Had the silliest idea while making breakfast.. what if Damian’s Favorite Brother is Tim, but for the Dumbest Reason...pancakes
My idea is that Tim is Damian’s favorite brother, but not for the reasons one might expect. It’s not because of Tim’s skill, his smarts, or his ability to stay three steps ahead in every fight. Nope. Damian’s real reason for favoring Tim over Dick, Jason, or even Bruce is much simpler.
It’s because Tim makes the best pancakes. Like, legendary pancakes.
Not even kidding.
One morning, Tim casually whips up a batch of pancakes in the kitchen—y’know, because Alfred’s off running errands and the rest of the family doesn’t know the first thing about breakfast beyond opening a box of cereal, and Tim's been feeding himself since he was six. So Tim steps up to the stove, and bam—fluffy, golden stacks of heaven.
Damian, who never really cared for breakfast, takes one bite of Tim’s pancakes and is sold. From that moment on, he’s obsessed.
“Drake, you will make me those pancakes again tomorrow."
And Tim just blinks, completely confused, but shrugs it off like, “Uh, sure?”
The next morning, Damian’s right there in the kitchen, bright and early, waiting for his daily dose of pancake perfection. By the third day, he’s even dragging a chair next to Tim, watching like a hawk as Tim cooks, making sure he’s using the right ingredients.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Batfamily is just like, “Really? This is the thing that bonds them?”
Tim, being Tim, just rolls with it. He doesn’t ask questions. If Damian wants pancakes, Damian gets pancakes. He’s just trying to survive his new role as “Pancake Master.”
But Damian? Oh, he’s serious about this.
Damian tells anyone who will listen that Tim is the only one who knows how to make breakfast properly. He’ll give the other brothers side-eye anytime they dare to suggest they could cook for him. Even Alfred raises an eyebrow, but Damian’s already set: Tim’s pancakes or nothing.
What’s even funnier is that when Damian gets pissed off at anyone, he refuses to eat their cooking. But Tim? Untouchable. The one person who can screw up as many times as he wants and still be in Damian’s good graces—because those pancakes? Irreplaceable.
So, while the Batfamily argues over strategy, patrols, or who gets to drive the Batmobile, Damian's priorities are clear:
"You’re all amateurs. Drake’s the only one who makes pancakes worthy of the Wayne name.”
And now, Tim’s been promoted to Damian’s favorite brother for the silliest reason imaginable. But hey, if the key to Damian’s heart is pancakes, Tim’s got that title locked down.

I thought a good pancake brunch would be the perfect way to use up some of the flours I still have hanging around before my move, and of course, Remus is always down for pancakes. I made this particular recipe for him; he wanted chocolate chip, and I thought this seemed pretty classic, plus I was hoping it would make a sizable dent in my self-raising flour stash.
I made this in full using honey and what I guess was not mild olive oil, as the taste here was a little funky. The flavor of the batter honestly reminded me more of a vinaigrette than pancakes. Again, I think this is really down to the olive oil I used, but I wish I’d gone with my gut and used maple syrup and vegetable oil instead.
My first few pancakes were not too pretty, as to be expected, but honestly all of them had a slightly crumbly texture going on. I suspect this is because my self-raising flour is probably two years old now and has lost a little of its touch, but I  also can’t say for sure.
Overall, these were pretty good (from the bites I had off Remus’s plate) but not great. Again, that’s likely just down to the ingredients I used, but I’m not sure I would make this again unless it was once more in the spirit of using up my self-raising flour.

We already know about Sunny's, but what are other characters' favourite things to eat? What do they like to drink?
Basil: espresso/americano/capuccino to drink, and for food something comforting and warm, like beef stew or something. he tried going vegan like a hundred times but he's not ready for the commitment. i think he would go for angel cake as a dessert, or just granola bars.
Aubrey: alcohol probably, coke on casual days and as a favourite dish i think she would really enjoy sushi or ratatouille. her favourite dessert would probably be donuts, m&ms, or peeps.
Kel: orange joe for a drink, obvi, and i feel like he would enjoy crazy american combos like bacon and waffles, deep fried anything, probably raising canes, oh and empanadas. for dessert he would probably go for... the entire breakfast menu? i'm sure he's a big waffle/pancake/torrijas fan, and also sour gummies.
