A snapshot of one morning, on a relaxed day with mild weather. Now imagine this when it's crowded or when it's raining or snowing.
Video description: POV from the lap of a wheelchair user. Very shaky. OP is going downhill on a fall day. Lots of trees and fallen leaves around. There are construction trucks to the left in the very beginning. Every now and then, you can see a German Shepherd on the left. Second obstacle shows a food robot crossing the sidewalk to drive in front of OP, but it stops suddenly and OP crashes into it. OP continues down the hill until she reaches another food robot, which is obstacle 3. This robot sits in the middle of the sidewalk while OP navigates around it. Then OP comes to a concrete ramp with iron railings, which is obstacle 3.5. It is very steep. After the ramp, OP goes to cross the street, where a black SUV blows through the crosswalk. Obstacle 4 is a ramp with red brick. OP struggles to move up and pauses at one point before continuing again to obstacle 5, where there is a big concrete building and manual doors. The German Shepherd service dog goes up to push the accessibility button multiple times to no avail. A student comes and opens the door, OP enters through two sets of doors into a hallway. Clip change to obstacle 6, OP is wheeling down a hallway and approaches a white elevator with out of order signs.
End of description.

I FINALLY GOT A CUSHION THAT FITS MY WHEELCHAIR!!
I am so excited. My wheelchair is an odd sizing, and I had to buy it second hand without a cushion. Getting a cushion that even remotely met my needs was going to be expensive, and I'd resigned myself to using an undersized cushion and a blanket underneath to protect my legs.
My best friend siprised me with a properly fitted cushion for the holidays! It wasn't something i had asked for, but she knew i needed it and got it on top of the other things she got me.
Im so fucking excited to be able to use my chair more comfortably.
Photo of myself and my service dog with my chair after we had adjusted most of it attached

Is there anyone with a service dog I can talk to??
I know what a dog can do to help me, I know a good breeder, I know where and how to get the dog trained and I know my rights.
I know I could and would care for the dog with all my being, even on flare days I know I could manage to give them enrichment time if I’m unable to give them a walk and have people around me who would be happy to help out if needed.
What I need to wrap my head around is, am I bad enough for a service dog?

My mother and I are getting a dog (yay!) for free (even more yay because we cannot afford to buy a couple thousand dollar labradoodle rn) and so because of this I'm looking into how to train her to help me with my wheelchair and basically act as a service animal while training her myself to the best of my (and my mother's) abilities.
Anyways, does anyone have good Youtube channels on how to train dogs to wait at curbs, push open doors, etc? We're looking right now but figured it might be a good idea to ask for help.
Also the dog's name is Nala! She's a 3 year old labradoodle and we get her on Thursday. Will upload pictures and updates of how our cats react lol.

A most frustrating mistake has been made.
Mum had carpal tunnel surgery this morning - don't worry, the surgery went well. And so, for the next couple weeks, mum can't drive at all, which also means she can't care for my autistic brother with high support needs (and I'm not capable of taking care of his physical needs either). We found out about the surgery in mid-January so, quite sensibly, we booked for him to be in respite from 9th to 24th February. And arranged via his respite place relevant transport (aka taxis to and from his adult disabled daycares). Only, when we went to drop him off at his respite place yesterday evening, they weren't expecting us!
Somehow, in a most strange turn of events, a mistake had been made and he had been booked in for 9th to 24th... of APRIL!
APRIL?!?
Now, upon realising this mistake, his respite place invited us in to their office for tea, over which we discussed the issue. I emphasised that it was a medical emergency as I explained the situation to the support workers there and then to their managers over the phone (so I explained it thrice). We couldn't work out which of their staff had made the mistake but they took my brother for the night and promised to contact us the next day about what they could arrange. As we drove home, I rang his taxi company that usually transports him to one of his adult disabled daycares on Mondays and Thursdays and cancelled his transport for the following day.
And so it was that I was woken up (I'm insomniac) at half eight this morning by a phonecall from their manager. He told me they had managed to book my brother in from 9th to 12th and then from 13th to 21st of February. This means he will home on Wednesday 12th night and then for the whole weekend beginning on the 21st when we urgently need him to be in respite because we can't properly care for him. But I understand it's not the fault of any of the staff I spoke to and so I remained polite and thanked them for doing their best to sort this out.
However, this caused another problem to present itself - transport. Obviously, his respite place would arrange the transport for the days he is with them. But mum can't drive until after 24th/on the 25th. And our current Motability car is not adapted for me (the pedals are all on my bad side) so I can't drive very far or often in it, meaning I can't transport him either. (The next Motability car will be adapted for me! But we don't get that until April.)
As such, another phonecall had to be made. We rang social services and were also transferred over to the transport department, explaining the situation and necessary transport to each (so I explained it twice more).
So, it has been a drama. And the best of the situation has to be made. Although, we will really struggle to care for him on the days he is home during these two weeks, especially 12th and 13th February. Added to that, since we weren't expecting him to be home, we don't have enough for food for him to be here. (We live in the middle of nowhere with nothing and nobody.)
And so it is that despite our doing our best to be sensible and organised, it all went wrong anyway.

