So like anyway regular mermaid stiles or vauge sea creature stiles. This can be set it default canon or if your feeling spicy mafia au 🤷🏻‍♀️. Where Stiles doesn’t tell anyone and he doesn’t shift for years until Derek finds outs and they bond over that but twist ��� when stiles takes Derek to the beach he used to go with his mom, it’s far to crowed. Even the outcroppping has become a place for teenagers to sneak aways. It’s far too dangerous for stiles to shift there. And he’s devastated. He lost that connection to his mother, to hiself.

But he needs to shift, it feels far to painful not to. But he can’t because his safe place is invaded. And the others place to swim are either chemical filled pool(no thanks) or somewhere that’s too long a drive.

And Derek 1. knows what it’s like to lose that space and 2. No chances he’s letting stiles shift in a well populated area. For his safety.

So he either just buys a fucking private beach. Like straight up, names it after stiles or Mrs Claudia Stilinski or some vauge reference to sea creatures or legends.

Or two he just builds stiles a man made lake on hale land. He set a piece of land to the die and just goes ham. Building underwater caves, with statues and mosaic’s and fancy rocks and jewels. Good rocky terrain, but also lots of space and depth. Gets stiles favourite fish and seaweed or kelp imported so stiles can have it fresh. Bonus, this way it’s close to home and Derek can keep an eye on his mate and it’s private property.

When a character calls themselves a monster there are many different whole responses that can be used to still reassure them.

The classic “you could never be a monster” where you’re not necessarily ignoring all the bad parts of a person but instead not allowing them to other themselves. It isn’t about the monster part but rather how being a monster is a synonym for evil, for being immoral. That their identity being rooted in being a monster damns them into villainous nature; so the responses denys that connection. “You are not a monster, you are not evil, you are not a villain.”

That being a monster doesn’t make you a bad thing. Being a monster means you can protect and defend. It means that your claws and teeth can be used as a sword.

And last but not least one of my favourites “yes, but I will love you anyway”.

You can be a monster, hideous and destructive and I will still look at you lovingly. Your hand may be stained with blood but I will kiss it nonetheless. There is no piece of me that wishes to be rip from you even in your worse. It is about devotion and loyalty. I will stay no matter what you become. A loyal knight, a loyal dog.

You can never be a monster to me because I love you.

And a variety of other things that add up to Not Human. They refuse to believe that Stiles is and has always been human, and it's a running gag/subplot where they're just lurking around, trying to prove Stiles is a Fae with increasingly ridiculous and complicated schemes, like the most intense game of Mouse Trap ever, and Stiles continuously just manages to avoid them, which they take as proof he's gotta be a faerie because no way can an actual person Be That Way, and finally they get fed up and dig up Stiles's first name and calls him by it in front of everyone, so Stiles kneecaps them with his bat.

Hunter, on the ground: I don't understand, I thought knowing your true name would give me power.

Stiles: It does, it gives me the power to beat your ass.

Anyway I wrote it:

Why the wands in Harry Potter are government propaganda and a great way to control the population, especially the muggle borns and half bloods

I haven’t read the books in years but here we go, all this is based off my hate for the government in the series and the way my 12 year old self hated the fact that wizards needed wands to use magic. 

Okay so we know that within the universe that there are some wizards who can use their magic without wands but they are always described as being the more powerful wizards with the verse. 

At the same time children can perform accidental magic. Usually this is in the case of danger but also during moments of high emotions. (As seen with harry teleporting to the roof, which is supposed to be a dangerous high level skill, and Neville being completely fine after being dropped out of widow. Once again in harry’s third year when he inflates marge? There doesn’t seem to be any super negative effects on the children after the fact, harry barely seems winded after blowing up his aunt. So we know it can be done. 

When the first years go to buy their first wands, they are told the “the wand chooses the wizard” which would reenforce a ‘bond’. Wands are made up of different materials, the wood and core of the wands interchanges depending on how the wand maker created them. We know that harry had a difficult time when picking his first wand, only settling when give a wand with the core of a phoenix feather. Which shows the connection between him and Voldemort and sets up for the prophecy or just could be the core of the feather recognizing and reacting to the piece of Voldemorts soul inside harry. Either way, with shows the readers that there is some importance to the bond between wizard and wand. This also implies that wands are quasi-sentient. 

However this is also imminently thrown out the widow as well. Ron and Neville are using hand me down wands. Ron’s works fairly well for him, but for Neville, even though he is using his father’s wand it doesn’t work well for him. There are other instances of this happening, Harry borrowed Hermione's wand for a while when his original one broke. Voldemort also took Lucius Malfoy's wand form him and was able to use it. The difference being that Voldemort broke Malfoy’s wand. 

