A Quiet Home
Jaune:*walks in* Hey, I’m back.
Weiss:*writing*….
Jaune:I umm, got some food. Saph said she always makes too much so-
Weiss:You should’ve turned it down. Your nephew is a growing boy.
Jaune:She wouldn’t have offered if she couldn’t help. How’s rent looking?
Weiss:Despite my colossal fuck up on the mission, it’s covered.
Jaune:Hey, what’s important is-
Weiss:Jaune, don’t patronize me. I screwed up, got my leg hurt, got the client hurt, and lost the target. *puts pen down* Thankfully I found another high paying one. It’s a three weeks long and I’m-
Jaune:Actually…I put in a request to take that mission too. Client said he’ll think it over.
Weiss:*turns around* Excuse me? You’re taking my job line ups? You went in the last two missions. It’s my turn to-
Jaune:You need a break.
Weiss:Tsk, not this shit again. I just had a break!
Jaune:Crunching bill numbers is not a break. Weiss, your head isn’t in the game, and that’s fine. After all, your mom…
Weiss: “My mom” nothing we aren’t talking about this. There’s nothing to talk about. She lived drunk and died drunk. Predictable ending.
Jaune:Weiss-
Weiss:Give me space! And cancel your request while you’re at it. You’re in no condition to go on another assignment so quickly.
Jaune:…I’m not letting you go on that mission.
Weiss:Sorry, you’re not letting me? *stands up* I don’t remember needing your approval.
Jaune:That’s not what I-
Weiss:No it was, or else you wouldn’t have applied for the same mission despite our agreement. I made one mistake and now it goes out the window?
Jaune:You’re angry.
Weiss:Of FUCKING course I’m angry! I’m trying to keep these lights on and not burden others while you’re bringing in leftovers and stopping my job!
Jaune:You’re not doing your job! You’re running away from your problems!
Weiss:Oh you’re one to talk! The only reason why you’re here is because moving back in with your folks would be too much to handle.
Jaune:I moved in with you because you needed a roommate! My girlfriend was cutoff and alone and I could help! All I’ve been doing is trying to help!
Weiss:I didn’t ask for your help! I was handling things just fine!
Jaune:You were struggling.
Weiss:AND I’M NOT NOW!? Does it make you feel a little better to say you tried. Can’t help but I want to fix things huh?
Jaune:That’s not fair.
Weiss:Oh now we want to be fair? After intentionally making my job harder? For someone who is “trying to help” it never really works out for you now does it!? Not for me not for P-
She immediately covered her mouth, scared and shocked from the venom that almost slipped past her lips; this carelessness was given back with a stare of contempt that ate at her.
Weiss:I-
Jaune:There was a never a second I thought you were broken, or needed to be fixed. Guess that was my fault. Looks like your father did a number on you after all.
Her blood went cold. Weiss’s cheeks began to burn red as her anger boiled over.
Weiss:And yours never cared to do a swing to begin with.
Jaune:Speaking from experience?
Weiss:Get. Out.
Jaune:….
Weiss:I SAID GET OUT! I DON’T NEED THIS FROM YOU! I DON’T NEED YOU!
Jaune:…Good, cause you don’t have me. Sell my stuff for all I care.
He reaches in his pocket and throws his key at her. Weiss catches on reflex before hearing a thunderous boom as Jaune slams the door on the way out that shakes the room and cause a picture to shatter. The room is deathly silent as Weiss stares at the door.
Weiss:F-FINE! RUN BACK TO YOUR FAMILY!
………..
Not knowing what to do, Weiss simply grabbed her broom to clean up the mess Jaune made. Glass was half hazardly swept aside as she picked up a broken frame holding a photo of her laughing with Jaune, their face covered with cake from their house party with a banner overhead.
“A year of memories and miracles”
Weiss’s hand began to tremble until the picture slipped from her fingers. A giant pit filled her stomach and threatened to gag her as her knees fell to floor and her hands covered a ghastly wail. Finally, her breath was robbed and tears broke through shaking eyes filled with dread over the reality that was flooding in. The miracles were gone, and the memories, now bittersweet.

Red Like Roses... (It's period 🔴)
Warning: fluffness inside. Also really long.

At Beacon during a more peaceful time.
Pyrrha: Hmmm it's quiet, too quiet.
Ren: I agree. It's never a good sign. We should be ready for something.
Jaune: Ready for what?
Nora: Oh you know usually things never stay quiet for long especially when we're right next door to the main characters.
*yang burst into the room*
Pyrrha: And speaking of the devil.
Yang: Quick hide! *brace the door behind her*
Jaune: Oh Shi- okay gangs we trained for this! Quick initiate Pattern Delta Phi.
Nora: Aye, aye dear leader, let's initiate plan hiding under our bed's like cowards.
JNPR: *Bracing for Impacts.*
*Yang holding the door with all her might*
Ren: Wait what are even hiding from in the first place?
Yang: No time to explain. Here it Comes!
A large sounds resembling explosion came from across the hallway. The door starts to violently shakes and rose petals soon violently burst into the room. Even with Yang putting all her strength into the door. Some rose petals still managed to get inside.
Yang: .... I think we're in the clear now.
Pyrrha: What just happened?
Yang: Eh, promise not to freak out?
Jaune: Okay, I guess...
Yang: Good enough. *shows team JNPR the source of the roses*
Ruby: Huee~ *sniffs* huee~ 😭
Jaune: Ruby?
Ren: It seems to be her.
Pyrrha: Wait. Where are Blake and Weiss?
Nora: Found them. They're buried under all of this Rose petals.
Blake: *coughing up a bunch of petals* Eww I got some of it in my mouth.
Weiss: .... I just saw my grandfather.
Jaune: Okay, can someone now please tell us what is going on....
*Cardin burst into the room*
Cardin: Why the Fuck are there Roses all over the damn hallways!?
Russel: Don't try to lie we know it's coming from team RWBY!
Yang: Wow, wow! False accusation, much?
Dove: Well we can't help it. Because whenever something bad happened It's usually always you four.
Sky: Fucking Main characters shit...
Nora: I know right!
Pyrrha: Nora! Which sides are you on?
Nora: Oops my bad... (I mean, I'm not wrong 😒.)
Ren: *shrugs his head* Nora...
Jaune: Can all of you please stop being aggro for just one second!
You're upsetting Ruby for brother's sake.
Ruby: Wah! Wah! Wah! 😭
Jaune: Also can someone please tell me what just happened?
WBY: *looking at each others*
Yang: *sigh* (I guess I'm the one that should tell everyone.)
How do I gently put this? Ruby is in her special time of the month...
Jaune: Oh...
Cardin: The fuck does that even mean?
Russel: the month?
Dove: I see... (Maybe if I silently nod people will not think I'm dumb.)
Sky: (okay, she had her period. What does that have to with anything?)
Blake: Typical.
Weiss: Can you guys be anymore of a dudebros cliche?
CRDL: Hey!!!!
Yang: Let me put it this way. Every time Ruby has her "special month" her semblance's goes all haywire for some reason.
Jaune: Okay I get the gist of it. Team CRDL go outside and clean the hallway.
Cardin: What! Why the fuck should we clean up their mess?!
Jaune: Because I fucking said so. Now go!
Cardin: Geez... Whatever. C'mon boys, we better clean up team RWBY's mistakes. Again!
*slams door*
Blake: Thanks Jaune.
Weiss: Geez Arc, when did you grow a spine?
Yang: I gotta say Vomit Boy. I never knew you had it in you.
Pyrrha: *blush* (So manly.)
Nora: That's our Jaun-Jaun.
Jaune: Blake, Weiss. Please help Cardin & his team with the clean up outside.
Weiss: What! No way. Why should we help those dunderheads in the first place.
Jaune: Because they're right that the mess was started by your team.
Weiss: I'm sorry, our? For the record it's just Rub...
Blake: We're on it Jaune. C'mon Weiss let's help clean up all this roses. *drags Weiss away*
Jaune: Pyrrha, Ren, Nora. I also want you to go out side and help them.
Pyrrha: I understand Jaune. I will do as you ask.
Nora: Oh c'mon Jaune, why us too?
Jaune: Because they're our friends, Nora.
Nora: Well I'm about to go back to my room... *gets yoinked*
Ren: It's okay Jaune. I will get her to help us.
Nora: *grumble* (Fucking Main characters....)
Jaune: Thanks Ren. And Yang I want you to stay and find Ruby's "hygiene" products.
Yang: Wow, wow! Settle down cowpoke. I don't think you being a man is qualified to be the one to help with Ruby's "issue."
Jaune: I have seven Sisters...
Yang: Sweet brothers in heaven!
Uh, I take that back you're clearly overqualified.
At least I don't have to help clean up. But what're you going to do Jaune?
Jaune: I'm going to go back to my room to make a tea for Ruby.
A few minutes later.
Jaune: Here you go Ruby. A sweet herbal tea with plenty of honey and sugar.
Ruby: ... *sniffs* Thank you Jaune. 😢
*sips*
Jaune: It's okay Ruby you don't have to thank me.
Ruby: But I caused so much problems for everyone. *sniffle*😞
Jaune: *headpat*
There, there Ruby it's okay that what's friends are for. And you didn't troubled me one bit. In fact I'm happy to be of use to you. It reminds me that I'm still useful to someone.
Ruby: Jaune please don't think like that. You always were important to everyone.
Jaune: *kiss forehead*
It's nice of you think that Ruby. But I'm not. I'm not special like you. You're destined for great thing while I'm.... Just me.
Ruby: 0-0
Jaune: What's the matter... Ohhh, ohhh no. I'm so-so sorry Ruby I didn't realize that... I usually did that to my little sister whenever she's sad.
Ruby: *blush*
I-I don't mind it at all Jaune. It's just that if you want to do it to me again a little heads up would be nice. 😖
Jaune: I'm so-so sorry Ruby I promise that I... Wait, what do you mean by again?
Ruby: Uhh....
Yang: *clears throat*
I seems to have interrupted something here.
Jaune: Y-Yang!
Ruby: Sis!
Yang: Look Rubes I don't need to say this but remember what dad said. No boys. And Jaune please don't take this the wrong way but please for your sake please don't get any idea with Ruby. It will not end well for you.
Jaune: O-of course. I will never-ever think of Ruby like that. We're just friends after all.
Ruby: Friends... 😭
*starts crying*
Jaune: Oh, what's the matter Ruby?

Mini ramble cause I’m tired I’ll expand later probably
Blake and Weiss have trouble with their emotions because of their different kinds of abuse they’ve experienced but they still clearly have them, you know? They talk about them and they talk about it a lot their was a whole arc that was just them talking about their emotions very loudly at each other so having the emotions or expressing it doesn’t really bother them that much
or at least not in every environment, Yang and Ruby are the safest space they got they’ll fight each other to the death around them if they’d let them if you want to have unsavory emotions and unsavory words they’re the two people they’re both comfortable doing it around
It seems like they’re biggest issue with having negative emotions is how other people perceive them and how others react and putting up a front around others unless really comfortable
(What an incredible life changing experience it must’ve been to have that kinda safe space with people who care about you for no reason other then because they do and not for any ulterior motive after so long of not feeling like that to love someone so much you could safely hate them and they’d still ask you include you in ever conversation, it’s like that one measurement of love and comfort where if your kid complains and whines about things you make them do to you then they love you and think your safe to be around and if they’re silent and obedient and distant they think your not)
However with Yang and Ruby it’s not a front they’re not pretending to not feel the emotions they’re actually just not feeling them
They’re refusing to outright
Ruby doesn’t vent till she’s in a universe where GRIM DONT EXIST and then the emotions overwhelm her so much she DIES
Yang does let herself have negative emotions but ONLY anger which is controlled and specifically when she can take that kinda heat she expresses anger not only with the acknowledgment of the risk to herself but also often when other people are also already upset
Yangs semblance is clearly designed to make it easier for her to take hits for others this expression of anger goes along with the fact that it lights her on fire and makes her big and bright she’s making herself a bigger target
Cough cough not subtle metaphor cough cough YOU KNOW LIKE WHAT YOU DO AGAINST BEARS?!?! GOLDILOCKS!?!?!? Cough cough not subtle metaphor cough cough
(And Yang and Ruby will sometimes have breakdowns because of this where everything totally boils over and they have no way of dealing with it and they end up sobbing but even then they usually manage to do it in a closed off room)
Their lives have been centered completely around becoming huntresses and surviving through and killing grim it’s been their whole lives if the grim are attracted to negative emotions it doesn’t matter if you don’t show it on your face it’s GETTING you
To be a hunter you have to choose either:
1- go fucking crazy (all of the teachers at beacon for whatever reason)
2- be good enough at your job to be mentally ill (qrow)
3- DIE
So they just couldn’t feel shit cause they didn’t hav the skill level as children to allow that and survive
And obviously they do feel these things but it’s SOO repressed (Ruby I believe less so but it’s still beneath the surface so she’s good)
Blake and Weiss had a ton of shit to worry about but Blake was always more focused on other people as enemies and only had to personally worry about that after she joined the white fang and learned how to fight and I GENUINELY believe that the forest with Ruby was the first time Weiss’s isolated SKY CITY looking ass ever saw a real grim in person and not her sisters fake ones
And I think this is just really interesting because of how long it might’ve taken Yang and Ruby to realize the difference between their partners and them and why I think it might’ve led to interesting interactions but they’d probably never outright talk about it with them because it might lead to emotions
#rwby#yang xiao long#blake belladonna#bumbleby#rwby bumbleby#ruby rose#weiss schnee#strq kids#strq sisters#strq family#huntsman culture deep dive here I come

All the stuff about Tifa is right, Miles was an ass with that comment. Post Volume 3 all the main girls except Ruby are 18 so they're not children.
But the rest of this... holy shit...
"Also not to stun your pee brain, but writing racism as "If we want respect and equality then we have to forgive our bigot overlords and defend them with not even a thank you." Is stupid, that be like me telling you that if you want minorities forgiveness, go fight cops, or me going to england and saying that. Blake tells unrelated faunus to fight armed dudes and the writers are stupid. And the overall issue is HBomberguy was right! In his review he stated that he was afraid that a certain group of people would look at how the faunus act and go "yeah that's how They are" uncharitable takes exist."
RWBY quite literally does not have this message. It openly states that it does not have a method for achieving equality.
Blake: Humans didn't do this. We did this: Faunus. We did this to ourselves. We are just as capable of hate and violence as the humans, but I don't think any of us would jump at the chance to point that out. So why are we letting Adam do it for us?! By doing nothing and staying silent, we let others speak and act in our place. And if we're not proud of the choices they make, then we have no one to blame but ourselves. This is the message that Adam Taurus will bring to the world if no one stops him. But we can stop him! You have to understand that all of you are looking for simple answers to a very complicated problem. And I can't give that to you. I don't know how to make hate go away, I don't. But I know that this kind of violence is not the solution. I understand that to ask you to leave your homes and protect Haven Academy is asking you to put your lives at risk. But that's what's at stake. So I'm going, and I'll stand by myself if I have to.
It is NOT at all framed as a solution to racism. It may help sway some Mistrali citizens, but it's not gonna end racism in Mistral. The bigger message here is that the Faunus are letting Adam Taurus speak for them, and since he is a walking Faunus caricature, people who previously did not hate the Faunus are growing to hate them. That has to be stopped, and Blake has the chance to do so. So she does, and she successfully reclaims the White Fang along with her father. It's open ended on how her father manages the new White Fang, so we'll have to wait and see how that turns out.
"Oh how about bumblbee? With Yang literally saying she viewed Blake as an object and wanted her around for her solely? You know fuck what Blake wants! Blaming Blake for running in fear when WF ruin a nation and Adam states he'll kill everyone she loves and he knows exactly where her parents are? Perish the thought, that sounds like something a scared child would exactly do! But Yang goes "No despite us not officially dating yet I'm owed her time and presence.""
Good fucking lord.
Yang has genuine abandonment issues. When she needed help the most, the one person she has confided in about her abandonment issues did just that - abandoned her. Yang doesn't understand why Blake did such a thing, and she's distraught, angry, and most of all, sad, about Blake abandoning her.
Once Weiss explains why she thinks Blake left, Yang comes around and realizes Blake did so because she wanted to protect her, and the first time Blake shows up, Yang is totally fine with her.
It's hard to tell what you mean by any of this but I think you're shaming her for being mad at Blake for abandoning her in which case... seriously? Yang has abandonment issues and confided in Blake that her mother abandoned her. She sacrificed her literal fucking arm for Blake. And Blake ran. I'd be pretty pissed as well.
Have you no empathy?
Yang, not even once, said she viewed Blake as an object or that she wanted her around for her solely. Literally where are you getting that from. She says, direct quote:
Yang: No one blamed her for anything! If she had just talked to us, she would've known that! How could I be there for her if she doesn't let me? What if I needed her here for me?
Nowhere does she say she needs Blake for her solely. That's a strawman, which is a logical fallacy.
I can't even begin to guess where you got the idea that Yang said she thinks Blake is an object so I don't know how to counter it other than telling you that you're dead fucking wrong lol.
"Yang's shitty, and it takes how long for them to get together? They don't even wait until adam cold before Yang claims her, after abusing her mentally when Blake tells her Adam likes to make you feel small and she brushes her off and is like "stop talking to me." Then they kiss what? THIS year? 2023? In volume 3 sun's winking at her and she's blushing and smiling and calling him a dork and they're hanging out, and I'm sitting here going "Do some of that for yang? All they did was share a dance, have her flirt with her or wink, something." And what she compliments her hair once? Granted I stopped after 7/8 so I bet the best LGBT rep happ- This just in, I'm getting word from my friends in the LGBT community who watched rwby saying that it's dogshit.
Yang isn't shitty at all. Already explained.
Yang doesn't brush her off after Blake tells her about Adam, she brushes her off after Blake says she'll protect Yang. Yang doesn't like being protected, it makes her feel lesser. This is also amplified by the Apathy living underneath Brunswick Farms.
IDK if you even watched the show cause they do that for Yang and Blake as well. Yang and Blake go out dancing in V7, constantly work together, compliment each other (and blush at said compliments), hell, there's even a scene of Yang slyly looking at Blake's ass lmfao. There's a fuckton of stuff with them.
Your friend is wrong.
"Having tons of LBGT characters doesn't matter if you write them like trash I guess, btw the first kiss happened in volume 9 in 2023 and rwby started in 015 and again sun flirts, winks etc and they show alot of chemistry with each other."
It's a slow burn. There's chemistry with Sun and Blake, that relationship doesn't work out, and after v6 there's chemistry between Yang and Blake.
"Yang gets mad, demands blake be there when EVERYONE else is going back home too! Trauma dumps on her after using a laser pointer on her when Blake admits that she's tired of dealing with racism."
This is another strawman and one dead lie. Yang did not demand that Blake be there. Believe it or not, traumatized people usually need help, and when she needed help the most, Blake left.
Yang: No one blamed her for anything! If she had just talked to us, she would've known that! How could I be there for her if she doesn't let me? What if I needed her here for me?
This is not a demand.
Blake's problem was not racism, it was that she was worried about Roman Torchwick and the White Fang.
"Like instead of talking to her, Yang treats her like an animal an laughs it off then trauma dumps about her mom on her while blake is already highly stressed. Doesn't even solve the problem btw. All the LGBT characters thus far (besides Jaune's sister and her girlfriend, they can stay, sadly they're trapped in a shitty show) are horribly written for no reason."
Literally one of the big parts of the problem was that Blake wasn't talking to them and was pushing them all away to try and stop Torchwick and the White Fang. She has to force Blake to listen in order to help her. The trauma dumping was done in order to help her. The problem was that she was overworking herself to the point of self destructive behavior, and after their talk, the problem IS solved.
I gotta ask if you even watched this show.
Laser pointer bit is done to get Blake to actually confront Yang so she can help her. Blake needed help, was refusing help, so Yang has to go out of her way to help her.
They are not horribly written.
"Or the second Rep LGBT character Illia! A woman who took her crush and was gonna- *Looks at paper* Send her to her abuser while also blaming her for dating someone and not knowing her romantic feelings."
Ilia is pretty clearly no longer interested in Blake.
Miles stuff is good. I don't care for defending the writers of the show, only the writing itself.
So I didn't hyjack this poor person's post over [here.]
I thought making my own post would be the most logical conclusion. So it takes alot in my opinion to bury your head in the ground and pretend like you smart when you're so overly stupid.
Here's a discussion I had with a person where alot of alarming and stupid things were said on his part. @/crimsonxe
Well go through small sections, that's a lie, you know I'm long winded.
Here's a section where he states that writing about killing, maiming, and calling minorities bad isn't nearly as bad. I mentioned Miles calling Tifa a prostitute as well and I don't think he's getting it.
Manner of dress:
The problem isn't getting over it or not, the issue with calling remake Tifa a prosisitue is that she dresses more modest than the rwby cast, he has children with short skirts, no pants under and boob windows in frozen tundra. If he thinks THIS is provocative,
then him okaying THESE
designs on children is something he's mentally aware of! also weiss spends most of her time in that outfit in a frozen wasteland and then COMPLAINS about being cold!
Get over it? More like Have enough common sense not to post stuff like that. A wise man once said "just because you think of a tweet doesn't mean you have to hit send." (Also he says it's not fanservicey, need I remind everyone they sell a ruby body pillow, Yang always had her tits out and then as time goes on they start losing more and more clothing. Not fanservice my ass!)
Grown man argument for sexualizing teen girls.
"They don't go overboard." Here's a picture of a woman wearing chainmail on her bare skin in the desert, there's a difference between puritanical and horny silly designs after them saying shit like "we won't do the stupid stuff anime does" and then having the whole cast of female characters with their tits and ass out.
Also not to stun your pee brain, but writing racism as "If we want respect and equality then we have to forgive our bigot overlords and defend them with not even a thank you." Is stupid, that be like me telling you that if you want minorities forgiveness, go fight cops, or me going to england and saying that. In his review he stated that he was afraid that a certain group of people would look at how the faunus act and go "yeah that's how They are" uncharitable takes exist.
And he was right a bunch of RWBY stans who were racist before vanishing literally came around going "boy did miles and kerry get you guys pegged, you're all exactly like this!" During the 98% most peaceful protesting age, well unless your a cop who wants to shoot out someone's eyes.
The LGBT pair (s)?
Yeah like the cardboard cutout guys miles pouted about when he didn't get credit for putting out there after people in the LGBT community asked when were the LGBT characters gonna appear.
The first Gay rep in the show was two unrelated characters we'd never see again after saying "characters" just don't promise things then lie forehead!
Or the second Rep LGBT character Illia! A woman who took her crush and was gonna- *Looks at paper* Send her to her abuser while also blaming her for dating someone and not knowing her romantic feelings.
"I guess you were too busy looking at Adam to notice me."
Yeah great first cardboard then a woman willing to kill off her her crushes family and blames her crush for not knowing she had a crush on her!
Oh how about bumblbee? With Yang literally saying she viewed Blake as an object and wanted her around for her solely? You know fuck what Blake wants! Blaming Blake for running in fear when WF ruin a nation and Adam states he'll kill everyone she loves and he knows exactly where her parents are? Perish the thought, that sounds like something a scared child would exactly do! But Yang goes "No despite us not officially dating yet I'm owed her time and presence.
Yang's shitty, and it takes how long for them to get together? All the LGBT characters thus far (besides Jaune's sister and her girlfriend, they can stay, sadly they're trapped in a shitty show) are horribly written for no reason.
A second writer should look at these before they hit the screen.
Racism
He talks about a south park reference which I ignored cause it's so random?
racist dog whistling.
"Mika burton spun things a certain way." Nah there's tweets w of people admitting they fucked up and the achievement hunters go online , they bring her on a podcast and pretend to cry so people can feel bad for them. And good for her she doesn't forgive them. So spinning around? How about a source? Source can't be that you made it the fuck up cause that's not a source it's a sentence wasting everyone's time.
Also "Mile's isn't white." Aw man what am I gonna tell mile's white parent? Sorry some dude on the internet said your son can't be half white, sorry me I can't be half black, or Hawaiian, Sorry Miles because you look more black your Hispanic traits don't matter for the sake of the argument. What kinda of Juvenile , stupid statement IS this? He can't be white because you say so? But he calls himself white in many tweets and literally in the statement of writing racism in RWBY.
Also nice try, moving the goalpost means you can't lose. "I'm not defending him, now watch as I waste time defending him instead of finding a source against Mika's claims cause I'm bullshitting." I mean Mika doesn't even have a reason to lie, RT employees all admitted they heard and did nothing, Torian a black animator and editor also stated he had race issues with RT and Pat boivan from Castle super beast and pat stares at made a black joke that Miles and select few members laughed at in terms of them having no black or brown people working there. And they ignore woolie when it comes to sponsored stuff, he literally says this on multiple episodes of his show, and THAT's Worrying!
Point is if Miles himself is racist, weather he's white, Hispanic, black etc he still displayed racist behavior multiple times too many. He had a chance to say something to his employees, he didn't bother, he got nervous and waked off. He had the chance when he put BLM after the lashings he got and do something with that, change the company for the better etc, but he didn't he put it there as a band-aid and took it off when he thought people weren't looking.
I keep beating this dead horse because people like you don't seem to do research at all! Because in the face of it it's easier to lie, play dumb (pffft 'play') and make excuses for them instead of holding them accountable.
I didn't want to see RT burn down for a while, but they keep pulling a blizzard, and all these, tweets, articles, statements that miles or the others say or do that's stupid, harmful, racist, shitty keep popping up! At this point it be better as a lesson not to be shitty humans for RT to quietly burn, no special treatment, I'm holding them to the same standard I do for David cage, for activation Blizzard and many other triple A companies. If you don't wanna go down in flames, maybe don't do reprehensible things that keep burning bridges for you. Simple, don't be stupid forhead!
The real mornic stuff was listening to you try and fail at mental gymnastics and not provide a single source for anything you claimed I should "be in awe" of or switching the goal post. RT.s failing and they stacked the deck against themselves, THAT's why people hate them, statements like they saying that when yang drives down the crossroads to Mistral and people guessing she's going to Ruby only for them to like and say "if you heard the bike go one way." These critics, video's, and articles don't exist for no reason.