Hero: probably plain ol black coffee, blueberry lemonade or sparkling water (he's one of those..), milkshakes too. For food I think he likes trying out new things from time to time so his favourites change pretty often. his go to sweets would be... fruit tarts, tiramisu or chocolate chip cookies.
Jamie: Jamie loves decaf lattes, and sodas, and for food probably some classic chicken nuggets with fries, and birthday cake flavoured sweets. they've got a huge sweet tooth, so anything would do, except hard candy.
Brent: he loves coffee and hot cocoa, especially accompanied by a treat. for food, i would say he likes jollof rice, salads with all kinds of dressings, anything beef and a lot of salty snacks. he would always snack on some chips. for sweets, i'm inclined to say lava cake with ice cream on the side. he likes chocolate bars too, like snickers and bounty. he's got a full drawer of snacks in his room because his mom wouldn't let him eat too many while growing up.
Ash: he loves coffee to the point that it's a personality trait, and he usually gets a flavoured latte. avocado toast and sunny side up eggs for breakfast, alfredo pasta and salad for lunch, and fish with vegetables for dinner, specifically salmon. for dessert, he would go for a cinnamon roll or rugelach.
think that's it. for me i love lattes and dr pepper, and for food probably something really lame like a mcchicken or chilly cheese fries or pasta. for sweets.. i don't know. everything at once. i love chocolate and anything with a soft chewy texture.

Vegan Kin Food Ideas
S'up! So, we've been seeing a lot of kin food posts, but the focus is always on meat. Then when vegan or vegetarian options are listed it's like salad + fruit and that's it. We've been vegan for some years now so here's a list of things we eat that we think others might enjoy too!
A piece of advice we found helpful is to think about the food item you miss and break it down into what exactly you miss. If you miss eating gems, is it the appearance? The crunch? Gritty texture or dry taste? In that spirit of that, our list will be largely broken up by texture/experience.
Crunch Crunch Snacks
This includes snacks/sides that get your jaws working or have a satisfying "snap" to them.
Roasted chickpeas
Kale chips
Ants on a log (celery, peanut butter and raisins)
Hummus + baby bell peppers/sugar snap peas/carrots
Granola / cereals (a lot of types are vegan, read the ingredients before purchasing)
Banana chips
Nuts + seeds
Popcorn (avoid "buttery" packages, buy plain or kettle corn)
Peanut butter pretzels (crunchy outside, delicious soft inside)
Smartie candies
Keep your cookies/chocolate bars in the fridge or freezer
Also, load cookies up with extra nuts/seeds/choco chips
Soft, but with some crunch
This section is for dishes/sides that are overall easier on the teeth, but with elements that still crunch or snap. If you're looking for recipes that combine different texture elements check these out.
Lentil nachos + nacho cheese sauce
"Crunchwrap" (quesadilla made with refried beans and homemade cheese sauce that we open and place tortilla chips and lettuce inside after grilling)
Tempeh bacon (we like this on a BLT or grilled cheese sandwich)
Crispy tofu sandwiches
Grilled asparagus
Apple slices with nut butter
Pickles
Apple turnovers
Vegan sushi (there's a ton of recipes, check out these two collections to get started X, X)
Falafel (can be used a hundred different ways, sandwiches, wraps, on it's own, etc.)
Roasted chickpeas again, but with a caveat**: You can roast them at 350 F for 30 mins and they'll be cooked enough to pop between your teeth, but soft in the center. We like to either eat them as-is or top our salads with them. (We season with salt/pepper before going into the oven, nothing else) **Must be eaten after baking, they will not keep
For the foragers in the crowd
These dishes focus more on having either multiple different foods in a visible way or a tactile element to how you eat them.
