This post is to elaborate more on my experience in the DBT group and some of the reading and tools I found most helpful to me.
The DBT group I was able to take part in was a remote group that met once a week for 16 weeks via Webex. I was very lucky to get a spot and that my Medicaid covered any cost. It was run by two social workers as part of NYU Langone's Psychiatric Center at Sunset Terrace.
The weeks were broken down based on the 4 Modules (core skill groups) of DBT: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
Mindfulness: This is the base of any DBT practice, and what I always had trouble with in the past. Mindfulness is a kind of self-awareness that you can use to break down your experiences and give yourself a kind of reality check. Being mindful is being present and aware of your emotions, your body, and your thought process.
There are 3 states of mind with which we experience and react to the world: Emotion Mind (acting based on emotions alone), Reasonable Mind (acting based on facts alone), and Wise Mind (a combination of the first 2 and the goal of mindfulness).
Distress Tolerence: This module focuses on short term solutions for big emotions. The skills involved in this module are called Distraction skills because their goal is to just get you through the wave of emotion, resist any harmful urges, and survive your distress long enough to talk to someone or get to other skills.
There are quite a few skills in this module I found helpful, and I'll go into more detail on them in another post. The skill I think can do the most in the moment is called ACCEPTS, an acronym used to remember what you can do to distract yourself when feelings get too intense.
Emotion Regulation: This 3rd module focuses on learning to identify your emotions, understand where they come from and what they are trying to tell you, and processing them in a healthy way.
The purpose of all emotions is evolutionary survival. Emotions spur us into action to meet our needs (when you get hangry, you know you need to eat), and communicate danger to ourselves and others. Body language and voice tone can also often communicate emotions before words do.
*Use a feeling wheel to identify your emotions and dig deeper. If you can't process them right away, use a distress tolerance skill until you are able to sit with them.
*The best skill for emotion regulation is ABC PLEASE, an acronym used to help you recognize vulnerability factors in your life and minimize them.
Interpersonal Effectiveness: This last module focuses on skills that help us communicate with others. There are skills like GIVE, which can be used to maintain good relationships with others, and FAST, which can be used to help maintain your self-respect when making a request of someone.
*There are others that I will make graphics for, stay tuned!
Attending the group and learning the skills was only part of what I found helpful on my journey toward stability. I found a book, Mindfulness for Borderline Personality Disorder, that helped break mindfulness down in great detail and very easy to follow language. The book is written specifically for BPD-havers so it's really an excellent resource. The other tool I found helpful is something my therapist suggested I get, The Game of Real Life, which is a game that you can play to learn DBT skills in an interactive and fun way. It comes with a little book that breaks every skill and practice down, Skill cards which I find to be a great go-to for recalling a skill in a moment you need it (after all, it's a whole lot of acronyms to remember), and Conflict cards that give you examples of situations you might experience, and you have to pick a skill card to practice (can be done alone but better with someone you trust to really dive into the communication and regulation skills). I've actually been carrying a few of the skill cards in my purse wherever I go, just in case I need a quick reference in a moment of distress.
I have so much more to share with anyone who's interested. I'll keep posting, making graphics, and if anyone has a specific question about any of the modules, I'll do my best to answer or help you find the information online. DBT groups are super hard to find, in extremely high demand so it's hard to get in, and usually grossly expensive due to this country's horrible healthcare system. I consider myself extremely privileged to have been able to find a great hospital when I needed it and a great group that my insurance covered. I'm here for anyone who isn't as lucky. Let's make DBT accessible and break the stigma of the BPD diagnosis!

2024 / 09
Aperçu of the Week:
"Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without."
(Siddhārtha Gautama, Indian wisdom teacher and founder of religion)
Bad News of the Week:
Various military scandals are currently rocking Germany. On the one hand, Russian (state) media have published a recording of a confidential conversation between senior air force officers that has been intercepted. And at a sensitive time. It concerns Taurus cruise missiles, which Ukraine desperately wants and which the German government, in particular Chancellor Olaf Scholz, is refusing. His official reason: German personnel were needed on site to ensure the weapon's functionality and, above all, its target settings. And Germany would therefore be a "direct participant in the war". This is precisely what the air force contradicts in this conversation, which was intended to coordinate a briefing on this topic for Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
Was Scholz just misinformed or did he deliberately give a false reason and hope that nobody would find out? The former would be amateurish, the latter an unworthy political spectacle - and both are out of the question. The fact that the Federal Chancellor also revealed in the same context that the US and British military were already active in Ukraine is just as questionable and raises the same questions. Scholz is often accused of communicating too little. In these cases, less would have been more.
