Here’s variations on a Ruby outfit. (I know I put up a poll but I got impatient. I am working on the outfit that won the poll though, which was B.)

The cloak was inspired by the Fixing RWBY redesign (made by the Sketchy Huntsman, specifically the wonderful @swirlmup and @butterflybluelady)! Is the emblem on her skirt and her cloak too much? I’ve always been interested in adding green to Ruby’s pallette (like the stem of the rose), but I’m always afraid she’ll end up looking like Christmas. How did I do? The yellow bow was a reference to my Blake redesign (and Yang):

I feel like I was less experimental with her color palette than my recent Weiss redesign. But you can’t make her outfit too red because she has her giant red cloak. Ruby might become a big red blob with too much red, and the black works so well to emphasize the red. (I guess what ain’t broke don’t fix it?) Do you think making the black of her outfit a very very dark green or blue? Maybe I should have tried using dark brown as an accent color. I was also afraid of making Ruby less goth/emo since it’s a unique trait of hers that I like and differentiates her from other characters with similar personalities.

Haven’t actually posted this on my social media accounts yet, I’m waiting to post it in January for JanuRWBY. (Also quick question, how many variations are too many variations?) I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts and what you think works and doesn’t work, have a great day!!

God bless all these variations they’re so pretty!!! Ahh!! I can’t pick all of them but I’ll make a new exception in discussing two outfits that stand out the most to me, which is H and L!

As for the limit of variations I would love to talk about as many as possible but the images limit is ten for posts like these, so maybe four if possible.

Weiss Schnee.

Let’s talk about H first. The style is very casual but can work as a battle attire, she looks professional which is good since professional outfits for Weiss almost tend to look like an Atlas student uniform. I love the idea of lilac on her to get the ice-cold theme, gray leggings is something I don’t mind but maybe another color could be better like black or just no leggings at all? Not sure.

Now for L, the same applies in it looking professional without it looking like an Atlas student uniform, butttt it almost looks like an Ace Op uniform. It’s by no means your fault, the showrunners and designers decided to have the Ace Ops be in such similar colors to Weiss’ so it’s gonna be immediate for me to make the comparison. I truly think these colors just look the best on her, no blues or lilacs, just the white, black, and red are the best.

Overall they’re all super cool and pretty, you experimented and nailed it on these designs the most. I can imagine Weiss either wearing this outfit during her arrival at Mistral or just a casual look.

Yang edit based on advice from @thatguythatdrawsalot. Actually finished 99% of it in October (2024) but gave up when I couldn’t figure out what to do with her neck. Decided to just draw the first necklace that came to mind to finish and post it. Have a great day!!!