Wands can also change their alliance with a wizard if their owner is beaten in a duel. Each wand can choose whether to change allegiance based on the circumstances, like the elder wand who choses alliance based on the winner of the duel. But a wand doesn’t have to change their alliance for a wizard to use them forcefully. When Voldemort uses Lucius Malfoy's wand he overcomes the alliance with force of will and the usage of that power can destroy the wand. 

In total we know that wands have magical components that make up their structure and can also “Choose” the wizard. In this case my best guess is that each wizard as a different affinity for the magical components (wood and core). The combinations of core and wood lead to different wizard having different affinities to different wands and being able to find one that fits them. The better your affinity for the wand, the easier it is to use it. Or the easier it is to channel your magic through the wand to perform magic. In my own opinion wands are just tools to help the wizard channel their magic through to help with spells. In the same way that people wear different styles clothes. (Another similar item would be a broom, which seems to be used with subconsciously wand-less magic. Calling up, to get the broom to jump in their hand and when using it in games to listen to the users commands of turning and diving)

This would make sense for a child to use when they are first coming into their magic. It is a tool that would help the flow and direction of their magic, rather than unbound chaos of pure magical energy. As a channeling tool, it would teach kids how to recognize the flow of their own magic and how much magical power to put behind a spell so that they aren’t constantly draining their cores which is dangerous and could have fatal drawbacks. But over time, what once becomes a tool becomes a hindrance. You would become to used to the crutch of the wand and would never develop the ability to use magic without it. And if you never develop the ability to do wandless magic the government always has a way to control your use of magic

The government has many uses for wands within the Harry Potter universe already:

As a way to track magic users, specifically underaged magic users. The trace, which you get off your wand the day you turn seventeen. Or assumed get taken off. 

It is also used in crime investigations. The armours are able to check the wands of a person to figure out want was the last spell they used. 

They also use it as a way to take away magic. One of the punishments for a crime committed with the universe is the have your magic wand broken and your memory wiped as a way of stopping the supposed criminal from using magic. Nothing else, no mention of binding the persons magic, just breaking their wand. 

To me all these measures are flawed, and can be used to a persons detriment rather than help.  

In the second book when Dobby is trying to stop harry from going back to school he uses house elf magic (without a wand, Lol) and yet “the trace” records it as harry using his magic. But dobby would use magic the Malfoy estate and yet the “trace” never seems to record as Draco using magic. So This would more heavily affect the muggle-born population and any half-bloods that stay within the muggle world. It also implies that Pure blood kids are able to use magic all year round. 

There are two instances I can recall from the books when this method is used. When Sirius is recalling the fight between himself and Petter Petttigrew and the Aurors checking his wand. Leading to the conclusion of his guilt and subsequently his incarceration. The second being after the Quidditch World Cup when Barty Crouch jr used Harrys wand to cast the dark mark over the stadium. In both instances, innocent people are wronged, and yet this seems be all the evidence an auror needs to convict someone.

Easing the memory of magic itself that doesn’t stop the person from having access to their magic. But as stated above, magic is possible without wands, and contrary to the whole ‘only the strongest of magic uses can do it’ children have also been able to use magic without wands. But as a tool of control for the government, this would be a relatively easy way of getting rid of “whistleblowers”. In the movie we can see this sentence being carried out on a muggle-born woman, who proclaims her innocence. I’d imagine that this is sentence carried out on a majority of Muggleborns and half bloods. 

But wizarding society acts like breaking a persons wands stops them from having magic. But as seen with Ron breaking his wand in the second book this doesn’t suddenly make him a muggle or stop him from using magic ever again. He just has to buy a new one. This once gain shows that the having isn’t dependant on the wand. But using it might be. 

An adult who isn’t able to use magic without a wand and a child who can use it subconsciously. And what happens during the years in between. They go to a magic school and become wholly dependent on the wands. They are religiously trained with only their wands and have it hammered in their hands that they won’t be able to achieve magic without their wands. It becomes a clutch. 

They can control how quickly muggle-born and half-blood children develop their magic. Pure-blood children would then have access to family magic that their peers wouldn’t. They can make sure that they pure-bloods always remain on top of the system that they set up. Even with the growing number of muggle borns and half blood, even if they start to out number them. If they become to rebellious all you have to do is take away their government sanctioned wand and erase their memories. They are able to control the masses with the threat of losing their magic, One step out of line and you lose your magic. In a trial system when Pure-bloods have a higher amount of votes, the system is already set up against you.

