A guide to being the local fashion icon 🐆
Tumblr media
1. THRIFT THRIFT THRIFT!
I am someone who lives for unique clothing. My biggest tip ever for anyone who wants to stand out and be more fashionable is to start thrifting. Not only is it beyond fun this is a place where you can get pieces no one else has for CHEAP. nothing feels better than finding ur dream clothing piece at a thrift store. And you can get high quality clothing for way cheaper than a new poor quality item you get online. I’ve thrifted since forever so I might post thrifting tips soon.
2. Do a closet cleanout
It is so important to get rid of clothes you won’t wear anymore. I struggle with this and found myself keeping clothes as “backup” so much that I ended up with filled to the brim drawers full of clothes I find extremely ugly or that I just didn’t ever wear anymore. And this caused me to forget the nice clothes I have and only wear the same outfits all the time because I couldn’t find my other clothes. So GET RID OF CLOTHES!
3. Find your staples
My staples include black boots, leather jackets, denim jackets, and a few good pairs of jeans. Now this can be completely different for you. You need to figure out what the items are most needed for the outfits that go with your style.
4. Avoid shopping on SHEIN
Hear me out. I used to be a shein addict and I know how addictive it can be to buy cute clothes for cheap. But I just don’t find it worth it at all anymore. And I don’t even own any of the hundreds of clothes I bought on Shein anymore because the ones I wore often got ugly crazy fast. I hate to be the one to say it but you can almost always tell when a clothing piece is from shein. Now you do you, but if we’re talking about being that it girl, the one who always looks so cool and stylish and somehow nobody does it like her, buying quality clothing is key. Trust me you can find a better option at the thrift for almost anything you’re buying from shein. Shein also mostly sells clothes that will go out style in a few months.
5. don’t put yourself in a box
Create your style without trapping yourself in an aesthetic. The beauty of fashion is you can always try new things and be creative and express yourself through it. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Wear something a little different every now and then if you feel like it. You don’t need to dress a specific way all the time.
6. Find inspiration
One thing I like to do is to write down the people whose style I like so that I can get inspiration from them and see what I can take away from their fashion choices. Another thing I do is making a Pinterest board for every season every year that way I can look at it when I want ideas.
7. Shop with a goal in mind
A lot of the times we end up buying things we barely wear because we bought it just for the sake of buying something. I like to keep a list of things I really want t and look for those specific things when I’m shopping to avoid buying things I don’t actually want.
8. Add a bit of color to your outfits
Look, I am someone who literally only ever wears neutral colors. But the times I choose to add a bit of color to my outfits it upgrades them so much. I mostly do this with red because it’s pretty much the only bold color I don’t despise. But a bolder color can really make ur outfits stand out so much more. This works best if it’s only 1 specific part of ur look.
9. Accessorize
I know we hear this all the time but accessories really brings an outfit together. You can have the most basic outfit, but if you add some jewelry, a bag, and a pair of sunglasses it suddenly looks not basic at all. Or maybe you add a cute belt. Accessorizing is key to spicing up your outfits.
10. Find a makeup that fits you
Recently I’ve been loving a 90’s makeup look. I think finding a makeup style that suits you changes everything. I don’t feel complete if I’m not wearing some lip combo. So try out different makeup styles and see what you like best.
11. Have one interesting factor in ur outfit
Having one thing that stands out from the rest of ur outfit makes it so much more unique. This can be anything from a pattern, to a texture, to a color etc. having only ONE is important because it makes your outfit interesting but keeps it from looking messy.
Hope this helps u become a fashion diva 🫶🏼🙂‍↔️

♡ Scemo clothing haul! ♡
A couple of weeks ago, I got to order some stuff from Hot Topic, so I thought I'd do a bit of a haul and show you guys some of the things I got! I took all of the pictures for this post so some of them might look kind of weird since I'm not great at taking photos but I tried my best.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎀 Accessories
Tumblr media
I got a pair of fishnet gloves, skeleton gloves, leg warmers, and a black and pink studded belt. I'm really happy with all of these, especially the fishnet gloves since I've been wanting a pair for the longest time and I've been wearing them almost every day since I got them. I'm also really glad to finally have a pink studded belt for my pink outfits!
🎀 Hole Pretty on the Inside shirt dress
Tumblr media
This is actually my first piece of Hole merchandise which I'm really happy about because I've been listening to them since I was like nine. I also really love these sort of oversized dress length shirts because they're great for when I want to go for a more grungy look. These types of shirts styled with a cute necklace, a flannel, boots, and some over-the-knee socks just makes for a great outfit.
🎀 Leopard print skort
Tumblr media
For a short period during the summer of last year, I was pretty into the rockstar's girlfriend aesthetic and one of the staples of that aesthetic was leopard print, so I got a leopard print skort. I don't have many skirts that aren't black, so this is a pretty different addition to my wardrobe.
🎀 Monster High hoodie
Tumblr media
This was one of the items that I was most excited about since I really love Monster High. I haven't really had a chance to wear it yet, but I definitely will soon because I really love it.
🎀 Ruby Gloom crop top
Tumblr media
I've been watching a lot of Ruby Gloom recently, so when I found out that Hot Topic carried some Ruby merch, I just had to get something. The shirt's so cute and I especially love the sleeves because black and red stripes remind me of the mall goth aesthetic. This is definitely one of my new favourite shirts!
🎀 Misfits shirt
Tumblr media
I already had a Misfits shirt, but I didn't have any of their shirts that have the Crimson Ghost on them. Plus Johnnie has this shirt so of course I had to get it. It also goes great with the skeleton gloves.
🎀 Skull tutu skirt
Tumblr media
The main reason I got this was actually because it reminded me of that one skull outfit Eugenia used to wear a lot. I also don't have too many gothic clothing items so I wanted to get some. Plus this skirt styled with a pair of fishnet tights, the Misfits shirt, and skeleton gloves would just be so perfect.

That's it, byeeeee!! ˚。⋆୨୧˚♡

Beautiful tips and steps to help you dress Goth
If you want to achieve the gothic fashion look, read this article to find out some beautiful tips and steps to do so – like carrying gothic bags!
Gothic bags and other items can take your fashion style to the next level. The fashion was born in the late 1800s and re-emerged in the UK from the post-punk scene in the 1980s. It shows no signs of going anywhere soon. A lot of people around the world indulge in this fashion because it is unique. It has been associated with a few signature traits. For anyone looking to get into this fashion style should start by learning the basics.
Important things you need to know
You should consider wearing a lot of black clothing such as pants, shirts, shoes and so on. If you are in doubt, you should consider all black. You can try a daring gothic hairstyle such as Mohawk. This will amp up your look. You can dye your hair neon for more flare. Make sure you keep in mind the right accessories. Layer on gothic jewelry like bracelets and chokers with pentagrams. You can try other cool symbols to top off your look.
Choose the right clothing
When it comes to gothic style, you should purchase a lot of basics and black pieces of clothing. The black color has been considered a staple of this fashion. You should work black into your wardrobe as the main color of your outfit. Buy a lot of plain pants, socks, tops and skirts during your shopping trip. You need to own the essentials of gothic fashion to start building outfits you like.
T-shirts are great when it comes to building your Goth wardrobe. They are very easy to find, cheap and come in numerous styles. If you want to achieve a feminine style, purchase an oversized t-shirt and pair it with fishnet stocks or high socks. It is acceptable to avoid wearing all black at all times. You can add a bit of variety to your outfit. This can be achieved by mixing other colors such as white, grey, red, blue violet or pink.
Choose black clothes in lace, velvet, silk, leather, or cheesecloth to achieve a classic Goth look. The Goth fashion is based on DIY and creativity. You should therefore try looking for clothing at your local second-hand shop, indie shops, flea markets and car boot sales.
Consider distressed clothing
Ripped tops and bottoms or distressed clothes are one of the most commonly worn dresses across every gothic culture. You should consider denim shorts or jeans with tears on the legs. Wear fishnets under your distressed bottoms to achieve an extra gothic look.
Consider graphic prints
You can consider occult patterns because they are a staple for gothic fashion. Always watch out for any graphic/patterned clothing featuring pentacles and pentagrams, stars, moons, crosses or skulls. You can consider a moon phase-printed casual dress that comes with long black socks.
Consider leather
If you can find gothic bags made with leather materials, you’ll be on the right track. Leather is a very popular choice when it comes to the Gothic style. It is versatile and can be worn in the form of bags, jackets, shorts, pants or skirts.

