I just realized that in the psychic au, Dark Shadow is a spirit that is tethered to Tokoyami ('haunts' is such a strong word).

on their first day of high school, Shinsou couldn't stop staring at him (because… hello???) and after class Tokoyami walked up to him, looked him dead in the eye, and said 'you can see him too, can't you?'

what makes this somehow funnier is I don't think Tokoyami is a psychic. he can see Dark Shadow, because Dark Shadow is tethered to him, but he can't see other spirits. Dark Shadow claims it's his job to protect him from other supernatural threats (Shinsou: what kind of threats? Dark Shadow: threatening threats), but this also means that Tokoyami has just accepted that for his entire life he's been haunted, sorry, protected by some kind of benevolent bird demon no one else can see and who he's never seen anyone or anything like.

(I now desperately need Tokoyami & Shirakumo to meet so Shirakumo can be like 'WHAT THE HELL IS THAT' and Hizashi just says 'a high schooler… don't be rude :/' while Dark Shadow smiles at him as much as a shadow being with a beak can smile and Tokoyami sits there with a perfectly neutral expression)

it's not about the comfort or aesthetics, it's about the ecological sustainability. industrial food production erodes the substrate on which it is grown, and continually reduces biodiversity, especially in times of population growth. there is a point at which humans must find other ways to feed, or we will die.

there are more options than just "industrial agriculture with bread shipped thousands of miles overnight" vs "grow potatoes and slave away in a field until you die of malnutrition." i promise that many of the anticiv freakazoids are NOT advocating for subsistence farming, lmao (let alone any kind of regularly cropped farming.)

the guy eating bananas and chocolate and strawberries is really going to talk to us about "the miserable conditions of food production that is substinence farming." like, for real. u think that the current conditions are less miserable. for everyone. u truly believe this.

This would have been a great time to begin transitioning your economy to something other than gold! I mean, I am well aware that people don't think like that, I am literally living in a place that is suffering greatly from the downfall of agriculture, mining, and things like that*, but I mean, there has to be something else that you can do, and if you don't do it, you're going to end up right back where you started.

*I actually live in one of the small pocket places that tariffs may help, to some extent, at least in a theoretical income based sense. We're getting beat up by Brazilian beef and Chinese palladium. To a lesser extent, Canadian wheat, but Montana wheat is so well known for quality that it's pretty much fine. Anyway, it made sense to me that tariffs appealed here, implementation issues aside. King Arthur Flour is my go-to 1:1 flour replacement, and they have a new line of GF bread and pizza flour that's made with (gluten free) wheat starch; the kicker for me is that while their GF all-purpose and premade cake/bread mixes all have GFCO certification, these two new products do not.

According to their site, they go through the same allergen screening process as their other GF products, but I feel like if they're claiming it meets the FDA standard for >20ppm, having a third party confirm that gives your customers better peace of mind.

I really wanted to try their bread flour mix, but I just dont know how much trust I can put into a mix that contains wheat (even scrubbed wheat) that hasnt been tested externally.
