s apartment, Natsu resting his arm on Lucy’s shoulders at the farmer’s market – all things that had been written about, and then been unbunked in Sorcerer’s Weekly), but in Hargeon their unique friendship wasn’t as widely known. So when the receptionist smoothly added that all their rooms were sound proofed, Lucy could only smile politely and nod.
The room itself was as stunning as the rest of the Inn. It was embellished with cute, golden, swirly details in every corner of every object, and the walls had a stunning tapestry with light blue flowers scattered across an eggshell-white base. There was a body length mirror with a dark wooden frame just to the left as you walked into the room, and to one of the walls there was a pretty wooden dresser. Everything looked handmade, and Lucy couldn’t help but awe at every detail.
See, the room was so pretty that Lucy hadn’t noticed that there was only one bed. When she did notice, it was only because she was admiring the bed frame – of which there was only one. Had she turned light pink before, she could guess that she was sporting a rosy red on her cheeks now. Truth was, she and Natsu had never shared a bed alone in another place than her apartment. Happy had always been a barrier between them, even when a similar occasion had occurred with there only being one spare room for the night. This time however, Lucy and Natsu hadn’t arrived with a third party. And this time, the room wasn’t the “only one available”. Natsu had been the one who booked it, and he clearly didn’t care about their reputation.
This entire thought process had taken maybe a second in the real world. See, Lucy didn’t really believe that Natsu didn’t care about “reputation” and silly things like that. She knew that Natsu didn’t see this sleepover as anything different than when Happy was around, and how the Inn-staff interpreted their relationship was simply not in Natsu’s equation. He had just wanted to make this a memorable trip, and sharing a room was just more economical, and really the only reasonable option when it came to the two of them. They were already sharing Lucy’s twin-size bed at home, so why bother booking two separate rooms when Natsu probably would end up in Lucy’s bed no matter what.
So with a deep breath, Lucy turned around and grabbed her bag where she kept her necessities.
“I’ll take a quick shower, is that fine with you? Or do you need the toilet?” Natsu could see a quite violent blush on Lucy’s cheeks as she tried to act unfazed. He covered up an amused smile with a yawn.
“No, you go ahead.” As Lucy closed the door he allowed himself to chuckle. She was really an open book.
***
“Good evening! Table for two under the name Dragneel?” A chipper waitress welcomed Natsu and Lucy into the restaurant. It was one of the perks of being a well known face in Fiore.
“Yes please,” Lucy said, minding her manners more than usual. She had thought that Natsu would leave the food aspect to Lucy, since he had joked around about her paying for him, but to her surprise he had led her here – to a nicer restaurant than they usually ate at. Well, they usually ate what they hunted in the woods, but even when they went through towns on missions they normally ended up in some cheap diner. This place was no five stars, but it was more than she had expected. She almost felt a bit self conscious in her simple dress.
The two of them were led to a table by a window that had the perfect view of the harbour.
“Hey that’s where we met for the second time!” Lucy exclaimed, pointing towards the horizon. “I thought you were such a loser for getting seasick,” she snickered, giving Natsu a provoking poke on his arm. He was nicely dressed up, wearing a navy dress shirt and black tailored pants.
“And I thought you were stupid for falling for Bora’s trick twice,” Natsu joked back with a smirk. Then he surprised Lucy for the third time in one day, fourth if you count his nice clothes. “We’ll take a bottle of the house’s red, assuming you want a meat dish?”
Lucy almost dropped her jaw, only giving a dumbfounded nod as an answer. As the waitress fetched their first order Natsu started to browse the menu.
“Hey what on earth was that? Who taught you wine-etiquette?”
Natsu shrugged his shoulders.
“This lamb looks good, doesn’t it?”
Lucy scoffed, but she was honestly impressed. It showed that Natsu had put a lot of thought into this day, even if he had played it off as a simple trip down memory lane. She opened her own menu and gave it a quick scan. He was right, the lamb did look really good, but at a closer look she could name multiple meals Natsu would prefer – he had mentioned the lamb as a recommendation to her.
“Yeah, I think I’ll take the lamb,” she slowly said. “What are you having?”
“The firecracker beef,” he said, pointing at the five chilli peppers on the side of the dish, symbolising how hot it was.
“Oh, fun!” Lucy praised.
As they waited for their wine they fell into a comfortable silence. Lucy had a million things to say, to commend him for. Well, minus one since she still felt her feet ache from the long walk. However, as soon as the waitress had taken their new orders, Natsu spoke up.