pretty - harry styles x reader
summary- harry wants some help with his makeup :,) requests are open <3
Tumblr media
you had known that harry was going to the first night of harryween dressed as dorothy from the wizard of oz, but you hadn’t expected it to be so heartachingly cute. you walked into his dressing room as he was finishing getting ready, letting your shoulder lean your weight on the door frame.
appropriately, you were dressed as toto, wearing a long sleeved black leotard with matching tights and ears. harry hadn’t noticed you in the doorway yet, but, if he had, he would’ve seen the adoring smile on your face.
he caught your eye in his mirror after a moment, his face breaking into a grin that made your stomach do somersaults. “what do you think?” he asked, his cheeks turning red as if he was worried you wouldn’t like it.
you walked further into the room, your gogo boot heels clicking the ground as you did so. “you look so pretty.” you told him, your hands coming up to clasp over your mouth to cover the blush forming on your cheeks.
harry smiled bashfully, looking down at his boots, which were styled to look like dorothy’s socks and red ruby slippers. “really?” he asked, looking back into the mirror to see his dress before looking to you.
you nodded, moving closer to wrap your arms around him. you had no words to describe the emotions and thoughts swirling in your brain, so you just pouted out your bottom lip and brought your eyebrows together, giving him a face that would hopefully convey even a sliver of the amount of thoughts you had about how adorable he was.
he held you to him for a moment, pulling back only to admire your outfit. “you look so gorgeous.” he said, his accent coming out thicker than normal due to the amount of love he felt for you.
“nothing compared to you right now.” you replied, reaching up a hand to brush a lock of hair out of his face, since the rest was pulled back by his hair bow.
he closed his eyes, giving himself a moment to relish in your touch and embrace. “i actually.. um.. was wondering if you could help me.” he said after a sweet moment of silence.
you tilted your head, looking up at him. “what’s up?”
he was embarrassed; you could tell by the way he looked down at his feet, his eyes glancing up to meet yours every few seconds as he fumbled over his words. he was also doing his staple nervous move: fiddling with anything his hands were on, which just so happened to be your waist, that he soothingly rubbed his fingers around.
after looking down at you fully again, he spoke. “could you.. maybe help me with my makeup?” he asked, biting his lip nervously. “you do it a lot better than i do, and i like it better when you put it on anyway.” he explained, watching as your gaze softened and a smile spread across the expanse of your cheeks.
“i’d love to do your makeup, h.” you assured him, watching as he let out a slight sigh of relief. you didn’t know why he expected you to say no, but you blamed it on his pre-show jitters, which always made him get nervous.
he sat back down at his chair, looking at himself in the mirror. you stood next to him, bending over to pick up the makeup bag that you had in the corner of the counter. you pulled out a brush and the small container of blush, getting down so your face was level with his.
you dabbed the brush into the pink pigment, moving to lightly swatch it along his cheeks. “i’m gonna go for a more stage-makeup look.” you explained, biting your lip slightly as you focused.
harry was watching you, feeling overwhelmed by the love and adoration he felt pouring out of him. you were doing his makeup for him, and you looked gorgeous, and he felt so confident in his dress, but more importantly you had complimented his dress. he felt giddy, almost like when he was a little kid and would get dressed up to go trick or treating.
you finished applying the blush to his cheeks, which were now coated a red-ish pink. you grabbed mascara from the makeup bag, taking out some false lashes. “do you want just mascara or lashes too?” you asked with a soft hum, letting him look at the lashes to see his options.
he looked up at you, seeing what lashes you had on. “i think.. i think i want to try the lashes if that’s okay.” he told you, giving you a sweet smile.
“yeah, of course!” you nodded, getting out the lash glue and applying it to the back of them. you softly blew on the lashes, allowing the glue to settle in. after a brief moment, you lightly applied pressure to his lids, gluing the lashes on.
his eyes widened as he blinked, getting used to the new sensation. a surprised and amused smile spread across his face as he looked up at you, still blinking and winking his eye. “does it look good?”
“you look like a princess.” you replied, kissing his cheek. “one more, okay?” you applied the other lash on, and this time he was more prepared for the cold feeling of the glue. once they were both glued on, you grabbed the mascara and held it up. “okay, so you’re just gonna blink, okay? this’ll make the lashes look more cohesive and real with your natural ones.” you explained.
he blinked when you told him to, trying not to get the black makeup on his skin or eyelids. once the eye makeup was finished, you pulled out a nude lip liner, gently applying it around the outline of his lips.
“this goes around your lips, and makes the lipstick stay more between the lines.” you explained, watching as he lightly puffed his lips, looking up at you as you worked. you then grabbed a lipstick of the matching color, pressing it to his lips to fill them in. he popped his lips together as he’d seen you do before, watching as you giggled.
you put the makeup all away, standing back to admire your work. he looked from himself in the mirror over to you, reaching out a hand to pull you closer to him, even though he was still seated in the chair. “i love you.” he said, looking at the both of you in the mirror.
a smile spread across your cheeks as you bent down to kiss his temple, forehead, and cheek, resting your head on top of his. “i love you too, pretty boy.”

Tumblr media
Height: 6′2″ Weight: 160lbs. Eyes: Icy blue Hair: Dark blue Skin: Greyish-blue Build: Fit, busty Scars: Deep scar along the left side of her jaw, scarring around her wrists and fingers, scar tissue along her neck. Tattoos: Blue markings along her face; a thorny blue vine splayed down the back of her neck, along her right shoulder and twining around her right bicep Fashion: Spartan and street-tough; never goes anywhere without her kickin’ boots and a good jacket. Loves leather, loves fishnets, loves denim, loves spikes. Comfortable and not necessarily showy. Dark colors. Loves red; loves black. Not afraid to show off what she’s got. When she thinks she’ll need it she's outfitted in the one of the suits of heavy armor she custom-builds herself, varying from more mobile sets of light plate to bulky, gadget-augmented battle suits. Accessories: Kjalla wears a fair amount of jewelry, a lot of it worn and tarnished, suggesting it might have some sentimental value. Often seen with a smattering of dull gold and silver rings, earrings, and a bridge piercing with a pair of rubies at each end.
Tumblr media
Birthplace: the Golmore jungles somewhere. Residence: Her junk shop/personal safehouse off of a private jetty near Kugane. Alignment: Chaotic Evil Hobbies: Violence, rowdy nights out, any and every manner of indulgence, creating new weapons and gadgets for her armors, salvaging and experimenting with old junk, making and spending lots of gil Likes: Exciting experiences, adrenaline rushes, the opposite sex, the same sex, swapping stories, swapping punches, money, people with guts, alcohol, tinkering away Dislikes: Cowards, soft people, pretty things, lalafel, you if you get in her way. And chocobos. Disgusting things. Personality: Erratic and unconstrained, shifting wildly with her impulsive mood swings. One night you buy her a drink and you might flirt your way back to her junk-shop; the next she might put a round through your skull. More than anything she likes to surprise and be surprised, so always expect the unexpected. Always headstrong and often arrogant, and you should absolutely never tell her what to do. Ever. In spite of her crazed impulses, when she’s not in a bad mood Kjalla can be incorrigibly flirtatious, friendly, and fun to have a good night out with. Virtues: Strong, physically and emotionally; there’s very little that will break her, and she’s seen it all. Strong leadership instinct, whether through her charisma or force of character simply overwhelming others into following. Obsessively self-sufficient and fiercely independent. Determined and diligent when there’s work to do, and will not quit until she gets it done. Streetwise, clever, skilled; not conventionally smart but picks up new hands-on skills quickly. A fierce, experienced fighter. Unfailingly loyal to those who prove themselves worth it. Bad habits: The obvious - she’s utterly immoral, indulging in any behavior if it makes her feel good. Impulsive, reckless, violent, quick to anger and lash out at others. Heart hard as a rock and a firm believer in the survival of the fittest (the fittest, of course, being her). Trusts next to no one and will betray others save her closest circle if it helps her get ahead. Stubborn as hell. Promiscuous with little regard for whom it might hurt. Huge chip on her shoulder. Has a major problem with authority. Unintelligent by conventional standards, and completely dead to magic.
Tumblr media
Significant Other: *derisive laughter* Children: *even more incredulous laughter* Family: All presumed dead, except for her sister Eyrisse, from whom she is estranged. Pets: Linchpin and Electrode, her pair of baby coeurls, who live at her junk-shop. Their unique grounding and electrical powers help Kjalla with her electrical experiments.
Friends: People aren’t friends to Kjalla; they’re tools, things to be used, experienced and discarded. (Most of the time, anyway...)
Tumblr media
You might know Kjalla if...
Merciless Mercenary. Kjalla is a notoriously cutthroat sellsword, unscrupulous - more than willing and able to do any job big or small, just as long as kids aren’t involved. (That’s the one line she doesn’t cross.) From political leaders to petty thieves, she’s taken them all. Her race may paint her as a novelty - it’s not often you see a viera mercenary traipsing around the world, after all - but she’s no laughing matter. If you hire mercenaries, work with them, or are one yourself, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of her, under one of her assorted names - some flattering, some very much not.
Underworld Surgeon. Kjalla has no magical healing talent but she’s a darn good field surgeon, and has a great knowledge of alchemical remedies, salves and drugs. A ‘side-job’ of hers is to sell her services as a mundane healer to shady characters who, for fear of the law, of the attention, or otherwise - avoid visiting a reputable establishment for healing after an incident. Criminals on the run, overdose cases, just someone who wants to stay off the grid - if you’re in need of a quick patching-up and you’d rather keep it discreet, her junk-shop is always open.
Life of the Party. Kjalla is a staple in a few of her favorite seedy dives in cities across the world - and would certainly be recognizable to regulars, given scar-covered, foul-mouthed viera with backwater accents aren’t exactly easy to miss. If you frequent these kinds of establishments, you’ve no doubt heard of, seen, and maybe even gotten into a drunken brawl with her.
Purveyor of Dangerous and Exploding Things. Kjalla loves weapons - all of them, but especially guns, bombs, tasers, flamethrowers, dynamite, and weapons far more bizarre and exotic. If you’re a weapon collector, an arms dealer, or if you’re looking to outfit yourself with something significantly more dangerous, you’ve no doubt run in to back-alley gunrunners and smugglers who’ve mentioned her as a supplier. Conversely, if you’re searching for training in gunsmithing or engineering from a master, she might consider it... you’ll probably wind up dead, though, so maaaybe not a good idea... unless that’s your kink.
Garlean Killer: There’re few jobs Kjalla loves more than the ones where she gets to pop Garlean heads like grapes. Though one could scarcely call the viera a principled woman whose violence is politically sophisticated, she takes a perverse delight in torturing and killing agents of the empire, even if she’s not getting paid to do it. Naturally her reputation for murdering prominent officers, personnel, facilities, and stealing lots of Garlean technology has made her a notorious outlaw in the empire, and if you’re involved in any of those fields, you’d recognize her scarred visage anywhere. Just be careful - she really does love planting bullets right in those third eyes.
Tumblr media
Hi! I’ve been RPing forever and I’m lookin for new friends!
Adult female OOCly who’s RPed in every game you can probably think of and happy RPing lots of themes/scene types so long as we talk about it beforehand.
Kjalla is violent, rude, crude, and lustful. I however am (well, in my opinion, anyway...) none of those things, and am happy to talk with nice people! Just be aware most RP involving her’s gonna be one of those things, lol.
Available at random times, usually late evenings EST. Will always try to respond to private messages here no matter when you send them though!
Discord: I’m not on there very much, but I know it’s become a big way for a lotta people to do most of their OOC communication/RP threads so I’m willing to get on there if you wanna talk!
In-game: Anylissa Sebastis (Balmung) or Kjalla Nisemi (Mateus)
If you’re not into psychotic rabbit-ladies, I have my playful spoiled heiress, Anylissa, if you’d prefer. :>

Huntress of Darkness (Bard #2)
Mihri's Warrior of Darkness outfit.
Weapon: Verdant Shortbow
Head: Augmented Choral Chapeau (Soot Black)
Body: Serge Gambison of Aiming (Soot Black)
Hands: Antiquated Storyteller's Gloves
Legs: Kupo Trousers
Feet: Prototype Midan Boots of Aiming
I actually designed this glamour before the Stormblood canon one, while still on the free trial in Heavensward. I knew that the player character was going to be known as the "Warrior of Darkness" in Shadowbringers so I wanted to design an all-black look. I spent a lot of time browsing gear galleries while waiting for the game to go on sale, and this glamour didn't actually end up changing from my initial design at all.
The Chapeau was a given—I'd been wearing the color-swapped i90 version of it since I switched my main to Bard, and I was very excited to get the dyable version. I may drop a Jet Black dye on it at some point, but I still think that in most circumstances Soot Black works just fine. The Storyteller's Gloves are likewise a piece of Bard artifact armor that I'm unlikely to ever stop using. They're one of the few gloves in the game that actually resemble real archery gloves, and since Mihri is a ranger first and a bard second, having at least somewhat plausible archery gear is a key factor of any canon Bard glamour for her. That's also the reason for the Verdant Shortbow, though I'm considering moving away from it for fashion reasons for Endwalker!
The Gambison is a really nice piece, and it's the only crafted Stormblood top I've held onto. Once I actually had it, I decided it was too elaborate and metal-heavy to really work for Mihri's more casual ranger outfits, the sort she wears at home in the Black Shroud, but for a conveniently all-black more formal look that she changed into for the negotiations with Varis? It's perfect. I didn't realize until I got the actual item that the central panel is a very dark purple, not black, but it's still dark enough for a Huntress of Darkness and makes for a more interesting look overall.
The Kupo Trousers I picked up for this glamour, but they've become an absolute staple. They've got a really nice texture in their default color that sadly flattens when they're dyed, but I almost always use them in default black so it's fine. Every other piece of the outfit also has gold, so no other pair of black pants matched so nicely.
Finally, the Midan Boots are the only piece of this I actually got while still in Heavensward. They have gold and red, so they were the logical choice to match everything else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Actually, I do have a bit more to say there. I've always been a kneeboots person when it comes to fashion both irl and in fiction, a preference that can be blamed entirely on Star Wars. However, FFXIV actually doesn't have a lot of nice neutral boots at knee height! So I, and by extension Mihri, have become a thighboots person. But I hadn't developed that yet when designing this, and I still think the red makes these match better than the Ishgardian or Expeditioner's thighboots I might otherwise have used.