Blush Blush Shitpost Headcanon
Weiss wanted to see Morbius in theatres just for the meme. She managed to invite Sven, Anon, and Eli with them. She needed some bfs to suffer with XD. But by some act by God (or Satan) she managed to get Stirling to come see it with them too. Stirling apparently wanted to see how Hollywood fucked up vampire interpretations this time. After the movie, Stirling half wanted to kill Weiss, Sven, and Eli because they wouldn’t stop saying “It’s Morbin time.” Anon just watches going, “When he said that line I swear everyone in that theater started going crazy and started morbing in the streets. It was most glorious thing I’ve ever seen”. Meanwhile you got Eli making fun of the movie cause I imagine he gets a kick out of making fun of shitty movies. Then you got Sven and Weiss looking at Morbius memes, reading them out loud, and just laughing hysterically. Stirling’s got the biggest “kill me now” face. Weiss then all of a sudden says, “…So… when do you guys think Morbius 2 is coming out?”. Then they all (but Stirling) start laughing. Weiss, Anon, and Sven were one of the people who signed the petition to bring Morbius back to theatres but never went XD. Then one night (or in this case day) Stirling and Weiss are sleeping in a coffin together, dead silent, then all of a sudden Stirling just hears Weiss whisper, “It’s Morbin time.” Stirling then just wakes up and is all like, “Utter that phrase again… and I’ll suck out all of your blood… and I will make that as painful as possible.” Weiss just gives a thumbs up and goes back to sleep with the most shit eating grin on their face XD.
And that was a stupid Headcanons hope you enjoyed XD

Streaming, Flaxen, Waxen; or Yang and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Jaune: *Storming in* Okay, it was kinda funny when you started hiding my scissors, Yang, but you gotta stop.
Yang: *Who had been eating her lunch, talking with Blake* Okay, what?
Jaune: My razors, Yang. Stop stealing them already.
Yang: *Genuinely baffled* Don’t know what’s crawled up your ass, Jaune, but I haven’t touched your razors. Or your scissors.
Jaune: Oh sure and I just happened to wanna grow my hair out.
*Sure enough Jaune’s blonde hair now reaches past his shoulders in a half up, half down style*
Blake: *Swirling a glass of water, eying Jaune* I think it looks nice.
Jaune: *High pitched* i tHinK iT loOkS nICe.
Yang: Hey, watch it. She’s being serious. It’s a good look--
Jaune: Fine, whatever, but the beard!? C’mon, stop playing games.
*Jaune also has a pale, almost metallic blonde beard that’s gotten pretty long - to the point where he needs a beard comb*
Yang: And I’m telling you *blows a raspberry, covers her mouth*
Jaune: *Opens mouth, closes it* Okay, not gonna lie. That kind of dismissal actually stings, Yang.
Blake: *Smiling behind her glass* Jaune. *Nods to the wall behind him*
Ruby: *Blushing*
Weiss: *Wide eyed*
Jaune: *Gears slowly start working*
Jaune: *Realization dawns, gasp overdramatically* IT WAS YOU TWO!
Yang: *Bursts out laughing*
Blake: *Giggles*
Jaune: *Gazing brokenly into the distance* Betrayed by my own girlfriends. Oh, I can totally understand why every singer ever has written about heartbreak now.
Weiss: *Eyes are still fidgeting, not looking at him directly and her cheeks have pinked* Oh stop. I-it’s just...*awkward pause* well it was Ruby’s idea so she should explain it!
Ruby: *Blushes harder and ignores Yang’s cackling* What!? Weiss you traitor! *Weiss refuses to look at her, clasping her hands* Well, uh, Jaune, i-it’s...ah, I know! How about me, you and Weiss go to the bedroom and I’ll fuck Weiss’ face on your dick while you eat me out!
Weiss: *Immediately goes bright crimson, shrieks* RUBY ROSE!
Blake: *Silently shaking from laughter*
Yang: *Freezes, lurches forward a bit* Oh. Well this is a new kind of pain.
*Weiss is slapping at a squealing Ruby, face burning and trying to get past the taller girls defenses*
Ruby: *Defending herself and peeking at Jaune from between her arms* H-howza ‘bout it!? Ow, Weiss, I’m sorry! Ow!
Jaune: *Crosses arms, gives disappointed stare*
Ruby: ACK! Not that look! OW WEISS, MY EYE! *To Jaune, hand over her eye* I only like that look when it’s cause I couldn’t hold my breath long enough or cause I came before Weiss *mutters* again. *Weiss slaps her on the top of the head* Ow, my soft spot!
Weiss: *Her neck is now red too as she finally, grumpily, crosses her own arms* Your entire head’s a soft spot.
Blake: *Has her face on the table to hide her tearful eyes, her body shaking*
Yang: *Clutches her heart* What happened to my sweet little baby sister who wanted me to braid her hair and brought me cookies and her stuffie when I was sad?
Ruby: *Defeated* Fine. I hope you know just what you were turning down--
Yang: *Crisis intensifies*
Ruby: --but if you have to know, it’s c-cause, well, *quickly* you look super hot with long hair.
Yang: *Distressed* She can shatter my entire world without blinking an eye but that’s what’s got her bashful!?
Jaune: *Blinks* Uh, thanks?
Ruby: *Blushing, looks away bashfully* Really hot. *Nudges Weiss*
Weiss: *Won’t look him in the eye* No matter how you wear it. Right now? You kinda look like a viking and i-it’s...yummy. *Ruby nods agreeing* Ponytail?
Ruby: Somewhere between starving, sexy artist and casual Jaune, which is just as sexy if not more.
Weiss: And g-gods help either one of us if you let it down because I don’t think you understand how good you look with a breeze running through your hair, just l-looking over the horizon.
Ruby: Even if you’re just thinking about what you’re gonna eat later. Trust me. It works. *Eyes glaze over* It’s like someone took hot guy and heroic knight and wrapped them all into one and *whistles and Yang flinches at it*
Weiss: T-the point is it looks good. Very good.
Jaune: *Shocked, very flattered and blushing* Oh. I had no idea. And my beard?
Weiss: *Face wobbles and she squeals, putting her hands over her face*
Ruby: Uh, that’s Weiss for she likes the way it feels. *Carefully puts an arm up, eying her girlfriend cautiously* Especially when you’re going down on her or she parks it right on you.
Weiss: *Screams into her hands, kicks Ruby in the shin and turns away* R-Ruuuubyyyy!!!!!! These things are supposed to be private! B-between lovers!
Yang: *Looking harrowed* Finally someone speaking sense in this broken, twisted world.
Ruby: Please, Yang knows I do stuff. She’s fine.
Yang: *Gapes, swallows* I think I understand how Dad felt when I started dating now.
Ruby: *Shrugs at Jaune* And I kinda love that too. Plus, just...mmmm.
Jaune: *Rubs his neck, looking away* ‘Mmm’?
Weiss: *Muffled* Yes. Beards suit you. Y-you’re handsome no matter what, but the p-pervert’s not wrong to suggest that this new look is very attractive.
Jaune: *Genuinely bashful* Oh. Then I guess it’s not so bad. But why didn’t you just say something-- *Looks at Weiss hiding while Ruby won’t stop cutely fidgeting* --aaannnddd nevermind. Got it.
*They all awkwardly stand there for a few minutes before Jaune nods, looks to Yang*
Jaune: Sorry for accusing you guys, I just figured this had practical joke written all over it.
Yang: *Weakly* N-no problem, Jaune.
Ruby: *Nods in the background* Okay, you got us both all worked up again - OW! My butt! I’m gonna make you kiss it better, Wei-OW-OW-OW! I’m sorry! *Focuses on Jaune, rubbing her recently slapped bottom* Jaune. Bedroom.
Jaune: *Immediately distracted* Well I guess if I’m having that much of an effect *trails off before smirking* but I think I know two girls who are in clear need of spankings. Faces down and asses up, you naughty girls.
Ruby: *Whispers* Oh gods we gave him confidence. *Shivers, salutes* Yes sir! *Scampers off*
Weiss: *Staring wide eyed, blush acting back up and she swallows, speaks quietly* You’re not the boss of me.
Jaune: *Smirks, walking forward* Oh? *Chases after Weiss who shrieks, spins and runs after Ruby, following her with his head held surprisingly high*
Blake: *Breathing heavily, hiccuping while wiping away mirthful tears* Oh my goodness. Those three are something else.
Yang: *Thousand yard stare* I want to die and never see the light of day again.
Blake: Oh please.
Yang: My poor, innocent baby sister! *Trying not to cry as Blake rolls her eyes, grabbing Yang’s arm to lead her outside and away from the house*