“This is a special town, dontcha think?” Lucy nodded. “I know Erza, Gray and Lisanna told you already, but before I met you I was really grumpy.”
“You don’t say?” Lucy giggled, thinking back on his curt behaviour before they formed a team.
“Hush,” he smiled, “I’m going somewhere with this.” Lucy made a zipping-motion with her hand over her mouth, and let him continue. “Anyways, I was a real bad-tempered kid, didn’t exactly like to hang around people other than Happy, and well, he’s a cat.”
Natsu seemed different today. Other than his odd sentimentality, Lucy thought he looked mature in his proper clothes, with a glass of red wine in front of him. Had she thought two times further she’d get flustered by how much this dinner seemed like a fully fletched date. Luckily Natsu continued speaking before she got there.
“There were all kinds of circumstances that made me behave that way, but in hindsight I kinda boil it down to searching for Igneel and losing Lisanna. Either way, I was having a tough time back then, especially when guild members didn’t take my search for Igneel seriously. Though, it was thanks to them we even met at all, since I followed one of the leads.” Natsu started looking around, losing the thread. “Well, I guess I wanna say I’m sorry for acting like a brat back then, I was really dismissive of you despite how friendly you were. Hell, you even got me and Happy lunch, we were seriously saved, I had to spend that lunch money on an extra train ticket.” He gave up a pained laugh from the memory of being stuck on that train ride. Lucy was amused by the picture he painted – even back then he didn’t manage motion well. It was sort of comfortable to know that some things would never change, no matter the adventures they went through.
“Either way, I would not change a single thing that day, the extra train ride made me meet you! Though meanwhile you were getting charmed by Bora.” He once again laughed at the memory – her eyes had practically been hearts. “And look what I brought, by the way!” From the backpack he had carried (against Lucy’s wishes) he pulled out the white cardboard paper that was signed by Bora, or Salamander as he had conned people to believe back in the day. Lucy yelped.
“I can’t believe you kept that! Eugh, it still gives me the creeps,” she shuddered and showed her arm where goosebumps had appeared. Natsu just laughed loudly – a heartfelt laugh that Lucy had heard countless times before but never got tired of hearing.
“What can I say, it’s a souvenir!” He was still laughing when he put it back into his backpack.
“Gross,” she muttered, but a smile was creeping across her face. She could never stay upset, even on pretend, when he laughed like that.
“Anyways, I just thought I’d tell you my side of the story of how we met. Though, you know the basic facts already. I just remember thinking that you were really weird.” Natsu was leaning his forearms on the table, suddenly feeling very close.
“I knew that much already,” Lucy teased. She was no longer fazed by his “weird”-accusations – they kind of cancelled out when you considered who was speaking.
“Yeah, well that wasn’t all I thought of you.” Lucy’s interest was piqued. Natsu’s eyes were dark in the dim light, and though his mouth was turned to a smile, he looked very serious. “Other than weird, I found you dumb, for paying for my food, loud, for how you spoke while paying for my food, endearing for how you spoke about Fairy Tail.”
Lucy felt her face get warmer. He had told her that she was weird, dumb and loud before – all while joking of course, but she had never heard him call her endearing.
“Then, when we met for the second time during the same day, I thought you were special. Then I got motion sick, so I mostly felt nauseous,” Lucy giggled before he continued, “but when you brought out Aquarius and helped me out, I knew you were special. I had never seen anyone converse with their magic the way you always have – mostly literally, but also figuratively. Happy told me the same night that he saw you find Aquarius key almost telepathically after you dropped it in the ocean. We both knew you were special. Are. You are special.”
Lucy felt like her face was on fire at this point. She had never heard Natsu be so straightforward before. It was strange, in a very good way.
“Oh Natsu, gosh, I don’t know what to say,” she breathed. It was rare to hear these sorts of words from anyone, aside from maybe Loke. “You flatter me.” She laughed, fanning herself to cool her head.
“I don’t do it nearly often enough,” Natsu argued boldly, only making Lucy blush more. “It’s just, I have so much to thank you for. My life has been pretty awesome if I may say so, but the truth is, it’s all thanks to you. I wouldn’t have had the amazing team I have today, I wouldn’t have made it out from any of the countless life threatening situations I’ve been in, if you weren’t there to save me. I owe everything to you.”
“That’s my line,” Lucy smiled, holding back tears of gratitude. “I would have roamed the streets still if we hadn’t met.”
Natsu smiled. “I doubt it. I would have picked you up along the way a hundred times if I could.”
Lucy snorted.