The circumstances of this confidential conversation are also alarming. It appears that the conversation was actually a WebEx meeting to which an unknown (apparently Russian) participant had dialed in. Just like that. And nobody noticed. I was fully aware that cyber espionage is dominated by the Russians. And that Germany is lagging behind in pretty much every aspect of digitalization. But the fact that it seems to be so easy to obtain secret military information should really only be a bad joke. It will be interesting to see what other recordings of confidential conversations the Kremlin still has in the drawer. And when and with what ulterior motives they will be released to the (western) public.
And on the other hand, in the last few days, an investigative team has brought to light an arms deal that fell through ten years ago. In a deal worth billions, the German armaments company Rheinmetall would have built state-of-the-art combat training centers in Russia to train Russian soldiers. Excuse me? You need to know that no German arms manufacturer is allowed to deliver abroad (outside NATO) without the approval of the German government. This has always been a source of debate in the case of Leopard II tanks for Saudi Arabia, for example. And the conservative-liberal coalition in power at the time (yes: Angela Merkel) had actually approved the Russia deal. Excuse me? When Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, Sigmar Gabriel, the then Social Democrat Minister of Economic Affairs, fortunately pulled the ripcord. Whereupon Rheinmetall actually wanted to sue the federal government for lost profits. Since then, the issue has been on ice.
Both scandals show one thing very clearly: Defense is not a normal business and weapons are not just any export goods. This goes hand in hand with an immense responsibility. After all, human lives are at stake - protecting the lives of one's own population and killing (at least) the soldiers of another population. Apparently, not everyone involved is aware of this fundamental importance. Otherwise they would not treat it so lightly.
Good News of the Week:
Addison Mitchell McConnell Jr. ("Junior" - really?) will be history. Finally. In the dawn of his political career, the 82-year-old turtle from Capitol hill has shown astonishing wisdom of age - for example, "There is no doubt, none, that former President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the storming of the Capitol" - but that does not change the overall balance of his political life's work. Which, from a European perspective, is questionable to say the least.
In my memory, the long-time leader of the Republican caucus in the US Senate stands for one thing above all: rejection. Holding China accountable for human rights violations? Rejected. Allowing the Democrats' social programs? Rejected. Reappoint judges if you can't nominate them yourself (over 1,000 times!)? Rejected. Not only favor the super-rich in tax reforms? Rejected. And so on...
So now Mitch McConnell has announced that he "only" wants to be a simple senator after the next presidential election. Well. Anyone remember his cognitive failures in several press conferences when he simply freezed? Like his Democratic opponent Nancy Patricia D'Alesandro Pelosi (who is two years older), McConnell is an argument for the urgent need for an age limit for full-time politicians. But that argument obviously doesn't apply to the top job either...
PS: The above criticism of Donald Jessica Trump came just minutes after the Republican caucus under his leadership acquitted him in his second impeachment trial precisely because of the storming of the Capitol. So much for consistency. But never mind: he's gone. And that's good.
Personal happy moment of the week:
My daughter has a student job in addition to her studies in political science and communications and her involvement in the student organization. The money for the 37th pair of sneakers has to come from somewhere. She currently works in the political department of a leading social media agency. She had doubts at first. Whether she would be able to meet the requirements. And whether the job would meet her expectations. Both seem to be working out. At the weekend, she was praised for her performance by both her agency and its clients. As if she wasn't just an inexperienced young student who didn't need to be taken seriously. But a fully-fledged contributor in the department. Her contract was also extended. Including a pay rise - just one euro, but it's all about the symbolism. After her social year in a kindergarten, this is the second time she has scored points in a job. That makes a clean 100%. And a very proud dad.
I couldn't care less...
...that there will be strikes on our national rail company again. Company co-determination in all its glory - but the behavior of this union (of train drivers) seems increasingly unprofessional. And anything but solution-oriented.
It's fine with me...
...that when setting hashtags, the first suggestion for Donald is still Duck - and not Trump.