(went looking for) a creation myth [read on ao3 here]
With the Vytal Festival just weeks away, Yang is left looking for answers to questions she is too scared to ask.
***
Yang and Blake, before.
[7k words of a speed run enemies-to-lovers, roughhousing with bladed weapons, and sexually charged hair washing]
Blood is seeping through the fabric of her top, and her tan jacket is gritty with dust. It’s enough to staunch the tacky, rust-colored stain, but only just, and the cut stings with sweat and friction as Yang raises her forearm to run it across her brow.
She slicks her bangs out of her eyes, and reloads her gauntlets with a tight punch at her side, bracing her arms for the recoil as the shells drop into their chambers. Ember Celica is overloud in the sudden quiet of the clearing. Moss-dampened and studded with new spring growth, Emerald Forest is surprisingly silent, as if Yang hadn’t been booking it for her fucking life thirty seconds before.
Then, just there, through the trees – she sees it. Yang’s heart drops, and she risks a step forward, eyes scanning the mulchy cover of dead leaves and underbrush for a trip wire. There’s the potential for anything, from a steel-jawed bear trap to a cartoon-esque snare and net. She really wouldn’t put it past them.
She sees nothing and raises her eyes to scan the trees, finds only the pale underside of the arcing canopy and the gnarl of tangled vines. Grinning, she feels an early flush of victory, a rush of satisfaction that pounds like a second heartbeat. She might actually win this thing; the others be damned.
Bleeding side forgotten, fists held loosely at the ready, she is about to take the final steps toward her target when the metallic click of a safety releasing freezes her in place. Yang winces her eyes closed, breathes out shakily. She feels the mouth of a pistol nuzzle in between her shoulder blades.
Yang knows who it is without turning around. Which is to say: the worst-case scenario. She swallows, hard.
“You don’t want to do this,” she says. At a firmer nudge of the gun against her back, she raises her hands, obedient. “You can just pretend like I was never here.”
“And why would I do that?”
She turns slowly in place, arms still raised above her head, and finds herself face to face with her captor, finds narrowed, golden eyes, Gambol Shroud pointed squarely at her chest. Blake is wrinkling her nose in the way that means she’s biting back a laugh.
“Because you love me?”
Blake bites at her lip, considers. Shrugs. “Maybe. But not enough to let you take our flag.”
“I was so close,” Yang whines. She pivots her head over her shoulder, pouts in the direction of the blue fabric hanging from a flagpole just a few yards away.
“If it makes you feel any better,” Blake says, stepping closer, until the heat of her thigh presses against Yang’s, “you really weren’t. Pyrrha’s had you in her sights since you crossed the creek.”
“Have you considered,” Yang says, flattening her hands against the back of her head in a way that she knows pushes her chest out, in a way that, without fail, means Blake’s eyes will flick down to her cleavage, “that I was just a distraction?”
Blake hesitates for just a second, but it’s a beat too long, and Yang lashes out her leg, timing the strike perfectly with Weiss’s rush from the trees on the far side of the clearing, darting from glyph to glyph, a lightning-crackling Nora close on her heels.
Yang and Blake go down in an undignified heap, and Pyrrha’s shot spears the space she was in just moments before.
The scramble at the base of the flagpole dissolves into an all-out brawl. A petal-blurred Ruby drops from a tree and gamely tackles Weiss, and her subsequent shrill scream makes an entire flock of birds flee their roost from the above canopy.
More players from both teams race into the clearing, skidding through dead leaves and debris, pant legs flecked with creek water and mud, more roughed up than a 50-minute long, single class period game of capture the flag has any right to make them.
From her spot on the ground, the sky wheeling overhead, Yang distantly hopes some people stayed behind to guard their own flag, but the odds aren’t looking good.
At the edge of the tree line, Juane trips one of the exact traps Yang had been wary of, something rigged so quickly and neatly it has to be Ruby’s handiwork, and it hoists him overhead by his ankle. He dangles, looking resigned, sword sliding out of its scabbard and thunking Cardin squarely on the top of his head.
Cardin goes down like a brick.
Juane cheers.
They’re on the same team, but no one seems to remember the red/blue delineations at this point. The flag all but forgotten, Weiss and Nora are facing off against an odd match-up of Ruby and Ren, and Yang tries to clamber off the ground, ready to provide back-up.
But in the split seconds it had taken the feverish mob to descend, Blake has twisted on top of her, and is driving the hilt of Gambol Shroud down towards Yang’s face. Breathing hard, knees hugged tightly at Yang’s waist, she’s all lithe and muscle – completely unlike close quarter sparring with Ruby.
Yang catches her wrists and squeezes, and Blake drops the blade and scabbard, until the two of them are grappling like teenagers, pressed too tight for Yang to feasibly use her gauntlets, just adrenaline-flushed and tangled limbs, Blake’s eyes flashing, mouth open in an unexpected grin.
“If you wanted to wrestle,” Yang says, twisting on her back in the dirt. “We’ve got beds back at the dorm.”
Blake cuts her off with a forearm to her windpipe, presses down. “I want to do it here.”
Yang knows Blake can be playful – has seen her gloat after a long-fought evening of board games, or loopy with lack of sleep after a few too many all-nighters, pulling dry jokes that make Weiss cringe.
But this – the full weight of her levered onto Yang’s chest, bursting into a laugh as Yang’s hips jump, hands and legs meeting in a mishap of strikes and punches that would make Glynda weep – feels so young. It’s like the tether that tugs at Blake, forces her eyes over her shoulder, knots her brow with worry, has been cut free. Like just for a moment, just for now, it’s only the two of them tangled in the sun-dappled clearing.
They manage to roll to their feet, and Yang shakes her hair out of her face, cocks her fists loosely in front of her chin. Gestures Blake forward.
“Let’s see how nicely you play without your toys, Belladonna.”
Blake’s mouth pulls tight, and she drops into a crouch, leaving Gambol Shroud half-buried in the leaves.
Despite the weight of it, Yang barely remembers Ember Celica exists. It’s been an extension of her own body since her first years at Signal, but suddenly she’s much more preoccupied with how to best get both of Blake’s hands back on her.
“Yang,” Blake says. She flashes teeth. “Stop stalling.”
Behind them, Ruby and Ren are gamely losing, and Pyrrha melts out of the trees, cutting Juane down from the branch with a smile and a well-placed spear throw, catching him before he can hit the ground. All the partners had been split onto opposing teams, but Pyrrha leverages him gently to his feet anyway, backing up a few steps before gesturing for him to challenge.
Cheek smushed into the forest floor, Cardin has begun to drool.
With the full weight of Blake’s attention on her, Yang feels that same second-heartbeat-flush, better than any almost-victory. It’s a feeling she has been careful not to examine too closely for fear of what she will find.
They’ve been partners now for almost two full semesters, and she’s spent too much of it avoiding stating the obvious – avoiding the thing building in between them as if averted eyes will stop the pot from boiling over.
The few slip ups she chalks up to chance, to hormones, to a laundry list of excuses that Blake’s own silence seems to affirm.
It’s working, she tells herself. It’s working, it’s working.
Hair a tousled ripple down her back, Blake’s black cravat had dislodged at some point during the game, leaving her neck bare, skin shining with sweat, glistening in the hollow of her throat. She flicks her bangs out of her eyes and tenses under Yang’s gaze, firming her jaw until the muscle pops, half-smiles.
If Yang didn’t know any better, she would think Blake is enjoying this.
Blake moves on the offensive first, and it catches Yang off-guard, forcing her to step back to dodge a flurry of quick jabs before taking a fist squarely to the jaw. Blake flinches harder than Yang when she lands the hit, immediately backing off.
“It’s okay,” Yang murmurs. Her aura absorbs the punch, and she can feel her semblance simmer, heat lighting under her skin like the kiss of a match against a gas burner. “You can even go harder next time.”
Blake rolls her eyes, but acquiesces.
Even sparring, Blake is careful not to touch her hair – and part of Yang wants to tell her to stop taking it easy, to grab it, pull it. She wants to know what it feels like when Blake plays dirty.
Inevitably, always, Yang comes out on top, breathing hard, the both of them breathless with laughter – unsure what to do with her victory. She knows both of their aura levels are sinking, and Ruby – all but fleeing from Weiss across the clearing – has dropped dangerously low.
When a shrill whistle interrupts the scramble – the flag still dangling untouched, she and Blake immediately deflate, the fight going out of them as easy as it came. Yang heaves a noise of exasperation, drops her forehead onto Blake’s chest. When she lifts her head, Blake’s arms have wrapped loosely around her back.
“Call it a draw?” Yang says, digs her chin hard into Blake’s sternum. “I pretty much had you.”
“Nice try,” Blake says. Her words reverberate in her chest, and Yang feels every moment of their conception, the slight intake of breath into her lungs, the buzz of them as they carry through her throat.
Professor Port’s voice is like a bucket of cold water. He’s standing at the edge of the wood, brandishing a silver whistle, looking at them with ill-disguised exasperation.
“Class,” he says, “I believe the directive was to steal the other team’s flag, not to scrap like children on a playground.”
“Who won?” Weiss pipes up. She’s scraping her hair back into a neat ponytail, standing over a prone Ruby who must have fallen, and has wisely chosen to stay down.
“Everyone lost,” Port says, cheerily. “Back to the school. After that display, I don’t trust you all out here after dark.”
Despite the game’s failure, he seems in good spirits, clapping Juane on the back, and chiding Pyrrha about helping the opposing team mid competition. As punishment, Juane is saddled with Cardin, likely concussed, and directed to help him back to the infirmary.
Hauling herself off the ground, brushing clinging soil off of elbows, picking leaves out of her hair, Yang reaches for Gambol Shroud without thinking. It’s half-submerged in the close-knit groundcover, and she untangles it from curling tendrils of green, robotically sheathing the blade back into the blunt scabbard.
Only after, does she freeze, halfway to her feet. It’s an unspoken taboo to handle other huntresses’ weapons, certainly not without express permission, and here she had done it so casually, tactless.
But Blake, one arm stretched over her head, shoulder muscles rippling, doesn’t bat an eye. She accepts it from Yang gratefully, fingers brushing as it passes between them. She slings it over her back, and reaches toward Yang, pulls a twig free of her hair.
Wordless, they head toward the group, Yang trying to gauge if she’s going to have to piggy-back Ruby to the dorm room. Still lying prone, Weiss is poking at her with the toe of a boot.
It’s only then, so brief she almost misses it, that Blake reaches between them, brushes her fingers over the cuff of Ember Celica. It feels like the answer to a question Yang hadn’t known how to ask, and the last of the fight, the tension she didn’t know she was carrying, coiling at the top of her spine, ebbs entirely.
They fall into step easily, automatically, and together reach down to help Ruby off the ground. Like a top-heavy punching bag, Ruby lists once she’s on her feet, limbs weighted with exhaustion.
Though Yang reaches out, it’s Blake who steadies her, one hand brushing Ruby’s bangs out of her eyes.
“Reunited at last,” Yang says, laughs at Weiss’s pinched expression. “Can’t believe that game had the audacity to tear us in two.”
“Shut up,” Weiss grumbles, but she’s smiling, and half-heartedly accepts Yang’s high-five. Yang bullies them into a bear hug before they join the others, an eight-legged jumble of girl-sweat and protesting laughter, leaning so hard on one another that when they begin to fall, they topple in turn, like dominoes.
***
After Port’s dismissal, they troop back to the Beacon dorms leisurely. They have an hour of free period before dinner, and no one in seems to be in any rush to get to the dining hall, content to nurse bruises and grievances, ribbing each other good naturedly, flags forgotten.
Ren is quietly chastising Nora about what looks suspiciously like a human bite mark wetting the sleeve of his tunic, and Juane brings up the rear of the group, quietly sulking, a blessedly out-of-it Cardin’s arm slung over his shoulder.
The wooded forest bleeds into a scrubby grassland, and they wade through waist-high wheatgrass as the spires of Beacon come into view, dodging prickly burs and seedpods that cling stubbornly to their socks and hemlines.
Yang presses her palm to her side. It comes away tacky with old blood, and she grimaces. Her aura had strained to heal it, skin stitching together to staunch the flow, but the last of the fight had drained her reserves, and it reopened easily in the struggle. Catching the movement out of the corner of her eye, Blake grabs for Yang’s hand, frowns down at her skin like a disgruntled palm reader.
“How did that happen?”
What she doesn’t say, plainly written on the landscape of her face in a language Yang is just learning to read is: is that from me?
“My own fault, actually,” Yang says. “We really don’t need to get into it.”
She ignores the stinging pain in favor of Blake’s fingers, stroking carefully over the dips of her knuckles.
“She fell out of a tree early in the strategizing process,” Weiss says. She’s snuck up on them, appearing at Yang’s elbow, face drawn with disdain. Her voice lilts, obviously mocking. “Oh, don’t worry about it, Weiss. I’m just getting the lay of the land, Weiss. Those branches aren’t too thin, Weiss.” She sniffs. “You could have broken your neck.”
“See,” Yang says, slinging an arm around Weiss’s shoulder, pulling her against her side, “she does care.”
“I didn’t say it would be a bad thing,” she says. But Yang doesn’t miss the way she turns her face into her casual embrace, her hand coming up to tug at the back of Yang’s jacket affectionately, clumsy, like it’s an action she’s unfamiliar with.
Blake smiles, ducks her chin. “Don’t say that. I like having her around.”
Yang quiets her internal rejoicing to a silent cheer. She feels, helplessly, like a child picking petals from a wilting stem. She loves me. She loves me not.
She beams, bumping her shoulder against Blake’s. “From Blake, that’s practically a marriage proposal.”
Cheeks flushing, Blake tucks a strand of hair behind one ear, looks away. “Don’t get ahead of yourself.”
“Who’s getting married?” This from Ruby, fending off an assault from Weiss who is trying to pat down a stubborn cowlick in the tangled mess of her hair.
“No one,” says Weiss. “You need a haircut.”
“Me and Blake,” Yang says, cheerfully. “She was the one to propose and everything, it was super embarrassing.”
“Congrats,” Ruby says, batting at Weiss’s hands.
“Long time coming, really,” Yang says. She smiles at Blake. “I’m picturing a summer wedding.”
Blake rolls her eyes, but smiles. A rare one, with teeth. Yang almost stops walking, just to take it in.
Clearly over their antics, Weiss lengthens her stride to catch up with Pyrrha, Ruby trailing behind.
It leaves Blake and Yang alone, shoulder to shoulder, picking their away along the muddy, tire-rutted path that meanders toward the eastern portion of the Beacon grounds. In the distance, the colorful, striped tents of the Vytal Festival fairgrounds are just visible, the encampment half-pitched in preparation for the festival, mere weeks away.
The skeleton of a mostly-assembled Ferris Wheel crests over the treetops, like the pale, bleached bones of a Goliath, its mechanical frame at odds with the verdant landscape.
“Excited?” Yang asks. She bumps her shoulder against Blake’s, jerks her chin toward the pennants lethargically drooping in the stagnant spring heat.
“Hardly,” Blake says. She peeks at Yang out of the corner of her eye. “The tournament might be interesting, at least.”
“All the people, the spectacle, the fried festival food,” Yang reels off, ticking up her fingers, “it sounds like your –”
“—worst nightmare,” Blake says.
Yang laughs. “Maybe so, but,” she shrugs, “meeting new people, smashing their faces in, it’s the huntress way.”
“Now that,” Blake says, “I can get behind.”
Ahead of them, Weiss seems to be trying to engage Pyrrha in an in-depth analysis of the capture of flag bout, looking seconds away from pulling out a notebook and taking notes on every one of Pyrrha’s absentminded observations.
“This is painful to watch,” Yang says, gleefully. “If Pyrrha touches her, she’s going to –”
Pyrrha sets a hand at the small of Weiss’s back, guides her around a rock pitting the dirt path.
“Oh, there it is,” Blake says. She’s actually biting her lower lip to hold in laughter, eyes squinting with mirth. “Someone check the girl’s pulse.”
Like this, sun-lit and flushed, wearing her in-on-the-joke smile, Blake is radiant. She’s a little roughed up from the fight, ribbon a dark, striped wreath around her forearms, her top mud-streaked, the single button of her vest undone.
Yang is enamored. She offers her an arm to use as a crutch, and Blake leans into, buries a laugh in her shoulder.
Ahead of them, Weiss seems to be staggering her way through a conversation about semblances, ponytail swishing. She only comes up to Pyrrha’s shoulder, and when Pyrrha pauses, blithely rubbing at a scrape of dirt on Weiss’s cheeks. Yang can see Weiss’s face blush and burn, even from ten feet away.
Ruby, lagging a few steps behind, looks chuffed to be the most intelligible person in the vicinity.
“Why don’t you look at me like that?” Yang murmurs. They’re winding their way through a spindly grove of peach trees, the last surviving vestiges of the orchards that used to grow on Beacon’s loamy, river-rich soil.
Unkept, the trunks fork and spur, rough bark splitting like over-risen bread, papering off in grey-brown patches. This early in the season, the fruit is small and green, but Blake pauses under the heavy boughs anyway, tilts her face upward.
“What?” she says, studying the waxy, canoe-shaped leaves, veins bleeding from the midrib in furrows. “Like I’m going into cardiac arrest?”
“No,” Yang says, teeth parting around a laugh, “like you adore me.”
Blake gestures Yang forward, touches a palm to her cheek, guides Yang to look up to the branches above where, inexplicably, Blake has spotted a single ripe peach.
Without needing to be asked, Yang knits her fingers at her belt buckle like a basket, offers it to Blake who leverages herself up to grasp a branch, just high enough to pluck the peach from the stem. She lands lightly on her feet, offers it first to Yang, who cups the fuzzed, sunrise-bodied fruit in her palms.
“Maybe you’re not looking hard enough,” Blake says.
Reaching out, she lifts Yang’s hands, brings the peach to her own mouth, and takes a bite. Juice dribbles from her lips, wets Yang’s knuckles, the vessel of her palm. Blake does not meet her eyes.
A world away, the dinner bell clangs on campus, and the sound reaches them across the grounds. From just ahead, Ruby yells for them to catch up.
**
Yang’s sweating again by the time they enter the Beacon courtyard, the sun creeping west across the sky. Already, the moon, in fragments, hangs low over the horizon like a coin toss, illusory and half-spun. Heat shimmers off the gray cobblestones, a sun-stoked haze that blurs the geometry of fountains to a mirage, and she wriggles out of her jacket, stripping down to her orange tank, hissing when the rotation of her shoulder pulls at her side.
Blake looks at her, and immediately cuts her eyes away. Looks back, lingers. She has an affinity for Yang’s freckled shoulders, has said as much, and Yang exposes them around her as much as possible.
Between them, Blake’s fingers brush the back of Yang’s hand. She thinks, for a moment, that Blake might take her hand in her own, and the idea alone leaves her with a wanting so keen it embarrasses her.
It’s compulsive, chemical, that Blake’s presence pulls her attention like gravity.
A touch curls at the inside of her elbow, and Blake tugs Yang gently toward her, sidestepping a water feature that looms, overlarge and obvious.
“You were about to walk into a fountain,” Blake murmurs. One of the loops of her bow flicks, a smile ghosts the corner of her lips.
Yang jerks her chin up, begins to apologize, and Blake shakes her head. “As fun as that might have been, I don’t want to miss dinner because I’m drying you off.”
“I think I could have handled it on my own,” Yang says, leans into Blake’s touch.
“What kind of betrothed would I be,” Blake says, releasing her elbow and moving toward the mouth of the dining hall, “if I left you wet and alone in your time of need?” She only spares Yang a glance before stepping out of the final slash of the sunlight, into the shadow of the doorway.
Frozen, Yang roots herself into the flagstone – tries to parse apart if Blake could have possibly intended that as – if she would have ever said something so – and no, right? No.
“Blake – ” she says, helpless. But Blake is already disappearing inside with a light laugh, leaving Yang to flounder in her wake.
In the early evening sun, buffered by classmates on either side, Yang stares after her, desperately trying to do the math, imagines petals shedding like snowfall.
**
It’s Blake who offers, which surprises each of them, but most of all Yang.
They’re scattered around the dorm room after dinner and a short stint in the library, Weiss pulling her pajama top over her head, Ruby dangling upside down from the top bunk, while Blake smooths a bandage over Yang’s ribs.
In just a sports bra, sitting on the edge of her desk, Blake’s hands trailing over her side, Yang feels like she’s lost control of the situation. Blake mistakes her shuddering breath for pain, and winces in sympathy.
“I’m sorry.” She presses down the adhesive of the bandage with her finger gingerly, nails skirting the rungs of Yang’s ribs, prodding the skin as she checks for inflammation. “I’m almost done, I promise.”
“All good,” Yang says, strained. She’s trying to decide if flexing her arms, like, only a little bit, is going to be a dead giveaway. “Take your time, really.”
Across the room, Weiss scoffs. Yang tries to pin her with a glare, but Weiss evades, busies herself tidying her discarded clothes from the day. Weiss must be the only person in the world who folds her shirts before she puts them in the dirty clothes hamper. It causes Ruby endless amusement, and she swivels her head to watch.
Blake’s hands are cool, and Yang can smell the citrus-perfume of her soap, the soft cotton of her t-shirt rubbing against Yang’s bare shoulder as she leans closer to survey her handiwork.
“I think you’re going to live,” she says. She meets Yang’s eyes glancingly before her gaze drops down, hovers somewhere around Yang’s mouth.
Ruby clambers from the top bunk and comes up on her feet, shaking her hair out of her eyes. Weightless with static from the thick, wool blankets, it frizzes and wisps, too short for a ponytail, and too long to do anything but make her look like a disgruntled miniature pony.
Pulling away from Yang’s side, Blake turns to Ruby thoughtfully. Yang, immediately missing the warmth of her, falls back onto the desk, her muscles popping gratefully with the pull of the stretch. She examines the pulpy, drop-tile ceiling studiously, trying to calm her heartrate, embarrassed at the rush of longing Blake always seems to leave in her wake.
“You know, I could cut it for you, if you wanted,” Blake says. This to Ruby, whose eyes go wide, a little shy, a little pleased.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
Yang turns her head, grinning again, shrugging the melancholy off like shedding a second skin. “Now this, I’ve got to see.”
***
Blake drags a desk chair from the bedroom, positions it in front of the sink. She’s spinning a small pair of silver scissors on her pointer finger when she ushers Ruby into the bathroom, and Yang and Weiss troop in as well, like it’s a given.
With the four of them crammed in the tiny bathroom, it’s a tight fit, and Yang leans with her back against the door, Weiss perched on the edge of the tub.
“I didn’t realize I would actually have an audience,” Blake says, quietly, but she isn’t successful in hiding her smile, mouth turning up at the corners.
The sink is running, and she dips two fingers under the flow, waits for it to warm, flicks water in Ruby’s face just to tease.
Shoulders relaxing, Ruby barely grumbles as Blake pushes her gently down into the chair, tilting her head back until her hair wets under the faucet’s flow.
“Too hot?” Blake asks. She cups water in her palms, diverting it until it wets Ruby’s hair to its roots, slicking her bangs out of her face with careful fingers.
Ruby shakes her head, bare feet swinging over the tiles. “S’nice,” she slurs, lashes fluttering against her cheek. “Mom used to do this, remember?” This to Yang, one eye cracking to look at her before closing again.
Arms crossed, Yang nods. “I do.”
Her voice sounds strange, swollen, even to her. She clears her throat, looks to Blake who is looking back at her, gaze soft and steady. The mirror over the sink is fogging with heat, and Yang is stupidly glad not to see her own expression reflected in the glass.
The memory is blurry with overuse, and she feels selfish for hoarding it, something she and Ruby talk about so rarely – the short window of domesticity, the four of them, together.
Blake must sense her discomfort and leans over Ruby, carding through her hair gently, warm water swirling down the drain.
“We’ll just do a trim, okay?” She tilts her head, considering. “Just enough to get your bangs out of your eyes.”
From her spot on the lip of the tub, Weiss is watching the them with open interest, dressed in her slouchiest pajamas, hair loose around her shoulders.
Blake looks back at her. “What do you think?”
Weiss looks surprised to have been asked to weigh in, and shifts unsteadily, pinning her hands under the backs of her thighs, lips tucked into her mouth.
“It will look nice,” Weiss ventures. Then, unsteadily, like she’s unsure if that’s the right answer: “Fine, I mean. It will look fine.”
“Weiss thinks I look nice,” Ruby says, dreamily, eyes still closed.
Yang laughs. “Anything to stop you from going into fights blind should do the trick.”
Blake is methodical and careful, her movements practiced, and Yang watches her hands closely, fascinated by the routine of her gestures. Her long fingers are sure as she brushes out Ruby’s hair, fixing the lengths of hair between two fingers, snipping, tendrils of dyed red spiraling to the bathroom tile.
“You’re good at that,” Yang says, careful not to pose it as a question, even if her curiosity is clear.
“After I left home,” Blake says, tilting her head to frown at Ruby’s hair, thoughtful, “there weren’t places where – well, there weren’t many places that would be willing to serve Faunus, let alone cut our hair.”
Focused on her task, Blake fits two fingers under Ruby’s chin, lifts until she’s staring straight ahead. She hums, approving. When she began to talk, Yang, Blake and Weiss each stilled, incremental, like curious children unwilling to startle a flighty bird.
It’s rare for Blake to offer much from before, even after all these months, and Yang squirrels away every piece of information she manages to glean, coveted closely in a well-hidden corridor in her chest.
“It was a necessity at first, we were moving around a lot, but I like it now,” Blake says. “It’s soothing.” She scrubs her hand under the fall of Ruby’s hair, appraising her work. “I wish we had some clippers, you would look really good with a, like, undercut.”
Tilting her head to look back at Blake, Ruby grins. “Yeah?’
“Oh, yeah,” Blake says. “Very edgy.”
Ruby’s eyes flutter closed again and she leans back into Blake’s hands, accepting the easy touch, pleased.
Watching her like this, the baby round of Ruby’s cheeks, her deep-set eyes, so like Summer, Yang’s heart pangs and pulls. She looks so young, and it’s been so long since she’s seen Ruby find comfort and closeness in groups like this. At Signal, she was always worlds apart.
Too young to hang out with Yang and her friends, and too buried in her comics and starry-eyed dreams of far-flung heroism to mesh easily with the other kids her age. Weiss is watching, too, almost hungry. She is starved, Yang has come to realize, in similar ways – for family, for acceptance, for the way Blake look back to ask her opinion, listening intently when Weiss ventures an answer.
“Okay,” Blake says, steps back. “All set, I think.”
Ruby pops up out of her seat, swipes a hand through the mirror’s condensation to look at her reflection, tilting her head this way and that, before grinning, bright.
“It’s perfect.” Then, shyly, “thank you, Blake.”
“Anytime,” Blake says. “We can pick up dye next time we’re in Vale, recolor the ends.”
Yang groans. “Don’t get her started, she’s been threatening more drastic dye jobs since grade school. I’ve had to talk her out of lime green more times than I can count.”
“The red suits you,” Weiss says, pushing off of her perch to more closely examine Ruby’s bangs. Ruby obediently stops fidgeting, submits to Weiss’s hands, but not before shaking her wet head like a dog, sending water droplets flying.
Aghast, Weiss hisses a chastisement, but cards her hands through her hair, all the same.
“I could cut yours,” Blake says to Weiss. Appraises her, head tilted. “It’s getting long.”
Weiss looks shocked at the sudden kindness, turning a gradient of shades, from a light pink to a dark red the longer Blake looks at her.
“Oh, no,” she says, haltingly. “I have a standing appointment at an Atlas salon but,” she trails off.
Blake nods, that tiny smile still evident on the puzzle-box mystery of her mouth.
Ruby looks on with interest, pokes at Weiss’s cheek, but knows better than to comment.
With a final thanks, the two of them troop out of the bathroom in a snippy caravan, Weiss already haranguing Ruby about an assignment due in the morning, Ruby loudly asking Weiss if she’ll brush her hair before homework, anyhow.
Their departure leaves a vacuum, a pocket of silence, just Yang and Blake, who both seem to realize how close they are standing at the same time, all excuses having fled the room on the heels the others.
“Thank you for doing that,” Yang says, quietly, she reaches out hesitantly and takes Blake’s hand, rubs her thumb across her knuckles. “It’s nice not to do all the mothering, for once.” She shakes her head. “I tried to cut her hair once, must have been about 13. Dad almost had to shave her whole head.”
“She would have loved it though,” Blake says. She doesn’t pull her hand away.
Yang laughs. “Yeah, probably. She steps closer, emboldened by their hands clasped between them, by the way Blake tilts her whole body toward her, magnetic.
“It was really nothing,” Blake says. “Ruby restitched, like, four pairs of my leggings last week, anyway.”
“It was sweet of you to offer a trim to Weiss, too.” Yang lowers her voice, though the other two are well out of earshot, having closed the bathroom door behind them. “I don’t think she was ready for you to send her into a full-fledged sexual identity crisis.”
Blake throws her head back in a laugh, exposing the long line of her throat, cheeks dimpling. “Oh, no. That’s what Pyrrha is for.” A beat. “I don’t think I’m her type anyway.”
“How?” Yang blurts, clumsy and unthinking, tries to amend it with – “I think you’re everyone’s type,” which really just digs the hole deeper.
Blake looks at her steadily, in that awful way she does, and shoves a little bit at Yang’s shoulder, bullies her toward the chair.
“You should let me do you next,” she says. She must misinterpret Yang’s expression – which flatlines at an alarming speed, elevator music starting to play behind her eyes – and hurries to correct herself. “I mean, not a cut. I know how you feel about your hair, but I could wash it?”
“Wash it?” Yang looks at the sink, back to Blake. The air in the bathroom seems to be getting thinner, and she can’t stop looking at Blake’s forearms, the flex of them as she toys with the scissors, running her thumb lightly over the tapered point.
“You’ve still got leaves in it from earlier,” Blake says, words taut with amusement, “and if you lift your arms over your head, you’re going to undo all my hard work anyway.”
The cut is mostly healed, barely a pale scar at this point, and they both know it. Yang wonders how long they will continue to run round these excuses.
It’s working, it’s working, it’s – “Let me touch you,” Blake says. She presses down on Yang shoulder, guides her toward the chair. “You look like you’re about to pass out.”
The chair creaks under Yang’s weight, and her outstretched legs butt up against the opposite bathroom wall. To maneuver around her, Blake has to step between her legs, her hips pressed tight against the inside of Yang’s bare thighs.
Unsure, Yang leans her head back, feels the porcelain cold against the back of her neck. “Like this?”
“Just like that.”
Blake turns on the faucet, and the lull of running water, the warmth of it, is enough to make Yang drowsy and pliant, hands clasped obediently on her lap.
“I love your hair,” Blake says, quiet, confessional. She runs her hands through it, pulls gently, the sensation sending tingles to Yang’s scalp. Yang’s eyes close, and she breathes out through her nose, shifting unsteadily in the chair.
She hears the plastic click of a shampoo bottle, and lavender perfumes the air. Yang thinks of gardens, of soft-petaled flowers, of sunlight and checkered blankets.
“We should have a picnic,” she murmurs. Her muscles feel putty-soft, and Blake’s hands, slick with water and suds, are drawing tiny circles under the fall of her hair, thumbs pressing ecstatically into the corded muscle at the base of her neck.
There’s laughter, barely hidden, in Blake’s voice. “Come again?”
“A picnic.” Yang doesn’t open her eyes. “Just you and me.”
“Did I knock you too hard in the head today?” Blake asks. “Give you a concussion?” Her fingers slip up to prod at Yang’s temples before her fingers firm, massaging there. Yang groans. For her sake, Blake pretends not to hear it.
“I’m not concussed,” Yang says. Against the back of her eyelids, there’s a constellation of color. Blake sluices warm water through her hair, washing out the last of the shampoo. Yang’s hand ventures from her lap, hooks her fingers in the soft cotton pocket of Blake’s shorts. “I just like you.”
She still doesn’t open her eyes, worried that if she does, reality will solidify, transport her away from the dreamy-liminal of this unspoken space, Blake’s hands in her hair, Blake’s body warm against her thighs.
“I like you, too.”
“Actually, I think you said you loved me earlier.”
Blake laughs. “I didn’t. You said I loved you.”
Yang does open her eyes now, finds Blake startlingly close, her gold-flecked eyes, the laugh lines that crease the corners of her mouth like the seams of a love letter, folded over, then folded over again. She steps out of the bracket of Yang’s legs to fetch a towel. Yang reaches to take it, but Blake pushes her hands away, preferring to towel at Yang’s wet hair herself, leaning across her body, her chest pressing against Yang’s shoulder.
Embarrassed now, Yang squirms, but submits to the attention, lets Blake dab away beaded water at her hairline, droplets dripping into her ears, wetting the shoulders of her t-shirt.
“But you were right,” Blake says, so matter a fact, Yang almost doesn’t understand her meaning. Comprehension pales in comparison to the sheen of water on Blake’s hands, her wrists, as she wipes them dry, her hair spilling long and dark around her shoulders, the ends wet where she had leaned over the sink. Blake tosses the towel underhand toward the hamper behind the door, reinserts herself between Yang’s legs. “I do love you. I really do. And yes.”
“Yes?” Yang asks, dazed, still stuck halfway inside the feeling of Blake’s body, pressed up firmly against her own.
“Yes to the picnic,” Blake says. “Just the two of us.”
She loves me.
Yang shifts to prop herself upright against the body of the sink and frames Blake’s hips in her hands, guiding her firmly into the V of her legs. Blake concedes, arms wrapping around Yang’s neck, petting through damp hair. The hem of her shirt scrunches under Yang’s fingertips, slipping up to reveal the unblemished hollow of her hip, the skin of her sides, goosepimpling under the duress of Yang’s touch.
“We should do that thing again,” Yang says, a wish, a confession. Said aloud, she’s worried, like memory, she’ll bleed away the magic of unspoken things, but it only seems to strengthen the energy between them, the accumulated weight of all that they never talk about.
Blake plays dumb, but she’s smiling, ducking close even as she asks, “what thing?”
Her breath is warm against Yang’s ear, and she presses her mouth just there, against the round of Yang’s cheek.
“Close,” Yang says. She exhales, grip tightening.
Blake drags her lips to Yang’s jaw. Then to the dimple of her chin.
“Closer.”
Blake kisses her, proper, all it takes is a tilt of her head, nose nudging into the plush-round of Yang’s cheek. They both breath twin sighs of relief, like the pressure of playing coy has been alleviated in a single moment. Blake’s hands knot in Yang’s hair, fingers threading.
Yang smiles, murmurs: “just like that.”
It isn’t their first kiss, but it’s close. New enough that Yang still isn’t used to the shape of Blake’s mouth, the rhythm of her kisses, or the taste of her breath. New enough that this alone is enough to alight a heady, perfect rush, the thrill of two whole, perfect things slotting into place.
Her hands slide to the small of Blake’s back, splaying wide across the ridge of her spine, and Blake whines low in her throat, tilting her head until their mouths catch in full, her teeth scraping against Yang’s bottom lip.
Blake swings her leg over Yang’s hip, then the other, settles on her lap. The warmth of her body like a weighted blanket, her chest pushed flush to Yang’s. Pulling back, breaths ragged, they survey each other, eyes bright.
Blake drops a kiss on the bridge of Yang’s nose. Again, on her mouth. Yang tilts her chin up, submits. Nods lazily into another kiss, rolls her tongue into Blake’s mouth.
They don’t talk about it, but they never do.
In the crowded, humid heat of the bathroom, the silence is enough, both smelling like the same shampoo, like lavender, trading kisses until their mouths are slick and pink, until Blake has a strawberry bite under the collar of her t-shirt, and there is no excuse they can make to Ruby and Weiss to explain the lost time.
Exiting the bathroom feels like stepping through a portal – the air of the bedroom is stale and cold, and tastes like the bitter-metallic spit of the cranky window unit that churns, futile and constant.
They shouldn’t have worried. Ruby and Weiss are passed out on Weiss’s bottom bunk, tilted into each other, Weiss’s head leaned up into Ruby’s chest, a textbook open on her lap.
Blake smiles at them, soft, and Yang presses a finger to her lips. Sound asleep, neither stirs when Yang removes the book or when she shifts both of Weiss’s legs to the bed, pulls the lip of the comforter up over their bodies.
Weiss does move then, but only to turn her face into Ruby’s throat, fingers curling into the sleeve of her shirt.
Across the room, Yang watches Blake walk through the final stages of her night time routine. Removing her rings, one-by-one, setting them into a china bowl at her bedside. Toeing off her socks – because anyone who sleeps in socks is a serial killer, yang – and turning back the cool underside of her covers.
Yang, suddenly shy, mythical, waits for an invitation.
“It’s only fair,” Blake whispers. She shifts over to make space against the hollow of her body. “Turn off the light.”
Yang does, the room plunged to darkness, and she feels that little-kid thrill in the few steps it takes her to cross to the bed. By the time she reaches it, she fears Blake will already be gone, leaving her only with under-the-bed monsters and grasping hands.
She shivers into the sheets, and it’s Blake’s warmth that accepts her, slinging a long, bare leg over her hip, claiming her cheek with a warm palm, stroking her bangs out of her eyes.
“We need to talk about it,” Yang whispers.
She can see Blake’s eyes gleam in the darkness, a flat sheen. Yang swallows, wriggles closer until she can insinuate her thigh between Blake’s legs, suddenly desperate to be close. She would swallow her whole if she could, sink themselves inside of one another, like nesting dolls, like palms cupped in prayer.
Yang’s eyes adjust in the half-dark in the time it takes Blake to answer, moonlight shredding through the parted curtains. When Blake opens her mouth, the wet of her mouth refracts light, the uncurling of her tongue.
“I know,” Blake says, voice small.
Their hips-stomach-breasts bully into one another, until every breath is a part of a cycle.
“If we don’t, we’re just going to keep colliding until something breaks.”
“I know,” Blake says, again. “There’s just so much I haven’t told you yet.”
Yang runs her hands up and down Blake’s side, slips her palm under the hem of her shirt to feel the blanket-heat of her bare skin.
“We have time,” she hushes. She tilts in, her lips find the corner of Blake’s mouth, press there. Retreat. “After the Vytal festival, then. We can have our picnic. We’ll talk about all of it.”
Blake nods, nose pressing into Yang’s. She giggles, readjusts, turns her mouth into Yang’s cheek. “Okay. After the festival.”
Pinkies twined under the covers, they seal it with a kiss. Blake nods more kisses against her mouth, slips a tongue behind her teeth, until the taste of her lingers well into Yang’s dreams.
Yang won’t remember falling asleep.