“That’s an awful pickup line!”
“Yeah, that was bad, wasn’t it?” He grimaced. “Though I can’t stop it with the sappy stuff until I finish what I started saying earlier.”
“About what you thought of me when we first met?” Lucy asked. She had sort of mastered the art of following Natsu’s train of thought, so she was spot on.
“Right, I think I mentioned weird, dumb, loud, endearing and special.” He regained his serious look, the one that made Lucy feel like she was the only one in the room, nay, the world, that mattered. “I also remember thinking that you were, and are, pretty.”
If Lucy could burst into flames of embarrassment, she would have. Except, she couldn’t say anything. If she said anything, she would wake up from this wonderful dream, and everything would go back to normal.
“I don’t tell you nearly enough,” Natsu said with a sheepish look. He was blushing for the first time since he got into puberty. It would take a lot for him to repeat these words. It was somehow comforting to hear Lucy’s heartbeat patter like a scared rabbit – like she didn’t hate hearing it from him, rather, the opposite.
It was however even more comforting to be interrupted by plates of food arriving. It was a natural ice breaker after the hot tension Natsu’s sentence brought. Lucy could utter a thanks to the waiter, and when her seal was broken, so was Natsu’s. Except, they didn’t address the elephant in the room. Natsu had called Lucy pretty, and Lucy liked hearing him say it. If any of them even mentioned it they feared a bomb would set off - a bomb they would have to clean up after in public. It was a silent agreement that they wouldn’t mention it before they were alone. Meanwhile, they had food to eat and a bottle of wine to finish.
***
The walk back to the Inn was quiet. Lucy walked slowly, partly to not strain her feet, but also because she needed the air to cool her head. Natsu naturally adapted his step to hers. Once they had walked in their own paces, unapologetically, but since quite some time back it had gone without saying that they were meant to be by each other’s side.
Natsu glanced over to Lucy. She had her eyes turned towards the skies, as she usually did when the sun had gone down. It was like she was acting on instinct, searching for the small, twinkling stars that were her good friends. Today however the lights in the town dulled the night sky, to both of their disappointment. Lucy’s skin had a special glow at night. It was like she was meant to be looked at by the moon, because Natsu could swear he saw a light sparkle, almost too faint to be there at all. Even the man in the moon showed Lucy his best side, Natsu realised, and felt his heartstrings tug. What a woman he had met.
If he looked into her eyes at night he could see the stars reflect in them. It looked like the night sky was swimming in dark chocolate, doing their best to stay afloat in her deep gaze. And not to mention how her light blush from the cold made her look ethereal, how her lips turned into a light purple when they no longer had the warm light of the sun shining on her, and how her golden hair almost turned white, following the colours of the sun and the moon on the night sky.
Calling her pretty was an understatement, yet it seemed like she didn’t really believe him when he had told her. At that realisation, Natsu got an overwhelming urge to tell her again. He wanted to tell her how gorgeous she was, inside and out, and he wanted to hold her tight and never let go. Carefully, he grazed his finger on her hand. Light enough to seem like an accident, put listening closely to the signs she gave. If she pulled away, so would he. Except, she didn’t. So he grazed it again, this time longer, making his intentions clear. Still, no movement from her, aside from the slight bobbing of their walk. On his third attempt he carefully braided their fingers together, relishing in the cool temperature of her soft, small hand in his.
He glanced over at her again, trying to read her emotions. She seemed happy, like he had just told her she would never have to pay rent again in her entire life. He caught himself with the same stupid smile, and decided to only look on the road ahead from now on. Whether he decided literally or metaphorically, he didn’t yet know.
***
Lucy was sweating. She cursed herself for it, because when Natsu had taken her hand, he had seemed so nonchalant, just acting like it was the most natural thing for the two of them in the world. And the fact that he hadn’t let go of her hand when they entered the Inn made Lucy beyond flustered. She had held his hand before, in fact, she had held it many times before. None that had felt so meaningful though. The light touches before he actually grabbed her hand, the way he had held it like it was the most fragile, yet important hand in the universe – the intention had felt romantic. And that’s when the day caught up to her.
Natsu’s nostalgia-trip had been like a weekend retreat for couples. It had felt like a long date, with marriage in mind. Though of course she didn’t think he’d propose – even he knew there were steps to take beforehand in their relationship, but today had indeed felt like a long list of steps to take before a proposal. Not that it felt staged in any way, but it was clear that he was advancing their relationship, whether he knew it or not.
Eventually Natsu had to release Lucy’s hand. He wasn’t successful in finding the key with one hand, so reinforcements were necessary.
