Wildcard idea: they have a little buddy following them wherever they go and is also linked to the player's lives, all of them look like little mascots representing each lifer's fanon theme/current skin (ex: grian's being a parrot, bigb's being a small creaking, you get the idea)

All of them are either a: voiced by oli pitching his voice higher and saying generic lines that each lifer is known for (needed to add in oli somehow, can you blame me?) or b: tiny, high-pitched snippets of things the lifers have said within the series

Bonus thing that i just wanted to add for fun: all the dead lifer's "buddies" do exist, they either spawned near the place of death/grave or found wandering around the map and they seem very sad that their "parent" died

This would probably be a nightmare to set-up now that i think about it..

Seeing Etho constantly fighting his urges to protect and take care of his teammates because they don't want it this season.

And he's constantly using his side alliance with Gem and Joel as an outlet and deferring to doing even the silliest things for Bdubs when he does ask for something.

Because the Tuff Guys are supposed to take care of themselves, but it's always come so much more naturally to Etho to take care of other people.

been thinking FAR too much about wildlife after that finale but somehow i have gone back to the beginning with mumbo and skizz’s deaths

and mumbo’s was a big moment with the breaking of the canary curse and i saw a lot of discussion about how “the coal miner loved the canary so much he sacrificed himself to keep the bird alive” cause of all the coal miner mumbo theories and i absolutely LOVE this but i’ve also been thinking about all the other curses, in particular grians and what if grians curse interrupted jimmy’s?

because he created the wildcards and knew when they were happening, grian was so much more involved with the “creation of this world” that because his character was so intensely woven into the fabric of it, his curse (killing his allies) was held together more strongly than any of the others to the point where it overwhelmed jimmy’s curse and accidentally prevented it. it could also be seen as a “punishment” from the watchers for grian meddling so much this series that they set off his curse first because they wanted him to be alone and completely forgot about jimmy. thats also fitting because his superpower was invisibility because he was forgot by the watchers/"""script""".

anyway, to conclude, that's why grian wanted to kill jimmy so badly and why he knew it had to be by his hand, because even though the curse was forgotten some part of grian knew jimmy being alive Wasn't Right and that he would have to be removed by grian personally to fix the "Mistake"

Okay so it doesn't seem like the Spanners are gonna disband, but I am also noticing potent foreshadowing for a Bad Boys-like end, in which Grian is alone and has to hunt for a new alliance. It would be sad but interesting to see how that goes for him

Also, I am slightly disappointed to no longer believe in the possibility of a Jimmy win solely because his team-up this season would make it hilariously ironic. Buddy got down to red at one point, I do NOT have faith in him (affectionate)

Finally, I have a question:

luckily i am here to change that<3 massive shout out to @sculkshrieking for giving me this idea and @shaklyart for the absolutely GORGEOUS animatic that fully sparked this discussion in the first place, seriously please go give it some love guys its incredible. "... Don't kiss me," Grian breathes, so low and heady that it fills Scar's head with light, a clean and dizzy wash over everything still lingering between them. Here, in this microscopic space, there are no grains of sand; no loneliness; no secrets; no cruel and counting timer. Only them, and a warmth beginning to boil, rolling in with the same potent energy of a summer thunderstorm.

And it's so, so easy to let Scar's task do the work for him.

So Scar tips forward, closing the space between them once more— catches Grian's lower lip between his teeth, rolling it into his mouth with slow, deliberate motions. Grian's breath audibly hitches; both hands lift to frame Scar's face, tangle in his hair, and the firm tug of fingers gripping him at the roots has Scar gasping into the kiss. He retaliates by releasing Grian's bottom lip, only to shift the angle to catch his cupid's bow, nipping at the sensitive skin— until Grian sucks in another shaky breath, fingers tightening, mouth falling lax against his. Scar soothes away the sharp sting, folding wordless apologies against Grian's mouth in a language beyond words, beyond any buzzing syllable that will never, ever leave his throat again.

Grian pushes in further, a ragged noise punching from his throat; the answering riptide of fervent affection threatens to drown Scar in liquid gold, and he drags Grian as close as he can get him, lips sliding leisurely over his, arms wrapping tight around his waist. Like this, they could be one person. Like this, there is only the aching stretch of their own bleeding hearts, a horizon of broken stitches— and the desperate, clawing urge to sew them back together again. To make them whole.

When they part, it's by less than an inch; Grian breathes in deep, the same air Scar exhales, and his lips brush Scar's with each tentative sway into each other's orbit, scattering electric sparks in their wake.

Grian's voice is, miraculously, even quieter and headier than before. "Don't—" His voice catches, cracking the word in half. "Don't kiss me." He leans forward, brushing his own featherlight kiss against Scar's lips. Back. "Don't kiss me." Swaying forth again, another kiss; this one just as a soft, just as syrupy. When Grian pulls back once more, his eyes are lidded. Then, pretenses stripped as clean from his voice as sun-bleached bone, he begs— he breathes: "Scar, please— just kiss me."

And Scar— bathed in the gilded sunset of their kiss-bruised memories, with his heart a hummingbird thrum in his throat— throws his task to the wind, and obligingly falls back in.

I want more Captain and Hermit interactions. I wanna see him get dragged into dramatics. Put him with the lifers as well, even. I want to see how he reacts. I'm like a little scientist wanting to see how these little lab rats react to each other when forced to be together

Etho cares deeply about Bdubs, but I don't think he's fully comfortable in their dynamic.

On one hand, I think Etho feels like he's someone Bdubs is always keeping on the backburner, and I think he resents it. Their relationship has never been one sided, per say, Bdubs often contributes to their relationship, that's not the problem. The problem is that Etho often feels like he's the second choice for Bdubs to actually throw his lot in with. It feels like Bdubs always wants a room in the house, never to share a home with Etho. Which can lead to Etho pulling back or lashing out from resentment.

On the other hand, I think Etho blames himself too. He's failed to protect Bdubs before, after all. Why would Bdubs put full faith in him? Why wouldn't Bdubs prioritize better options, options that won't send him off to die alone? Etho has never seen himself as a protector (not one worth any good, anyways), and it only makes sense to him that Bdubs would feel the same.

And on some level, I'm not sure it matters who Etho blames. Sometimes he resents Bdubs, sometimes he loathes himself, but either way, Etho is a protector (no matter what he or bdubs think), and it will always be his deepest instinct to be there, first, second, or last choice. And that's why Etho and Bdubs will never just stay away from each other.
