It's something he didn't have - so he gives it.#WWX on the other hand has been *so* defined by his drive to indulge. And here he is the restrictor!#It takes a bit more to see what's going on here. starting to feel my enjoyment of cooking seeping back in after a long period of intense burnout that had me really slogging along preparing meals with gritted teeth for a good month there. i credit the return of this spark to the much needed break i took on our 3 day vacation that resulted in us eating solely theme park food. while delicious, in all its greasy overpriced glory, i found myself missing the kitchen. so last night for dinner i made heavily spiced chicken wings with crushed peppercorns and garam masala that rendered slowly in its own fat while roasting in the oven, resulting in flavorful charred crisp skin and a really juicy bite. we picked them clean over steamed rice with lime and scallions. i also baked a loaf of marbled pumpkin and dark chocolate bread yesterday for my neighbor as a thank you for doing me a favor last week. it looked delicious. the crumb was tender and plush and velvety, the spiced ginger molasses pumpkin batter swirling alongside the bitter dark chocolate espresso batter, with puddles of dark chocolate bubbling across its top. it looked so lovely i whipped up a second one for us to have for ourselves that's in the oven now, i think it could be a really good breakfast pastry for us this week.
#ugh it feels sooooooooo good to be enjoying cooking again#it was so bad the last like month or so i just#have been sooooo burnt out#it's genuinely insane what a 3 day vacation can do to reset you :(( it makes me sad lol#i wish that everyone could rest to their hearts content forever#i think i am someone who is extremely prone to burnout and i need about quadruple the amount of quiet alone resting time#that the average person does#so when i get burned out its like excruciating to pull myself out of it again#but im also the primary cook of my household so there isn't really time to take a break and recharge and find my joy for it because#we have to eat lol#3 times a day#every day#forever#BUT#i am feeling so much better about things now after making that dinner and baking a little bit#its feeling soooo autumnal around here lately too which helps#the changing of the seasons is so good for my cooking motivationg#idk#i was feeling pretty depressed that i was starting to resent cooking for a while there since when i enjoy it it's like#life-giving#soul sustaining#wonderful hobby that gives my life purpose and meaning#and it was breaking my heart that i wasn't feeling that way anymore#but i can feel myself coming back#writing about food helps me too#something about describing it#and sharing it with other people who are delighted by it#makes me enjoy it a little extra#sigh#i feel like im returning to myself finally !!!

penelope canonically retreating to her room and refusing food = she puts on some weight, the reason being both lack of physical activity as well as her body being on constant emergency mode (so what little she does eat ends up being stored away bc the body doesnt know when the 'starvation' will end). whats more her constant stress elevates cortisol levels which in and of itself leads to weight gain esp in the abdominal area.

sorry to boohoo whine woe is me but girl i am so sick to death of being hungry. every DAY you have to eat sometimes multiple times a day. and while i know how lucky i am that i have the means to acquire food my options are 1. eat junk food 2. go out of my house and spend 1 million dollars at some fast food chain i'm probably supposed to boycotting 3. remain hungry. and i have to make this decision multiple times a day!!!!!
#personal#hurricane blogging lol#we were going to my brother's house for at least one hot meal a day#but he's out of town for work and he's also fucking sick of us#what's worse is that every time i do get access to hot food i eat as much as i can hoping that it will be longer before i get hungry again#and then overeating just makes me feel bad in a different direction#i'm gonna gain 20lbs and feel hungry the entire fucking time#anyway my mom had the bright idea to try hot dogs#the grill is too dirty to use and she hates cleaning it but we do have a little stove eye with it#so whwn they get back from some church concert theyre gonna go to the store and then drop by my aunts house so she can feed her cats#and THEN we will boil hot dogs. at least 2 hours from now. delicious.

i have successfully made malanga fritters from In Stars and Time and God are they good bros
#in stars and time#food#i tried making them literally right after we discovered. what they Were. and that they were siffrin's favorite thing ever#and they were good! but not blows your mind kind of good. no heavenly smell. just normal smell#i tried a second attempt with giraumon (or rather. an acorn squash. close enough) and also onion and vinegar n spices#bc all the recipes i found were all Different and i wanted to figure out what to do personally#and that attempt was a horrific failure and it was right before my friend and i were streaming another episode and i was so sad#i realized that the addition of new ingredients introduced too much water and it was way too wet#even after draining a lot of the liquid it couldn't really be saved#also i think the oil was too hot. i nearly did the same thing here but i turned it down before they got too burnt#but yeah! i'll try at least one more time with the squash again but i wanted to get the flavors right#and the secret was Adobo Seasoning#i still am on the fence abt putting in vinegar cuz. having mayo as a dipping sauce really elevates it djdgdjd#it's creamy and has the vinegar acidic bite to it that this needs! and it's so good dude#i did make these ones pretty salty though. whoops dhdgdj they were undersalted last time and now it's too much lol

Cutting this whole bit and most of the servant's lines and Bard explaining how to play cricket get the fuck ouuuutttt
#i have been waiting for them all season#they're THE characters on the show they're just as much regulars as the midfords i don't understand#i already had a bad feeling with how they didn't make up a house episode and that one scene they stuck in at the end of the first episode..#...of sebastian serving tea the house felt sooo finny-less and then finny's scenes are cut too and mey rin's and bard's shitty food-#that's the whole reason tanaka had to get the other food from sebastian and it made me cry hearing a new seiyuu#if this were 2008 they would have inserted them more scenes the servants are ciel's family!!#i am already pretty disappointed with how they have changed some little things but this hurt my feelings the most today#again. we only got 11 episodes out of this arc and they felt like they should scrap all of their scenes??? but lord druitt gets to talk????#i shouldn't have to wait until germany to see them if they're canonically right there!! cricket is dry as hell!!#it's some of what i said before where they're animating the humorous parts of this season so off?? and this gets cut altogether??#AND AND since they're animating germany i know everyone gets to show up soon but why act like they don't matter now#i also don't like how bard got animated :(#kuroshitsuji#my kuro posts#phantomfam
