summary: you call your boyfriend 'bug'.

"Hey, Bug."

The studio was dimly lit, the only glow coming from Jisung’s monitor and the warm LED strip running along the desk. He was hunched over his laptop, fingers tapping rhythmically against the keyboard, eyes flitting between the screen and the small notepad beside him.

You stood in the doorway, watching him with a fond smile. His hair was messy, a telltale sign that he had been tugging at it in frustration. His hoodie had slipped off one shoulder, exposing the smooth curve of his collarbone. He was lost in his world, completely unaware of your presence.

Shaking your head with amusement, you stepped closer, careful not to startle him. “You’ve been here for hours, Ji,” you murmured, voice soft as a whisper in the quiet room.

Jisung jumped slightly, eyes wide as he spun in his chair to face you. “Ah— baby, you scared me,” he said, hand over his chest as he exhaled dramatically.

You chuckled, stepping forward to rest a hand on his shoulder. “Sorry,” you said, “but you should take a break.”

He pouted, lips pressing into a familiar, stubborn line. “I just need to finish this part—”

“Hey, bug,” you interrupted, voice light as a feather, laced with affection.

Jisung froze. His breath hitched.

You blinked, tilting your head. “What’s wrong?”

His ears turned pink. “What—what did you just call me?”

You hesitated, confused by his sudden reaction. “…Bug?”

A flustered laugh bubbled out of him, and he rubbed the back of his neck, looking anywhere but at you. “That— um. That was unexpected,” he mumbled, voice an octave higher than usual.

You grinned. “Why? Do you not like it?”

He cleared his throat, still avoiding your gaze. “No, it’s just—” He exhaled, finally looking up at you. His eyes were warm, a little shy, but filled with something soft, something sweet. “It’s cute,” he admitted. “You’re cute.”

Your heart did a little flip.

You shrugged, trying to play it cool. “Well, you are my little bug,” you teased, booping his nose gently.

Jisung groaned, burying his face in his hands, but you could see the way his smile peeked through. “I’m never gonna recover from this.”

You laughed, wrapping your arms around him in a loose hug. “Take a break, and maybe I’ll call you that again.”

He huffed dramatically, but his hands found their way around your waist, holding you close. “Okay, okay,” he relented, resting his forehead against your shoulder. “But only if you keep calling me that.”

You smiled, running your fingers through his hair. “Deal, bug.”

Jisung melted.

And just like that, his music could wait a little longer.

Jisung didn’t let go.

Even though he had agreed to take a break, even though his laptop was still open behind him, even though he had no reason to cling to you like this—he didn’t let go.

You had called him bug, and now his heart was in absolute chaos.

Your fingers moved lazily through his hair, nails grazing his scalp in the softest way possible, and Jisung was sure he was about to combust. He wasn’t usually this weak to pet names—sure, he liked the occasional Ji or Sungie, and when you were being playful, a teasing Hamster never failed to make him whine.

But bug?

It was gentle. Sweet. It felt like something delicate, something that curled around his heart and squeezed in the softest, warmest way.

His arms tightened around your waist before he could stop himself.

“baby,” he mumbled into your shoulder, voice muffled by your hoodie.

You hummed. “What’s up?”

Jisung hesitated. How was he supposed to put this into words? That his heart was a mess, that you made him a mess, that the way you said his name—hey, bug—made him feel like the luckiest idiot alive?

He pulled back just enough to see your face. Your glasses were slightly askew from the way he had smushed himself against you, and your eyes blinked at him, curious and patient.

His chest ached in the best way.

“I—” He swallowed, licking his lips. “I really like you.”

Your eyebrows furrowed slightly, a soft laugh escaping you. “I’d hope so. We’ve been dating for—”

“No, like—” He exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “I mean, I really, really like you.”

Your lips parted, surprise flashing across your face.

Jisung groaned, dragging his hands down his face. “Ugh, I don’t know how to say it. It’s just—” He gestured vaguely between the two of you, his hands flailing as he tried to make you understand. “I think I just had a moment? Like, a realization moment? Where I looked at you and thought, oh. I’m doomed.”

Your cheeks flushed, and you bit your lip, trying (and failing) to fight off a smile. “You’re doomed?”

