#we follow the code;; Chris Argent

Where did this idea that Chris Argent is the one Argent who cares about the code come from? He's just as bad as his wife, who wants to murder Scott for existing.
I feel like I have a completely different understanding of this that everyone else does. I like him BECAUSE he's a weak-willed jellyfish of a man. He follows orders, there's not much kindness left in him and it's only directed at his daughter. He's a liar who enjoys tormenting teenagers - he was willing to kill Derek and Scott even though he knew they hadn't killed anyone.
The entire point of the Argents is this corrupt family structure. "Women are leaders" they say, as they lie and gaslight Allison. "We don't kill innocents" they say, while shooting Derek and Scott for being outside at night.
How many times did they get it wrong and kill humans? We'll never know because of course they would just cover up the evidence. They were taking potshots at Scott and Derek and didn't even know WHO they were shooting at.
Literally none of them follow the code. They manipulated Allison into setting it aside. The code is bullshit.
"Chris would never torture innocents" bro what show were you watching, you think he didn't know Kate was sexually assaulting and electrocuting Derek?? He didn't seem that fucking surprised to see Erica and Boyd in his goddamn murder basement.
I feel like I am going crazy!!
you are so right.
what do i think of chris argent?
chris argent is compelling to me because he's not really that good of a person. he has deluded himself into thinking he is.
the indoctrination amongst hunters runs very, very deep. especially with the argents. he never fully becomes deprogrammed. gerard argent deeply damaged both of his children and that is the point. there is no happy ending for the argent family.
kate was gerard's golden child because kate was full tilt sociopathic and enjoyed killing. chris was the lesser of the two in gerard's eyes. we know that while chris did gerard's biding he hadn't been in contact with allison since she was three years old at the time of kate's "death". that tells you chris knew his father's influence was dangerous and corrupting. yet he still let it happen and watched allison be manipulated by his father and become like kate.
three children ended up in his murder and torture basement and the only one i can see him not fully knowing about is stiles because that was gerard's little game. he knew about erica and boyd, he knew what was being done to them and he allowed it. they hadn't done anything to anyone and again they were children. the same age as his daughter. her own classmates. trussed up in his basement.
his intimidates stiles, scott, jackson and derek more than once. people who hadn't done anything wrong. scott, jackson and stiles are all children.
chris also knew full well who and what kate was. he was in denial about it and ignored it. chris isn't a stupid man and i thought it was pretty clear throughout season 1 he had suspicions about kate so he's not even surprised when confronted about it code breaker. he's just disappointed.
he clings to the code because it gives him cover. it gives him a convenient excuse. he can wrap himself up in the code and declare himself a good hunter, not like the others, not like his father and sister when he is. the code is his self-delusion.
he changes because allison died and his code becomes the memory of his daughter. his shitty family and his lack of backbone led down a path that eventually led to her death.
yes allison's decision that night was her own but it was also reckless. why was the archer on the ground? why wasn't she high up like she'd been wise enough to do in frayed or in alpha pact? allison was desperate not only to save lydia but also to prove herself good and make up for her mistakes.
and even when he begins to change it's often conditional.
chris is an interesting character. i like him a lot actually but he's a fucked up person who makes many questionable decisions thought-out the series. he only looks good because gerard and kate are more terrible.

If I had written Teen Wolf and I wanted any of the Argents to be redeemable or that their moral code (moral codes are bullshit if you inherit your morals then they you will warp your actions to fit them but thats a personal philosophy) was worth something I wouldn’t have them make their money selling guns. That giant house for a family of three that they payed for by selling guns? If I wanted an audience to believe that they are trying to help people and that the cause is important to them they would not do it in such luxury. They could have had any day job an be regular hunters as a cover. Which also would have also been a cover to train Allison. Just something about them having enough money to fly off to France (while the teenagers that family tortured are still missing) just makes me flinch. And then the protagonists family has financial issues from the start. Melissa McCall makes sure to assure Scott that they will be ok if she misses a shift for his game. He knows enough about her financial situation that she thinks thats what he’s stressed about. Thats possibly why he got that job at the animal clinic. Its just such an odd choice and one reason I never liked Chris Argent.
It was never explained how the Argents actually accumulated their wealth - as I don’t think selling guns as a side hustle would have built up that much of a fortune. So it’s implied it must be generational wealth, or that maybe they got paid for some hunting jobs. The Calaveras clearly deal with money in their work so maybe the argents were the same.
Teen Wolf touched on the theme of money problems multiple times in the show but it never felt like it got followed through well. Like when the Stilinskis were struggling to pay Stiles’ medical bills and Eichen bills.
In terms of their morality, almost every single Argent in the show twists their own perception of reality and uses ‘the code’ to justify their actions that only serve their own personal beliefs or needs. They are almost all hypocrites.
Kate is a bit of an outlier because she never really claims to follow the code, her family just assumes that she is. She instead uses it as a cover up while she follows her own agenda (the one her father instilled in her, no doubt) of murdering werewolves because she considers them to be less than human and thus not worthy of life. We don’t ever see her hold any fear towards werewolves until she’s literally in Peter’s claws about to die. So she isn’t hunting them because she fears what they are capable of and wants to stop bad from happening (which is Chris’ reason). But Kate goes against her own beliefs when she chooses to stay alive and transition into a werejaguar. She becomes the very thing she has deemed as an animal unworthy of life. That’s pretty hypocritical, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. From here, the show could have gone two ways that would have made much more sense than what they actually did. A - Kate could have shown inner conflict or turmoil about her decision, hating the ‘monster’ she’s become but also not being able to unalive herself. This would make sense for her later story arc where she helps Gerard start the supernatural war/genocide. Or, option B - Kate can change her opinion about the supernatural because she’s become one. She can embrace it. But then her later storyline wouldn’t have made sense.
Additionally, there is Victoria, who claims to stick to the code, but we see her break this to try and kill Scott - an innocent teenager - over something as trivial as dating her daughter behind her back. It takes some of the impact away from her death scene and it makes me beleive she doesn’t do this because of the code as she claims, but because she despises werewolves that much that she can’t bear to become one. Hence, she follows her own moral beliefs over the code.
We have talked about Allison, but to summarise, Allison does what Allison feels like doing and then twists her perception of reality afterwards to make herself feel better about it or to excuse what she’s done. She’s often driven by her personal feelings and goals, and is very much driven by her desire for power. Now, these traits don’t have to make her a bad person when balanced correctly, but Allison’s character wasn’t balanced and she didn’t have much of an arc. She never developed because no other character called her out on her behaviour because Scott thought the sun and moon shone out of Allison’s butt crack. Because Scott believed she could do no wrong, no one else would really say anything to her. The show marketed her in a way that was contradictory to her actions and who she actually was on screen.
Gerard’s hypocrisy is rooted in him going against his strongest beliefs (that the supernatural is the scum of the Earth) when he wants to become a werewolf after learning of his cancer. Big ol hypocrite!
Now for my favourite Argent, Chris. Now, I actually really liked Chris by the end of the show. I enjoyed his character arc. To me he always felt the most human of the Argents from the beginning (except for Allison until season 2). We consistently see Chris being the voice of reason and reminding his family about the code, pulling them away from what was wrong. Whilst he definitely wasn’t perfect, he was far better than the others, which I would give him credit for considering the family he was raised (and brainwashed) by. From his story about his best friend turning and comparing him to a rabid dog, we see Chris’ humanity and his purpose for what he does is due to fear of what werewolves are capable of. This isn’t his fault - all he has been taught is that they are animals who can’t control themselves, and like animals who act aggressively and harm others, they must be put down. Chris sees this isn’t true when he is forced to work with Scott and we see him open his mind to the supernatural because for the first time in his life he is seeing evidence that what he’s been taught isn’t the full truth. Some may argue he changes for Allison’s sake and is doing it to mend his relationship with his daughter, but we see him continue with this behaviour after Allison’s death. It proves he truly did change, which is a difficult thing to do for a man of his age, especially one who lived his life the opposite way for so long. I imagine being raised by Gerard with Kate as a sister wouldn’t have been easy. In comparison, Chris is very well adjusted.

