Ok so I've been torn between a spotted box turtle or a Florida softshell they both are pretty in their own ways and have different routes you can go with the characters. I'm having a bit of trouble making the Florida softshell shell look actually decent

Jason gets shot once with a gun with enough punch that it completely pierces his armor on the side, and there is a moment of panic because oh that was definitely his kidney right there, but Jason just keeps going like nothing happened and takes the guy down and then turns around like what are you guys staring at.

And he still doesn't look like he even noticed it.

"Jesus Christ Jason lay down!"

"What? Why?"

"What do you mean what, why? You just got shot!"

"What? Ah, damnit, I hate fixing up these, bullet holes in armor suck"

"Be less worried about bullet holes in your armor and more about bullet holes in you!"

"Relax, it didn't even hit me."

"What?"

And Jason proceeds to strip off his body armor and show that a lot of it is just, you know, armor and padding. His actual bodyline is a lot further in than where his armor makes it look like it is. And he is very confused over why everybody is confused about this because this is the whole fucking point of armor? You know, to shield his actual body? So he doesn't take the brunt of the hits? Oh, what is he even talking about, of course you would be confused, you spandex-wearing weirdoes.

Later they ask him what else is a lie, because apparently Jason is not actually a hulking mass of muscle, and Jason proceeds to take his boots off, and immediately shifts from being 6'2+ to just 6 feet tall.

"Why are you wearing platform combat boots?!"

"I stepped on glass and other shit too many times while wearing those pixie boots! Not anymore! Nothing can get through these soles! Oh and also I like the height."

I made a few new wax seal stamps out of clay (like the ones I did for my worldbuilding stuff forever ago), this time just of random symbols that I thought might look good done in the style of painting over the raised part of the wax or etc. :0c Some of them aren't carved deep enough to really show up that well, but overall they worked okay for being clay lol

At the start of this project all I wanted was to 'learn how to draw' using comics as a medium and the MDZS audio drama as inspiration.

I've come *very* far from making simple, 3 panel black and white comics, and I truly do intend to go even further. Thank you to everyone who cheered me on throughout 2023, it has been an incredible year in so many ways I never could have imagined. I look forwards to drawing throughout 2024 B*)

Drew Vamp-Chan and Skulls from @theskeletongames' fic The Skeleton Games. It was fun, I love how much shorter Sans is than Vamp-Chan. (Actually, I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be a bit shorter, but I forgot to check the height chart before I drew it. Oh well.)

Bruce and all of his kids, are full of scar tissue and mended bones

Every single one of them can count on two hands or less how many bones they haven’t broken, and they can count on even less how many joints they have dislocated, and don’t even get me started on sprains

Point is, the Batfam haven’t exactly taken a lot of care with their very fragile human bodies over the years of vigilantism

You know what makes old scars burn and old breaks ache, and what makes every sprained stretched muscle tight

The cold

So Bruce, and all of his kids legal and not, fucking hate winter, they hate the cold, because it makes everything tighter, every warm up take a little longer, everything hurt just a little more

Of course you wouldn’t know it, with Dick striking poses that would make professional contortionists cry, or Cass landing perfect flip kicks, or Steph and duke giving each other massages, or Damian doing yoga, or Jason hitting pads with Bruce, or even Tim running through a cardio workout that puts the JL to shame

They would never show that pain, that weakness, to anyone else, because some villains would target those potential pain points if they ever saw even a hint of them, but more than that, because they have to be strong, for their teams, for each other, for the entire world

So you may never know that Dick spent an hour stretching out his left shoulder this morning, the first dislocation he ever go on patrol

Or that Cass is practicing flip kicks because he knees are killing her but she needs to know that they won’t be a hindrance

Or that Steph and Duke are giving each other pre workout massages because they’re covered in knots that make moving hard

Or that Damian is doing yoga because it helps with the imagined cold and real pain from having metal in your spine

Or that Jason’s broken fists sting with each hit

Or that Bruce is wearing a back brace today because his broken spine was killing him this morning

Or that Tim is doing cardio because the cold makes breathing a little harder so he has to be prepared

You’ll never know how much pain they’re in, not in the field when they broke their ribs and are coughing up blood, certainly not when they’re training the pain of the cold away

Because that’s what they do, they keep training, until it doesn’t hurt, or until they know for a fact that it doesn’t matter if it does

The Bats hate the cold, but they’ll be damned if they ever let it stop them

A delivery person comes to Tim's house one day with an age restricted object (like alcohol or something). On this day, Damian also happens to be visiting.

(Tim opens the door)

Delivery Person: Oh, hey kiddo, is one of your parents in?

Tim: Haha, no (he reaches for the package) do I need to sign for it?

Delivery Person: Oh- woah! (they hold the package away from him) Sorry, no can do, this needs to be collected by an adult. Are your parents in, or should I come back tomorrow?

(A cold gust of wind blows as Tim tries not to be mad about the all-too-common situation)

Tim, sighing: Right. I get it. Hold on.

(Tim goes to the kitchen to get his ID from his bag, but in his irritation, seems to be having trouble finding it in there)

Delivery person (out of sight): Oh! Hey, sorry for the trouble. And you're that kid's... parent?

Damian: Tim? No, I'm his brother.

Tim: 🤨???????

Delivery Person: Oh, cool, that's fine too, could you sign for this?

Damian: Sure?

Delivery Person: Awesome, thank you. Hope you and your little brother have a nice day!

(The delivery person leaves)

Tim (stepping back into the entryway, only to see Damian holding his package, looking extremely confused): ... did you just accept my package?

Damian: Uh? Yes?

Tim: And he didn't ID you..

Damian: I'm not sure what just happened - I was just coming to see why you were taking so long at the door.

Tim, (snatching it out of his hands, his pride wounded): You don't even live here, don't sign for my packages.

Damian (who is just here to innocently hang out with his big brother): ???? 😶??

Tim, grumbling under his breath as he takes the package into the lounge: And who's he calling your younger brother? I'm 24. I'm literally 24. You're barely 20! I don't look that young, screw that guy. I can't believe this. The nerve..