Jisung sighed dramatically. “Hopelessly. Eternally. Irrevocably.”

You laughed, and Jisung swore he could feel it, the way it warmed the air around him. “And this realization happened… because I called you bug?”

His ears burned. “Maybe.”

You grinned, pushing his bangs out of his eyes. “So if I say it again, will you have another moment?”

Jisung narrowed his eyes. “Don’t you dare—”

“Hey, bug.”

Jisung collapsed.

Not literally, but his head dropped straight into your shoulder again, and a whine escaped his throat before he could stop it. “Nooo, I can’t handle this,” he mumbled, voice slightly strangled.

You giggled, wrapping your arms around him again. “I didn’t know my little bug was so soft.”

Brothers best friend. (N.R)

NonIdol!niki <~> ft. Jake, Heeseung, Sunghoon

You had known Niki since you remembered, he was your brothers best friend. Him and Jake had met in 1st grade and they had been inseparable since then.

You and Jake were close as sibling, you did things together and you hung out with him and his friends sometimes. Jake and his friends loved having you around, you were this big ball of energy and it was hard not to like you. It was like you were their sister. You were 2 years younger than them, which only made you cuter in their eyes.

Niki had always been there for you, he congratulated you as quickly as he could, came to your basketball games, helped you study and even helped you with boy problems. You guys were really close.

You were only 10 when you realised the love you had for Niki was more than friends you loved him. But you couldn’t tell him that and potentially ruin everything, also you were young and still had your whole childhood left.

When you were 13 you had this really big basketball game and Niki promised to show up, your parents couldn’t be there since they were on a business trip so Jake and all his friends came, except for Niki..

Your team won the came and you did really well, but the whole car ride home you cried, Jake sat next to you rubbing circles on your back as Sunghoon drove with Heeseung in the passenger seat. They didn’t understand why you were bawling your eyes out after such a big game, but Jake had a clue it had something to do with his best friend not showing up.

You were now laying in your storm of fluffy blankets and pillows, the thing you called your bed, hiding away from all sadness and anger. He promised and he broke it.

There was a knock at the door and you heard Jake go and answer it. “What are you doing here man?” Jakes voice was firm and questioning, “shit- look man I’m sorry” Niki. Niki was at the door, you turned away not wanting to hear the conversation but something kept you listening. “You shouldn’t be sorry to me but to her” you heard the door close and double foot steps inside, why did he let him in? “Is she okay? Can I see her?” You heard Jake sigh “she cried the whole way home, even though they won the game.” You heard him sigh again “she’s in her room”

You turned you back towards the door, you didn’t want to see him. You heard the door creek open, and Niki’s footsteps were light and careful. “Y/nnie?” His voice was soft and quite full of regret. You turned too him without realising until you faced him. You slowly sat up pulling your blanket tight around you.

“Y/nnie I’m so sorry, princess” he kneeled in front of you reaching for your hand and holding it gently “did you forget?” You asked quietly, Niki’s face was full of regret, his eyes scanning your face. “Fuck- I’ll never forget again okay? I’m so sorry, I’ll never miss something like this again” you just stared at him eyes glossy from crying

“okay, I forgive you” you said “I’m really sorry” he said as he pulled you into a hug.

After that night your feelings for him grew stronger, and as he promised he showed up to all your games and birthdays and anything you found important.

In high school your feelings for him didn’t disappear, they kept getting stronger, after all of his practices you waited with a cold water bottle for him and a towel. You walked home with him and Jake. You waited for him before lunch, you were basically clung to him without thinking much of it, Niki didn’t either.

But when your feelings started to grow more and more you thought you had to put a stop to it. Jake knew you liked Niki but he swore not to tell him.

In your diary you wrote

Operation stop having feeling for Niki

1. Stop clinging to him

2. No more water and towels after practise

3. No walking home with him

4. Avoid him as much as possible

And that’s what you did. No matter how hard it was or how much you wanted to walk home with him, you needed this crush to go away.

You didn’t realise how hard this would be, but you were determined. When you saw him in the halls, you ran the other way. When you saw him walking with Jake you purposely waited for them to walk away so he wouldn’t see you. And you didn’t show up to practise anymore.