Random question, Prince but do you think Victoria or Gerard had military backgrounds? Maybe serving themselves or had parents that served?
I want to preface this answer with a caveat: this might be the most speculative meta I've ever written. While I'm going to try to draw as much evidence as I can from canon, I don't think it would be out-of-the question for people to disregard it on its surface merits.
So, here goes. I don't think that the Argents would join the military and they would strongly discourage their children from joining the military. I'm sure that during the time of the draft there might have been some Argents serving, but it would be under duress. If you accept the same head canon that I do, that Victoria was also from a hunting family, she would not be either. I think the reasons would be historical, practical, and philosophical.
Historical: Of all the characters in the Teen Wolf series, Marie-Jeanne Argent née Valet had the most emotionally true (if not entirely rational) reaction to the discovery that her beloved relative turned out to be one of the most prolific serial killers in that world let alone a terrifying demonic werewolf. As we see in The Maid of Gévaudan (5x18), she reacted with outright condemnation, hunting him down over three years and destroying all trace of him with a damnatio memoriae, which in reality meant destroying her own past, too. We can assume that the Argent Code was written by her, including the part where any hunter who was Bit by a werewolf had to kill themselves. This is extreme behavior (even if valid) and it is echoed in the revulsion non-corrupted Argents like Chris and Allison had when discovering Kate's and Gerard's crimes. It was certainly less permissive than the Hale family's tendency to react to deaths caused by their family which ranged from outright condoning ("But still beautiful, just like the rest of you") to dismissive (after all, how many people did kooky Uncle Petey kill, including the guy he shoved alive into a burning barrel, and still have the keys to the family home?).
Considering that Sebastian became a demon wolf while he was serving in the French king's war with England across an entire ocean in their respective colonies, I don't think it's a stretch for Marie-Jeanne in establishing her code to steer her descendants away from military service. It might even have been a requirement.
Practical: While both the military and hunters use weapons, military service wouldn't seem to bear much resemblance to hunter training. It appears to me to be much closer to espionage or criminal work. Hunting werewolves requires training in specific weapons (bows, tasers, and poisons), technology (hypersonic emitters), and techniques (torture, infiltration, intimidation, and cleaning up evidence). In addition, the soldiers of the Argent family exhibit a level of discernment when it comes to tactics and targets that the military simply would not tolerate. Chris points as much out to Kate in Code Breaker (1x12):
Chris: No one asked you to murder innocent people. There were children in that house, ones who were human. Look what you're doing now. You're holding a gun on a 16-year-old boy with no proof he spilled human blood.
Later on in Relics (6x04), Chris explains that he should have intervened when he saw how Gerard was training Kate. That implies to me that while Argent soldiers are supposed to follow the lead of the matriarch, they're also expected to do more than just follow orders. While civilization demands we hold individual military soldiers to answer for their conduct, I can tell you from personal experience that military training does not have a goal to instill a sense of individual agency.
Philosophical: In my encounters with real-life military people, it is my experience that they see themselves and the military as a whole as an immanent part of society itself. They enable civilization to exist; they uphold society's laws and mores as one of its pillars. I am sure that many people on this site would disagree with that assessment, but I'm talking about the perception within military culture itself. The military focus on being a vital part of their country, and when they err it is when they come to believe that they are the most important part and thus have a greater right to say how a country and a civilization will behave.
One of the things I've noticed about the Argents and the other hunting family feature, the Calaveras, is that they don't consider themselves part of the greater society. They see themselves as protecting it from monsters that the average person cannot comprehend, and while they certainly do infiltrate law enforcement and emergency services, they don't seek permanent authority over the mundane social institutions. This is one of the significant departures that marked Monroe as different from previous organized hunters, and one that made her more dangerous. Victoria, Araya, Chris and Allison (and when they weren't being selfishly corrupt, even Gerard and Kate) saw themselves as operating outside of it all as a necessity. They work with criminals like the yakuza; they hire mercenaries; and they understand that they will never be fully accepted.
Chris: We're gonna be pariahs in this town. Victoria: We can handle it.
Monroe, on the other hand, organized hunters to protect society, but she wanted to change society as well. She accused the werewolves not only of being monsters by virtue of their natures and by their acts, but by the power that privileged them ("No one should have this power"), and she accused people like Sheriff Stilinski of abetting that unfair advantage. (I will never forgive Teen Wolf for giving up on exploring that difference half-way through 6B.) Since Gerard was only interested in using Monroe, he didn't train to see herself the way he and his family saw themselves: protectors working from the outside.
All these things lead me to believe that the Argents wouldn't have military training, not even corrupt ones like Gerard or Victoria.

