People watching The Game Awards thinking they'll get Half-Life 3, Silksong, or Bloodborn on PC when the only reveals are more hyperrealistic AAA slop, quirky lol random "erm did that just happen?" games, and a new The Last of Us Ultimate Remaster (which is different than the last remaster)

So I went to an early screening for the first two episodes of the Percy Jackson show yesterday (Saturday), and let me just say, it is 100% the adaptation we deserve. It was amazing. Once it ended, I wanted more.

The characterizations were amazing, any changes there were made sense and made the situation more realistic and added tension, the story was straight from the book, it was just amazing.

I went with my mom and she, who doesn't know the books, really enjoyed it. I asked her how she liked it (literary just the first two episodes) compared to Harry Potter (which i had her watch a few years back), and she said there was no contest. She likes the pjo show much more. She said it was engaging and even had her wanting the next episode once it was done.

Everyone needs to watch this show. It was amazing. It lives up to the hype. We need to make sure it gets greenlit for season 2.

I often wonder how English distinguishing between “sentient pronouns” (he/she/they) and “inanimate pronouns” (it/its) affects our perception of the world.

I wonder if languages without this distinction foster more care towards the environment.

Animals and plants are usually referred to as “it”. Would we care for them more if we thought of them as sentient?

Amazing, take some of the side character demons from Evil Bound.

Vincie is a menace to Chuck and Chuck alone so in Hell, Chuck hexes his hand behind his back so that he isn't grabbed as much (and it's harder to pet him). Chuck is like the most irresponsible older sibling ever to demons though so Kelvin recruits him (as an older sibling vibe) to go help him get his ACTUAL older sibling from Earth. Chuck agrees. And then drags Vincie from Hell with them because no one else wants to babysit him and he refuses to unbind the hex just to re-hex when he returns to Hell.

In Hell, Kelvin actually doesn't appear much different than his human form! Like Kronos, the lines under his eyes are red in Hell but black on earth. Chuck however? In Hell he has wolf-ish ears and has a fur lining his neck (note the neck scars in human form). In addition to that he has four eyes in Hell (note the scars under his eyes in human form). Vincie just has horns in Hell. And! In Hell the hex doesn't have a silly looking "tied up" look, it's invisible unless Vincie strains it with movement and then its red text. But it shifts on earth to be visible.

Vincie's biggest agony for the entirety on earth is "dude it's colder here than in Hell I want a jacket to slip my arms into BUT I CANT BECAUSE IM BOUND".

I've seen things after SOTUS extreme actor harassment, I've been here through BMF "hate watching flashmob" and you know what, this year I will actually stop tolerating BL fans (at least on tumblr) who don't even have the decency to just ignore things they don't like and who think bullying someone is a good fandom sport, and start calling out. No matter if you believe clickbaits or you're a proud member of celebrity witchhunt or just don't believe people and situations can change, whatever, I really don't want to see KristSingto hate if - when - they will come back with another BL series.

Peraya fans have been waiting and hoping for KristSingto reunion for years, they wanted it themselves for so long as well, and we've unfortunately encountered way too many people who don't use their braincells and who encourage others to follow their footsteps when making derogatory comments about (mainly) Krist or Singto who they don't even know about, or their shows. For years. Some even go to talk shit and laugh right at his face. What the hell.

Maybe don't ruin someone else's parade and don't turn a nice community lake into a swamp. If you consider yourself a good person who can have an opinion "I just don't vibe with this person/show", watch it unbiased, be open minded and if you don't have a full picture, ask fans of the actual story or do research and read proper compilations about him instead of blindly stacking your opinions on repeated echoed insults from yt and tiktok. And if you aren't willing to be open minded and rational, well, let the fans celebrate and stick quietly to your swamp.

It's really no fun to gather around to discuss something and slip on poop piles thrown around for no reason. What happened to civil discussions?

Let's talk about Ed's suicidality

This is gonna be long, but I wanted to see it all laid out. I think it's worthwhile to note his patterns. This is partially inspired by this post by @natjennie

Edward Teach is incredibly talented at reading the sky and predicting the weather. Remember in season 1 when he knew there would be fog rolling in around dusk because the clouds were sausage shaped that morning? And he is so certain in his skill that he can use it as a moment to play up the crew’s admiration of him. So, I think he knew way ahead of time that there would be a huge storm that he wanted to sail the ship into in s2e2.

I think there are a few different moments he may have put this together.

One possibility is when he went up on deck with Izzy and then shot him.

He would have had a great view of the sky here. The plan may have already started forming in his mind. Why else would he so flippantly discard his first mate? It’s documented that people who intend to kill themselves sometimes start getting rid of their possessions.

It really stands out to me in s1e4 when Ed first mentions that maybe he should try dying. He includes Izzy in this possibility.

Ed has another great view of the sky here, after telling Frenchie to clean up the mess from shooting Izzy. This is before his "rough night" when he plays with his dolls, has a good cry, and then continues discarding things that matter to him.

The next morning, Ed seems, by all accounts, to be doing much better! He’s tidying his room, he’s smiling, he’s chipper.

A sudden mood change, where the person seems happier and “better,” is also documented as a precursor to suicide. Ed has definitely decided he is going to try to die later that day. I think he had probably made his mind up the night before.

His expectations for the day change slightly when he learns Izzy is still alive. He hasn’t deviated from his intention to die but he’s willing to bring Izzy into it again.

He was going to try dying no matter what today, might as well let Izzy do it if Izzy wants to. He’s under no assumption that Izzy will live beyond this so why should he? And then they can try dying together.

He couldn’t be more set in his plan.

Then, once he believes Izzy is dead, he continues on with what he had imagined for his day.

The finality in this is astounding. He talks in past tense immediately because he was already prepared for that.

He tells Frenchie to take the day off to “go live” while he takes over steering for a while.

He then has his last dramatic stab at life as his final act. And I think there is a part of him that's hoping he doesn't actually die. He could have used a much quicker and definite method to attempt suicide but he doesn't and I think that's worth noting.

But, if it does work, then bully for him. It's much more aligned with how he had been imagining his death anyway. Remember when he thought he was going to go down with the ship in s1e4 before they devised the lighthouse fuckery?

By all accounts, the storm is cooler.

I do think Izzy reappearing brings a sliver of hope back to Ed, though.

After Izzy shoots the torch out of Ed's hand, Ed gets up to walk toward Izzy rather than going to pick the torch back up. And he looks astounded. We don't get to see this reunion play out further because Fang knocks Ed to the ground.

It’s important to remember that suicidality is incredibly complex. There’s no one reason or person that Ed has decided to kill himself and there’s no one reason or person that can save him. In s2e3 Ed was the one to take the ropes off and fight to keep swimming; even if Stede was a reason he thought of, once the ropes were off, for him to keep going, Stede is not saving him. Ed is saving himself.

Ed has a hard journey ahead of him, interpersonal relationships aside. He has a lot to work through with himself. But he's proven that he is willing to try.

And he does. And I'm excited to see him continue to choose it.

(I mean, don’t get me wrong, brilliant amazing spectacular showstopping never the same stunning delightful, 3000/10 highly recommend, and the closures on a few plot points certainly work where they ended up, and man oh MAN what an exceptional final episode, but there is absolutely one ENTIRE season of story left to wrap this up exquisitely!!)
