At this point, after years of living in the wild and many more before that training them to be ever vigilant, Pete and CJ are unfazed by pretty much anything that tries to attack them (more so wild animals)

I saw someone headcanoned that CJ didn't like/was uncomfortable around Barns because he looks like a British soldier, and since my Barns is quite literally a Royal Navy soldier, I support that idea wholeheartedly X3

It's so difficult to make friends in college when everyone seems to be so serious and mature and then there's me totally obsessed with octonauts and penguins (my special interests), someone talk me today and the first thing i do was talk about octonauts, i need friends who are on the same level of ilness just like me😭

unironically, I feel like if you need a blueprint for how to form a good group dynamic for a long form show, look no further than Octonauts.

like genuinely, they do so much right. The characters are consistent but not flat, every character has some kind of individual dynamic with one another, some are more pronounced than others but they’re all there, no character is fully dependent on another to be fully fleshed out, they’re all competent adults who are just genuinely friends who help each other out when needed and work incredibly well together within their given niches in the team. I dream to one day create a main group of characters with as much effortless synergy with each other as the octonauts

I really want to see you draw shellington with the Vegimals aka his kids and everyone's first reactions to the Vegimals!

Note: Peso isn’t here because this all takes place before he joined

When the Vegimals first hatched, Shellington was astonished by these fascinating creatures.

And then reality set in

How was he going to tell the rest of the crew?

On top of this now he had to take care of these little guys. Give them names, feed them, ect.

Welcome to parenthood Shellington

He was nervous about the crew getting scared, or worse wanting the Vegimals to be released back into the ocean, so he kept his care for them a secret. (Although he wasn’t particularly subtle)

Soon Captain Barnacles noticed how sluggish and overworked Shellington had become and decided to check on him, only to be met with a small little creature thrusted into his arms by Shellington.

The lab was in total chaos and Shellington wasn’t looking too well.

Even with a very brief explanation from Shellington, the Captain could see how exhausted he was. And the Vegimals didn’t seem dangerous, just a bit of a handful.

So he made the decision to brief in the other Octonauts.

They were all shocked by the Vegimals, and had so many questions.

But Captain Barnacles made it very clear the main priority was to help Shellington. Luckily, Inkling found a few baby books in his big library.

They all joined Shellington in the lab bringing fish biscuit formula, blankets, Tweak had made little beds, Inkling brought a few books for Shellington, and they all stayed with him to help out with the Vegimals.

Shellington was very touched by his crew’s compassion, so much so he fell asleep.

The captain didn’t mind though, and they all kept watch over their new crew members while Shellington got some well overdue rest.

And by the time Peso joined, they Vegimals were very much a part of the crew, and he was briefed in about them and to not be startled by them.