A look into the multiverse chapter 8 SAOA
Many thanks to my friend friend @bssaz97 for his work on the reactions. And TheGoldenBoy2188 for the strict for SAOA making writing easy. The next reaction will be a suprise so stay tune.
Amidst the streets of Mantle, Whitley Schnee walked towards a destination while wearing a disguise consisting of a coat, scarf, shaded glasses, and a flat cap. He had a mission and he would not waste this opportunity!
It was not every day that he could simply leave the manor without Father's permission or notice so he needed to be quick but not noticeable. He had waited months for this day to arrive. Whitley had pre-ordered the latest MMO game of his favorite game series a week before the initial release date and had come to pick it up. Having connections in the right places certainly did have its benefits. The only downside was he had to acquire his prize somewhere outside of his father's notice. So what other place to go than Atlas's sister kingdom.
Outside of his notice, a young white haired faunus woman with sheep ears followed close behind him. Fiona Thyme was out picking up some food for the rest of the Happy Huntresses when she noticed an unfamiliar person walking around. She knew almost everyone on this side of Mantle, so a new person popping out of the blue was very suspicious. Normally she would have reported this back to Robyn but upon further inspection she recognized who this person was.
It was the sole son of the worst man on Remnant and the newly appointed heir of the Schnee Dust Company, Whitley Schnee! Why was he here in Mantle?! Fiona determined he was up to no good and decided to follow him. Wherever the SDC goes, trouble usually follows!
Whitley finally arrived at the destination he was seeking… the Post Office! Now all he had to do was open the door, enter the establishment aaaaaand- stare dumbfounded as the inside of this place was a theatre.
"What the-? This isn't the post office. Where am I?!" Whitley shouted at no one in particular.
"Ah-ha! Caught you right where I- Huh? Where the hell? This isn't the post office!" Fiona also dumbfounded.
"Whitley?" Both Weiss and Winter stated in a mix of shock and disbelief at seeing their little brother. Maybe some hostility on Weiss part.
"Weiss? Winter? How-?"
"What the hell is this?!" A loud female voice shouted as four more people arrived out of nowhere. Consisting of two normal sized humans, a bunny faunus and a very large man.
"Coco/Velvet/Fox/Yatsuhashi!" Teams RWBY and JNR said collectively.
"Oh hello everyone! This… is a surprise! When did you get to Vacuo?" Velvet asked the group.
Fiona turned towards the new strangers, "Vacuo? What are you talking about? You're all in Mantle?"
"I'm most certain we're in Vacuo at the time." Yatsu spoke.
"You are in neither at the moment." Ozpin spoke up.
"What the- Teach? Weren't you supposed to be dead?!" Coco confusingly points out.
"I believe an explanation is in order."
*One short but informative explanation later*
"Wait so we were brought here to watch… alternate realities?" Fiona says after she and all the new arrivals had been told everything about the theater.
"We call them viewings but yeah pretty much." Ruby said.
"Hold on, I can understand why all of you were brought here, seeing as you all are huntsmen and huntresses. But that doesn't explain why I'm here." Whitley, having taken off his disguise.
"A great question indeed." Weiss mutters.
"I think I have a theory." Blake stepped forward. "So far now, I've noticed that the people who are here have at least some involvement in the viewings that we have been seeing. Remember that one viewing we saw of Whitley being stuck inside a video game?"
"I was stuck in a video game?"
"Also if you die in the game you die for real." Nora added.
Whitley's eyes widened at the implications.
"Well you're still stuck as far as we know. But apparently you're very good at the game so you might be fine." Jaune clarifies. Slightly feeling guilty that his alternate is the one who traps him there.
"Oh joy, now I'm trapped inside a place against my will in two realities!" Whitley throws his hands in frustration.
"Oh boo hoo! Is the rich boy gonna cry because nothings going his way today?" Fiona says in a mocking tone.
"Oh I'm sure you would know so much about crying and complaining about trivial things, thief." He shot back at Fiona.
"At least I think about the people of Mantle! When was the last time you thought of someone outside of yourself, Schnee!" Fiona retorted.
Winter sensing that this conversation was going nowhere stepped in between her brother and the happy huntress.
"Enough! None of us came here by choice so let's just stop this pointless arguing and move on."
Fiona huffed, "I couldn't agree more." She stomped away from the two siblings and found herself a seat in the theater.
Winter sighed, "It may not be ideal but as long as you are here Whitley, I would just suggest sitting tight and wait until you or all of us are able to leave this place."
"Hmph, very well. Thank you sister, it almost sounds like you care." Whitley took his leave and found a seat that was about four seats away from Weiss's team.
"Isn't there anywhere else you want to sit," Weiss practically hisses.
"Oh but Weiss it's the only seat that's close enough to you." Whitley affirmed.
Weiss groans in frustration, 'Hopefully it's only for one viewing…'
An acoustic guitar plays in the background as a montage of the events of and post-Episode 1 appears on the screen and a narrator began to talk.
" A month had passed since that fateful day. When everyone's world got all twisted, leaving them stranded in a castle in the sky. Since then, 2000 poor souls came to an abrupt and tragic end. Some by bad luck, others by sheer stupidity. I mean, really. Why would you just stand in fire? Anyways, that didn't bother The Kid none. He only cared about one thing, and one thing alone. Himself. 'Cuz in a game of life or death, you either live... or you die."
The scene transitions to Shirou leaning against a wall with an annoyed look on his face.
"What?! Two thousand of the players have died already!" Ruby yelled, tears starting to form in her eyes.
"Not surprising, seeing as many of them looked weak last viewing." Cinder coolly replies.
Many huntsmen and huntresses glared at the red clad woman. She paid them no mind.
"Well thank you very much Narrator, you're doing a wonderful job of explaining the total death count of this video game prison." Whitley commented dryly.
"Oh, WOW. What brilliant insight! It's so deep it loops right back around to being stupid." Shirou snarked.
"The Kid ranted at no one, it slowly dawning just how alone he truly was" Narrator continued..
Whitley's eyes narrowed, "Am I being sassed by the narrator?"
"Maybe you said something to piss them off." Fiona added.
"Wait, what was that?" Shirou asks, shocked.
"He asked the sky, like a preacher to his silent gods."
"What gods? What are you talking about?! It's all bullshit metaphors with you!"
"He cried, not knowing the difference between a simile and a metaphor. The tininess of his brain dwarfed only by the tininess of his di-"
Whitley's eyes narrowed and face twitched at how much of an annoyance this narrator was being.
Weiss was doing her best to conceal her smile but was failing and breathes out a laugh. She was enjoying the exchange that her brother was going through and found it amusing. Her team gave her a side glance while Fiona and a few others laughed at the roast session the young Schnee was being given.
"Narrator off." Shirou commands the system with an annoyed tone.
"YOUCANSILENCEMEBUTYOUCAN'TSILENCETHETRU-" The narrator got cut off.
"Dick."
"Thank gods that's over, that narrator was extremely rude." Whitley sighed thankfully now that the narrator was silenced.
Weiss and Fiona grumbled that their fun was ruined.
Fade into December 2, 2022, on a strategy meeting led by man called Diabel. He gave a big smiled out to the crow
"Hey everyone. Thank you all for coming to our little powwow. Now, I know many of you may be discouraged by the fact that 2000 people have died so far."
" WHAT?!" A player screamed
" 2000 PEOPLE ARE DEAD?!" Another screamed.
"IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN A MONTH YET!"
"OH MY GOD, WE REALLY ARE FUCKED!"
"Pretty much, sucks to be you!" Mercury laughed.
"These are the people that have to survive this game. Honestly what was blondie expecting," Emerald facepalms.
"Hey! Just because they've lost numbers doesn't mean that they have to lose hope!" Ruby glared at the two assassins.
"And I know even more of you are a little down because we haven't even cleared the First Floor yet." Diabel added, trying to keep the smile on his face.
"WE HAVEN'T?!"
"I THOUGHT WE WERE ALMOST DONE...!"
"You were saying." Cinder looked back at Ruby.
"Well…" Ruby trailed off, thinking of a way to defend these players.
Diabel's smile wavered
"Uh, you guys do know there are 100 Floors, right?"
"WHAT?!" A crowd of players yelled.
Diabels sighed a bit.
Ruby, despite her best attempts, also sighed and sat back down.
"Oh jeez, I am just making things worse. Point is, we found the Boss Room!"
The crowd gasps.
"Now, we've formulated a few strategies with some help from the beta testers-"
"BETA TESTERS?!" A voice yells out.
"Oh goddammit!" Diabel groaned argnily
A player named Kibaou jumps in.
Kibaou, what do you want? Diabel looked tired addressing this player.
"Beta testers? They're the reason we're stuck in this game!" Kibaoyu sneered
Many that heard this player's statement and quickly frowned at his blatant accusations towards these 'beta-testers.'
"This guy can't be serious, right?" Coco stated.
Dianel looked at Kibaou flatterausted at the stupidity of the statement he heard
"What?! Do you have any evidence to back that up?"
Kiabrou scoffed at the question. "Pfft! Evidence. I don't need no evidence. Isn't that right, Jesus?" He points to a player named "Jesus"
" It's pronounced "Hey-Zeus", and I don't know you."
"Wow, really selling your reasoning by having no one else to support your claim." Jaune stated while crossing his arms.
"Well, they still should have helped us newbies!" He exclaimed
"If I might interject...:" A deep voice called out.
A big muscular man gets up and comes to the stage.
Velvet taps Yatsu's arm excitedly, "Hey you're in this game too Yatsu! …oh gods you're in this game too."
"So it seems," Yatsu, doing his best to keep a straight face.
Coco lowered her shades along with a confused look. As far as she knew, Velvet was the only one who played video games on their team. Unless...
"And who the hell are you?!"
"I am known by many names.", "Closed eyed demon. The memory easer., "Hooked clawed tiger". But you? You may call me... "Velvet".
"Velvet huh? That's a... pretty masculine name." Kibaoru said adwarkley
"Shouldn't be. It's a woman's name." Velvet replied casually.
"Damn it. I had a feeling but I didn't want to be right." Coco cursed quietly while shaking her head.
"Wait, why would Yatsu have a character named after me? That doesn't- ...Oh ...oh my gods." Velvet's eyes widened at the implications, tears starting to build. That is until she felt a nudge on one of her shoulders. She turned her head and there was Yatsuhashi looking at Velvet with a gaze that said, 'It's not your fault.'
"Kay, I don't know how to talk to you."
"Good. Then you can shut up and listen. Does everyone here have this book in their inventory?"
" Yeah.
" Yes."
"Yup."
"Yeah."
" No... Wait, can I change my answer?"
Velvet/Yatsushi held up a book to show to everyone.
" This book is full of tips and strategies on how to survive this game, put together by the beta testers. Everyone read it, yet some people still died. The beta testers did everything they could."
"Yeah, that means Mace Hair has no reason to blame the beta testers!" Ruby points out.
Many of her friends nodded and Yastu's team smiled at the sound defense his alternate presented.
" Actually, I didn't read it." One player chimed up.
"Yeah, I didn't read it either."
"I skimmed it."
"OH COME ON!" Many members of the audience shouted in agitation.
"What? Didn't ANY of you read it?! It is literally a matter of life and death." Velvet exclaimed
"Well, dude. It's like 80 pages." A player pointed
"2000 people are dead!"
"THEY ARE?!"
"Again. These are the people that have to survive this game." Emerald reiterates.
Brief pause. Shirou looks shocked at their stupidity.
"I am so done with you people." Velvet mutters, walking off the stage.
" What do you mean "you people"?" A player asked a bit offended.
The Faunus in the room narrowed at their eyes at the implications made by that player.
"What do you mean, "you people"?" Fiona asks no one in particular.
Velvet and Kibaou take their seats.
Diabel continued with the meeting. "So, as Mister Hooked clawed tiger was saying, this book has some great strategies, including how to beat the First Boss, Illfang."
He clears his throat and starts reading from the guide.
"So as you enter the Boss Room, he's gonna throw wave after wave of disposable minions at you... and you must answer in kind."...?
"Uh, what?" A player asks, mirroring Diabel confusion.
Many in the audience reacted just as confused. All except Whitley, who had a good feeling where this was going.
Diabel continues
"Send the weaker players first. Good rule of thumb: If a player asks you for gold 2 seconds after meeting you, front lines."
"Ha, serves 'em right!" Kiaboru said with a laugh
"If they hijack conversations to rant about their political views, front lines."Diabel said with a smirk looking at Kiaboru.
Kibaou went pale. "Aw, shit."
"Ha! Serves you right!" Nora laughed.
"If they ask female players for pics of their boobs, front lines."
"OH BULLSHIT!" One player screamed out in rage.
"THAT'S DISCRIMINATION!" Another one howled.
"BOO!"
Many of the women in the theater frown at the way those players reacted. Winter was more than certain that those players were the type that participated in the mentioned acts the speaker spoke on.
Diabel smiles and waves them down. "Now, now, people. I think there are some valid points being made here. Now, it goes on to say when Illfang's health goes into the red, he's going to switch from his axe and buckler to something called a "Talwar". At that point we should initiate a strategy called "The Final Solution" and- I'm just gonna stop reading! Jesus, who wrote this thing?"
Shirou giggles evilly.
"Of course Whitley wrote that book." Weiss sighed.
"Why sister, it sounds like that didn't surprise you in the least." Whitley pretending to act hurt.
"Please. The manipulative tone of the text almost makes one sound too much like you." Weiss bit back.
"Well I suppose you would know." A wide smile on Whitley's face.
Weiss scoffs turning her head away from her traitorous brother.
Team R_BY and Winter watched the exchange and sighed.
"Okay, so the guide's a bust. But it'll be fine. I'll come up with a great plan for us." Diabel smiles at the crowed.
"Like what?"
" Well... we... could... Uh... Uhhhh... I'm open to suggestions."
"Woah, guys, we could- we could, you know, like, group up and-"
"And hit it 'til it DIES!" Another yelled finishing the other player sentence
"Woo, nice!"
"Yeah!"
" High five!"
The two hive five.
"Well. It's something, right?." Velvet does her best to be optimistic.
Many of the more experienced members of the theater shake their heads.
"That's... a good start. But let's hear some other suggestions."
"I'd like to hear more about this "Final Solution"." A player in a german accent piped up.
"Fuck it, group up." said Diabel said tirely.
Shirou slides down the seats towards a girl, named Fiona, who's on her own.
Fiona blinks in surprise, "Oh my gods, that's me! I'm in the game! Hey other me, stay away from the Schnee!"
"You have my condolences." Weiss says to the sheep faunus.
"So, why aren't, uh, you joining anyone's group?" Shirou asked.
"I have my reasons." She said mysterioly
" Is it because you're a girl?"
"No. It's because... I don't know how to play."
"Because you're a girl?"
Many of the females and males who enjoy video games, such as Yang, Ruby, Velvet, Nora,, Jaune, Oscar, Ren, surprisingly Mercury and Emerald, along with Fiona herself, threw questioning glares towards the current heir of the SDC. Weiss and Winter glared at him as well but for other reasons.
Whitley looks around to see all the glares directed towards him. "Why are you all looking at me? I said nothing."
"No!" Fiona snapped. "It's just... I don't know how to open the menu."
"What?" Both Fiona and Whitley asked.
"Jinx!" Nora shouts.
"What?!" Shriou looked at the girl in shock. "But you can't do anything in this game without the menu. How have you survived all month?"
Cut to Fiona holding a piece of bread. She is staring at it intensely. "HOW DO I EAT YOU?!" She screamed at it.
Many laughs were had at the poor girl's predicament, despite some of them doing their best to not do so but could not help themselves.
Fiona slowly sank into her chair, covering her face in shame. Her alternate was the utter definition of a newb player.
Back to the present.
"It's... been a challenge…" She muttered before looking at Shirou. "What about you? Why haven't you join the others?"
"Oh, lots of reasons. Mostly because they're a bunch of mouth-breathing neckbeards who think "LMAO" is how French people laugh."
" Ha ha, that's so Le Mao!" Said one player far away causing to Shirou shudder.
Whitley in the theater also shudders in disgust. If these were the people that he would have been surrounded by inside the game, then he too would have avoided them like a plague.
"Wow. You certainly... speak from the heart."
"Funny, I thought I was speaking from my mouth. But, eh, shows what I know about biology." He said with a smirk.
"No one else wanted you in their group, did they?"
"Shut up! It was mutual!"
"And who would blame me? Have you seen the players of this game? I'm honestly surprised they lived this long."
"You're just saying that 'cause no one wanted a smartass on their team." Fiona smirked.
"I'm sorry, were you speaking Menu Girl?" Whitley nonchalantly retorts.
Fiona's face grew red in embarrassment and agitation. She wanted nothing more than to raise her hand and activate her semblance right now. 'Give me a reason Schnee, I dare you.'
It cuts back to Diabel smiling and clapping his hands.
"Alright, looks like everyone's grouped up. Get plenty of rest tonight, people! We leave at noon!"
A player groans "Noon?"
"That's so early!"
Diabel sighs. "Alright. What about 1 o'clock?"
" Dude, come on!"
" God, fine! We leave at the crack of... 2:30, I guess. Lazy butts…"
"Christ, I'm gonna have to set my alarm."
Everyone in the theater did not have high expectations for these players as they would face their first challenge.
Cuts to December 3, 2022 Floor 1: Illfang's Tower, 7:30pm. Everyone's at the Boss Door and everyone except Diabel is exhausted.
"Okay, so there were a few more stairs than we realized. Apparently real life athletic ability translates into the game. Good to know." Diabel looked out to the sad sight in front of him.
"Oh, god. I can feel my lungs trying to kill me." One player whined.
" Is this sweat?!"
" I peed a little."
" Jesus, this is sad." Diabel said with a grimace.
One player vomits.
"Congrats Jaune, someone else has now become the new Vomit Boy of this viewing!" Yang exclaimed.
Jaune rolled his eyes at her attempt at making him feel better.
"Fuck it. Why don't you all just take a Cheetos and Mountain Dew break, and we'll reconvene in an hour."
1960 Batman-Esque transition with Cheetos and Mountain Dew.
" Dammit, guys! I was kidding! You weren't supposed to actually take an hour!" Dibal said in a rage."God, we've lost so much time. Let's just do this already! You all know the plan!"
Illfang jumps into the center of the room and roars. Kobolds pop in, and an error message pops up on the third one that says "Error: "Sentinel_ " not found."
Ruby and Nora laughed at the mob that got glitched.
"Alright, men!" Diabel began,"Form up and-"
"EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF!" A player screams
The armies converge on each other.
"Are they serious! You can't just go gung-ho in a boss battle!" Jaune exclaimed at the increasingly apparent, dim-witted players.
"What?! No! Goddammit guys!" Diabel begins to bark out orders. "Squad B, quit attacking the Boss and keep the Sentinels off us! C, D, stop attacking from the front! Do you even know what "flank" means?! Squad F, for fuck's sake! Stop playing Bejeweled! *Groans* Squad G, get in there and help A and B!"
"Got it!" Shirou said with a nod rushing in.
"Don't talk back to…" Diabel did a double take."l Holy shit, really?!"
"How is Whitley the most sensible minded player in this game?!" Weiss asked.
"Weiss, have you seen the other players?" Blake asked her in a deadpanned tone.
"...Yes you're right, that's actually too much of an insult." Weiss admits.
Shirou attacks a Sentinel, leaving Fiona to finish it off.
"Okay, Fiona! What you're gonna wanna do here is-"
Fiona lets out a Battle Cry and kills the Sentinel in one hit.
Fiona in the theater perked up at this display, "Oh my- I can fight! Oh thank gods I can fight!"
Shirou eyes widened in shock "Wow, I thought she was hopeless, but her technique is flawless. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she's even better than I-"
"Hey Shirou! I killed the thing and now it says I have XPs! Is that bad? Am I dying?! Fiona cried out to him in fear."
Shirou rolls his eyes"Or... maybe... not."
"Miss Fiona, either your alternate is very lucky or is very out of base with technology. I can't tell which it is." Whitley stated.
"Shut up Schnee, she's trying!" Fiona defends her other self.
Illfang's health drops into the red. He snarls at the players and he tosses his weapons.
"Alright, men! This last part's gonna take careful coordination…" Diabel ran towards Illfang. "which is why I'm just gonna do it myself!"
Diabel charges his weapon art. Illfang draws his Ōdachi.
Ruby's eyes widened, "OH NO!"
Shirou looked and saw the weapon and his eyes widened calling to Diabel. "Oh shit! Diabel, look out! That's not a Talwar! It's an Ōdachi!"
"What's the difference?!" Diabel ask still running towards Illfang.
"Well, a Talwar is of Indian descent while an Ōdachi is Japanese! While both are primarily slashing weapons, the Talwar was favored by cavalrymen, as opposed to an Ōdachi which was mainly used for dick measuring!" As Shirou is talking, Illfang starts jumping off the walls.
" What's your point?!" Diabel asked impaintely.
"Well if you let me finish, I was getting to that! You see…"
Diabel gets hit by Illfang, screaming in pain.
Many of the huntsmen and huntresses in the theater either gasped in fear or looked away at the surely doomed player.
"What's happening? Did I miss something?" Fox called out.
"Oops." Shirou sheepishly said.
Illfang hits Diabel again, sending him flying.
"DIABEL!" Kibaou yelled out.
Illfang pops down in front of Kibaou and roars. A message pops up "Bonus Item: Soiled Pants". Above Kibaou
"Hey, rare drop!' A player said cheerfully.
Mercury laughed at the joke while most of the others were disgusted by the fact that that achievement was unlockable.
Shirou runs over to Diabel and holds him up.
" I was trying to say an Ōdachi's a little bit longer than a Talwar, so it'll have more reach and do a bit more damage."
"And why couldn't you say that first?" Diabel asked weakly
"Yeah you dummy! You almost might've killed him!" Ruby cries out.
Whitley was actually taken aback by that statement. Sure he had moments of pride and arrogance, sometimes he looked down on people but he didn't believe he would ever intentionally kill someone.
" I like to think of myself as a teacher. Anyway, drink this."
Shirou tries to give Diabel a healing potion but he stopped Shirou shaking his head.
"No. It's better this way. I just can't do it anymore. I had such high hopes at first. But now? Our best player is a girl who thinks DPS is some kind of sex thing." Both turned to glance to Fiona.
"I know. It's weird, right?"
Fiona sulked more into her chair.
"You're clearly not like the rest of them. How do you stand it, Shirou? Where do you draw your strength?" Diabel look at Shirou like a sage.
Shirou sigh and drops his wisdom onto him. "I've been playing MMO's a long time, Diabel, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that lions do not concern himself with the opinions of sheep. Just take that little voice in your head that tells you to be tactful and understanding... and shoot it. Shoot it in the goddamn face."
" You are so wise. If only I'd met you sooner. Perhaps, things would have been different. You must lead them now. Show them this game can be beaten." Diabel let's go of Shirou wrist.
Weiss was taken aback that this man was actually willing to place trust in this alternate of her brother. This stranger who barely even knows him placed the lives of all the players into his hands. Much like how she tried to trust Whitley once… this caused a bitter frown to grow on her face in recollection. Even if this was a different version of him, it was still Whitley in her eyes.
Shirou smiles fondly at Diabel. "Another life... in another time... I think we could have been friends."
"I... doubt it." Diabel gasps out before turning to shattered glass, dying.
" Well fuck you, too!" Shirou said angrily his smile dropping into a frown.
Fiona slips in by Shirou's side and began to lay out a plan.
"Alright, Shirou. Here's what we'll do. One counters his blows to knock him off balance and the other switches in to attack. Rinse. Repeat. Victory."
Shirou looked at her with one eye. "You came up with that, but you can't open a menu."
"Shut up!" Fiona cried out.
Illfang roars and they take off running toward him.
"Alright, so you counter and I'll attack!" Shirou yelled to Fiona.
"What? No, it's my plan! I should attack!" Fiona yelled back.
"Fine, just get ready!"
Shirou makes a battle cry and counters Illfang's attack.
"SWITCH!"
Fiona moves in and gets her cloak destroyed by Illfang before attacking revealing white curly hair and sheep ears.
" See? You almost got yourself killed! I'll attack him!" Shirou yelled again and began to attack Illfang.
"Oh, that was a fluke, and you know it! He's mine!" Fiona yelled back.
Fiona attacks Illfang.
"Oh shit. They're actually giving that boss the work!" Coco called out.
"He's mine!" Shirou yelled.
Shirou blocks Illfang's next attack, but Fiona attacks him before Shirou can do so himself.:
"Mine!" Fiona screams
"NO! HE'S! MIIIIIIIIIIINE!"
Shirou slices Illfang and he explodes. Everyone is stunned. Lame party kazoo sound effect and a banner with the word "CONGRATULATION" appears.
"Yeah!" A player cheer.
This caused almost everyone in the audience to laugh. Despite the dark humor of it all, it was still pretty hilarious.
"What happened? Did they win?" Fox asks
"Oh yes, I'm sorry Fox! They beat the boss and a victory banner came out."
"...heh." Fox chuckled.
Shirou is panting. He gets an item as a reward for defeating the Boss.
"Congratulations!" Velvet said, patting him on the back. "That was even more impressive than that cat that learned to play."
Cut to a player with a cat's head, with another player staring at it.
"Meow."
"Huh what did you know?" Yang replied.
"Oh my god! You guys can see it too?! So I'm not crazy! Isn't that great, Jesus?!" We see things from the players' perceptive, with a giant hallucination of Jesus Christ looming over the crowd.
"That's right, Jeffrey. Now... kill them all." Jesus said, his voice growing darker.
"As you command, my Lord." Jeffrey whispered.
"Somethings very wrong with that guy." Qrow states.
"I honestly agree with you, Branwen… Blegh! That left a horrible taste in my mouth." Winter stated.
Cut back to Velvet talking to Shirou. The other players are applauding his victory.
"You've led us to victory, Shirou. These men and I will follow you to hell itself. Now... address your people." Velvet is smiling and pushing Shirou to the crowd.
Shirou gets up and smirks. "I always knew this day would come. Ahem. Fellow gamers! We have traveled far and up many stairs to get to this point. Fighting side by side, noobs, and leets, alike. I'd like to take a moment to say that I couldn't have done it without the help of each and every one of you."
"Aw, that's a nice thing to say-" Velvet was cut off when Shirou counties.
"Of course, I'm not a liar, so I'm not gonna say any of that."
"Oh shit."
"I thought as much." Weiss states.
Shirou grins look at the group. "I mean, really. I could've done this whole Boss Fight myself. But to be fair, I guess you did absorb a bit of damage for me, which was nice. You were an adequate meat shield, and no one can ever take that away from you."
"Fuck. Fuck! Shut up! SHUT UP!" Velvet started to say.
"So for those of you who came in late, and that one guy playing Bejeweled back there... shoot for the stars... it'll make it more fun when I kick you back into the dirt."
"You're not better than us!" Kiaboru said.
"Yeah! What makes you think you're so cool?!" Nora shouts to the screen.
Shirou equips the coat he got for beating Illfang and smugly looks at the group."My sweet-ass coat begs to differ."
"Dammit, he's got us there." one player muttered.
Shirou ascends the stairs out of the Boss Room. Fiona follows him and grabs him by the shoulder. "Shirou, wait!"
Those in the audience looked on at Fiona's alternate in hope. Surely she could turn him around after their excellent display of partnership.
"I want half." She said, staring at him blankly.
That hope was quickly squashed, shot at, and finally burned to death via gasoline and cracking a fire dust crystal.
Shirou turns to her confused. " I'm... sorry. What?!"
"I want half the coat. I did half the work, I should get half the coat." Fiona explain and extends her hand for him give it to her.
"No! It's not fabric I can cut! It's just a bunch of 1s and 0s!" Shirou was getting frustrated.
"Fine, then give me the 1s."
" Fuck you! I want the 1s!" He groans and open the menu. "I am not having this argument. I'm disolving this party." Shirou opens his menu and "Di-solves" their party.
"Shirou! If you walk away with my half of the coat, I will make your life a living hell!" Fiona screamed.
"You know what? Fine! I'll give you the damn coat! Just send me a trade request."
"A... what?"
Fiona's eyes widened as she watched from the theater, "No…"
Shirou grins viciously "Oh, it's quite simple really... Just open your menu." Shirou starts laughing maniacally as he walks out the doors as Fiona screams at him:"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" At him.
Outro Plays.
Fiona screams, "I can't believe the nerve of that-! GRAAAAH!"
"Can you please stop screaming! You're going to cause everyone's ears to bleed." Whitley said while using a handkerchief to rub his ears.
Fiona huffed then matched off, going to another place in the theater.
"Well that was interesting. So you all say there's other viewings where we see other worlds besides this one." Coco asked the group.
"Oh yeah, we've seen a couple worlds ourselves, but only a handful I'd say." Yang admits.
"Well as long as we're here, we might as well take time to catch up." Velvet smiled.
"Yeah, this will be great! It's almost like we're back at Beacon, right Weiss? ...Weiss?" Ruby looks beside her but noticed that her partner was not with them anymore.
In another side of the theater, the all three Schnee siblings stand together. Both of the youngest siblings look at Winter who brought them here.
Winter clears her throat, "I understand that there are some… tension between the three of us during this viewing. So I asked you both here so that we may come to terms with our situation."
Weiss scoffs, "Come to terms with him! I highly doubt that."
Whitley crosses his arms, "Yes it does seem like a lost cause Winter."
"Enough! Both of you!" Winter raised her voice causing both of her younger siblings to go rigid. "I'm not expecting you to get along or even apologize to each other at the moment. What I ask is if you two can at least act civil with one another while in the theater?"
Both Weiss and Whitley looked at each other and sneered at each other.
"Why of course I can be civil with Whitley. It is a virtue of a lady to be civil at all times." Weiss said with hidden venom.
"Quite true, but being civil is also a quality an heir of the Schnee family must cultivate as well. So I look forward to spending this immeasurable amount of time with you my sisters." Whitley said with his best presentable smile.
"Yes, how I enjoy us taking this time to reacquaint with each other." Weiss said while one of her eyes was twitching.
"Well then sister, shall we?" Whitley gestured for Weiss to go ahead of him. Almost would have been believable if one did not notice the glint in his eyes and his strained smile.
Winter watched as both Weiss and Whitley walked back to the auditorium where everyone else had remained.
"...This can only end badly."
Hope you enjoyed.

