Teen Wolf Opinions
Tumblr media
Teen Wolf opinions but I don’t explain anything
Season 3 is the best season of the show. I don’t just mean 3B, I mean both parts of the season.
Scott and Stiles’ miscommunication trope in season 5 was dumb as shit and makes Scott look like a bad friend
Erica, Boyd and Isaac deserved a lot better. Both in the sense that they needed therapy but also they were wasted
Kira’s story was also wasted and having a movie where the Nogitsune and Oni come back (a story she was a big part of in the show) but not having Kira there is weird. Yes I know about the controversy. Y’all shoulda paid Arden her money.
Stydia was done terribly. Idk what Jeff was thinking. Why wait that long?
Season 3 had the best fight scenes because it was obvious who outranked who
Allison did not care about Isaac. He was a replacement. That was all.
Lydia was weird to still fuck around with Aiden knowing his folks were actively hunting her friends
The debate on whether Allison or Kira is better is weird to me. I promise you can like them both
I love Derek but him going around and biting teenagers with shitty lives was shitty
Parish and Lydia should not have been a ship
Teen Wolf is corny and cheesy as shit, but that’s ok. It’s part of the charm.
Them bringing back Kate and Gerard isn’t something I felt was necessary. I would’ve preferred new villains.
Cora and Isaac should’ve came back for season 6
Speaking of Cora, her and Stiles could’ve been a good couple
It would make sense if everyone in the town knew about the supernatural but just minded their business. That hospital, sheriff station and school always got bullshit going on and you mean to tell me no one noticed besides Danny? Don’t lie to me.
My eyes hurt so imma end it here. Maybe I’ll make more or explain some of these later.

If I had written Teen Wolf and I wanted any of the Argents to be redeemable or that their moral code (moral codes are bullshit if you inherit your morals then they you will warp your actions to fit them but thats a personal philosophy) was worth something I wouldn’t have them make their money selling guns. That giant house for a family of three that they payed for by selling guns? If I wanted an audience to believe that they are trying to help people and that the cause is important to them they would not do it in such luxury. They could have had any day job an be regular hunters as a cover. Which also would have also been a cover to train Allison. Just something about them having enough money to fly off to France (while the teenagers that family tortured are still missing) just makes me flinch. And then the protagonists family has financial issues from the start. Melissa McCall makes sure to assure Scott that they will be ok if she misses a shift for his game. He knows enough about her financial situation that she thinks thats what he’s stressed about. Thats possibly why he got that job at the animal clinic. Its just such an odd choice and one reason I never liked Chris Argent.
It was never explained how the Argents actually accumulated their wealth - as I don’t think selling guns as a side hustle would have built up that much of a fortune. So it’s implied it must be generational wealth, or that maybe they got paid for some hunting jobs. The Calaveras clearly deal with money in their work so maybe the argents were the same.
Teen Wolf touched on the theme of money problems multiple times in the show but it never felt like it got followed through well. Like when the Stilinskis were struggling to pay Stiles’ medical bills and Eichen bills.
In terms of their morality, almost every single Argent in the show twists their own perception of reality and uses ‘the code’ to justify their actions that only serve their own personal beliefs or needs. They are almost all hypocrites.
Kate is a bit of an outlier because she never really claims to follow the code, her family just assumes that she is. She instead uses it as a cover up while she follows her own agenda (the one her father instilled in her, no doubt) of murdering werewolves because she considers them to be less than human and thus not worthy of life. We don’t ever see her hold any fear towards werewolves until she’s literally in Peter’s claws about to die. So she isn’t hunting them because she fears what they are capable of and wants to stop bad from happening (which is Chris’ reason). But Kate goes against her own beliefs when she chooses to stay alive and transition into a werejaguar. She becomes the very thing she has deemed as an animal unworthy of life. That’s pretty hypocritical, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. From here, the show could have gone two ways that would have made much more sense than what they actually did. A - Kate could have shown inner conflict or turmoil about her decision, hating the ‘monster’ she’s become but also not being able to unalive herself. This would make sense for her later story arc where she helps Gerard start the supernatural war/genocide. Or, option B - Kate can change her opinion about the supernatural because she’s become one. She can embrace it. But then her later storyline wouldn’t have made sense.