My Service Dog!
Hello, Friends! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Nova! I'm also known as Kegan. I'm multiply disabled, and, as a result, I'm getting a service dog! Here's where you come in. I need to raise funds to get him, as it is quite expensive to get one! He will do quite a lot of tasks to assist me, including:
Emotional and sensory support during seizures
Alerting and interrupting negative behaviors
Providing counter balance to assist with my balance and mobility
Support during breakdowns
Crowd Control - Walking around me in a circle to keep people away
And a lot more! It will be extremely helpful if you can reblog this, and donate if you have the means!

So... big suprise!
The municipality is funding me a lightweight wheelchair!
I did not expect that at all, but it's progressing pretty fast and I am about to be called for a fitting and selection process to find the right wheelchair for me.
I'm kinda hoping I get a completely custom-made and fitted one, but will also be incredibly grateful with a more standard (and cheaper) wheelchair. Honestly the fact that I won't have to buy one myself saves me like 400 - 500 bucks. So win!
No news on the adjusted living space yet.
But the news for the PTSD service dog is carefully hopeful?? It's no longer no, but maybe.
So, progress!

okay i love that you made a haurchefant lives au where he survives the unsurvivable unhealable attack. genuinely i love to see it, i love him and miss him and think the "if he lived it would ruin the timeline" thing is stupid as hell. (like, narratively i had made peace with his death, that part is as okay as it can be to me, but then they come up with this cop out "no fun allowed, he Has to die" bullshit come ON thats stupid AND defeats the true tragedy of his death shut UP.)
anyways, thats beside the point, my real question is why is he never disabled though (an obvious question with an obvious answer, but so many people do not even bother asking lmao). like. in these aus i see him either miraculously fully healed or with a bitchin scar. and that scar is oftentimes huge and RIGHT over his spine??? hello. why is he never disabled. why does that seem like a fate as bad as or worse than death to so many of you.
#anyways wheelchair user haurchefant means everything to me#him struggling with Becoming Disabled (cause its a different experience when its through an injury yknow)#but coming out the other end of that struggle in such a decidedly Haurchefant way#him being a core element in establishing a PT service in ishgard#him giving feedback to the skysteel manufactory about the wheelchair(s. plural) they build him to improve the design#him getting even more jacked arma because goddamn ishgard may have a lot of ramps but they are WAY too steep-#-no wonder so many disabled people live on the lowest levels in the brume they have no choice!#him championing construction efforts for lifts and gentler slopes#also you cannot tell me he would not invent wheelchair jousting#the man may have to sit the rest of his life but he certainly isnt sitting still#also crucially he is just as down bad as ever before we do not santize or infantilize disabled people in my house!!!#ky speaks#also if you make him ambulatory my friend bee said edmont would Definitely gift him a matching cane and i *sobs* OTL#thats if though. i like both non-ambulatory and ambulatory wheelchair user haurch

If you put a fake service dog vest on a non-trained, unneeded, non service animal to be able to ‘take them places’, FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
YOU ARE MAKING PLACES INACCESSIBLE FOR DISABLED PEOPLE THAT NEED SERVICE ANIMALS JUST BECAUSE YOUR BITCHASS FEELS ENTITLED TO BRING YOUR DOG EVERYWHERE!
not to mention, this can interfere with actual trained service animals!! If your fake “service” dog is barking at an actual trained dog, it can distract the dog! For people who need service dogs as alert animals, or mobility, it can fuck up the dogs ability to perform the task(s) it needs to!
#my brother went into a store with his service dog without his wheelchair and someone went is that a “Real” service dog?#Like yes!!!#and he needs her to be able to function mobile tasks independently#like open doors#pick up things#ect#but when hes not in his wheelchair people doubt that shes an actual service dog!!! they just see a kid with a dog!!#So if you are bringing your untrained dog places YOU ARE MAKING SPACES INACCESSIBLE FOR DISABLED PEOPLE#Especially for ambulatory wheelchair users#service dogs#disibility