Chia pudding
Smoothie bowls
Overnight oatmeal
Trail mix
Pumpkin bars (We replace the egg with a flax egg and use vegan butter)
Chocolate chip banana monkey bread
Corn on the cob
Grilled veggie kebabs
Cranberry cilantro quinoa salad
Chili
Bush's beans and rice
Salads topped with sliced fruit, nuts, grains and/or beans
Edamame (a favorite, we love pulling out the insides with our teeth, you can get ones without the pods if they bother you)
Plant-based burgers, the kinds with the chunks of veggies (our favorite is dr. praeger's black bean quinoa burgers)
Chewy Foods
This section is for foods that work your jaw, but more in a "needing to chew" way.
Potato gnocchi
Dried fruit (comes in all different flavors, not just raisins)
Swedish fish, red vines, skittles or sour patch kids
Granola bars (a lot of types are vegan, read the ingredients before purchasing)
Thick bread-y pizza (our favorite dough recipe)
Pancakes
Chewy chocolate chip cookies
Peanut butter cookies
Baked oatmeal
Potato skins
Meat Substitutes
The most obvious way to make a dish vegan is to sub in the appropriate mock meat. We've eaten quite a few and we won't sugar-coat it: a lot of them are either going to match the taste, texture, OR look. It's hard for mock meats to copy meat 1:1, some get way closer than others, but if you go into this expecting no difference you will be disappointed.
Our two favorite brands are Impossible and Gardein. We've tried a lot of their products and have yet to eat one we don't like.
These aren't your only options though!
Beans
Falafel (deep-fried balls of ground chickpea)
Tofu
Tempeh (fermented soybeans)
Seitan (made from wheat gluten)
Jack fruit
You might have guessed based on the recipes shared, but we usually opt for beans. We haven't eaten much seitan or jack fruit, but they are options. At our local grocery stores they're sold in the "free from" section and can be brought pre-seasoned and ready to cook with. Jack fruit in particular is a popular replacement for shredded pork.
The trick with a lot of these is to marinate them. Tofu in particular so you can infuse it with flavor. Here's a few recipes we love:
Lentil and sweet potato loaf ("Neat"loaf)
Marinated tofu
Crispy tofu sandwiches
Tempeh bacon
Chili (our mom's recipe that we modified)
Soft / Squish
For things that are soft or squishy and you can slurp up.
Seaweed salad
miso soup
Pico de Gallo Black Bean Soup
"Nice" cream
Chocolate mousse
Oatmeal
Popsicles
Applesauce
Brownie batter hummus
Chia seed jam
Lavender syrup (to flavor other drinks, we use it in coffee)
Lavender lemonade (final product will be a light brown color)
Mashed potatoes + Gravy
Slow cooker apple cider
Tofu scramble
JUST egg
Non-dairy mac and cheese (our favorite brand is the upton's)
Smoothies (if you're looking for a protein powder to include, we recommend Vega)
**Just a reminder to supplement for B12 if you're consuming a vegan diet. There are some foods that are fortified with it; however, a supplement is cheap, easy to find and all-around a more reliable way to ensure you are getting enough.

If I’m making pancakes this time of year, it takes a serious craving to dissuade me from remaking my favorite pumpkin spice version. But I wanted the chocolate chip bit real bad, so after browsing a few options I had saved on my pumpkin shortlist, I finally settled on this recipe, as it seemed by far the most classic.
I halved it, but I should have known better, as Remus always wants more when we make pancakes. I used 2 parts regular flour and 1 part wholemeal spelt flour, which honestly created a great texture and depth of flavor here that really suited the spices.
As the recipe warns, these do take a while to cook due to how moist they are, but moisture is what I look for in a good pancake, especially a spiced one, so I was more than happy to keep my patience cap on. I went ahead and got two pans going from the beginning, which also really helped.
These were super chocolatey and honestly just super wholesome; Remus and I both really enjoyed them. I hardly think I really need to look further in terms of pumpkin chocolate chip pancake recipes; this one checked just about every box.

Jason Schwartzman on how he gained 50 pounds for Marie Antoinette
IGN: How did you gain weight when you're a vegetarian? Schwartzman: Well, you can't just eat hot dogs. You just eat everything you eat, but just much more. No cheese. I don't eat dairy or eggs or anything either.
