Saw a poll where pdf was beating epub 75% to 25% what the hell ever. Pdf sucks clearly you people have never gone on zlibrary book downloading binges where the glory of epubs hold your hand and allow you to change the font size and everything, meanwhile pdf spits in your face if you dare to read it on mobile.

If you were to write a spin-off about a side character, which would you pick?
Unsurprisingly, I'm actually planning lots of prequels, short stories, and weird in-universe documents for Heralds of Rhimn. Two big ones center around specific side characters from the main series.
The first is Children of Snow, a Frostbiters-centered prequel. Gildhe is the main PoV character, but other Frostbiter kids like Karah, Delise Merlie, and Alevar are liable to get a few chapters. Mostly, it's about Lonnie's disappearance, how poorly Gildhe deals with it, and also about how Gildhe ends up pushing Mep out of the family. Funny enough, Mep will not be a PoV character.
(He's had enough time to bias the narrative through the main series!)
The second idea is a presently-untitled novel about how Inky got kicked out of his noble house. Features some of the older characters, like Atevia and Ainzel, plus Iriah and Lucketh back when they were alive. I've had this idea for longer, but it's not quite as fleshed-out as Children of Snow.
Other extremely undeveloped ideas for stories with side characters include;
Courtfather Snow and Charlan's relationship and breakup.
Tincre's life. Oh Tincre . . .
Evain becomes the first guy to become a wyfwolf after the war dies down, and I'm sure that'd be a fun tale to tell.
Maybe how Morekai met Silamir? Eh. Maybe.
Short story about Crislie's Ma and Da meeting each other.
Something to do with the other courts, especially the Mirthful Ones. I love inventing their jestercore puritan names.
In short; brain go brrrrrrr faster than the pen can. Rip.

Sorry but I think you don't know but you should not be sharing the QJJ file. The translators explicitly mentioned not to post it online or make epubs out of it. They actually took the translation down (which was password locked because you had to buy the book for access) since the official version is coming out soon and they're the same ones translating it.
OH???? MEOW????? I DID NOT KNOW THIS 😭😭😭😭 well lucky for my board of ethics I had somehow put it off for so long that I ended up NOT being able to do it. mais oui so it happens

OP deactivated, and some of the links were broken/marked unsafe by Firefox, so here's a new compilation post of Leslie Feinburg's (She/her, ze/hir) novels and essays on being transgender:
Stone Butch Blues official free source directly from Author's website:
Stone Butch Blues, backup on the webarchive:
Transgender Liberation: A movement whose time has come, on the web archive:
Transgender Warriors: Making History from Joan of Arc to Dennis Rodman, on the web archive:
Lavender and Red, PDF essay collection:
Drag King Dreams, on the web archive:
(Also, if anyone ever tells you that the protagonist of Stone Butch Blues ""ends up with a man""........ they're transmisogynistic jackass TERFs who are straight up lying)
Please also check out your local public libraries for these books and see if they carry them, to help support public libraries! If you have a library card already you can checkout Libby and Overdrive to see if your public library carries it as an ebook that you can checkout :)
EDIT: another not included on the orignal masterpost-- Trans Liberation: Beyond Pink or blue !
annnnnd in light of the web archive losing it's court case, here's a backup of both PDFs and generated epubs a friend made:
5/26/2023: hello! I am adding on yet another book of queer history, this time the autobiography of Karl Baer, a Jewish, intersex trans man who was born in 1884! Please signal boost this version, and remember to check the notes whenever this crosses your dash for any new updates :)
6/24/2023:
Two links to share!
Someone made an Epub version of Memoirs of a Man's Maiden Years, which you can find Here , as a more accessible version than a pdf of a scanned book if you're like me and need larger text size for reading--
And from another post I reblogged earlier today, I discovered the existence of "TransSisters: the Journal of Transsexual Feminism", which has 10 issues from 1993-1995, and includes multiple interviews with Leslie Feinburg and other queer feminists / activists of the 90s!
Here's a link to all 10 issues of TransSisters, plus a 1996 "look back at" by one of the writers after the journal ended, you can find all 10 issues on the Internet Archive Here !
------
8/28/2023:
"Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out", can be found on the web archive Here, for the 25th Anniversary Edition from 2015,
and also Here, for the original 1991 version.
Each of the above can be borrowed for one hour at a time as long as a copy is available :D
This is a living post that receives sporadic updates on the original, if you are seeing this on your dash, click Here to see the latest version of the post to make sure you're reblogging the most up to date one :)