Additionally, there is Victoria, who claims to stick to the code, but we see her break this to try and kill Scott - an innocent teenager - over something as trivial as dating her daughter behind her back. It takes some of the impact away from her death scene and it makes me beleive she doesn’t do this because of the code as she claims, but because she despises werewolves that much that she can’t bear to become one. Hence, she follows her own moral beliefs over the code.
We have talked about Allison, but to summarise, Allison does what Allison feels like doing and then twists her perception of reality afterwards to make herself feel better about it or to excuse what she’s done. She’s often driven by her personal feelings and goals, and is very much driven by her desire for power. Now, these traits don’t have to make her a bad person when balanced correctly, but Allison’s character wasn’t balanced and she didn’t have much of an arc. She never developed because no other character called her out on her behaviour because Scott thought the sun and moon shone out of Allison’s butt crack. Because Scott believed she could do no wrong, no one else would really say anything to her. The show marketed her in a way that was contradictory to her actions and who she actually was on screen.
Gerard’s hypocrisy is rooted in him going against his strongest beliefs (that the supernatural is the scum of the Earth) when he wants to become a werewolf after learning of his cancer. Big ol hypocrite!
Now for my favourite Argent, Chris. Now, I actually really liked Chris by the end of the show. I enjoyed his character arc. To me he always felt the most human of the Argents from the beginning (except for Allison until season 2). We consistently see Chris being the voice of reason and reminding his family about the code, pulling them away from what was wrong. Whilst he definitely wasn’t perfect, he was far better than the others, which I would give him credit for considering the family he was raised (and brainwashed) by. From his story about his best friend turning and comparing him to a rabid dog, we see Chris’ humanity and his purpose for what he does is due to fear of what werewolves are capable of. This isn’t his fault - all he has been taught is that they are animals who can’t control themselves, and like animals who act aggressively and harm others, they must be put down. Chris sees this isn’t true when he is forced to work with Scott and we see him open his mind to the supernatural because for the first time in his life he is seeing evidence that what he’s been taught isn’t the full truth. Some may argue he changes for Allison’s sake and is doing it to mend his relationship with his daughter, but we see him continue with this behaviour after Allison’s death. It proves he truly did change, which is a difficult thing to do for a man of his age, especially one who lived his life the opposite way for so long. I imagine being raised by Gerard with Kate as a sister wouldn’t have been easy. In comparison, Chris is very well adjusted.

Idk if I'll get any teen wolf interaction from my reblogs sprees but let me just say:
I do not ship Derek and Stiles, it feels creepy and gross to me with Derek as an adult and Stiles as a teen regardless of how young of an adult Derek is or isn't.
Similarly, I don't like the Lydia Parrish ship, for the same reason.
And I Really don't like the Peter and Stiles thing?
Not a ship thing but I also Do like Scott. He has flaws and doesn't always do the right thing, I'll never argue that he's perfect, but I do like him. So I will also probably block or avoid any Scott Bashing folk
Anyway, I'm not gonna argue w people Abt it I'm just gonna block. But ye, to be aware of if you're a teen wolf fan checking out my blog 💖

you can say what you want about Derek Hale but at the end of the day, when Stiles introduced him as his cousin Miguel, Derek still "yes and"ed him. A girlie would have written that in a fanfic and people would've said it was out of character. The children (Derek) crave shenanigans and tomfoolery, remember that.

Queerbaiting sucks... but
I find it so affirming as a person who struggles with their romantic orientatation. I just live for that state of not quite friends/not quite lovers.
Like yes, they are partners, yes, they live and die for eachother, yes, every other relationship they have loses all meaning compared to them. But also no, they haven't kissed, and they don't want to kiss, and yet, somehow, every single word, every single glance, every single touch carries so much meaning and conveys so much love because this amount of platonic love is usually unheard of and they don't want the other to misunderstand. And I just- aaah, it gives me so much hope and reminds me that romantic love isn’t the only type of love worth experiencing and showing on screen/paper.
I do wish it was done intentionally and wasn’t just a product of homophobia and capitalism. Like I really, really hate the reason I get this representation. Like, it also leaves a somewhat sour taste in my mouth, because I can see that if the world was more accepting, it would probably be a romantic relationship.
(I sometimes see people calling queercoding queerbaiting, and just to make it clear, that isn't what i'm talking about)

I’m sorry but if they wanted me to understand why Allison became a hunter than maybe her first introduction to the job shouldn’t have been Derek being tortured.