Ch.15 - Ch.17
Series Masterlist
Pairing: Stiles Stilinski x fem!Reader
Word count: 4.9k
Alan quickly grabs things while he talks to Scott in rushed tones. "They're coming back, so we don't have much time to talk."
He puts rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. "Uh, what is that?" Scott asks.
"Rubbing alcohol. You don't want it to get infected, do you?" Scott shakes his head as Alan cleans the wound. "You'll heal the same." Scott grunts at the stinging from the disinfectant. "Just not as quickly, because of Derek."
"Okay, how do you know all of this? Actually, how do- how do you know anything? Is it because of Y/n? Do you know about her?"
Alan tapes a bandage over the wound. "It's a long story. What I can tell you is that I know about your kind and Y/n's kind. Your kind-" he tears another piece of tape with his teeth, "I can help." He puts the tape over the bandage and looks at the body on his table. "This... This is something different."
"Wha- well- do you know what did it?"
"No. But the Argents will. And this is the crucial part. They'll have some kind of record, or book. It'll have descriptions, histories, notations of all the things they've discovered."
"Wha- all the things? How many different things are there?" Scott asks, bewildered. Tires crunch on gravel and car doors open drawing their attention. Scott hides out of sight to listen in while Alan goes back to the body.
Chris and two other Hunters walk into the back room. Chris clears his throat to announce their presence. "I'm starting to think I need to buy a more prominent 'closed' sign." He turns to them with a friendly smile and Chris scoffs a bit. Him and the Hunters move more into the room as Gerard walks in after them.
"Hello, Alan." Alan's smile fades at the sight of the man and he takes a step back, glancing at Chris who gives him the tiniest of shakes of his head. He didn't tell Gerard about Y/n. "It's been a while. The last I heard, you had retired."
"Last I heard, you followed a code of conduct."
"If you hadn't noticed, this body is one of ours." Chris says.
"I did. I also noticed the gunpowder residue on his fingertips. So don't assume I'll be swayed by your philosophy just 'cause I'll answer a few questions."
"He was only 24."
"Killers come in all ages."
"All ages, sizes, shapes." Gerard agrees. "It's the last one that concerns us."
"How about you tell us what you found?"
Alan goes to the head. "See this cut?" He turns the head to show the thin cut on the back of his neck. Gerard puts on glasses and he and Chris look at the mark. "Precise. Almost surgical. But this isn't the wound that killed him. This had a more... Interesting purpose."
"Relating to the spine?" Gerard guesses.
"That's right. Whatever made this cut was laced with a paralytic toxin potent enough to disable all motor functions." He moves to the side and hovers his hand over the torso in display. "These are the cause of death. Notice the patterns on each side?"
"Five, for each finger."
"Each claw." Gerard corrects his son before Alan continues.
"As you can see, it dug in, and slashed upward, eviscerating the lungs and slicing through the bone and rib cage with ease."
"Have you ever seen anything like this before?" Chris asks.
"No."
"Any idea at all what killed him?"
"No. But I can tell you it's fast, remarkably strong, and has the capacity to render it's victims essentially helpless within seconds."
"If you're saying we should be cautious, we get it."
"I'm saying you should be afraid. Be very afraid. Because in the natural world, predators with paralytic toxins use them to catch and eat their prey. This prey wasn't eaten. That means whatever killed him only wanted to kill him. In fact, killing may be it's only purpose."
...
Since midday Y/n had been in her Spirit Writing trance, getting completely drawn into the influences of the other world. It's almost dawn when she finally comes out of it. She blinks as if waking up and her eyes dim to e/c as she sets her paintbrush down. She looked down at her hands to find dark paint smudged all over them. Her eyes then trailed up to the canvas in front of her, her possible answer waiting for her. What she finds wasn't what she was expecting. Granted she didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't this.
A burned hand digs it's claws into a pale arm. Four lines of red blood starkly stand out against the skin. The scene is dark with only a bit of brightness, like moonlight is shining on them. Thin trails of purple energy swirl around the hand and arm, seemingly binding them. Drops of red stain them, blood dripping from another source unseen.
Y/n has no idea what this could mean. The energy is obviously that of a witch, but is it her or someone else? And the blood being drawn. This resembles blood magic but Y/n doesn't even broach the subject in her grimoire. One wrong move and things could go wrong. She's not powerful enough for that. Not ready. So it couldn't be her magic then, can it?
She sighs and slumps in her chair, exauhsted and drained. She got an answer all right, but what the hell is it saying? Deciding she's too tired to think anymore of it she cleans up her things, makes sure her incense is finished burning, turned off her music, unlocked her door and gathered her belongings she left just outside. She turned her phone back on but didn't bother to check if she missed anything. She's just too tired. She changes her clothes and climbs into bed.
It seems she only slept a few minutes when her phone ringing wakes her up. She groans and blindly reaches over to answer without seeing who it was. "Who the hell is waking me up?" She grumbled into the phone.
"I need your help." A gruff voice answered.
"Derek?" She furrows her brows and cracks open her eyes in confusion. "How did you get my number?"
"Doesn't matter. I need you to help me."
"With what?"
"Just get down here." And with that he hung up. A moment later she got a message from him about where to meet. She glared at the phone screen.
"Who are you to tell me what to do, mister?" She asked no one in particular. She thought about ignoring him, but he did come when she went to him to help Scott that one night. I guess I owe him at least a visit. She sighed as she got up and got dressed. Before she left she checked her phone for messages and found several, mostly from Stiles from his tendency to rant. Apparently while she was in her spell Scott and Stiles figured out Boyd was the next Beta, they each went to find him, Erica knocked out Stiles and messed up his Jeep enough to where he had to take it into the shop. There he had a paralyzing encounter with the new scaley creature roaming town.
So much happened in just one night and she wasn't there to help with any of it. She could have done something if she was there, she's sure of it. But sometimes she doesn't feel as sure as she did before. With what happened with Peter she's been feeling a bit powerless. She has these abilities but she doesn't use them. What good is a witch who doesn't use her gifts?
She sighs again and shuts off the screen. What's done is done. Just let it go and move on. She hopped on her bike and rode down to Derek's 'lair' which appears to be a railway depot. She watches from the sidelines as Isaac repeatedly runs the same path to get past Derek, each time being easily knocked back on his ass. Boyd and Erica watch from nearer to the pair until after another attempt from Isaac Erica jumps from the top of the train car, trying to get a sneak attack on the Alpha but he also knocked her down next to Isaac.
Derek rolls his eyes at the two. "Does anyone want to try not being completely predictable?" Erica jumps up and jumps onto Derek, arms around his neck and legs around his waist. She makes out with him for a few seconds before he throws her back down. He wipes his lips. "That's the last time you do that."
"Why, 'cause I'm a Beta?" She sasses.
"No. Because I have someone else in mind for you."
"I hope you don't mean my boyfriend or best friend." Y/n finally spoke up and walked into view, coming to a stop a couple feet from Derek. "Why did you call me here?"
"I need your help training them."
"And why should I?" She folded her arms.
"Because I helped you once."
"Yeah, you did. But then you sided with a homicidal maniac and then started turning teens left and right after you became an Alpha. Whatever I owed you became null and void. Me even coming here is more than enough."
"What would you even be able to do for us?" Erica suddenly spoke up making the two look at her. "You're not an Alpha. You're not even a werewolf. You smell different. What are you?"
"Wouldn't you like to know." Y/n gave her a half smile before she turned back to Derek. "I'm sorry, Derek. I can't help you. This is your pack and your mess. They shouldn't have been involved in the first place." With that she left the depot and went back home to get ready for school.
...
"Stiles!" Y/n called once she spotted him down the hall. She quickly made her way to him and hugged him. He sighed and buried his face into her shoulder. "I'm sorry." She said quietly. "I was trying to figure something out and I turned off my phone to focus better. I didn't realize it would take me hours."
"It's okay." His voice was a bit muffled against her.
"No, it's not. I should have been there. I'm sorry."
He pulled away and put a hand on her cheek. She turned into it slightly with a small frown. "It really is okay. You can't be there every time something bad happens."
"But-" He gives an exasperated sigh and a roll of his eyes before he cuts her off with a quick kiss.
She looks at him startled for a moment before smiling. "Better?"
"Much." She nodded. He smirked at her and put an arm over her shoulder as they walked together.
...
The magic trio sit on the steps together, Y/n and Scott facing each other, Stiles on the step above them looking between the two. "I'm so sorry about the other day." Y/n says to Scott. "I'm trying. We'll get through this. I know, because I love you." Scott smiles. "I love you more than-"
"Oh, my God!" Stiles interrupts. "I can't- you and Allison just have to find a better way to communicate."
"Come on." Scott pleads. "You guys are the only ones that we can trust. Is she coming to the game tonight?"
"Yes." Y/n nods.
"Okay? Message complete." Stiles seems to sigh in relief. "Okay, now, tell me about your boss." Y/n had been told what happened by Alan so she's unsurprised about the mention of her guardian.
"Uh, he thinks that Allison's family keeps some kind of, uh, records of all the things that they've hunted. Like a book."
"You mean a bestiary?"
"That's what I was thinking." Stiles pointed at her.
"What?" Scott asks.
"A bestiary." Y/n repeats.
Scott snickers as he smiles like an idiot. "I think you mean bestiality."
Y/n squints her eyes at him in wonder and confusion while Stiles speaks up. "Nope, pretty sure we don't. It's like an encyclopedia of mythical creatures."
"How am I the only one that doesn't seem to know anything about this stuff?"
"Okay, you know, you're my best friend, you're a creature of the night, my girlfriend's a witch, it's kind of like a priority of mine."
"Okay. If we can find it-"
"And if it can tell us what this thing is-" Y/n adds.
"And who." Stiles finishes.
"We need that book." All three chorus together. They all look at each other. Y/n smiles at the situation as Stiles grabs her hand and pulls her along.
Outside they stand in front of Allison who smirks up at the pair. "I think you mean-"
"No, we mean bestiary." Stiles firmly cuts her off. "And the two of you, I don't want to know what's going on in your heads."
"Okay, um, can you describe this thing?"
"Probably a book. Most likely old and worn." Y/n offers.
"Like, bound in leather?"
"Traditionally." Y/n nods. Allison mentions a book she had seen her grandfather with once. She gives Stiles another message for Scott and when he went to grab Y/n's hand she pulled away, instead sitting down next to her friend. "Yeah, no, I love you and all, but I'm not in the mood to run around." She smiles up at him and he sighs, leaving on his own to play messenger boy.
He comes back a while later panting. "Where... Does he... Keep it?" He gasped between breathes. Another set of messages and he's back with an inhaler that he takes a quick puff of. "You know, drug dealers have been using disposable cell phones pretty successfully for years."
"My parents check every call, email, and text message I send. Trust me, they'd find it."
"All right. Can you get the book?"
"Not without his keys."
Allison leaves soon after and Stiles all but collapses in the seat next to Y/n. "You know, now that I think about it, you could have stayed with Scott while I was with Allison and we could have texted back and forth for them."
Stiles groans and puts his head on the table. "Why didn't I think of that?" Y/n coos and rubs his back soothingly.
Later that night the teens plan to get Gerard's keys during the lacrosse game while he's busy watching it. The crowd groans in sympathy when a beast of a guy from the opposing team knocks two Beacon Hills' players to the ground. Coach blows his whistle angrily. "Come on! Is that thing even a teenager?! I wanna see a birth certificate!" He sits on the bench next to Stiles and Y/n. "Who or what is that genetic experiment gone wrong?"
"Eddie Obomowitz, Coach." Stiles offers. "They call him 'The Abomination'."
"Oh, that's cute." Coach mutters.
"I feel bad for his girlfriend." Y/n winces, then tilts her head in thought. "Or boyfriend."
Allison glances at Gerard next to her and feigns being cold. "I knew I should have brought a warmer jacket." She lightly jokes.
"You're cold." He points out. "Here, take my coat." He stands and starts to take off the heavy clothing item from his shoulders.
"Are you sure?" She stands with him.
"Oh, yeah." He helps her put it on and they sit again. When his attention is drawn back to the game she carefully digs in his pockets for the keys. When she has them she hides them in her grip, noticing the flashdrive on his keychain. The Abomination takes down another player eliciting another wave of groans in the spectators. "Good God, is it always this violent?"
She doesn't answer his idle question as she carefully holds the keys to her side and off the stands. Stiles smoothly walks by and takes them, looking around before heading back to the school to go through Gerard's office. He runs through the parking lot, pausing when he sees someone still in their car. Lydia Martin, and she was crying. He has to go, but his concern draws him over to check on her. "Hey, Lydia, what's wrong?" He asks when he gets close enough and she immediately rolls up her window. "Lydia, come on." He knocks on the window.
"Just go away."
"What's wrong?"
"Look, I don't need anyone seeing me cry."
"Aw, come on, Lydia." She doesn't answer and he thinks for a moment. "All right, all right. You don't want anyone to see you cry, I get it. But what if I called Y/n over?" He raised his brows in question and she glanced at him in slight intrest. "She's at the game so I can call her now and she'd be here in two minutes. How does that sound?" She gives a tiny nod and he does as promised. He called Y/n and told her about Lydia. She told him to go look for the bestiary and she'd be there soon.
When she got there Y/n leaned over and peered into Lydia's passenger window, lightly tapping on the glass. When Lydia saw her she unlocked the car and let her in. Y/n sat down and turned to face Lydia. "Hey, Lydie. A little spastic birdie told me you were upset."
"That's fairly obvious." Lydia gestured to her tear-stained face.
"What's wrong?"
She was quiet for a moment. "You're gonna think I'm crazy."
Y/n shook her head. "Lydia, there is literally nothing you could say that would make me think you're crazy, okay? Believe me, I've seen crazy people. You're definitely not one of them."
Lydia looked over at Y/n's reasuring look and relented. "Fine." Lydia then told Y/n about the things that have been happening lately. Things like seeing a guy walk barefoot through school leading her to the trophy case where she saw a trophy with Peter Hale's name on it. And then seeing a flower stick up out of the ice at the ice rink and seeing Peter underneath it. Most recently her mom waking her up to find blood in her sheets from cut knuckles that she got when she apparently punched a mirror, something she didn't remember doing. "I just don't understand what's happening." She cried.
"Oh, Lydia." As best as she could she pulled Lydia into a hug. "I believe you. And I'm not just saying that. I've had some weird experiences as well. I don't know what they mean but I'm gonna figure it out."
"How?"
She chewed on her lip in thought as she pulled away. She couldn't tell Lydia everything now, there's just no time, but she could tell her a bit. "It's hard to explain without rushing and confusing you more. But I'm not normal, per se."
"What do you mean?"
"You'll probably think I'm crazy now," she lightly joked, making Lydia roll her eyes and gesture for her to get on with it. "But... I'm not exactly... Human."
"What?"
"I'm not like regular people. I can do things others can't."
"What does that even mean?"
"I know I sound insane, I just can't explain everything now. But I promise I will as soon as I can."
Lydia frowned at her. "You do sound crazy... But I believe you."
Y/n smiled in relief. "Thanks."
While Y/n was talking to Lydia Stiles was looking for the bestiary in Gerard's desk drawers. Unfortunately he finds nothing, sending a text to Allison to let her know. Erica soon finds him and drags him to the pools where Derek awaits to question him. "What did you see at the mechanic's garage?" Derek asked.
"Uh, several alarming EPA violations that I'm seriously considering reporting." Derek smiles and looks down at the basketball in his hands, soon punching holes in it with his claws. "Holy God." He tosses the deflated ball to the ground.
"Let's try that again."
"All right, the thing was pretty slick looking. Um, skin was dark. Kind of patterned. Uh, I think I actually saw scales. Is that enough? Okay? Because there's something I really have to get back to." Derek gives him a look and he grunts in frustration. "Um, all right, fine. Eyes. Eyes are, um... Yellowish and slitted. Um... It has a lot of teeth. Oh, and it's got a tail, too. Are we good?" Suddenly the wolves are looking up at the balcony as the creature Stiles described looks down at the three. Stiles notices the change in their expression. "What? Wait, have you seen it? You guys have this look on your faces like you know exactly what I'm talking about." A hissing sound makes him look over his shoulder and the creature screeches at them. "Whoa." Stiles jumps and backs up next to Derek.
It jumps down where Stiles was and Derek growls at it in defence. It swipes at them and knocks Erica into a wall, knocking her out. Derek turns and pushes Stiles away. "Run!" The creature swipes at them again, this time nicking Derek on the back of the neck. He reflexively ducks away and looks around for what happened.
"Derek, your neck." Derek reaches up and soon starts to fall as he's paralyzed. Stiles quickly catches him. "Come on. Come here." He puts Derek's arm over his shoulders and stumbily hauls him away. "Where is it? Can you see it?"
"No, just hurry. Call Scott and Y/n!" Stiles digs into his pocket for his phone, but it fumbles and slips out of his grip onto the floor. His attempt to catch it made Derek slip from his grasp. "Stiles, you son of a-" Derek yells out as he falls into the pool. Stiles looks between Derek and the phone for a moment, weighing his chances of getting it before he drowns. Ultimately he goes for Derek first. He dives down, grabbing ahold of Derek and holding him up above water.
"Where'd it go?" He looks around. "Where is it? Do you see it?"
"No."
"Okay, maybe it took off." At that moment the creature screeches again letting them know that, no, it did not in fact take off.
"Maybe not." They wade in the water for a while trying to figure out how to get out. "Will you get me out of here before I drown?"
"You're worried about drowning? Did you notice the thing out there with multiple rows of razor sharp teeth?"
"Did you notice that I'm paralyzed from the neck down in eight feet of water?"
"Okay." Stiles pants as he looks around. "I don't see it." He starts paddling to the edge of the pool with one arm.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait. Stop, stop." Derek warns. Stiles does so and follows Derek's gaze to see the creature stalking around the pool.
"What's it waiting for?" It circles the pool a while before going to the edge and trying to put it's hand in, but it hisses and jerks away as soon as it makes contact with the liquid, scuttling as far back as it can. "Wait, did you see that? I don't think it can swim." Stiles watches as it circles more. "Okay, okay. Okay, I don't think I can do this much longer." Stiles stares at the phone on the ground and Derek quickly catches on to his idea.
"No, no, no, no! Don't even think about it."
"Could you just trust me this once?"
"No!"
"I'm the one keeping you alive, okay? Have you noticed that?"
"Yeah. And when the paralysis wears off, who's gonna be able to fight that thing, you or me?"
"That's why I've been holding you up for the past two hours?"
"Yup. You don't trust me. I don't trust you. But you need me to survive, which is why you're not letting me go." Stiles stares at him for a moment and then throws his arm off of him. "Stiles!" His voice is cut off by the water as he sinks.
Stiles quickly swims to the edge of the pool, hesitating when the creature is in front of him. Stiles rushes and grabs the phone as the creature gets closer and pushes himself away just as it reaches him. He swims back to be over Derek, keeping the phone above water, and dials Scott.
"Scott!" He yells out as soon as his friend answers.
"I can't talk right now." Is all Scott says before he hangs up.
Stiles looks at the phone in disbelief. He looks down at Derek in the water and the phone, debating calling Y/n. He decides it's no good as Derek's been down there long enough already. He grunts in frustration and tosses the phone away before diving down and retrieving Derek once again. They both gasp for air when they breach the surface.
"Tell me you got at least one of them!" Derek asks. Stiles' silence answers that for him.
"I'll see you later!" Y/n calls after Lydia as she starts to drive away, both girls feeling a bit lighter after having opened up to each other a bit. Y/n smiled after her and gave a light wave. Suddenly she heard a God awful screech, looking towards where it came from in confused shock. "Stiles!" Now very alarmed she quickly runs into the school, but she had no idea where the sound had come from. She focused and reached out with her magic, feeling for something to guide her in the right direction, and found she could vaguely feel Stiles' presence in the school. She hurried to follow the feeling, skidding to a stop near the pools. There she finds Stiles holding up Derek in the middle of the water. "Why are you in the pool? What was that sou- WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" She cuts herself off when she spots the creature on the opposite side of her.
"Derek paralyzed. That, very bad. Doesn't like water." Stiles quickly explained with short breaths.
"Good enough for me." She nods and turns her focus on the creature. "So, you don't like water?" Her eyes glow and she raises her hands palm up, manipulating the water into two tendrils that sway in the air. "Lucky me." She jerks her hand forward and the water tendril snaps like a whip at the creature making it shrink back with a screech. She keeps doing this each time the creature moves closer to keep it at bay while she tries to think of a better way to help.
"I can't stay up any longer. I need something to hold on to." Stiles pants.
"The diving boards." Y/n offers as she keeps looking at the creature. Stiles looks over at them and starts to make his way over. With a quick wave of her hand, Y/n helps him out by giving him a boost, getting him to the diving boards with less effort before going back to her original task. He reaches for the handles, but his hand slides off. The pair sinks for a moment only to be pulled out by a wolfed out Scott who tosses them on dry land and roars.
Angry, the creature dashes up the wall and dodges Y/n's water whips, tackling Scott to the ground. They growl at each other and it wraps it's tail around Scott's ankle, throwing him behind it and into a mirror. It shatters and Scott falls to the ground, the creaute hisses at him. Scott gets up and grabs a long piece of the mirror, brandishing it as a weapon. The creature slowly stalks forward, then stops in its tracks. It tilts its head in confusion as it stares at its reflection in the mirror shard. Scott looks at it in confusion until the creature scales the wall, hops up in the rafters, and crashes through the skylight, running away.
…
Gathering around the hood of a car Scott tells Y/n and Stiles how he and Allison has figured out the bestiary was actually a flashdrive on Gerard's keys. The flashdrive was now plugged into a computer that was propped on the hood of the car, Scott flipping through the pages. "Is that even a language?" Stiles asks.
"I think it's Archaic Latin." Y/n muses.
"You know Archaic Latin?"
"No, but I know a bit of classical Latin. Just a handful to translate some pages in my grimoire."
"How are we supposed to figure out what this thing is?" Scott wonders.
"It's called the kanima." Derek speaks up as he, and a now concious Erica, walk towards them.
"You knew the whole time." Stiles accuses.
"No. Only when it was confused by it's own reflection."
"It doesn't know what it is." Scott realizes.
"Or who."
"What else do you know?" Y/n asked.
"Just stories. Rumors."
"But it's like us?" Scott wonders.
"It's a shape-shifter, yes. But it's- it's not right. It's like a..." He trails off trying to find the right word, one that Stiles supplies.
"Abomination."
Derek nods. He goes to walk away, but Scott stops him. "Derek. We need to work together on this. Maybe even tell the Argents."
"What?" Y/n looks at him in slight shock.
"You trust them?" Derek asks.
"Nobody trusts anyone. That's the problem. While we're here arguing about who's on what side, there's something scarier, stronger, and faster than any of us, and it's killing people! And we still don't even know anything about it!"
"I know one thing. When I find it..." He turns and starts walking away. "I'm gonna kill it."