October, 25th 2023:
"I began to dawdle over breakfast during shift changes, asking both waitresses questions. After weeks of inquiries, they invited me to a demonstration, outside Kleinhan's Music Hall, protesting the Israeli war against Egypt and Syria. I was particularly interested in that protest. The state of Israel had been declared shortly before my birth. In Hebrew school I was taught "Palestine was a land without peo-ple, for a people without a land." That phrase haunted me as a child. I pictured ears with no one in them, and movies projected on screens in empty theaters. When I checked a map of that region of the Middle East in my school geography textbook, it was labeled Palestine, not Israel. Yet when I asked my grandmother who the Palestinians were, she told me there were no such people. The puzzle had been solved for me in my adolescence. I developed a strong friendship with a Lebanese teenager, who explained to me that the Palestinian people had been driven off their land by Zionist settlers, like the Native peoples in the United States. I studied and thought a great deal about all she told me. From that point on I staunchly opposed Zionist ideology and the occupation of Palestine. So I wanted to go to the protest. However, I feared the demonstration, no matter how justified, would be tainted by anti-Semitism. But I was so angered by the actions of the Israeli government and military, that I went to the event to check it out for myself. That evening, I arrived at Kleinhan's before the protest began. Cops in uniforms and plainclothes surrounded the music hall. I waited impatiently for the protesters to arrive. Suddenly, all the media swarmed down the street. I ran after them. Coming over the hill was a long column of people moving toward Kleinhan's. The woman who led the march and spoke to reporters proudly told them she was Jewish! Others held signs and banners aloft that read: "Arab Land for Arab People!" and "Smash Anti-Semitism!" Now those were two slogans I could get behind! I wanted to know who these people were and where they had been all my life! Hours later I followed the group back to their headquarters. Orange banners tacked up on the walls expressed solidarity with the Attica prisoners and the Vietnamese. One banner particularly haunted me. It read: Stop the War Against Black America, which made me realize that it wasn't just distant wars that needed opposing. Yet although I worked with two members of this organization, I felt nervous that night. These people were communists, Marxists! Yet I found it easy to get into discussions with them. I met waitresses, factory workers, secretaries, and truck drivers. And I decided they were some of the most principled people I had ever met..." Transgender Warriors (1996) Leslie Feinberg