As soon as the door closed behind them, Lucy said her first words in 30 minutes.
“I’ll just take a shower.”
And 10 minutes later, Natsu copied her.
When Natsu came out of the bathroom, they were both still in their bath towels. Lucy had managed to dry her hair halfway, but didn’t get farther before Natsu suddenly was standing in the archway between the bedroom and the hallway, his towel hanging dangerously low on his hips. She quickly turned off the hairdryer.
“So which sides did we settle on?” She kept the topic safe, or, at least as safe as it could be when she soon was to share bed at an inn, with no one present but her and her crush.
“Whatever you prefer,” Natsu answered. He would cling to her no matter which side they were lying on.
With all safe conversation topics exhausted, Lucy swiftly changed into her pyjamas. Natsu was lucky that she always carried her essentials – toothbrush, hairbrush, moisturiser, a couple of panties and a tank top, because otherwise she would either have to sleep in her outside clothes, or naked – both terrible options in Lucy’s opinion.
Natsu had known what the weekend had in store, but he hadn’t felt compelled to pack a pair of pyjamas anyways. A pair of boxers were enough in his opinion. As soon as he turned off the lights, he joined Lucy in bed. Once again he found himself looking at her in the dark. This time the light was so faint he could barely make out her contours, but he saw her there anyway. Her bangs had fallen to the side of her head, and he saw her entire forehead. It felt holy, in a way, because when he saw her wholly he felt like he could see everything about her. Her thoughts, her opinions, her memories. He knew that he couldn’t tell her this, because Lucy would think he was making fun of her big forehead. Little did she know that all his teasing, all his little jokes, were based in admiration. He had to keep talking to her to convince himself he was speaking with a human, and not an angel.
That’s when she opened her eyes and met Natsu’s gaze. At first Lucy’s heart skipped a beat – she hadn’t been prepared to be so intensely stared at. But then she allowed herself to be. She thought, just because she could see him watch her, it didn’t mean he saw her any differently to when she was unaware he was looking. And even if he understood her differently, did that telepathic thing where they spoke through glimpses and glances, he still saw the same woman he had always seen.
“What are you thinking about?” Lucy dared to ask, in a voice that barely counted as a whisper. He had been looking so intensely, like there was no tomorrow, yet he had an indescribable look on his face. Like he was troubled and content all at the same time. Stuck in admiration and puzzling.
“That you’re pretty,” Natsu said. And it was true. The way Lucy looked in the darkness, when Natsu barely could make out her shape, was captivating. He could easily lighten up the place with his fire, make every pore in her face visible as day, but barely seeing her was seeing her in a new light. He couldn’t get enough of her. It was like he was seeing her for her – not in the lights and shadows of a campfire in the woods, not under the light of her booklamp that she used every night. She wasn’t reflecting any light at all - yet somehow she was. If it was the faint light from one or two stars that peeked out behind the curtains, or if it was the faint glow of her own magic power, Natsu didn’t know. All he knew was that he couldn’t get enough of her. He had to feel her, taste her.
So he did.
He started with feeling. Grabbed her hand, this time with more determination. He grabbed it with both hands under the blanket, tracing her joints and feeling her smooth fingernails. It felt surreal to be touching this work of art he was watching. Then he traced up her arm, along her shoulder and neck, and soon enough he was tracing her face. Feeling the soft, thin skin across her eyelids, brushing up her eyelashes. Feeling her breath under her nose, the warmness of her lips. With every light brush his fingertips made, the more of her he smelled. He didn’t know if it was some sort of instinct, that he could smell her better the closer they were emotionally, all he knew was that he almost went dizzy from the sweetness, the realness she smelled. “Bunny” crossed his mind before he started combing through her hair.
“So pretty.” He had said it out loud before he registered the thought in his brain, but somehow it didn’t feel as smothering as it had in the restaurant. And that’s when he bent forward and kissed her. Softly, lightly on her lips. Her lips had fluttered slightly at his touch, but he noticed that she had closed her eyes on instinct. So he did it again, slightly firmer this time, pulling her body close along with the kissing motion. It felt like the ultimate sign of intimacy – like an embrace out of pure love, except amplified.
When they pulled apart for air, Natsu only had one thought on his mind.
“We can take the train back tomorrow if you want. No more hiking in heels.” And in the middle of a giggle, Lucy pulled them together again.