Like I respect Allison for wanting to be a stronger character and the show was trying to show that not all hunters are bad and Allison is breaking the family trauma. But the way she was introduced into hunting and kinda going on a rampage and shooting her classmates but she “gets better” just leaves a very icky feeling.

If you like Supernatural please give Grimm a chance. I love it so much, a guy who can see supernatural creates that he has to kill. He has to reaseach them and find the specific ways he has to kill them.

I think what most people/writers forget in tw fanfics (often thiam's) is that Theo wasn't just a regular bad guy that did some shits to the pack. He's not like Peter who screw them over a few times, nor like Argent who tried to kill them before but made up after. He isn’t like any bad guys they've ever fought because he never hurt from the outside but from the inside. He can't be forgiven as easy as them, even for Scott because it was Theo's who manipulated him and his pack and made them fall apart, made them ahve doubts on eachothers.
Theo's a master at manipulation. We have to remember that, that guy didn't just come and bond and then tried to kill Scott.
He helped them, he became friend, took their trust, each by each, even Stiles at some point. Everyone. He was a friend to almost everyone, he erased every doubt they could have built. He even went to the point where he was so in sync with them he hugged Scott, Malia and Mason in the same 5 minutes, and they were happy. He made them get attached to him, really trust him. It's not just a small emotional attack, it's even a divine move at this point. Even the flaws he had (giving his library card to Donovan, his father signature) he corrected them with lies but gave sense to it.
People don't realise how he was strong and how his betrayal hurt the pack way more than any other enemy did. He shred the pack apart, used his bond with each one to turn them against each other without even putting any doubts on himself.
Anyway I was rewatching s5 so I've picked up everything and since I've been reading some fics I don't see much people talking about it and making it seems like the pack to forgive Theo was easy as forgiving Argent.

Idk why I'm thinking about this at 3am while I'm making garlic bread but Peter Hale did in fact love his family (I'm mainly thinking Cora and Derek. I forgot how he felt about other Hale's) but to him, his own goals ALWAYS came first. Maybe I'll think differently once I actually sleep but that's where my head is at rn.

So I read A Stitch in Time and one result of that which I was certainly not expecting was that I feel so much sympathy for Enabran Tain. Garak's life is a tragedy, but Tain's is a fucking black comedy.
I mean, he's a terrible person and an absolute shitbag, but can you imagine? You have this kid. You go to all the trouble of arranging for him to be raised in a family situation where he won't be rejected from society for being your bastard. You get him into the nicest indoctrination school where he can hobnob with plenty of uppercrust kids. You get him a job in your Order and all the proper training. And he's actually, like, really good at it. But he has this fatal flaw of being completely incapable of not making stupid, short-sighted, emotional decisions.
A scene I imagine has to have happened just prior to Garak and Tain's confrontation at the end of part II:
Tumblr media
Like goddamn. When Tain asked "what's your plan for getting rid of her husband?" and Garak's just like "plan what plan." Dude. I'M disappointed, I can only imagine the guy who's job it is to know and plan for everything isn't at least as disappointed.
I know he didn't actually, but do you think there was ever a time when Tain wanted to be like, You know what. Just go back to Tolan and become a gardener. Join that illegal hippie cult. It's fine.

I think we need to talk about teen wolf season 5 again. The lack of communication throughout season 5a is insane. It was done on purpose and it drives me crazy because if someone stopped and had an actual conversation to explain what was going on in their head, I don’t think Theo would have been able to manipulate the pack the way he did.
I love the season and it has its flaws, and it’s not perfect by any means, but it also makes me think about how people can become so caught up in their own world. They become lost in their own thoughts that they fail to realize they’re not seeing things from a clear perspective or vision.
It’s wonderful to use in writing because it’s something we all experience, but when it comes down to it, Theo wasn’t the only cause of the pack’s shift to being broken. The cracks that were being made in the McCall pack all throughout season 5 was complex and it was a multitude of factors that caused the pack to become disconnected from each other.
The miscommunication and lack of understanding caused a ripple effect that led to everyone’s inability to make clear and informed decisions.
That’s why you have the Stiles and Scott feud, Liam almost killing Scott, the Malia and Stiles break up, and Theo’s fight with Scott by himself in the library.
I love this show. That’s all.

Teen Wolf Master Rec List
As I appear to have truly jumped on this train I thought I'd pull together some of my favourite fics. This is no particular order and I've tried to organise them vaguely!