Do you have any recommendations on Dr. Who books/audio format things? I haven't watched the show in a bit because Moffat wasn't my thing and I can't seem to find the old stuff. (If you have any advice on where to find that too I would be very grateful) Following your blog has been a nice reminder of why I liked the show so much. Hope you have a good day!
Aw thank you! Depending on your location, you can find classic who episodes either on BBC iPlayer or Tubi (with ads).
As for books/audios, I'll try to keep this brief as I could write an essay on this.
For books, my favorite author is Kate Orman. Orman writes wonderfully, and my personal favorite is The Year of the Intelligent Tigers. I also really liked Goth Opera, Camera Obscure, History 101, Autumn Mist, Lungbarrow, Divided Loyalties, Somewhere Never etc etc etc etc (so many more but I'm forcing myself to stop here). You can often find free versions of basically every novel (at least all I've looked for) on the internet either as pdfs or epubs or whatever. The Internet Archive is particularly useful. Some examples:
And now for the audios! I personally have sold my soul to Big Finish. I have literally hundreds of recommendations. They do have some audios for free, such as those that came from the Paul Spragg Memorial Competition. You can also find a lot of them (up until Zagreus I think) for free on Spotify. There is also almost always a killer sale going on on the website on top of that too.
As for my recommendations, it's pretty dependent on what Doctor or companion you want to listen to. They even have series centered on UNIT, Romana's Gallifrey, Benny Summerfield, and a ton of other things (including a Masterful special that just had a bunch of Masters fucking around and finding out). I'll put in some of my favorites, one for each Doctor, from what I own (which is far from everything, but I do my best).
One: The Sontarans. It was the first time the Doctor had ever encountered the Sontarans, so he was unfamiliar with them. It takes place during Dalek Master Plan, so Steven and Sara are there.
Two: Lords of the Red Planet! It's a good Ice Warrior origin story and has Jamie and Zoe in it. :)
Three: Terror of the Master. I had pre-ordered it as soon as I heard about it. Three....Delgado Master....what more do you want from an audio? It's narrated by Jon Culshaw.
Four: The Wrath of the Iceni. It was a brilliant historical with Four and Leela and Boudica. Leela gets quite a lesson in this one, first being mad at Four for not helping Boudica and then at Boudica for being cruel.
Okay now we are getting into my favorite Doctors (5-8), so these decisions are going to get difficult.
Five: The Kingmaker! Shakespeare spikes Five's drink to get him absolutely wasted to sneak on the TARDIS, the TARDIS gets hiccups as a result, leading to Peri and Erimem being separated from the Doctor. Shenanigans ensue.
Six: Doctor Who and the Pirates. Six and Evelyn have a really meaningful discussion with one of her depressed students. The third part is a musical!
Seven: The Shadow of the Scourge. Benny Ace and Seven against 8th dimensional eldritch abominations. Seven gets turned into one of these insectoids, and body horror ensues.
Eight: Oh dear I can't choose. At the moment, probably the Great War from Dark Eyes 1. Eight meets Molly and is still grieving here. He is very much doomed by the narrative.
War: The Neverwhen. Lots of the War Doctor is good if you like Time War horror, but this one has a lot of time-as-a-weapon and is well written.
Nine: Battle Scars. A nice short story about that one family Nine saved from the Titanic mentioned in the episode Rose. Has a really fantastic girl in it and a Nine dripping in PTSD.
Ten: The Time Reaver. Ten and Donna! There's this gun that basically slows down time for a single person, so that a few minutes for everyone else is centuries for them. Ten is a self sacrificing dope.
Eleven: The Geronimo boxset is the best in my opinion, but I haven't been able to listen to many of these yet.
Twelve: Another one I haven't managed to buy a lot of yet, but Dead Media is amazing. It's written to sound like a podcast with adverts and everything and is set during his time at St. Luke's. And I cried at the end.
Anyway, I'll shut up now. This was so much fun! Thank you!

So for the last few hours I've been looking into the intellectual history of those "12 Jungian archetype" mandalas like above. You'd assume by name that it was Jung who even thought up this wheel of personality types, but it's not.
A psychoanalyst by the name of Carol Pearson released a book in 1986 called "The Hero Within: Six Archetypes We Live By", a work which combined Jungian archetype theory with Joseph Campbell's monomyth theory, building up six archetypes (the Innocent, the Orphan, the Wanderer, the Warrior, the Martyr, and the Magician). Now, Jung does identify a few archetypes in his works, but from skimming Jung epubs I can't really find why just six archetypes would be justifiable for Pearson through Jung. She states in this book that "Although quite a large number of archetypal plots may be available to us, most do not influence our development as much as these six." Like okay... where do they come from? Since these six correlate much better with the fantastical themes of Campbell -- who admittedly I don't really know too much about -- maybe the answer to what decides six archetypes specifically (rather than say four or five) is within his work.
Anyway, about five of these six archetypes were later integrated into her 1991 book "Awakening the Heroes Within: Twelve Archetypes to Help us Find Ourselves and Transform Our World" (note that we've doubled our archetype count). It's in this book that Pearson gives archetypal pairings: "Security" is made up of Innocent and Orphan, "Identity" has Seeker and Lover, "Responsibility" has Warrior and Caregiver, "Authenticity" has Destroyer and Creator, "Power" has Magician and Ruler, "Freedom" has Sage and Fool, which creates a nice and equal basis for the circular mandala structure of the archetypes we have now. But I don't think there are any mandalas in this book, just tables. Well, so far so good, we are now at twelve archetypes, and they are grouped up in a certain way, but we don't have them positioned just right yet, and are missing the core of our mandala. But Pearson has other work to consider.
In 2001, she collaborated with Margaret Mark for "The Hero and the Outlaw: Building Extraordinary Brands Through the Power of Archetypes" to produce "the first system for the management of meaning", coining the idea of brand stories by way of Pearson's Jungian and Campbellian influences. It's interesting to note that they also explicitly link consumer motivations with Maslow's theories of motivation (which is related to his hierarchy of needs). This is where the Stability/Control and Risk/Mastery axes are transformed into the four core terms of the stereotypical 12-archetype mandala (but you'll see below that I think she had the idea for this probably before this book with Mark).
In 2002 or 2003 she collaborated with a guy named H.K. Marr to create the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator (PMAI). Apparently they had worked on this test together for "several years", so this was almost certainly being produced at the same time or even before Pearson's marketing/branding work, so it's hard to say which came first.
All that said I still haven't found out how exactly this mandala has come to be. The mandala form is obviously Jung-inspired to begin with. The 12 archetypes as presented certainly come from the PMAI test. The four core aspects/archetypes come from Maslow's motivational axes, which as far as I can tell was only integrated in her 2001 book with Mark, so whoever made the mandala must've been aware of that work as well. I don't know. Nothing's been answered and I have more questions than when I started. But it was fun