would love to hear ur headcanons for the canon couples (Nalu, Gruvia, Jerza, Gajevy) as first time parents
Fun fact: I actually wrote a fic about them adopting children (well Jerza, Nalu, and Elfever) if anyone is interested in that :)
Nalu
Lucy is literally stressed out the whole time
Natsu is pretty chill but his protectiveness has tripled
Lucy is the strict parent and Natsu is the fun one, but he will back Lucy up when needed
Unfortunately because of his heightened senses, Natsu really struggles with the baby crying. It's way louder for him and even hurts when he's holding the baby (too close to the ears)
Natsu struggles to sleep too. One because of the baby waking him up, but also because he is super protective and wakes up multiple times a night just to check on the baby (Lucy also doesn't sleep through the night but Natsu more so)
Lucy cheats and summons her spirits to help look after the baby. It really helps the new parents get time to rest (and also her spirits love the little baby so its a win win)
While they take turns working, Lucy usually stays home more. She knows Natsu needs to get out all his energy and she has no problem being a stay at home mom (at least for a little bit)
Gruvia
Juvia is literally always crying. Everything the baby does causes Juvia to burst into tears
Gray is in love. He's literally always cooing over the baby
They fight over who has to be the strict parents because both of them wanna be the fun one. Usually Juvia ends up as the strict one
Gray worries so much about the baby that he spends most nights sleeping in the nursery. Juvia keeps a spare blanket and pillow in there now, just so he can be more comfortable
The entire house is covered in toys (and other baby things). It has completely taken over their lives
Neither of them wanna work because they want to spend as much time with their baby as possible (unfortunately they have to so they take turns and only take simple jobs)
Juvia knits cute little onesies for the baby. She makes little dolls too. The dolls match the onesies. Its adorable
Jerza
Erza is super prepared and can literally handle any baby issue (throw up, diaper, teething, etc). She's got everything
Jellal on the other hand is always panicking. The baby hiccups? He's freaking out about if he has to go to the ER
Erza bought so many clothes for the baby. She treats them like a little doll and is always playing dress up
They are both the strict parents. Not terribly but they raise their child to behave (tho both are known to give in to the puppy dog eyes)
Jellal cries a lot. He cried when he found out Erza was pregnant, cried when the baby was born, cried when they brought the baby home, etc (he never thought he'd have a life like this)
For the first couple months after the baby is born, Jellal tries to do as much as possible because he wants Erza to rest (she did do all the hard work for nine months so it's only fair that he steps up after birth)
Somehow their home is always clean and they both always look well rested (well Jellal has permanent eye bags but that's just his normal sleep depravation). No one knows how they are so put together with a newborn
Gajevy
Gajeel is that dad that is always talking about his baby. He's always showing pictures, will turn any conversation into a baby story, and in general cannot go five minutes without talking about his baby
Levy did so much research before the baby was born. She bought literally anything and everything the books recommended
Unfortunately that means when something happens that wasn't in the book, Levy panics
Gajeel also has issues with his heightened senses. Levy takes pity on him when it comes to diaper changes (Gajeel has thrown up from particularly foul ones)
Gajeel tried to do that thing where you make the baby listen to music in the moms stomach, but it was his singing. Levy would come up with every excuse in the book for this not to happen
He does sing to the baby now, but Levy finds it adorable and likes to listen (his voice is more suited for lullaby's)
Levy reads to the baby every night. Her book picks vary from actual kids books to textbooks but the baby doesn't know the difference anyway

We need to talk about how great a character Lucy is because even in the 100-year quest, we still see her as the group's strategist and devise plans whenever team Natsu is heading into battle. Not only that, but she was one of the few characters we saw grow in strength from the beginning of the series (where she struggled to fight with her celestial spirits) to now being able to use weapons and open more than two keys.
It was so nice to see Lucy devise a plan to help save her guild members under the White Mages' control. I also forgot to mention that she is at a point where she can not only summon two spirits out of their gates (like usual) but combine their powers to create new star dresses, which is impressive.

Hi! I was wondering if you can do a request of the Gods (Poseidon, Thor, Loki, Apollo, Odin, Hades, Heracles and Buddha) with a Reader from Fairy Tail. Where the Reader takes them to meet the guild (Like meeting the family for the first time). How would they react to the guild, taking a quick liking to them. Where they throw their famous parties to welcoming them into the family. Even challenging them to a fight.
Don't have to do this if you don't want to!
-You smiled up at (Love), holding his hand as he gave you a small glance, a small grin appearing on his own lips, seeing you looking so happy.