@writersmonth Prompt: Day 11 - Sweat
Fandom: Teen Wolf | Sterek WC: 900
AO3
XI. Sweat | My Place
“Oh, man, if you’re here to tell me I offer nothing to the Pack, you are about three years too late. Had that breakdown. Over it.” Stiles said simply, staring at the Hunter in front of him. He was still covered in sweat from running for his life when the Hunter first showed up and tried to get both him and Isaac impaled on a pretty arrow. After Isaac had managed to get far away enough that Stiles could breathe again, he had slowed down, unable to keep the pace much longer.
Somewhere in their run, however, the Hunter had started taunting Stiles. The man filed away for later the fact that the Hunter knew both, his name, and the fact that he was human.
They had been running for what felt like hours, but Stiles knew was probably more like 15 minutes. He had gotten pretty good at running, nothing like running for your life to keep your fitness up to date, but he was still human. The Hunter had training on his side.
In the end, they evened out, and were now standing face to face, trying to regain their breaths. Stiles felt himself shivering, but he was sure it was due to the amount of sweat currently drenching his shirt. He didn’t feel afraid. And he could feel Derek’s eyes on him from somewhere to his right.
“Are you really okay with being the token human?” The Hunter spat at him. As if whatever Stiles was, it was way worse than wolves. Because he had chosen to be with them.
“I think of myself more of the comic relief, really. This one here would never smile without me.” Stiles says nonchalantly, pointing to the trees. The Hunter turns immediately, taking out a gun from somewhere on his leg, but before he’s able to point it at anything, Chris Argent gets behind him and disarms him.
“We follow the code, Sebastian.” He said sternly, standing between Sebastian and Stiles.
Stiles smiles widely at him, saluting him. Chris rolls his eyes, but starts dragging Sebastian away, whose eyes are still trying to find something between the trees.
“I don’t need you, Stiles.” Derek admonishes, making his way out of the trees to join the human. Stiles smiles at him, this time a lot more warm and a lot less sarcastic. Derek gives him a small smile in return, and helps him stand up straight. Stiles hadn’t even noticed he had been crouched over until that moment.
“I know, Sourwolf. You choose me because, quite frankly, I’m awesome. So, if Chris has that handled, we better bounce.” Stiles said happily, pointing at what he hoped was the direction of his Jeep, or at least the Pack house. From Derek’s eyebrows he could tell it wasn’t either.
“Did that bother you?” Derek asked gently, guiding Stiles in the right direction. They walked in silence for a few minutes, Derek keeping Stiles from falling on his face about three times without comment.
“No.” Stiles said at last, knowing he wouldn’t get away with such a simple answer. “It used to. But I know my place in the Pack. I know my place with you. Besides, Big Guy, I like it when they underestimate me. It always works in my favor.”
Stiles was expecting Derek to immediately jump to one of his speeches he constantly was trying to give his Betas about teamwork and Pack, but he simply nodded.
“Good.” At Stiles’ confused stare, he added, “It’s good you know your place, Stiles. You are important to us. To me.”
Stiles almost jumped the man in his glee, his arms going around Derek’s waist and just squeezing. Derek let him. “I know that’s hard for you to say, but thank you.”
Derek nodded and continued walking, but he allowed Stiles to walk on like that, his arms still around him. One of Derek’s own arms had made its way around Stiles’ waist and the human couldn’t help but appreciate the long way they had come.
“You smell.” Derek said simply. And Stiles barked out a laugh. They may have come a long way, but they are still themselves.
“I had to run for my life, Derek Hale. I am sorry if I’m a little too sweaty for your senses.”
“I can live with it.” He responded, shrugging. And Stiles just leaned in for a kiss.
“How did you know I was there?” Derek asked finally, once the Pack house was in sight again.
“You always are, Alpha.”
Derek rolled his eyes, but when Stiles felt him pinch his side, he relented. “You are always there, Derek. I just focused on where I could feel you staring. No way you’d leave me alone with a Hunter, code or no code.” Stiles smiled at his boyfriend, finding Derek already looking at him, brows furrowed.
“What is it?”
“Nothing. I’m just processing.”
“Did I break you?” Derek let Stiles go, but kept him close to him.
“I like that you know that.”
Stiles held Derek’s hand all the way back to the house. There had been enough confessions for a single evening, especially when he knew Derek had been worried the Hunters might actually harm someone before they were contained by Chris, as agreed. So he allowed the Alpha to happily walk back in silence. And just because Stiles wasn’t that big of an ass, he actually took a shower as soon as they made it back.

