Galen Marek/Starkiller and Haku from Naruto are pretty similar when you think about it.

Powerful, orphan, prodigies with near limitless potential taken under the wing of and taken advantage of by monsters.

Galen was Vader's slave, just as Haku was Zabuza's, but there was also an incredibly messed up version of a father-son dynamic somewhere along the line.

Both Galen & Haku were fiercely loyal to their mentors, but Zabuza never betrayed Haku.

Vader on the other hand literally and figuratively stabbed Starkiller in the back.

Zabuza cried after Haku's death, and wanted to see his face one last time before his own death shortly after his protege's.

Vader took Marek's corpse to Kamino to clone him.

Zabuza's last moments shortly after Haku's death were spent redeeming himself, while Vader's redemption didn't come until several years after Galen's death.

Has anyone yet pointed out the parallels between Louis starving himself and giving Lestat the cold shoulder for 7 years and Louis becoming a drug addict who kills his sex partners with Armand cleaning up after him for years?

And how both of these times, where he essentially denies his partners love and affection as a form of punishment and self-punishment, culminate in a big fight, in which he verbally abuses his partners until they snap, getting them to punish him even further - Lestat by dropping him, Armand by leaving him with the untreated burns for days?

tgck and bkdk parallels make so much more sense when you think of it as Katsuki paralleling Uraraka and Izuku paralleling Himiko instead of the other way around…

One of my favourite things about Durge is how complicated their relationship to 'their' body can be. Their blood is always referred to as Bhaal's blood. Any children they carry are his; their 'seed' and the children born from that is always referred to as his. Their flesh is his 'flesh.'

And it doesn't truly obey them, their autonomy is something between a privilage and a 'necessary evil' from Bhaal's perspective because some of that mortal free will is needed for them to be a useful pawn (godly non-interference politics and all). At any moment they could lose control of it as it ruins them again and again and again...

The body Bhaal is loaning them is a 'rotten skull' atop an 'unlovable carcass,' and it violates them. I just find myself thinking that if I were Durge and I'd been freed from Bhaal my first though to being told the life and body are 'mine' now would be I don't want it. I can't think of it as mine, I don't want to think of it as mine, I want it away from me. What did you think the point of dying was??