RWBY Volume 8 Chapter 10 Review/Remix
WHAT the ever loving FUCK was that just now RT?? You give us several great answers and scenes we really wanted to see, and then rip all that joy away in the last 3 minutes!!! I want to sue for emotional damages, but I really can’t be mad cuz it’s very masterful writing on their part. After years of shows doing redemption arcs we finally have it... the bastardization arc~
We open, perhaps to the disappointment of some, on Ironwood staring out the windows of his office at the battlefield and city in turmoil below. He’s being given a situation update on the destruction of the cellblock two episodes back, and he takes the news a little differently than might have been expected (read: worse). Jacques apparently stayed right where he was and let himself be put back into custody, while Qrow avoided much harm by being a bird and ending up in a spot where the rubble wasn’t landing directly on him. Robyn was only slightly lucky, she was under some large debris but doesn’t seem terribly hurt and is actually conscious when Atlas soldiers uncover her and say she’ll be moved to a new cell elsewhere. Qrow isn’t about to be put back in a cage though, and flies right at the soldier who finds him. Behind a conveniently placed piece of wall he turns back and, as I was somewhat praised for phrasing it in a discord chat, he tackled that man as a man. We can assume he knocks out the guy about to apprehend Robyn, and the two make a getaway. Ironwood doesn’t like this news one bit, though he focuses more on recapturing the two huntsmen he had arrested on paranoid treason charges than the actual war criminal he lost an arm catching whose dangerous work on the city of Mantle still hasn’t been undone. Not cool, dude. He yells at the soldiers who had come to report this, and they leave to try and find the jailbirds. He stares out the window again in contemplation and tries to calm down a little before turning on his earpiece to get an update on the status of some thing or another, probably the bomb, when something massive happens.
With a blinding flash and an array of gold and green, Oscar’s staff goes off with whatever he was charging up. It’s as bright and forceful as you’d expect a nuclear bomb to be, and it knocks Winter and the Ace Ops off their feet as they were heading towards Monstra lugging their own bomb. Weiss and Nora see it from Schnee Manor, and it seems to do a real number on the Grimm around Monstra and in the city. Rooster Teeth had to give a flashing lights warning at the start of the episode for those it would adversely affect, and I can totally understand why after the crazy display this gave us. When the light fades and the noise settles, Monstra has been snapped and is fading away to dust, and in that dust cloud we hear and barely see Neopolitan skipping away with the Lamp in hand. What a little punk... Winter gets back on her feet and is quick to ask her squad for their status, she doesn’t want to have lost anyone or suffered serious wounds from whatever the hell they just saw/felt. No one is hurt, though Elm’s ears seem to still be ringing. But Marrow is very distressed, realizing they still hadn’t heard back from Jaune and the others and they may have been killed in that blast. Nobody has anything to say that would appease him, so they stay silent. Vine tries to put a reassuring hand on Elm’s shoulder but she brushes him off. Guess after they got called out by Ren she wants to show even less emotion and sentimentality than before. Ironwood contacts them under the false assumption this was the result of their bomb, and requests they return to HQ for an update on the new problem he wants to deal with. Marrow naturally points out that the destruction wasn’t their doing, and Winter decides that will be news best delivered in person, so they load the bomb back on the airship and take off.
Cutting into the city, we see Watts and Cinder viewing the destruction of their mobile HQ from a distance. Nobody is returning Cinder’s calls but they know Salem will be back so Watts suggests they come up with a plan in the meantime. But Cinder is fully confident that they can still do what they originally intended, that being having her kill Penny and take the Winter Maiden powers after Watts brings the synthezoid to her. But this was a plan made under false assumptions, because apparently she misunderstood the terminology in his message and thought he could puppeteer Penny to go wherever he demands when really he just laid a new prime directive to send her straight to the Vault as we saw two episodes back. Hearing this pisses Cinder off immensely, especially the part about Penny being set to self destruct as soon as the Vault is open since that means the next recipient of the powers will be randomized again and she’ll have lost her chance to yoink them. Watts is too busy grumpily musing to himself about Penny having free will and a spirit that doesn’t want to succumb to his leet hacks to notice Cinder growing more and more enraged, until he turns around and she pulls him in close to yell at him. But Watts is having none of that, he works for Salem not her, and his plans weren’t made to give this flaming whining goth what she wants every single time. He’s just supposed to get the Vault open for Salem, and this is how he’s doing that. This is not the kind of answer Cinder wanted to hear, and she stretches her arm out to shove Watts to the edge of the roof and leave him on the verge of falling over to his demise. He doesn’t seem terribly fazed, calling her bluff and saying her mission was to bring him back and Salem won’t be a bit pleased if he dies. But you know what Salem is not? Here right now to stop Cinder from dealing with this arrogant self righteous prick once and for all. So she fully intends to drop him and then tear up Atlas on a fiery path to the Vault where she can intercept Penny and steal the Winter powers before tearing her to pieces herself and being the triumphant follower getting everything done that Salem really needed. And Watts just... laughs. Chris Sabat must have had a great time in the VO booth for this one, because he gets to have an absolute roast session the likes of which he hasn’t delivered since Majin Vegeta tore that clown Kakarot a new one. Naturally Cinder’s plan would be to brute force her way to victory and get glory for none but herself with her every whim satisfied along the way. Because that’s always her plan. And it always fails. She tried to storm Fria’s hospital room like that and got her ass handed to her by some teenagers and a dying woman before Penny took the powers before she could. She did the same damn thing 2 Volumes ago when she tried to massacre all her enemies under one roof in an alliance with a woman she thought she could outwit, but ended up blindsided by a surprise Maiden reveal and almost died while her outnumbered forces were on the verge of surrendering without her. And did anyone warn her not to do that? YES! WATTS DID!!! WATTS IS ALWAYS RIGHT, YOU FOOL!!! Well, okay, he’s really not. But he’s more clever and meticulous so he saw the flaws her arrogance left her blind to. And then Watts really tears into her by saying she isn’t smart, she isn’t worthy, and she isn’t entitled to what she wants because she’s suffered in the past. The one thing she is is a goddamn migraine. I’m a little mad Tyrian stole the show’s first cuss 4 years back cuz I really would have liked for Watts to cap this off by calling Cinder a bitch. This roasting literally lights a fire under Cinder and she seems ready to snap and kill Watts here and now, but instead she pulls him back onto the roof and stares off blankly into space before her fire fades and she walks off to sit on the ledge of a different side of the building to really think about his harsh words and shed a single tear. It’s a little unclear if she’s just feeling sorry for herself and realizing she’s more of a failure than she wanted to admit, or if she’s just overwhelmed by Watts reminding her of her childhood trauma. Maybe she’s realizing how powerless she’s truly remained all this time after fighting so hard for her own freedom and independence, and crying at the fact that she seems unable to escape that role she hates so much. Whatever the case, it’s real rough for her but I don’t feel like shedding any of my own tears for her sake. She doesn’t seem like she’s gonna change her allegiances so I don’t feel much need to cheer for her, but maybe she’ll reevaluate her strategy and become a force to be reckoned with as a villain because of this. I wouldn’t mind that. We’ll have to wait and see.
Back in the ruins of Monstra, we see Yang Ren and Jaune are all doing alright, and Oscar seems to be as well. Jaune is using his Semblance to help Oscar heal up quicker so that’s good to see too. Yang answers a call and sees Blake anxiously hoping she’ll pick up. The biggest smile comes to her face when she does, and the two halves of the group are ecstatic to hear the other is still alive and well. Neither are quite ready to tell the full tale of what they’ve been up to, but Weiss pulls up a map of the city and lays out a safe route through the subway tunnels that will take OYRJ straight to the mansion so they can actually reunite. Oscar isn’t about to leave Emerald behind though, and we see her knelt in the chaos holding out her hands as if hoping to catch some of the dust that was once her father figure. Yang is vocally against the idea of bringing Emerald with them, but Oscar advocates for her being every bit against Salem as them so the enemy of their enemy should be their friend. Emerald actually doesn’t seem to want to keep hanging around them and says they should just part ways, but Jaune isn’t about to let her walk free without facing any kind of justice for her past crimes. Ren thinks they need to be able to see past their emotional hang ups and consider the value in having her as an ally, and Yang is quick to remind them all that Emerald is part of the reason she lost her arm. Technically that is true, Adam was working with Cinder and if Yang hadn’t been framed as a brutal criminal she would have been around the rest of the team when everything popped off so maybe that first fight would have gone differently. But I do feel like it’s a bit of a stretch. Yang keeps going about why she can’t just forgive and forget when Em had been such a snake in the grass back at Beacon, but that’s not what Oscar is asking of her. He just wants her to try and give the girl a second chance to be better. He gets a little cryptic about how they’ve already gotten help from someone they haven’t had the best track record trusting, and Ren perfectly guesses he means that Oz has reemerged in his mind. This takes the blondes by surprise, and Oscar stands up for the old soul by saying he took the brunt of the beatings and told him how to impede Salem like he did just there. Turns out we’ll be finding out the secret of Ozpin’s cane today: It’s been made into a magical repository for kinetic energy stored over dozens of past lives to be made into a sort of bomb to set off when needed. I don’t know quite enough about physics to describe how exactly that would work, but it seems to make sense that it does. But the blast that took out Monstra used up the majority of what was in there so he can’t rely on it for that kind of attack again. It seems likely that was what Ozpin used against Cinder in the Beacon Vault, but didn’t use very much of it, and again what Oscar used to bust a hole in the bottom of the pit Ironwood shot him into. Oscar finishes making his case that Oz really does want to aid them, and the others seem convinced. What’s worth noting is that all eyes had been on him during this, but Emerald made no attempt to run away or even lower her hands. Guess she might really want to stick around after all... The moment is interrupted by the not so distant sound of a crying baby, and they all run further down the tunnel to find a subway station where the people of Atlas are taking shelter on Ironwood’s orders. Emerald starts to feel the weight of her action and those she used to side with, especially when she sees kids scared and hungry like she was before Cinder found her. They continue past the station on their way to the manor, and Oscar offers some encouragement to Emerald that they need her help in this war considering what she’s capable of. Considering the feats she performed under stress back in Volume 5, I’m inclined to agree.
We fade away from that scene to Ironwood’s office and the camera rises up the stairs as if being held by the Ace Ops as they and Winter come through the still broken doors to give their report to the general. He’s looking at multiple holographic screens projecting from his table: one with graphics telling him the status of all the airships mechs and soldiers, one pulling up news articles and any other info they can get on Monstra presumably for the purpose of cataloguing it in case they ever need to worry about another one, the third seems to be a map of city to monitor the damage so far, and the last is all the info they have on Cinder. He congratulates the team for their work destroying the Grimm, but Winter admits it wasn’t their bomb that did the job, they still have it intact for him. This confuses Ironwood greatly, but he sees an opportunity in this twist of fate. Penny hasn’t come to the Vault like he wanted her to be programmed to do, so he assumes Watts did a shit job of reprogramming her or just intentionally screwed them over. Yet the truth is something he can’t seem to imagine, she has free will and doesn’t want to do as she’s told. Who’s the real tool now Jimmy? He informs them that Cinder broke Watts out, and he seems to consider Qrow and Robyn escaping to be an even worse consequence. Harriet seems ready to sprint out of the room and haul them back here herself, but Ironwood stays her hand... or foot in this case. With Salem temporarily halted, now is the best time they’ve got for him to have the Winter Maiden open the Vault and use the Staff to lift Atlas higher than she can reach like he wanted so badly. So he wants Winter to bring him Yang Jaune and Ren. Winter doesn’t see the purpose of that, or she does and hates to imagine it’s truly what he intends, but either way she knows she can’t do what he’s asking. He plans to make full use of the lives they hold in their hands, and he’s going to use Jaune and the others as leverage to make Penny do what he says. He acts as if he’s actually proud of himself for realizing this is an option available to him, and I think it’s his Semblance that’s partially blinding him to the moral reasons why it should not be an option worth considering. Winter is left wilting under his unaware and proud gaze, and then Harriet pipes up to tattle on her commanding officer. Winter gave the kids a chance to try and rescue their friends from inside the whale(they don’t mention that friend was Oscar so he still doesn’t know the kid survived his attempted murder), and they weren’t seen exiting before it blew up. I want to say I’m shocked and disgusted that Harriet snitched on Winter just for the brownie points of being honest and taking Winter down a peg, but I’m really not. She’s been a loyal bootlicker since this time last Volume, and this feels like payback for that whole “I outrank you so you can’t stop me from giving them a chance” thing in chapter 7. Ironwood removes the proud and probably intended to be comforting hand he had placed on Winter’s shoulder, as if ashamed to be touching her after she let him down like this. This was his last plan for his definition of success, and now it’s ruined so he can’t do anything. In a fit of rage he smashes his table like the goddamn Hulk and the Ace Ops are left to watch and wonder just how in his right mind he actually is. As he tries to catch his breath, the general gets an urgent transmission that dozens of non-military aircraft have shown up on radar. I and probably a few dozen other people watching this hoped this was an Avengers Endgame moment of tons of allies coming to the rescue of the down and out heroes. But no, its the Schnee Dust Company ships Whitley sent out. Almost forgot about that plan, whoops. Ironwood immediately recognizes this as Weiss’ handiwork for the sake of saving Mantle, because nobody would have guessed Whitley would show some humanity and make this plan himself. Winter immediately shows attentive concern hearing her sister has done this, and Harriet gives her a look as if to say “you are such a bleeding heart for these little criminals...” Ironwood makes the very one dimensional assumption that everything Ruby and the others have been doing is simply to protect Mantle, as if they didn’t have a serious conversation with May about helping Atlas as well as Mantle 3 episodes back. With that knowledge in mind, he decides he needs to make a call.
Speaking of phones, Cinder gets a cheeky text and an accompanying selfie from Neo revealing she has the Lamp and she knows Salem will tear Cinder to pieces if she doesn’t bring it back to her. So she’s proposing a trade; Cinder gets the name to activate the Lamp, and in return she has to bring Neo to Ruby for the revenge she so deeply craves. Watts can’t see Cinder’s screen so he wonders who among their comrades has survived. Unclear if Cinder is going to tell him.
At last, we see Ruby throw open the front doors of Schnee Manor with Weiss and Blake flanking her, to see Yang and the others on the front steps. The sisters immediately embrace and Ruby sheds a tear of relief and joy that they’re all okay. Yang tells her she missed her too, and that seems to be that for the distrust and argument they had back in chapter 1. Ruby goes to greet the guys, and Yang gives Weiss a nice hug too. Then she sees Blake has taken a few steps away from the group and seems ashamed or embarrassed, unable to even look in their direction in Yang’s direction. Yang puts a hand to her cheek, her thumb softly stroking up and down as she turns Blake’s head to meet her gays gaze. Yang blushes and smiles, Bake returns the smile, and the two softly press their foreheads together. The intense sapphic energy of this deeply intimate moment was almost overwhelming, and many couldn’t help but adore it. I know I couldn’t stop myself from being a little giggly. Ren notices Nora isn’t there to greet them, and Weiss seems like she’s going to bring him up to her room and possibly even explain what happened along the way. Ruby takes this chance to go and greet Oscar with a hug, but stops short when she sees Emerald behind him. She seems real mad and is about to go on the attack, but Oscar steps between them and insists he can vouch for her, or maybe he’s saying he can explain? We don’t quite know because they get cut off by the sound of Ruby’s Scroll ringing. May is calling from the crater to say that the SDC freighters aren’t the only thing in the air right now, and she seems very panicked by what she sees. She yells for everyone to run into the mines for shelter, and an explosion is hear before the call is cut short. Before anyone has time to try and puzzle out what they just heard, a loud alarm tone goes off on all their Scrolls. It’s a fun detail that as a Faunus Blake covers her ears cuz the loud noise is especially bad for her. An emergency CCT broadcast is coming in for everyone in the kingdom, and Ruby magnifies her Scroll’s playing of it to be projected into the air for all of them to watch. The cargo ships are shown being shot down by military ships, and then the feed cuts to Ironwood standing ominously under a single light to deliver a downright villainous speech. He claims he has been trying his best to protect the technology and future of the kingdom from those who would do it harm, but I think it is VERY telling he never mentions protecting the people. Because that’s not what matters to him anymore. Not really. He says the only person stopping him from finishing his plans of making sure the currently crippled Salem can’t hurt them anymore is Penny. So he has an ultimatum for Penny and her friends, because he knows they will be listening right now. Either she turn herself over to him so he can have her do her “duty” and save as much of the Kingdom as possible and forget about trying to save Mantle, or he will nuke Mantle as punishment for her selfishness. The more he talks the more angry Ruby and the others get, and we are right there with them. He somehow thinks that if Mantle is destroyed then Penny will be free to only care about Atlas and its protection and will gladly work with him to do so. What a delusional bastard. And if anyone tries anything other than what he has said to do, he will use the bomb. 1 hour to decide how they will respond, and a hell of a lot riding on that choice.
There can be absolutely no question now, Ironwood will be the villain for the rest of the Volume and Salem will probably return at the end to ruin whatever hope putting him down will have raised in our heroes... And I’m kinda excited for how that’s gonna play out. Let’s see how team RWBY get out of this one~