Don’t think about the fact that’s it’s implied stiles has his mother’s eyes. That every time he looks himself in the mirror he sees her eyes looking back at him. That when he looks at himself with deep hatred he sees his mother calling him a monster. He sees her eyes as she tries to kill him. Somedays that’s all he can see. So he avoids looking at himself in the mirror.

Don’t think about seeing void with his mother eyes, eyes that once again hold violence.

Don’t think about stiles holding head in hands. Thinking that the only thing his body has left of his mother is his eyes. That maybe if he gets rid of them, then his father would be able to look at him again.

Slowly digging his nails through the skin above his eyes. Thinking about gouging his eyes out and giving them to his dad. But not being able to do it but using the action to ground himself. Repeating it again and again and again over the years. Leaving scars just above his eyes to give him something else to look at. Something else to see that isn’t his mother’s hatred looking back at him.

Don’t think about his father falling into alcoholism. Tiny 8 year old stiles thinking that his father is grieving, and so he drinks that night. And the night after that and the next. And the drinking isn’t stopping but instead becoming more frequent. Don’t think about stiles holding onto hope that his father might tuck him into bed instead of reaching for the bottle. Stiles picking up whiskeys from the floor with the same colour of his eyes. Don’t think about the moment stiles realizes that his father is trying to drown himself in hopes of reaching Claudia at the bottom. The moment when he has to come to terms with the fact that he might lose both of his parents.

I know why but why couldn’t Alfred kill the joker. Bruce has the no killing rule and as stated Alfred “subscribes to no such niceties”.

Jason was basically his grandson. You’re telling me Alfred couldn’t have rocked up with a shotgun and spy training and just — shot him. Maybe in an alternate universe he did.

Peter: idk Derek can do better than a human, even with all the magical powers the boy is still human. He will never understand how pack works, we can’t trust him.

Bad-mom Talia, Scott, bad old granny hale, Deucalion: says something bad about stiles and Derek’s relationship, vaguely implying it’s because they are gay or stiles is human. (Or is Scott’s case worrying that Derek is using stiles)

I was tagged by the very lovely @demonicfaerie so here is an angry stiles blurb that I dont exactly know what to do with but that I really wanted to get the idea down.

This is based on my headcannon that stiles and Jackson actually have know each other the longest. And that Jackson is the only other person who knows stiles real name.

The pack makes jokes about Stiles, saying that he never really gets angry, sure he gets defensive but never angry. Until the day Jackson calls Stiles by his name.

After the whole kanima disaster, Derek moves forward trying to connect to his betas. Including Jackson. Especially since now that he is a werewolf which shifts the dynamics because technically he’s now Derek’s first beta.

One afternoon during pack training when tensions were raising higher than usual. The pack had devolved into using grunt and growls as form of communication. Snarling with a little to much teeth.

So Stiles, in Stiles fashion begins making sarcastic remarks to try and settle the situation. After Jackson take a hard tumble with fighting Derek, Stiles quips about Jackson still being a fake werewolf. Especially after spending so much time in lizard scales.

Jackson spits blood from his mouth, turns to him, anger rolling in his chest. A self satisfied smirk forming as the words drip from this lips. — you would know all about fake identities, wouldn’t you Mieczyslaw.” — Stiles goes deathly still and the air shifts. Like the moment before lighting strikes.

The pack is immediately on edge. Derek makes his way towards stiles. The hair on the back on his neck standing up, putting his arms out as if he’s trying to calm down a wild animal. The way Stiles chest heaves with exertion like a cornered, feral animal. Derek knows what it’s like to watch a predator prepare to strike.

Derek swears he doesn’t see Stiles move. One second Stiles was standing on his porch steps, body tense like a spring coil about to snap. In the next second Jackson is on the ground with Stiles on top of him and the smell of blood in the air.

Lydia is shrieking for Stiles to get off Jackson. The betas step backwards from the carnage. They want to help but all their instincts are begging them to flee.

And Stiles is screaming, between the sounds of fist hitting flesh, — you don’t get to call me that — Stiles is screaming — I’ll rip your tongue from your fucking mouth. — stiles keeps hitting Jackson — That name belonged to my mother — just repeating over and over again. Stiles is screaming.

It takes Derek and Boyd to pull him off Jackson, even so he fights against their hold. It was surprising to the werewolves, the fact that they were struggling. Stiles was going rabid between them, still screaming — let me go, I’m going to rip his throat out with my teeth — and Jackson was still on the ground, not healing, covered in blood.

Derek barks out and order to get Jackson to Deaton or Melissa or both as fast as possible. Boyd slowly releases Stiles just in case he’s needed to grab him again. The minute the hold on him slacks fighting is throwing himself towards Jackson again. Derek barely catches him.