Almost all of these are Stiles-centric because I love that boy.
Canon Divergence
What Goes Around by KouriArashi (71k)
“Well,” Stiles says, “if they’re going to hunt werewolves, I’m going to hunt them.” It’s a ridiculous statement from a ten-year-old, but he’s obviously one hundred percent sincere. For the first time since the fire, Peter feels life stir inside him, feels purpose. It’s kismet, clearly. He’ll never meet the child he would have had with Olivia. Instead he’s met this boy, this brilliant, determined, cynical child with a world of potential. Peter kneels down in front of him so they’re at eye level. “How do you feel about doing that together?”
Because sometimes you just want to see Stiles go on a murder spree and let's be real Peter is the best murder mentor out there. If you kill a murderer, the number of murderers in the room stays the same. If you kill ten, that's when you start impacting the bottom line.
My other fav of this subgenre of revenge fantasy is Vengeance Looks Good On You, Sweetheart by cywscross which is murder husbands Stiles and Peter taking care of argent business on an international level.
when you're going through hell (keep going for me) by cywscross (57k)
Peter is abandoned in the aftermath of the fire, and Eichen House takes ruthless advantage. Six years later, when he's finally able to move again, he finds himself in a cell with a boy in a straitjacket. (Kate’s biggest mistake was letting Peter live. Eichen House’s biggest mistake was letting Peter meet Stiles.)
This is unhinged and BAMF and so, so good. The angst is real.
Love Thy Neighbour by cywscross (22k)
In which Stiles is an emancipated minor, and – after Peter Hale comes back from the dead – gains a zombie werewolf for a neighbour.
cywscross is going to be a theme here, this is so wonderfully fluffy without pushing anyone out of character. The relationship is built slowly and realistically, great stuff.
We'll Get Out Of This by Lamely_Me (52k)
Jackson needs a pack. It's not easy to admit, but he needs one especially under the circumstances that he turned into a werewolf. The issue is that the Hale pack isn't really a pack. It's a ticking time bomb that's bound to end up with more dead bodies. Mark his words, he's going to leave this shit town behind him. Leave this pack that hates him, this Alpha that abuses him any chance he gets, this place that literally fucking killed him. He'll get out of this hell he's trapped in. And he does. He just never thought that would include Stiles Stilinski.
Not a pairing I ever thought I'd enjoy but this fic is beautiful, broken people putting each other back together and finding a new family after their first ones righteously fucked up.
Ficlets
Touch Therapy by syriala (4k)
“You’re hugging Peter,” Derek said from behind them, confusion very obvious in his voice. “Yep,” Stiles gave back, not moving from his current position, speaking more into Peter’s hair than anything. “Why are you hugging him?” Derek asked, and Stiles shrugged as best as he could, with his arms still around Peter. “He just woke up from a coma. I don’t even want to think about how long he went without a hug,” Stiles gave back. Or the one where Stiles derails Peter’s plans by aggressively hugging the shit out of him.
Buuut what if Stiles just fixed everything by hugging things?
The best helping hand is at the end of your own arm by FeelingsDusk (2k)
Stiles draws the line at being kidnapped and tortured by a geriatric fascist and having to sacrifice his poor Roscoe to save people that didn't appreciate it afterwards, thank you very much. (Peter is smitten by his approach to self-sufficiency.)
Stiles might not have souped up werewolf muscles but that's never been a problem before and he is definitely not letting this shit stand. He's enough god dammit.
Fix its
hope is the thing with feathers by ShanaStoryteller (94k for the whole series)
Stiles is ten when he saves the Hales from their burning home and Derek from a wolfsbane bullet, and this establishes a pattern that seem to continue indefinitely.
This whole series is really fun (I'm also a Merlin fan so the nod makes me happy), the group of them are all super adorable and I love me a bit of Stiles getting to experience Hale pack life.
Hunting Pains by Ragga (230k)
It was a sad day when one had to resort to time travel because things were just so fucked up. Stiles should know. He went back to undo the whole ‘Beacon Hills is a death trap’ thing but for now he would just settle for knowing where the fuck he was. Even the year would be a nice start. Someone? Anyone? Or, the one where Stiles travels back in time, karma comes to bite him in the ass, and he ends up as Kate Argent's hunter mentor. He didn't take Peter Hale into account either, and he definitely didn't sign up for everything that came after. His life.