Genre: Fantasy Romance Approx. Length: 44.000 words Content Warnings: There’s lots of angst, a few graphic injuries, and a bit too much alcohol.
Cocky warrior meets icy scholar
Retrieving some possibly magic rocks should have been an easy mission. Unfortunately, the rocks turn out to be not magic, and the mercenaries assigned to protect Josephine’s group are a nuisance. And while their leader’s refusal to follow her orders starts out as a mere annoyance, it culminates in a tragic accident.
Between grievous injury and disgrace, both of their lives fall apart. Josephine might never hold a sword again, and Valadan is back on the streets with nothing to his name. As he insists on helping her get back on her feet, Josephine realizes that there’s more to him than his rude behavior. Similarly, he finds that she isn’t the spoiled princess he thought her to be.
Together, both of them might heal—if they can overcome the damage they’ve done to each other’s lives.

This story/ebook has previously been published under the title Heal my Wounds. For personal reasons, I finally decided to yeet the old title into the sun and give it a more fitting cover. Better late than never, right?
You can find playlists, moodboards, bios, as well as more detailed content warnings in the old masterlist.

hi hi!! i’m very sorry if any of these are repeats alr on your list, my old rickety ass phone didn’t want to load the doc 😭 i wanted to recommend (& have epubs for all, lmk if you need em!):
- the burning kingdoms trilogy by tasha suri (last book comes out this nov). two women protagonists who are both Kind Of Fucked Up and neither makes great choices most of the time, both driven by revenge. another woman who also is Kind Of Fucked Up also plays a major recurring role and has her own PoV chapters throughout. it’s not on the level of the traitor baru in terms of writing style, mostly just in themes, but if you liked that i think you’ll enjoy these books!
- she who became the sun by shelley parker-chan: SOOOO good, gave me brainworms. it’s sold as “mulan meets song of achilles” but that’s extremely broad and doesn’t get to the true heart of it, which is an exploration of gender and fighting to be recognized as more than/better than “just a girl/woman”. (unfortunately the sequel to this kind of sucks imo!) the first is much more focused on the women/lesbians with a side of tortured self-hating gay men as the parallel antagonists, and it can stand alone pretty well despite it being a duology.
i hope you’re enjoying your journey so far in focusing on women-centric media!! some friends and i have been doing the same for the past few years altho more specifically focused on books with lesbian characters or relationships, and we’ve def read a few clunkers LOL but it’s been fun overall :^)
thank you for the recs!!! ill stick these on the list. i appreciate having more books on my list because that's one area im really trying to flesh out here. im glad you and your friend have been on the yuri warrior grind too feel free to pop back in if you find more good stuff
