Not to beef with a guy who has a veterinary degree, a ton of letters behind his name*, and a PhD in vegan pet food (????), and professorship
*notably none of his board certifications are in nutrition, and yes this is the guy responsible for that horrible vegan cat study** that the Guardian spread
But like. Your dog or cat is more likely to get struck by lightning when going for a walk than it is to get a prion disease from food with meat in it 😭 also there aren’t any documented prion diseases for canines (FSE is is a thing for cats tho)
Tumblr media
(Article) there aren’t even any known prions for dogs but tbf this is just on “companion animals” in general
**this study makes me mad. ITS NOT EVEN A NUTRITIONAL STUDY! It’s a survey of how healthy owners think their cats are (which is NOT an actual measure of health). Only one of its findings was statistically significant and none of them say anything about the actual health of the cat! But media outlets, his conclusion section, and his own university’s newsletter report on it as if it is and does! Also it’s funded by an org that wants to spread veganism and a lot of the “vegan cats” are indoor-outdoor. It’s only been cited once lmao

Glory; no guts
Daughter Caitlin had been back from Scotland only a few hours when she issued her report on vegan haggis (it's that brownish lump at the very epicenter of this photo).
As I wrote in an earlier blog, when she first mentioned the dish, I thought she was joking. I mean, aren't revolting animal innards the whole point of haggis ...?
But she showed me a menu and there it was on a Highlands restaurant menu: vegan haggis.
In fact, once she and her husband got to Scotland, they found that the dish was fairly common and ate it several times.
Caitlin's review: "I'm sure it doesn't taste a bit like the real thing, but it was delicious. Really flavorful with a nice texture and something we'd make ourselves if we had any idea how to do it.
'I imagine it had similar spices to real haggis but this one was made of what seemed to be barley, lentils and nuts/seeds."

Follow Your Heart Vegan Cheese! (Tumblr does not want me to link this one properly for some reason!)
I liked these a lot. I had to give them up because they contain citric acid, but they’re so much better than I ever imagined vegan cheese would be. The whole family actually preferred my mom’s cheeseburger pie with the vegan cheddar.
The Daiya Mozzarella was pretty good, too, but not quite as good as FYH.

Full review under the cut!
Aurum Leuci’s Log:
[Begin recording.] Hey there. Back at this weird pizza… mall… thing with the robots. For some reason it’s always night when I show up here? Not sure why. I bet it’s awesome when it’s actually open, but time seems to move weirdly while I’m here. The robots seem pretty cool with me being here, as long as I’m cooking. I don’t mind— since they can eat (for some reason?) they’re a pretty good audience. I’ll probably head back to the weird computer world soon… but later. The robots want me to go bowling. See you! [End log.]
Please see this post for my full review scale!
Main Dish: Bonnie’s Buddha Bowl
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 4/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 24/25
This dish was delicious, if not totally immersive to FNAF (though I could see this being served at the Pizzaplex, since it’s more akin to a Dave and Buster’s than a Chuck-e-Cheese). Since my family is plant-based, I decided to give it a shot, since this is one of the few recipes in the cookbook that needs no substitutions. It was a lot of work— between all of the vegetables and frying the tofu and roasting the chickpeas, I did all of it manually. But it was SO worth it. I didn’t include the broccoli (because I don’t care for it and had already chopped up 5 radishes, a red onion, and a zucchini) but it wasn’t missed. Solid meal, and it was fun to prepare!
Dessert: Superstar Daycare Strawberry Shake
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 5/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 25/25
Fresh strawberries, a couple scoops of ice cream, and whipped cream with sprinkles. Really, impossible to go wrong with. And it didn’t go wrong here! I don’t have much to say about this shake, really— it was delicious and really, really easy to prep. My only complaint is that it called for chia seeds…. 1 tablespoon of chia seeds…
We now have a… very large… bag of chia seeds. Please give me suggestions for foods you can make with chia seeds. I think we’ll be working through that bag for awhile. I’m not even sure what it even added to the shake… but honestly, it definitely fits with the Pizzaplex vibe. Chia seeds are just… they sound healthy while not really adding much in terms of taste.
Seriously, though. I need chia seed use ideas.
Tune in next Wednesday (7/3/24) for another fandom cookbook review!

Blogmas: Viral LUSH Snow Fairy
Hi guys,
If you have been a fan of LUSH for a long time you will know how iconic their Snow Fairy collection is. Originally it was a bath bomb that turned into bath washes and last year it reached their cosmetics range with more lip products.
One of my favourite products from this range is the LUSH Snow Fairy Lip Jelly £9.00. I usually can't wear lip balms because my lips react however this natural organic formula I can wear all day without any issues. Unlike a traditional lip balm this is a lip jelly which is (in my opinion) more hydrating and nourishing on your lips. I adore this products and last year I bought one and then it sold out everywhere I couldn't find it anywhere so when they relaunched this product again in their Christmas collection I have to repurchase.
I decided to get 3 this time because they last ages and feel so amazing on my lips. The only thing I strongly dislike about Christmas collections is sometimes brands bring out their best products and then you can't find them for a year. Honestly it drives me crazy but it's a good excuse to buy in bulk when I see these products in store.
So if you need a bubble gum scented lip jelly in your life I highly highly recommend grabbing this while you can because when it's gone it's gone. As always all products mentioned in my blog post are linked above.
Lots of love,
Bella x x

I've tried vegan cheese now
it vaguely resembles cheese
but that's about all it has going for it though, in no other way is it like the real deal at all
did the inventor never even actually touch real cheese before making this INSULT of a substitute????
CHEESE RATING:
.25 appearance
0 taste
0 texture
0 smell
0 melt
for a total score of .25/5
even the overprocessed american cheese singles get a higher score than that tbh, at least they make an ATTEMPT at taste and texture, and they melt pretty damn good