As I write this...
...I still have to empty half the cellar. Because one of the many difficult-to-understand regulations in Germany apparently requires a gas meter to be replaced every eight years. And it's in the worst possible place in our house. Thank you, bureaucracy!
Post Scriptum
Even if AfD & Co. don't want to admit it in their general xenophobia, the German labor market would no longer be able to function without immigrants and their children. According to the Federal Statistical Office, for example, nothing would work in cleaning professions with 60%, in gastronomy with 46% or in construction with 38% of the workforce having foreign roots.
The fact that the general proportion on the labor market is then only just under 25% is explained by the dominance of these - with the exception of medical professions - rather low-skilled occupations. For example, the proportion of apprenticeships is only 11%. The proportion is even lower for government occupations. Here, citizens with a migration background still play a very small role, with less than 6% in the police and judiciary.
Demographic change and the imminent retirement of the baby boomers are exacerbating the situation on the labor market. The shortage of skilled workers is already seen as a key risk for Germany as a business location. Society also has a role to play here. After all, together with the difficult German language and excessive bureaucracy, the widespread lack of a welcoming culture is the main reason why very few people consider Germany to be an attractive destination.

Chế độ StandBy với Always On Display
Tiếng Ả Rập Tiếng Hà Lan Tiếng Anh Tiếng Pháp Tiếng Đức Tiếng Do Thái Tiếng Hàn Tiếng Ý Tiếng Ba Lan Tiếng Bồ Đào Nha Tiếng Romania Tiếng Tây Ban Nha Tiếng Thái.
Đặc biệt, tính năng tự động sửa lỗi nâng cao bằng tiếng Anh, tiếng Pháp và tiếng Tây Ban Nha chỉ hoạt động trên các dòng iPhone 12 trở lên.

jesus god please clap, I've been having a really hard time getting out of bed in the mornings lately and I accomplished basically NOTHING that I wanted to do on my day off yesterday because I was having period agonies and some friends came over so today I just. got out of bed at 6 and so far I've
done a load of laundry next door at my bestie's
put away said laundry
scooped the litterboxes

Benefits of Using a Bluetooth Speakerphone for Your Office
This digital era is the new era of a hybrid work environment. Hence, Bluetooth speakers are gaining popularity and have become one of the most convenient ways for wireless connections to your smartphone, tablets, laptops and other devices. With innovations incorporated in the latest models, speakers have become speaker phones. They can be used as an entertainment appliance and for meetings and conferences. Furthermore, other modern features, including a hands-free experience, versatility and compatibility with other devices, make them famous, offering convenience to the users.
Let us discuss the benefits of using a Bluetooth Speakerphone.
Benefits of Bluetooth speakerphones
1. Easier to pair with the latest professional and personal devices
One of the prime benefits of using a Bluetooth-enabled speakerphone is its exclusive software platform. It can easily be detected and connected with popular smart devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
The newer models have an inbuilt operating system compatible with the latest unified communication platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Cisco Webex, Google Meet, GoTo meeting, etc. Take part in meeting discussions keeping your hands free and offering greater comfort. Even if you are amidst the chaos, your voice will be transferred noise free to all the ends connected via a unified communication platform. The latest models also come with a 4 MEMS Microphone Array to catch your voice perfectly from anywhere within a 5 m radius of the meeting space.
5. Versatility
A Bluetooth-enabled speakerphone can work as a contact center voice assistant, open office calling device, online education speaker, etc. It can also be used as a personal collaboration device and a more-advanced microphone. It is easier to carry and integrate with the latest operating systems, unified communication platforms, web browsers, etc. Hence, it comes in a one-in-all small package.
6. High-definition voice communication
The latest models of these speakerphones come with a Dual-Core HIFI 4 DSP chip that reduces noise to the highest level and delivers voice appropriately for seamless communication. These models' speakers are good enough to understand what an audience is saying.

Concept Of Webcast Streaming
Introduction
Webcast streaming, also known as webinars or conferences, is a technology that broadcasts information through the internet. The website that provides the webcast streaming service and content must be able to support large amounts of bandwidth to provide a practical and reliable experience for viewers.