This had been going on for about 2 weeks and Niki am had caught on, he tried asking Jake if something was wrong with you but Jake said he had no idea.

Jake and Niki were walking in the hall when they saw you, like usual you ran the other way. “See? She does that every time I see her, I don’t get it” Niki pointed eyebrows furrowing “I don’t know what to tell you man” and it was true Jake didn’t know what to do

“I feel weird without her y’know, I’m so used to having her by my side when she’s gone I feel weird” Niki brushed his hand through his hair

“maybe she’s going through a phase, ‘no boys’ thing” Jake nudged his shoulder “no, she talks to you Sunghoon and Heeseung all the time, but she avoids me” Niki’s voice was frustrated

“Well then it’s probably a ‘no Niki’ phase” Jake laughed, Niki glared at him, he was really hopeless.

This ‘no Niki’ thing had been going on for about a month and Jake was tired of hearing Niki complain. So he talked to Sunghoon and Heeseung about it.

“Aren’t you guys tired of hearing Niki complain about y/n avoiding him?” Heeseung and Sunghoon both nodded “well I have a plan” Jake sounded like some crazy mafia boss in a movie “first of all stop talking in that ‘tone’ and second of all what plan?” Heeseung snorted

“Operation ‘get y/n to talk to Niki and confess her feelings so we can finally live in peace’ starting today” Jake’s voice lowered an octave when he said that. “That’s a terrible name” Heeseung stated “I like it, straight forward y’know” Sunghoon said calm.

“It’s simple just corner Niki and y/n in a classroom and lock em’ in there so she’s forced to talk to him” Jake stated “I’ll handle y/n, you guys get Niki alright?”

“Sounds easy enough” Sunghoon said. And with that the plan was on. “But if that doesn’t work can I ask her out?” Heeseung stated “absolutely not bro”

When the school day finished you were getting your stuff from your locker when Jake came to you “y/n wanna walk home together?” You looked at him “nuh uh I’m not walking with Niki” you shook your head “no Niki already went home” Jake exclaimed

“Okay then sure” you smiled grabbing your books and stuffing them in your locker. “Oh shoot i forgot my chemistry book and my jacket, can you grab the book while I get my jacket?” Jake asked “oh yeah sure. What classroom?”

“504 the one behind you, thanks” you turned around and walked towards the classroom. Once you were inside you looked around and there he was, Niki. You turned around quickly and were about to open the door door, but it was locked.

“The hell?” You stated “y/n?” A voice asked, Niki’s voice. “Oh um hi-“ you stated before he cut you off “why are you avoiding me?” He asked as he walked to you.

“I’m not, just busy” you said quickly “stop lying y/n” he said turning you around to face him. “We’re locked in here, might aswell tell me the truth?” He said “fucking Jake” you cursed under your breath

“Just tell me, I don’t feel the same without you” you looked in your eyes, you gaze avoiding his “whatever it is it won’t change my opinion about you” his voice was sincere

“I like you” you blurted out without even realising, you quickly threw your hand over your mouth, eyes widening.

He just stood there, then he walked all the way up to you, removed you hand from your mouth and kissed you?

It all happened so fast and without processing you kissed him back. “I like you too sweet girl” he said when he pulled away

“Yeah but we don’t know each other well enough” you said embarrassed trying to avoid this conversation “u sure about that?” He said grinning “y-yes-“

“your favourite colours baby pink but you also love orange, you favourite candy is the strawberry gummy’s, you tilt your head when you’re confused and you get shy really fast”

You shook your head to every single thing he just said even tho he was right. Did he really know you so well? “You still sure we don’t know each other?” He smirked his head following your every movement

“So what does this make us?” You said shy “what do you want i to make us?” Since when did he become such a flirt? When you didn’t say anything he spoke up

“Be my girlfriend, y/n” he tilted you chin to look at him “okay” you said shy, then he kissed you again longer this time like he had all the time in the world.

When you guys finally got out of the classroom, you walked home hand in hand, this was meant to be.

“Y’know my favourite candy is the strawberry ones?”

“I know”

“You got everything right I was just lying”

“I know, sweet”