Allison Argent born on January 31, 1994 is the daughter of Chris Argent and Victoria Argent, the niece of Kate Argent, the granddaughter of Gerard Argent, and a descendant of Marie-Jeanne Valet and Henri Argent. Despite being descended from a long line of prolific French Werewolf Hunters, Allison was unaware of her legacy as a member of the Argent Family until shortly after her seventeenth birthday, when her aunt Kate introduced her to the world of the supernatural. Though she was originally resistant to her heritage, Allison finally began to seriously train in combat and the use of a multitude of weapons during her sophomore and junior year at Beacon Hills High School, where she found that she had a natural affinity for the craft. After the death of her mother Victoria, Allison, as the sole remaining woman in the family, became the head of the Argent Hunter clan due to their family's tradition of matriarchal leadership. However, unlike the female Argent leaders who came before her, Allison belonged to a Werewolf pack, and encouraged her father to join her in changing their Code by abandoning the concept of hunting all supernaturals and instead protecting all innocents, whether human or supernatural, from anyone of any species who mean to do them harm. She lived by their new Code, "We protect those who cannot protect themselves," until the end of the third season, when she was fatally stabbed by an Oni's sword during a battle in Insatiable, though she saved the lives of her friends with her sacrifice. Even after her death, her presence continues to live on in her pack, as they continue to fight by her Code. Fifteen years following her death, Scott, Lydia and Malia Tate gathered some of the land where Allison died as well as the Oni Ninjato that took her life and placed them above the Nemeton. The ancient tree restored Allison's physical body and successfully brought her back to life. However, she initially did not recognize neither her father nor her packmates, especially Scott. This state allowed her to be easily influenced by the recently-freed Nogitsune, who decided to use Allison as the perfect weapon to annihilate Scott, the other McCall Pack members and their allies. Fortunately, Scott slowly managed to remind her of her previous life and it was only Lydia's Banshee scream that allowed all of her memories of her loved ones to return to her mind. She then witnessed the Nogitsune be overpowered and incinerated to death along with Derek, who sacrificed himself to ensure the creature was slayed once and for all. She attended the memorial service organized to honor Derek's memory. She is a member of the McCall Pack. She is best friends with Lydia Martin, who is her sister-in-arms and who is often described as being the Stiles to Allison's Scott. She is also a member and matriarch of the Argent Family, and was a junior at Beacon Hills High School at the time of her death. Allison is a very loyal, independent, and strong-willed woman. After she first moved to Beacon Hills and was trapped in the high school by Peter Hale, she expressed her embarrassment and frustration at how weak and powerless she felt to her aunt Kate before vowing to dedicate herself to becoming more powerful. From then on, Allison was determined to learn everything that her father could teach her about being a Hunter so that she could always feel confident in her ability to take care of herself.