Fashion Headcanon
the fashion hc that no one asked for... (think college age)
Aang
Aang is all about comfort mixed with practicality and a hint of fashion/trendiness
Most days you’ll find him in athletic shorts or sweatpants in neutral tones like gray or white, with a plain tee
He also lives in his yellow high tops that are more dirt than yellow at this point. They’re super worn in and comfortable for him now, but it’s unusual to see him without them
But when he needs to dress up for events or dates or whatever, he likes to look nice but still casual
His idea of dressing up would be khaki pants (maybe joggers for casual dates) with a white button down/polo
One time he showed up to an event in his yellow converse so Katara got him some nice brown dress boots so he has /options/
You’ll also never find him in any cool tones, he loves warm colors (yellows, oranges, reds)
He’s overall a pretty happy and chill guy and that reflects in his clothing but he still has a grasp on what is acceptable in certain situations and definitely dresses appropriately
For the most part he just looks really snuggly and soft
Katara
Katara also really values comfort but she takes a little more pride in her appearance
For everyday wear she’ll usually wear jeans of some kind (usually distressed and mom style) but she’ll still look put together
If she’s wearing her blue jeans, she’ll pair them with a loose band tee that’s either cropped, tied in the front, or tucked in precisely (she loves showing the waist of her pants)
If she’s wearing black/white jeans, she’ll wear a blue shirt. She prefers navy and darker tones of blue but she has a quite a few in pastel as well
Sometimes the shirts are just tshirts, but sometimes they’re a little tighter and trendier to help her dress up the outfit
For the most part she lives in her doc martens, and she finds them to be both practical and adorable
However for fancier events she pops off
She’ll dress up in satin dresses that are navy and fall just below her knee or will wear white corduroy skirts with cute flowy tops
She has platform sneakers for when it’s not too fancy but she also has a lot of heels and sandals in neutral colors
Even though Katara does like to look good, because it makes her feel good, she isn’t too overly worried about her appearance
However in most people’s eyes, she never looks bad and walks with an effortless beauty that makes all her outfits look great
Sokka
Sokka lives for practical clothing
He wears basketball shorts almost every day (unless it’s cold and then he wears sweatpants) with a  hoodie or plain tee
While he’s not out naked, he definitely doesn’t really put that much effort into his day to day look
But honestly he doesn’t really need to because Sokka is a hottie who wows everyone he meets
But he also works out a lot and works with his hands, so practical clothing is generally the only thing he thinks is appropriate
When he’s working on something a little more hands on, he’ll wear denim to protect his skin and he doesn’t really care if they get ruined, because they’re his work pants
However when he dresses up… he is a stunner
He’ll wear form fitting pants that show off his toned thighs and butt. They’ll usually be either dark blue or black dress pants
He pairs that with a usually white (occasionally a lighter blue or black) dress shirt that is typically rolled up to his elbows but that’s good because his forearms
Despite the fact that he usually wears sneakers or boots every day, his shoe collection is pretty impressive because he’s a prepared man. So he wears nicer polo shoes or low cut brown boots to pull together the look
People never really expect Sokka to look as fine as he does at those events, because they’re used to seeing him very casual and comfy
But even though people think Sokka doesn’t care about his appearance, he does… he just doesn’t like to waste time on work/school days when he could sleep a little more
But when he can actually get dressed up, he kinda lives for it
For the most part, Sokka dresses how he pleases and doesn’t let others tell him what to do with himself
But he’s comfortable in his style and in his skin which makes him confident
Toph
Toph grew up with overbearing parents who dictated how she dressed, and so when she began to live on her own she really wanted to explore other styles and options
For a while she experimented with casual fancy styles like sundresses and skirts and such. And honestly she really likes them and thinks they’re cute, but not for day to day
She then evolved into more of a skater, tomboy look which she really rocks
She has a wide range of jean, khaki, and athletic shorts that she pairs with simple shirts
Her shirts are usually band tees, or plain colors and she really likes earth tones
She has likes oversized outerwear, like big flannels, hoodies, or bombers that kind of swallow her frame
She prefers shorts but when she wears pants, it’s usually sweatpants or yoga pants. She doesn’t like her bottoms to be too tight and restricting because she likes to have full range of motion, so if they’re tight they have to be stretchy
Also she kicks the bottom of all her shoes out so she can see (yes bending exists here and she’s blind bc I say so), but she mainly wears canvas sneakers like vans or low converses
Because she experimented early on with her outfits, when she has to dress up she really likes casual sundresses
Sometimes she’ll wear a jean skirt, but none of her dresses or skirts will be tight
She’s not necessarily trying to hid her body/curves but she’s just so much more comfortable in loose/flowy clothing and it still looks really good on her
Even at fancier events, she’ll wear sneakers because sandals don’t really work without bottoms and heels are a fat no
She has “nicer” sneakers that she keeps clean for those events but for the most part she has an excuse and a comeback to anyone who tries to diss her shoes
Like Sokka, she’s pretty comfortable in her clothing and doesn’t put too much effort into it
However, because of all the years she spent with her parents where she had zero options, it isn’t uncommon to see Toph trying the newest trends as soon as they come out, to see if she vibes with them or not
Zuko
Like Toph, Zuko was also forced to dress in a certain way due to his familial upbringing
In contrast though, he found a way to express himself through his clothes while still fitting into the expectations placed on him
Zuko lives in dark clothes. The only sense of color he has are dark red shirts/hoodies, one pair of grey sweatpants, and a deep navy shirt he stole from Sokka
Everything else is black
But that doesn’t mean they’re all boring and the same
A lot of his clothing has small details woven into the seams which shows that Zuko puts a lot of effort into the clothing he puts on
He mostly wears black jeans but he has a huge range of styles including skinny, distressed, boyfriend, baggy, and straight legged
He tends to focus on the bottom half more, styling his outfit around his pants and then pairing a simple tee
Kinda imagine an eboy vibe but more chill
He wears converses, vans, or other flat sneakers for the most part
When he needs to dress up, he still sticks to dark tones
His go to is black dress pants that are pretty tight and either a black or red button up
He has a few suits from growing up but he loathes them with a passion and prefers to look casual when dressing up
Zuko likes to put effort into his appearance because it helps channel his energy and he thinks that if he looks presentable, people will be less likely to judge him on his past or his scar
He gets pretty self-conscious and insecure when he tries new things, and it’ll take him a while to expand his closet into other styles
He’s comfortable with his look and he isn’t too keen on trying new things but he isn’t completely opposed
Suki
Suki, much like Katara, has this look of effortless beauty
However for her, she does put effort into her outfit pretty much everyday
She also wears earth tones for the most part, but her closet does have a large variety
On the day to day she’ll wear skinny jeans, yoga pants, or athletic shorts with a cute top
Though her clothes aren’t that fancy, she matches them all really well and her makeup is always impeccable
Her top selection is bigger and is made up of mostly cropped tees and tighter crop tops
However, her guilty pleasure is large sweaters and hoodies that she’s stolen from her guy friends and it’s pretty common to find her styling those with jeans and cute shoes
She also has a pair of red high tops, that much like Aang, she has worn down to the point where they’re more dirt than anything
And while she doesn’t wear them every day, they’re definitely a staple in her closet
But suki honestly lives for platform sneakers, they don’t have to be super tall but anything that gives her a little lift makes her that much more confident
When she dresses up, she shares a lot of the same styles with Toph
She really likes sundresses with sneakers, or rompers with sandals
However when she really has to get fancy, she’ll wear longer dresses that fall below her knee or all the way to the floor with a pair of heels and she’ll be feeling herself
Suki is overall pretty adventurous with her outfits, but she also knows what she likes
She’ll try the new trends and take suggestions from her friends, but she’s also not scared to say no and go comfy yet put together for a day
She’s one of those girls that kinda looks great in everything and people really wish they had her closet but half the time she’s borrowing things from friends to piece together outfits
Yue
Yue loves clothes
Simple as that
She grew up with money, but without the overbearing parents and she’s always had an affinity for dressing up and following the new trends as well as the older ones
She finds that waking up and making herself look good, gets her ready for the day and helps put her into the right headspace
She also lives for light pastels, typically of the cooler hues but sometimes she’ll venture into the pinks and reds
On the day to day she’ll wear either light blue or white bottoms (you name it: skirts, shorts, pants, whatever) and a plain shirt
A lot of her clothing has lace on it, it’s just something that Yue really likes
And all the light colors look amazing against her dark skin
She wears chunky sneakers or flats mostly, because they’re cute but also comfortable to walk in
She also usually has an accessory, whether it be a purse, sunglasses, or a cute bandana, she likes to add little things that pull her outfit together
She definitely looks better than most on the day to day because she really enjoys looking nice
However she still has the skill of not looking overdressed
When she dresses up, she looks ethereal
Like Katara, she likes satin and silk a lot because it’s comfy and soft and often falls effortlessly
She tends to wear dresses that are just at her knee or are tea length, and doesn’t really like floor length dresses
The only really short stuff she wears are her skirts and shorts
She also really likes heels when she’s dressing up, and a slit in her dress to show off her legs
She’s super confident in her style and definitely loves finding inspiration from her friends, strangers, magazines and wherever she can find it
She also always looks amazing, even when she is dressed casually
Azula
Surprisingly, Azula isn’t really that flamboyant with her style
She likes simple looks like jeans and tshirts or a simple dress
She, like Zuko, wears darker colors but has a plethora of pink in her wardrobe because of TyLee
On the day to day she’s often wearing simple black jeans, a band tee or just a hoodie with doc martens
People find it surprising because Azula comes across as a big personality, and she definitely is around her friends, but she just isn’t that interested in fashion
She prefers to focus her energy and time on self-care like her nails, hair, and skin
Both Mai and TyLee are into fashion so Azula does let them dress her up and down for fun, but for the most part she’s pretty simple
For dressing up, she’s very simple
She’ll wear either a black or red dress, usually that falls just above or just below her knee
She likes a straight neckline but has few options (strapless, halter, etc)
And she’ll pair the dress with a simple black heel, not too many straps
She does like tall heels, it helps with her confidence, but they aren’t very flashy
Despite her basic style, she does understand the importance of looking presentable and doesn’t usually wear baggy clothing
She’s found a pretty good balance between casual, basic, but still presentable
basically she doesn’t need a boisterous closet because she is very talkative and loud with her friends, so she doesn’t feel the need to overcompensate with her clothing or anything
Mai
in complete opposite to Azula, Mai LOVES showing her personality through her clothes
she isn’t very talkative and instead likes to show her mood with her outfits
though she does wear dark colors, she’ll experiment with others
when she’s feeling sad, she covers up. She likes long sleeves, even if they are mesh or transparent, and long jeans with boots
She’s a slut for peasant sleeves (but I mean… me too)
when she’s happy, she’ll wear red or pink. She’ll stick with either jeans or a jean skirt that’s dark but she’ll pair it with a baggy dusty pink or vibrant red shirt that she tucks in. she’ll also wear trendier sneakers on those days (but they’ll probably still be boots)
when’s she’s feeling really good or adventurous she’ll dress more colorful. The style itself is pretty basic: jeans and a shirt, but she’ll wear her blue mom jeans. She’ll pair it with her purple doc martens and a white shirt with a different colored jacket
however it’s the days that she wears sweats, leggings and hoodies that she receives the most attention. The attention is always from her friends because on those days, she’s either feeling very comfortable in her surroundings and they want to talk to her, or she’s had a shit day and they want to help her feel better
when dressing up, she likes to wear black with fun accents like buckles or ribbons or fun sleeves or zippers or lace or anything like that
she’s pretty tall, so she doesn’t often wear heels but she’ll wear fishnet tights and tuck them into some boots or she’ll wear flats
she does tend to wear clothes that are tighter and then pair them with baggy outerwear to offset the outfit
she does wear a lot of boots but she has them in a bunch of different colors for every emotion and outfit
people are pretty envious of her wardrobe and while she doesn’t really talk and isn’t that confident in herself, she’s always been sure of her style
she also really enjoys dressing her friends up and swapping styles to try to make new outfits
TyLee
TyLee also loves clothes
she’s pretty girly and used clothing from an early age to set herself apart from not only her sisters but also from society
in today’s terms she’d be a soft girl with a hint of vsco
there’s a lot of pinks, reds, purples, whites, and other pastels in her wardrobe
she tries to avoid dark tones because she thinks they wash her out
she’s also very bubbly and upbeat for the most part and likes to convey that in her outfits
she wears a lot of tennis skirts, plaid skirts, paper bag shorts, and other stuff that kinda looks like it came from a teen movie
she doesn’t really like pants but if she does wear them, they’ll be loose and typically have a paper bag waistline
and they’ll definitely be high waisted no matter what
her tops are typically crop top tanks or fuzzy sweaters that are just a tad too big
she also really likes to wear long cardigans and sweaters that fall below her hemline
every day she wears a white shoe
they’ll either be chunky sneakers, vans, sandals, high tops, or something else but they’ll definitely be white
people really don’t know how she keeps them clean
when she dresses up, she’ll wear tighter clothes but then offset them with a long or bigger jacket and sneakers
she hates heels
she thinks they are so uncomfortable and prefers sneakers or sandals
TyLee does like trying new stuff but she’s also really comfortable with her current style and isn’t that interested in trying a whole ton of new stuff
she also really likes dressing other people up, both in her own style and in theirs
she’s pretty confident in her clothes but her insecurities definitely bleed through sometimes, but she always tries to be happy no matter what and that definitely comes through in her clothes
hehe that’s it :)