While the betas clear out, Derek throws stiles over his shoulder. Stiles still fighting against his hold. It’s only as Derek steps into his bedroom and sets Stiles on his bed, does he calm down. It’s like all the fight drains from his body.

Instead panic takes its place. Stiles fights to breathe with the same vengeance as he did Jackson. Clumps of broken sentences echo out between his sobs — not his, not his, nothis, nothisnothisnothisno — the more panicked he gets, the faster it comes out.

Derek holds him until the panic subsides and a there nothing left but silence.

The pack doesn’t mention Stiles’ breakdown the next day, or the next. And Stiles likes pretends like nothing happened. Everyone else would to, except for the fact that Jackson is barely healing, healing slower than a healthy human would. Stiles smile is a tad bit to tight and the pack is a tad bit too cautious of him.

They also don’t mention the fact that the bruises only go away after Jackson apologizes. Even so they don’t really make jokes anymore.

Re-watching season two episode one of Merlin is so Ahhhh

Imagine if this was the episode that Arthur just started listening to Merlin about bad people. After seeing his people die because he trusted the wrong person, Arthur feels guilty. He realizes that Merlin knew that Cedric was sleazy (although Cedric wasn’t trying it kill everyone, it’s just the process of things). So now everytime Merlin vaguely gives a nose scrunch Arthur is like “well you have to go, banished”

Or like Merlin just is so petty and hold it against Arthur. He doesn’t immediately go back to work for Arthur right but instead he stays with Gaius and lcommits to the physician assistant position. Until Arthur is like “Merlin please everyone is being nice to me and you keep calling me sire, and everyone is spending time with you but me and sir Owen keeps wistfully talking about you ..” and so on.

But after Merlin comes back to being Arthur’s servant he makes petty remarks under his breath like a scorned wife. “Oh yeah George is a great servant, maybe he should be your manservant” and “you’re completely right Arthur, Henry did a fabulous job with your armour, maybe you should throw me away again and hire him.”

Arthur’s just like “Merlin please, it was one time” and tries to be better.

OR Could you imagine If one high ranking person believed in Merlin?? Like Leon starts to realize that Merlin has frighteningly correct assumptions of peoples and situations. So he just starts to pay more attention to when Merlin says “hey I think this person sucks”.

At first he thinks that Merlin is complaining about Cedric becuase he’s getting kicked out of the manservant position, and he empathizes but there is nothing Leon can do. Accept be coldly cordial around Cedric. But then Merlin is like “he’s been possessed” and Leon thinks it would be remiss to ignore that becuase it puts Arthur’s life at stake. So he follows Cedric around and sees him in the courtyard heeling out a spell and wacks him in the head whiles he is distracted.

So like dumb headcannon I have is that stiles dad used army chants to help stiles complete a task when he was a kid (adhd goes insane). The sheriff was in was in the army before he became a cop, so like his sergeants used to do when he was in training, he belts out a chant and stiles responds. (I know nothing of the American military system. As I am not an American or military)

So stiles just starts using the same chants when training for lacrosse, and then when training with the hale pack. Scott is actually so fucking pumped to be able to chant back now that he doesn’t have asthma.

It starts at the very end of a training day when Derek is going all “I’m am the alpha” on them and the pack is exhausted. So under his breathe stiles just starts chanting. And Scott responds, and back and forth they go, to the confusion of everyone listening. And somehow the win against Derek. (He was confused and let his guard down, surprise attack)

So then the pack just starts using chants. They use it in lacrosse training which gets picked up by the team. They use it at games to intimidate other teams. Anytime a team member sees other out in public they just belt out chants to each other and then completely ignore that it just happened. Sometimes other people around them will join the in. That made for a surprising 8am grocery visit for the sheriff. One moment he was grabbing kale and the next he was back in training.

And in pack training which is a way to boost morale and let out steam. Eventually they come up with their own and sometimes they have competitions to see who could make up either the best one, or the worst. They also use it to wake up other pack members by screaming it at 3am.

Stiles is having the most productive time ever.

Thinking many thoughts, thinking about the first time stiles got a panic attack after his mom died.

Thinking he might have been alone while his father was on shift or drunk. Gasping for air, clawing at his chest. 8 years old. Wide brown eyes filled with tears. Thinking he’s going to die like this, like his mom.

Blacking out and waking up, thinking he’s lost time. That maybe he’s sick like his mom too.

He ends up having one in front of his dad, neither of them are able to do anything at that current moment. The sheriff isn’t able to calm him down, so he passes out. Sheriff holding his son’s limp body and being petrified, frozen in fear. That night he dumps all his alcohol down the sink.