Christopher Argent | Request Muse
Age: 43
Fandom: Teen Wolf
Species: Human
Pronouns: He/Him
Romance: Bisexual [male lean]
Face Claim: JR Bourne
About:
Chris was born and raised in Beacon Hills. Unlike his daughter, who grew up oblivious to the entirety of the supernatural world, Chris was trained in it from the day he was born. He grew up learning how to kill every kind of creature his family knew of. However, he was also raised to follow and believe in the family code; “We Hunt Those Who Hunt Us”. Growing up in Beacon Hills also meant that he grew up with the Hale family. Being quite precise, Peter Hale was the young hunter’s best friend. He was well aware that the Hale family was largely wolves, but they were all innocent, so there was no need to harm or kill any of them. He enjoyed Peter’s company, a large reason for this was because even though they were very alike, they were also completely different. When his training began officially, he wasnâ€t fond of having to work around the training to spend time with his friend. He managed to stay close to the wolf, though. Moving on through middle school proved that they were two sides of a coin. Peter was quickly decided to be a star basketball player. As the other teen’s best friend, Chris made sure he could attend as many of the games as he could. Where the wolf was more athletic, Chris proved to be more of a scholar. Almost perfect grades despite the training he was being put through by his father. Even through these well-established differences in their styles, nothing deterred the two boys from being friends. It would be high school that became a bit harder for Chris to face.
Freshman year was easy, a tad frustrating for the first few weeks like every transition. The hunter and the wolf stayed as close as ever, studying, practicing and even training from time to time. Sophomore year would be what put the young hunter on edge. He became aware that his feelings for his friend were a great deal deeper than just a friend. Along with this revelation came the horror that he could never say anything to anyone; especially not to Peter or his father. Gerard could barely handle the fact that Chris was friends with a werewolf. To find out Chris actually loved said wolf? It was dangerous on a different level. He knew saying anything about having romantic feeling for Peter would either get the wolf hurt or killed. Losing his closest friend was one thing that Chris could not conceive of handling. As much as it hurt to not be able to confess how much he loved the wolf, he knew it was for the best. Keeping his best friend, his beloved wolf, alive was one of the most important things to him. He continued to stay as just the best friend, secretly enjoying any contact spending time with Peter brought him. Sophomore year was almost over when Victoria suddenly began showing an interest. He didn’t care much for her, she wasn’t his type in the least, and her every attempt to grab his attention only made him realize how much he loved Peter. He was really looking forward to senior year’s end, when he planned to break away from his family and leave hunting behind. He wasn’t willing to hunt if it cost him being with the one person he actually cared about. The summer before junior year was spent mostly in the woods with Peter; talking about everything from colleges to the various degrees they wanted. It was the most peace Chris had felt in a while. Even though it was two years away, graduation was a light at the end of the tunnel the more he talked with Peter about schools out of state. He could tell Peter how he felt, maybe even be with him, and there would be no reason to hide it.
Chris’ dream of getting out and having a semi-peaceful life began to dwindle when Gerard began to push him to spend time with Victoria. Chris tried to protest, but his father insisted it was a “perfect match” because Victoria was from a family of hunters as well. Forced to appease his father, he began spending time with the other hunter. However, he made sure that he could spend time with Peter, too. He became more than a little annoyed when Victoria began changing plans to interfere with plans he’d already made with Peter. He tried to remain hopeful of his plan to not hunt when he received terrible news. Or rather, overheard terrible news. Someone didn’t like how close he seemed to be with Peter, and arrangements were being made for a marriage after graduation. This news actually broke something in the hunter, and he fell into a slight depression. He was trapped, and there was no way out of it. He couldn’t tell his father he couldn’t marry Victoria. The man would demand to know why. And that would require Chris explaining that he was in love with a man. And not just any man, but a werewolf. Chris knew that would get the wolf killed, and it was ridiculous. His dream of escape was quickly diminishing, a kind of despair taking a piece of him away. With this realization, a kind of resignation drove him to spend as much time as possible with his best friend. He wanted as many memories as possible with Peter, his countdown to freedom becoming a countdown to hell. He wasn’t sure how to explain it, other than his father had arranged a marriage. He wasn’t going to say he was happy, because he knew Peter would call him out on the lie. Neither of them cared for Victoria and her too eager killing ways. When he was forced to propose, he knew he had to tell his wolf. And doing so was the hardest thing he had ever done. He wasn’t surprised when Peter seemed upset, and for a long time, the two males had simply sat quietly. He hated feeling like he had failed, but both of them knew just how terrible Gerard could be.
Even though Gerard told him not to, Chris invited Peter. He wasn’t surprised when Peter showed at the very edge of the party, and even though Chris never walked to him, they met eyes several times. The hunter was grateful for it and continued as best he could, putting on a fake smile and moving about as the reception demanded. As he’d been directed to leave, Chris was almost certain someone had grabbed his hand briefly, but when he had looked, no one was there. He began to move around, unable to handle the thought of watching Peter marry. He felt sick being with the female hunter, because a part of him knew she had no code. Finding that Kate had adopted a small toddler and without Gerard’s okay was a bit disconcerting. But Chris hoped that becoming a parent would ease her into following the code like she had been raised. He enjoyed spending time with little Claudia, and even mentioned a few times how odd it felt that Kate had become a parent first. When Victoria told him she was pregnant, Chris found that for the first time in a long while, he was actually happy. His only demand was that his child - no matter the gender - not be raised as a hunter. It took nearly the entire pregnancy for Gerard and Victoria to agree, which gave Chris a sense of relief. Unlike himself, he could protect his child from the darkness the world possessed for just a little longer. After Allison was born and the two Argent kids began to show interest in archery, Chris and Kate agreed to let the girls learn together. Chris was proud that Allison took so well to the bow and arrow, although he noted how unhappy Kate was that his niece wasn’t perfect. His theory about Kate becoming better because she was a parent began to falter; he was suspicious that Kate was training Claudia without actually saying she was. He worried that the girl might end up like his sister. He never got to know, because just weeks later, the accident happened that supposedly killed the girl.
Chris didn’t speak about his feelings, keeping everything carefully locked away, but seeing his best friend, the man he loved, insane from grief and being comatose, broke Chris in ways he could never explain. The events that followed pulled Allison into the world and he could do little to stop her. He just didn’t realize that he would lose her before she could even graduate high school. In the wake of Allison’s death, Chris vanished to France, not wanting to associate with any bad memories.

I GOT THIS
1. Bruce Wayne - Chris Argent
so i can’t just right off the bat (ha, i made a pun) make Scott as Bruce, yes, they’re both the main character but as a whole?? no. they wouldn’t work. Instead, i assigned Bruce as Chris Argent. they both have similar familial trauma, though in Chris’ case it’s losing his wife, and having his dad and sister try to constantly kill him. Other than that, this is a father-figure character to a lot of others, he’s Allison’s dad and he’s constantly known as the ex-werewolf hunter veteran. he regrets and is very guilty about his family’s role in the deaths of innocents that he wants to do good and he follow’s Allison’s new code to protect instead of hunt. plus, they’re both weapons and fighting experts. their main difference is that Chris’ main weapon is guns and that he’s killed before, and probably would again if it came to it but only in a tough situation.
2. Alfred Pennyworth - Dr. Alan Deaton
i was legit having trouble placing Alfred anywhere with a TW character. Alfred’s the older mentor who knows best and has everyone’s back. he’s everyone’s favorite. and he doesn’t hold back. the closest in TW is Deaton, also known as the druid emissary to the McCall pack and a father figure to Scott. he’s the guy that gives people advice, he tells them what they need to do to win. he helps take care of them if they’re hurt or near death. he’s the closest thing we got to Alfred. but no one could ever be Alfred.
3. Dick Grayson - Scott McCall
now THIS i can get behind, we have a young, slightly fatherless, youngster who's shoved into this world despite never asking for it. Bruce built Robin, he made Dick Grayson into the Boy Wonder, and even if Dick is a better vigilante than him— that didn't make it okay. Scott, meanwhile, never asked for the bite, never wanted to be a werewolf, and spent the entire first season trying to be normal again. they're both the young one in the beginning who eventually develops into a leadership role, one so big that their previous leader sees how better Scott/Dick is in the role. even though i didn't put Derek as Batman, Derek is the last main Alpha before Scott, and he recognized that Scott was already an Alpha— albeit a symbolic one for his human pack and then progressed into an actual True Alpha that Derek stood by him. he didn't care that this kid is younger than him, he knows that Scott is the better man and the better Alpha and he follows him because he believes in him. Derek's speech to the twins about Scott near the 3B finale still stays with me, "When there's no chance of winning, he keeps fighting. When all hope is lost, he finds another way. And when he's beaten down, he stands up again!" you go over to Bruce and Dick, and its said time and time again that Nightwing is what Batman should have been. he's the better version of Batman, what Bruce wanted to be. but he couldn't so instead he raised someone else to do it. and i can see Bruce letting Dick the reins for Gotham, if you haven't noticed Dick's his favorite kid.
4. Barbara Gordon- Allison Argent/Lydia Martin
first duo pairing! not only are Allison and Lydia best friends, but they kinda more or less embody Barbara. let me be more specific:
Batgirl!Barbara - Allison
Oracle!Barbara - Lydia
Allison fits best with Babs during her Batgirl run, not only were they once of the first girls on the respective teams, but they were ones that learned some serious fight moves and weapons training as teenagers rather than a child like Dick Grayson. plus there's a love story between her and Dick. (dickory shipper thou)
Lydia fits Babs as Oracle after the Joker leaves her paralyzed. Babs becomes the person in the chair, the one you go to for information. Lydia's one of— if not the— most smartest members of the pack, and she's a banshee. She predicts death. She's a legit oracle if you think about it.
5. Jason Todd - Derek Hale/Peter Hale
another duo pairing! see, Derek is basically what Jason was before he got crowbared by the Joker. Peter Hale is Jason after he was brought back, the Red Hood. and then it comes back to Derek again still with Red Hood except now he hangs out with his family again. so, they all are still capable of killing, they aren't afraid of heading in that direction. when Derek became an Alpha he was all big and macho and the big bad wolf and its a bit similar to how Jason first was as Robin, just having a great time till they're both brought down by some rough stuff. Peter was brought back and is extra murdery just like Jason. Derek is also the most distant of all Scott's pack members, he's the oldest and an adult, while Jason is just trying his best to be a lone wolf. (he fails at it some times)
6. Cassandra Cain - Malia Tate
i think it speaks for itself, but it's also funny because they're almost inverse mirrors of each other. Cassandra was raised, not to speak, but to observe. she reads people and their body language meanwhile, Malia who was stuck as a coyote in the woods for more or less a decade has a horrible read on people and very little social skills. coyote's themselves are very solitary. they're also both more comfortable with the killing of their enemies than other members of their respective packs/teams. plus they happen to be both children of villains/anti-heroes (Lady Shiva, David Cain) & (Peter Hale, the Desert Wolf 'Corinne')
7. Tim Drake - Stiles Stilinski
whoever knows Tim Drake and whoever knows Stiles Stilinski has got to know it's a perfect match. Tim's the Robin that correctly deduced who Batman and Robin (Dick Grayson) was. He's a genius, he's coffee addicted, he's bisexual, and he tends to avoid sleep to do research and whatnot. Stiles, is a genius is his own right, he figured out Scott was a werewolf before Scott. and he's usually the one who figures out the bad guy (sometimes even by accident! looking at you, matt). he's also obviously bi-coded, he's bi, i don't make the rules.
8. Stephanie Brown - Kira Yukimura
one of the more funny characters, Stephanie came in as Spoiler and she's weirdly not as liked by some people when compared to Babs or Cass. she and Kira both tend to overthink things and speak without thinking. they can both be cheerful and driven, and sometimes they doubt their abilities. they both don't particularly think highly of themselves either. Stephanie has some trouble with low self-esteem and Kira did too in the beginning, as well as loneliness due to moving halfway across the country. Other than that, if you haven't noticed it, Stephanie's a huge dork. it's adorable, sorry, adorkable. and so's Kira and it's why we love her. between the awkward interactions around their crushes and their total badassery when fighting enemies, it's no wonder these two should be matched.
9. Duke Thomas - Mason Hewitt
he's legit smarter than most his teammates, either in an intellectual way or a just a common sense way because Duke at least had a semi-normal upbringing compared to the rest of these guys, plus they're both one of the later added in characters
10. Damien Wayne - Liam Dunbar
a child. an angry child. an angry devil child. while Liam is not Chris' son, he's Scott's first beta. otherwise known as a son/little brother figure to him similar to Damien and Dick.
extra:
Jim Gordon - Sheriff Stilinski
Lee Thompkins - Melissa McCall
Selina Kyle - Braeden (but just because of the vibes, not any love story connections) they're both badasses in illegal ways. one's a thief, the other a mercenary.
i wrote a lot and every section seemed to get shorter, did ya notice? eh, hoped you liked it.
characters i didn’t use because i couldn’t find a definite match (but if anyone else has one then let me know):
Kate Kane -
Lucius Fox -
Luke Fox -
Clayface
Jackson Whittemore
Coach
Theo Raeken (although i guess i could see him as another Jason Todd but much more eviler bc he came in with bad intentions while all Jason did was attempt to steal the Batmobile's wheels in front of Batman) (they both did die and come back at least) (but Jason's the better man)
Batfam as Teen Wolf characters?
I'll be honest, this has been sitting in my inbox for over a year and I still don't know anything about Teen Wolf other than the fact that they recently got Destieled