Note
Serving up some LOOKS! I love Mylene's Ivan sweatshirt! Would you be willing to talk about what sort of style elements you use for each character? (If you already have and I haven't found it, please ignore the question, that's on me)
I mostly did this for Mendeleiev’s class back when Punch was starting Leave for Mendeleiev, and I did a small run down for how the Main 5 fashion will change in Scarlet Lady, but not Bustier’s class sooooo:
Marinette -[I’m copy/pasting from an earlier ask]- When she likes a color, she sticks with it. She has a versatile wardrobe, but pink must always be present. She has the hardest to nail style because she experiments all the time, but no matter what she doesn’t feel comfortable unless she has an outer layer. Summer, Winter, Shorts, Pants, she needs to the comfort of a jacket - for Tikki to hide in when her purse isn’t appropriate.
Adrien -[Also C/P]- Basic B*tch. He thinks he’s fancier than he is. Oh sure, his clothes are well tailored to him and fit well, but they’re basic as hell. Gabriel isn’t as “innovative” as he thinks he is. Most of his clothes have the Gabriel logo and he sticks to the brand…because Adrien has no fashion sense whatsoever. Oh, he knows in theory what works and can put an outfit together, but he doesn’t want to. If it were up to him, he’d wear tshirts with physics puns and cat themed jackets. But alas, when one is an icon…
Alya -[C/P]- Mom Vibes. Fashion is not her priority. She knows enough to do good for her figure, but otherwise can’t really be bothered. Flannels and jeans in varying heights and a snappy tshirt are all she needs. But she is drawn to things that remind her at least of superheroes or superpowers. Her ridiculous high tops with the spiky tongue? She thinks it makes her look fast. She’s also the one who’s going to embarrass Marinette by wearing trendy but “garbage” fashion: fanny packs, Jellies, ugs with sweatpants. Dammit Alya, you’re a beautiful human being, do you mind NOT dressing like a hobo on vacation?! (Secretly her favorite outfits are from Martinique, but she saves them for special occasions).
Nino -[C/P]- Precious trash goblin. Wash your shirts and the neckline won’t be so worn out! He likes graphic tees with his favorite bands and DJs logos on them (he’s partial to ones without the name of the band or DJ so he can find other fans) and prefers things to be loose. He’s also drawn to colors and he’s super chill when his “garbage” girlfriend rolls up to a date looking like she’s going to an amusement part with her four kids, because it means she can’t dump on him for not looking “put together” (she would never!). He’ll try to dress up every now and then for a fancier date or when Adrien manages to snag him a spot at an event with him, but it’s pretty clear he’s uncomfortable without his hat and headphones. He has a few Moroccan outfits that he brings out in the Summer.
Chloe - Expensive Fashion Forward Chic. She made a staple out of shaming anyone else who dared to wear her favorite color yellow over the years. She was extremely smug about being the first in her grade to experiment with makeup that she never bothered to get good at it. Her clothes are expensive with just a smidge of impractical - only someone with cash to burn would constantly wear white pants! She’s also the kind of person to put off dressing for the cold as long as she can- if she puts on all these jackets and layers, how will these peasants see my brand name clothes underneath?! A lot of her fashion decisions are based on long forgotten advice from her mother - gold over silver jewelry, always have something on your head, brand or nothing. She’ll only abandon a well worn trend if her mother directly contradicts it.
Sabrina - Nerdy, geeky, almost like she’s wearing a uniform. She’s preparing to be Chloe’s assistant best friend for life so she has to look the part. She’s long abandoned any hope of shining next to Chloe, so being flashy and showy is out of the question. Luckily, Chloe isn’t drawn to patterns, so that’s a field of fashion that Sabrina can claim for her own. Doesn’t matter where it is, something she’s wearing needs to have a pattern. Leggings are her favorite accessory and she’s taken to collecting Chat Noir merch (though it’s less out of admiration for the hero himself and more for her “role” with Chloe. It reminds her of the rare times when Chloe acts like they’re friends.)
Mylene - Bohemian, and a touch artsy. Peace is important to her and her vibe reflects that. She’s not super up for showing a lot of skin, but neither are a lot of girls in her class. She leans towards a muted color palette so that her hair doesn’t clash, though she usually tries to match one piece of clothing to some color in her hair. Her accessories are a bit childish and kitchy, like her monster head bead, and she has a huge collection of hair accessories, like bandannas and headbands. She has a lot of different passions with various levels of seriousness, so she’ll come to Marinette for advice on how to use her wardrobe to fit the level of professionalism she wants.
Alix - Sporty but on the lazier side. Fashion is such an anti priority. She’s the one Marinette will go to for her more out there ideas because she has no recoil to pants made of buckles or shapeless over shirts, but that’s as far as it goes. Her clothes are made to be weather resistant and easy to slip on (and so that her dad won’t be pissed if she wipes out and rips something). If it were up to her, she’d just shop out of thrift stores and pick out all the color blocked 80s windbreakers, but when your whole squad is held together by a fashion designer, you can only get away with so much. Her nicest clothes are made by Marinette for her professional races and competitions and her favorites have nods to Egypt mythology and history.
Ivan - Punk but like…beginners guide to punk. Let’s be honest, when you’re built like a brick house, shopping is hard - or at least not that much fun. Ditto when you’re a dude that just…doesn’t particularly care. Ivan has a bunch of cargo pants because they fit, they’re grungy, and they’re practical. SO MANY POCKETS!!! Beyond that, like Nino, he prefers to wear band shirts of his favorite groups. His hiking boots are the nicest things he owns and he has a few bracelets that he only brings out when he’s “dressing up”. The most colorful thing he owns is a hoodie/pants set from the Cartoon Monster Show that Mylene’s hair bead is modeled after.
Kim - Sporty and Serious. Sweatpants and running shoes. That’s the make of his wardrobe. After all, you need to be able to challenge anyone to a race at ANY TIME!! Dressing up for him means putting on a pair of jeans, and he’s pretty much always under dressed but also completely oblivious to the fact. Red is his favorite color and he’s partial to that one brand of sports wear that’s on his hoodie-shirt and sweatband. If something is waterproof (and therefore, sweatproof) he’ll give it a try AS LONG AS IT’S REEEEED!!!
Max - Geek Fashion. Max dresses like he’s already 65 years old, and with his best friend being Kim? He might be. He has invested in some good walking shoes because when your bestie is running off at any and every moment, you gotta do SOMETHING to keep up. His pants are higher up than most guys and his shirts are always tucked in. He prefers sweaters over sweatshirts and cardigans to jackets. We are comfortable in this house, not trendy!
Juleka - Electro Goth. Black is the main attraction, but she likes that punch of something neon - purple, green, even blue (Rose can tell she’s feeling romantic when she puts on some pink). She’s tall and likes clothes that accentuate that and she’s a fan of the details - shoulder cuts, lace inserts, epaulets. And despite covering half her face, she’s really into makeup (and she’s way better than Chloe). Does she have colored contacts? She’ll never tell.
Rose - Decora Kei is probably the best shortcut to describing her look, followed by Kawaii Fashion. Doesn’t matter if she burns to look at, she IS the embodiment of soft and cute! Obviously pink is her favorite color, bu she also likes pairing it with some other bright colors. Rainbows. Are. EVERYTHING. And she’s a sucker for bunnies and strawberries and angel wings ^^! How else is she supposed to have an amazing day if she’s not decked out in sunshine?!
Nathaniel - Basic but like Colorful Basic. He definitely hopped the skinny jeans phase and will continue to do so until he finally grows a bit. He holds onto clothes pretty long because there’s only so many times you can buy new shirts after getting paint and charcoal on them before you just stop caring. He aims for durability instead of fashionable, but also collects clothes with the logo from the show he likes. (And no one knows about his secret Ladybug merch collection that he only wears around his house).
Lila - Gyaru was the search term I used. She’s one of the few with a not super saturated color palette, sticking to dark neutrals. She’s drawn to patterns, like polka dots and zebra prints, and tries to balance it with neutral colors. Plus anything that makes her seem “exotic” and foreign and more interesting, she’ll wear (as long as it’s stylish enough for her.) She cleverly toes the line between fashionable and trashy, showing just enough skin or using a just flashy enough pattern. Every piece she wears she’s crafted a whole story around how she got it, like her bracelets being a gift from street kids in Belize or her earrings being a prize she won when impressing an East Asian Prince.