This isn’t really much of a defense as it is just a acknowledgement of the difference: Oz NEVER planned on telling anyone anything, if a way to stop Salem cropped he’d have probably still never told anyone. Ruby, DID plan on telling people, just after they earned her trust. The reason this is still a criticism is because SHE SHOULD FUCKING TRUST IRONWOOD.
Asking this to the fandom as an honest question: when do we learn that Ozpin never planned to tell anyone? To my recollection he doesn’t say that (and I admit completely it’s just my recollection, I could be forgetting something), but rather he says instead:
“Do you really think Leo was the first? That he didn’t say those exact same words to me? I’m sorry, but you have to understand that my behaviors are backed by experience. I’m not saying that I have reason to think you will betray me. I’m saying that I have reasons for the things that I do. The secrets I keep. I--”
(This is a speech that the group - and via them the audience - never has to grapple with because Ozpin realizes in this moment that the relic is gone, moving the conversation away from his defense and towards Ruby’s refusal to give it back/Oscar forcibly taking Jinn’s name.)
Saying, “My experience means that I have good reason not to spill these secrets carelessly” is not the same thing as “I never plan on telling them to anyone.” This is, in fact, the exact same reasoning that Ruby adopts: I plan to tell you things after you’ve earned my trust. Ozpin admits here that Team RWBY doesn’t have his trust yet. Not because they as individuals have done something to lessen that (though I’d argue that the group’s overall attitude makes trusting them justifiably difficult), but rather that platitudes - “You can trust us!” - have proven to be meaningless throughout Ozpin’s lifetime: “Do you really think Leo was the first? That he didn’t say those exact same words to me?” Here, Ozpin is in the same place with Team RWBY as Ruby was with Ironwood for weeks on end. I simply don’t trust you yet and you’ll just have to wait until I do. (Even though, as you say, Color2wheel, Ironwood had actions to prove his trust whereas Team RWBY just has those platitudes...)
The only “proof” I’ve heard in the fandom that Ozpin never intended to tell them about Salem is the fact that Qrow doesn’t know about her yet. The logic goes, “Well if Qrow doesn’t know after years and years of working with Ozpin then obviously he doesn’t plan to ever tell him at all.” It sounds damning on the surface but what this argument fails to take into account is what Ozpin himself points out, that his behaviors are “backed by experience.” Or, to put it more bluntly, this argument fails to take trauma into account.
Ozpin is grappling with trauma that, thus far, no other character has had to try and overcome.
Ruby actually gives us a good baseline. We can think of her trust as akin to an equation:
Being betrayed by one person (Ozpin) + encountering an ally who is doing everything possible to demonstrate trust (Ironwood) = needed a couple weeks in order to trust them.
Ozpin’s equation is more like:
Being betrayed by an unknowable number of people across a thousand years (Raven, Lionheart, and Team RWBY most recently) + encountering allies who do things that demonstrate that trusting them may be quite a risk (Qrow is called out for not being a reliable spy and is emotionally very fragile, Ironwood disagrees with Ozpin’s methods, Team RWBY is constantly pissed at him, etc.) = needing....?
How long does it take to trust again after all that? After a thousand years of people not just hurting you when they learn this secret (abandoning you for Salem, trying to kidnap you, kill you) but also hurting themselves as well (Qrow falls into an alcoholic stupor and only comes out of it when his niece threatens to leave him behind)? If Ruby’s experiences as a 17yo with (at most) two years experience outside the safety of Patch/Beacon means it took her weeks to trust again, how many years does it take someone who has been through as much as Ozpin? Probably the number of years that Qrow has been trustworthy “enough” to learn this secret but hasn’t. Needing more time to trust again because you’ve been traumatized by trusting others isn’t comparable to not trusting because you’re a bad person and you just didn’t want to. “Not now” doesn’t mean “never” and “I currently can’t” is not the same thing as “I won’t.” In addition, none of this takes into account that Ozpin kept silent during a time of peace when telling people (arguably) wasn’t necessary, whereas Ruby kept silent during a time of war when she knew Ironwood was putting time and resources towards a doomed plan. Those are radically different situations, even removing Ozpin’s trauma.
In the interest of boiling complex stuff down into more easily understood examples, let’s talk about another kind of trauma for just a moment. Something simpler, straight forward, and generally more accepted: a fear of dogs.
Ruby: I was bitten by a dog once. I wasn’t the worst bite in the world but it still effected me. Now I’ve met this other dog and he’s... kind of scary. Big. Looks mean. Barks a lot. I get intellectually that the dog isn’t attacking me and is showing that he will sit quietly if I were to approach... but I can’t bring myself to pet the dog yet. I need time.
The Story: Entirely understandable.
Ozpin: I’ve yet to have a good experience with a dog. I’ve been bitten by them throughout my whole life - which is over fifty times the length of Ruby’s. These bites have left scars. I’ve been mauled by dogs before. I’ve had people set their dogs on me. I get intellectually that all dogs aren’t bad, but it’s incredibly hard for me to pet any at this point, even those whose owners insist that they’d never, ever hurt me. I’ve heard those same words right before I was bit again...
The Story: Hmm. Seems suspicious.
Ruby: Okay! I’ve spent weeks with this specific dog now and you know what? I’m ready to pet him. I’m emotionally in that place now. There. I did it! Aren’t you proud of me?
The Story: We are! Wow that was so well done. You are such a good person for petting that dog and I’m sure your ability to do so is based entirely on your morality and has nothing to do with your individual experiences.
Ozpin: No, I still haven’t pet any dogs yet. I’m not ready.
The Story: Well Ruby pet one.
Ozpin: Forgive me, but Ruby had one bad experience with a dog. She’s been surrounded by other supportive, happy, loyal, gentle dogs her whole life! Has any dog ever tried to kill Ruby? I feel like that would have a bearing on how quickly she starts interacting with them again...
The Story: Nope. She’s just better than you.
Now replace all “petting dogs again” with “trusting someone with this secret again.” Before I condemn Ozpin and uphold Ruby, I’d like to see a version of Ruby Rose who went through even a fraction of what Ozpin has been through regarding trust, secrets, and absolutely horrific betrayal. Give me a Ruby who has told people the Salem secret and they leave her, attack her, try to kidnap her, kill her, deny her support, grow to hate her... and then lets see if it still “only” takes a few weeks to spill it again. Give me a Ruby who has to suffer through Blake abandoning her, or Weiss joining up with Salem, or Jaune trying to kidnap her to ensure his own safety and then we can start praising her if she trusts quickly after all that.
For me, it has never been established that Ozpin would have never told his allies this secret, only that his experiences mean he needs more than the average person to take that risk. I actually think having a Salem plan would have made all the difference. Reassuring someone that there won’t be repercussions for the awful thing they just heard is a great way to ensure they aren’t nearly as angry as they might have been:
Person A: I... accidentally left the gate open and the dog got out.
Person B: You what?
Person A: But don’t worry! I’ve already got a plan to get him back. Everything is fine!
Person B: It’s a damn good thing.
vs.
Person A: I... accidentally left the gate open and the dog got out.
Person B: You what? Well how are you getting him back?
Person A: I haven’t figured that out yet...
Person B: What the hell is wrong with you?
People like easy solutions to hard problems. It’s the first thing Ruby asks: We just learned that Salem is immortal and we know you’ve failed to get rid of her for a thousand years...but you have a plan to fix this in our lifetime, right? We don’t have to deal with this awful immortality business because you’ve figured out how to fix everything for us, right? And when Ozpin admits that he doesn’t have that solution fury gets the better of them. He’s punched into that tree. They drive him away. If Ozpin had been able to say, “Don’t worry! It doesn’t matter if Salem is immortal because I’ve found a way to circumvent that immortality! This reveal will have no negative impact on you moving forward,” we would have gotten a very different conversation. And very different actions on Ozpin’s part throughout his life. The whole reason he keeps Salem’s immortality to himself is because he has no way to circumvent it. He doesn’t want to tell people that this fight is (currently) impossible because that is what leads to them giving up/joining Salem/taking their fear out on him. There’s no longer a reason to keep her immortality a secret if the immortality is circumventable. A plan would have removed at least some of Ozpin’s (justified) fears. People aren’t going to attack him if he can easily fix this problem for them. If he can’t fix it? Well, then you’re disposable. We’re going to leave you for someone more powerful (Salem) or just cut you out of our life completely (Team RWBY).
What it comes down to is that Ruby’s experiences and Ozpin’s experiences simply aren’t comparable. It’s something he says outright in the story - “you have to understand that my behaviors are backed by experience” - but moving forward RWBY has chosen to ignore that. The man who has spent a thousand years being traumatized by trust going sideways can’t compare to the teen with just a spattering of experience under her belt trusting for the second time. Ozpin was Ruby at one point. There was a time when he trusted a second time and he didn’t get an Ironwood who sat calmly and accepted the news with such grace. So what proof do we have that without being so lucky (without a narrative that ensures Ruby comes out on top) Ruby wouldn’t have become Ozpin in time? There’s nothing intrinsic in Ruby that makes her a better person who is more able to trust others. It’s entirely that her experiences haven’t (yet) led to trust being a trigger for abandonment and assault. Ruby is just an Ozpin in the making because anyone can struggle due to trauma - even a “simple soul.” It’s a crucial difference and, frankly, I think RWBY has failed not to acknowledge it.