It only recently dawned on me... was Kate the Argent Matriarch in season 1? And then it passed to Victoria in season 2 for only a few months before her death?
How can we ever criticize Derek's short time as an Alpha when he at least held onto his power longer than Victoria Argent held on to hers? Which she mostly spent pretending to be an administrative assistant to her father-in-law in a high school?
the thing about the argents is that they are lying their asses off about being matriarchal. chris is so goddamn deluded y'all.
in code breaker, when kate is confronted by chris at the hale house when she has scott at gun point she tells chris "i was following orders" whose orders was she following? who was victoria argent playing second fiddle to? who manipulated allison? who was meeting with duecalion under false pretenses and instead attacked him, blinded him and killed his own men?
gerard argent.
i don't think it's coincidental that we learn nothing about chris and kate's mother. she is of no-consequence to the story. she did not matter.
in this era of argent history the "woman are leaders" is a line. it's a bunch of bullshit. gerard has been pulling the strings for decades. he wants to play kindly old grandpa while he sits on his liar's chair plotting genocide.
the argent's decline, their decent into madness is gerard's doing. it's his personal vendetta. his indulgence in violence and war. his blood lust. he doesn't care about anyone that isn't himself and his ends.
gerard costs them everything in the end.
kate and victoria had false power. puppets on strings. the smokescreen to his endgame.
even allison was ensnared in gerard's web and lies of manipulation put on the same path as kate and hoodwinked into thinking it was her own decision.
while peter is the one who killed laura and it's a debate on how truly culpable he was it was hunters that desecrated her body. i think it was gerard argent that cut her in half in a rage at his plan at getting the bite from her falling through. that is my own speculation though.

i just need to know that something’s real. ” (Stiles to Chris)
Chris was making dinner as Stiles spoke, pausing to set the knofe down and walked across the room to pull Stiles to him. "Hey, this is real, Stiles. We're real. I know Peter being missing hurts, believe me. But we will find him, I swear. We will bring him home." He promised, kissing Stiles' head. "Don't give up yet, okay?"

Promises Kept || lostshieldandhammer
@lostshieldandhammer continued from here
Derek watched Chris carefully. “There’s something you’re not telling me, Christopher,” he said quietly. “It’s in your heartbeat. I know you don’t mean Steve any harm. I’m not even sure anyone can help him at this point. He’s… ever since Peter died… he’s been… a wreck. He’s pregnant, Chris. Are you sure you want that responsibility as well?”
“Leave it alone, Derek. Just listen.” Chris turned and barely withheld a human growl. “Don’t you think I know that?!” he half snapped. “I made Peter a promise that if anything ever happened to him, I would take care of Steve. Baby or not, I intend to keep that promise.” He walked towards Steve’s room, the conversation done as far as he was concerned, to knock on the door. “Steve? IT’s Chris...may I come in?” he asked.

Speaking of Chris Argent adopting every werewolf in a 5 mile radius, please imagine him accidentally mentoring another young pack in France, and the pack just going "yes, this one. He'll be our new father figure :D"
#teen wolf#Chris Argent#He and Isaac have been in town for a couple of weeks and have lived together longer than that#So Chris always smells a little bit like werewolf#Enough that when the local pack — a bunch of bitten people in their late teens/early 20s — gets cornered by hunters they think he's /safe/#He is obviously and threatened the hunters to get out of town and now its been 3 months and they still follow him around like lost ducklings#Because they found out he's a hunter halfway through the whole get-the-hell-out-of-my-town-or-else speech#But he's on their side and actually knows what he's doing#(they also pretty much adopted Isaac within 5 minutes of meeting him)#Isaac who finds the entire thing way too funny and still uses the 'another werewolf child?!' line every chance he gets#Chris gets semi-ironic best pack dad macaroni art on father's day#(and only half the tears are from remembering that Allison did the same when she was 5)#Just— Chris Argent being continuously and completely /baffled/ that these kids trust him#And overhearing Isaac tell one of the new kids — barely 12 and distrustful of all of them — we protect those who cannot protect themselves#Because at its core that's what this is that's what Allison's new code had always been leading to#Family safety pack#And realizing that this is exactly what Allison had always wanted their legacy to be#Realizing that this is what /Chris/ wants their legacy to be#(this was supposed to be crack and then I made myself cry)#(dammit me)

The choice was one Chris heard every so often, so he didn’t question it, relaxing as Seth moved. He reached to pet through brown hair, leaning forward to kiss Seth. “Then of course you can, beautiful.” He assured, leaning back. “Let me watch you, honey.”
themusechronicles:
Chris arched a brow. “That’s because you promptly fall asleep after a good fucking.” He countered, leaning to kiss the other. “Make your choice, Seth.”
“That’s because you fuck me so good I need to sleep.” Seth chuckled. Seth kissed him back before nodding. Seth got down, licking his lips as he slowly dropped to his knees. “I really want to take care of you tonight, love.” He smiled, moving his hand to rub over the other’s crotch before slowly unzipping Chris’ jeans.