@faithchel  and @scarlettkat86  were kind enough to tag me waaaaay back for this one (thank you both! <3), and after nearly losing this twice to Tumblr eating the draft, I can finally post it. *phew*
Tagging: @sharky-broshaw @amistrio @foofygoldfish @shallow-gravy @ma-sulevin @teamhawkeye @guileandgall @painterofhorizons @fadedjacket @redroci @lxmbert @princess-underthemountain @mackie-hattwie @words-and-seeds @geronimo-11 @stvnningstrike @raisinghellinotherworlds @shelliechen @hawkfurze  and anyone else that’s interested! And if you’ve already completed this, don’t mind me at all, unless you’ve got another OC you’d love to share. :D
Deputy Hana Vao
Tumblr media
LAYER 01: THE OUTSIDE
NAME: Hana Vao
EYE COLOUR: Dark brown, almost black.
HAIR STYLE / COLOUR: Auburn hair tied back in a low messy bun. She doesn’t have the patience to put in any bobby pins and try to smooth it out, especially when her hair’s wavy enough to try to escape on its own. So, it’s quick, it gets it out of the way, and it’s easy enough to fix if it ever falls out.
HEIGHT: 5′6″!
CLOTHING STYLE: Jeans, t-shirts, boots/sneakers, and her red motorcycle jacket are outfit staples. She likes to dress in a combo of comfortable and functional, but with a bit of the punk/rocker vibe going on. Also, at least one of the articles of clothing’ll have red, because she can’t go a day without having her favorite color on her or with her.
BEST PHYSICAL FEATURE: She’d guess her eyes (all while batting her lashes exaggeratedly), but others would say her smile. It’s something that she’ll do easily without thinking or holding it back, and it’s hard to find her without one. Over time they start to become a little more infrequent, but if anyone’s able to get a smile out of her, it’s never a small thing. It’ll be bright and paired with a laugh, as she lights up completely.
LAYER 02: THE INSIDE
FEAR:  That she’s the one to break and ruin things by getting involved. That people are worse off for knowing her.
GUILTY PLEASURE: Period dramas/romance flicks. They’ll have her on the edge of her seat, and if she reaches for your hand during a critical moment, she’ll have a death-grip on it too. It’s all in the high drama, man. It gets her, bad.
BIGGEST PET PEEVE: Anyone talking over her or down to her, and ignoring her input. Being told she doesn’t care.
AMBITIONS FOR THE FUTURE: Finding stability. Finding home, and a place she wouldn’t mind waking up in every day. Knowing she has a job where she’s able to be useful, and knowing that she has people she can depend on for help if needed, and that she trusts enough to want to reach out to.
In the short term? To not royally fuck up any of this any further. To get to tomorrow, and have it be a safer, happier one.
LAYER 03: THOUGHTS
FIRST THOUGHTS WAKING UP: *slaps at the alarm clock* Oh Jesus, no. Just five more minutes...
WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT MOST: Where to head to next, what’s the news looking like up north, east, west? More than a few of her ridiculous movies to help illustrate the plans she’d like to pull off next. How ridiculous Sharky is, and how much she loves him for it. How much of an asshole John is and how she needs to start charging him rent if he’s going to stick around in her thoughts like this
WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT BEFORE BED: What to do tomorrow. How she really hopes a spider won’t crawl into her bag. How Grace’s is doing, if she’s resting enough. *once in bed* How Sharky’s able to snore so damn loud, and put off so much heat. Just a rambling stream of things that tend to cover all bases, as her brain slowly shuts itself off.
WHAT THEY THINK THEIR BEST QUALITY IS: Being able to put a smile on someone’s face. To take their mind off of what’s concerning them even for a little while, and she’ll make an absolute fool of herself if she has to. And if they don’t feel like sharing or saying anything at all? She’ll be there to offer a shoulder if they need it.
LAYER 04: EITHER OR
SINGLE OR GROUP DATES: Both she’s great with, but one-on-one movie dates she’s the most fond of. She has to be able to watch at least one bad movie with them, and it’s the only way to be sure.
TO BE LOVED OR RESPECTED: She wants both, but if she’s not respected, there isn’t enough love in the world to substitute for it.
BEAUTY OR BRAINS:  She’s got a weakness for a pretty face, but intelligence can be equally hot to her too. Just as long as the person in question doesn’t use it as an excuse to be an insufferable dick.
DOGS OR CATS: Dogs are adorable to her, but she’s weak for cats. There’s a good chance that if you have a cat, she’ll at one point be on the floor, reaching out them cautiously, hoping they’ll approach her only to have someone walk in on her.
LAYER 05: DO THEY
LIE: Yes, and when she does it’s mostly lying by omission.
BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES: She’s working on it. Her friends and family believe in her, though, and that’ll have to do for now.
BELIEVE IN LOVE: Yes. She’ll crack jokes and downplay her feelings, but she’s a romantic at heart, and believes in it enough to give her heart a proper beating in the process.
WANT SOMEONE: Yes. Much as it hurts for a while going in either direction, and much as she didn’t plan on any of it, period.
LAYER 06: HAVE THEY
BEEN ON STAGE: Oh yeah, and if it’s a karaoke stage, it’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when.
DONE DRUGS: Only a handful. She sticks to cigarettes and alcohol as her main vices.
CHANGED WHO THEY WERE TO FIT IN: When Hana was younger, she’d often try new things in the hopes of catching the eye of anyone she admired, but never was able to change the core of what she was like or about. That led to more rejections than she would’ve liked, and in some cases, taking more risks in the hopes of impressing them.
LAYER 07: WHAT’S THEIR
FAVORITE COLOR: Red. Whenever she wears it she feels like she can take on the world.
FAVORITE ANIMAL: She loves cats, and red animals in general – cardinals and foxes, plus goldfish and koi, because orange is cool too, darn it.
FAVORITE BOOK: If pressed (and a little inebriated) she’ll admit it’s Pride and Prejudice, though she’s only seen adaptations of it. She always meant to start it someday, but doesn’t get a chance to until years down the line.
(John somehow unearths a copy in the bunker and gives it to her. Which she starts, but then persuades him to switch off on chapters as he reads to her, and it’s a hell of a lot easier to get him to do it than she anticipates)
FAVORITE GAME: To limit it to a few: Truth or Dare, a million card games (including Strip Poker), Pictionary, and Charades.
LAYER 08: AGE
DAY THEIR NEXT BIRTHDAY WILL BE: Oct 6th.
HOW OLD THEY WILL BE: (at the start of FC5) 32!
LAYER 09: I…
I LOVE: “Cheesy 80s flicks, a night in with some pizza and friends or a date, riding on my bike, just...” *sighs happily* “All of the above.”
I FEEL: “Tired. So damn tired. ...But that’s the lack of coffee talking, so if you could point me towards the nearest source I’d really appreciate it.”
I HIDE: *someone points out a huge mottled bruise poking up past the collar of her shirt and Hana tugs at her shirt to cover more*
“Hmm? Oh, that? It’s nothing. Yeah, I know it looks bad, but you should see the other guy.”
I MISS: “…My mom. I don’t think that’ll ever change.”
I WISH: “I hadn’t been such a stupid kid at times. I wasn’t thinking, just...” *she pauses, and chews on her lip as she stares at the ground* “I don’t know. I should’ve been better. Done more. Been more.”

Women's European Fashion
Tumblr media
After living in Paris for nearly two years, I’m still amazed at how well European women dress. It is rare to see anyone who isn’t well-dressed — even if they’re just buying some milk from the grocery store. We lived down the block from an elementary school and every day we’d see moms with high heels and skirts pushing their strollers down the street.
That’s why I thought I would share some of my women’s European fashion observations from living in Paris and from my travels throughout Europe. Hopefully, these fashion tips will help you choose which clothes to bring on your next trip and give you an idea of how to dress like a European.
Note: Most of my observations are from Paris since this is where I’ve lived the most, but Parisians are considered some of the best-dressed people in Europe, so they are a good group to take fashion advice from.
The Golden Rules for Women’s European Fashion
Honestly, there are no “rules” and there really isn’t a true “European” fashion. You’ve probably heard that Parisians only wear black, but if you walk around the streets of Paris you’ll see fashionable people wearing all kinds of colors.
That’s why this guide will highlight the general fashion trends that I’ve observed but I urge you to add your own personal style into your clothing choices. My main goal is to give you a taste of European fashion and to provide you with some ideas of what you might want to wear when you visit.
It’s All About The Fit
People assume Europeans look great because they have closets full of designer clothes but this isn’t completely true. They may have a few higher-end items, but they shop at H&M, Zara, Mango, Gap, Topshop, and other multinational shops just like the rest of us. The secret is that they purchase clothes that fit well — and if the fit isn’t quite right, then they’ll get their clothes tailored. I feel that it’s much more common to have small alterations done in Europe and those little changes make the clothes fit better.
Keep it Simple
European women keep their wardrobes simple and classic. They choose timeless pieces that don’t scream for attention. Then they’ll add a bright accessory (scarf, shoes, jewelry, etc) to bring the outfit together. I also saw a lot of contrasting pieces used together — like pairing a slightly oversized, chunky sweater with a tight skirt or skinny jeans.
Skinny Jeans
Jeans are a staple of any European wardrobe. Most women I saw wore skinny or slim jeans. In general, they mostly wore dark jeans without a wash or with a minimal wash (i.e., only a small amount of distressing). Grey jeans are also a popular choice. But Europeans don’t just wear black and grey, so don’t be afraid to wear a pair of bright red jeans/trousers.
Effortless Hair
European women have an amazing ability to have great looking hair that looks effortlessly natural. I have no idea how they do it, but it seems like they don’t fuss with it too much — it wouldn’t surprise me if they roll out of bed and just tousled it with their hands. Long hair is definitely in-style, so start growing! When you’re visiting Europe, just throw your hair into a sleek high ponytail or a messy bun and be on your way. Check out this post by Hair on the Brain for some tips on how to create the perfect messy bun.

