"The Reluctant Queen"
My entry for Draw the Princess 2 is a paraphrase of The Reluctant Bride (1866) by Auguste Toulmouche. Now set in the game chapter "Happily Ever After".
The Princess is the bride, attended by all the Voices that can accompany you. In sacrifice, Smitten became a wraith, pulling the strings (golden chains) to make everything nice and happy. He's decorated the others to comfort her: Opportunist swaps his usual sleazy suit for Smitten's fancy shirt and trousers as a false king, Hero's steel armor is now a useless-but-pretty gold to play the knight in shining armor, and Paranoid's short, torn robe is "repaired" to a cumbersome length with gold trim, perhaps a royal vizier or seer. Furniture and interior design from the chapter are dreamily scattered around to match the shapes of the original -- placing us, the viewer and player, in the scene.