This should probably be labelled crack fic. It is completely unhinged in the best of ways. It feels very R-Rated scooby doo if the scooby doo crew did murder and Finstock is an absolute treasure in this fic.
Schrodinger's Wolves by wynnebat (20k)
When the Hale pack of Talia's day learns of their upcoming deaths, they summon an emissary from the future to weigh their loss against his future. They get Stiles, who has never been able to be impartial when it comes to people he loves.
In so many ways this fic is really cruel. Stiles is forced to make the worst decision, but we gotta lean into that angst and enjoy the ride.
Shameful Company by kaixo (ballpoint),
"Did I turn into a unicorn?" Peter asks dryly, and Stiles glares at him for a moment before the laughter bubbles up, unbidden, nearly unwilling, and he looks so surprised at the sound, his shock dimming it for a moment before it bursts through with even more trembling ferocity. A long, thin, willowy hand curls into a soft fist over his mouth, and he's shaking, frail, more tears falling, but the copper of his eyes are glowing, crinkling around the edges and scrunched with mirth. "No," Stiles chokes, chuckling wetly. "No, fuck you, a unicorn? What, like, Rainbowcreep? Zombiesparkle?"
In which Stiles is basically a stray cat, its Peter's fault he's back in the past in the first place and Lydia finally gets her revenge. Bloody brilliant but chris, Stiles is so broken.
If you want actual cat!Stiles Safe Place to Hide Away by TwistedAmusement13 is tooth rotting and so much fun.
Non-human Stiles
Blue Swede by twothumbsandnostakeincanon (somanyofthekids) (61k whole series)
Peter was suspicious. Just generally, as a person. He always assumed his fellow man had impure motives until they proved otherwise, and then he still kept an eye out. But at this particular moment, he was specifically suspicious of Derek’s new girlfriend. He's not the only one.
This whole fic is beautifully adorable and hilarious. Stiles is an empath and he's totally on to Kate. The rest of the series is sweet and angsty and funny and generally brilliant.
Child King by ShanaStoryteller (66k)
Stiles is born with red eyes.
This was so fun, I am such a sucker for Werewolf Stiles and this fic was deeply satisfying.
Going Home by cywscross (16k)
The sea has always called to Stiles. Now he’s free to answer it. Peter just wants to put Beacon Hills as far behind him as physically possible. Stiles doesn’t say no, so he follows.
The worldbuilding for mermaids in this is brilliant, and Peter's quiet desperation always just moves me.
For Great Justice! by Green (24k)
Stiles is a vengeance demon, drawn to Peter just as he's waking from his catatonia. "Whoever did this? We will make those fuckers suffer. I promise you."
I mean, it just works so perfectly, Stiles should be a vengeance demon.
Red by Udunie (14k)
It only took a few more feet of trodding through the underbrush to finally find his dog, and the closer he got, the calmer Peter felt. Otis was still barking, but now he was close enough to recognize that it didn’t sound like alarm. It sounded like something between 'play!' and 'squirrel!' Peter realized he was probably spending too much time with only a dog for company. “Otis! What is it?” The dog was wagging his tail, guarding the roots of a tree, and as he got closer, Peter saw that it wasn’t actually the tree that got him hyped up, it was the shaggy ball of red fur nestled at the base. “The hell…” It was a small fox. At least it looked small, but Peter had no idea how big full grown foxes were. It looked small next to Otis.
In this one Peter is the human and it is mostly animal shenanigans but just so sweet. Fox Stiles is peak Stiles. Such a little shit.
AU
Windows by dr_girlfriend (83k)
Derek has a new neighbor who won't stop looking. “You’re blind,” Derek said flatly, the anger draining from him so suddenly he felt almost woozy. His vision cleared, his claws sliding back into blunt fingernails. “Thanks for the memo, genius,” the kid said acidly. “I can still fucking defend myself, so don’t take another damn step.”
Derek thinks his neighbour is being rude and creepy, Stiles is just ready to throw down with the person who just stormed into his apartment for no apparent reason. Blind Stiles is wonderfully sassy and Derek is, as always, the worst at communicating.