Reaction to RWBY v8c3, “Strings”
Okay. Our heroes are variously in prison, in pneumatic tubes, in peril, and in pursuit. This'll be pleasant.
Opening: I no longer think that Qrow-and-Harriet grouping means they're going to interact positively. They're both devastated by Clover's death but will deal with it in completely opposite, violent ways.
I don't know if Penny is going to get hacked but that mirror imagery signals something bad. Don't die on us again please...
Weiss' hmm of agreement with Blake was very muted, and she was completely silent in chiding Nora. Not exhaustion, I don't think; it's more that she's being reserved and withdrawn. Something's going on there.
You go, Penny. (But the enhanced through-all-walls vision would be creepy and dangerous in anyone less wholesome.)
And we get a tiny bit of perspective from the ordinary Atlas soldier, completely in the dark and waiting to be sent out to fight and die. ouch.
Hah! Maybe Penny just hacked it, but I like the idea that the security checkpoint uses Aura, the natural go-to for uniquely identifying people in this world. And of course she has her father's Aura.
We keep seeing that short ponytailed officer! I will be very amused if one of these times it turns out to be Neo again.
Ruby's Semblance works like a Star Trek teleporter? Cool. As long as it never goes wrong. What's that Hitchhiker's Guide song? I teleported home one night with Ron and Sid and Meg. Ron stole Maggie's heart away and I got Sidney's leg...
Ironwood you MORON. I should have known there was no stupidity the writers wouldn't make you stoop to. Watts really IS going to hack Penny, and the Amity broadcast too. Ugh. Ugh!
Nora's true power is to weaponize slapstick. I see it all now. (And I'm mostly not joking. It lets her think outside the box nicely.)
That POSTER. Poor Bill, though, I can absolutely relate as an oblivious person.
Ruby struggled to carry Penny in v2, she was up to smoothly carrying Weiss in v6, and now suddenly she can carry 5 people. The power of plot...and all that training in v7, I suppose.
4 people. Where is May? Probably heading to the hangar to get their escape ready.
Pietro is remoting in. I guess Penny is just PuTTy in his hands. (computer nerd joke)
Some very open self-insight! She's struggling, but she's handling this so much better than Ren because Nora doesn't do denial. I'm confident she will find her balance this volume. Him, maybe not.
Yes, thank you! They're finally considering the importance of getting Penny the fuck away from Salem! Although...um, what are Pietro and Maria going to do stuck up in orbit? If something's high enough to be a satellite, doesn't that mean it's above the oxygen layer? And even if they handwave air, food and water, won't they need to get down somehow eventually? ...Is this going to be a suicide mission for the oldsters? Now I have even more fears. And for Penny, too. She could be left on Amity indefinitely as a sentinel, with only these few brief memories of having friends.
Yeep!
Wow, Harriet said Penny's name with real contempt.
And Ruby has realized that opening the vault themselves makes the staff infinitely more vulnerable. I really wish these basic tactical facts had been acknowledged last volume, but it's still good to have them said now.
oooh, you done fucked up, Harriet. She picked a needless fight with a Maiden and she has no idea what that means.
Holy crap, they won? It's true Penny has no Maiden training, and her combat training has mostly been aimed towards Grimm. Whereas the Ace Ops have years of group-maneuver training specifically against other people. Forrest was right, they're Ironwood's attack dogs - not Hunters, licenses or no.
When you put an electric door over the mantlepiece in act one, you've got to have Thor go through it by act three. It's a rule of drama.
We're...never going to get Penny back after this, are we. She's going to get hacked and then she's going to die for real, or best case be stuck on Amity. Or even be absorbed into it as an AI, abandoning her hacked body. And the Maiden power will go to...Nora?
This is so depressing.

Title: in the quiet
Fandom: RWBY
Synopsis: The group has saved Atlas and is en route to Vacuo, but with the danger now behind them, other troubles finally catch up.
(Or: in which Oz struggles with this whole ‘trusting’ business, Oscar does damage control, and Ruby fights name formality. Change is all in the little steps.)
AO3 Link is here.
.
It’s almost funny, how it all ends— after everything, after all the fighting and the screaming and the dying, they leave Atlas behind them in silence.
Not quite a victory. Not quite defeat. They’ve lost more than they could ever afford to lose, but they haven’t fallen— the city in the sky, still sitting there among the clouds; Mantle, gutted but breathing, still surviving, finally safe. They leave the city behind in a lone airship that barely fits the lot of them, Penny as their newest addition, and when Oscar takes his seat beside Nora, head pillowed against her arm, he and Oz pass out almost at exactly the same time. It’s quiet. It’s done. It’s finally okay for them to rest.
For now.
It’s the hum of the airship that finally awakens Oz, hours later, when Atlas is gone from view and only the sky shows out their windows. His head aches— or rather, their head aches— and Oz pries open their eyes with a muted wince, leaning away from a snoring Nora Valkyrie, sitting up against the wall.
He blinks, slowly, looking out over their group. Maria is still at the helm— eyes fixed on the windshield, and when she glances back at him she gives only the barest of nods and then turns back to the controls. The rest of the group is dead to the world, clustered on the floor and leaning against one another, so deeply asleep it almost disturbs him. If he couldn’t hear their breathing…
Oz shakes the thought away, inhaling sharply, a little more awake now. In the back of their mind, Oscar is quiet, awake but not really aware, half-way dead and dozing to the world. He’s not quite asleep, but… Oz lets him rest. He knows this is as close as Oscar will get to sleep without tempting nightmares, and in this, they are in full agreement: neither of them wants nightmares right now. Neither of them is ready to face what monstrosities will arise from the mix of Oscar’s fears and Oz’s horror trove of memories. It has been a long, terrible week.
And it is over, Oz reminds himself, a constant mantra. It has been a long, awful week, but it is over. Salem has been diverted, at least for now; Atlas still stands, and so too does Mantle. And James…
Oz closes their eyes. No, he decides. He won’t think about that. Not yet, at any rate. It’s not the time, as Oscar likes to say, whenever too many problems pile on at once. Oz is trying to reassure himself. The task is done. He is alive, and so are all the others. They have done the best they could, and now they are finally leaving Atlas behind them.
It’s fine. Everything is… just fine.
What…?
Oh, damn it all.
Oz drifts back, irritated with himself, and it is Oscar who blinks open their eyes and squints into the dark. The boy’s mind is blurry with exhaustion— but he is, unfortunately, awake.
I’m sorry, Oz offers, biting back a sigh. So much for letting the boy rest. I didn’t mean to wake you.
Oscar hums, seemingly unbothered; he leans back against the wall and yawns into his hands. “It’s fine. You didn’t, really. And I don’t know if what I was doing even counts as sleeping…” His voice is quiet, barely a mumble. Oscar presses his palms against his eyes. “Felt more like my brain just died.”
Across the airship, a quiet giggle. “Oh, like passing out?”
Surprise flickers through them both. Oscar blinks and turns. “...Ruby?”
On the other side of the airship, sitting beside Penny Polendina and Weiss Schnee, Ruby Rose gives a small wave in reply. Her smile is a flash in the dark. She looks almost half-asleep— as bleary-eyed as Oscar, but less dazed. Had she been awake this whole time? The thought startles Oz. He hadn’t noticed.
“Morning!” Her head tilts. She looks momentarily sheepish. “Whoops, did I startle you?”
“A little,” Oscar whispers back, but he’s smiling too. Then the boy blinks, and Oz can feel his thoughts stall. “Wait, it’s morning?”
“Uh…”
The children both turn to look out the windows. Beyond the scraped glass of the airship porthole, the sky is dark and star-lit, heavy swaths of shadowy clouds wisping by. The moon is entirely hidden behind the fog. Oz, for one, cannot tell the time at all.
“I have no idea,” is what Oscar says.
Ruby Rose giggles at that, quiet agreement. From the controls, in a whisper that is both amused and warning, Maria says, “It’s three A.M. It’s not anything.”
“Ohhhh,” Ruby Rose says agreeably, in a hushed and self-assured whisper under her breath. “Void time.”
...Oz cannot exactly argue with that.
Oscar snorts, then chokes, stifling his giggle in his elbow. Ruby Rose grins at him and stands up, gingerly prying away from Penny Polendina’s death grip on her arm and slipping past the sleeping and unmoving bodies of the others to settle next to Oscar on the seats. On his other side, Nora Valkyrie scoffs in her sleep and slumps. Oscar and Ruby Rose share a grin. She elbows him lightly. “You couldn’t sleep either?”
“Kind of. Oz woke up first, and then…”
Oz winces.
“It doesn’t matter,” Oscar informs him, still quiet. “I wasn’t… like I said. Didn’t really feel like sleeping. Just—” He sighs. “I don’t know. Everything feels slow, right now.”
“Like a shroud,” Ruby Rose agrees, but she sounds a little more subdued, and she draws her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around her legs. She looks out over the others, and Oscar looks too; Oz peers through their eyes briefly, if only to quiet the nagging worry at his chest. The others are all quiet, all seemingly asleep—or close to it—and no one seems in pain from their lingering injuries, at any rate, and even Qrow seems a little more restful than before…
Oscar must catch on to his train of thought, because his gaze fixes on Qrow too. He frowns, thoughtful. “Hey, Ruby. Do you think…?”
She looks at Qrow too. For a moment she seems confused— but then her eyes linger on her uncle, and understanding dawns. She bites her lip, and for a moment her eyes seem shadowed, too old for her face.
“I don’t know,” Ruby Rose says, a whisper drawn thin and quiet. “I mean… I think he’ll be okay? He’s been… um, worse. Before. So this isn’t really so bad, in comparison.” She folds into herself, and rubs at her arms, as though cold. Her lips press. “But— that kind of makes it hurt more, though.”
Oscar blinks. Oz too is puzzled. “What do you…?”
“It’s weird, but… I feel like he almost expected this to happen,” she confesses to Oscar, and her voice is so low they have to strain to hear her. “M-maybe, um, maybe not Clover dying like that, but like he was waiting for…”
“The disappointment?”
Her voice is very hushed. “The loss.”
“Oh,” Oscar says, quietly. The boy seems at a loss what to say; his eyes turn down, lips pressed tight. He leans against Ruby gingerly, and she looks away from Qrow for just a moment, smiling weakly, looking grateful.
Oz is distant, though, and aching, and something about it all curdles in his chest. He’s been worse. But Oz—Oz cannot remember a time when Qrow was quite like this, not even after Raven left and Summer died. Qrow has been grief-stricken before, yes, but not this resigned to it. In a way it is a relief—that Qrow has turned to anger instead of breaking, that he has chosen to keep moving forward despite it all. But that Oz has no idea when this choice took place, that he, apparently, wasn’t there for it…
Oz is not blind to the implications. The memory rises in him, sharp as bile. Meeting you was the worst luck of my life.
Yes. Yes, Qrow has been worse, hasn’t he? He’s—been through worse. Of course he has learned. Of course he was ready for it. Oz’s lies had likely taught him very well how to deal with crushing disappointment.
It is not the first time Oz has been confronted with the aftereffects of his actions, his choices; in all the thousands of years he’s lived, he’s had to face his own faults again and again and again. But it never gets any easier. It never hurts any less. Everything he has done, everything he has learned, all these lives, and still—Oz could not even do this right. Still, he seems to have learned nothing at all… or, perhaps, he learned the wrong lesson.
But even now, Oz doesn’t know where it all went wrong. He doesn’t know what he could have done differently— can’t even imagine it. There are no easy answers to any of this. There’s no clear path for what Oz should have done, only the knowledge that what he did end up doing was wrong.
And it galls at him. It gnaws at him. It is a doubt that had festered in Atlas and now grows with every passing minute of peace, with every second he has to finally think, and see the situation in full. The thoughts are many, and they are spinning. Is this— what Oz is doing now, this new approach— the right choice? The right path to take? Can Oz be sure? Can he afford to be wrong? And if he is wrong, again, then—
“Stop,” Oscar says, suddenly, and Oz snaps back to awareness. His train of thought cuts off, and for a moment Oz is nowhere, nothing, blank and startled by the interruption. The boy has opened his eyes again; Oscar is frowning up at the ceiling, brow furrowed. “There’s no use regretting what can’t be changed,” Oscar says, under his breath. “You— we just need to try better, next time.”
Oz is silent for a long moment. He struggles to regain his bearings, gathering up the edges of his spiraling thoughts. I… did not mean for you to hear all that.
“I didn’t. Not really. But this thing goes both ways, doesn’t it?” Oscar touches briefly over his heart. “I can feel you panicking.”
Well, Oz considers. Fuck.
Ruby Rose nudges Oscar with her elbow, looking a little alarmed. “Are you… no, is he…?”
“Dunno. It’s just loud.” He pauses. “Oz?”
Oz feels like sighing. He reaches out, almost, a sort of mental gesture, and Oscar frowns up at the ceiling and then goes distant, falling back. Oz slips into control with a sharp breath and a hiss through their teeth, and sits up straight, adjusting. The battle in Atlas has left bruises on Oscar and Oz both, and he rolls out their wrist as the pain filters through, waiting to adjust to the sharp sting of their healing wounds.
“I am fine,” he says, once he’s settled, and links their hands as he leans back against the airship wall, missing his old chair. The downside of traveling by airship is that there is nowhere comfortable to sit. “Just… thinking.”
Ruby Rose blinks at their switch but doesn’t much react beyond leaning back to give Oz his space. She tilts her head. “…Good,” she says, though she doesn’t look like she believes him. Curse Oscar’s open honesty; anything Oz says now will be taken as a front now that she’s already had confirmation he was spiraling. “Um… do you wanna talk about it?”
Ha, ha. “No.”
“I mean, you don’t have to talk to me, that might be weird. Maria! Maria’s like, almost your age. You could talk to Maria.”
In the back of their mind, Oscar is choking on a laugh.
Oz closes their eyes. “Thank you, Miss Rose,” he says, dryly. If nothing else, this absolute mess of a conversation is serving as a lovely distraction. “But please, I beg of you— can we not?”
She grins. “But—”
He gives her a look.
“Right, right, dropping it.”
“Hm.” He doubts it. She is friends with Nora Valkyrie, after all; this is going to come up again, he thinks, and once more at his expense. That Oscar is their friend has apparently given all the teenagers free rein to tease Oz as well, and he has no idea what to do about it. (And will also never, ever admit that he finds it funny.) “I’m sure.”
She snickers, but is quick to muffle it, though she’s still smiling when she lowers her hand. “Why do you do that, anyway?”
Oz blinks. Oscar, in the back of their mind, gives an impression like tilting his head. “Hm?”
“Miss Rose,” she mimics. “Mister Arc, Miss Valkyrie…”
“It’s polite,” Oz says, wry.
“Well, yeah, but it feels kind of…” She makes a motion with her hand, then frowns. “I dunno.”
I’ve noticed that too. Oscar sounds thoughtful. When Oz turns his attention inward, surprised, the boy almost seems to start. Well, you do it a lot. You always refer to people with their full names when we talk, or with the titles. Even with the others! Well, not Qrow, but everyone else…
“…I have honestly never thought much about it,” Oz says, a little thrown by the observation. “Truly, no harm is meant.”
Ruby Rose shrugs. “Well, you can just call me Ruby, if you want! Miss Rose is… yech.”
“…Hm.”
“Oh, you’re making a face. Never mind.”
Oz winces, turning their head away, and waves a hand. “No, no,” he says, just barely remembering to keep their voice low. If the others start waking up, this really will become just… too much for words. “I simply—”
He stops, uncharacteristically frustrated. He doesn’t really have the words to explain it, and doesn’t really understand it himself. He had not always been so strict on formality, but after Ozpin’s death… and he has done this for a very long time. It is a lingering echo from a bygone era, the time of fairytales and magic; names had power then, and Ozma had known that well. And Oz cannot deny there’s a comfort in it all, in the formality, in the distance. The separation.
But then. If he thinks about it like that… Oz understands a little of where Oscar and Ruby Rose are coming from, too. Because the distance is comforting, but… perhaps that was always the problem. The distance. Can they trust him at all if they don’t know him?
Oscar speaks slow and thoughtful. Can they betray you if you don’t know them?
Oz takes a moment to remember how to breathe. “That’s—”
Sorry. Sorry. I… I didn’t mean it as an accusation. Just a thought.
Still. The words have hit hard. Oz exhales slowly through their teeth, wrestling with his composure, and when he turns back to Ruby Rose—to Ruby— his expression is steady even if their hands still tremble.
“No,” Oz says, finally, with difficulty. He gives in to temptation, and reaches for their cane; turns it in their hands without extending it, drawing strength from the weight of it in their palms. “No, you’re probably right. By this time—after all this time— perhaps it is odd.” Something in him steadies, settles. “I will… attempt differently.”
Ruby still looks worried. “S-sorry,” she says. “I didn’t mean—um, to upset you, I was just wondering—”
“It’s fine.”
“But—”
“I know,” he says gently. “And it is all right. I… I have been reflecting on a lot, these past few days. Weeks. ...Months. And old habits make new troubles seem easier.” He turns the cane again in their hands, tracing gloved fingers over the engravings. “But not all old habits are worth keeping.”
Besides. Oz has promised them— promised Oscar, especially— to do differently. To try. Maybe he doesn’t know where he went wrong before— what he could have changed, what he should have done… but Oz can do this. He can change. He can speak to them as equals, as people fighting the same war he is, as allies and friends and students. He can trust them. Or at the very least, he can try to.
“I… I guess so…” Ruby searches their face. “Are you sure?”
He almost smiles. Her concern is unneeded, but her kindness is appreciated. “Yes,” Oz assures. He taps the cane with a finger, thoughtful. “Besides. It will probably serve as a welcome distraction, Mis—”
Ruby.
“— hm.”
This, at least, gets the girl to grin. “Uh… you’ll get it eventually?”
“My point exactly,” Oz murmurs. The weight in the air has lifted— some of the darkness gone with this choice, with the echo of laughter— and when Oz steps back out of control again he goes with some measure of peace, and Oscar sighs in relief as he blinks his eyes open. When Ruby gives him a questioning look, the boy shrugs one shoulder and gives a crooked smile.
“We’ll be fine.”
She blows out a heavy breath. “Good!”
“Finally,” says Maria, from up front. Both Oscar and Ruby jump. “Talk talk talk, yeesh. It’s three in the morning! We should all be asleep!”
“Maria, you can’t go to sleep, you’re driving the plane.”
“Rub it in, why don’t you.” She glances back at them. “But honestly, children. And disembodied wizard, I suppose. We got out! Atlas is behind us.” She turns back to the controls. “Rest, all of you. Things will be better in the morning. We’ll talk about everything then, when we’ve got our heads on straight.”
There’s a pause. Ruby blinks back to coherence first. “Uh… yes, ma’am.”
She is right, you know. Nightmares or not, we do need to sleep.
“You’re the one who woke me up,” Oscar says, without heat. He rolls his eyes and offers Ruby a smile. “Good night, I guess?”
“I still think it’s technically morning…” But Ruby slips to her feet and heads back to her previous spot, eyes a little brighter. She nudges Qrow’s foot as she passes, and giggles when he shifts.
How funny these children are, Oz thinks. How resilient. He had always known they had potential, but… for all that they have been drawn into this war, he cannot help but be forever thankful they haven’t yet lost their spark because of it.
He has done so many things wrong, in these thousands of years. But if Oscar can still smile, and Ruby Rose can still play tricks— if all of these children can laugh despite everything they’ve faced— then perhaps Oz has done some things right after all.
Perhaps he can continue to.
The hum of the airship that first woke him drones soft and constant. Oscar is already out. Ruby is silent again. The quiet darkness of the airship presses against him, but this time it feels almost comforting rather than stifling. If Oz listens, he can hear the soft exhale of their breaths. The children. Qrow. All alive. Hurting, yes… but still in one piece.
And this time, when Oz fades out into sleep, it is almost with a smile.