IGN: Are you Vegan? Schwartzman: Basically, yeah. But, you can do it. I did it organically too. I tried not to eat any type of chemical -- just Uncle Eddie's Cookies. You can tell when you are eating something that's not going to help you stay thin. You know. When you are eating a thing made of flour full of chocolate chips, you know that, if you eat 15 to 20 of those a night, something's going to happen. So, an average day of eating, I would wake up and eat oatmeal and lots of pancakes and waffles with lots of syrup and then I'd have snacks. Every snack was a full meal. And dinner would be my biggest meal, which you're not supposed to have because it's close to bedtime. At around like 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m., I would get Barbara's Fig Newtons -- organic fig newtons -- and I would eat 30 or 40 cookies a night and a jar of almond butter and put a scoop of almond butter on each cookie and drink a beer and watch a DVD. Then I'd go to dinner. So I would eat the whole box of cookies, the jar of almond butter and go to dinner which would be a calzone with soy cheese and a pizza and spaghetti and dessert there, and my own bread basket and wine. You get to a point where you don't feel sick eating that much food. Your stomach does stretch out. It was bizarre how much I could eat.

For Veganuary, some of my favorite vegan foods!
As a general rule, I use canned or frozen veggies in all of these. They’re cheaper, they last longer, and you don’t have to do any chopping (which is especially convenient when it comes to onions). The only exceptions are mushrooms and potatoes.
Rice!
I cook it with veggie broth (or a vegan chicken flavored broth), garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
Before I set it to simmer, I dump in a bag of frozen veggies (I like mixed veggies or spinach) or fresh veggies (I like mushrooms) and throw in a can of chickpeas for good measure
Right after it’s done, I stir in some vegan cheese if I have it. I usually do about a cup of cheese when I make a big pot and that’s plenty.
Dirty Rice
Pasta!
To stretch mac and cheese, melt some vegan butter in the pot, add your unsweet dairy free milk, then add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and whatever seasonings you want. Bring it to a boil and then whisk in enough flour to get it to a gravy-like consistency. then add your dairy free cheese--you’ll only need half as much.
Garlic Butter Pasta
Chickpea “Tuna” Casserole
Alfredo
I like to add red bell pepper or spinach to a mozzarella mac and cheese; peas or meatless crumbles to a cheddar mac and cheese.
For tomato sauce, I just use a can of crushed tomato with salt, garlic and onion powder, italian seasoning, and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Spinach and mushrooms go well with this, too.
Some of my top recipes
Biscuit Topped Chickpea Pot Pie (takes a while but so worth it!)
Tabbouleh (I usually add chickpeas to make it heartier)
Corn Fritters (I just throw in whatever veggies I have on hand)
Biscuits and Gravy (I usually add some fake sausage to the gravy to make it more filling)
Split Pea Soup
Hummus and Pita (This isn’t real pita, but it’s close and much easier. Of course you can always just buy it at the store, too.)
Potato Wedges
Refried Bean Burgers
Burritos (No recipe, but I fill mine with refried beans, spanish rice--the little knorr packets are vegan!--taco sauce, and mexican style dairy free cheese)
Nachos (No recipe, but I top mine with black beans, a vegan cheese sauce, salsa, and black olives)
Pancakes
Desserts are easy--just sub out dairy-free milk and dairy-free butter. Or search for vegan versions of your favorites!
Cinnamon Rolls
Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls
Orange Rolls
Sprinkle Sugar Cookies
Rolled Sugar Cookies
Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Vanilla Pudding
Chocolate Pudding
Lots of stovetop pudding mixes are vegan--just use non-dairy milk!
Vanilla Cake
Chocolate Cake
Coffee Cake
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Banana Nice Cream
Frozen Pineapple Whip
Vegan Egg Substitutes for Baking
Cheese - I buy raw cashews in bulk from foodtolive--shipping is free, tax is included, and the price is very reasonable. I eat cashew cheese every day so I usually get the 7lb bag and keep it in the bottom of my fridge.
Easy Cheese Sauce (no cashews)
Go-to Cashew Cheese (This is a great base! Sometimes I add tomato paste and hot sauce for a buffalo cheese, or sometimes I go heavy on the lemon juice and add dried dill and parsley).
Pimento Cheese
Sundried Tomato Cheese