I don't know why, but I guess it has something to do with you by LunaCanisLupus_22 (17k)
“You smell like me,” the guy says, scowling as he crowds in and Stiles staggers back between the coats and finally hits the wall. “Why do you smell like me?” He barely lets out a garbled sound as the blood rushes to his cheeks. “No reason,” Stiles yelps, struggling to get his footing and grasping at a whirlwind of puffy fur. Or the one where Stiles goes thrift shopping and an alpha's shirt. And gets a lot more than he bargains for.
Stiles is a beautifully strange mess in this and the romance is wonderfully awkward in a way that only Derek can achieve, the wonderful little weirdo.
Stiles Stilinski, Boyfriend Extraordinaire by MereLoup (14k)
“Beacon County Sheriff's Department, this is deputy Mahealani speaking.” “Oh thank god!” “Stiles?” “I, uh, I need some advice.” “Advice?” “Yeah. So, hypothetically, say you met your boyfriend’s mother and sister for the first time ever. Completely by accident. In the grocery store. And they convinced you to help them make a dinner to surprise aforementioned boyfriend when he got home after work. What would you do?” Danny paused, and then, “Stiles, you don’t have a boyfriend.” “That’s not the point! And I said hypothetically.” “Stiles...what are you doing right now?”
Derek is an awkward ball of social anxiety and white lies that got out of hand, Stiles is way too willing to go along with things and combined they end up somewhere truly strange.
There is a Brotherhood by minusoneday (21k)
So far, college has taught Stiles three things: 1) Eight am classes are cruel and unusual and should be avoided at all costs, even if it means having to enroll in something truly hideous instead, like Econ 101. 2) Dorm security is just as tight as Stiles’ orientation leader had promised it would be, and the dude guarding Scott’s dorm in particular does not respond well to bribes. 3) Mrs. McCall clearly had no clue what she was talking about when she’d insisted that Scott and Stiles needed to branch out and room with strangers, so it’s all her fault that Scott ended up with a total dick of a roommate and Stiles got stuck all the way across campus with some guy who has a girlfriend two towns over and is thus never around. Or, the one where pledge brothers Stiles and Scott start a prank war with Derek Hale's fraternity.
Because every fandom needs a fraternity fic, chaos, pranks and shenanigans abound. Lots of fun!
Whatever Works by KouriArashi (61k)
The problem with having your soulmate's first words to you tattooed on your arm is knowing your whole life that you're fated to be with a jerk. It's enough to make Stiles want to date other people ... which is how he winds up dating his soulmate's nephew.
Because Stiles and Peter are perfect for each other but if Stiles wants romance he's gonna have to stick with Derek. Love a good dose of why choose alongside intrigue and corporate lawyer Peter being the best arsehole he can be.
Angst - I still only do happy endings
Under the Songbird’s Wing by mia6363 (87k)
Captivity easily destroys the will of escape. It can break the fiercest of animal. It can strip the most regal man and woman down to nothing but animal needs. Captivity can, if met with unwavering determination, shape a person into something unimaginable. Stiles is sixteen when he's captured. Stiles's first thought is, "I won't die here."
This one is brutal but bloody hell the character building is beautiful and the attention to the gritty psychological impact of just continuing to survive. Beautifully written.
Call My Name by KouriArashi (81k)
After moving to Beacon Hills, Stiles starts having recurring dreams of a man in some kind of prison, who needs his help. Things get so bad that he ends up in Eichen House, where he finds out that the man is real.
I love this one. It explores the idea of Stiles being in and out of mental institutions so when he starts to see Peter in Eichen not even he believes him. So much angst but a wonderful payoff.
In Between by Planthoughts (46k)
There’s not much reason to talk. Sometimes, if he’s quiet enough he thinks his dad forgets him. If he’s quiet enough, and he hopes, Dad will walk right by. Those are good days. - Peter finds Stiles in the woods.
This one is dark but great. I'm a sucker for a soulmate fic and this is the most hurt/comfort of hurt/comforts.
Kid Fics
Baby Whisperer by twothumbsandnostakeincanon (somanyofthekids) (26k)
“What. Is that.” Scott looked up at him, apprehensive. “Her name’s Lily.” Stiles stared at the fuzzy head peeking out of the papoose. “Her. Her name. That is a real live human baby. Oh my God-” “Actually I don’t know if she’s human?” Scott said with a confused frown. “Becca didn’t say.” “Who the fuck is Becca?!”
Because Stiles+Peter+Children is my catnip. Add in a bit of Scott bashing I am off running.