Monochrome idea (slightly canon divergent at the beginning, then VERY canon divergent as we progress into the thing because basically Watts doesn’t do shit after Jacques’s election so our girls don’t have to deal with that) :
Weiss and Blake are in the Schnee family mansion because boring meeting with Jacques and Ironwood or whatever and they’re walking down one of the many hallways, looking at the portraits and all that. Weiss casually mentions how Jacques has cameras in every hallway for “security reasons” (but he actually just always wanted to know where his children were and what they were doing) and will surely make snide remarks when they come back if they so much as breath the wrong way. This gives Blake an idea.
She takes Weiss’ hand to make her stop walking, then when Weiss turns to look at her Blake goes into full seduction mode with bedroom eyes, low voice, making sure to accentuate the sway of her hips with every step she takes to get closer to Weiss and when she’s close enough, like 2cm away from Weiss’ face, she asks :
“So... how about we give him a real reason to get angry ?”
And Weiss catches on immediately and goes into full seduction mode right back at Blake, leaning into her, standing on her tip toes to get closer to Blake’s face, winding her arms loosely around Blake’s neck and lowering her voice too to ask “Oh ? And what exactly did you have in mind ?” and Blake understands it’s her green light to go further so she (gently) pushes Weiss against a wall, right in front of one of the cameras she noticed earlier, and presses closer to Weiss, one leg between Weiss’ and her hands wandering from Weiss’ waist to her hips.
Now that could have been enough to make Jacques angry, but why stop there, huh ? So, after getting Weiss’ mumured consent, Blake kisses her and one kiss soon becomes two, then three, then turns into a full-on makeout session.
By this point neither of the girls are really thinking anymore and Blake’s hands go down to Weiss’ thighs, eliciting a muffled moan from her, which only encourages Blake to do more. So Blake picks Weiss up, Weiss’ back still against the wall and her legs now circling Blake’s waist. They break apart to catch their breath, but Blake uses the opportunity to bring a hand to the clip of Weiss’ jacket, undo it and start kissing Weiss’ throat, making Weiss moan and hug her closer.
“You ok with me leaving marks ?
- Go wild.”
So Blake starts kissing harder and sucking on the porcelain skin, making Weiss tremble against her. Weiss starts gently scratching the base of Blake’s cat ears to see what it’ll do, which earns her a moan and a bite. Once Blake is satisfied with the string of love bites and hickeys on Weiss’ throat, she goes back up to her lips to kiss Weiss again (this is starting to get addicting), then goes down Weiss’ jaw and the other side her throat to mark it as well. But, as Blake does so, Weiss’ eyes wander off to the other side of the hallway, where she sees-
“ Yang ?”
Blake didn’t really hear Weiss, too focused on her task, and Yang starts running so Weiss has to tell Blake to stop and push her back while also calling out to Yang and asking her to wait and Blake finally gets it and is like “Oh Shit”. Both her and Weiss start running after Yang and they catch up to her in the gardens. They explain that it was all to anger Jacques, but Yang is still hurt and doesn’t want to listen to them (and ok, fair, she has a pretty big crush on Blake and thought that maybe her feelings were returned so obviously she’s hurt, this hurts as hell) so she tries to get away, but Weiss tries to hold her back, look her in the eyes to explain some more and say they’re sorry and Yang just can’t take it so she swings her (right) arm to get Weiss away from her and hits Weiss. Hard. Blake cries out, scared for Weiss, and runs to her side, 3m away from Yang because her hit was just that hard and Yang is still angry, but she also feels guilty and terrible and sorry and sad and she doesn’t know how to say all that, but Weiss looks ok, she says she’s ok when Blake asks, so Yang just books it because she can’t take all these feelings.
When everyone goes back to the car (Jacques hasn’t said a thing to Weiss and Blake, probably hasn’t seen the video yet), Yang sits as far away from Weiss and Blake as she can, all of team JNPR between them, and refuses to look at either of them. No one says a thing when Nora asks about the marks on Weiss’ neck and the rest of the car ride is deadly silent.
The next day they have to choose their next mission and Yang doesn’t even really look at the board, she takes the first mission she sees, grabs Ruby and goes. Weiss and Blake, who weren’t able to talk to her at all, decide to give her some more time and take another mission together.
The mission was supposed to be basic intel gathering, but they learn that the arms dealer they were supposed to learn more about would make a big deal at a fancy party held in the next hour or so, which meant no time to call for backup or organise an operation, so Weiss and Blake decide to get there and stop the trafficking themselves. They ambush two party-goers, steal their clothes and get changed, Blake in a white suit with a black button-down shirt and black shoes and Weiss in a blue dress with a cut on the right side to show off her right leg and her hair let down to go better with the style of the dress and when they see each other they’re just like “Holy Shit” because honestly, they’re both hella sexy.
The party involves dancing, so they dance to give them a reason to move around the room and listen to the conversations to find out where the arms dealer is. Blake isn’t so good at first, but Weiss moves her hips against Blake’s to guide her, forcing the two to stay very close, and Blake is just like “Holy Fucking Shit, the prettiest woman in existence is in MY ARMS and we’re DANCING and oh Gods she smells so nice and- SHIT, Belladonna, don’t be a CREEPER” but honestly, who can blame her, huh ? Certainly not Weiss because she’s basically in the same state, if not worse, about Blake’s strong arms and how good she looks in a suit and- oh shit she’s gay.
Anyway they find the arms dealer and manage to take him down with nothing but the weapons they had at their disposal, which means furniture, broken wine bottles and a dagger- wait, a DAGGER ?! Yeah, Weiss had a dagger strapped to her thigh, just out of view even with the cut in her dress, and Blake thinks it's very sexy of her. Especially when she notices that said cut in Weiss’ dress is even bigger now after the fight and “Oh Gods damn it THESE LEGS” and Blake had never been so aware of how GAY she is. The dude she’s putting handcuffs on until the police arrives whistles at the sight and Blake just DECKS HIM and he’s out until the cops throw him in the truck.
In the meantime, Yang’s and Ruby’s mission is over, so they’re back at Atlas Academy and Yang is just... punching training dummies in the training room, Ruby and Penny watching her from the side when Winter walks in and asks if everything’s ok.
“She’s just angry because she had a pretty big crush on Blake but she saw her and Weiss making out the other day to piss your dad off.
- RUBY, you didn’t have to TELL HER.
- ... Oh. I see. Uhm... Well then, would you like to spar with me instead of just punching these things ? I find that a real fight is usually better for the nerves than punching dummies. Also I want to see what my sister’s teammates are capable of.”
And so Yang takes Winter up on her offer both as a way to let stress out and because, well, if Winter wants to see what Yang can do, Yang WILL show her. But Winter is much stronger than Yang anticipated and the fight, consequently, much harder. By the end of it, there’s no clear winner and both women are out of breath. They sit down together to drink some water and compliment each other’s fighting style and moves. Yang realises she does feel better and turn to Winter to thank her, but stops at the view : Winter taking off her tie, opening up the first two buttons of her collar and letting her hair out of her bun, shaking her head to get the hair to fall down in waves past her shoulders. Yang is like :
“Oh My God. If I didn’t know I was gay before.”
And then Winter looks at her and smiles and Yang’s heart skips a bit and she feels her cheeks heat up from something other than the heat of the fight.
“It’s been a while since I fought like that. We should do it again sometime.
- Huh... Y-yeah, sure, I mean, of course, it would be, uh, it would be my pleasure- I MEAN-”
Winter chuckles and “Oh Fucking Shit how can someone’s laugh be SO DAMN CUTE ?!” and tells Yang she gotta go but they could talk more later and Yang can just nod while she tries not to scream in gay.
Penny and Ruby are still on the side, watching, and Ruby is trying so hard not to laugh and Penny doesn’t really get what’s going on.
“Ruby, why are you shaking ?
- I think Yang’s broken heart is healed.
- Well, that’s great !
- I also think these two are gonna get A LOT closer in the next few days.
- I’m glad ! I think they’d get along well.”
And Penny just lays her head on Ruby’s shoulder while smiling, happy that everything seems to get better, and Ruby stops laughing IMMEDIATELY because “Oh Gods her head is on my shoulder, gotta stay still, gotta stay still so she’s comfortable, oh my Gods-” and Ruby suddenly feels a little more sorry for her gay mess of a sister because she is ALSO a total gay mess when Penny’s around.
When Weiss and Blake finally come back Yang decides to talk to Blake at last and they both explain their feelings and apologise and promise to be the best friends they can be from now on.
Then they hear Weiss calling for them and when they turn, she’s standing next to Winter, both still with their hair down, Weiss back in her usual attire but without the jacket and only one belt around her waist and Winter still didn’t button up her shirt or put her tie back on.
“Everyone’s waiting for us to start eating. Are you coming ?
- Uhm... Yeah, sure, just, huh, in a minute.
- Ok, don’t take too long.”
Both sisters leave, Blake and Yang look at each other and they just go :
“The Schnee sisters, am I right ?”
And share a moment of gay understanding.

Stung Knight: Never Alone
The armoured prow of Jaune's motorbike hit the Goliath, and seemed to take it out with a single hit. The prow of his motorbike turned into his shield and he drew his longsword.
Blake had jumped off the back of his bike, tying the legs of another Goliath, before swinging up to stab him deep.
Yang flew fist first into third, and it collapsed into a single, semblance-empowered punch.
Jaune used his sword to take out the the left-foreleg of a fourth before stabbing it's head from below.
* * *
JBY: Stood as they watched the 7 Goliaths dissolve.
Jaune: You can have the kitty-cat on the way back.
Yang: Hop on.
Blake: *climbs on the back of Yang's bike*
Jaune: *climbs onto his bike*
Jaune: *transforms his shield back into the prow*
* * *
The three were completely silent as the bikes traveled full speed down the roads.
* * *
The three stopped on a hill, overlooking the valley below. Blake set up the picnic as Yang and Jaune stretched from the road.
* * *
Yang and Jaune relaxed, laid back, with Blake lying over top of the two.
Jaune: *plays with Blake's ears*
Blake: *reading*
Yang: God damn, I love my life.
Jaune: *gives her a peck on the cheek*
Yang: *gives Jaune a peck on the cheek*
Jaune: *pulls Yang into a heady kiss*
Blake: *feels something poking her in her butt*
Blake: At least let me finish my chapter.
* * *
Yang: *nude, on her back*
Blake: *nude over top of her*
Blake and Yang: *heavily making out*
Jaune: *hard fucking Blake from behind*
* * *
Blake: *lies nude and listless on the ground*
Yang: *lowers her gash in Blake's face*
Jaune: *forcefully enters Yang from behind*
Blake: *starts licking the join between the two*
* * *
JBY: *lie nude in each other arms, breathing heavily*
* * *
Blake: *ears flatten*
Blake: We're losing light.
Jaune: Alright, time to head back to town.
Yang: I'm sure we have enough time for another round.
Jaune: *stands up, forcing Yang to come with him*
Jaune: Nope. *slaps her ass*
Yang (joyful): Oooohh... yeah...
Jaune: We will have more than enough time to continue when we get back.
Jaune: *slaps her ass again*
Jaune: Get dressed.
Yang: Make me.
Jaune: *pushes her onto her hands and knees and starts spanking her*
* * *
Yang: That was fun, and I certainly deserved it, but now my ass is sore.
Jaune: Which means you'll feel it all the way back to town.
* * *
Yang: *laying on the bed in their hotel room*
Yang: My ass still hurts.
Blake: You literally asked for it.
Yang: Not saying I want to change anything, but I could use a sweet thing to cuddle up to.
Blake: *rolls her eyes*
Blake: Promise you'll let me read a couple of chapters before we start anything.
Jaune: She promises.
Yang: Or what?
Yang: *winces*
Yang: Okay, I felt that one in my butt. I'll be good, I promise.
Jaune: *grabs Yang's arm and pulls her over to the side of the bed*
Jaune: *kisses her deeply*
Jaune: *lightly pats her face*
Jaune: *pushes her, causing her to roll back onto her back*
Blake: *crawls into bed with Yang, opening her book*
Yang: *starts playing with Blake's ears and hair*
Yang: Remember how shy you used to be?
Blake: I've always been a pervert. Unlike you, I was just a quiet one.
Jaune: She does have a point.
Yang: There is that, bub you can't tell me that Jaune didn't help cure you of your shyness.
Blake: Oh, it's still there. I just care more about Jaune than I do anyone else. When he pushes me, the opinions of the rest of Remnant simply don't matter.
Jaune: If we are dredging up how you used to be, why don't we try Yang?
Yang: You haven't got anything on me.
Jaune: When's the last time you talked to one of your friends from Signal?
Yang: *goes to say something*
Jaune: Not Ruby.
Yang: Shit, you got me, there.
Jaune: What was it you said in the Emerald Forest?
Yang: I... don't...
Jaune: Blake?
Blake: The gang's all here. Now we can die together.
Yang: *groans*
Yang: Alright, Yang was... can we drop it?
Jaune: No.
*pregnant pause*
Jaune: What was so special about us?
Yang: *hides her head behind Blake's*
Jaune: I asked you a question. You had just met us, so what was so special about us?
Yang: Like... love at first sight... but not love... friendships?
Jaune: Something you had not felt before?
Yang: *shyly nods*
Jaune: So, you were waiting for us to come along?..
Blake: And your friends from Signal just faded away.
Yang: Except for Ruby.
Jaune: And look at you, now?
Yang: What about now?
Jaune: God damn, I love my life.
Yang: To be fair, true.
Jaune: I would't trade you girls for the world.
Yang: Not even your Snow Angel? Why were you always so obsessed with her.
Blake: Because she was beautiful and elegant?
Jaune: You were all so beautiful, so you'll have to try again.
Yang: All of us?
Blake: *blows over her ears*
Blake: Yes, that includes you.
Yang: I didn't come off too strong?
Jaune: You were hurting, and I could see that, as much as you tried to hide it.
Yang: Aw... really?..
Blake: He didn't answer our question.
Jaune: I thought you were going to try and guess it.
Yang: Because she's sophisticated?
Jaune: That counts as under the beautiful category. As I just said, you were all so beautiful.
Yang: Hmm...
Blake: Alright, we give up. Why were you so obsessed with Weiss?
Jaune: Because she complimented me.
Yang: *snickers*
Yang: That wasn't exactly a compliment.
Jaune: At the time...
Blake: Yes?
Jaune: ...it was the best one I had ever received.
Yang: *bolts upright in bed*
Yang: No way.
Jaune: *eyes moisten*
Jaune: While you were lonely in a crowd, I was lonely by myself.
Blake: *puts her book mark in her book before putting it down*
Yang: Oh, we're doing this.
Blake and Yang: *tackle Jaune*
Jaune: *wobbles with both girls hanging off of him*
JBY: *falls to the ground, lying in a tangled mess*
Jaune: *kisses the first body part he could reach*

RWBY Ancestries Chapter 3
* So I want to apologize to those who have been waiting for me to update, I wanted to upload this close to the last chapter but I recently got the flu over the weekend and still am recovering. But to bring out the pacing of this story, the big reveal probably won’t occur until chapter 5. Mostly to get a feel for how the characters are going to be feeling before the big reveal and because it’s Salem of all people coming to Atlas, you need to set a good canvas in sense, no rushing here. Anyway on to the story!
- In Mantle, Unknown Building -
Mercury: So let me gets this straight. The Queen of Grimm, your boss, just found out that she has a living relative, and in that excitement decided to say ‘fuck it’ with the plan to get the relic and come here to have somekind of a family reunion? Did I get all that right, doc?
Watts: (Groan) While I would have worded that more tacitly, yes that is correct.
Mercury: (Nods) I see, so on a scale of one to ten, how fucked are we?
Emerald: (Whispers) Look Mercury, maybe this is a good thing? We don’t have to retrieve that dusty old heirloom anymore, and to top it all off maybe her ‘highness’ won’t be so threatening?
Watts: I wouldn’t count on that goodwill too much. Now that Ironwood knows that she is coming, it’ll make our escape more difficult. I’ve never seen her act with such abandon and she seems completely oblivious to any of her other goals.
Tyrian: (Humming)
Mercury: (Looks at the joyful psycho, then to Watts) What’s he so happy about?
Tyrian: (Decides to cut in) Oh? Lil ol me? I’m just happy that my theory about the blonde knight became a reality.~
Emerald & Mercury: (Ō_Ō)
Watts: (Facepalms) You see children our dear associate here has been holding a belief that the boy was in some form or another had a relation to our ‘wonderful goddess’
Tyrian: And for so long! The good doctor here as been chastising me that my theory was ‘work of fiction and obsession’ he said. But guess what?~ I’m the the one proven right in this matter! And I’m just basking in my genius?
Watts: What you mean is you got lucky and for once one of your preposterous theories was correct! Just because you’re right about this one doesn’t mean your other ones are right either!
Tyrian: You say that but we both know that you are just petty that I was right and you were wrong!~
Watts: Ok to go back to the subject at hand, we are going to need to improve our escape from the kingdom as I’m sure that Salem is too preoccupied to other matters to concern herself with us.
Mercury: So how do we that, steal a airship?
Watts: Of course not what do you take me for an amateur? No. We’re not stealing an airship, in fact I have a newly acquired friend with bottomless pockets who can give us the aid we need.
- Atlas Academy, 45 minutes before Wyvern arrival -
Teams RWBY and JNPR are in the girls dorm so the team leaders can properly explain the situation to their teammates.
Yang: You know I always figured that one day we’d probably have to face Salem, it’s just... didn’t think it be so soon. (Chuckles unhumorously)
Ren: Did General Ironwood say what exactly is the plan. The last time we encountered a Wyvern... it didn’t end well for anyone.
Ruby: (Exhales) Look everyone I know how much this situation is bringing back bad memories, myself included, but we’re not the same first years we were all those years ago. We’re a lot stronger than when we’ve first started and now we have enough experience to deal with this. But if anyone has anything to say before we head out that door... now would be a good time as any.
Silence fills the room for a few moments.
Ocsar: (Stands up from his sitting position, everyone directs his attention towards him) Everyone, I know I haven’t been apart of this group long, heck I haven’t even been a hunter in training until about a few months ago. But I just want you all to know one thing.
Oscar gathers up his courage.
Oscar: I’ve always lived on a farm, and didn’t know too much about the outside world. In fact the only thing I ever knew about huntsmen was from old stories my uncle used to tell me. Though for some reason it always seemed like a fairy tale to me. But then I got reincarnation of an old wizard inside my head, I left my home to go off an quest to save the world, I met a group of people who would become some of the best friends I could ask for. I know it hasn’t been easy and it’s been hard for everyone, but I just want you all to know... I’m glad to here with all of you in the end.
Nora: ... End? Who says this is the end? I mean sure we know you-know-who can’t be killed but that doesn’t mean it’s the end. I mean we’ve come this far, it’s like Ruby said we’re stronger than we were before. So why don’t we just show that Grimm lady just how strong were are.
Nora stands up as well and stands beside Oscar. Pats his right shoulder.
Nora: And don’t you worry hun’ we’ll be there with you all the way.
This motivates the remaining members of of the group to stand as well.
Weiss: I must say you two really have a way with words for when it counts.
Yang: Yeah don’t think we could put it together guys.
Blake: Besides well have each other’s backs.
Everyone stands in a circle and extends their dominant hands for a team huddle.
Ruby: No matter what happens, we’re all coming out of this alive, whatever it takes.
Both teams break and start heading out the door, only with the exception of the two team leaders.
Jaune: ... Whatever it takes huh? Can’t help but feel like you were directing that at someone in particular.
Ruby: (Directs her attention towards him) I was saying that to everyone. But maybe I needed to say it loud enough for someone in particular to notice.
Jaune: (Chuckles) Guess that makes two of us.
A silence emits from both of them.
Jaune: Well guess we should go meet them.
He moves to head out the door, but gets stopped by a hand on his chest plate. Jaune looks down and looks at the owner of his roadblock.
Ruby: I never got to say what I needed to say.
Jaune: ... (Mods for her to continue)
Ruby: (Deep breath) I wanted say thank you for always being here. I know I don’t need to say it, but I want to. You have been with me these past two years and we’ve both been through trial after trial together, when you easily didn’t need to. I’ve seen you at your lowest and at your best, and I’ve seen how much you’ve grown.
Ruby: (Exhales) What I’m trying to say is, I don’t want this to be the only memories I have of you. I want to see you become exactly like the huntsman of your dreams and I want to see you grow in the years to come. (Starts to tremble) And I want to be there to see it too. Even if the situation we are currently may imply not all of us are going to make it tonight, I still want to hold onto that dream where we’re both greatest hunter and huntress and we make it past the dark days and that we-
Jaune cuts her off to bring her into a hug. After a little bit she wraps her arms to his shoulders.
Jaune: You’ve been holding that in for awhile haven’t you?
Ruby: (Nods into his chest)
Jaune: I don’t envy the burden you carry, but just remember one thing. (He gently nudged her chin to look up at him) You don’t need to carry it alone. I’m still your co-team leader so if things ever get too much, you can talk to me. Trust me, like I trust you.
Ruby: (Stays silent for a moment before nodding) I will. Sorry, I guess I’ve been acting as a leader for so long I’ve kind of forgotten that I have another leader who I can confide to.
Jaune: (Smirks) That’s what I’m here for Crater-Face.
Ruby: (Smiles) But just so you know that goes two ways, Vomit-Boy.
Jaune: (Changes smirk to a genuine smile) Whatever you say.
A silence is left in the room between the two leaders and friends. Momentarily forgetting they haven’t let go of each other. That is until something broke up their tranquil moment.
Nora: Oh my Gods! Are you two gonna kiss already! The suspense is killing me!
The two immediately break apart and look at the source of the interruption, who was none other than the pink bomber. And she wasn’t alone.
Weiss: Dolts the both both of you, we have a literal crisis at our doorstep and here you two are acting like Jake and Rosie from Titanica. (She tries very hard to sound annoyed but fails to hide her smirk)
Both leaders blush up a storm at the former heiress’s reference to an age old romance/drama movie. They quickly try to diffuse the situation.
Ruby/Jaune: U-um well you see, he/she was feeling under the weather so I tried to encourage him/her. Wait what! I was encouraging you not the other way around, stop repeating after me. I’m not repeating, your repeating! Aaaaah!
Nora/Weiss: (Smiles at the sure density of both leaders, before they start laughing)
Ruby: (Pulls up her hood to hide her blushing) L-Look Weiss is right we need to head out soon. Can’t waste any time on preparation.
Jaune: (Looks up in opposite direction to avoid eye contact from the red reaper) Y-yeah, we should all get going.
Neither of the two move an inch for a moment then both make their way to the door and bump each other on the way.
Ruby/Jaune: S-sorry!
Without another word both starts making their way towards the others.
Weiss: (Sighs) Honestly I don’t see why they try to hide what they obviously feel towards each other. It’s almost like they’re deliberately trying to avoid the subject of confessing when it’s obvious for others to see.
Nora: I think they’re just afraid that being more than friends will be the end of their friendship, but they obviously don’t have much experience in dating life to know that isn’t true. At least most of the time.
Weiss: Ah so like Ren and you for the the longest.
Nora: (Blushes In embarrassment) You have been hanging out with Yang far too long.
Both teammates make their way to towards their leaders anticipating the battle ahead of them.

- Bonus Clip -
On the disguised airship supplied by Neo’s Semblance, both Cinder and her make their way to the kingdom of Atlas.
Neo: (Has a very concentrated face and focuses to keep the ship hidden)
Cinder: I must say you have really outdone yourself with this new trick of yours. We’ve been traveling across the Atlesian border for an hour now and no one has flagged our ship so far.
Neo: (Holds one hand up to stop Cinder’s praise, motioning she needs total concentration)
Cinder: Ah yes, of course, I’ve seem to forgat that little bit of this new skill of yours. But only for a little while longer, once we’re inside of Mantle we can begin the next step in our plan for revenge.
The two continue to fly through the landscape and make it past what should have been the first check point for Atlas’s military to check incoming airship. However, after what was five minutes no one had attempted to hail their ship. This fact, makes Cinder confused.
Cinder: Something is not right.
Neo: (Taking a glance at Cinder, she gives a questioning look)
Cinder: It’s quiet, and we haven’t had anyone attempt to hail this ship for identification.
Neo: (Gives Cinder a more questionable expression)
Cinder: What I mean is when have you ever heard of someone making it across Atlas’s order without interruption?
Another five minutes pass before Cinder looks towards Neo again.
Cinder: Drop the illusion.
Neo: (Now looks at Cinder like she’s crazy)
Cinder: Just do as I say and drop the illusion.
Neo: (Hesitant but ultimately drops the illusion around their ship)
After waiting for a short while, both start to become concerned.
Cinder: ... (Sets the ship to auto pilot) I’m going outside.
Cinder makes her way out of helm of the ship and makes her way towards outside on the deck. What she sees honestly shocks her. Numerous of Atlas’s defense systems are destroyed and judging from all the scorching and smoke something large had attacked this place long before they’d arrived. Neo comes joins Cinder to see what’s all the commotion about, once seeing all the destruction she gains a surprised and horrified expression.
Cinder: It appears that our plan may have become more complicated.