It’s All About The Shoes
Europeans live in shoebox-sized apartments but they still manage to have an amazing collection of great shoes.
European women, especially city-dwellers, live in high heels. But beware… these fashionistas have years of practice navigating cobblestone streets and tricky city sidewalks, so you might find yourself really struggling if you choose to wear a pair of sexy stilettos. Wedges are also a very popular and a bit more practical option since they offer extra walking surface.
No shoe collection is complete without a few pairs of boots. During the winter, you’ll see tall leather boots everywhere, but cute ankle boots are a popular choice during the rest of the year. Check out our guide to Best Waterproof Boots for Women to some cute and comfortable boots.
When the weather gets warm, it’s time to break out the lightweight shoes. Strappy leather sandals, flats, loafers, and casual sneakers are all great choices.
That said… if you’re going to be traveling to Europe, I suggest leaving the uncomfortable shoes at home. But that doesn’t mean you need to bring ugly running shoes. I suggest a pair of cute sneakers, flat boots, and a pair of comfortable sandals. If you do bring a pair of impractical shoes for going out, make sure they’re not going to kill your feet (blisters are no fun). Also, remember that a quality set of Superfeet insoles can make shoes more comfortable.
Check out our guide to travel shoes for some examples of fashionable and comfortable sneakers, boots, sandals, and more.

Show Off Some Leg
European women love to show off their legs. Tights, stockings, and pantyhose are year-round wardrobe staples. Even in the winter, you’ll see plenty of women wearing above-the-knee skirts and stockings.
Trench Coats
A classic trench coat is a chic way to look amazing during those cold and rainy European winters.
It’s In The Bag
Whether it’s a tote, messenger bag, or purse, you can’t leave the house without a cute bag. A bag is a great accessory for adding a little extra color or style to an outfit.
Tip: Thwart pickpockets by making sure your bag has a zipper. Learn more about Pickpockets in Europe.

Get In-touch With Your Feminine Side
European women are not afraid of embracing their femininity. They wear silk, lace, and other fine fabrics. So break out those feminine, flowy dresses on a sunny summer day.
Neutral Like Switzerland
While it isn’t a hard-and-fast rule, many Europeans tend to dress in dark and neutral colors. Of course, you’ll see plenty of colors so don’t feel like you need to dress like you’re at a funeral — but when in doubt, choose neutral colors.
And dressing in neutrals also makes packing for travel easier since everything you bring coordinates.
Easy On The Makeup
I find that European women prefer a natural look when it comes to applying cosmetics. They’ll just use the basics and don’t overdo it. But the one thing they seem to love is lipstick — especially the Parisians. Bright red lipstick is a favorite and you’ll see women wearing it all around the city.
Check out my Guide To Skincare, Makeup and Beauty Essentials For Travel for more insight into my travel skincare routine.
Cool Shades
I was always amazed at the eyewear that Parisians were sporting — And they almost always wore designer frames. Thick 70s style frames are a classic choice. I love my Warby Parker sunglasses if you’re looking for something stylish and affordable.
Never Sweats or Running Shoes
In Paris, I never saw Parisians wearing sweats and running shoes in public — unless they were actually exercising. It was only the tourists who wore them around. Just don’t do it.
That said, there is nothing wrong with fashionable sneakers! In fact, you’ll see plenty of European women sporting Nike, New Balance, Adidas, etc.
Check out our guide to travel shoes for some examples of fashionable and comfortable sneakers.
Where To Find Fashion Inspiration
I’ve found that the best way to see European style is by browsing popular European fashion retailers. Below are a few high-end and budget retailers that I’ve used for fashion inspiration.
Practical Packing & Travel Fashion Tips
As you’ve probably figured out, looking fashionable while traveling is never easy because you don’t have a lot of room in your luggage to pack much clothing. So, unless you have a team of people to carry around your luggage, you’re going to be picky about what you bring. That’s why in this section you’ll find some practical packing tips for staying fashionable while traveling in Europe and I’ll include some recommended travel clothing.
For more in-depth packing tips check out our Travel Europe Packing List for a ton more information.
Try Packing Light
Being fashionable and packing light doesn’t always mix but it’s important to be smart about what you pack because lugging a huge suitcase around Europe is a terrible experience. Of course, if you take taxis everywhere then things become easier.
I’m not saying you absolutely need to limit yourself to a carry-on size piece of luggage but you’ll be happier without a monster-sized suitcase.
General Clothing Tips
Recommended Travel Clothing and Brands for Women
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Travel Clothing from Betabrand, Athleta, Prana, and Anatomie
There are a number of brands that make clothing specifically for travel. They use special fabrics that are durable, resist wrinkles, help prevent odors, and are also fashionable.
Travel Tops, Dresses, and Bottoms Brands
It’s hard to find fashionable travel clothing but these brands offer some cute options (although some of the stuff still looks a little “outdoorsy” so you might need to search a bit). Will you look like you’re shopping at Dior? No. But you won’t look like you’re hiking a mountain or just coming back from yoga class.
Travel Socks and Underwear
Travel Shoes
Ahh, shoes… they’re one the hardest things to pack. I try to limit myself to two pairs but sometimes I take three. It’s impossible to narrow it down to the “best” shoes but I’ll list a few brands/options that I really like. Also, check out our guide travel shoes for more recommendations.
BENSIMON sneakers are super cute and casual sneakers that are popular in Europe. I’ve seen lots of trendy Parisians wearing them during the summer. These shoes are a bit hard to find in the US but Superga and Keds both make shoes in a very similar style —so they’re a great alternative that’s also easy to find.
Nike and New Balance are popular all over the world and both companies make plenty of fashionable sneakers.
Ecco also makes some surprisingly cute and super comfortable sneakers — especially their Soft VII shoes.
You’ve probably already heard of Allbirds shoes. They’re made of wool — which sounds kind of weird but it actually works well. They are comfortable and you can wear them without socks (one of the benefits of wool is odor prevention). And they are crazy lightweight so they’re easy to pack away. They come in multiple colors and cost $95. Available via Allbirds.
They also have their new Tree Skippers that are made from sustainably harvested eucalyptus pulp so they’re a bit cooler/breezier than their wool counterparts.
Even athletic shoes can be fashionable — check out the Nike Flex, Nike Free, New Balance Arishi and the Adidas Running and Adidas Originals series. All of these are sporty and fashionable.
A nice pair of comfortable flats is a nice option since they take up very little room and they look a little nicer than sneakers. The Born Julianne is a pair I own because they look nice, provide decent arch support, and come in multiple colors.
Packing Accessories & Luggage
And once you have all your stuff, it’s time to get it all packed.
First, I love packing cubes because it’s the best way to keep everything organized and they also help keep your clothes wrinkle-free. Check out our guide to Packing Cubes for more details about using packing cubes but my favorite is the Eagle Creek Pack-It Cubes.
Next, you’ll need luggage — either a suitcase or a travel backpack. As I mentioned before, you want to make sure you don’t pick something so large that you can’t actually carry it around. Below are a few options that should work well for any trip around Europe.
Check our picks for the best travel backpacks.

Golden Goose Outlet engagement
Chic winter shoes can seem like an oxymoron. When temperatures drop, we're not eager to reach for stilettos because come snowfall, moon boots are about as sexy as we're getting. Thankfully on the runways of Prada, Bottega Veneta, and others, designers prioritized functional footwear and didn't sacrifice style.
The silhouette's base is made of the brand's existing pointed flat, but the new style sees two ribbons added to either side of the shoe. And who knows, maybe the next time Rihanna hosts a party at Bergdorf Goodman, there could be people passing out pieces of paper with her perfume on it.
You know what you can always wear on your birthday? she asks rhetorically. The dress, designed by Mary Katrantzou, featured a striking geometric pattern that included a beautiful detail that was easy to miss: it was printed with "Lizzo" in glitter text down the side.
Just make sure to add the code on the checkout page below the payment option before you hit buy. The formula behind The Lyst Index takes into account global Lyst and Google search data, conversion rates and sales, as well as brand and product social media mentions and Golden Goose Outlet engagement statistics worldwide over a three month period, the report reads.
There is one exception we'll make for non-practical shoes this winter, and that's because it's finally party season. If perhaps that aesthetic felt a little stiff in earlier drops, the strictness has been let out here, with slouchy army jackets, quilted cargo pants, and asymmetric sweaters emphasizing a more laid-back mood.
Since the modern bride tends to change her wedding look-there's a dress for the ceremony, reception, and sometimes even the afterparty-these outfit changes can call for new footwear too. Call it revolutionary, or maybe it's simply an era when practical fashion outweighs tradition, but brides today are swapping out pretty party shoes for something unexpected and much more casual: the wedding sneaker.
U.S. Look back through Vogue Runway's galleries of the Spring 2019 season, and you'll find a lot of sandals that imitate the look of Tevas. Once reserved strictly for the gym, workout shoes have been elevated to a legitimate fashion staple; we see them on the runway every season, and celebrities have even worn them to red-carpet and black-tie events.
The lug sole continues the hiking trend that kicked off last year, coupled with this season's obsession with all things goth. My thought process when I notice it https://www.newgoldengoose.com/ looks rainy outside and I have a run scheduled typically looks something like this: Yuck.