A webcast, webinar and web conference are all names for a similar things. A webcast is a live event that is streamed over the internet. A webinar is a seminar or lecture that is streamed via the internet. A web conference (also called an "online meeting") allows multiple participants to interact with each other through their computers or smartphones using their microphones, cameras and speakers. This can be done through video conferencing software such as Cisco WebEx Meeting Center or Zoom Online Meetings on PC/Mac/Mobile devices (iOS/Android).
Examples of Webcast Streaming
Webcasts can be used to deliver training or marketing content. They can also be used to give speeches, conferences and other events.
Webcasts are recorded so that they can be viewed later if you cannot attend the live broadcast or if there is no internet connection in your area.
Use Cases of Webcast Streaming
These services are helpful for many purposes. For example, it can be used for:
Education: Webcasts can be used to deliver lectures and seminars online. Lecturers can live stream presentations directly from their office to any device that has access to the internet. This includes students' computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. This method allows students who may not be able to attend classes in person (because they are too far away or don't have time) to access the material offered by these lectures anywhere they like with no hassle!
Marketing: They enable businesses and organizations to reach out to their target audience directly through a live event -- whether it's an annual conference or an announcement about new products being released soon (or both!). The possibilities are endless when it comes down it reaching out to targeted people through webcast events via social media channels like Twitter while also promoting them during different times throughout the day on Facebook or LinkedIn pages where there might already be some followers interested in what you have beforehand been posting about regularly - which means even more potential customers joining up within hours after posting something new without having done any extra work than simply sharing something online once its ready enough so that everyone else knows what's happening soon enough for them to join up now rather than later when everyone else gets bored waiting around wondering why no one else has posted anything yet.
Benefits of Webcast Streaming
Webcast streaming allows you to reach a global audience.
Webcasting is a great way to reach an audience that is not physically present or available at a particular time, such as working at home or travelling. Webcasts can be recorded and archived for later viewing if they are considered during times when they are not convenient for some viewers. Webcasts also allow you to target specific groups of people with particular interests. For example, suppose you have created content related to charity activities. In that case, webcasting technology will enable you to gather those interested in this activity and share information about how best to participate in such activities through the webcast platform.
Webcast Streaming Guide
Webcast streaming transmits audio, video and data over the internet. It's used in webinars, conferences, presentations and other events to reach a global audience.
Webcast service is a great way to communicate with your audience on a larger scale than you could if you share information via email or text message. It also allows you to give viewers more detailed information about what happens at your event because they can see it as it happens with no lag time involved in waiting for delivery before getting started watching or listening.
While there are many benefits associated with using webcast streaming services like GoToWebinar+™ (a leading provider), there are also some drawbacks that need mentioning before deciding whether or not this service is right for your organization:
Understanding webcast
A webcast is a way to broadcast live events. It's also known as webinar streaming because it's often used for webinars, but it can also be used for other types of events. For example, you could use this method to stream a lesson or presentation at your company, or you could even stream an event that takes place offline and share the information with people who couldn't attend in person.
The idea behind webcasting is that you can reach out to a broader audience and build brand awareness simultaneously by broadcasting an event on the internet rather than only holding it in person. If you choose this marketing method, you're likely to get more people interested in what you have available--and potentially able to make purchases from your business!
Conclusion
Now that you know the basics of webcast streaming, it's time to start your own business! It's never been easier than it is today to connect with customers around the globe and share valuable information. Contact us today if you have questions about how to make your next webcast successful. We'll be happy to help.

Another night with just 3 hours of sleep. The good news though, is I see these patterns. My friend R has been super silent and set up time with me today with some specific things on the agenda, but my brain had translated the silence into her being furious with me. I was so distracted by it all morning, watching the clock until our meeting. We both logged on to webex at the same time and everything was fine, and I took this deep, re-centering breath. While definitely a dimension of the unwell part of my interior, in moments like that historically, I would have been completely panicking vs this quiet dread. Both are terrible and irrational but I guess it’s more manageable now? I’ll take it.The point of this is that it is the lack of sleep where I am so prone to these moments.
The assisted living place called - my dad threw up twice after lunch. Apparently he is feeling better now. My sister was their point of contact but I guess I am now? It’s hard to believe that others find me to be so capable when I spent a good portion of the day laying on the sofa, balancing a coffee cup and a handful of shredded cheese and crackers on my stomach.
