I can't lie, he's simply not sexy enough. This is the man that had these hoes framing each other for murder for the CHANCE to be with him. You cannot convince me that British boy could inspire such nonsense.

On a more serious note...

My issue with British! Dimitri really just speaks to my larger issue with how the show, and others like it, chose to adapt the source material. I literally HATE when one of my favorite book series is adapted and it is done in a way that the VA show did. It's this thing that a lot of YA adaptations do where they take the basics of a series like the setting, characters, and usually the overarching premise of the first book and use it to create it's own show. It's what Pretty Little Liars, Vampire Diaries, and Shadowhunters did. They take the series and gut it for parts to make a broadly marketable series that they can push for as many seasons as possible. An "adaptation" that you can identify as the book series, but also tells a completely different story. This isn't me saying these shows are bad television shows. I am saying they are bad adaptations. Of the previously mentioned shows I was only able to get through Vampire Diaries and most of Pretty Little Liars, and that was because I didn't read the books before I watched it. I wasn't met with the soul crushing devastation I was met with when I watched Shadowhunters and realized it was not actually going to adapt the book. (It's why, even though it's a literal dumpster fire, I prefer the movie because it at least tried to follow the books) Some people don't mind this, and that's totally okay, but I hate it so much. I feel like these adaptations take away so much from the story they are adapting, and make it worse. Obviously they could make it work having Dimitri be British, but it also just alters so much about how he is characterized. He wasn't Russian in the way that Lissa and Adrian are. It wasn't just used to give him a cool name, or to make sense in the overall world building. Richelle made Dimitri being Russian a significant aspect of his character. It influences his plotlines and is a major factor in why he behaves the way he does. The changes made to show Dimitri fundamentally change who he is in the world of the series. Him being a foot taller than Rose isn't to make a cute height difference, it is to signify just how massive he is compared to the other Dhampirs. The boys refer to him as a god, and that's not just because he was a good warrior. If that were the case they'd say the same thing about Janine, and they don't. Dimitri's entire being makes him a force to the dhampirs. He is other worldly to them. The show made him plain, average. That is my issue with British Dimitri.

I honestly do not understand why Peacock cancelled VV so fast

Look at Star Trek disco which was heavily criticized after the first season. But paramount sticked to it because they said: „we want this to promote our new streaming platform paramount+, we will not cancel it right away. This is an amazing opportunity to build a loyal fanbase and to test the water, to see what fans want“

Same goes kinda also for Shadowhunters. Season 1 was okay but struggled. So it got a soft reboot, new showrunner, new design. And it totally paied off, it got 22 episode each season instead of 10 episode. It was even so successful that Freeform thought they could use the show to promote their own service independent from Netflix (and totally failed, but that’s another story)

So cancelling VV so fast when it was the only big international show of peacock, which was sold in over 100 countries, was the dumbest marketing choice ever,

Maybe only topped by HBO max removing HBO from their name

I dont think it is that simple with saying that Rose got whitewashed, because like - I dont know about you, but in my experience, many turkish people are rather pale, and also rose would spend like 90% of her life away from the sun, so how should she get tanned? Also with her skin being described as the color of an almond - almonds are white inside from what i remember.

But still, there isnt that much of an problem with them casting a non russian, unless if they like would have erased his entire connection to russia. there really wasnt that much of an problem with things like "Roza"

weird enough this is an unpopular opinion probably but idc about the casting directors casting a non russian actor for dimitri tbh i mean like. yeah if they give him lines in russian they MIGHT sound a bit off but that is nowhere near as bad as them possibly casting a white woman to play rose who's a woc

The gameplay idea I had here was that three 'families' of six teens (3 M, 3 F) with two YA/Adult 'teacher's occupy each of the three "rental units" - making, essentially, a mega academy style lot. I designed each 'unit' for a different occult type - vampire, werewolves, and spellcasters :3 fun or chaotic and stressful I dunno lol

Ground Floor

Entry and main corridors with central 'winter garden' with domed glass ceiling. Communal library, den, art/music classroom, wc, potions classroom, dining room with shared kitchen facilities, herbology classroom, and meditation/'chapel' room.

First Floor

Four lightly themed bedrooms to sleep three teen sims each, two large communal bathrooms with shower, bath and wc stalls, den area, and candle making/misc classroom.

Second Floor

Divination classroom, woodworking/gemology classroom, two further communal bathroom areas, and two bedrooms to sleep 3 teen vampires each.

Third Floor

Six individual bedrooms for YA/Adults, two shared single bathroom spaces.

Basement

Large swimming pool, changing area, and laundry rooms. Butlers' quarters, storage rooms, and staff kitchen.

If I had a nickle for everytime one of my favorite book series was adapted into a single mediocre movie with bad writing but great casting choices that had all the sequels cancelled AND a mid teen show that's fine on it's own but horrific as an adaptation that also got cancelled AND had Dominic Sherwood playing a main character.... I'd have 2 nickles, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