Hook, Yarn, Sinker by pprfaith (65k)
Stiles is happy with his store, his hobbies, his friends. Peter's just trying to figure out how to raise his nieces and nephew without fucking them up too badly.
Paths cross.
Peter's a mess, Stiles is a mess too but he hides it better. Family feels, adorable baby Hales and so much yarn that rereading this fic always makes me get out my knitting needles.
Worldbuilding Favourites
The Searching Ceremonies by KouriArashi (156k)
Derek is being pressured by his family to pick a mate, and somehow stumbles into a choice that they didn't expect and aren't sure they approve of....
I reckon I think about this fic at least once a month, this is a case fic with a generous serving of drama and romance. The world-building is incredible, the characters are built beautifully and the mentor/mentee relationship between Peter and Stiles gives me so much joy. One of my favourite fics of all time. The whole series is brilliant but the first one is the best one.
Waiting by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella) (80k)
Not wanting to think on it too much, Stiles took a step forward and passed his hand between the bars, moving the bleeding side closer to Derek’s mouth. “Not too close, he bites.” Stiles snatched his hand away just as Derek had been about to lick at it. The snarl he got in response was not comforting. “He what?” Stiles asked nervously, turning to Deaton. The man looked a little amused. “Don’t worry, only if he doesn’t like you.” “Well, he probably hates me, now!” Stiles insisted, turning back to Derek. He looked extremely displeased.
Derek is a strange feral creature connected to the health of Beacon Hills, every year a new 'sacrifice' is chosen to look after him to stop the town from falling apart. Stiles is just so wonderfully caring in this and yet he still feels like a teenage boy, no supernatural compassion here. The world-building here is brilliant.
Bigfoot Told Me You Were Coming by twothumbsandnostakeincanon (25k)
Peter and Chris are on the run when they stumble across Stiles' home in the woods.
I don't know why but this fic totally gives me Studio Ghibli vibes, Stiles' witch cottage sounds like something out of Howl's Moving Castle.
Love What is Behind You by KouriArashi (54k)
Basically what it says on the label. Hunger Games type fusion. Stiles doing way better than anyone anticipates. Peter finds him intriguing. Ruthless, devious assholes working together to ruin bad guys, as the Steter ship is meant to be.
The worldbuilding on this Hunger Games style universe is bloody brilliant and I love the characterisation of Stiles in here. Willing to do what he needs to do to survive but unshakingly committed to his beliefs.
Don't Savage The Messenger by exclamation (172k)
There is an uneasy truce between the werewolves in the woods and the humans who live in Beacon Hills, protected by a magical boundary that gives warning any time a werewolf crosses it. Then the sheriff is taken by the werewolves and his son offers himself in exchange. Stiles promises to serve the werewolf pack, not knowing what horrible use they might have for him. But it turns out his most useful skill is the ability to cross the boundary line between humans and werewolves. Life with the werewolves is nothing like he feared and the werewolves themselves are nothing like the hunters' stories would have him believe.
Pretty brutal imagining of what would happen after a werewolf reveal and Stiles gets caught in the middle. Some pretty shocking stuff happens early on but this turns into a really interesting and brilliantly written fic.
SMUTTY
Cherry Picked by Bunnywest (37k)
The annual pack convention is a hell of an opportunity—it’s the chance to have wild, no-strings-attached sex with a willing werewolf partner under the guise of providing 'hospitality' for the entire week of the Inter-pack Convention, and this year it’s Beacon Hills’ turn to host. And Stiles is finally twenty one, old enough to offer himself. He’s planned for this, deliberately stayed single all this time so he qualifies (because Weres are weirdly possessive and insist on virgin ass—apparently, just like with olive oil, it’s superior. Whatever.) Stiles isn't sure what it says about him that he goes weak at the knees at the thought of a werewolf holding him down and having his way with him, or why he gets stupidly turned on at a throaty growl or a peek of fang, and to be honest he doesn't really care. All he knows is that it pushes all his buttons, and he’ll never have a chance like this again. Now he just has to get himself selected.
This one is a little out of nowhere because who knew Deuc/Stiles would be a fun pairing but this fic has lots of smut, many feels and some fun world-building.
You Had Me at Canapes by LadyArinn (47k)
Stiles doesn't mean to sneak into the Hale wedding, and he certainly doesn't mean to have cliche coat-room sex with the bride's uncle, but what had happened, happened, and it wasn't like he could just leave. At least, not until he got to have some of that cake.