The floors are being installed today and I am dyyyyyyyyying to go see it, but the contractor said to not walk on them for a couple of days, so I have to wait until tomorrow after work. He is very hot, so I do everything he tells me.
Today was spent gathering a bunch of data to present to the CEO who I think likely qualifies as one of the most powerful people in the world. And I am down the bone grateful that I don’t have to present it. I am so happy to be a middle manager. And, I am terrified that the data is wrong.

Coronavirus has really shook the world. The entire world slowed down and came to a complete stop. Businesses shuttered, borders closed, and schools shut their doors.
That's how you ended up in this situation, back in the outer banks where you grew up, sitting on a zoom call with your professor in lieu of personal office hours.
You don't love it, the internet is spotty at times, and you're really struggling with the best way to explain your issues with macroeconomics to your professor in order to get her help. You're really struggling with macro, which is surprising given your A+ in micro with the same prof last semester. You’re not sure if it’s the content or the online delivery that gives you trouble, but you just can’t seem to grasp it with the ease of last semester.
You also don't love all distractions. Getting out of bed is impossible when you can just lean back against your plush headboard and use your laptop right there to sit in the zoom lectures. It's difficult to hunker down and work on essays and assignments when your backyard is literally the beach. With the slight ease up on restrictions as of late, it's even more difficult to ignore your friends who come calling to ask you to bask in the sun or enjoy mimosas at the island club (while maintaining appropriate social distancing, of course!). You love your parents, but they have no sense of privacy or timing. You're a sophomore in university for Christ's sake, your dad throwing open your door to make sure your boyfriend hadn't somehow snuck up the door while their backs were turned was really getting old. (Not to mention the staircase makes noise, and you always have enough time to throw Rafe off of you and shove him into your closet or en suite before the door has a chance to open).
Speaking of Rafe, your six foot business major boyfriend is the biggest distraction. You're not sure how he's passing his classes, when he spends his time harassing you rather than studying or attending online lectures. Currently he's sitting across from you at your dining room table, making bedroom eyes at you over the lid of his laptop that he hasn't typed a word on in over half an hour.
Your professor is mid-way through explaining purchasing-power parity, dropping terms like arbitrage and nominal exchange rates, when you feel movement against your left ankle. You rip your ankle back, eyes furrowed as you attempt to pay attention to the explanation. You’re left alone to hurriedly scribble notes down in your notebook for a few minutes, until you start to idly nibble on the rubber end of your pencil through a more difficult concept.
There’s movement along your ankle again, this time sliding up your calf. You drop your pencil in shock, glowering at Rafe who only shoots you an innocent look.
You make a solid attempt at focusing your attention back on your laptop screen, eyes only flickering to Rafe when he lifts his pen and drops it on the ground, whispering “oops”. You start scribbling down more information into your notebook, when your eyes flicker to the empty spot Rafe was just sitting in. You’re confused for a moment until you feel his large hands wrap around your bare thighs under the table.
You move a hand under the table to try and push him off of you, but one hand simply lifts from your thigh to grasp yours, quickly intertwining your fingers. A pair of lips press to your inner thigh, dangerously close to where you want him most, causing you to gasp audibly.
You push your chair back, startled and your professor asks you if everything is alright. Face flushed and heart pounding in your ears, you make a weak excuse of not feeling well all of a sudden and quickly end the call.
You lift the edge of the table cloth, bending down to see Rafe on his knees, grinning up at you. You yank him by the arm, dragging him out from underneath the table before smacking him. “Rafe, that wasn’t funny! I’m going to fail that midterm!”
“Don’t worry about it baby, I aced that course last year I can just tutor you.” Rafe explains, lips moving to caress your jaw. You push back against him so that you can look him directly in the eyes.
“That better not be a euphemism for some weird role playing thing,” you tell him sternly.
“Nah,” he smirks, looking deeply into your eyes, “unless that’s something you’re in to.” You gasp and hit his chest, but he only laughs at you, moving to grip your wrist and tug you closer. “Are you into that, baby?” he murmurs lowly into your ear.
“Shut up and kiss me,” you grumble, half-heartedly trying to pull your wrist from his loose grasp. He smirks, dropping your wrist to wrap a hand around the back of your neck before pulling your lips to his.