-You were happy because (Love) had finally agreed to come and meet your family, the members of your guild, Fairy Tail! You had been asking him for a while now, as you had been dating for over a year now, despite not being able to see each other often, mainly because he was an actual god!!
-He would always make time for you, his most precious person, after you had found him last year, after he had an accident that made him fall from Valhalla, and you hauled his ass to your place and nursed him back to health.
-During his healing process he couldn’t help falling for you, you were so warm and kind, but also witty and smart, and you were so loyal, telling him all about your friends, your family; he knew that you were a good person.
-Those in the guild, at least the majority of them, had been teasing you, when you told them that you finally had a boyfriend, but when you didn’t have any photos and (Love) couldn’t visit often, many took to teasing that he was just in your head, something you didn’t take kindly to.
-There were a few, like Erza, who believed you, telling you that she wanted to meet (Love) when he could visit the guild, as she wanted to make sure that you were being taken care of- something you did thank her for, she was always such a sweet person.
-So when (Love) asked to meet those you’re always talking about, you cheered, immediately leaping into his arms, hugging him tightly, which made him chuckle softly, seeing you so elated.
-Now standing before the door to Fairy Tail, he inhaled slightly, hearing the loud shouting on the other side, but you didn’t seem bothered, this was normal as you opened the door, seeing most of the guild engaged in a giant brawl.
-However, when they door opened, revealing you and an unknown man and instantly everything froze, everyone staring with wide blinking eyes, stunned.
-You beamed brightly, “Everyone- this is (Love)!” Erza was the first one over, not surprisingly, and shook (Love’s) hand, being very welcoming as she greeted him, welcoming him to the guild hall!
-(Love) could easily pick out certain members, based on your descriptions of them, like Natsu, Gray, Erza, Gajeel, Makarov, Laxus, Elfman, Juvia, Mirajane, Lucy, and Wendy, greeting them when they came to meet him.
-Makarov was very welcoming, but did have that talk, as all members are his children, and he’s very protective of his children, which was amusing to (Love), seeing this old man threatening him to keep you safe, but he quickly seemed to realize, sensing his power, that this old man was way stronger than he looked and wasn’t to be underestimated.
-Natsu got fired up, hearing that (Love) was a warrior, wanting to fight, which caused others to shout the same as Erza came in, holding a strawberry cake, “Here (Love)- I got this so we could all celebrate together!”
-Natsu and Gray, who began to roughhouse, knocked into Erza, making her drop the cake, sending it to the floor and instantly everything froze.
-You grabbed (Love’s) hand, pulling him back behind the serving counter with Wendy and Lucy, as Erza went into rage mode, grabbing the two by their heads and throwing them, starting another brawl.
-(Love) couldn’t help but give you a small grin, leaning his cheek on his fist, “They’re all exactly how you described them.” You just grinned warmly over at him, leaning into him, “Thank you for coming with my today (Love), I’m so glad everyone got to meet you!”
-He pecked your forehead, making you beam brightly before he did express his curiosity on fighting some of your guild mates, curious on how strong they actually were.
-Many were stunned to learn that (Love) was an actual god, coming down from Valhalla to spend time with you on his rare days off, but that just got everyone fired up even more to fight him, to really test his strength.
-He wasn’t bothered that he was in an unfair fight, many of the members facing off against him, after he said he could handle all of them at once, which did cause some arguments. When they all charged, many were stunned by his strength and his skills- he was definitely a seasoned warrior as he easily beat most of them with ease. He even made it look easy fighting against the strongest members of Fairy Tail!! When he was announced as the victor, you couldn’t help but cheer, rushing into his arms. He smiled down at you, pressing a kiss to your temple, and despite just getting their asses kicked, your family all couldn’t help but smile, seeing how happy you looked. They all approved of your relationship with him, he was a good person.
            -Hercules, Loki, Buddha, and Apollo
-He quickly proved that he was a strong warrior, between his strength and his skills, by easily taking on the strongest members of Fairy Tail, all of them against him, while you were sitting by Makarov. You knew that he was showing off, taking all of them on at once, but you couldn’t help but smile and cheer for him, something some of your guildmates yelled at you for, calling you a traitor, playfully, which you thought was funny. They quickly knew that what you weren’t lying when you told them all that he was an actual god, but that of course opened up a new problem, as many of them claimed they were going to start training and wanted to fight against him again! You couldn’t help but smile, seeing him getting along with your family, as he playfully teased them that it would take them years to get strong enough to be able to face him, which caused another argument. You’re so happy that your family likes him and vice versa.
-Poseidon, Odin, Hades, and Thor