The pack we wanted in teen wolf, an easy guide.
ALPHA - Derek Hale(boy needs good things, also born werewolf and knows things)
2nd in command- Scott mccall (cause you can be the main character without being an entitled dick, also single boy needs to be single)
Emissaries- Stiles(also alpha mate and spark) & Lydia(banshee) the two of them as communication and planners would be terrifying. Lydia can be more brutal in her plans and often sometimes forgets thins, but pack mom Stiles and her husband Parrish always bring her back
BETAS- Erica, Boyd(3rd in charge I feel this goes without saying), Isaac, Jackson,Ethan, Cora, Kira(kitsune), Malia (coyote), Liam, Theo (redeemed), Mason, Corey, Parrish (hellhound), Hayden.
HUMAN ELEMENT- Allison (ex hunter) she is protective of her friends and pack. Makes sure any hunters they encounter follow the code.
Danny(hacker) finds information, gets paperwork for them, keeps them safe
Melissa(healer) looks after everyone
GUIDES - Peter hale (has no desire to be alpha again after the first time, wants the hale pack to grow and is happy to have a large family again.)
John Stilinski - will die fighting for the pack
Chris Argent - knows how to protect the pack and how to deal with enemies

You cannot convince me that during Allison's brilliant dark arc, that Chris wasn't having his eyes opened as if looking in a mirror almost and perhaps seeing Kate in his daughter. Was he having flashbacks to his and Kate's upbringing under Gerard's tutelage? He saw her being brainwashed by his father and the path that was leading down.
The Argent's Season 2 arc -- Allison trying to cope with the reality of her own family and her place in it; Chris trying to accept that he was the only hunter who seemed to give a crap about the Code; Victoria putting her own deranged, violent spin on how a mother's desire to protect her children can too often veer into control -- is all about integrity versus corruption.
With their silver bullets forged as testimony to the Code, the Argent family was supposed to be all about an ancient and honorable calling: protecting humanity from monsters who would prey on them, "We hunt those who hunt us." For some, that was true, but for others (Kate and Gerard) they used that calling as a shield for their own selfish actions, the very definition of corruption. Allison, Chris, and Victoria started the series with their integrity intact only for it to be challenged in Season 2.
When you look at Allison's arc from a certain perspective, it's not all that dark. She didn't go after innocents. She didn't try to kill Scott or Lydia. She went after those monsters who were killing human beings: Derek Hale's Pack. It can't be ignored that every single murder (with the exception of the homeless omega) in Seasons 1 and 2 were committed by a Hale or by a Hale beta. That's 14 in less than three months, by the way. And that doesn't even take into account the two times a Hale specifically intended to kill Allison or the very recent battle to keep the Hale Pack from murdering her best friend after failing to do it the first time. As she yelled at Derek in Chaos Rising, where more Hale betas are off to kill people "I'm not the one turning teenagers into killers!"
Then why is it corruption? Because she wasn't trying to uphold the Code when she pursued Derek and his pack; she was using the Code as a cover for her own grief about her mother's death and her own hatred of feeling powerless. Enforcing the Code shouldn't bring her pleasure; it shouldn't be used to deal with her own tragedy or weakness. That is the path she almost didn't avoid, and also why she tried to reform the Code into something more clearly focused on protection rather than vengeance.
Chris's temptation was different. It wasn't one of action; it was one of passivity. It was comfortable to take that role; he was raised to be a soldier, not a leader. But he's not an idiot; he realizes that other members of his family have taken the Code and tossed it out a window. He argues with his father about his tactics, but he doesn't take a stand until the end of the season. He acted as if the Code was all important, but he couldn't bring himself to stand against his father, because that would require him to stand with the creatures he had hunted for most of his life. But, in the end, and he could be criticized for acting too late, he made the choice. "You sometimes find yourself surprised by which side you end up on." (I love how this statement echoes and refutes Kate's earlier statement "And even then, sometimes - You can surprise yourself.")
Chris had to learn that following the Code personally and scrupulously is not enough; it has to be defended. No matter how cowed by his father (and I love how J.R. Bourne showed how intimidated Chris was by his acting choices), the Code is meaningless if he watches people like his sister and his father subvert it. It was a hard lesson. "And if I had done something that night, then maybe my sister wouldn't be the monster that she is today."
Unfortunately, Victoria failed to resist the temptations and fell to corruption. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a mother wanting to protect her daughter from the dangers of the world, especially since Victoria understood the world is filled with monsters. But she, as we can assume all Argent Matriarchs had done, swore to uphold the Code, and Scott was not guilty of anything worthy of death. Her authority doesn't give her the right to execute people for what they might do; no one should have that right.
Regardless of why Derek bit her, her reaction to it was a form of redemption, a way for her character to acknowledge that she had violated the Code by which she had lived her life and to make up for what she had done. We could argue whether her act of atonement went too far or not, but it was an act of integrity in contrast to her earlier act of corruption.
It would be easy to place the Argents into the role of Mindless Bigots, but that would be missing some of the truly great acting and storytelling of Teen Wolf. I'm glad I noticed it.

“If I die, I’m going to haunt your ass.” - Stiles and Jackson
800+ words under the cut
i have no explanations and i am not sorry
click here to read on my blog instead of the dash
“Stiles. I swear to whatever god you pray to that this better not be our ride. Or I will strangle you.”
“Kinky.” Stiles meets Jackson’s gaze for a few seconds and then looks at the car pulling up to the curb. “What’s the matter with it?”
“You seriously have to ask?” Jackson glares at the car and then slowly turns the glare on Stiles.
“It’s an Uber. What? Are you too good for Uber now?”
“Despite how many we’ve been taking every week, no. But I’d rather not get in one that looks like it belongs to a serial killer!”
“It does not look…” Stiles gives the car a once over. “Okay, well it doesn’t look like a serial killer’s car. Maybe, like. I dunno. The car of a dude that is straddling the line between manslaughter and self-defense.”
Jackson takes a deep breath and glares at Stiles a little harder.
“If I die I’m going to haunt your ass,” he growls. Then he yanks open the back door and climbs inside.
By the time Stiles clambers in behind him Jackson is already busy charming their potential future murderer and getting recommendations on where to eat and which shops downtown are the best for non-kitschy souvenirs. Which is hilarious. Considering he and Jackson both spent the first eighteen years of their lives in this town.
Also he’s pretty sure his dad’s been called to the restaurant their driver is recommending more than once for various brawls and health code violations. So he, personally, wouldn’t call it ‘the crown jewel of Beacon Hills’ but, you know, to each their own and all that.
“No that sounds like a great place,” Jackson says sweetly when Stiles snorts at the latest recommendation and their driver looks back at them curiously. “My friend here is just an asshole.”
Oh. He got ‘asshole’ and ‘my friend’ both. He’s not sure if he’s truly being that much of a dick or if Jackson’s just having a bad day; it’s hard for him to gauge his dickishness sometimes. He slides his hand across the seat between them and taps the outside of Jackson’s thigh with his pinky. Jackson rolls his shoulder a little, shifts his leg to pin Stiles’ hand under his thigh, and glances at Stiles from the corner of his eye. Option A then.
“Dad said that as long we promise to meet him for a meal before noon tomorrow he’ll keep Parrish out of our hair today.” Jackson snickers softly. Yeah. He knows as well as Jackson does that it’s a lost cause but Dad will at least try for them. That totally counts. “Pops said he can’t promise to keep Derek reined in. But hopefully no police escort this time.”
“I’m more worried about Danny and Boyd deciding that we need the entire fire department as a welcome wagon.”
“Police escort? Fire department? Who, exactly, are you two?”
The slow smile that crawls across Jackson’s face warms Stiles down to his very soul. It’s the same smug grin that he used hate so much. Now he adores it.
“Jackson Whittemore-Stilinski. Newest addition to the Hale law firm here in town.” Their driver’s face goes pale.
“St-Stilinski. As in. Uh. Sheriff Stilinski?”
“That would be my Dad.” Stiles grins. “Though I believe he goes by Sheriff Stilinski-Argent these days now that he and Pops got married. Do you know my Pops too? Chris Argent?”
“Argent? The, uh…”
“Firearms dealer? Yeah. That’s him.”
“So you?”
“Stiles Whittemore-Stilinski at your service.”
The car pulls up to the curb. “Here’s your stop,” their driver breathes out shakily. “Have a, uh, nice day.”
“You too!” Stiles slides out of the car and Jackson follows him. He waves cheerfully as the car pulls away. “So you think he’s a human sort of criminal or the supernatural kind?”
Jackson snorts as he wraps his arm around Stiles’ waist and tugs him towards the house.
“Don’t care. I’m sure I’ll see him later either way.”
“Now don’t go taking all my fun, Mr. Whittemore-Stilinski.” Stiles presses a kiss to Jackson’s temple.
“I wouldn’t dream of it, Mr. Whittemore-Stilinski.”
“Oh my God,” a voice drawls from behind them. “I didn’t realize you two could get any more disgusting.”
Jackson sighs. “How did we forget to ask for someone to be on Peter duty?”
“Why are you asking me? He’s your boss.”
“Yeah, well, he’s your Sugar Daddy.”
“Excuse me? No. Peter is not a Sugar Daddy.” Stiles looks over his shoulder and winks at Peter. “He’s a DILF.”
“That is your father’s boyfriend.”
“What can I say? Dad has good taste. So does Pops.”
“God this family is so fucked up,” Jackson mutters as he unlocks the door. “I’m taking a nap.”
“Love you too, babe,” Stiles calls out as the door shuts behind his husband. “Well, Peter. Looks like it’s you and me for a couple hours.” He pulls his phone out of his pocket and opens up his photos. “What do you know about this guy? He was our Uber driver and he was super sketchy.”
Peter laughs. “Good to have you boys home.”
“Try not to get arrested,” Jackson yells out the bedroom window. “I don’t actually start work until Monday.”