WALLABEES, CREEPERS! I’m OBSESSED!!.
Clark’s wallabees are back and this creeper is here for it!
Since the Neanderthals walked the earth, humans have relied on fashion to define their image or others’ perception of them. Throughout the different eras of civilization, different shoes have been the staple statement of high fashion. Sandals in ancient Egypt, pointed shoes in medieval Europe, and today, from the Chelsea boots to the obsession inciting dad sneakers, shoes are the foundation on which a lot of people build their image and express their style.
Times in fashion and style have evolved so much that you can literally wear any style of garment you want and turn heads now. It’s a matter of having the right audience for your style. Fashion and style are no longer a singular idea. My thing for some time now has been adding creeper soles to footwear. Creeper soles give formal shoes a kind of different look and morph them so they can be paired with any outfit to give the identical vibe sneakers would.
I have personally customized two of my favourite shoes to creepers(a style of shoe which has thick crepe soles); one black Giorgio Brutini work boot, now with red creeper soles, and the other is a Cole Haan black patent leather derby with suede markings which I added a black creeper sole to. I’ve rocked these footwears on any outfit and it sparked a great sense of total accomplishment in my style until I found myself a pair of burnt orange wallabies. My jaw drops every time I look at myself in the mirror before leaving the house. Piggyback when I said I love creeper soles, seeing a naturally inspired, well detailed original creeper took me off balance. I got the same exciting feeling from these as I get from wearing the Nike air force one sneakers. It has a different vibe to it though, man! It’s so fire! There is this gratified sense of style I feel when I put on shoes with creeper soles (no I’m not short, I’m 6.1, so please don’t reach). There are various footwears with creeper soles, like the Brothel creepers, Rihanna’s Fenty Puma Creeper and a whole lot more. Most recently though, I have found a new obsession; WALLABEES!!!
To buttress my obsession with wallabees, I present to you THE CLARK’S WALLABEES and why I’m excited about the idea of them coming back into style.
The Clark Wallabees is a natural-born creeper sole shoe and has been part of Clark’s core offering since 1967. Wallabees are classic, timeless, and comfortable. Clark’s Wallabee has been some-what of a staple pop-culturally relevant product and has been infused into music, art and even high fashion. It’s been successfully exported around the world since the time the shoe was first picked in the early 1990s.
In 1993, a New York-based hip-hop/rap crew Wu-Tang Clan even rapped about Wallabees.
Clark’s is famous around the world foremost for the quality and timelessness of its footwears and to be honest, Wallabees are its less-known offerings. However, the shoe has a huge influence on the brand among niche fashion communities, especially its original Wallabee silhouette. Notable personalities like Lebron James, Drake, Pharell Williams, Kanye West, David Beckham and Ellen Degeneres are known to have sported these sexy creepers.
With one of the most select fanbases in footwear, Clarks has managed to connect with various subcultures the world over since its inception, with different iterations of their signature crepe-sole synonymous with different style tribes.
There are tonnes of major collaborations with Clark’s Wallabees, and streetwear giants, supreme are the most recent with a paisley collection. Supreme reworked Clarks Originals classic Wallabee silhouette with a water- and stain-resistant GORE-TEX suede upper and a lightweight Vibram sole.
The Wallabees is here to stay, pair it up with virtually any outfit and watch your jaw drop.

Requested Perrie Inspired Bodysuits
PrettyLittleThing BLACK MESH BUSTIER SEAM DETAIL THONG BODYSUIT: £15. Bodysuits, You either love them or loathe them. Once a rare thing, Now they are apart of every girls wardrobe. The bodysuit has become a staple in fashion over the past decades, The design which initially was seen as a under garment and only to be worn under clothing is now worn on it`s own in all of it`s glory. Moving on from that little history lesson and lets get into this post shall we. So Perrie`s bodysuits...When i did my research I found she liked neutral colours in her bodies, Throughout this post you will find inspiration and where those inspirations came from so please continue reading. I chose this first bodysuit as it was inspiration from when she wore a very similar one when they performed Reg Lento with CNCO on X Factor, Although you can`t really see hers, hers was customised with embellishment and sequins. However, Hers still had the same material and style more or less. This bodysuit unlike some others is daring, It`s showing a little more skin then some would like too, Whether you have big or small boobs this will cater your cleavage.
ASOS DESIGN basic microfibre high leg bodysuit: ÂŁ6.86. Now this bodysuit is more covered up but is still a little daring. Back when Little Mix was guest performing for Ariana Grande on the Dangerous Woman tour, Perrie was seen wearing a very similar bodysuit to the one pictured above. Albeit I think hers came from ASOS as well, This could very well be the exact one. Although it may look more like a swimsuit rather then a bodysuit, it features a small plunge so doesn`t so much cleavage, It doesn`t look as though it will cut into your crutch like 99% of bodysuits do and last but not least just like Perrie`s it has some side boob.
MissGuided black strappy non-wired lace panel bodysuit: ÂŁ23.75. More recently Perrie has been wearing bodysuits showing more skin, From the salute era she used to cover up and hide her shoulders, cleavage, chest and arms, But now she has more confidence she is starting to adventure and show more. Over the recent few years she`s been seen sporting lace bodysuits, mostly from Victoria Secret and I understand not everyone would feel comfortable in VS lingerie. But that doesn`t mean you get to miss out, You can go to the HS and buy one straight out of a shop without getting glared at by one of the VS girls. Lots of sites on the internet and in the high street have lace bodysuits for sale just like Perrie`s, Lots come in different shapes, sizes, styles and colours, so plenty to choose from. Be warned though, Some of these bodysuits do come with a padded bra and some wiring. You can wear these bodysuits either up or down, Casually wear it with a long waterfall grey coat, baker boy hat with some jeans and boots or for a night out you can wear it with a black leather skirt, heels and your good to go.
PrettyLittleThing BLACK RIB PLUNGE SHORT SLEEVE BODYSUIT: £10. Next up is something more casual and not so daring like the other bodysuits we have seen, I took inspiration from a outfit Perrie wore a long time ago at a radio station. She wore a American Apparel bodysuit in a t-shirt design, similar to this one. This is the closet I could find to that one. Don`t disarray though, This bodysuit like many of the others comes in a wide range of colours.
PrettyLittleThing PLUS BLACK POLKA DOT MESH BODYSUIT: £15. As i`ve mentioned before back in the salute era Perrie wore a lot of bodysuits, she wore a lot that had embroidery, patterns and mesh. This bodysuit resembles that and of one she wore for a rugby game once. In fact it`s identical, Different from the others it`s playful and fun and also daring too. Unfortunately, embroidered black bodysuits don`t seem to be a thing nowadays and you would find few about. What`s also unfortunate is that this bodysuit is only available for plus size.
Boohoo Petite Pattern Detail Mesh Bodysuit: £7.60. Like above, this bodysuit resembles the ones she wore in the Salute era.  Because it has a big pattern on the front doesn`t mean you should go topless though, Better to be on the safe side.
Topshop Lace Trim Strappy Bodysuit: £19. I took inspiration from when she had a night out with Leigh with this bodysuit, I think it`s identical. The only difference being is that Perrie`s was navy.
MissGuided red strappy non-wired lace cupped panel bodysuit: £20. Who remembers that iconic night she stepped out in ravishing red with Alex on her arm? I think we all looked on in awe at her on that night. She wore a bodysuit from Victoria Secret which I believe is no longer available, But don`t worry theirs lot of similar red lace bodysuits on the market.
New Look White Ditsy Floral Tie Front Bodysuit: £15.99. We are throwing it back old skool now, Back when Little Mix first burst onto the music scene in 2012 Perrie wore a lot of ditsy floral patterns. Personally I think the ditsy floral pattern is suited for young girls between the ages of 17-18 as you transition from a young lady to a woman.
Boohoo Mesh Panelled High Neck Bodysuit: £9.12. She hasn`t worn many white bodysuits but she did once or twice. She performed once over in Japan I believe in a white bodysuit similar to this. Hers was from NastyGal and was sleeveless, But had a mesh strike through the middle and a striking ethnicity about it. This bodysuit would look good with a pair of black jeans.
River Island Red floral bodysuit: £18. Last on our list is this red ditsy floral bodysuit, Again we are taking it way back to the days Little Mix first started out. This bodysuit would look great with a denim skirt and white trainers.

