there's a hole in my heart and it can only be filled by knives out and the tuesday club murders and miss marple and hercule poirot and silly old fashioned detective stories with little to no romance especially concerning the main characters

Oh, don’t mind me… just thinking about how Ace is the only character with whom both parents are confirmed to have the will of D- something we know to be major though we still don't know why for exact, & Ace used his own will to care. To try to look out for those disenfranchised like he was growing up. To treat its ethos as an unimpeachable code when he finally found a place that finally wanted to protect him. To put every effort into being a good brother.

He set out trying to define himself, for himself, and yet became increasingly littered by nods to the people he loves- his public surname, the tattoos, the necklace, etc.

He wanted to live to the fullest, with no regrets. To give meaning to the man he was without the imposition of legacy. And, at the end of the day, that looked like making the choice, the active & fought for choice, to be loving. Then he died giving thanks for the ways in which that love was returned.

If that’s not beautiful, then I’m not quite sure what is.

#but like I also really like for all that he is the dreaded bastard son of the pirate king #with intense power & quite a large amount strength- he is still first & foremost just some guy with a heart he fought to crack open.#like that is his main character trait. and it is my favourite fucking thing.#(you can tell I fucking adore his Wano appearances can’t you? oh well.)#this is also why the claim that sabo & ace are the same character has confused the fuck out of me from the jump. they have similar cores &#sure but the way those are depicted contains a lot of fucking variance.#(oh oh oh oh oh oh wait final thing- this is not my theorizing abt what the will of d in case that was not clear.#like i bring it up more to say that so far we know that those who have it are deeply headstrong individuals #with great potential & generally checkered lives. & ace like double has it.#& he put the headstrong-ed-ness & great potential towards love. Playing one of the old Jake and the Never Land Pirates games on Flashpoint made me realize that the game, Journey Beyond the Never Seas, makes a better finale to the show than the actual final episode.

#jake and the never land pirates #jake and the neverland pirates #The game is on flashpoint because the game was one of many Disney Jr games that went down when flash died #But it was one of the games that was released when the show was airing #you just had to be there #But the basic premise to the game is that the crew journey beyond the Never Seas in search of 5 treasures #after finding an uncharted area on the back of Cubby’s map #A lot of playable areas such as Hook shooting fucking slime balls at Jake #Purple giant squids you had to avoid #I never got enough emeralds to finish that fucking game but I digress #The whole game’s premise made me realize that Jake and his crew going on adventures outside Neverland would’ve made an awesome series final #Or alternatively they go on a grand journey to find many treasures but they realize the true treasure is their home #friends #and family #Add that with Hook’s redemption arc (that we were robbed of getting)#And Jake’s crew getting the appropriate limelight they deserve instead of the whole “captain jake” bs #And wrapping up loose ends instead of that stupid cliffhanger with Lord Fathom #It could’ve been a great way to end Season 3 and the series #One can dream

i love how so much of the stuff in delicious in dungeon that's not central to the main plot is left up to the reader/viewer's interpretations. it leaves a lot of space for fans to imagine what else happens outside of the plot, especially with how good the world building is. a sentiment ive seen more than a few times is that any character in dungeon meshi can be shipped with almost any other character, and because of how it ends you can even imagine characters who didn't interact much or at all eventually becoming friends and/or lovers, and there's so many ways for fans to imagine what else happens in this world after the story ends. there's little bits of interaction between characters that could easily be interpreted one way or another, but there's no malicious baiting or anything that's intentionally implied without being explicit.

That said, it is a little sad that there's no canon romance between Falin and Marcille, as far as I can tell, cause this type of thing happens so often in stories, where two characters of the same gender have romantic vibes but the writer didn't have the slightest intention of it being romantic. Also a little sad that, as far as I can tell, she didn't intend for Laios to be autistic either...

(to be clear, im NOT mad at ryoko kui here! this is JUST me being sad about the lack of good, intentional representation for queer and autistic people in media and how that conflicts with my appreciation for Kui's writing)

#dunmeshi #like i love how she wrote it and i do think its usually wiser for a writer to not get so in the weeds about character details #like a certain infamous wizard book author does.......#but what i mean is it's just a little sad that once again marginalized ppl have to just settle for headcanons #instead of explicitely queer or intentionally neurodivergent characters #id even be so happy if kui said she likes the interpretation of laios as autistic or or marcille and falin as romantic #i like it when writers say they like a common unintentional interpretation of their work without making a hard decision to make it canon #and i like that people have so many different interpretations of the characters #i just really wanna see more gay and nd ppl represented well in media #once again im gonna complain about how i can only think of 3 main character m/m relationships in animation #1 of those shows was cancelled #1 is no longer watchable unless you pirate it or have a dvd #and the other was a spinoff that also might not be available to watch.... fuck hbo #as for wlw theres a few more but only if you count the ones that weren't explicitly shown or only shown in the finale like korra and asami #fuck im waisting all my time and adderall on rambling about dunmeshi when im supposed to be doing work!#i finished my assignment but i have commissions to do and some reading to do #bye