Peter and Stiles are such unrelenting arseholes to each other in this fic. It's delightful.
Warning: Contents Are Under Pressure by Shey (68k)
God, Stiles needed more Adderall. And a nap. And a good fuck. Possibly not in that order. Recent NYU grad, and new law clerk, Stiles Stilinski is sixty-five hours into a very long work week, the latest in a string of very long work weeks. He’s suffering from a terrible case of no-time-to-jerk-off, and a shared apartment with painfully thin walls. To top it off, his entitled bastard of a boss seems to have missed the memo on personal space. If he doesn’t get some quality time with his right hand, and soon, he’s going to end up fired, or evicted. Unfortunately, his roommate is forever getting in the way of his plans, and it turns out his boss is just plain trouble with a capital T.
I am weak for this grouping and this one is a lot of fun. Plenty of angst, fluffy feels.
Five Days of Dickings by drunktuesdays, mklutz (17k)
Five Dickings in Five Days was the (hopefully interim) title he’d seen on the contract. More like five days of dickings. Whatever, Stiles was into it. The money is great; the fucking is also great. It’s a win-win way to pay for college.
This is smut. Pure, end to end kinky smut. But heck the Stiles/Cameraman Derek pairing is ridiculously cute.

TEEN WOLF BRAINROT
so, i've been rewatching teen wolf bc apparently netflix hates us europeans and it will be removed on may 31st and here are a few of my opinions TM
scott is actually a very good main character. listen, i got into this fandom when i was older, so i probably don't understand why there is this trend of hating scott, but he's a valid MC! he shows an example of positive masculinity that is honestly so refreshing to see in modern media: he's kind, compassionate, always optimistic but not stupidly so, has an amazing relationship with his mum AND his friends, he's not afraid to show emotions and cry. honestly a very healthy, albeit traumatised, young man. yes, he did stupid stuff for the girl he liked, and yes he misjudged a few situations, but please, remind me, how old is he supposed to be? 16? 17? 18? yeah. i did worse things at his age.
scott and stiles come from working class families!!! they have money problems!! it's honestly so refreshing to see teenagers discuss money in a supernatural/fantasy tv show. it doesn't usually happens and I've found it refreshing because it's something that usually happen between irl teenagers.
i don't get sterek. really, really don't. maybe it's bc i've watched the show through a gen z lens (meaning the media and the culture (read: THE INTERNET) when i watched the show were influenced more by gen z than millennials' values) but i really don't get it. and the age difference makes me uncomfortable. (same thing with parrish and lydia, SHE'S A MINOR DUDE, there's a reason people don't like cops istg) SOMEONE EXPLAIN STEREK TO ME PLEASE
in fics stiles and scott's personalities are often swapped: stiles is the caring one, the pack mum, scott is the one with homicidal tendencies. like, my dudes, the fact that scott is a GOOD person through and through is the reason he's a true alpha. also the reason we, as viewers, like stiles is bc he's sarcastic and more morally ambiguous than scott (not really, but you get it, he cares more about himself and his immediate friends, the others can die, scott instead want to save everyone period), it's like taking away the thing that makes stiles stiles
malia and stiles were SO cute, i didn't expect to like them so much, but when they broke up my heart shattered
stydia is everything i want in a ship and i will not accept any criticism on it, it's literally one of the only straight ships i like. you have the slowburn, the malewife x girlboss trope, the he fell first but she fell harder, the mutual pining. it literally checks all of my boxes
isaac was such a cool character and he and scott had an amazing dynamic, like come on, they had something going on between them
kira is a badass. that's it, that's the comment. i like her so much
derek's development is one of the best. i couldn't stand him in season 1, but in s4 he became one of my favourite characters. but i think this has more to do with the fact that they aged him up? he was supposed to be in his early 20s in s1, but then they aged him up in s3? well, anyway, i liked how he literally wised up, stepping into the role of a teacher and guide instead of a leader, it suits him so much better (and i'm sure it's less stressful)
peter is such a charmingly evil bastard. i hate him, but i love him at the same time.
thiam is the best ship in the show, i don't care if it's canon or not. i've read airplanes, it's canon to me
we would've liked (simped for) s5 theo more if he had the same haircut he had in 6b. he was just stupidly hot.
allison and lydia should've kissed and so malia and kira. give me my wlw couples.