HOW TO DRESS CLASSY – 7 STYLE TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW
HOW TO DRESS CLASSY
Is it time for you to change up your style? Add a bit of sophistication and class to your everyday outfits? Maybe you have a new job and need some new classy business casual attire, perhaps you’ve moved to a new city, or maybe you just need a change to represent who you have become. Are you wondering how to make that transition and how to dress classy? I’ll walk you through the ins and outs of styling yourself with a more sophisticated, chic, and classy style that you can wear for years to come (or the rest of your life!).
Classy styling is timeless. The navy shift dress and camel-colored pumps you buy today will still be wearable ten years from now. Buying one good pair of pearl stud earrings outweighs the 10 pairs of trendy statement earrings that will be passĂŠ a year after you buy them. Having a sophisticated and classy style means that you can wear your outfits to work, Sunday brunch, a city shopping trip, or traveling the world. You can even go sailing while rocking a classy look!
Creating classy outfits is about putting together crucial elements and making sure your style and confidence also shines through. So if you are ready to delve into a new classy look and answer the question of how to dress classy, let’s get started.
DEFINE AND KNOW YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
Personal style is something that each of us has; we just have to identify it, understand it, and then live it. It projects your mood, personality and you as a whole, reflecting your interests, lifestyle, inspirations, and your past.
When you find your personal style you know you look great and feel confident when you leave your home. Whether you prefer bohemian, street, high fashion, minimal or classic, you can make your style look classy when the occasion calls for it.
I hear many women say that they don’t have a personal style or they don’t know what their own style is. Whenever I hear this, I recommend that they take a look at their closet. If you’re trying to find your personal style here is a quick tip that you can do right now. Take out your favorite pieces from your wardrobe. Lay on your bed the clothing you wear over and over again and look for patterns. Is it mainly solids or patterns, bright or neutral colors, dresses or pants, flirty or conservative?
Which category do you see your clothing fitting into? Is your clothing learning towards more free-spirited, maybe bohemian? Or is it filled with solids in black, white, and navy in sleek lines and perfect fits? Then it could be minimalistic.
Typically, classic and minimalist styles will look classy all the time. Classic and minimalist styles usually learn towards neutral color palettes, shapes, fabrics which make it easier to put together classy outfits. But don’t think just because you prefer bohemian or street style that dressing classy is out of the question.
THE 7 BASICS OF CLASSY STYLE
#1 WEAR ITEMS THAT ARE MADE OF CLASSIC FABRICS
Classic, timeless clothing made of materials that will last well into the next decade is what you should be looking to add to your essential wardrobe. Think cotton, wool, linen, and silk. These four basic fabrics will stand the test of time if cared for properly. Cleaned and pressed, items made of these fabrics tend to give off a classy vibe all on their own.
These fabrics also have variations that allow you to expand on your wardrobe. Denim is one example of a cotton fabric that cuts across all style lines, from street to boho to minimalist. Similarly, chino cotton works excellent in pants, blazers and even moto jackets (for the street style in you!). Then there is cashmere, a type of wool that feels heavenly against the skin and doesn’t pill with age. Cashmere sweaters, whether they are cardigans, V-necks, or crewneck pullovers pair perfectly with those denim jeans, as well as tailored pants and skirts.
A word to the wise with these fabrics: Read the labels and care for them properly to make them last. While wrinkle-free cotton has become more available, most cotton items will need to be ironed. (Classy outfits are not wrinkly!) Wool, linen, and silk often have to be dry-cleaned or hand-washed. Make a mistake, and you may have to give your 6-year-old-niece that wool cardigan that was a staple in your wardrobe but shrunk in half thanks to your dryer.
#2 IF IN DOUBT WEAR SOLID NEUTRALS
Bold patterns and prints can definitely work in a sophisticated and classy look, but you may not be comfortable with such patterns if you are just beginning on your classy style journal. Neutrals are your friend in this case. Solids are plentiful in the stores (and probably your closet), easily combined, and help to stretch your wardrobe.
Typical neutrals are white/beige/cream, navy blue, black, and gray. Now, don’t think you have to dress head-to-toe in black (or other neutral). Monochromatic (different shades or tints of the same color) allow you to vary a color but remain classy. Or you can add small accents that can transform a solid into something eye-catching, like a skinny burgundy alligator belt, a paisley scarf, or a pair of red pumps. Want to know more about monochromatic dressing? Make sure to read What is Monochromatic and How to Wear a Monochromatic Outfit.
#3 FIT IS KEY
Classy and sophisticated clothing is typically tailored and form-fitting (not too tight, but you can show off your figure). Skirts should hit just above or below the knee, as should your classy dresses. Classic trousers are straight, slightly wide, faintly bootcut, or menswear-inspired and should be ½-inch off the floor in the back. Wide-leg pants and skinny pants in classic fabrics are also acceptable, as are ankle pants (shades of Audrey Hepburn!). Blazers, blouses, and sweaters should follow the curve of your waist.
Do not hesitate to take items to a local dressmaker or tailor to be altered to fit correctly. Love that shift dress at Nordstrom, but it’s too big in the bust? That’s a $15 fix. Are those gray wool pants in your closet too long for classic 3-inch pumps or do you want to wear them with flats? Another $10-15 fix. Remember, good quality clothes will last you for 10+ years, and it is a small price to pay for alterations. Beats having to replace cheap pants every three years.
Not everything you wear has to be perfectly tailored and form-fitting. You can mix in unstructured pieces for a more relaxed vibe. Pair a blue-striped t-shirt with chinos and a denim jacket or a flowy maxi skirt with a crisp white button-down shirt (roll up those sleeves for added panache!).
Here is an example of how to wear a jumpsuit, and in this outfit, I opted for solid neutrals and paired a structured blazer with a flowy jumpsuit.
#4 NEVER OVEREXPOSE
Dressing classy requires a bit of modesty — no midriff-baring tops, revealing low décolletage, or mini skirts.
Necklines are typically collared, boatneck, crew neck or V-neck. For some variety, you can also try square, cowl, and scoop necks. For more formal occasions, asymmetrical, sweetheart and halter necklines work as well. Regardless, keep your cleavage and your belly button covered. Additionally, armholes on blouses and dresses should not reveal your bra.
As noted above, hem length on skirts and dresses should be just above or below the knee for everyday wear, with slightly shorter and full-length appropriate for summer events or classic formal wear. You can look stylish and sexy without showing too much skin.
#5 DON’T GO OVERBOARD WITH ACCESSORIES
Simple jewellery is the best way to go when aiming for a classy and sophisticated style. My recommendations are:
Earrings: small silver or gold hoops, pearl or diamond studs.
Bracelet: silver or gold bangles (one heavy or several delicate), tennis bracelet, watch (gold or silver with metal or leather band).
Necklace: Long pendants, pearls, diamond solitaire, cross.
Ring: Not necessary, but if you do, go either delicate or statement. Thin bands, diamonds, or heirloom rings are fine, and everyone should have one cocktail ring to wear to events or dress up your jeans. Stick to ring and/or middle fingers only.
Scarf: Scarves are a great way to add color and visual interest to a sophisticated outfit. Particularly if the scarf is bright or with an interesting pattern, again, cotton, silk, and wool are the best fabric options. Try multiple colors and fabrics, with light silk or cotton for spring and thicker wool ones for winter. Florals, paisleys, stripes, and solids are great options. If you need more outfit inspiration make sure to check out: Ways to Wear a Scarf & How to Tie a Scarf: The Definitive Guide.
And don’t forget your shoes. Yes, shoes are an accessory! Pumps, slingbacks, ballet flats, or boots in solid neutrals, such as cream, navy or black, are your best bet. All go with a multitude of outfits, meaning you won’t need to break the bank for a closet full of shoes.
But don’t think that you can’t be daring with your shoe choices, every woman should own a red pair of shoes, and it never hurts to have an animal print to make an outfit pop a bit. (Think leopard print flats with khakis or denim.)
#6 STYLE YOUR HAIR
Now that we’ve covered colors, fabrics, fit and accessorizing let’s move on to your hair! I can’t say this goes without saying because I want to include all the basics. Make sure you style your hair. If you’re wondering how to dress classy and give the appearance of sophistication make sure you spend a little bit of time styling your hair.
If you’re short on time in the mornings or don’t like styling your hair opt for an easy haircut or a haircut that you can quickly put up. By stylish and chic hairstyles I mean a sleek bun or ponytail. I have a lot of hair, and it’s pretty long so if I want to look stylish, I know I need to spend at least 30 minutes on it if I want to wear it down. But the hairstyle I turn to when I don’t want to spend a long time on my hair is a sleek low bun.
Find a hairstyle that is easy for you to style every day and one that you love as well!
#7 MAKEUP MAKES A DIFFERENCE
You’ve made it to the last point on how to dress classy! Yay, thank you for making it here. I left this one for last because, to be honest, it’s the one I have the most trouble with. I don’t often “do” my makeup, and this point is one that I continually work on. If you are like me and don’t spend much time on your makeup focus on these three things that will make a difference in your classy look.
Eyes, checks, and lip should be what you focus on if you only have 5 minutes. Put on some mascara to open up your eyes, add some blush to bring some life and dimension to a face, and wear a bold lip to add a pop of color. These three things are subtle but make a huge difference to the completeness of your classy look.
YOU DON’T NEED A LOT OF MONEY TO DRESS CLASSY
Contrary to popular belief, classy outfits don’t have to break the bank. Yes, you can spend $200 on a designer-label button-down shirt, but you can also find one of comparable quality and appearance for $68 at Banana Republic, the Gap or Ann Taylor. And because classic, well-made clothing lasts for years, and even decades, you can often find good bargains at secondhand and thrift stores.
Invest in good quality basics that fit well, and that you can mix and match. Accessories—which are much cheaper than clothing—can help change up your looks and stretch those basics even further.
Like I mentioned on my first point about opting for classic fabrics, also look for classic shapes and forever classic closet staples. Don’t waste money on trendy pieces that you’ll only wear for a season.
KEEP A PRETTY MANI
Your hands and the jewelry on them are an extension of your wardrobe, and a reflection of the care you take with your appearance, especially if you are wearing a statement bracelet or ring that brings extra attention to those fingers.
Indulge in regular manicures, either at home or in a salon. Keep nails short to medium in length, opting for a nice round or oval shape, with clear or nude polish or a French manicure. Stay away from stiletto nails and bold or neon colors, as well as nail art and jewels.
NOTE: If wearing sandals or peep-toe shoes, a pedicure is a must. I find that a simple clear gloss or nude colors work best, but you can always go with a classic red or pink.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS
They say that the devil is in the details, and dressing classy is no exception. The trick to wearing sophisticated clothing is to keep everything neat, clean, and simple. Make sure that the clothes are flattering on you and colors and patterns are balanced.
All items should be free of wrinkles and color coordinated. Check for holes, loose threads, missing buttons, or a hemline that is frayed. Stick with neutrals with pops of color here and there. Don’t over-accessorize; stick with simple minimal jewelry like a pair of earrings and a watch or earrings and a pendant necklace.
Your hair and makeup also play a role in your overall look. Again, neat and clean. Stay away from metallic eyeshadows in loud colors, be careful not to overdo the blush or bronzer, and stick with a neutral or light lip.
HOW TO DRESS CLASSY AND YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
Dressing classy doesn’t have to be difficult, but it will take some time to meld your personal style with the new sophisticated way of dressing. Don’t automatically discount the clothing you already have in your closet. You may be able to integrate items in ways you didn’t think possible.
My style is more classic and minimalist but I do like to add color whenever possible. As you can see in this outfit post, I’m wearing a classy dress but with with a pattern that screams personality. The small pops of color don’t overwhelm the dress or me but add to my look.
This dress has all of the details I mentioned above, with the hem ending just above the knees, a crew neckline, and it’s form fitting but not tight. It has that classy shape but with a little attitude.
I’ve paired it with a red handbag, fun metallic pump, and minimal accessories: sunglasses, earrings and a dainty watch. Simple, elegant, sophisticated and this outfit perfectly reflects my personal style.
So take a look through that closet again. Maybe you can let the hem down on your favorite skirt or add a cuff to pants that are too long for your ballet flats. And that floral silk blouse? It will look great paired with a neutral skirt and matching pumps. You don’t have to completely give up your own style to be classy and chic, but it will require some effort and modifications.
Are you ready to make a classy transition? Remember classy doesn’t mean boring or without personality. Dressing classy means dressing elegant and sophisticated. It’s also timeless and elegant.
If you feel like you’re jumping from style to style and don’t have the wardrobe that represents where you are in your life then start integrating the style tips I mention in this post! Shop for pieces that you can wear longer than a season and remember that a good tailor is worth every penny.
I hope I have answered all your classy outfit questions and you now know more about how to dress classy. If I missed something leave me a comment and I’ll answer you directly!

Keanu Reeves Has Been Wearing the Same Outfit for 25 Years
The actor's lifelong style commitment is still paying off.
At Comic Con in New York City last week, Keanu Reeves was on hand to drum up excitement about his new flick Replicas and, we assume, answer a lot of John Wick-related questions. And he did it all wearing the same outfit he's worn for the better part of the last two decades.
Reeves' personal style, not to mention Reeves himself, is especially relevant in 2017 thanks to a massive upswing in fashion world appreciation for all things '90s. For the rest of the world, that's meant guys getting excited about riffs on that era's menswear staples (see: anything from Vêtements, stonewashed jeans, graphic patterned merch!). For Reeves it's meant sticking with his uniform: relaxed tailoring worn with a black T-shirt and brown boots. He's worn the same look on countless red carpets, on late night TV interviews, through airports, walking around city streets, sitting on benches while looking sad, all with the same just-rolled-out-of-bed effortlessness that makes the look appealing as opposed to just sloppy. The man owns other clothes—jeans for example, a tan suit from last year, the suede trucker jacket he wore to the premiere of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure—but the vast majority of his closet is just variations of this one outfit. And despite the fit of it barely changing for decades it still looks damn good.

The takeaway from Reeves' commitment to a single 'fit is that the actor found something he loved wearing and then just stuck with it. It's a strategy we respect and one that you don't have to be famous in any way to pull off. The Keanu sweet spot is, after all, somewhere between dirt bike and movie premiere attire. A relaxed fit suit and tee can easily transition from casual to casual Friday, so find tailoring that feels good (not too tight, not too loose) and then buy your go-to T-shirt in bulk. A beat up pair of chukkas, like Keanu's, serve to toughen up an otherwise simple set of basics. The secret to successful repeat dressing is the knowledge that nobody is actually going to call you out (except us, but that's our job). If you feel good, you'll look better every time. And Reeves' decades long outfit run is some pretty convincing proof that wearing the same thing everyday (as long as it's clean) can definitely look just as cool as any current trend. That or, if you just wait long enough, the very thing you're wearing will come back around as menswear's must-have trend.
