one of the pettiest things i do is reporting people's fully original non-fannish work on ao3 if they annoy me even slightly.

usually i can't be arsed, as there are worse offences and the line is fuzzy anyway. but someone spam marketing their work, and openly stating that they're looking for an agent? yeah no. hope you get deleted.

I think it’s very telling that there’s only like two web sites I know of that still actually have humans moderating them and checking mass reports. One is furaffinity and the other one was mentioned in a group VC that I forgot the name of. There’s so little human site moderation these days that as long as you have bots and bot hosting technology, by all intents and purposes you are the site moderation. Highkey disappointed my web development group isn’t going with my project idea (Pathfinder tool) for our semester project. To be fair I’m the only one that plays ttrpgs but all the online tools sorta super suck so I thought it’d be nice to make one that’s actually. Y’know. Good.

Random 4 AM thought about a movie I watched 2 months ago but... I enjoyed that Unfriended 2 actually had zero supernatural elements to it. It's really fun when a series subverts expectations in that way to remind you that humans can be monstrous too. (Not that I think it necessarily leads you to believe it will be a supernatural movie, but since the first one was, the possibility is definitely there)

Like there's a scene in the movie where the hacker SWATs one of the people, and then rigs the computer to play a file that sounds like a gun being loaded and cocked, resulting in that person getting gunned down by the SWAT team. Very scary and realistic! It's happened in reality that people get "pranked" in this way and end up dying, and honestly if someone wanted to do it to you, it's not that hard!

So, I just find the finale of the movie where it's revealed that "the" hacker is actually a laaaarge group of people, including the police, to kind of undercut one of the most powerful forces of the movie. That malevolent actors can turn your information against you with the press of a button. But actually instead it was thousands of people just toying with you for fun and it was all set up! Lol!

And SOMEHOW? Thanks to that long talk he had with Phantom (*incoherent fanboy gibbering noises* SO COOL!) he's worked to be... more of a LEADER, you know? Less of an asshole. Cause he's popular. People copy him. He can't be an asshole.

So, somehow, when he's punching out some try-hard that thinks he's hot shit for bullying a Nerd? He and the nerd get talking, right? Cause the guy got his glasses completely fucked up. And it's what Phantom would do.

But GET THIS? Guy's never HEARD of Phantom! Is super curious, cause he runs a small time Hero's show on the web. And, Dude? Is it your LUCKY DAY! Cause you just met THE number 1 fan of Phantom, hands down!! He makes his VERY spirited case, about why Phantom is THE best Hero to ever have lived. And this guy?
